Went there today. Hadn't been in for over a year or so, the last time the wife and I were there the place was awful; but now under new management they have improved a lot. It is really hard to find a good cheeseburger in any town; so finding one here was a pleasant surprise. Hot and juicy and full of that wonderful grilled flavour, not the lukewarm pasty crap you get form the chains or the over dressed mess you get in other places. It was just your good old basic cheeseburger and the hand cut fries are great.

I've always enjoyed the Alamo Grill and mainly call and place take out orders. Today I called and asked to place an order and was asked to hold because it was their lunch rush, 5 minutes later she came back on the phone and asked if I could call back because it was busy there! Really girl? Left on hold than told to call back later? My money isn't good enough anymore I guess! Dianne W

WORST...and I mean WORST service I have ever experienced. Wow, such attitudes among the wait staff! Food is very mediocre at best but I'd rather go hungry than try to eat here again. Do yourself a favor and skip this craphole.

It's tough to find a great Mexican-American resturant in Alamogordo..until now. Having grown up in CA and having lived in TX, I expected NM to have their own flair for Mexican cuisine, and they do. Nearly ALL of them in ALamogordo miss the mark. Alamo Grill DOES NOT! They are the ONLY Mexican restaurant in Alamogordo that I will eat at, otherwise I will stay home and cook my own version. Never had a bad meal or experience at this place. AND, they have Mexican menu items seldom seen elsewhere in Alamogordo, like Tripas tacos, and homemade Posole. Alamo Grill is not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it is the best in Alamogordo.

What can I say, the food is fabulous!! I had the steak and it was excellent! My guy had the chimichanga it was good as well. Friend had the enchiladas and she loved them as well. Good portions, good prices, good service!! This will most definitely be on my list of places to come back to!!

I often stop in for breakfast. Always get the huevos rancheros and am never disappointed both red and green , I prefer the green. If they use the same sauce for the enchiladas they should be good also. Service is friendly

The place needs some work done for renovations. Looks a little old and ragged. Food is really tasty. Great burgers. They have American staples but have some Mexican dishes that are pretty good. Decent place to go.

Great all-around local restaurant that hits the spot when you aren't craving the standard mainstream restaurant meal. Their menu consists of burgers, Mexican, fish...think home style with Mexican mixed in. I have to admit I always eat the same thing because it is delicious - the Avocado & Bacon Cheeseburger! This burger is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten and the home style fries (the ones with the skin still on them) are great. Yeah, it's greasy but I'm not eating a salad. I've had the onion rings too and they are good. My wife gets the Mexican taco plate and their tacos are great as well. Sometimes folks forget about the rice and beans but they are just as important. The rice here is always cooked perfectly (not under cooked like you often find) and has a great flavor. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a hometown place and that's just the way we like it. I've never noticed anything dirty which would definitely lower my review. Great place and I would recommend it for families that need to satisfy varying tastes.

WOW. Maybe this place is better at a different time, but we had a disgusting experience. The salsa tasted store bought, and we found long black hairs in our chips! Also, the iced tea that was served to us was murky and almost yellow from being so pale and watered down. Definitely were grossed out. The food served was edible, but was extremely poor quality. I can't even give another star for service, because our waitress only seemed interested in flirting with the guy across from us. I don't know how this "restaurant" can have any decent reviews after our horrid experience, but maybe we just got REALLY bad luck. Definitely would NOT recommend this place. Take your business elsewhere.

This place has good diner grub. There aren't any standout dishes, but everything is well-executed, and service is fast and attentive. The "Steakhouse" in the name is left over from a previous incarnation--they don't have steaks on the menu. The Mexican breakfasts are good, and usually include refried beans and rice along with the entree. One drawback is that the restaurant is very noisy, partly from the acoustics of the building and partly from a blaring TV.

In my humble opinion this is the best kept breakfast secret in town. Please do not go here for breakfast stay away........ that way there will be more food and room for me. I would eat the biscuits and gravy every day and twice on sunday they are that good. Also my wife is a vegatarian and always finds something to eat here and if not she just drinks they coffee which she says is very good as well.. My recommendation run dont walk and get some great loacal breakfast here.

Not sure if it was just our visit, but nothing special here. Family of four went for breakfast at 10 am and was unimpressed. Standard food stuffs, but what was noticeable was all our food arrived, except my Belgian waffle. I waited a good 10 minutes for it to arrive after all the other food. It arrived completely disfigured and I was offered a pancake to make up for it. I came here for a waffle, so I instead ate the thing. Honestly, it tasted pretty good, so I imagine a pristine, non mashed and disfigured waffle would have been great. The waitress said their waffle maker died, poor thing. If they read this, I highly suggest getting a spare for these embarrassing situations as the batter was actually yummy. Other than that the meal and service was average and I have no complaints.

Went for a Saturday night dinner. I had a Mexican plate and my aunt had menudo. Food was okay-ish, but the place just seemed kind of gross and dirty. Maybe breakfast-time would have been a better choice? Regardless, I probably won't go back. There's better places.

Kind of hole in the wall, yet good. Service was fast and friendly, my burger was very good. Steak fries were hot and fresh; I love steak fries! I walked out stuffed for under ten bucks... lots of locals here. At the time I went there it was a sea of cowboy hats all around. Tasty food that won't break the bank, ample with lots of good service.

I have been to this establishment several times and found the food to be good so we returned tonight and I ordered the enchiladas combo and my son and husband ordered a green chili smothered burrito after half way thru my son noticed a hair in twined in the cheese in his burrito he then asked the waitress discreetly to look at the hair he found she said can you wait till i take these peoples order first my son said no problem she then returned to the table and took his plate away and took into the kitchen after about 15 minutes we were ready to leave we walked up to the cash register to pay when instead of apologizing the waitress shouted out the owner said he will take off half i said the polite and professional thing to do in this situation was to apologize she then said loudly I didn't make it the owner did she then turned her back and walked away she returned a few seconds later and said the owner was to busy to speak to a paying customer I will never eat at this place ever! again because of the way we were treated as if we planted a hair in there food disgusted

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
