I've been here a few times now. The food and service are excellent. This place is a bit of a hotspot on the weekends, makes sure you make a reservation. Staff was accommodating to our seating request. Can not wait to get back to Red Cadillac!

My husband brought me here this past Saturday night. We had a great time. Very cute and funky theme restaurant! The menu is short, but the drink list is long. The sort of place I was in the mood for. The food is terrific, and so was the staff. Great place to meet a bunch of friends and have a good time.

I love this place! The infused tequilas taste incredible, but you have to watch out because they will get you very drunk. The food is always fresh, as I've heard the owner shops for his menu every day. The people are very friendly...the music was great and the food is fresh and delicious! I recommend it highly!

Nice atmosphere. Food is good. Didn't try the drinks. They only do valet parking, which is kind of odd for the area.

Disclaimer: First of all let me start off by saying I am Mexican & I am a California native, therefore I know authentic Mexican food when I taste it. Q's 1. Is this the taste of authentic Mexican? NO 2. Is it delicious? YES 3. Is it unique? YES 4. Is the ambiance cool? YES 5. Is the service efficient, helpful, respectful, and bright? YES 6. Do they have a liquor license? YES 7. Is there a fully stocked bar? YES 8. Is there music? YES (& there is a Live band on Friday & Saturday) My Bo brought me here under no false pretense, I asked for good & unique food so we came here! The food selection is more fun than traditional Mexican food, the empanada was tasty! The nachos are like a master piece, and the burritos also have their own special touch. With that said, I do not believe this place is striving to be the most authentic Mexican food restaurant, but the coolest restaurant Union has to offer. This place is very fashion forward, maybe a little too much for this town if you are not open minded. I felt like I was at home, this place reminds me of the local hang outs in Melrose or Silver Lake, CA. Even the decor and style of waiters is like the Rock a Billie Scene that LA caters to. In short this place is COOL, TASTY, & REASONABLE! Embrace the difference and do not shy from what you are not familiar with. Red Cadillac is a cool place to bring your friends or celebrate a birthday, it is an all in one!

This is a true Yelp story: It was a Friday night and I had just finished a round of mini golfing with a date when we both decided that we should go and get some food. However, for both of us, it was our first time in Union, NJ so we had no idea what restaurants were around us. True, I should have put more planning into this before, but I didn't anticipate that she would have such an aversion to Indian food, Turkish food, and would despise the idea of another Italian meal. So Mexican came to mind and a quick search on Yelp gave me The Red Cadillac as the nearest and best rated Mexican restaurant. Taking a girl you're trying to impress to an unknown restaurant is risky, and I'll admit it, I was very nervous not knowing what to expect, but I had to do it. Driving up to the place I was impressed that there actually was a red Cadillac in front of the restaurant in addition to complimentary valet. Stepping into the restaurant you quickly notice the dim red lighting which to some may be annoying but to me was impressive as I've never been to a restaurant that was bold enough to try this. The entire restaurant deserves high points to sticking with its theme. Inside the restaurant you feel as if you're in an auto shop and the walls are decorated with photos of cars. There was live music in the front of the restaurant which was nice but my date was enjoying the singer's voice and guitar playing a little too much so I was glad the wait to get a table was short. I had ordered the fish tacos and my date had the chicken enchiladas. The free chips and salsa were great as it allowed my date and I to eat and be comfortable while we were waiting for our meal. When it came I was surprised at the portions not the mention the black beans and rice that we got complimentary. Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish all the food but it was pretty good. The fish tacos here are excellent. They are just the right size and the fish is fried to perfection. You can easily eat the tacos without making a mess and the sauces that come with it make it even better. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and ambiance, so what more can you ask for?

The first time I tried The Red Cadillac, I had a less than optimal experience. A group of friends (about 6 of us) came here on a VERY busy Saturday night. I suppose the kitchen was completely overwhelmed that night due to a fairly large birthday party going on. We expected to wait a bit even before we got there, as we knew this place gets busy on Saturday nights-so that wasn't the problem. We had reservations, but ended up having to wait about a half hour extra. That was a bit off putting, but things happen so..that wasn't too big of a deal. We sat and talked, and I enjoyed the live music act and fun atmosphere. We were finally seated right next to the live music being played, which made it impossible to hear or talk at our table. We ordered appetizers, which didn't take too too long to come out. Shortly after, we ordered our dinners..and that's where my experience went down hill. It took an hour and a half for our food to come out. It was absolutely ridiculous. We tried to talk and pass the time (over the PA speakers right next to us), but frustration finally set in. The owner eventually came over to apologize for the wait and offered us a shot of homemade tequila, but half of the people I was with did not drink, so this was a nice gesture, but not very useful. Finally the food came out. I ordered a salad (which yeah kinda boring for a Mexican restaurant-I know, I was trying to be good! haha). The salad was served in a taco shell which was cool, but the salad itself was nothing spectacular (but what do you want, it's a salad haha). After dinner we ordered desserts, and I tried one of my friend's churros which were delicious. By the time the night ended, I left the restaurant with a general bad taste in my mouth, with no plans to return. One night a few months later (this past week), a couple of friends of mine wanted to go back and I figured I'd give them another try. This time it was a much better experience. We did go on a Saturday night, but it was very rainy so the restaurant was not packed. We were seated in about 15 minutes and enjoyed a mango margarita while we waited. I ordered a chimichanga this time with chicken, and though it wasn't the best I've had, it was ok. Again we ordered the churros, which again were just great. The service was faster than last time and we had a good experience. Would I go back? Only if my friends are dying to go. Otherwise, I've had better Mexican-Inspired food elsewhere.

Excellent food, fun atmosphere. When the water is poured out of gas cans and the chips are served in tin pails, you know they're a cool spot. Be ready for valet-only parking around the back on the weekends.

This place is so much fun!! It's got a trendy chic mechanical feel to it. It's a very small menu, but the food is really good. The chicken enchiladas are my fav! What this place is about is Tequila and Tacos. plain and simple. This is a great place if you want to lounge out with your friends or work pals. The bar is a hoot! If your into tequila they have infused tequilas. Red hots are my favorite. It goes down smooth. Mango tequila with mango sugar is delicious too. But nothing beats a bohemia beer and a strawberry infused vodka shot! You gotta check this place out. Don't go in there expecting a 5 star rest. because it's not. Its a place to have a good time, let your hair down, relax and enjoy yourself! GO FOR THE FUN ATMOSPHERE! THE SANGRIA, THE MARGARITAS. PS - There closed mondays and tues.

Found this restaurant by searching Yelp. My husband and I were nervous about it being crowded on a Friday night, but we arrived at 6pm and half the restaurant was empty so we got seated right away. We had no problem with the valet (free except tip) leaving our car at 6 and no wait to get our car at 7:15. There was one waitress for drinks and one waitress for food in our section of the restaurant. It did take longer than expected to get service, but we had waters and chips & salsa while we waited. I tried the blue sangria, which was a little too sweet for my liking but I had wanted to try something new. My husband tried the cafe infused tequila and it was light and smooth. For dinner we tried the empanada appetizer which was just so-so; they tasted like they were just frozen and then fried. I ordered the fish tacos after reading rave reviews here on Yelp, and they did not disappoint. I was excited to eat my leftovers today for lunch! The batter the fish were fried in was tasty, and the chipotle dressing was delicious, and I don't usually like fish! My husband had the chicken enchiladas which were also good. This is a restaurant we would definitely return to!

Great local Mexican restaurant. I'm a huge fan of their margaritas here. I'm not sure what makes them so good, but they are! First time I had food from here, it was a to-go order. First impression- not too shabby for a place in NJ. Ate here a few times after, and definitely enjoyed the food. Fish tacos are something to try! The ambiance is pretty nice as well. They have live music on some nights (not too sure when-sorry!). Don't forget the margarita(s).

FUN! Love the selection of infused tequila. Very good drinks. Very good food. Nice live music. Such a long wait on a Friday night. Walked in with no reservations and waited more than an hour. Do not go here if you are starving and will hate waiting. I think it was well worth the wait.

To start, the The Cadillac CHROME margarita's are the best my husband and I ever had. The couple we went with felt the same. Wait staff very attentive. One of the owners sat down to briefly chat with us and make sure everything was ok. Highly recommend the fish tacos. Love this place. (valet staff a little overwhelmed but did the best they could)

I've been here quite a few times and the food and atmosphere is great! The servers are all very nice as well my only issue was how long it took for the servers to come to your table they were slow and took awhile to come over just to check on things we found ourselves at the end just waiting for our check for quite some time. My only suggestion would be to either get more servers or have them move faster. Other than that everything was great and we enjoyed our dinner!

Definitely would not list this on my Top 5 Mexican Restaurant list! My boyfriend lives in the neighborhood and we decided to stop in with a couple of our friends... we were celebrating a birthday. Place was packed...live music was being played. We hit the bar for tequila shots. Side-bar: we are a group who KNOW OUR LIQUOR - the bartender was a bit pushy that we try some of the blended tequila which we declined for straight shots.... A SQUIRREL wouldn't get a buzz off of the watered down crap that we were served. Such a huge disappointment. No way would I give the food a chance. If you cheat me on the liquor how can I trust the authenticity of the food? NO BUENO!

Went as part of a large party, and the feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive. Drinks were solid across the board, with special mention of the sangria and margheritas. I had the fish tacos, which were some of the best I've ever had. Not "high-brow", but certainly a cut above. Other standouts were the pork chops, various enchiladas, and the fresh guac. The service was very good for such a large party. Orders were taken promptly, and food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress worked hard to make sure she kept up on drink orders, etc. The only negative was parking, which was hopeless. Ended up in the TD Bank lot across the street. I can see where this place could get crazy on a really busy night (it was mostly full on a Wednesday), so maybe the best bet is to try to get there early in the week. Overall though, the best Mexican food in the area.

My favorite place to go!! I love talking about their food to everyone I know! I always recommend this place to everyone I have conversation with. A bit pathetic but their food is amazing, chips and salsa is amazing In you're there you must get their Tow Truck margarita & red sangria. It is truly AMAZE!!!!! The owner actually walks around the restaurant and asks everyone how their food is. He is very friendly and cares about his business. I am actually going tomorrow :) So excited for it!

I think the food is great and the drinks are even better. It's a southwest style Mexican, so it has the emphasis on the chiles rather than the fresh cilantro and lime taste, but overall I've never been dissappointed.

I have been here once before, but am hoping to get back ASAP. The atmosphere is very hard to describe. Its more or less a combination of a trendy NYC place and a mechanics garage. It is very clever, I must say. The one time I went there, I was meeting up with my family. We were just about the only people in the entire place. I thought this was tremendous because we had no issues with being served immediately. I can't really tell you too much about the food we ate unfortunately. But I do remember it being pretty LBD because I definitely want to go back immediately. LBD scale- 7ish. Next time I go back, the big dog will get a more LBD review.

Food was very good. A nice atmosphere good service. The only complaint I have was the hostess sucked she was stuck on herself. The fish tacos are amazing and I only got them because I read a review. My lady had the chicken chimichanga it was very good also. I didn't care for the mango margarita but it did have a nice kick to it. Would have given it four stars if not for the hostess and my lady said the womens room could be better.

Started off with a shot of hibiscus infused tequilla...which was great. Next was Chicked Quesadillas and Steak fajitas...So good. Make sure you order extra tortilla. Ended with an order of Churros with melted chocolate dipping sauce. Everything was amazing. Service was great too.

A great family owned business. Amazing tequilla shots (I recommend the apple pie and the peanut butter and jelly, if they have it) Great menu and specials. Lobster Fajitas, need I say anything more? The decor, music, Joe, and his family make this one of my favorite spots in Union County.

I visted this place for the 1st time last friday evening. Arrived around 6:45pm with my sister and a friend. Was told we had a 45 min wait, but we were seated within 20 min or so. Parking lot was busy. (Vallet parking only). The chips and salsa was very good. I ordered the T-Bone steak with the Chimi churma. (So, so good). The other ladies ordered the Fish Taco. (I tried a piece). I'm now looking forward to going back the next week. (I am gong to order the fish taco and sangria). So, so good.

I am updating my review of this restaurant, a year later, and upgrading it to 5 stars? Why?This place does not have as many vegetarian options as I would like. But I'm going there a lot now because of the live music on Friday and Saturday nights, the excellent service, and the atmosphere. It gets a little expensive on two fronts: one is that the food is a little pricier here, and two, the service is so good so I tip kind of high. I really like going here for live music now, and wish Yelp had a better way of searching for live music venues.

My favorite Mexican restaurant on the East Coast! The atmosphere is about as cool as it gets - come ready for a party. If you want a calm family meal, come on a Sunday. Either way, it's a great time! The steak fajitas come with plenty of big cuts of a nicely spiced steak (some other places cheat you but not here.) The chicken chimichanga is loaded with fresh chicken and is cooked to perfection! The Chef Paris guacamole comes with these light, airy, fluffy, "3d tortilla chips", as I like to call them, which perfectly compliment the smooth texture of the fresh guac. The garlic shrimp is deserving of an award as it is probably the best around. They've got a fantastic tequila selection and the tow trucks - a frozen margarita with an upside-down corona inside - seem to come out of the bar in an endless line of hustling servers. The staff is great and the owner is very kind and appreciative of his patrons. Definitely not a place to miss!

Drove by the place and the name and car (of course a red Cadillac) caught my eye. The appetizer of chorizo and cheese was FABULOUS. Staff was very pleasant and meals were huge. I am not giving this place 5 stars because they charge $3 per each soda.

Had an early dinner there recently with family from the city. The salsa that comes with the chips is really good, you can tell it's not from a jar, and the chips with the guacamole are like crack! My chicken burrito was good. I don't usually get chicken because it's too dry and this one wasn't. We also had the chicken fajitas, I thought they were tasty. The fish tacos were good too, according to the person who ate them. I had a bite, since I never before tasted fish tacos. The batter & tartar sauce was delish:) The place is really cute inside. Seems like a fun place for an after work drink too. And the flavored tequilas are yum! I had the grape & berry, def recommend it!

First the store from the outside doesn't look the best from the outside. You will see a Red Cadillac parked outside which is the owner's and chief's. You well see funny decorations including car parts. Once you enter you will be greeted by a waitress, ask you how many of you, and you will be seated accordingly. There is bar to right side ones yo enter, I believe you can just walk in. They do serve epic margarita. Once you are seated you will be served water in the gallon gas container and fresh delicious original tortilla chips and sauce. The menu looks small but has variety of choices with funny name. For example the appetizer section is titled "start your engine", and so other names for the main courses, sides and deserts. My friends and I usually order different plates and share, I can tell you all what I tried was excellent in term of portions and quality. The enlivenment is comfortable and lights are soft. It seems to work for parties, causal, intimate, dates and so on. I heard they also have live music in certain days but never been there in these occasions. If your food comes with rice and/or beans then these two are refilled upon request for free. Gratitude is included in the check 20%. Overall experience I give it 4 stars, I would give it five by I am a monster who wants to eat more for what I pay. enjoy the ride.

Was pleasantly surprised by my dining experience here. Would drive past this place on the way to work every morning and wonder what was inside the interesting exterior. The inside is beautifully decorated and feels rather lavish compared to what you would expect from an outside view. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were all lovely. I tried the chicken enchiladas and the frozen margarita/sangria swirl drink. The food was extremely tasty, and the portion size was large too-- could have brought home leftovers for the next day. The drink was strong but tasty, and I loved the concept and execution (beautiful red/light pink/white swirled drink). They only do Valet parking (free) so it feels odd initially (especially thinking about how you will pull your car out at the end of your dining experience) but things flowed fluidly and naturally. Would definitely recommend this place. Seems like it is a gem in Union.

