El Camino is in a great little spot perched high over Paseo del Publo Sur (hence their name). The decor is Chicano-chic. Nice change of music from your typical Taos night spot. Their ceviche, and their tacos are excellent. And their cocktails are awesome. My favorite so far has been the cucumber vodka cocktail. Check out their website here, lots of food and drink shots- elcaminonm.com

Walking into this place at eleven pm on a Friday evening, I honestly was expecting to not like this bar popping with hip hop music we could hear from the street, but I was pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere was club-ish and loud: young crowd of people drinking and talking, bass on the music was up high and yet I found myself tapping to the beat and wanting to dance! There is something contagious about people having a good time! The lights were low but I was still able to appreciate the fun decor by local artists--a Taos bar staple I've come to realize. We ordered a drink--Yelp offers a $2 off speciality drinks coupon upon check in--and some tacos, which were made right in front of us. Tacos in Taos at 11pm?? Yes please. It is all they offer to eat after 9, but you will not be disappointed. They only have three options: beef, shrimp and turkey. The beef was delicious with a chipotle mayo topping and the shrimp ceviche was on a feta spread--yummy, the perfect late night snack for only $3 each.

Ceviche and margaritas -- yes! Enjoyed the bar's creative mixology with local punch (like the Easy Rider--makers, pineapple, and candy Nerds on the rim). Also the spot for Taos nightlife, esp Fridays--great music!

DON'T GO FOR THE FOOD! I ordered a roasted turkey sandwich from the menu that clearly stated avocado. The dry sandwich came without it. I asked the staff about it while pointing to the menu. One staff member said the menu was an old one another said the avocado weren't READY! Are you kidding me.

5 stars for outstanding service and hospitality! The hornitos margaritas and brisket tacos were delicious! The salsa and chips were tasty. The head chef came out to deliver his creations with pride. Clean and cool atmosphere (even the bar stools are hand-crafted). There's a large patio outdoors (with heating during the winter) that was great for a smoke and some good conversation. One section of the bar seems devoted to watching sports and the other is more about just hanging out. A great little spot in a great location!

The brisket tacos are amazing! They have a pretty cool variety of cocktails, including one with Pop Rocks around the rim. Really yummy. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any Anheuser Busch product. The bartender didn't seem to care, (literally he said, "does it look like I care?") which threw me off a bit. I couldn't tell if he was just giving me a hard time or actually being rude. I will definitely go back, but it would be nice to sip on a basic Bud Light instead of something crafty. I love trying new things, but sometimes you just gotta have your go-to!

First time ever going here.... tried a drink that was recommended by another reviewer, the easy rider. It was disgusting and I like whiskey. My husband had a blue moon, it was warm. We couldn't even finish the drinks much less even think about ordering food. The ambiance wasn't bad but I probably won't be back the next time I come through Taos.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
