Love love love this place! This is now my absolute favorite donut place in town!!! I had a donut with chocolate, pecan, and caramel and oh my gosh it was so good! I also tried the pumpkin chocolate cake donut and that was really good too! The donuts here are really good looking and good tasting. The people who work the front are also incredibly friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Ordered half a dozen for two people. Great variety, included some delicious fried options, and friendly staff. Yum! French toast and PB&J stood out to us most but every one was great and not too sweet. Most importantly, good coffee- several roast options- to cut the richness. Recent menu additions in stuffed sopapillas but had to save that for our next trip. Can't wait!

Best donuts in Albuquerque. They also make Gold Bars and delicious candies. The service is awesome and everyone is super friendly. Check out their happy hour!

Got a half dozen donuts for Mothers Day. Very good maple donut-my favorite. Mother really liked the cinnamon bun. Saw several with bacon but stuck with the classics . Solid hit.

Amazing! I absolutely love this place! I have taken many friends with me to try this place and all of them have loved it. The location is great (especially for me since i live not two minutes away) and the food is great! I very much so liked the stuffed sopaipillas!

If you like cake donuts, this is the place for you! Some people prefer the yeast ones.. (like krispy kreme style..) which they have too but their cake donuts are OUT OF THIS WORLD... can't go back to dunkin after having these...love how when i'd eat them at work and set them on my napkin, they left a great donut shaped greasy ring on the napkin.. oh well.. that ring reminds me that I should only have one at a time.. :( my personal fav is the maple cake donut... dipped in some coffee.. ugh... the BEST!

Best cake donuts I've ever had, and I have a donut problem. The SAMOA flavor was amazing.

A-MA-ZING! I have been traveling a lot lately, and I always search yelp for the best donut place. Duke City Donuts is not just the best donut place in ABQ, it's the best donut place in the last few cities I have been to. I got the Samoa and the chocolate turtle. I'm not a big chocolate donut fan, but I had to try the chocolate turtle. It was good, but not nearly as amazing as the Samoa. I think the best thing about both donuts was the actual donut itself. It was crispy on the outside with a dense, moist, butter-milky inside. I could have eaten both donuts plain and I would have been more satisfied than eating the best glazed donut at Dunkin'.

Stepped in today for a few donuts... walked out with a dozen.. sometimes I can't help myself. When I walk into Duke City Donuts Im always up for a surprise never knowing if the shelves will be overstuffed or if they'll be mostly sold out! today I was in for a treat! They had what I believe the manager called Gold Bars.. Peanut Butter Bar with a lovely chocolate topping similar to a Reese's cup! Oh it made My Day!!! We also had a combination of other favorites along with the new flava-flav of peanut butter & chocolate donut! Walked out with quite a Kool smile on my face! I'll be back soon!!

4.5. In addition to a changing array of fantastic donut creations (as if that wasn't enough) they also make biscuits and gravy from scratch, using locally made sausage. They're not the usual buttermilk types but a great way to start the day after a late night out. Very reasonable prices and great service bring it all together. Theres not much to say about the donuts, they speak for themselves. They usually have a bacon-topped maple, raised glazed and several cake styles, and today they had both butterfinger and cocoa crispy topped versions. Those at just a bit more pricey but worth it to treat yourself. Just look for the yellow building near the corner of Eubank and candelaria. Do yourself a favor.

Honestly, I had very high expectations for DCD as friends have said they're the best donuts in ABQ. When I arrived I was immediately disappointed, as they had a very small assortment of donuts to choose from. This was about 9:45 on a Saturday morning and maybe we'd just missed the prime pickings of the lineup but regardless, it felt abandoned. My wife and I each picked out 3 donuts. I chose the classic raised chocolate, a vanilla sprinkled and some sort of French Toast idea. Of those three, the Chocolate one was the best. The other donuts were novelty and didn't taste great... I took about 2 bites of each and decided they weren't worth the calories for their flavor. The actual dining area isn't bad, it was clean and well organized with coffee selections abundant. The establishment is VERY small so if you have a big group you'd be better going to another donut place. I think there were 4-5 small 2 person tables. As a whole, this donut place was a bust. If we returned I'd stick to the chocolate raised but honestly I would need to see a big improvement in customer service and food quality and selection.