Wonderfully surprised - I wasn't expecting this place to be as good as it was, but overall the ambiance, service, food and drinks were great! We went on a Saturday night for a late bite to eat, and ate in the bar area. We ordered jalapeño infused tequila margaritas. Absolutely delicious! These are not your run of the mill mix type drinks. I had the beef tacos for dinner - and it's rare to find beef tacos on a menu - the beef was perfectly seasoned and the hard shells stayed nice and dry. Not a soggy mess which is a huge plus. My wife's steak fajitas were also very tasty. We will definitely be back! Especially because of the outstanding live music. I don't know who this guitarist is or where he came from, but his skills are awesome! Loved his selection of Rock classics as well -- we can't wait to go back!

The Red Cadillac surely has style and a cool look to the place. Waitresses refill your water with red gas tanks and there's an actual red Cadillac sitting right outside of the restaurant. I go here with my friends who live in the area. We've grabbed dinner and drinks; the bar area is fun and the Dos Equis on draft are great. When seated by the bar area, the waitresses are super-friendly and attentive. These are its positives. For the most part, the food is good. There are some stand out items - like the fish tacos (my favorite thing here) - and the guacamole. I am not a fan of the rice and beans that comes along with a few dishes. Usually, that's one of my favorite things to have with my meal when I have Mexican food, but the flavor just doesn't appeal to my palette. I'm just more into authentic, Mexican food flavors. The food is good here, but the focus is more about the look and presentation. Now, this may have been an isolated incident, but I should mention it here. There was a weird exchange once between our group and a valet staffer, but it could have been a misunderstanding. Apparently, valet parking is a relatively new thing here. My first time there with my friends was also the day they learned about the parking situation. My friends were curious about why this happened. We were in line for the car to be parked. The valet guy approached us and my friend asked about the parking situation. The valet guy then says that they work for tips; suffice to say, it was an awkward exchange. After our meal, we went to valet to pick up the car. When the guy was not happy with the tip that my friend gave, he scoffed at us and made it even more awkward... While it was a conflict between my one friend and the valet staffer, the latter was rude to all of us and made no attempt to disguise his disdain. Nonetheless, this is a fantastic place for drinks and appetizers and a boisterous night out with friends (the music is pumping at the bar). You'll have fun!

The service was good, my Coupe DaVille chicken was good but seem like it could use dippin sauce! Overall my food was Delicious, the salad complimented the chicken extremely well. I also had had the Cadillac Sangria, all I can say us, "1 is enough!"

This spot has some great food, but awful parking. It used to be my 'stumbling distance' Mexican joint, but since moving to a different town - I'm not sure how often I'll be visiting it in the future. Protip: weekend evenings it's impossible to get a table, let alone a spot. Don't do valet, just park on one of the side streets off Morris Ave and hoof it. If it's after the TD Bank closes, you can also park there and the cops don't bother you. The servers are all dressed up like mechanics and they serve water out of gas cans, it's cool at kitschy and fun. When the owner is there, he always parks his red cadillac outside the restaurant. They have great tequila and good food. It's a date night spot in the evenings, but I usually went during the afternoon when it wasn't as busy and everything was more casual.

Decent Mexican. .I wish the menu was more extensive but overall it satisfies the craving for a good Mexican meal. Don't pass up the Blue Sangria...it is GOOD!

Consistenly good for quality Tex Mex, this taco and tequila joint aims to please. We dined with friends early on a Friday night and sat at a four top in the bar area. The live music is always enjoyable and the food and service quite good. We sipped on the kafe infused tequila and munched on the homemade tortilla chips and guacamole. The chips are superb...not too oily and just the right crunch consistency. The extra spicy (upon request) pork and chicken fajitas were yummy. And you will not go hungry as the portions are gigantic. Great value for a fun casual night out. And the valet guys are great...speedy and super polite. If I had one complaint it is that the menu is really more Tex Mex than authentic Mexican. It might be nice to have a few higher end entree options, some mole, some Mexican style side dishes etc. But what they do here is just tasty and consistent so it is definitely one of the best options around if you're craving some "tequila and tacos".

I dream about the beef tacos they are so amazing. The empanadas are a favorite as well. And the chips and salsa are some of the best I've had - and I have sampled them all over! Service is good and the yummy drinks certainly add to the fun. The live music is a great addition.

The food was pretty good and I love the frozen margarita. I ordered the beef enchilada it came with rice and black beans and it didn't take long to arrive. The service was good to the waiter checked up on us often to make sure we were ok. One of the the workers came and grabbed my plate before asking I guess he thought I was done I still had a little bit left that I was still interfered in eating . But that didn't bother me I too much and yea I can see myself going back.

I came to this restaurant because I heard they had great tacos and drinks. When I came for the first time, I was really disappointed. We had 4 people at my table and you get a small portion of chips and salsa and have to pay for a second serving if you would like more which is ridiculous since you hardly got any from the beginning. Next, our food came. I got the fish tacos which I believe we're $18. When the plate came, I looked at it with great disappointment. My plate contained 3 tacos that barely had any filling inside. I'm not one to complain about portions since I never finish my food but this was pathetic. The rest of the table got tacos as well. Our entrees came with rice and beans, mind you that it means you get a tiny bowl of rice and a tiny bowl of beans.... To share those two smaller bowls with everyone at your table. I would have ate all three tacos but I gave one taco to my husband because after his chimichanga, he was still hungry. I didn't get to try the rice and beans because if I took some, there wouldn't be enough for the rest of the table. Needless to say, I will never return. I was extremely disappointed. I give this restaurant 3 stars because the drinks were good.

Red Cadillac definitely hits the mark in the ambiance department. The bar and lounge area have a trendy New York vibe yet they stay true to their roots with a cool looking New Jersey license plate mural on the wall. While pouring your water from a gasoline can, the waitresses offer a wide variety of flavor infused tequila. Sad to say though I didn't partake and stuck with a couple of Coronas. While loving the decor, unfortunately I didn't love the food. I wanted to, I really did. After all, who wouldn't want to come back here with friends for a good time? What we ordered; Bucket of clams; just plain average, not having much flavor other than a musty water aftertaste. Pork empanadas; below average, having little flavor, pork filler was more like small chunks of pork rather than traditional shredded pork Fish tacos; nothing to write home about, forgettable, lacking flavor, fried beer batter tasted oily and greasy. I'll have to say though, the service was very good and attentive. I don't know, maybe we went on an off night? I see some people love the food here in other reviews. Maybe I had higher expectations? It's not like the place was super busy, it was actually virtually empty inside. It may be I expected it to be as good as Jose Tejas but it was not even close.

Absolutely horrible. We WERE regulars there until today. It's 95 degrees out and we have a baby and they refused service to us because I'm wearing a tank top! Cmon, you have plants growing out of tires in the parking lot it's not a fancy place at all. You serve water out of gas cans. Don't embarrass yourself trying to act fancy. You made a regular customer feel like a complete idiot for wearing a tank top to your restaurant in 95 degree weather. I will never be coming back and I'll be spreading the word to friends and family never to go there. Alex

Only stopped in for a few drinks with a friend. The beers they had were okay in selection, but their tequila list was pretty insane. They have all types of tequila and homemade creations as well. This place seemed to have a good crowd and they had live music which was nice. A one man acoustic show played for a few hours while i was there.

This is a pretty good place if you're looking for somewhere fun to go out to for food and drinks. The food is good (but relatively unremarkable), and Red Cadillac is a great place to grab drinks; there is definitely a big focus on the bar here. The decor is on point as well, and you can tell they work really hard to give it that car vibe (servers pour your water out of gas cans, rims hung up on the wall, etc). Biggest complaint is the parking and the wait. On a weekend, seating/service will be slow, and you have to put up with valet parking, which is a huge pain. I'd suggest just parking somewhere else and walking to Red Cadillac on foot. Overall, a good experience, and I would come back.

Great first date, hundredth date or even family event/birthday. They book in unofficial 2-hour blocks and are very efficient in the manner they serve drinks/appetizers/entrees not to mention the delicious margaritas and tacos ! Although they are known for their delicious tacos (which were phenomenal) try the ground beef chimichangas too !! Highly recommend !

Came here with friends for shots after work. The jalapeno shots were interesting. Food wise, it's mainly your standard bar fare, nothing crazy. We had chips with dip and they were passable. All in all a decent experiemce, tho I'm not dying to come back. The atmosphere is pretty nice with the car parts lining the walls

Love this place! Excellent food and drinks in this innovative and fun place for Mexican food. Highly recommended and always crowded. Definite repeat!!!

I don't think this place even deserves 1 star. The salsa is worse than the jar salsa. I've been to many Mexican restaurants in Arizona and New Mexico so I know what is good. Don't waste your money here. Very expensive for Mexican. Had the fish taco and I wanted some hot sauce to give it more heat. They only have their homemade disgusting salsa. All Mexican restaurants have their own salsa but there are always bottles of green or red hot sauce. They do not have any bottles of the hot sauce. The fish taco was lacking some good hot sauce and they put cheese on it. Fish tacos never have cheese on them. My husband had the beef tacos and they definitely needed some hot sauce. The chef and owner definitely do not know Mexican or tex mex food. Hard to find good Mexican in NJ. I wish we would have gone to Taco Bell. Much cheaper and so much better!

As you walk, or drive up to--like i did, to The Red Cadillac you will be greeted by a red cadillac right in the front of the restaurant. what a surprise! its permentaly there, and its guarding what looks like a very small house--possibly something you'd find out in Cali or New Mexico. Its dark and dingy looking, but you will be drawn in by this unique look. Once inside, your eyes will immediately move around in a frenzy, to try to catch a glimpse of every possible item that is inside. Although dark, it is intimate and romantic. Theres splashes of red, dark lights, candles, framed pictures all over---even waxed candles melting down and pouring all of the place. The bar itself is small, but hidden off to the side. Theres even retro seating and a couch area to lounge on when theres live entertainment. Instantly i was in love with the decor and felt excited just to be here. Once at the table, you will be forced to stuff your mouth with the free salsa and tortillas. which were fresh and hot- along with a tangy but slight spicy salsa. It was deff. a nice treat while waiting for our food. My usual drink to drink is water w/lemon, and unlike other estalbishments---the water comes from non other than a red gas tank holder. looks a little crazy, but it deff brought a little chuckle to me. The menu is small, but very right to the point Various mexican and south-western american inspired dishes. The entres are not cheaper than $13 and might be a bit deceiving when you read the description. *$18 for 3 fish tacos that comes with rice & beans. 3 tacos? are you kidding me, there better be keys to the cadillac outside if I'm paying that much for 3 tacos. i guess I'm scarred from small places up in north jersey, and a bit spoiled for my greasy $2 fish tacos I've been lucky to come across in my day. BUt it it so worth it. THESE WERE AMAZING. oh and hey, they filled me up! The fish was crunchy on the outside but as soon as you ripped off a pieece of that white fish--you were instantly surprised by the juiciness of the fish on the inside. it had a bunch of toppings and even came with a tarter sauce. which i think they add a little something too--it had a tangy and spicy chipotle feeling to it. all in all i was so happy.my friend had some type of steak taco dish--$16 for 3 and he was so happy. the rice & beans were another story. the rice was hard and beans were bland. service was alright & it was freezing in here! my nipples were going to fall off. drinks are around $10 which id like to try next time. the parking lot is small and a bit of a pain. overall, i truly fell in love with this place thanks to its amazing decor and overall feeling it gave me--oh and those fish tacos are a must get! i was craving them hours later!

Came here for a friend's birthday party with a large group. We ended up ordering all kinds of appetizers which came out throughout the evening. All were quite good and the service was great. The manager came over and bought us all several rounds which was a nice touch. Would like to come back for dinner as the menu looked very appealing.

Nothing special. Went for lunch, would not recommend it. I think the spot is better known for its drinks after night life as opposed to food.

I never felt the need to post a review about any resturant I stepped into but I was very disappointed when coming here. I have had a few meals here but this time it was the last straw. My boyfriend and I went out for dinner and expected way more then we received. The food was twice as bland as I remembered it to be and for the price, we def expected more. The rice looked as if it had been under a heat lamp too long and was very dry. There is really nothing positive to say about the entrees. The best part was the chips, salsa, and beer..... That is until I turned my beer and found a very long strand of black hair with lint on the opposite side of the bottle. Won't be giving it a 6th try.... Wish it had gone better. In my boyfriends words "this was a bust".

  • Arielle D.

Red Cadillac was slightly disappointing after I had researched a good place to try for my friends birthday. She's a vegetarian, and our options were very limited when we are there. We had basically 3 entree choices, and even the beans were cooked with pork so she couldn't eat them. The drinks on the other hand were delicious! Strong enough to taste a little liquor, but not overpowering. I think I'd go back just to sit at the bar, or when I'm not with my vegetarian friends.

Good margaritas, good food, good for lunch, fun atmosphere, and we'll be back. Tequila brain right now ... Just check it out. Looks like a scene at night so go during the day for a quieter atmosphere. Don't be scared ... Water is refilled using a gas can!

Delicious, authentic Mexican food with a great ambiance! The only down fall is that they don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait.

Very torn for this review. There remain parts of my visits that make me love Red Cadillac but in many ways it has lost its luster. The signature margarita is very mediocre. The fish tacos are fantastic The cheese and chorizo appetizer is always great. Many of the other entrees do not come close the the promise offered by the fish tacos. Every time I try something else I am disappointed.

This place was amazing. Went with my siblings and had tons of infused shots. The fish tacos are a must have. You will not go wrong with these. The best I've had in NJ and that's quite a strong statement. The staff were all kind and attentive to are needs. Very friendly establishment. Can't wait to go back for more.

Infused tequila is great. And I'm not even into tequila but there are no drink specials ever which is kind of a joke. Shrimp fajitas and fish tacos are great!

I'll write only of lunchtime because that's when we came here. Place was fairly empty on a Friday (opens at 11:30am) so we were seated right away. Took awhile to get chips and salsa because I had to ask after being told they would bringing us chips and salsa. Very good by the way. I got the taco special which was Korean BBQ Beef tacos. They were excellent. Soft meat, nice queso fresco on top with pico de gallo. My wife had fish tacos and she enjoyed them. 3 tacos nicely presented. We each got a side of fresh, sweet, corn on the cob and they were delicious. crunchy and with just enough sweetness. Wife ordered flan for dessert, I got fried ice cream. The flan was ok, the fired ice cream was perfect. They serve your water in gas cans and everyone is dressed like a mechanic. Cute little bar too. Loved the decor. Very retro. Cool couches and tables to sit at. Reminded me of a joint that would fit in a Kill Bill movie. Not a lot of parking either so if you are coming at night, you'll be parking on a side street and walking. I would come back here again for lunch. Doubtful I would want to wait an hour for dinner. A little pricey for Union too but worth it.

I couldn't find anything I hated about this place. The decor was awesome and they had just opened so the service was fast too. The waitress was nice and prompt. The FOOD. They give you chips & salsa (!!!!) to start, I ordered the chicken enchiladas and their special corn and it was just soooo good! I can't wait to go back.

