Thank the Lord there is an Indian grocery store in Albuquerque now! This store opened a while back. Initially, it was a bit shaky. But with time, the store has expanded its clientele, and with it, its selections. All the bases are covered. Pulses, flours, spices, snacks, pickles are all available in good variety. With time, the fresh vegetable selection has improved substantially. I can finally get the vegetables I need to prepare home cooked food. (Ta lin market never really provided many of these veggies integral to Indian cooking consistently or reliably). They also have thums up, frozen things of all kinds, and Bollywood movies. The owners are friendly and helpful. I am grateful for this store every week when I tuck into my homemade roti, daal, or subzi.

If you love Indian food, you should support this little place before going to Talin. Albuquerque is in desperate need of more diversity! The last time I was there they had most of what you'd need, all the different types of dal, rice, flours, pickles and spices (some were Rani's.) I even picked up different herbal powders for my hair. The staff were incredibly friendly.

I'm very pleased with the selection of groceries - being from the NYC area I wasn't expecting a lot. They have a wide variety of spices, flours, rices, frozen foods, halal items, vegetable, frozen fish, pani puri. Strangely, the only thing they don't have is naan (just those frozen kinds). But, they have great kulfi! Besides Talin market, they're really the only place on ABQ for Desi groceries and they've got a lot of hard to find items. The owners are very friendly, too. We're really thankful that they're around. Worth a visit.

As the other reviewer noted, Talin has some of the same spices and other ingredients necessary to preparing South Asian food. However, Bombay Spice has the freshest, widest assortment you will find in town (believe it or not, spices DO go stale, and I've purchased some less than desirable ground spices over the years at Talin). Help support a relatively new local business and the increasing diversity of cuisines here in Albuquerque.

Yeah! I love Indian markets. Tons of spices, pickles galore, all the pulses your heart desires, and a few extras. Worth a stop for curry necessities and curiosities!

Talin, as much as I love this store, can run out of spices from time to time. So, where do you head when you need Chat Masala to make dinner? The answer is now on Central my friend. Bombay Spice is a nice addition to the international grocery scene here in Albuquerque. It is a small store--like something I would expect back home on Devon Street--but they have many different kinds of spices and a limited selection of fresh produce packed into this small space. The prices are reasonable and the owners have been very helpful even when I have managed to forget my glasses, they were patient enough to point me to the product I was looking for. So, if you need curry leaves, amchur powder, or other spices stop by Bombay Spice.