Omg I have had the best donuts ever from Duke City Donuts...I ordered 1 raspberry filled and 1 glazed, omg when I took my 1st bite of the berry I was reborn it was juicy berry filled and delicious, there was an explosion of flavor in my mouth and I wanted to do a silly commercial on the floor about the party in my mouth but Don't worry folks I restrained myself..now I must say it was a good experience and yummy but let's talk about the glazed donut it was great and not to sweet but perfect it went well with my hot tea and between the 2 donuts I was dancing in my head like Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire singing sweet mystery of love at last I found you and I now know no more Krispy Kream or Dunken Donuts for me ever again I recommend this place highly...

This Duke City is the one I love, this one, across from the bowling alley. Not those others, I haven't even been to them and I don't want to. This is my Dukes. The kids who work here are friendly and engaging, willing to describe the donuts to me for as long as it takes. My all time favorite is maple cake and they do it perfect here. The cake is always fresh, the maple is thick and fills my mouth without any of that greasy sugar yeasty bleck that sometimes accompanies a donut. No, no, no, never happens here. They also have a huge selection. My second favorite - lemon anything. Got it. Husband's favorite - chocolates, specials. Got 'em. We wandered in here on a Sunday afternoon and every shelf had fresh donuts on it. If I had tried the same thing over at Rebel I'd be lucky if there were a few crumbs left. Oh donuts! You complete me! I adore your cruncy cakey exterior and long to feel your sugary rush! Maple, maple, maple!!

Biscuits and gravy so good I licked the plate. (And I'm picky being a Texan of Alabama lineage.) Donuts so fresh they melt in your mouth. New Mexico piñon coffee. My companion loved his stuffed sopaipilla. Amazing service too!

  • Aaron W.

Doughnuts and New Mexico Pinon Coffee -- along with breakfast burritos and biscuits & gravy? Sounds good to me! Fairly small place on the inside, but an award-winning place. Raspberry-Filled Doughnut: Tons of granulated sugar on the outside reminded me of Hawaii's malasada. Plentiful dark red raspberry filling. Light and fluffy. Pecan Turtle Doughnut: Includes house-made caramel. Much heavier and quite decadent. If you love chocolate, pecans, and caramel, this is for you. If I tried to eat more than a couple, I likely would have slipped into a food coma and missed the flight home. Naturally, I hoped to find some dessert with red chile or green chile powder, but no dice this time. A good place to start your morning, especially if you want something sweet.

I don't care for doughnuts at all.. However Duke City doughnuts is by far the best I've ever had and I will return whenever I come back.. Do yourself right and try a Samoa

  • Seth J.

To us, this is hands down the best donut shop in ABQ. Service is always friendly, great selection, and fantastically crafted donuts. It may take us over 30 minutes to get here, but it's worth it every time. The breakfast burritos ain't too shabby either.

  • Rok J.

KILLER DONUTS!! and excellent pinyon coffee at a really good price. Duke City Donuts is my favorite donut fix in town. I've tried several different flavors of donuts here, varying the selection each time I visit, and they have all been consistently good no matter what flavor I get. They are also some of the most tender donuts I've had anywhere. These folks really have their product & processes nailed down tight to deliver consistently good eats.

Whoever is working behind the counter could care less if you're in their shop to buy donuts. Extremely dismissive. Came in on a Sunday morning only about an hour after they opened. I had to get up early so I wanted to bring some donuts home for my two boys. There was a limited selection out when I got there. I picked a dozen but while picking the dozen asked if there were any in the back that were ready to go that had more colorful sprinkles on them. I even explained that they were for my kids and how they lived the sprinkles. The guy behind the counter said no there are none in the back without even looking . So I filled the dozen and while walking out the door through the window I could see racks of donuts ready to be brought out, and lo and behold there were plenty with colorful sprinkles on them that he could have gotten . Unfortunately the guy behind the counter could not be put out to go walk back and get a few extra when I asked. Donut taste was fine but the service will make sure I don't ever come back to this place again. Again very disappointing.