I can not believe the treatment I received at this establishment... I've been to this location twice in the past and was excited to return. I expected parking to be a challenge, but I was not prepared for the lackluster treatment by staff at the door. They placed me on a list only to neglect my party and seat others before me. Each time I would look their way, they would turn the other way or walk away! I spoke with the manager (who's name I can not recall), and was informed "I don't know what to tell you..." I can only imagine that she reconsidered her comments to me since she walked over to clean a table about 15 minutes later. I do not blame the staff; this is clearly a top down problem. I will not be returning of my own free will to spend money on poor service. FYI - we were seated two hours later!

Went here on a Saturday around 5:30pm and the place already had a 25 min wait (more like 45). Restaurant ambiance is great but food was bleh. From the salsa and guacamole to our entrees, we were disappointed with every aspect of our meals. Salsa and guac were both bland. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and the tortillas tasted really stale. My husband got the chicken fajitas and that too fell flat on flavor and freshness. I'll return for drinks only but really disappointed this place wasn't better. Taco Bell and Chipotle would have been much more satisfying.

  • #NAME?

This place is just the worst, terrible atmosphere and terrible food. The fact that it calls it self a Mexican restaurant is an insult to Mexican culture. The salsa is tasteless, the chips are stale, the menu is lacking in all departments, the only reason people like this place is because of its drinks and because it's the most "hip" restaurant Union has seen in a while. If you want to go grab a drink and find a one night stand then be my guest but if you are looking for good quality food please look elsewhere.

Was looking for a Good Mexican restaurant and what it turned out to be was a Very poor excuse for Mexican food. The men servers looked like ex-cons. The salsa was so bland I couldn't eat it. My Tacos were dry, I asked for some hot sauce and they replied that they only have the salsa sauce. I will say the Corona was good and cold Take My Advise stay away!!!

Can you say date night?? Because I can..except after a few margaritas from red cad - and then I cannot. GREAT place, always get the specials, plan to be relaxed by the atmosphere and live music. This is a go to spot for when we have friends in town or need a sure thing on a random night.

I live within close proximity to this restaurant and have been so looking forward to trying the chicken and steak fajitas, as well as some appetizers. I just called to place an order for pick up and the lady who answered the phone said they do not do orders for pick up after 5 because they "get too busy." I have worked as a waitress, and as a prep cook, however I have never heard of such thing. What is the difference between ordering food there or to go? I'm sure people wouldn't mind waiting, just give us the option. I would imagine that the owner would like to be aware of this. I hope this issue can be resolved, in which case I will update my review based on the food rather than on the customer service.

Good drinks. Not good food. We didn't get dinner after trying the apps. The empanadas were terrible and the clams were cold. We won't be going back.

Went back and the food was amazing. Maybe if I wasn't such a sour sally last time I went there I would've waited and had a better time. Margaritas are on point. Got white girl wasted at the bar and watched Sportscenter. They had a guy playing guitar, he was pretty alright, place was packed. But I 100% regret talking shit about this place in my first review, I was definitely just being a dick. Got the shrimp fajitas and some tacos...well worth the money. Ken Adams gives it 2 THUMBS UP!

The atmosphere here is amazing. Friendly staff and great music. The drinks are trendy... And pricy. The food was good the last time I went... So I expect the same quality when I return! The place is always packed so in my head they gotta be doing something right!

  • Jim W.

cute place, but too much focus on hip atmosphere and not enough on food and service. food was just okay; mahi tacos were cooked to the point of being completely dried out. pork fajitas were large portions - i was expecting carnitas, but it was just well-done pork loin or something cut into strips. eh. different servers for chips, drinks and food, which means for parts of the meal service was great, and for parts it was pretty bad. i don't get that part. we sat in the back and very small rooms which made the noise so loud we couldn't comfortably talk at the table. drinks were fine, but you pay for them; $10/margarita. agree with others who say the parking is tough and recommend you park nearby and walk a block or two. all up, we had an ok time, but i really don't recommend. ohp.

I've been here a few times and I always leave with the same opinion of this place- good margaritas, fun decor, yummy chips and salsa, but their food is nothing to rave about at all (I've had a variety of menu items). I had an incident where I was there for happy hour with some coworkers and then my friend met me there later on. When I got my bar tab it seemed a lot higher than I expected, especially since it was "happy hour" prices (which by the way are still not that cheap). I asked the bartender in a very polite and respectful manner if she maybe put my friend's drinks on my tab (it was her first day so it could've been a simple mistake on her end). Instead of looking it over and checking it for me, she walked over to a male bartender and told him that I was trying to get my drinks for free and I didn't want to pay my tab. I was extremely offended as I never insinuated such a thing. This happened in December of 2013 and I haven't been back since then. It's a shame too because even though their food wasn't that great, I really enjoyed doing work happy hours there. I wish I remembered the girls name- if it wasn't for her I would've left 3 stars.

This place was tasty. I had the margarita with the Mexican beer in it. Super strong. I found this to be very tasty. The tacos were good. The chips and salsa were great. It's a bit pricey for Mexican food and the fact that you don't get endless refills on the chips and salsa. My only complaint was that my table kept getting a different waitress for everything. Was never sure who was the right one and then they kept getting confused to. The decor was awesome. Very trendy and lounge like. Will definitely go back.

I came here with my family and my husband was wearing a sleeveless shirt, considering it was 95 degrees out and we were there for lunch. The place was empty and the host told us my husband wouldn't be served wearing that shirt so he'd have to wear a t shirt they had. We were extremely offended and will not be returning. Also, the last time we were here I thought the drinks were extremely overpriced and the food was lacking in quality. We were only coming back because we were starving and this was the first place we passed. Go elsewhere for a good dining experience and don't waste your time here.

Stellar service, even better food. Went here with some friends after hearing about their legendary Tacos and Margaritas. We were not disappointed. Left feeling like I should have stopped eating halfway through my meal but it was so phenomenal that I just had to power through it. The servers pour your water using red, plastic gas cans that we were assured were never actually used to carry gasoline. It was a nice touch that added to the car theme of the restaurant. It was a little weird at first but I quickly got over it. I ordered the BBQ Pork Taco special which was prepared on soft flour tortillas. They came out on a plate with a silicone taco stand that held my three tacos upright, preventing the precious from finding their way out of my tacos and creating a huge mess. The pork was masterfully cooked and wasn't overly hot like you will find at some places. My Margarita/Rocks/Salt was as good as any I've had. Maybe not the best but it was certainly up there. Perhaps not enough tequila, but really that's always going to be my complaint unless I'm making it myself. Overall I really loved this place. It gets very crowded so make sure you call for reservations or that you don't mind waiting for a while. But even if you have to, the wait is well worth it.

Hidden gem that you have probably driven by everyday for years and thought it was a strip club. Or at least I (Francesca) did. The food and drinks were great, especially the quesadilla. He (Rob) loved the margaritas which were a great size and delicious. Good place for a date night with great atmosphere, really cool and original theme with your water being poured out of gas cans. Only thing stopping it from getting 5 stars is the food not being the BEST, but that shouldn't stop you from coming for the experience. The car itself is beyond dilapidated, but people still love to take photos with it.

If your a gearhead and like really good Mexican food this place is the best! The drinks are top notch, sangria is killer. The food is a different spin on Mexican and is super fresh. The wait staff is outstanding. The place gets packed after 6pm.

  • Christina D.

Mmmm, all the food I've had so far is delicious. The fish tacos are a standout. The live music makes for a fun and memorable night out. The flavored tequila shots are advertised as a specialty of the restaurant, but they are t that great. Better to go with a traditional margarita. The sangria is average at best. The cool decor and environment makes up for the so-so cocktails. All in all, Red Cadillac is a great choice for a fun night out, whether it be a birthday party or a sexy date.

  • Christina J.

I will never to go this place again. I've been here maybe 5-6 times so I feel that my review is more than fair. If you're looking for a cool atmosphere to have overpriced drinks, then this place is for you! While the decor and the whole theme is undeniably "cool"- everything else screams overpriced and bland. Food is straight up just bland. Nothing at all sticks out on their small and limited menu. Except maybe the salsa- in which the garlic is extremely overpowering. Everything is over priced. I've dealt with extremely rude waitresses there arguing over being charged for drinks that were NOT ordered by my party and never received the refund. That was the last straw for me to never step food in that place again. If you decide to go there, just double check your bill so you don't get ripped off like I did. And don't bother trying to post a negative review of them on Facebook, because they found my review and then reposted it on their Facebook page arguing against all my points. To me, that is just completely terrible and rude customer service and extremely in poor taste when it comes to usage of their social media.

Great margaritas though pricy for what you get alcohol wise. Salsa stood out to me as being homemade and very tasty! Parking is absolutely miserable and the area isn't very desirable. Inside the establishment is well decorated and the staff is pleasant and attentive.

Tonight was our first time in Red Cadillac with my girlfriend and a friend. Our first impression was good! Loved the live music, the lounge area was pretty neat and clean with service. We were seated and given the chips and salsa, but he salsa was not the greatest but neither the worst, and chips felt stale. When we ordered the food, it came out fairly quick and it was all very good and the portions were pretty good sized. When it came to the bill, you can not split the bill, it is only one per table and does not matter how many people are sitting at a table which made it very inconvenient and the prices were moderately high.

Second time here...got my free T-shirt for checking in!! Lol. As usual the strawberry margarita does NOT disappoint! It's not disgustingly super strong, instead it's subtle...so it'll creep up on you with it's awesomeness. The atmosphere is uniquely Mexican, all of the skulls and red dripping candle wax is one of a kind. There's a fun vibe here. I'd definitely return for outings. The uniqueness makes it special. The beef tacos were filling, I could only eat two of the three. The peach shot was tasty. I left with a great buzz! 4/5 stars for the fact that after our drinks came, no one came back for our food order. We had to tap a random waiter to take the order. But it was still prompt and tasty. Great place!

I love Red Cadillac. I've eaten here and drank here and happy houred here and celebrated here and even had a break up dinner here and still come back for more. I don't even like tequila that much, but I've found myself taking the road trip many times. I love trying all the infused tequila flavors and introducing other people to this place. The names of everything are clever between the "road trip" and the "tow truck" margarita. The theme is adorable and intelligent. Authentic Cadillac out front for kids to sit in is awesome. Bathroom are clean and have cute mechanic accents. Staff uniforms, car part sculptures, rims on the walls- all contribute to the theme which is fun and tastefully done. The service is always friendly- every time I go I feel like the wait staff and I are old friends or have had nice conversations with the bartender. The food is good. It's simple. All tex mex is pretty much the same but do you want it in taco form, burrito form or enchilada form. That's pretty much how the menu is organized and simpler is better. They also do like family style with rice and beans which is a nice touch. It's a must go!

FINALLY got to go to this place! this place is awesome just as i expected it to be. The ambiance is cool, i loved the dripping candles at the bar. its the little things. I ordered a tow truck which was just perfect, it is a margarita with a coronita inside. so good i ordered the same drink all night... once i was hungry we ordered beef nachos (the kitchen closes at 11pm) the nachos were delicious, they came with beef and cheese served over lettuce and sides of guac, sour cream and pico. i really enjoyed the vibe of this place. I also checked into yelp and received my free t-shirt :) i was a happy drunk when i got home and put my red cadillac t-shirt on to go to sleep haha thank you red cadillac !

Came here not knowing anything about the establishment. Was in the mood for Mexican and was told to take a trip out to Union NJ. -ATMOSPHERE- Upon arrival first thing we noticed were the parking attendants. Their parking spaces are extremely limited, and although I am not a fan of valet parking, I did not want to park the car on the street. As we entered the establishment the first thing I noticed was the red sign on the door explaining to customers that they are not allowed to wear hats. I actually can respect that "old school" vibe, so that was appreciated. The decor of the restaurant gave it a nice ambience. It was themed with just about anything Cadillac related, plastered on the walls as well as in front of the place. We arrived and were told it would be a 35 minute wait, but we were invited to sit in the lounge area until we were called to be seated. We were handed drink menus and only ended up waiting about 5-7 minutes, when we were offered to sit at one of the high tables by the bar. We accepted. Our only complaint is the table was way too small to fit food and drinks. The bucket of chips and salsa along with drinks filled the table. -FOOD- We were not terribly hungry, but just enough where we knew we had to eat at that time so we wouldn't starve later. We ended up keeping it simple, with 1 appetizer and 1 main course. We also ordered drinks. We ordered the Aubelas Empinadas. They came 3 on a dish, and although I am biased from having home made empinadas, these weren't too bad. Only complaint: more sour cream on the dish. We also ordered the Steak Fajitas, which was more than enough. It was seasoned properly, and tasted halfway decent. We ordered two of the fruit infused shots of tequila, which were pineapple and coconut. Price before tip: $65 ($35 of that being drinks) Overall the the place has a nice vibe, and the prices are moderate at best. The food is pretty good, but not amazing like other reviews on here. Good company added to the visit. I would come again in a large group.

This is one if my new favorite places for Mexican food. My friends got the fajitas which were to did for. I got the fish tacos which were also amazing but had a little too much batter around the fish for me but that's just my preference. They also have us a free t shirt for checking in! Cannot wait to come back. My one regret is I didn't try their margaritas! Will have to try next time

Love this place. Went there for my birthday and ordered the muscle car mussels back in January I was obsessed with them and the infused tequilas. Went back for the same mussels yesterday and found them quite different they had an earthy flavor not sure if they changed them, but they were not the same. Other than that the service is really good and rest of the food is amazing

Come for the Mexican food, stay for the tequila. Red Cadillac is a fun spot - we went there and ordered a range of appetizers and entrees. I had empanadas to start then fish tacos. Honestly, none were that memorable but it did the job. What made this place stand out were the drinks - they were free flowing. That evening we started w pitchers of sangria w our meal but eventually graduated to their infused tequila shots. There were so many flavors I was tempted to try them all. Later on it gets packed in there and there was a local artist performing that night. Overall a good time and I would definitely check it out again.

Just got back from Red Cadillac, never been a fan of the place myself, but had a visitor from out of town that was in the mood for Mexican. We were looking for a quick bite and a drink. Well that didn't go to well to say the least. Waited over half an hour for some tacos and beef fajita. While waiting for our food I picked up on the tactic they use in there, a couple was seated way after us and were served way before us. Hmmm??? Whats up with that? Why did they get there food before us? We've been here for half an hour+ and were still waiting? "They didn't order any liquor." Waiter/Waitress passed by our table every 5min. to ask us if were good on drinks never any mention of our food until I finally asked why the people next to us came in after us and received there food before us? Waitress said they were really busy back there. Meaning the kitchen. Really? Place was empty! We still waited another 10min. to bring out our meals. I'll just cut to the chase. Plain and simple if your establishment wants to make $$$ on liquor sales and the bar, offer a HappyHour. Don't try to keep your customers that ordered drinks preoccupied with there conversations and may not be paying attention to how much time has passed by. "Let them wait they'll order another". Like I said at the start of this review never been a fan and this visit only solidifies how I feel about the place. Food: Not authentic Mexican. Salsa that comes with chips is good, Fish tacos in my opinion might be the best offering on the menu. Everything else is questionable??? Drinks: Ok Service: On this night ( No BUENO) Music/Ambiance: 0 In a nut shell much rather head to Jose Tejas.

