This place was definitely its own microcosm. I love the idea - quaint, arty community, fresh house made food - but the delivery was less than stellar. The daily special Italian soda was weird tasting and way too sweet (I think they just used the coffee syrup flavors) and my chai was ok. My garden salad was WAY overdressed and had lots of celery in it (odd choice, I thought). The service was really slow and they had to ask several times while we were waiting for us to repeat one of our drinks...and at the end, they totally forgot to give it to us. It was a classic case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Everyone was nice and friendly, though.

We found The Coffee Spot on Yelp, and even though the reviews are mixed, we tried it anyway. My husband and I had the breakfast burritos with sausage. OMG, it was outstanding. I talked to the gentleman behind the counter as I could detect a hint of seasoning like oregano or thyme and asked him about it. He confirmed they make their own green chili sauce and put some Oregano in there. The combination of eggs, cheese, potatoes, sausage and this yummy green chili was delicious. The service was good, everyone behind the counter was friendly. Free wifi. If we lived in Taos I would make this a regular stop.

Basically did not want to make my drink but make the one she wanted. Forget this place.

I LOVE this place. My boyfriend and I were staying nearby and needed a place to access the internet. The coffee spot was perfect. Nice drinks and an interesting atmosphere-- very Taos hippie. I almost felt cooler just being there. Definitely a good place to go.

Overall, it was pretty bad. Considering I had been awake for hours and was embarking on a road trip, and had not had coffee yet, these lattes should have tasted AMAZING... regardless! They didn't. They were mediocre. And served searing hot As in, $2 Million Dollar McDonald's Lawsuit hot. It was over 20 minutes down the road (after the first initial scalding sip) before we could even think about drinking them. We also had to have them re-prepared, actually, because the Barista didn't listen to our order and handed us two black coffees with syrup on them. Maybe she couldn't hear because she was too busy screaming at her two young children who were playing... fighting... screaming... whatever... behind the counter. Sanitary, huh? I get that Taos has a different... lifestyle... but I just don't get the "vibe" of this place. In any case, I don't like to get my coffee in an orphanage.

Are you freaking kidding me?! This place is amazing. The bright, colorful art and environment make it welcoming and cheerful to be there. The friendly and might I say comedic staff will charm you and serve you with a smile and perhaps a joke. The food is wonderful, the treats are divine and the drinks are made to your desire. There is a wonderful gift shop with locally made goodies, There is an open mic from 3-6 on sundays. And you can find out about local events on the flyer wall.

Great food and coffee. Bean burrito was delicious. They also have eggnog coffee which sounds weird, but it's quite good. I think i found my spot in Taos :)

Anyplace whose motto is "resist mediocrity" can't be all bad but this coffee house situated at the edge of tourist hell on the plaza lives up to it. The coffee is key and theirs is rock-star good and politically correctly grown, which is very important in the hippie time warp that is Taos. Parking is very limited but if you're walking about checking out the town, it is your coffee must-stop!

Absolute gluten free paradise. I wish there was one of these in Austin. Their rotating selection of baked goods were so impressive and delicious. The mini Cristo gluten free was covered in high quality bacon and a side of real maple syrup. We went here both mornings we were in Taos.

Great breakfast selection, big coffee cups, free wi-fi, awesome outdoor area, semi-occasional (?) acoustic open mics on Sundays. Travels brought me through a couple times and I always enjoyed this spot, preferring it to downtown alternatives. Maybe a touch pricey for some, but that's kind of typical at non-chain coffee shops like these where you're getting fresh and organic ingredients. I would definitely recommend spending an hour and a few bucks here.

Formerly The Bean, which was my favorite coffee place anywhere. As far as I can tell, nothing is different about the coffee, and that suits me well. Strong and smooth, the coffee is as good as it gets. Very local clientele, and outdoor/indoor seating.

Love this place! Very friendly! Excellent breakfast burrito! Home made everything! I am an oatmeal snob. They did it just right. Great oatmeal with lots of choices to add on. Perfection! Wonderful awareness of various food preferences and needs. Looked at the crummy reviews and wished they had read the sign about attitude next to the register... The presentation is not haute cuisine. It is more like your favorite grandmothers kitchen ! LOVE IT!!!

Damn good service, damn good espresso, nice atmosphere, wicked art, plenty to snack on, and they had the ever elusive wifi we needed to get where we were going on our vacation. Thank you, Coffee Spot!

An amazing and fun place. The food is delicious and from scratch. The pastries are good, breakfast tacos are great, and the lattes (triple shot mediums) are the best on the planet. The atmosphere is great from the staff, to the place, and on to the diversity of people there. Anything goes and come as you are. I'll ride 120 miles on my moto for breakfast here. It is just a wonderful alternative to corporate coffee as an authentic place to enjoy life, espresso drinks, and food.

This place is amazing. The coffee and pastries are out of this world. There are a few vegan options as well although I would love to see more...:) Your staff is very friendly.

Our experience was awful. Most of the tables were taken up with people on laptops who did not appear to be customers. We were charged sort of a lot of money for burritos that weren't hot, and we were not provided silverware to eat with. When I went to the counter to ask for utensils I was initially ignored.

The Coffee Spot is one my favorite cafe's in Taos! The food is good AND it's the only place I know of that you can get a Chai+Espresso+Yerba Mate rolled into one delicious gift to your Soul!! Yum!! Love the people, the art, and the atmosphere. =)

Great coffee, my favorite in Taos. Food is inexpensive and also great. Check it out. Try the Frito pie, tacos, omelets, burritos, and pies.

This place has delicious espresso. There is ample seating inside, and also a boutique of local clothes and things in the back. I didn't have a breakfast burrito here because I was en route to the Taos Diner just next door, but they looked delicious. Next time I'll try one. The staff was very friendly in that nice laid-back NM kind of way.

Terrific breakfast: we highly recommend the waffles, breakfast sandwich, and breakfast burrito (with green chile at least). Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and sweet dog named Chunk who hangs out in the front.

Favorite coffee place in Taos. They have the best hot drinks and they are consistent in their drink making. You can count on your drink tasting the same day after day which is a huge rarity in Taos. They also have the best breakfast burrito in Taos for people on the GO. Super friendly and you can tell they take pride in what they do! Free wireless and lots of parking too!