As of late I have been disappointed with the selection here at DCD. I normally drop by on my way to work around 7:00 am. The shelves are bare with only maybe six or seven different donuts to choose from. It has been so long since I have been able to get any green chili bacon donuts. Since they started adding burritos and biscuits and gravy to the menu the donuts have taken a backseat.

  • Bella B.

I love these old fashioned donuts always the best not to mention the charming place is so old school inviting and customer service, particularly "Albert" is outstanding always greets you when you walk in and is always letting you know what knew creative "Donut" is available, I truly enjoy the only destination "Donut" stop in town Duke City Donuts if your looking for good old fashioned donuts at its finest!!

  • Clayton A.

I took some visitors from New York here as their first taste of New Mexico, a bit misleading except for the slight insinuation that us New Mexicans are fatties, and I think it's a precedent that I'll now follow for time eternal. If I had to say my favorite part about DCD, it's the price of a dozen donuts: under $10!!! Now, that may not seem like a big deal, but considering I went to town when ordering and chose the bacon log, creme-filled beignet (I know these aren't the exact names, but I didn't care, because I WAS EATING THE DONUTS, NOT NAMING THEM) and other donuts that at most places would come with a higher price tag. Not here. As far as I can tell, DCD has a Declaration of Donut Rights that includes the phrase: "All donuts are created equal." Or would that be a Donut Constitution? Anyway, beyond the bacon log, which I loved, I'd really encourage you to get that mint chocolate donut if it's available. Crack. I'd also encourage you to get just about every other donut though, because I loved everyone. They were all so delicious. My guests and my wife agreed. My only qualm with this place is the coffee, which was far from impressive. I'd suggest using whatever money you'd allotted for coffee and just get more donuts. Your waistline might disagree, but what does it know, it's fat.

This is the God honest truth. I'm a savory person, I've never liked sweets EVER. Donuts have never appealed to me. This morning I went to Duke city donuts to get some donuts for my family. I told the man to give me a dozen donuts randomly and choose his favorites, he did so and I went on my merry way and brought my donuts back to my family. My family was going on about how great these donuts were and I had to have a taste. One taste turned into 12 and I fell in love with these donuts! It's 10:27pm and I'm tasting the ones that are left and, Oh My Gosh!! I am now in love with donuts!!!! They are so flavorful and delicious and, for a person that has never liked sweets, these donuts made my day! Duke City Donuts is going to be a regular stop for my weekends, as well as, my weekday stops from now on! Absolutely wonderful!

Great donuts with some unique flavors: bacon/maple, chocolate turtle, samoa. they also serve local coffee and house made breakfast burritos were good as well.

This business has gone down hill. It used to be decent, but now all you find there is overly-sweet donuts and a very rude and cocky staff that makes inappropriate comments or judge you on the day you just want one donut or you are carrying your own coffee, because their coffee is terrible. Summary: there is no reason to waste your time coming here. There are much better donut shops in the NE.

  • Jack L.

Excellent selection and tasty donuts. I had the apple fritter. One of best I've had. Good decaf coffee, too. And friendly service.

    (5)
  • Portia H.

The pecan turtle and plain buttermilk donut is delicious. The cherry donut wasn't bad. The samoa donut was horrible. it had lots of cheap and sickening sweet sugar lacking any distinct flavor and ruining an otherwise good donut. I'm curious to see how Rebel Donut compares. Duke City opens at 6 AM and Rebel at 7 AM. That makes a big difference for getting to work.

  • Al S.

My waist line can't stand too many donuts so when I get one I want it to be a good one. THIS is the place to get your donuts. It's not much to look at from the outside but inside it's full of sugary goodness that is tough to beat. There are MANY choices and NOT the same garbage you get from the national chains. These are CREATIVE choices - like the Yogi Bear Claw, etc. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. There is hand-made candy too! I'd actually rate this place at 4.5 stars if I could. I would give them five stars if the prices were just a tad lower. And that's not really a complaint as much as a nit. Having a local donut shop with this caliber of donuts just makes ABQ that much more fun to live in. Delicious, tempting, tasty, original, creative, outstanding - okay I am out of adjectives. Go - you won't be disappointed.