Our Vegetarian party of five came to the Red Cadillac to celebrate a birthday. We noticed that all of the main entrées were served with beans and rice and inquired if they were prepared vegetarian. We were reassured MULTIPLE times by our waitress that the sides of rice and beans which are half of the main entrées were vegetarian, however after all five of us (vegetarians)ordered our meals we discovered that they were indeed not. The beans were prepared with bacon and the rice was cooked in chicken broth. This left us each with only half of our meals to eat. Had we been properly informed, we would have avoided the main entrées, and chosen a mix of vegetarian appetizers and salads. We asked to speak to the manager to make him aware of the situation. The manager, George, was very immature and inexperienced, and certainly lacking in customer service. He was not only unapologetic, but he was extremely rude. He said only "well what you were able to eat was good right?". He did not offer even the slightest apology, discount or even a complimentary dessert for our disappointing experience of a birthday meal. The check for the five of us was over $100 and 50% of the food could not be eaten due to their misinformation. I would DEFINATELY never give them my business again for how we were treated.

What an exceptional meal tonight ! I don't usually write reviews but the Pork Sirloin Steak was amazing and is clearly a staple dish that everyone should enjoy! I sat at the bar and have had nothing but excellent service from the moment I walked in the door. Great Job everyone I will DEFINITELY be back soon !

3.5 stars We went here on a Friday night. Found a parking spot in the back on the street, so we didn't have to valet it. I was afraid there'd be a long wait but surprisingly the 3 of us sat right away. There was live music in the lounge and lots of large parties seated (work groups?), so it was very loud and we could barely hear the waitress. We got complimentary salsa & chips, but my wife & I didn't really like the salsa too much. For dinner I had a beef chimi, my wife had chicken fajitas & our daughter had chicken tacos. We got sides of black beans & rice which I think were included. For dessert we shared the fried ice cream. It was a large-sized portion and was delicious. All of us really liked our food, and we'll definitely return. The service was good & the wait staff was polite. To go with the Cadillac theme, they serve water in red, plastic gas containers complete with the nozzle on. Wonder if the gas containers are FDA approved. LOL I was also slightly concerned about the number of open, lit candles all over the restaurant. Seems like a fire hazard to me.

Came here for a friends birthday. The pitcher of margarita was great. As for food, I especially liked the shrimp fajitas; these were very good. The chicken quesadillas were good, but not a standout. Service was attentive and I would go back and explore more of the menu.

I can see why reviews of this place are conflicting. If you're going out for ambiance, Red Cadillac delivers on design and has a fun, loungy feel. However, it lacks the quality restauant experience you'd expect for its pricing. Food is average and overpriced. Margarita was too sweet and weak. It is more schtick than service...falling in the trendy zone where we likely won't return. This spot hasn't figured out its customer service formula yet. A hostess seated my group of 6. Another served water. A waiter took our drink orders. Another waiter told us the specials. And then a different staff member served our meals, having no idea who got what. When one of the servers accidentally knocked over a full beverage that spilled all over my friend and her seat, there were apologies and quick clean-up, but no offer to make it up to her. We were surprised they didn't show some love to make sure we left feeling happy.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good live music. Terrible food and drinks. Marguerita's were too sweet and not enough ice. I had the chicken enchilada..didn't like the green sauce it was in and very salty. My friend had the steak fajitas and it was ok. Very overpriced for what it was. I'm only writing this review because I now have a stomach ache from food. My first time dining and we went because of the high reviews. I just moved from New York and I think I'm used to a higher standard. Rosa Mexicana is the best mexican I've ever had.

Went there on Saturday for drinks and sat at the bar. Great atmosphere, friendly people and very good service. Had a one man band playing that was playing good music and wasn't obnoxiously loud. Free chips and sales at the bar and you can tell everything was homemade. Great selection of infused tequila from jalapeño to cucumber. Got a recommendation to try the fish taco and the margarita that comes with an upside down beer - can't remember the name of the drink though. This place has a very good vibe and will be back.

I should start this by noting that I'm not a huge fan of typical Mexican food, but I came by my brother's request. We were seated immediately at around 6 on a Wednesday but the place is small inside so I can assume that waits can get long. The inside is very nicely decorated and themed however it's rather dark and can get very noisy (difficult to hear the person talking next to you), but it IS a bar so it's somewhat understandable. The complimentary bucket of chips were served warm and were delicious (refills of the bucket are $2). We started with the nachos which had lots of flavor but BRIEF for 4 people, especially for $10. I had the chicken burrito which was definitely "Hub Cap sized." I thought the burrito was a little too big and greasy/soggy to eat with my hands which is kind of a bummer to me... Eating it enchilada style isn't the same! The other people in my party had the beef enchiladas, salad and beef tacos; the beef tacos being the favorite of the table. They serve one bowl each of rice and beans for the table to share with the entrees. I can't comment on the drinks but I saw some very tasty-looking ones go by... Overall, I felt at $76 (w no alcohol and no tip added) for 4 people it was a little pricey and not outstanding. I wouldn't return on my own, but it is my brother's favorite Mexican place :)

Great place to visit on a hungry afternoon lunch search and or date night with someone special. Authentic Mexican cuisine with décor that screams "cool". A little on the pricey side but well worth it. All there food is cooked to order and everything taste really fresh.

Excellent, large margaritas with fresh citrus. They offer great infused tequila but we just kept it simple tonight. Chicken quesadillas got a rave review. Fish tacos were breaded light and fluffy. Chorizo con queso was unique and delicious - more cheese than I could handle though! Super nice staff and they are attentive. The manager was walking around all night and we were attended to wonderfully. Great vibe, great music. Will add to our "musts" for Mexican.

I have to post a review here especially after reading some of the ones that were left here with less then 5 stars. I do not begrudge anyone their own opinions but I have to say that I don't understand, were they at the same place as I was?? Starting with the food, there is a good selection on the menu and there are always different specials to try. The burritos, enchiladas, basically anything else on the menu is awesome! The specials are interesting to say the least, and are usually some of the best food that I have ever eaten. The deserts that are available are awesome as well, I mean FRIED ICE CREAM!!!! Now the fun part... The beverages!!! Any of the sangrias are super tasty and affordable! While I am not a frozen drink person the frozen margaritas as well as the straight up one are amazing!! However, the infused tequilas are to die for! There are so many different Flavors to try that I still have yet to try them all! My favorites that I have tried are the pineapple, coconut, lemongrass, and peach! My family and I love this place so much that we had my graduation party from grad school here! Great food, great drinks, great people both working there and owners!

Went there for Cinco de Mayo and the place was packed. Was told there was a 1.5 hour wait so my family and I waited patiently for a table. Well the saga begin when the valet person told us it's 5 dollars to park the car. Come to find out velet parking was free and guy only said that to get a tip! Next thing after waiting 20 min to get a drink the bartender was less to be desired. After waiting a total of two hours to be seated. The food was order however, my cousin beef taco was not satisfying to her. She only ate 1/2 of one and the order came in three, she asked to have 1/2 her billed credited because she didn't eat a big portion of the food and didn't want it. The wait staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. The waitress boast about her father being the owner of the restaurant and basically didn't care about customer service or satisfaction. The waitress grab my cousin arm aggressively and began to get into an altercation with her. The waitress called the cops on us and tried to have a thrown out the restaurant! I offered to pay my portion of the bill however she charged me for the whole bill and then still had an attitude because she was not left a tip!! After being verbally and physically abusive to my cousin. I have never ever had an experience like this before or have been treated like an animal in a restaurant over beef tacos ! So I will never patronize this restaurant again the people here are assholes and need to take a class on customer service.

Awesome place! Went for the first time last night & thoroughly enjoyed it. Cool interior, great staff, good food & tasty drinks. A whole lotta space so it's real good for groups. So bring the noise when you're coming here. Ps get the tow truck. It's $12 of greatness.

Umm. I will say this- the food is really, really good. We've come here many times, weekends and weekdays alike, and devoured the guac, the shrimp, the tacos and margaritas. But lately, something's wrong. It's like the place is too big for its britches. Everyone from the Hostess to the bartenders are rude and nonchalant. The people hanging out at the bar seem to be running some kind of brothel service. I saw the owner do a brief moment getting a drink of water and he smiled, exhausted... Does he know that it's becoming a crazy overrated mob scene? I know that Saturday is a big night, but there's no excuse for 2 hour wait times, bartenders who are overworked and won't salt your margarita glass, and a wait staff who swears there's no hot sauce when there is?!?! What happened Red Cadillac?? You used to be one of the best?

Can feel a little small or tight at times when it's crowded especially by the bar but it's worth it. Homemade infused tequilas are a must, the décor is super cool and I love the food. My favorite is the lobster and steak fajias and the chip and homemade salsa, the guacamole is awesome too. Don't expect to save money going here, the bill does tend to get high especially with drinks. I do love this place though, there is live music on the weekends. PS there's a secret bathroom as you enter the front door all the way to the right, you may think its a closet. Enjoy

My mom and I came here on a whim because we always pass by and wonder how the food is. Ok here's the 411. they started us off with a decent cup of salsa and chips. The salsa wasn't that good actually. I've had way better and even prefer Chevy's. Second, the drinks... Both mom and I skipped on the alcohol. I'd usually order water with lemon but was SUPER thrown off by the gas can water "container" they were using. Primarily because it looked dingy and dirty and two, who stores water in a legit gas can that you purchase from the gas station?! I couldn't get over that fact so I went with a soda which I rarely ever drink. I had the "vegetarian" version of their tacos. The veggies were salty and bland. The tortilla was a bit soggy and tasted like something I'd buy from the grocery store. Unauthentic to say the least. There was no lime, no garnish that I'm used to at other authentic Mexican joints. Mom on the other hand had a salad. I don't remember the name but I believe they only have two salads on the menu and she went with the one without the meat. Needless to say mom wasn't impressed. Additionally, our waiter seemed a bit rushed as in "Hurry up and order!" kind of way. Only saw him twice; when we ordered and then when he brought my soda. After that he disappeared somewhere so I had to ask a neighboring table's waitress for some lime for my tacos and she pretty much took over waiting our table. I tipped about $5-$6 and I'm not sure who it went to. As we walked out to our car we both promised to each other never to visit this dreadful place. Still on a quest to find a half way decent Mexican restaurant in the Union/Essex County area.

I went with my friends for a girls night. I liked the atmosphere and our waitress was very nice. We got sangria which was pretty good. I wasn't impressed with the food options, the menu was limited and overpriced. The food was fine but the portions were fairly small. I would be curious to go back and try their tequilas, definitely better off going somewhere else for dinner first.

I've been to this place 2 times now both for birthday parties. The first time I thought the place was kind of cool looking in a NY eatery way..dug the way they served water out of the gas containers..but everything else was just meh..We ordered the Veggie Burritos and Fish Tacos that time and they were ok..nothing to jump around about , I think the Fish Tacos at Surf Taco are much better to be truthful. The waitress was pretty forgetful and obviously wasn't having a good night by her demenour..That and the 'live entertainment' was a guy and a acoustic guitar belting out cover songs LOUDLY on both occasions we went so it was hard to have a conversation. But my friend likes this place and we were going moreso for the company than the cusine..we gave this place a second trip..unfortunately it was more meh than the first time. We had the party menu offering (there were 16 ppl in our group). We recieved 3 of all items listed per table. The first course was guacamole, salsa and chips. The guac and salsa are very good. What wasn't as good was our waiter who grabbed the almost full bowl off the table as my bud was actually going to dip a chip in it! I was like 'excuse me he wasn't done with that yet'. He went to give it back but his fingers were resting in the bowl..thumbs in the guac. Needless to say my bud passed on the offer. The guy said 'Don't worry theres more food coming" or something like that..not really the point but ok. He wasn't rude but the whole night we got this rushed kind of feeling from this guy. Next up was the pot of clams which were good but had bits of shell like pasta foating around in the clam broth which I found odd. I made a joke to my fiance that these were probably from a prior diner who didn't finish these.. but in fairness on the menu they are described as having the pasta in the sauce.. Never had them served like this in all my years of eating clams but they weren't bad..I think there were mussels as well but I didn't have any. The next course were the "steak or beef' nachos. The reason I put " " around the word "steak or beef" because they had a small amount of these meat like pellet things on them, like something youd see inside a hot pocket or on a frozen pizza. Not very good and not what you think of in terms of a steak or even a beef topping. Sad when Taco Bell nachos look more appetizing especially since the food here isn't that cheap for what you get. I'm sorry but I tend to expect more in terms of food quality from a place that tags their menus with NY style menu prices. Finally the last course was the seafood paella, hard and soft tacos and the burritos ..the main event of the evening..and far from a total knock out. The tacos were ok..not awful but nothing out of the ordinary, you could make the same at home with a Ortega kit..pretty pedestrian. the burritos were meh as well..kind of bland and runny. The seafood paella however was really good I must say flavorful full of clams, chorizo and shrimp and most likely the best offering of the night. Now the bad news again..we asked the waiter to keep the three pots of paella and tacos on the table as there was alot left over and after the whole guac thing we figured we should say something or forever hold our peace. People were still ordering drinks in our party and we weren't finished eating totally. The same waiter as before actually took the one by us off the table when we weren't looking.the tacos as well after we said to him leave it. I gave up at that point. Btw The people in our group were ordering drinks at a pretty good clip..pitchers of marguaritas and tow trucks..so it wasnt like we were loitering...as would definately show by the cost of the bill..dessert didnt even come out yet either. To be totally fair I waited two times to come here to review this place as it is understandable that not everything is 100 percent perfect everytime..I'm far from that demanding That said would I come back here again?..maybe only for drinks or for a birthday party..not really on my own accord for dinner tho. I'll take Beana's or Tejas anyday you get more for the money. And maybe if not for the waiter trying to run off with our food id have given 3 stars. Unfortunately this red caddy had a flat the two times we went. I really wanted to love this place too. One more thing btw..while I was entering the establishment (i'll let you know that the weather was bad, freezing and it was snowing out that night) I was rudely interupted as I was talking to someone in our group by some guy with a broom in the alcove about my wearing of a NY yankee hat...something that the owner doesn't like it and I'd have to take it off..I walk in others are wearing hats/caps. Huh?

Good food and drinks. A little on the pricey side but good portions. Chips and salsa for the table... I had the beef enchiladas and my friend had the chicken quesadilla appetizer for dinner because of it's size. Tonight they also have live music by P.D. Brody and he's great! I will definitely be back to see him again. Good place for a girls night out.

So after months of waiting and reading mixed reviews, I finally went to this place with the wifey and time to submit my own personal review . To begin with I pulled into the parking lot and they have a valet parking which in the end you have to tip the guy, but oh well. Once inside it look pretty nice and got our table. Got the free tortilla chips w/ salsa, glass of water and the menu. I decide to get the tow truck and the chicken quesadilla for appetizer and chicken burrito for an entree . After that I then noticed the way they take care of there customers is that they work as a team instead of individual servers like in other restaurants. One person for seating, taking orders, water, dirty plates, asking if everything is ok and etc (about 6 servers). I thought it was a little awkward but I kinda got used to it. Got the food as it was pretty good but have tasted better, along with the tow truck. I had to ask for napkins three times until I finally got them. After looking after all the items in the menu I thought it was over priced. The service (besides the napkins) was pretty good and the food didn't take too long to be delivered. The presentation of the food was good but the prices shouldn't be up that high. I probably won't be coming in a long while due to the over pricing of the food and beverages.

