We were looking for a place to have breakfast before going to the Met and found this corner cafe. It was ok and the prices alright for the area. I had a cranberry bagel with cream cheese and chamomile tea, while my friends had the lox with bagel and some fruit salad. The food was delicious and the service was fast.

Can I give a 0? I wanted to stop by in this place and ask for a coffee with my friend. No customers were there. We wanted to sit outside for a second on the tables to drink the coffees and he said no, we needed to order more food - which I totally understand. So we asked him how much we'd need to order to be allowed to sit outside (calmly and genuinely, not like in a sarcastic way by any means) and he berated is by saying we need to buy more (which we already understood) and that he paid $4000 for those tables - which I don't understand how that's our problem. We were genuinely going to buy food until he berated us. I don't write yelp reviews much, but this guy made me immediately take out my phone to do so. Avoid this place

SO expensive for a cash only place! It's the worst when you can physically see how much that little sandwich was worth at this tiny shop. The place is very cramped, I don't get how they stay in business.. oh wait, probably b/c their average price for a meal is 15 bucks, be it a sandwich or an entree. The waiter, the bald dude, might want to think about another career... he forgot multiple orders, brought out the wrong food to the wrong table, gave the wrong checks to people... etc etc. If you are a wealthy enough person who lives on the upper east side and can afford a $18 eggs and ham, you might like this place.

It is okay, the waiter was the best part. Does not accept credit cards which is a big pain

Don't bother. Invest your money elsewhere. It's overpriced...the service is rude, no refills of soda and the food is mediocre. And the Greek options on the menu are shoved down your throat by the waitress. So be prepared to order Greek salad and pretty ordinary spinach pie. And to top it off, 20% tip is automatically added for a party of 3. Making it an $80 lunch for sandwiches and no alcohol. Crazy.

Literally stumbled upon this place after a Saturday evening at the Met. We were there for sandwiches -- a turkey burger and a turkey club -- and both were excellent. The turkey was real roast turkey, not sliced deli meat. The fries were delicious and not too greasy. Our server and the rest of the staff were super nice -- we had a question about the bill, and he very non-defensively went through and explained it, no big deal. It's not cheap -- $6.50 for a side of fries; $2.75 per soda, and no refills -- a refill is an additional charge. But the food is fresh and delicious. And on a separate note - the place is super clean, including the rest room. I'm definitely going back.

Small Greek yogurt fruit and cranberry juice. 17 USD. Wow real UES prices. First and last time.

Delicious coffee drinks!! And the cheesecake they have is fantastic! But make sure to bring cash because they don't take credit/ATM cards which is a huge bummer since most people use only their cards.

I have never been treated worst by a waiter. The bald man at this cafe was very sarcastic to us, and made us feel completely unwelcomed. In fact, when he asked for coffee, I said "No, thank you" and he responded with a "I like that. And what are we waiting for?" As if to throw us out of the cafe ASAP. And when we asked for the bill, he sarcastically said "Service charge, that's what they call it." His treatment of us was insulting. I think he was racist to us as Asians. I noticed that he treated the white customers nicely, but not to us. I have never felt so insulted and unwelcomed in my life. I feel sorry for that old, bald man who still serve tables at his age. At least, I know I make more money than he does and live a better life. Don't be bitter at us Asians for doing well.

Food was ok..A bit salty but service was great. There are too many Nectars in the area, I'm not even sure which one I ate at....just kidding.

We stopped by here for a coffee after Met. And this was the worst coffee shop experience ever! The food was ridiculously overpriced (they charged me 20$ for a slab of cream cheese, bagel and lox). The services was fast, but the server had no idea what he was doing and what we ordered. The coffee was so mediocre. Don't try it, if you don't want your day to be spoiled!

Not too far of a walk from The Met museum. A little pricey but very well worth it. Delicious espresso with a little lemon as recommended by the gentleman serving us. Mochaccino was good too. Toasted Blueberry muffin and chocolate croissant were a great snack. Would absolutely return!

Delicious breakfast. Get some avocado, some tomatoes, some fresh squeezed OJ. You'll be glad you did.

It was cool. We must have went during non coffee hours because we were relegated to some small tables in the front. I guess the other tables were for dining. I wanted to journal and it give me enough breathing room. May I will come back in the AM and take it in.

I love this place. I've only taken out here but they are quick, they remember my order and they are super nice guys- Steve especially. While they are a little pricey, you can't find anything else cheaper in this area. I'm a big fan of this place. Make sure you have cash though, they are cash only!

We were very hungry and this was about the only place that was 'affordable', and with that I mean sandwiches for less than $10. I ordered a salmon sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the chicken noodle soup. The salmon on my sandwich was not smoked salmon, as one would think, but it was from a can. As was the chicken noodle soup. And the bread he got with the soup was old. We paid $17 for just those two things. Ridiculous!