YESSSsssssssss. I loved this place, the donuts were amazing. I tried the Samoan donut as well red chli bacon donut. And, the red chili paired really well with the chocolate on the donut. I currently live in Portland and can go to Voodoo, etc when I please and was visiting ABQ temporarily, but I do appreciate Duke City donuts much more. I can not recommend this donut shop enough!

    (5)
  • Halena O.

Super fresh amazing, as well as creative donuts! Everything made fresh daily. Can't beat biscuits and gravy voted best in abq either!

  • Steve M.

I have to go back to this place, in the morning, before I can make a complete review; but I typically rate donut shops by their rendition of my fave - the "chocolate chocolate" - which Duke City Donuts does very very well! Cinnamon cake and old-fashioneds were good, too. I'll be going back soon as I've certainly not found any better donuts in town! They're a little pricey but, then again, the donuts are big and fat (with no skimping on icing or ingredients).

    (4)
  • Andrew L.

My goodness. Double chocolate, French toast, German chocolate were the favorites of the day. I don't think I'll be going to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland any more. Albuquerque, sometimes you genuinely surprise me.

  • Stephanie N.

I was disappointed they didn't have any red velvets. But the ones I tried were pretty good. My favorite was the girl's scout samoa donuts. My husband likes to keep things safe & sticks w/ his usual...the glazed. Good but nothing in my opinion beats Krispy kreme's glazed, melts in your mouth. The guy behind the counter was awesome. He was very patient w/ my indecisiveness & even hooked me up w/ flavors I regretted not getting. it was probably because it was near closing time. I'll be back for those Samoa donuts.

  • Kimi T.

The people working here are so nice! They could tell it was my first time here and were giving me some background info of the shop as I was trying to decide which donuts to try. I ended up getting the maple/bacon donut (which I've heard many good things about) and decided to try a green chile/apple filled donut that they just started making. (Just a word of warning to those that aren't big fans of chile jelly, you should probably skip the green chile/apple filled donut. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm not a big fan of chile jelly. I think I just wanted to be nice and give it a shot since it was suggested when I was ordering and completely had a brain fart when I agreed to give it a try.) But the maple/bacon donut was THE BEST THING EVER! I loved the salty/sweet combination and the maple glaze was so yummy! It wasn't as hard as a rock either, and I picked it up around 11am. I think this is my favorite donut of all time. I'll definitely be back to try more of their donuts, but if you haven't tried their maple/bacon donut, stop by and get one ASAP!

Great local donut shop close to my house, the service was good and will be back to try more of there donuts..

  • Natalie V.

Excellent plain donut. Doughy inside but firm and crisp outside. The fancy donuts looked like sugary masterpieces but a good plan donut is hard to find. No need to dip it in tea or coffee. Moist enough on its own. My plain and my Hubby's glazed came to $2.14 but when we handed owner $3, he insisted $2 was acceptable. How kind?! We ended up finding $.13 in our pocket and dropped that plus a single in the tip jar. Highly recommend this donut shop!

  • Eric And Jennifer R.

Keep in mind we do not have a sweet tooth. The donuts were too rich for our taste. However, they have creative flavors and excellent service. Their breakfast empanada can feed two adults or four young children. It is flavorful and unique. Lots of parking and easy to find.

When is a donut ever bad? Duke City is a nice little shop in Albuquerque, locally owned, and filled with delicious treats. The donuts themselves are awesome, with al kinds of innovative flavors - we recently tried the coconut eclair, which was amazingly awesome. I cannot wait to try that one again, it was so good! They also have fudge, chocolates, and more specialized upscale type pastries. Everything I have ever tried there is pretty damn good. They recently moved from one building on the little mall they're in to a bigger, better building - more space = more/better offerings. The space is clean and well-lit and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Not much to complain about here a good stuff!

  • Marc M.

These were absolutely great donuts. The Blueberry Fritter was exceptional with a pervasive blueberry flavor in every bite. Maple Cream Filled was very tasty. My wife had the Maple Bacon Raised Donut. Great maple flavor, but we both felt the bacon strip was almost there for decoration. It didn't have much of a salty taste to it but maybe our palates are off a bit?. The Coconut Cream Filled was off the chain. Pinon Nut Coffee available which I had never tasted before. Very smooth and delicious. When we come back to visit Albuquerque again, we will be back for more. We could tell that Duke City really cares about their donuts and their customers.