From the outside- you would never know how cool the inside is. i love the decor and the vibe - down to the amy winehouse music. i love that they pour the water with gasoline containers the salsa and chips are to DIE for. seriously! otherwise the food is pretty good. NOT excellent but pretty good i dont really like coming on a weekend evening because it gets wayyyyy to crowded and noisy which takes away the ambience of this place but if you get here at a time when it isnt like that- then you will enjoy your self again - the salsa and chips are a MUST ( and free) with your food/drinks

This place. Started off with the guacamole and pita chips, which were decent. I had the fish tacos ($18) which was pricey for the amount of fish on each taco. My kids had the beef taco and chicken burrito. To tell you the truth, Chipotle or Jose Tejas in Woodbridge would have been a better choice. Very expensive! I also notice they had specials that night, but our waiter never told us. We observed the waitress telling the table to the left of us while we were eating. I felt I had been violated, when I looked at the cost of the bill. I have regrets about coming to this place, but when you know better, you do better! I will not be soliciting this place ever again! Jose Tejas, here I come!

Great atmosphere and good live music but food and most drinks are not worth it. The infused tequila was good and I definitely recommend it if you go but the other drinks are watered down. The food was fine but again, not worth the price. The guacamole was bland. Service was lovely. Bottom line: go for the tequila and free chips and to hang out with friends but don't waste your money on dinner.

*3.5 Stars* Great ambiance and look! Dark and red inside. What to expect: Food: We tried the chorizo app which was ok. The cheese was interesting. Main courses were either tacos or fajita's. I had the pork which was good. Wasn't overcooked but it could have used a little more seasoning. My fiance liked her veggie one. Very robust and lots of different veggies. The fish taco's, based on what I was told, were average. Drinks: Sangria was average. I had their margarita and it was so/so. And yes, I still had 2. Service: Good. No complaints. Timely in getting the food. Attentive when we needed refills on water. Prices: Average. Can get pricey when you start taking on pitchers of this and a glass of that. Overall: 3.5 stars. Worth a stop in. Oh and be prepared to have your car valeted. The lot gets full. We went on an off night and it still was valeted.

My fav place in Union - by far. Fish tacos are Awesome! I haven't had bad food there yet. It is a nice family spot or a great place to meet friends for drinks. Parking? Thur-Sat I'd say park on the street behind the restaurant and avoid the valet. Finding a spot isn't usually tough unless it's Cinco de Mayo :-) I recommend this spot to friends, family and anyone looking for a good Tex/Mex sit down. I believe this is one of two locations.

A friend and I Arrived on a weekday evening and the place was not pack so we were sat promptly. The decor is pretty cool as a concept but so think worried me. For example, the water is poured from gas container and just wonder how they clean they when they must. Also service was kept disappearing right when we need something. Felt as if the server was busy ( did not seem busy but one never knows) or off doing something else. The food I Order tacos but to be honest they were very average. Felt like they were the quality one can make at home for a fraction of the cost. It was kind of disappointing. I have heard so many good things but just do not get it if it's the decor or the bar because for me the food could have been better prepared.

Love this place. Have been going there since they opened. Their chicken fajitas are ridiculous. Also, the veggie burritos extra spicy is amazing. My friends and I have a theory with their margaritas. 1 margarita, you're feeling good. 2 margaritas, your feeling nice -- no hangover the next day. 3 margaritas now you have a nice buzz -- might be a little lightheaded the next day. 4 margaritas borderline buzz/drunk -- you're going to feel lightheaded and lethargic the whole next day. With that said, these margaritas are amazing. Go see Dane at the bar, and try some infused tequila. One of the better new ones, is the PB & J. Some of the better classics are Red Hot, and Hibiscus. The salsa is some of the best salsa I've ever had. Secret ingredient which does so much, vinegar. A little acid to a dish, can go SOOOO far. Now, one of the best parts about this place is the theme. The atmosphere is so cool. The detail that goes into this place, slightly reminds me of a restaurant in Disney. The only bad part about this place, is the small bar, and the traffic that goes through it to access the restrooms. Second floor addition??? Ehh ehh?? Now that would be cool

Red cadillac is a good place to hang out after work, fish tacos is my favorite. Im not crazy about tequila infusion, mix drinks is a little pricey.Music is a little loud but its okay, the only problem is the drunk regular guest that sitting in the bar, they are louder than the music. I would sugest if you wanna stop by here avoid the bar and go to dine in room instead. Its always good to stop by here ones in a while.

Great drinks! Good food! I came here with fellow yelper, Robert D., on a Thursday evening. It was an unusually hot day in March and it felt fitting to dine here. Their parking lot was full at 5:30pm but the owner was outside and told us to park across the street at TD Bank. It was fine without incident. I personally found live music by singer Dave Alen pretty pleasant and sometimes, amusing. That evening, he sang a mix of 90s "alternative" songs by REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc. plus some Eagles tunes... especially, "Tequila Sunrise". Service started off a little slow but soon improved. I ordered a "Mag Wheel Mango Rita". It came in a tall glass (see picture), was very mangoey, and LOADED. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We sampled three appetizers instead of entrees for dinner: "Chicken Quesadilla", "Abuelas Empanadas" (filled with pork), and "Muscle Car Mussels" (green New Zealand mussels in a tomato-based sauce). All were more Tex-Mex than Mexican but very tasty and satisfying. The quesadillas were better here than other places in the area. This food is exactly what you want while you're drinking.

Red Cadillac is proof positive that NJ people have trash tastes. Its also proof positive, that all you need to be is an average restaurant in NJ to make it. Lesson be learned to all of the places that make garbage food. Aim for average, make a margarita that is not lime green nor even that good (I would burn the bartenders at this place with my margarita which is a standard recipe 1 shot tequila, 3/4 shot lime juice, half shot each of simple syrup and cointreau splash of OJ shaken). But anyhow everything about the food here screams average. The wait staff are awesome though and in many instances gorgeous. I would easily come here if it were a frustrating day and I was near the exit for this place off of Rt. 22. However there would be no way that this place could be a destination restaurant or some place that I would go out of my way for. Everything is perfectly edible which isn't to say that the food is awesome nor cheap which it isn't. Try it and see for yourself.

Retro car- themed place with Mexican food. I enjoyed my veggie filled burrito and the chips and salsa we started with. Make a reservation or you may wait a while for a table. The service was ok, nothing great; our waitress took our orders, but never really asked how things were or if we needed anything else. We ordered a pitcher of red Sangria; for $28 there seemed to be very little alcohol and mostly fruit. Would try one of their home made tequilas next time. There were 4 of us dining and we were given a small plate of rice and beans to share with our entrees. Will have to come back and try the fish tacos and margaritas and give another review.

As good as it gets....best margaritas in the area....flavored tequilas...cant ask more... they took off the buffalo chicken nachos :(....we craved that after the last time we were there.... Gauc wasnt upto my expectation...but the steak fajitas was awsome...meat was very good....

My girl and I love the Red Cadillac. Taken as a whole I've never had a bad meal here, and I've eaten here literally dozens of times. The food is consistently very good, as is the service. The frozen margaritas are outstanding. The fish tacos are excellent, as are the chicken and beef tacos. The chicken burritos and chimichangas are also a staple for me when I go. The rice has always been excellent, but for whatever reason, the black beans used to be absolutely terrible. They definitely have changed the recipe and are now infused with some tomato and other seasoning which made them much better. Not the cheapest place to go out to eat, but always a winner for us.

  • Mallory M.

I won't rant about the parking seeing that it's pretty well covered here, but valet parking in that tiny lot is a joke. The food is just as laughable. Generic fish tacos and sub-par seafood in general await you here. I notice a few people complaining about the guy on guitar, but that was actually the only part I enjoyed. Mostly what bugs me about this place is how full of itself it is. You're not an upscale establishment in the city, no matter how much you want to be. Just another poor dining experience in Union, what else is new?

The ambiance is cool, Waitstaff is ok and drinks are ok. Food is not good & definitely not worth the extremely high price at all! This is not what true Mexican food should be. If you want good Mexican not even a mile down the road in Springfield is Picante Resturant. Wayyyy better food for reasonable prices.

Went to the Red Cadillac on a weeknight during last week's heat wave, w/ GF, for a light dinner of fish tacos, salad, guacamole, and some sangria. The restaurant was 80% full, but I can definitely see it being mobbed later at night and on weekends. The food was great and we really liked the scene. The owners came up to our table more than once to check on things and they were really nice, even again chatting with us again on the way out. Our waitress was a young hipster, but she was definitely cool and took our order perfectly, even w/ the changes (substitutions) we made to the salad. It was a bit pricy for what we got, but I guess you're also paying for a place that has an almost club-like feel in the front area, and nice seating area in the main restaurant. We will be back.

I've been to Red Cadillac three times with friends who rave about the food and atmosphere. Clearly, they have never driven the half hour to Jose Tejas in Iselin, which is superior in every single way. First of all, the restaurant is valet-only. You pull into a tiny lot off of Morris Avenue and do not have the option to self-park. This irritates me, since Red Cadillac is not an upscale establishment. I hate having to pay extra money to valet my car when I'm only going to eat cheap Mexican food. Some people get around paying the valet by parking across the street in a mini-mall parking lot, but then that means you have to cross the busy traffic on Morris Avenue, Frogger-style. I'd rather not risk it. Heading inside, you can almost always expect a wait. There is an area that looks like you can sit and wait, but do not sit down! Those little seats actually count as a table... someone is eating his dinner tonight on an upholstered stool. It's awful how they count those as tables when it gets busy. As for the food, don't risk it. I got food poisoning twice. Mind you, I'm a vegetarian! I hardly ever get food poisoning because I do not eat meat. Getting food poisoning from a plate of vegetables makes me wonder about how hygienic the kitchen is. When I go now, the only thing I dare snack on are the tortilla chips... and even then I get nervous.

Went here for the first time the other night after hearing great things and was not disappointed. We had the guacamole which was super creamy and delicious. I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos, which was their special that night. Very fresh and tasty, I would definitely order them again! Decor was cute and staff was friendly. Only complaint was for my drink. I had a margarita on the rocks with their specialty tequila. For the price I would have expected to taste the alcohol a little more. Other than that, good experience and I will definitely be back.

This place is so unprofessional . The service sucks and if you don't tip they are so rude . They yell and approach you in a very confrontational manner . They are assholes

Gotta love this place. Service is excellent and so is the food. The music can be hit or miss but the ambience is overall great. The can sometimes be longer than expected but it's worth it.

I have no idea what people are talking about when they are reviewing this place! First, food is terrible. Amateur Mexican. They can't even get the corn tortillas right, they taste like the ones from a box of Old El Paso! It's insulting to Mexican cuisine. I feel like I can say so because I lived in SoCal and have eaten my fair share of authentic Mexican food. It's really bad. I even returned to give them a second chance but it was still gross. If you like real Mexican try Taqueria in Jersey City or Tacombi in NYC. These places are legit. Second, it looks like Guy Fieri decorated the place. Purposely tacky. Third, margaritas taste chemically. Owners, take note that people like quality. Get your act together because I really want some good Mexican food near home, but if guess for now the best I have is stupid Chipotle.....

My girlfriend and I went a few weeks ago but I didn't have Yelp then. Loved the theme! The gas cans are an awesome touch! Service was extremely friendly and the food was awesome! The enchiladas were probably my favorite out of anywhere else I have been! Definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go again even though I live down in Jackson!

The Red Cadillac is ok, but pricey. The service with our dinner was slow and others were getting served way ahead of us. I had to ask the waitress three times before our food was brought out. The chips and salsa are edible, but nothing fantastic. The empanadas were pretty good but overpriced. The fish tacos were good, but overpriced for what you get. I've definitely had way better margaritas and long island iced teas better everywhere else. Theirs were sweet and didn't have that "fresh" taste. And, I did feel a bit rushed even though our food was slow in coming out. And, God forbid, anyone came over to the table all that time we were waiting to give us any water! Bottom line, it's ok but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

  • Alison N.

Overpriced! Blue sangria for $10 which was mostly ice and not great. My girlfriend split the nachos, we each had an entree and one drink and with tax and tip it was almost $40 each! More than I want to pay for so-so food.

Everything was delicious :-) the only thing I would say is that the service was a little slow... But I think that that was the atmosphere over there and it made for having a good relaxing meal with my sister and my cousin :-) I would absolutely recommend the steak fajitas yummmmm !!!!!!!

The low rating is based on a complaint about customer service and the beef enchilada dish. Otherwise, this restaurant is fine. You can park yourself on the street or a residential side street to avoid the valet. The walk won't be farther than 2 blocks. The Red Cadillac is known to be one the few flavor-infused tequila bars in the area, sort of like a microbrewery for tequila. Everything inside has a red tint on it including yourself. So for you people with alcohol allergies, you can safely show off your Asian glow or blotchy red patches without feeling self-conscious. The seating, which is rather tight, varies in each corner of the restaurant, from small clear glass round tables in the front, low tables and couches by the live music area, to large rectangular tables in the back. The overall ambiance is rather intimate and romantic. And although dark like a lounge, the red light does make it easy on your eyes. I've gone 3 times so far. I was with 5 coworkers during the second visit. The food is basic Tex-Mex. We were there more for the drinks/shots (beer is Mexican). The soft tacos and shrimp I've had in the past were fresh, the beef enchilada that day, however, was not. First off, the beef enchilada is expensive for such a small portion. The flavor wasn't horrible, but it was extremely dried out either from just sitting around too long or repeated reheating. I could see that the edges were dried out from where is was cut out from the backing pan. It was so bad I had to send it back. And here's where the stars started to drop. First the waiter got the manager or chef(?) who came back with the quarter eaten enchilada in hand. He asked me what was wrong with my dish. I said I couldn't enjoy my meal though I wanted to. He's not satisfied with my answer and gets gritty. He asks why I had eaten over a quarter before mentioning it. Now this young guy was getting confrontational and obviously didn't want to take a loss. I then admitted that I was forcing myself to try and enjoy the enchilada, but gave up after a few more bites so had to complain. I told him bluntly that the enchilada tasted like it had been microwaved several times over and was completely dried inside out, including the sauce around it. So with a reluctant gesture of acknowledgement, he had it swapped out for tacos. Wow. This guy in charge put me through a very unnecessary and unapologetic interrogation that caused a scene that almost killed our night out. We were buying shots non-stop so don't be a sore loser in regards to your crappy food. Other than that one occassion, I'm fine with the food and service, though as others have stated the waiters can be a bit inattentive. They need to work on customer appreciation and avoid causing scenes. It's unprofessional. So if you run into this situation like I did, don't be surprised to get even more upset because the manager/chefs(?) will get in your face about it. I will remember not to get the enchilada...If it wasn't for my fine palette...I mean, I've never to had to send a dish back in my life until now.

We love this place! Everything on the menu is delicious, but fish tacos and fajitas are my favorite. Make sure you get a towtruck, but beware: their drinks are actually strong, unlike some other bars, but delicious either way. It gets busy, so plan accordingly, ESPECIALLY on weekends- they take reservations. The service and employees are awesome, the atmosphere and music is cool and fun, and the place is one of the cleanest restaurants i have ever been in.