Don't know what the complaints from others are about but I thought the place is pretty decent, food wise. The price is definitely cheap, considering it is on the UES where everything is super expensive. I had the corned beef hash with sunny side up eggs. It came with a side of toast and fries. For $12, I think it is a steal. Can't finish half my plate. Mum-in-law had their BLT and for $7, the portion is a steal. We are never fans of over-sized servings, anyways. My mum and aunt split an order of their Turkey Sandwich, now that I consider overpriced. At $17, I have no idea what drives up the price of the sammich, but hey, it is still decent for UES. Iced coffee is weak on the caffeine note. Service was prompt. Our waitress was polite. Can't say I will return for the restaurant alone but if I am in the area, I won't mind eating there again.

Just order the simple stuff, you can get a quick, decent bite with service from nice people and they have real brewed iced tea. It is in an expensive area, one of the most expensive in the world so the prices were 'cheap' compared to the pricier restaurants nearby.

Sat outside. Good service. Can only pay with cash though. Good stop after the Met for a quick sandwich or soup. Would go there again if I was in the area

You will often see UES children drinking coffee here before school. they have a very limited menu but what they do have, they do well. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. Minimal seating inside but if you are going to the MET and don't want nosebleed prices of EAT, this is a great choice. Also, don't ever go to EAT. (see review)

My first question is what are their store hours? We stopped in to grab some tea and a slice of pound cake and after ordering and paying, we waned to have a seat and enjoy our paid for items before going out to face the cold. One of the workers told us he was closing and we had to leave, I'm not sure why they sold us the items if we couldn't enjoy them. Major turnoff!

We LOVE this place. Whenever we're up at the museums are just strolling around the UES, we always make sure to grab lunch here. Make sure to bring cash as they don't take credit cards. Sandwiches, eggs, etc, everything is great! Love this place.

Terrible. Wanted to just have a drink, so we sat down at a table. When they found out we weren't going to order food, the waiter rudely told us to go inside and sit at the bar. We left.

Everything about this cafe is unsatisfactory. The food is mediocre and everything is extremely overpriced (a bagel & lox for $17.95, are you kidding me??). They even managed to screw up the chocolate egg cream. Not only are the portions small, the food bland, and the prices high, but also the service is horrible. The waiters were rude and inattentive. The only point in which our waiter paid us any attention is when he loomed over our table, setting it for the next customers while we were still dining, and pressured us to empty our seats for the next patrons. Everything about our experience at Nectar Coffee Shop was unpleasant and I recommend that you save your money, patience, and hunger for somewhere else.

I come here for (overpriced) eggs benedict... That is all I order.... the rest is not appealing, not even the coffee.

Decent quick stop for an afternoon bite. Good service and decent prices. My turkey and avocado sandwich was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. The hamburger however that the lovely lady across from me ordered was giant and much better.

The prices weren't that bad for the upper east side.

The quintessential coffee shop for us non-New Yorkers.... this place was fantastic. We went to the Met earlier in the day and dropped by here on the way to the Guggenheim. It was the perfect pit-stop. The service was prompt, the food was good, the coffee refills were quick. My wife ordered an omelet... I noticed that the owners were Greek (either that or my ethnic radar is shot) so I ordered the lamb gyro. AWESOME on all counts... our food was good. It was a busy day and we didn't feel rushed. There was a older Jewish couple that sat next to us that seemed to know everyone that came though the door... it was kinda' cool. This joint feels very "New York" and is a good place for non-New Yorkers to come and visit to feel the vibe. The seating is packed but comfortable.... As we left, everyone said good-bye... even the staff that didn't wait on us. We felt at home there...

After a long day at the Met, this place is good to relax with friends. I ordered their burger and fries-~ tasty! A good portion of beefs and lots of fries. The atmosphere feels like a typical diner. And The price is great!

This is a cute little coffee shop located on a street corner with about 8 tables indoors, 6 seats at the counter, and 6 tables outside. The day was gorgeous, but all the outdoor tables were filled so my date and I had to dine at the only seats available at the time...at the counter. We were greeted by a very nice Nepalese woman. I ordered the Tuna Melt Special. It's pretty much a standard tuna melt sandwich but served open-faced that included these special fixins: several strips of crisp bacon, tomato, and 4 thick slices of swiss cheese. I'm a cheese lover, but I think this dish had way more cheese that I could handle...I had to toss some it that aside as I was afraid that this one meal would be too heavy on the arteries. Yummy and very satisfying. Not sure if I'd go eat there again if I'm i the neighborhood as the city offers a ton of eateries. It's a cute little place though with hearty coffee shop dishes.

As far as New York City coffee shops go, this place is only okay. They serve your basic standard diner/coffee shop food. The space is super small - only a few tables outside on warm days and a max of 10 tables inside with a few counter stools. Also, I don't think they have a bathroom. I always just took stuff to go from here on my lunch breaks in high school - they have a pretty egg & cheese sandwich, and they get decent bagels - I liked getting a toasted plain bagel with creem cheese and tomatos. Other than that I tried to avoid this place cause it was always crowded and touristy (probably as a result of its proximity to the Met).

Honestly just terrible. The service was horrible -- the man at the counter was extremely rude and quite dirty -- and the food was ridiculously overpriced and undersized. The food tasted awful and was certainly not fresh and yet it was a 30 minute wait for a simple order. The entire place seems unsanitary. It's time the Board of Health shut it down.