Was in ABQ for work and decided to bring donuts to the office. I'm so glad I decided to try Duke City Donuts. The Donuts were superb. I bought 18 donuts: glazed, blueberry fritters, apple fritters, various cake with different toppings like chocolate, nuts, maple, and a caramel drizzle. Tried an apple tart too. I personally tried one of each fritter and a cake with sprinkles. All were very good. The folks in the office loved them too. Duke City had a good selection of drinks. The place is clean and the service is good and friendly. I recommend Duke City and am looking forward to my next trip to ABQ, I mean Duke City in October. Check their website for pictures of the goods.

Having just moved to Albuquerque from Portland, OR (home of the famous voodoo doughnuts) I immediately looked for a new doughnut place to love. Well, I FOUND IT. Duke City Donuts is SO good. Better than Voodoo in my opinion! First off, they have a lot of cake donuts (which I prefer to the yeast) and so much variety! Each time I have gone, there has been something I didn't see the time before and had to try. I love that there is always something new try. I think the best donut they have is the Samoa donut. If you like the Girl Scout cookies, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this donut. I can't even find words to describe how tasty this donut was. Other notable donuts I have tried include German Chocolate, Mint Chocolate, and French Toast. My husband adores the Maple Bacon and the Butterfinger donuts. The donuts are also incredibly well priced compares to other gourmet donut shops I've been to across the country. More donuts for your dollar! :) The staff (and fellow customers!) are so nice too! The first time we came in here, we had customers giving us suggestions and welcoming us to Albuquerque and the staff was also super nice. We were never rushed as we drooled over the selection and the girls behind the counter had helpful hints based on what we said we liked in our donuts. Haven't tried their chocolates yet, but they look delicious as well!

The first time I ever walked in here, I was surrounded by a delicious cloud of sugary donut-y fog. It smelled fabulous and I couldn't wait to try a donut. I bought a few -- toasted coconut, chocolate and peanut, and plain. In the car, I inhaled the plain one and had to turn around to get a few more. So yummy!! There is a nice light crust to the donut and once your teeth pierce it you are rewarded with a light, soft inside. So good that, upon returning, I rarely get any flavoured except sometimes a cinnamon sugar or apple-filled. The plain donuts are sweet enough for me, adding a bunch of sugary glaze or chocolate on top makes them almost too sweet and I can't imagine how overpoweringly sweet the Butterfinger or cookies n' creme ones are. (I did have to taste the maple bacon one. Good, but the maple is, again, very sweet.) They do have coffee, but just regular drip, nothing fancy. (Excellent for dipping plain donuts in, though!) I was a little surprised that they don't have an espresso machine. Obviously their focus is on the donuts, which is fine by me. They also sell chocolates which looked fabulous, but I have yet to try some. Maybe next time, as I'll certainly be back. (Perhaps it should be noted that I am a Dunkin Donuts fan. Can't stand Krispy Kreme, for several reasons including that I find them much too sweet.)

  • Lorenzo S.

All I can say is OMG! My daughter and I first found this place on their opening weekend. The donuts were awesome, so much more fresh and tasty than Dunkin or other shops in ABQ. Ok, understand this place is a Mom and Pop business, so don't expect the world's best selection...but expect incredible donuts that are well worth the drive. I had the blueberry bear claws and they were incredible. My daughter ordered the Samoan which was really good. Very friendly people and great coffee.

  • T.R. A.

Well within the "some of the best donuts I've ever had" range, Duke City Donuts is certainly one our our favorite places to swing in and get something sweet. This is perfectly the small, absolutely local, exactly-how-it-should-be kind of business that we love. And not only are the donuts really, really good--whether you're looking for something simple like a glazed, or something more elaborate and awesome like a butterfinger-crusted--but they stay fresh. We definitely won't eat a whole dozen in one day; but they are still great the next morning. Definitely our #1 sweets stop in Albuquerque!

  • Erik E.