This is a fun place to go for a casual meal with friends or family. The hosts are gracious and seem genuinely concerned that you are having a good time. The night I was there, a guy on guitar was playing some very good cover tunes. Nice change from a juke box or Muzak. The food at Red Cadillac is good, but not quite what I expected. The entrees were good, but the guacamole, salsa, and sangria were just "okay". Nothing special. The servers were friendly, and water glasses were refilled promptly. One word of caution, the staff here is not well trained on matters of ingredients or food allergens. So if you have a gluten intolerance for example, I'd go elsewhere. Immediately after telling my waiter I was GF, I received an order of guac with wheat-based chips. Not good. Still, for the average person, this is a fun eatery, and my friends and I had a very nice time. Parking can be difficult here. The lot is tiny and valet parking is offered, but can be time-consuming. So, simply drive to the street right in back of the restaurant, and you can park for free along the curb, and easily walk through the well lit lot to the front door.

I must revisit and update my initial review of The Red Cadillac. They have come full circle and really stepped it up! The food and service is much better than from our first visit...staff is very friendly, organized and professional. The place is always packed which is always a fantastic sign, wouldn't ya say? I think their gold mine is in their infused tequilas. So great. The margaritas are a must have...but be careful when sippin' them though...they sneak up on ya! ;) Live music is always a plus, too. Congrats on your success Red Caddy! I'll be back!

I wanted to like this place, I really did. We walked in to a hip looking spot, and I thought "great, now I have a place near the in laws that I can go for Mexican food." Did I mention that I am Mexican and eat Mexican food frequently? Needless to say, it fell short in a few ways. The food runner was a JERK. We asked for no peppers in our fajitas. Nothing crazy. The food runner brings our food and there's clearly green peppers in it. We let him know and he responds "yea? You want me to take em back?" Really dude? You needed to ask? He rolls his eyes, and grabs both plates. Brings them back 5 min later and my husbands plate still had peppers under some of the chicken. Clearly, he just picked them out. And he was nasty about it. Needless to say, the waitresses came over, very apologetic, and took my husband's plate back and made him a new one. Food runner comes back with the new plate. My husband actually thanks him, and the guy is a jerk AGAIN and gives a nasty look and says nothing. Aside from this delightful exchange, the rest was just alright. The food is just ok. It is what it is. I think I've been spoiled by amazing Mexican places in NYC and JC. The waitresses offered us dessert and a drink to make up for the issue and gave us tshirts. They tried. We just wanted to leave. We won't be back.

After deciding to give this place one more shot, my husband and I decided never again! The food is awful and drinks were okay but overpriced, our bill came to 250$ after our waitress added in the 20 percent gratuity to our three person bill! Way overrated

  • Lisbel F.

The worse Mexican food I've ever had by far. Their customer service was terrible plus one of the waitress' was very pushy and rude. This was the worse dining experience I've ever had. After we got our bill were we told we had to leave because they had other people waiting for our table. Meanwhile we were still having drinks and desserts. We were told to take our drinks, desserts and Kids to the bar. The staff were very pushy. The manager was an ass, he was very disrespectful. He should take a class on how to deal with customers. Very poor customer service. It was overpriced Mexican food. Save yourself time and money don't go here. I would rather go to On the border or Jose Tejas. This place deserves a big ZERO!!

I am only reviewing the ambiance and the food. I didn't try any of their specialty drinks. I'd heard good things about this place, so I was really looking forward to it. I walked in and was instantly impressed with the ambiance. It's a cool vibe with funky decor. There is a young crowd in there too. I bought a beer and it was pretty cheap. There weren't many options for draft beers though. Fine. It's known for tequila which I didn't want to have at the time. They are allegedly known for their fish tacos with a hefty price of $18. I am used to paying $5 for authentic Mexican food, so I wasn't impressed with the overpriced menu. Instead I ordered chicken quesadillas, which I think is one of the easiest things to make. They were very salty. It also didn't taste fresh at all. I couldn't even eat the entire order. Beware! I would come back here, but it wouldn't be for the food. I would only come for drinks and happy hour.

This place is awesome. Everyone including the valet were extremely professional. I've been to places where the waiter takes your order, delivers the food, never to be seen again. But here multiple people were checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I've always just accepted Jose Cuervo for Tequila but here you have a bunch of Tequilas to choose from. For food, I got the beef tacos and the nachos and they were both really good. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their meal. The music was really cool too. It was one guy who played live covers but then he would DJ in between. P.S. My wife just yelled at me saying I give everything 5 stars but the reason I'm giving the Red Cadillac 5 stars is because everything just seemed to work here. The food, the service, the music, the lighting, the drinks and the decor....

I've been curious about the red Cadillac for quite some time now. I finally had a chance to visit and I must say at first glance it seem like a really cool place, a bit on the small side and the music was a little too loud to talk at a normal tone. But I found the drinks to be delicious, the food was pretty good and the waitress was very nice. When it comes to value I give it 3 and a half bow ties out of 7.

I've lived in the area 6 yrs and only just discovered this lil gem of a Mexican restaurant! I always had the impression it was a total old school dive, but it's actually a totally hip nouveau retro chic bar & restaurant! Run don't walk to The Red Cadillac! We had the special ahi tuna tacos, the beef tacos & the chicken enchiladas, everything was delicious! Also the hibiscus infused tequila and the margueritas we're great!!! We'll definitely be back!

I went to The Red Cadillac for the first time last night with my boyfriend, his parents and two other people and it was soo fun! The service was awesome the girls were all so friendly and professional. They were attentive to our table regarding refills on drinks and anything we asked basically. We went in a Saturday night so we got to see a live performance which was perfect the singer had a fantastic voice. The crowd was mixed with a few children but when it gets later the crowd matures. The food was tasty and hit the spot but I've had better more authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere is great! We had guacamole, clams, spicy shrimp for starters and grd beef burrito (nice tortilla), steak, pork chop, enchilada, and grd beef tacos. We also had hibiscus tequila and peanut butter and jelly tequila shots they went down nice and smooth. Overall go for the drinks and atmosphere the food is delicious but if you want authentic Mexican this is not the place.

The Red Cadillac is one of my favorite eating establishments! The food, the service, the atmosphere; everything about this place is phenomenal. It is great for families, date nights, and to hang out with a group of friends. They provide live music every now and then and the drinks are always made to satisfy and very creative. It's so good that I eat there at least once a week and I am NEVER disappointed. The best thing about it is that there is no other place like it in the area. They always have great specials that are fairly priced and delicious. My favorite thing on the menu has got to be the fish tacos. They are made with a crispy beer batter that really enhances the flavor and taste of the whole dish. All of their burritos are delicious as well. This is definitely my favorite spot in the area and I whole-heartedly recommend it for everyone to try!

Now this is an incredible concept for a local eatery, based around a red Cadillac which is cleverly parked neat the entrance. Immediately the first great impression was have a doorman greet us open the door and guide us to the hostess. For a Saturday night the place was packed full worth an hour & a half wait. We are about to give our another visit next weekend, but the eclectic decor, great sounding live band and friendly environment guided us to the bar for a margarita. Time seemed to fly by as we enjoyed selections from the appetizer menu; pork empanadas, tasty nachos, garlic shrimp scampi. All very tasty. The bar staff were the best; never seemed to rush, very friendly and provided great suggestions. We never made it to a table, but had just as great of a time. You must try this local handout!

  • John K.

First off...they have valet parking only. It's Union, NJ get over yourself. I could have parked my car in that spot 10 feet away myself. They also have a doorman. Fine dining you're not. Second, the margaritas taste watered down and they don't even fill the glass. What's supposed to be a "pint" is actually about 9-10 ounces. Third, they refused to put in our appetizer order before we ordered entrees too. The food was ok but not great. Jose Tejas is better. Had to tell two different people that we didn't want dessert or coffee and had to ask for the check two times. In the end, the time we waited for the check was longer than the time it took to eat our entrees. If the food was worth it we'd give it a second chance, but it's not. We'll go to Jose Tejas instead.

uggghh bascially if you've never had real mexican and like nuked food this place is for you. it was just so overpriced for the underwhelming food. Feel bad too because I really wanted to have a decent Mex-Tex place in Union County-may just be good for the drinks-SMH

  • D g.

The motif was cool. The food was average. Upon being seated you are given chips and salsa. The chips were cold and the salsa appeared fresh but generally tasteless. If you want a refill on the chips there's a $2 charge. (Unlike jose tejas which offers bottomless chips) but the chips at Red Cadillac were not tasty so we didnt even finish the ones we were given. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. They serve water from plastic gasoline containers (a cool idea, but my gf had "sea monkeys" floating in her glass) yuck... I had the beef enchiladas, they were good. My gf liked the quesadilla. The bill was fairly high and the portions significantly small when compared to jose tejas... so I think from now on ill travel the extra 10 minutes to go to tejas. one plus of red Cadillac was there was no wait... but things tell you things. parking is tough there too

Awesome!! Great food...DANE just met him, great bartender! I have learned to enjoy the food here and started to make this a regular establishment for me to visit. The food - Have not had a bad dish yet. The Bar - Great infused tequila's....try them all! The Staff - Cannot say anything bad about my experience. The door/bouncers are extremely nice and have to say it is a pleasure seeing them when I enter. Highly recommend Red Cadillac!

First time customer, went with a group of co-workers. Really nice ambiance, loved the theme. The food was good. However the service needed improvement. Shockingly enough the hostess, waitress and server were all very attentive; however the busboy ruined our experience. Prior to leaving he approached the table and asked if "everything was okay." Originally we thought it was very kind of him to come and check up on our status, however after we responded he claimed we did not leave a tip. After doing the calculations, for a group of five we left an 18% tip and found his comments and up forwardness to be very unprofessional. In addition to the busboy, the waitress appeared to rush our meal by frequently coming over and asking If she could pack up our left overs. In her defense, we did take longer then average as we were engaging in conversation, but after the third time around it appeared as if she and other staff members wanted us to leave, even though we were the only customers at the time (our visit took place at approximately 3pm). Still uncertain if I would return.

Saw this place while driving by and decided to give it a try. Only been here once and the food was really good. I will try it again. I would never want to go at a busy time though because service was slow. Pros: The chicken fajitas were really good Cons: UN-necessary valet parking ( i hate when very small places do this - i never have cash on me and it just aggrevates me) oh thank you for backing my car out of a spot -i mean come on... The place was empty and we still had to wait awhile for our food and check Expensive for Mexican Food

Great space and excellent food/drink. We've been looking for a go to Mexican restaurant for ages and just hadn't found the right place. This was the right balance of atmosphere, menu selections and awesome margaritas. Service was friendly and prompt. Quirky decor, food that's a step up from the usual Mexican fare, and delicious drinks. We'll definitely go back. We did get in right away (just two of us) but it looked like it could get busy.

  • Liz J.

I like the atmosphere of the place. The tequilla infused shots is the icing on the cake. The reason this place does not 4 or 5 stars is because of the parking and the drinks. I stick with the falovered shots because the drinks are super weak and I had the worst frozen margarita ever! The food is pretty decent, but the cocktails need work.

  • Jason M.

This place is great for family friendly Mexican food and drinks (if you go early) and we will definitely be back soon! The tacos were great, I had fish and wife had shrimp and the margaritas were dangerously good as well! Decor is fun (borders on tacky but we liked it) and its certainly not an "authentic" Mexican restaurant, but I don't really care as they do what they do very well!

I've been to the Red Cadillac several times, and I've never been disappointed. I finally got around to taking my boyfriend for a date night, and we had a great time. The name of the restaurant obviously gives away the theme and decor, and it is pretty cool. Vintage car parts are used as candle holders and lighting fixtures. The place glows red at night, which is also pretty snazzy. First of all, I love the margaritas here. I usually am not a huge tequila fan but this place changed that for me. Their house margarita, called the Royal Chrome Margarita, is one of my favorites ever. This simple drink is so smooth, and although you taste the tequila it isn't overpowering and it doesn't taste artificial like a lot of margaritas. I love it. I'm also super excited to try their house-made infused tequilas but have never gotten around to it. The food is also delicious. The cheese & chorizo dip is great, cheesy goodness with spicy chorizo. I also love, love the Muscle Car Mussels - mussels with a spicy wine tomato sauce. So good. During the summer, my favorite is the grilled Mexican corn. Only offered when corn is in season, it is so sweet and goes perfectly with the spicy sauce they drizzle over it. Overall, the food and drinks are great. Good for dates or bigger groups, I've always enjoyed myself and would highly recommend it.

Wow, I never thought I'd find a cool atmosphere place like this so close to home. The decor is sharp, well thought out around the name. The music mix was reminiscent of 60s featuring new female vocalists. And of course the food. We both ordered the chicken enchiladas which were quite tasty. My only complaint is that they were warm not hot as if they hadn't been cooked long enough. Our empanada appetizers were delicious though. And my margarita was cool, refreshing and buzz-worthy. The waitress was competent but not as friendly as I would have liked. Still, overall Red Cadillac is an oasis of cool nested in a suburb of been there done that diners..

Delicious Mexican food and the theme of this establishment fits the bill.. but beware! This restaurant tends to get packed in very quickly in the evenings, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I recommend their burritos - they are delicious. I actually made up my own burrito last time I was there and asked for a burrito with shrimp and steak - kind of like surf and turf. Yum! is all I have to say.

My girlfriend has been wanting to try this place for quite some time, especially since some of our friends and my sister have gone multiple times and really loved it. We finally made it last Wednesday around 6pm. The parking lot looked to be pretty full, but there wasn't a lot of hustle and bustle inside yet. After being seated, we were brought their chips and salsa to much on as we looked over the menu. Definite nods to the chips and salsa. Our server then explained the menu to us and suggested the Cadillac Chrome Margarita, which is made of Fresh House Citrus, 1800 Chrome Tequila & Gran Gala. It also came with a test tube vial of Gran Gala (an orange liqueur) that was put into your drink so as you drank your margarita, you could add more alcohol if you'd like. Anyways, we had it frozen and it was pretty good. The tequila flavor didn't completely overtake the flavors, which was nice. While this drink didn't taste too strong, I must not have eaten enough prior to dinner, as I was in a definite tequila haze after consuming only half of it. I also had a small stomach ache. For our food, we shared the Clam Bucket (Littleneck clams steamed in a cilantro broth) which was really, really good. The clams were tender, juicy, flavorful and perfectly steamed. The broth was equally as good and they gave you a nice chunk of bread to dip the broth with. For our entree, we shared the Lobster Fajitas. While these were good, they were rather standard and didn't do much to separate themselves from other fajitas that are served elsewhere. In addition, the five lobster tails that are served as part of this dish are very small. You're also only given three tortillas. For $27, I felt this dish was very overpriced, especially for the quantity of lobster. All in all, I'm not much of a tequila person but the margarita was a pleasant surprise. The steamed clams were excellent and the Lobster Fajitas were standard, but a bad value. Perhaps I'd be more inclined to give it four stars if I hadn't had the Lobster Fajitas?

Delicious date night! I must've driven by here at least 200 times and tonight was the night I decided to stop by. We started with the mussels appetizer. It was pretty good, definitely a bigger portion than I expected for seafood. We both had an entree. The chicken fajitas were good. The special, on the other hand, which was 3 jerked chicken tacos were delicious! Highly recommend that, if they have that special again. And of course, we ended with churros. Can't go wrong there. The only awkward thing was the placement of tables. The space is pretty tiny, so it feels like you're in a NYC restaurant with tables on top of each other. They practically sat us in the most inconvenient place...oh well. Will definitely be going back in the future, sooner than later. Especially because it's so close to home.

Really cool spot. The food is awesome. Drinks of choice the TowTruck and the Blue Sangria. Will definitely be here again....

