Wonderful? Maybe Very Good After traveling for a few weeks in New Mexico, we were happy to eat something other than the local version of Mexican food. So Chinese was a nice change. Wonderful did a nice job with that. Portions were large and prices reasonable. There could have been more chicken within the heavy breading of the chicken with orange. So...it was a little short of wonderful. But still very good.

"Wonderful House? That sounds Asian," I quipped to my wife, who was reading off the exceptionally limited lunch options available in Aztec, New Mexico. And of course I was right, it's a Chinese joint. Restaurant titles like Wonderful House win me over instantaneously, they're so endearing. I try to picture the owners (invariably a sweet, enterprising first-generation couple) having that initial conversation, I'd love to be a fly on the wall. "Wonderful House. What do you think of Wonderful House?" "Wonderful House? Oh, that's wonderful! Yes, yes, Wonderful House!" And this is a wonderful little place to find in these parts. It's everything you've learned to love in American Chinese, from the (orange?) egg drop soup to the delicate decorations, zodiac paper placemat and friendly, overwhelming service. Another review mentions a "small army" of employees, it's so true, they're all standing at attention throughout, awaiting your every wish. Clean, streamlined, and neighborhood friendly, we got in just before church got out; on Sundays expect a crowd. Unfortunately, neither my wife nor I are very big fans of American Chinese. Deep fried meat nuggets covered in sweet sauces and soupy, bland shrimp 'n broccoli just don't do much for either of us. Don't let that stop you, though; this is likely the best you'll find around these parts. I mean, come on, how could you skip a visit to Wonderful House?

The restaurant is pretty standard. You have a menu with pictures of mostly all the meals and it's what you'd find in any other Chinese restaurant. The place is clean and the staff is friendly but speak very little English. The food came out so fast I can only assume it's all pre-cooked. I had orange tofu and asked for extra steam broccoli to balance out my food being drenched in orange sauce. Overall the place is good and filling.

Great authentic Chinese food at the right price. Loved the Fried Squid. For spicy lovers, the Hunan Triple Delight has quite a kick while theWonderful House Special is great tasting with the right mix of scallops, shrimp, chicken, pork bbq and a variety of vegetables.

The friendliest people and the best Hot n Sour soup! This is our lunch place on Sundays after church. I look forward to going there every week.

Whoa! I would come back here in a second. We had hoped to have New Mexican food, but on a Sunday there were very few places open. Wonderful House is very nice inside, and there is a small army of Chinese employees to serve and cook for you here. The food was super good (we had kung pao chicken, garlic broccoli and moo shoo pork). The servings were very large and the vegetables plentiful and fresh. I wish we had a Chinese place this good at home!

Still the same, great food. I just thought they need a 5 instead of a 4 star rating.

Don't let the plain, unassuming 'strip mall' exterior fool you. The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly and they are pleasantly accommodating for people with food sensitivities. I can't eat gluten (or have MSG), they told me what menu choices were going to work for me. I had the sesame chicken with steamed rice and it was fantastic! Also, the interior was very clean. Even the restrooms were immaculate. *more info from my "tip": If you have Celiac, then it's still way too risky in my opinion. But I think any restaurant that isn't DEDICATED Gluten Free, or at the very least has a dedicated GF space in the kitchen AND an educated staff just is NOT worth the risk.

Had two good entrees. Large portions and good tasting. Clean and pleasant dining area and good service. One piece of advice . . . Don't order the crab Rangoon. Hardly any filling . . . Mostly overly crunchy outer layer.

Worst chinese food I have ever eaten. First of all the food is way too salty, the water is disgusting, and the egg drop soup is oily and orange. The fried rice is ok but so salty. I've tried this place three times, tried different plates and was disappointed each time. In my opinion you could make better chinese food at home. Save your money.

I had the beef and broccoli and it was way too salty. I could not even finish the meal. Should have stuck to a veggie dish or appetizers. Restaurant was clean and service was fine. We asked for a recommendation on the soup and the waiter said " I don't know you are going to eat it" should of left then.

I have been telling people for years I wish I could find Chinese food that taste's like it did when I was a kid. I finally found it at Wonderful House. The beef chop suey was outstanding on Tuesday. And, on Saturday the beef egg foo young and pork fried rice was incredible. I live in Farmington NM and the Wonderful House is in Aztec about 40 miles away. This will be the only place I will go for Chinese food. Great food, great prices and, the portions are huge.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