Stopped by last weekend and realized that I was too stingy with my stars. This place rocks! What's more, they've expanded the donut side of the business since I'd written my last review and now have a few filled donuts in the case. The expansion is also reflected in their new name, Duke City Donuts. I was happy to see some Voodoo Donut influence (a very cool Portland, OR donut shop) on my last visit. They had a maple frosted donut with strips of bacon and a fruit loop covered donut! Derivative, but too cool to care that it's derivative. I am withholding one star because there are a couple offerings here that I don't care for, and some donuts that I really like that are not here, but that's just me. I'm sure there are others who are just fine with the selection. P.S. Also, Krispy Kreme is back in town since my last review.

  • Ken F.

This is by far my favorite donut place in Albuquerque and I've eaten a lot of donuts. They are always freshly made and so tasty. I imagine that they are not very healthy at all. My favorites are maple bacon and cookies and cream. Duke City moved recently (sometime in the last 6 months or so) from the back of a plaza to a location right on Eubank so now it is much easier to find.

    (5)
  • Margaret M.

I stopped in with the kids and mom because someone said Duke City had won 'best donut in ABQ' in an office competition. The donuts are in fact some of the best I've ever had. But they make other items too - like fudge, delicious! And chocolate toffees, and choco-covered candy canes & marshmallows, among other temptingly tantalizing confectionery delights. Oh, and then - then there's popcorn - the red chili caught my eye, but after sampling & buying fudge for Christmas gifts & getting donuts for brunch...it's just something I'll have to go back for! (The service was also awesome!)

Somewhat of a donut aficionado, I recently tried another highly rated donut shop only to be very disappointed. Today I visited Duke City donuts in Scottsdale village. Now this is the real thing - easily the best cake donuts in the city. Highly recommended - even with the traffic problems due to construction in the area. Well worth the trouble to get there.

Count your blessings, ABQ, because if you can appreciate crafted donuts, Enchantment has them. If you check out my other reviews and donut list (I live in Chicago,) you'll see that I take donuts seriously. Dunkin' is okay, but they by no means raise the bar for standards of delicious (how can an old-fashioned with a SOFT crust be considered ACCEPTABLE?) Anyway- any chance I get to try an independent donut shop, I jump on the chance and Enchantment Chocolates rewarded me in a big way. Prices are reasonable. Coffee is good. Actually good. ---I'll have to do an edit when I find my notes. Its been about 4 weeks and to try and just go off memory would not do these little gems proper justice. MORE TO COME---

  • Robert B.

I've been to a lot of donut places. You might say I'm a bit of a donut snob. So, after recently relocating to ABQ (all of 2 weeks ago), one of my top priorities was to find a good donut place. Dunkin is okay. Krispy Kreme is good. But Duke City is very good! Their glazed (always the yardstick by which donut shops are measured) were light and fluffy. The chocolate topped were the same and the chocolate was tasty and firm, not drippy. The Boston Cream (one of my favorites) was not the best I have had, but was quite nice. They had a few unique flavors (like cookies and cream), but I wish they had a few more. I guess the summer is the off season, but we die hard donut lovers deserve the best year round. The selection was a little sparse when I went, and that, along with the lack of any real coffee offerings, is the reason for only 4 stars. That and I'm picky. But, count on me being back!

Great Donuts. My Co-workers chip in and demand that I go once week to get a dozen. Hand made and delicate and delicious. Try these once I know you will want more.

We all know the bar has been raised for the simple donut. Major cities such as NY have upped the ante with shops called Donut Plant and Mikes. What makes these average little rounds of dough go above and beyond is the crispy outside, the fluffy inside, and great ingredients for the middle. So this leads me to my experience of Duke City. I was totally jazzed to go and try some of these babies and did arrive mid afternoon to find that many varieties had sold out, a good sign I thought. So I bought Apple and Cherry filled, glazed, and lemon glazed. The first bite of the jelly donuts was nicely crisp and sugary on the outside and then I tasted and saw the fluorescent pink/red of goo and wondered, what did they put inside this thing? It might have been jello but sure was not jelly or jam, my preference. The apple one reminded me of the McDonald's "apple pie" fried treat, though admittedly I have not had one in two decades. Alas, I was disappointed. The other two varieties were not anything to even review, very mundane and uninspiring so Meh, I've had better. At 80 Cents each, ok if you're desperate. Perhaps I will go one more time in the early morning to taste the fresh donuts, my favorite being the Boston Creme variety, which they were out of today.