A good experience upon our first visit. The decor is trashy-mechanic-cool, I guess. Although I normally drink beer, wine or sip on good scotches, Dane, the bartender, talked me into having a jalapeno-infused margarita which i thoroughly enjoyed - twice =:-D. We enjoyed our drinks along with a tin bucket chock full of tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa. The salsa wasn't spicy enough for my taste. My wife enjoyed her chardonnay, but after tasting my margarita, she wished she had ordered a margarita as well. We didn't have to wait long for our food. We ordered garlic & shrimp appetizer and the steak fajitas. The shrimp were nicely cooked; not overcooked which a lot of restaurants so often do. They were soft, but firm to the bite; not hard or rubbery. The fajitas might have been a touch on the salt side, but were cooked perfectly and tasted just fine. I've enjoyed some of the best Mexican food as I lived in San Antonio, TX for 8 years and traveled many times to Mexico while living there. So Red Cadillac was comparable to some of the above average Mexican places at which I've eaten. We plan on going back soon with some friends at which time I will update my rating and review based on that visit. NOTE: I believe the valet parking is unnecessary, but I don't know where else you would park if this place is packed which it wasn't when we had eaten there.

This place has been on my 'to try' list for way too long. I'm also a dozen or more reviews behind so this seems a good of a place to start as any. We went here for lunch over the weekend and I'll agree with others to stress the following two points: this place is small with limited parking and gets loud when people begin to filter in. If you're like me and wanted to try the food and a few drinks without being elbowed in the back by people trying to swim to the bar, you've been told....come early. That being said: friendly service, just a little scattered. We ordered drinks but never got menus; in the interim, two different people came up to us to ask us if we were ready to order. Maybe look over the website for ideas if you're going when you know it's crowded, definitely. I wanted to try the empanadas but went with the special - mini fish tacos with wasabi - instead. Mini tacos were really tasty - I was surprised, eating the first one, that they weren't spicy. Well, turns out perhaps they didn't share the wealth of that wasabi throughout the three; my companion's taco was super hot in comparison. Odd, but they were still really good so I didn't care. I ordered the beef tacos after wavering between them and the steak fajita. I'm not partial to ground beef tacos but after getting them, I have to say: WOW!! These were just a little spicy but soooo delicious! Shell stayed crunchy even with the generous amount of sauce and toppings enclosed within. Completely worth the visit just for these and will be back!

Great local spot for some delicious Mexican cuisine. I tried the fish tacos for the first time because they seemed to be a big hit amongst other yelpers- and I can see why! They were amazing!!!!!! I've tried the burrito, enchiladas, and steak tacos but hands down my fav dish is the fish tacos. This place gets really packed so expect to wait but I assure you it's worth it!

I have been a patron of Red Cadillac for over a year now and have been there countless times and have referred friends and family. Last night my fiancé and I were craving their food so I called to see if there was a wait around 6pm. I mentioned it would take us about 20 min to get there and I would be happy to make a reservation for a little later if they were busy. I was told "well....we are not busy now but we have reservations for 7:00/7:30 and we will need the table where you will be seated so....is that okay?" What do you say to that. I was fuming but we didn't want to let one interaction prevent us from going to a place we liked so we arrived and were seated about 6:30pm. The drink orders were taken and about 20 minutes later the food orders. I have no idea why this took so long especially since the hostess told me that we needed to "get up" from our table by 7:30pm.... When the food arrived we were given re-fried beans and we asked for the black beans that we always order. We were told that the chef was trying something new and different and only serving re-fried beans. This isn't new or different but lazy. Any halfway decent Mexican restuarant serves black beans. Now here is the kicker. I don't eat re-fried beans because most restaurants use a pork base and I don't eat pork. This isn't a fad thing where I am like I want to be "healthy" this is a religious thing for me and I take it seriously. I asked the cocktail waitress if the beans had pork and she said no at first. And then I said are you sure and told her it was about religion and she replied "oh let me go ask". She came back and said yea there is a little bit of pork. A little or a lot is still pork. Needles to say my meal was ruined and my fiancé did not enjoy the fact that I was sick to my stomach so we basically left without eating. No manager came over to apologize but we did get our ditzy yet nice waitress who apologized stating " like I hope this doesn't keep you from coming back....like I told the manager and like he will totally talk to the owner". The manager should have come to talk to me. We paid and left but what a disappointment. At least they got their table back by 7:30pm.

My friends and I came here for margaritas and appetizers and we had a lot of fun. We went on a Friday night so it was packed. The servers were struggling but they did a good job staying on top of our table considering how packed it was. I tried both the frozen mango margarita and the regular margarita and they were really good. We ordered the guacamole and the garlic shrimp to share - both were fresh and flavorful. My only complaint is the parking situation. We parked in the lot next to the restaurant and were almost inside the restaurant when someone told us that the lot was for valet parking only. We didn't want to valet our cars but were told that the only other place to park was at the TD bank across the street. Would be nice if they had their own lot. Overall I think it's a fun place for happy hour and groups!

My favorite Mexican place! Such great food and all of the waitresses/waiters were always there to help with a smile. I want to go back again! And it was a cool place inside. Very good and I recommend it for anyone looking for a fun restaurant with delicious food and good costumer service.

I do not get the hype with this place at all. I have dined here numerous times and have always had a "so-so" experience. Last night really put the icing on the cake though. First off, the parking situation, how they cram that many cars into a tiny lot makes me nervous. You must vallet or risk getting your car towed by parking in the 7/11. Onto the actual establishment, thank god I called for reservations (for a Thursday night) because they were only taking tables with reservations. On a Thursday ? Really? The place was packed which I guess is a good sign, but I think people mostly come here to drink. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the drinks. Strong and tasty....that will help you get through the lack of taste the food has to offer. The waiter came over and I order the chicken coupe De ville (something like that) and he had informed me the menu item has changed. He stated it now comes panko crusted instead of grilled with a salad on top. I said I love panko but hold the salad. They then proceed to bring me out 2 huge pieces of chicken that looked like oversized chicken nuggets....or chicken parm with out the cheese and sauce. I couldn't believe it. A dry piece of chicken for 17$. I asked the waiter if a dressing was supposed to come on it because of the salad, he proceeded to bring out 3 standard dressings (including hot sauce). I then asked for ketchup and ate my oversized chicken nuggets in peace. What happened to the garlic and lime caper sauce as advertised on the menu? Will not be returning unless my friends drag me here again. I don't understand the hype, this place is subpar in my opinion.

I have eaten at the red cadillac a number of times and I thought the food was good. After several good visits, I was really frustrated by the rude service on my last visit. I know they can get very busy, and the parking situation is a nightmare. On one occasion I had to park in the municipal lot near the police station because they had no parking. On my last visit I called ahead(from the car) to secure a table. I was told that they wouldn't take a reservation for less then 5 people, but there were plenty of tables, and to come right in. I parked and walked in, within 5 mins of placing the call, and as soon as I entered I was told there was a 45 min wait. The hostess was incredibly rude to me, and said "things change in a minute" and she couldn't possible have predicted the entire place filling up from when I called. I felt misled, as it was obvious that most of the people in the restaurant had been at their tables for some time. Things happen and a large number of people could arrive unexpectedly, but there is no reason to be rude to a customer. There is better Mexican food in the area (try Lola's in Chatham), and it doesn't come with rude service.

Worst.Service.EVER. Wow I don't think I've ever hated a place this much. Went here starving, with a party of 6, got seated and it took FORTY MINUTES just for someone to take our order with constant attempts to flag down a waitress. I was so pissed off by this I didn't even order, however everyone else did. We ended up playing the waiting game again for almost TWO HOURS. We were just about to leave when the food arrived, and thank God I didn't order because everyone said that it was mediocre. The waitress, owner, and manager? all had very snarky attitudes when I was trying to express my poor experience. This has to be the WORST experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Overall, terrible service and long waits for mediocre food. I'd rather get my Mexican food fix at Taco bell.

I been there for drinks one time before, today I wanted to try their food. I was excited but as soon as I walk in the door they told me that they changed the dress code and tank tops are not allowed on men. I was shocked being that the place is very casual. What disturbed me the most was that my sister was wearing a tank top. The reason why men's tank tops weren't allowed was because it made guests uncomfortable. They gave me a t-shirt that was four sizes larger than my size. I felt very unwelcomed and as if I wasn't an important customer. Mind you, it was a hot summer day. Never going there again only for this reason.

Went there for an early dinner around 5pm on a random Tuesday. Good food and atmosphere, nice that it's hidden and nearby. Give large portions and are reasonably priced. The menu is limited but worthwhile. I can't wait to go back and try the back lounge area. I wonder what it's like late at night?

Fun local spot with good small menu and great pints of sangria. I actually like the fact that the menu is small as it's sometimes frustrating to have to choose between pages and pages of food. The pork steak is perfectly cooked every time we've gotten it, and the steak nachos are delicious albeit small. Each of their sangria varieties were delicious and yes, they come in full-to-the-rim pint glasses so no need to buy pitchers. The decor is very cool/different for a Mexican joint. It's garage dive/swank. The staff wear mechanic shirts & serve the table water in small gas cans. The biggest cons are the valet parking...totally unnecessary. I still don't get the point of it when it's such a small place with a small lot. If you go for lunch as opposed to dinner, there is no valet service. Also, their prices are on the higher side for what you get. Paying for chip refills can be irksome & their 'Towtruck Margarita' (a margarita with a beer nip stuck inside the glass open/upside down) used to be served with a Coronita...but they've switched to cheaper Del Sol beer. It also does get packed so arrive early.

I think this place gets a bump from 1/2 to 1 star from the ambiance, decor and staff which are all good. However, the food is just okay. Somewhat Americanized Mexican and while things are solid for me they are just average. If I am craving Mexican this would not be near the top of my list. If you want drinks and to hang with friends in a cool place with decent food this is probably a 4 star spot, but if you want authentic Mexican food it is 3 stars.

Someone is missing serious basic hospitality skills. Red Cadillac is 15 years behind the hospitality part. Thee Bartender had excellent recommendations, however our party went for drinks after a long shift from our restaurant in the area, and we wanted to try their popular house made margaritas. Initially we began to enjoy our drinks while being offered their house special flavored tequilas. Little did we know that each "house" drink was $11 with more expensive offerings with zero to little special fruit additives.. Not quite worth hard earned money, specially after only getting a 5 minute warning of last call after we just ordered a fresh margarita, the GM was obviously in a hurry to get home so we were told to either chug or dump our fresh drinks. Also was strange that the check was hand written and did not itemize each item and was very unclear of what we were charged for, not that we had enough time to ask about the check. Skip this place and go to a place that will appreciate your business in such a economic downfall.

Highly recommended, yet very tough to get in on a Friday/Saturday night. Reservations are for parties of 5 or more, so a typical wait if you get there at 7pm on a Saturday can be up to 2 hours. However, we are big fans of Red Cadillac from our first experience, but just learned the hard way that we just can't show up, or make a last minute reservation :( Food is excellent, fresh, creative. I loved their salsa (others at our table commented that it's a little too thick / spicy, but I thought it was unique and unbelievable, ps, i love spicy) Atmosphere / decor is festive, dark, trendy lounge like. I'm not sure what it's like on a weekday night, but on the Saturday night that we were there, it was very loud from the live band that was playing... a little difficult to hear the others at our table. Service was average, no complaints and pricing is above your average mexican joint, but very fair for this place. One thing that I would like to see, is for them to make fresh Guacamole tableside. To me, that would rachet this place up 1 more star. Go here without hesitation, but have your reservation way in advance!

Thinks its in nyc. Food okay, had the fish tacos. Small portions for the price. Water served from a red gas can (not food grade; not good). Not a great experience for me, but I imagine trendoids will enjoy.

Love this place and go here all the time!!! Great food and decor. I love the Guacamole, Mussels, Quesadilla's, Fajitas and Salsa. They have delicious Lemon Ginger Tequila. Check out the floor in the women's room! Very cute spot, staff is incredibly friendly! Go Here!

I have to admit the place is pretty cool inside. They did a good job decorating and I think the red gas cans as water pitchers are a quirky touch. I came on a Friday night and they had live music. It was one guy and another on guitar but it was entirely too loud. I like music just as much as the next person, but my boyfriend and I couldn't hear anything the other was saying. It was still very much dinnertime and everyone around us were eating as well. The waitress couldn't hear our orders and to be honest the guy wasn't even that good. If the volume was down a few notches to the point that you could make even small conversation, it would have been much better. Food took a while granted it was busy but still. Got the guac and chips appetizer, pretty small to share.. I got the fish tacos (very good-the slaw on it was very tasty) and my boyfriend got a burrito I believe. Service wasn't the best. I live about 3 blocks away and haven't been back for dinner. Might come back to get drinks one night (def not a live music night again though). If another mexican place opened up in the area, I think they could give RC a run for it's money. Valet is annoying.. I ran in once to get takeout and he wanted me to valet? And they are closed two or three nights out of the week and close fairly early on sunday. I don't see the big deal about this place..

I've been to Red Cadillac a few times, and all 3 times, the food was always OK. I personally thought the burritos and fajitas tasted VERY processed and not authentic at all. I'm used to such places as El Bandido and Picante, so coming to a more commercialized Red Cadillac, I knew the food would be a bit lower. However, the environment is awesome, the food isn't bad, and the happy hour is pretty good as well. If you're in the mood for AUTHENTIC Mexican, I'd recommend you to go elsewhere though! Not bad for a quick stop when in need of a burrito though!

Love this place! First time here and definitely not the last! We ordered the 6 tequila shots for $25 and the coconut was my favorite ! They don't water down their tequila like most places. I also got steak fajitas that were soooo very very good! The service was great and I do not have a single complaint about this place! Awesomeness at its finest! Must try it out!

Always a good time, with good food!! The menu may be small but NEVER gets boring! The specials are always interesting, and the Mexican street corn is OMG delicious!!! As for the Margaritas it's always a Cadillac Chrome for me and never falls short of my expectations. Oh and the tequila infusions are the best!! The chips and salsa are always fresh and delicious!! Joe an his family are always warm and welcoming! What can I say?!? I am a loyal Cadillac passenger for life!!

Horrible! I have been to so many other Mexican restaurants that absolutely blow this out of the water. The service was terrible, and that's being easy on the clueless server and drink server. The bus boy was the only employee from the restaurant that actually worked. If my fiance had cash on him at the time, we would have left the tip with him and him only. The food is nothing to brag about, nor anything to remember. Anytime you try to make Mexican food trendy when outside of the NYC area you're left with a sad excuse for what should be classically delicious food. My last point to note is their chairs. I was seated in the bar area and the stools are shaky and tiny, just large enough to seat my behind, being a petite person. If you are shaped like a regular human being, these stools will clearly ruin their night. They did for my fiance, who spent the entire night grabbing onto the bar so that he wouldn't fall off, while I kept a constant watch out for our nonexistent servers. Case in point? Save your time, your money, and patience in not going here.

I"m a little behind in writing my review for the Red Cadillac but here it goes! I've been to the restaurant twice and both times the place was great! The food is fresh and tasty! I'm not big on Fried fish but the Fish taco's here are delicious!!! Crispy and tender to the bite! Had the Sangria and that it was good but a bit strong for me! I'm not one to complain about drinks but I wanted to be designated driver that night to make sure I made it home to my li'l guys!! =) The atmosphere on a Saturday was great! If you're not in the mood to drive into the city for the crowded night life - I would recommend stopping by the Red Cadillac. Live music, great drinks and good service! The decor of the restaurant is very fitting for the restaurant but would not know it from the outside. As you step in you are greeted with Red Lights, cadillac emblems, leather couches, and the full bar! My favorite decor of the restaurant is hanging on in the very back wall of the restaurant! I would tell you but fun would that be...go check it out yourself and have a bite while you're there!! =)

This is absolutely the best Mexican food I've had in the area. The fish tacos are nothing short of spectacular. Contrary to some other reviews I've never had bad service but I suppose that depends on what waiter you get. The atmosphere is modern and cool and I will continue to eat here until I find someplace better, which for the record probably isn't happening any time soon!

Wow! A great evening. Four of us can totally recommend the fish tacos and the pork chimichunga. That chimichunga may have been the best I've ever had. Skip the ceviche. I'm not certain salmon is a good choice for ceviche. The Margaritas were over the top. We had straight up. Outstanding. A great way the celebrate the Cuatro de Mayo!

I've been here twice....once for NYE and once just for dinner. The whole gas station/mechanic theme is done well. The waitresses dress up in racing themed outfits and pour water from gas containers. The food is REALLLY good. I had the veggie chimichanga and it was great.

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. First of all the parking is horrific. They had a very poorly managed valet on a busy Friday night with no other parking options. There were cars all over the lot, and once you pulled in, there was no way out. We had a short wait which was no problem at all. We were seated in about 10 minutes. The bartender took our drink order, and we received our drinks pretty quickly. It all went down hill from here. The waitress did not even approach our table for our food order for at least half an hour after we sat down. One person ordered an appetizer, which didn't arrive for half an hour. After the appetizer, we waited an additional hour and 15 minutes for the food to arrive. When we questioned what was taking so long, we were told that the NY Jets coach was in the house, and they were too busy with him. Then, a minute later, the hostess came over and said they waited to submit the dinner order until after the appetizer was off of the table. So which one was it? Once the appetizer was served, we didn't see or hear from our waitress. How would she have known if it were finished? We were offered no drink refills. Also, their water is served luke warm from a plastic red gas can. Finally, the food arrived. My $14 chicken burrito was awful. It was just spongy chicken drenched with bottled hot sauce. I sent it back, and asked for it to be taken off of the bill. The owner came over TWO TIMES to tell me there was nothing wrong with the burrito, blah blah blah. The owner literally harassed me at the table with my friends! For the record, I did not order something else, and was not seeking a free meal. I didn't eat at all. I just had my drink. Then, when we didn't tip for this disaster, the waitress chased us out the door yelling!! This place is the absolute worst. Next time I want a burrito, I'll head to Chipotle, or Moe's.

Another yelper said it best: average at best. Ordered empanadas - meh flat flavor nothing special. Then we both ordered beef tacos. These $13 tacos were so salty I don't think there was enough water in the place to wash it down. On the positive side: the rice that's comes with the tacos was delicious as the salsa is also very nice. They do offer an extensive tequila menu- so if your looking for a fun upbeat bar in the area this place is perfect. Would I eat here again, not unless my sodium levels are low. You want great tacos try molcajete grill in south boun brook. Amazing authentic tacos!

If you like tequila or if you don't like tequila this place is great! I bring up the tequila because they infuse their own flavors. They have many different flavors and for the non-tequila drinkers you can't even taste the liquor. The food is tasty and the staff is great. The one thing that took me by surprise was that the servers fill your water with a "gasoline" container, which definitely fits the atmosphere. The owner and the staff seem like they are a close family and that itself is a great thing to see while you are eating and drinking with your friends.

My boyfriend and I went tonight for the second time. After we sat, we were given chips and salsa. Yum. We ordered guac for an app and it was pretty good. The freshly fried tortilla chips that came with the guac were warm and soft. BF ordered the crab tacos which SOUNDED good, but once they came out it was just uber fried. You couldn't taste the crab because it was super breaded and super fried. I had fish tacos for the 2nd time and it was delish. It was lightly breaded and fried and you could actually taste and see the fish. We also had the sopapillas for dessert which was good. Fried tortilla chips served with ice cream drizzled with honey and powdered sugar. Reminded me of baklava. Yum. Three reasons that they don't get 5 stars * No free refills on drinks (I didn't notice anything on the menu saying no free refills, and usually if they don't advertise it on menus, they tell you. while not totally against the rules, it wasn't cool to receive a bill for coke and ice tea for $15 bucks). BF has 3 cokes and I had 2 ice teas. When BF asked the waitress why it was so high, she looked at our bill and said flatly "oh, we charge for refills - sorry bout that" or something to that effect. kinda sucks. ** service was so-so. We started with one server and once the place got busy she didn't even come around to ask if we were ok, and our server got switched with a totally different person and the only time our original server came by was to give the check. We were also waiting for the check for about 20 mins. *** parking is horrible here and there is mandatory valet once you pull in. Both times I went here I parked on the side street behind it. No problem. They're good. But I guess we'll come earlier and not order refills. Hahaha.

I NEVER write reviews, but this has to be said... The Montes Family obviously does not care about its customers or business. Reviewers here that have rated this a one star were not exaggerating when they said DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY TO COME HERE. Bottom line, go to Red Cadillac if you want to wait OVER an hour to place your order, wait ANOTHER hour or so to get your subpar food (i mean how long does it take to make a decent fajita or burrito?!), get excuses and no apologies for the poor service from staff, and be harassed by the waitress for the automatic 20% tip (that she did not deserve!!) I guess she felt that she could not take our order until an hour passed and deliver the food after another hour and half and still get the automatic 20% gratuity because we were a party or 6 or more. What lousy, sad excuse of service. This place only gets one star because the bus boys actually do their job and the person who greets you at the door (not the hostess) was friendly.

Mexican? Ha! You can't hide AMAZING PORTUGUESE Garlic Shrimp from me! Seriously, the staff is so welcoming, and to me, it just reeks of "Hey guys THIS is where to go for TGIF after work drinks! The chips and salsa are simplistic beauty. "Don't fill up" as they say because many of the offerings on the menu have proved to be delicious. I somehow can't get beyond the appetizers. The last one I recall was the Mussels in a red sauce that begs to be sopped up with the delicious garlic bread they serve. (order extra!) The bartender on three visits was so cordial and friendly, and the house Margarita "Chrome something" is to die for!

Came here with a large party. The hostess was more than accommodating, and both waitresses were lovely. Tasted two drinks: a so-strong-I-might-not-be-able-to-stand margarita and a pretty watery V+T. I hear the sangria is killer, though. The service was great, despite a small kitchen mess-up with our order, which was sorted promptly. The problem was the food. Got chicken fajitas. Note to the Red Cadillac: Friday's makes better fajitas than you! The chicken tasted like the cheapest chicken money could buy that had been defrosted. It was cut too thick for a fajita, and was chewy and flavorless. The chicken tacos were similar. Fish tacos, if that's your thing, were much better, and the vegetable fajitas looked lovely, but that chicken...well, lick the bottom of your shoe, and you'll get the idea. Whoever did the decor in this place is very talented. It has sort of an LA-club vibe, and every detail is accounted for. I think putting the water in gasoline containers counts as over-kill, though. First of all, it was lukewarm (who serves warm water when it's 90 degrees outside?), and second of all, I was pretty grossed out by the fact that my water came out of a gasoline container (even though I assume it was never used as such.) In a cool place like this, the food should be fresh and flavorful.

This place has a great atmosphere and the food was great! I had the fried calimari and fish tacos. Both tasted good. The waitresses seemed a bit slow at times, but they were easy on the eyes and super nice so that made up for it. The decor was great and it was a fun place. I'd definitely go back again!

Beeen going to the Cadillac since they opened and I love the food...I always get the enchiladas either beef or chicken.. Love em both.. The margaritas are great and the infused tequilas are awesome but my favorite is the chimi cheesecake for dessert.. Cheesecake wrapped with a tortilla and deepfried..MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I enjoyed this place on a recent visit. Got the fish tacos which I liked, especially with the chipotle tartar. Friend likes the beef tacos although I didn't taste them. Ingredients were fresh. Chips were warm and salty, but thought the salsa was just average. One gripe was my margarita- didn't have much alcohol in it for $10. I'll be going back.

First of all, Red Cadillac is not a place for authentic Mexican nor does it claim to be. I've been here a few times and always had an awesome time. They have awesome fish tacos and combined with sangrias and margaritas, you have yourself a good night. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite surprising, as the unsuspecting facade transform into a NY-esque atmosphere inside. I haven't tried any dish except for the fish tacos since I'm obsessed with Fish Tacos, but I can definitely say that Red Cadillac is the second best fish tacos in NJ. The restaurant also serves flavor infused tequilas which are quite awesome. If you around the area, it is definitely worth it to check this place out.

My friend and I love this place. It feels like a nyc trendy mexican restaurant right in Union nice and close to home. The food is not authentic but who gives a crap its good. Everything on the menu pairs up well with tequila and boy do they have a lot of it. The mango rita is real good, and I sampled some of the silver tequilas from the bar. (Ok I did shots who am I kidding trying to sound classy) Its Def very loud in there don't bring your kids on the weekend at night unless you like bringing your kids to the bar with you. The waitresses seem a lil new and young so I will cut them some slack about not being super knowledgeable about the menu, they also had cute outfits so how could you get mad at that. Very friendly people work here and that is important to me. salute!

I've been complaining about local Mexican food choices for years. Finally, I've found a place with great food, great service and a liquor license. I've been here twice and both times loved it. I personally like my food very spicy so it could have used a little more zing but thats me. I deducted one star because my wife was not impressed with her salad at all. For $11.00 she expected more than iceberg lettuce.

Had dinner there last night, service was very good. Mango Margarita was sweet but not too sweet and the steak fajitas were very good. Only con was the parking lot is a little dark. We enjoyed and will return.

My family & I were already big fans of Red Cadillac's delicious food & wonderful service. Then we had our son's Bar Mitzvah party there. I cannot say enough about how great everything was. Joe Montes was a pleasure to do business with from the initial planning stages until the very last party guest left. He was incredibly accommodating throughout the whole process and our friends left the party raving about all the delicious food. The kids had a blast as well dancing the afternoon away in the back room. I also have to mention how wonderful the staff was. Every single person working that day did so with a smile on their face and were all as sweet and professional as can be. This event was on 4/21/12 - the same day previous reviewer Kris K. visited. Although I can't imagine Joe or anyone at Red Cadillac not caring about customers or providing subpar service, perhaps the reviewer arrived while the party was still going on & thus had to wait. In closing, I highly recommend this place and will continue to be a big fan. Oh, the tee-shirts are pretty cool too!

Awesome food! Especially fish tacos. Owner is super nice and welcoming. But after the good 10 times I've been there they still need some work on the service. If it wasn't for the awesome food and ambiance I wouldn't go back.

Went last night at 6:30pm service was SLOW. we didn't leave until 8:30pm. Usually when we walk into a restaurant with 2, 4 year olds our service is pretty quick. When we ordered we were told they could NOT make 1 taco with lettuce and tomato and 1 plain on the kids plate, also that they could NOT do 1 chicken and 2 beef enchiladas on one order, that the kitchen staff would be upset with the waiter and that what made it even more difficult was that the owner was cooking. Jokingly (but not really) we said "can you at least ask?" our waiter said "no". WOW! I thought the customer could at least ask for what they want. We had an appetizer order of Chorizo and Cheese and it was very good. afore mentioned enchiladas and taco plate, a beef burrito which my husband found odd as it had no rice inside but did have lettuce, and fish tacos. they food was OK. they did serve small dip portions of rice and beans...We're not sure if it was meant for the whole table because that would have been silly, we each would have had 1TB of rice and beans each. I'd go for drinks and appetizers but would think twice about a meal, it was pricey for food that is on par with Chipotle or Qdoba.

I'll get to the point.... Service: We came on a Thursday night and were seated promptly. Multiple staff attended to us. They were attentive, bright, insightful. And they actually seemed they liked their jobs! Ambience: fun, out-of-the-ordinary, full of sights and sounds you won't get at your local 'Tacqueria'. Food: Please stop with the 'authentic-ness' diatribe already---who cares?!Their food was well-sourced (i.e. fresh), inventive, expertly put together and presented. Yes, the food was tasty! Would I go back?: Yes!!! I'm spreading the word. My reality is I live in NJ where adventurous and tasty restaurants are few and far in between. I'm so glad this place is near me.

Best chips & salsa and hands down best chicken fajitas that I've ever had. Make sure to order them spicy (don't worry, all this means is even more of their incredible rub/seasoning)!! Place is a bit pricey (chicken fajitas are $15), but the one order was definitely enough for 2 people. Highly recommend.

This place was fantastic! The decor was creative, the atmosphere exciting and the staff incredible!! The waitress took my two year-old on a walk so I could finish my amazing margarita!! Well worth stopping in, can't wait to return soon!!

Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon...2 of us were the 2nd couple in the joint. Within 2 hours, the place was jump'n, people ordering margarita after margarita, small plates and large plates. Margaritas are excellent, had the steak nachos, also excellent. Dane the bartender was THE man !! Stop in for some football, $1 tequila shots with every Giant touchdown. Maybe the Jets, too....wasn't there for the Jet game. Nice find !!

Love this place. Would give 5 stars, but the drink they gave my wife didn't taste good and charged us for it. Everything else in this restaurant is great! Love the food and the endless nachos and salsa they serve to you. Fish tacos are great and you have to check in once in while because they have music. Oh yeah...make sure you try the Margarita!

Please do not get your hopes up for this place, especially if you call ahead and ask whether you need a reservation. Picture this scenario. I have 2 small children, 3 and 5, who were very excited to go out to dinner. I called ahead to ask whether I needed a reservation. Surprisingly I was told to come down, no reservation needed. Great! Piled the kids and hubby into the car and off we went. Upon arrival we were immediately boxed in the minuscule parking lot. After finally extricating the kids from the car seats we approached the hostess and announced our arrival. We were immediately asked If we had a reservation. We explained we were the family that had just called and been told we didn't need a reservation. The manager Jamie Montes informed us that none of the employees would ever tell us such a thing. Long story I know, but imagine being told that since we failed to make a reservation the wait would be an hour and a half. REALLY!! Please do not give these people your business. Unless of course you want to watch your children's smiles disappear.

the bottom line here is that itsok if its nots not authentic mexican food but for the price it should at least be decent food and on both counts this restaurant fails.

Ok we came here bc my fiancé found the yelp check in special and we wanted to try a new place for Mexican and get a free t shirt while we're at it lol. First impression walking in was that this place is definitely different than most Mexican restaurants. The decor is lounge-esque and all about... cadillacs. Huge couches in the middle of the dining area. Our waitress was really sweet and friendly but honestly clueless about the menu, the food, the drinks, pretty much everything about the place in which she is employed. We joked that maybe she thought she was at Friday's bc clearly she didn't know anything about the red cadillac. Maybe she showed up at the wrong restaurant for her shift? The food was ok. Just ok, and more expensive than it should have been. $11 for 3 taco bell quality tacos? The mango margarita was good. After eating we paid the bill and moved to the bar area for the 3-6pm happy hr. The flavor infused tequilas were really good! I tried peach and MR (my fiancé) tried blueberry, yum! The bartender was a little clueless too but friendly. i accidentally knocked over a full drink bc i am clumsy but we were charged for that one and the replacement drink anyways. bummer. Overall 3 stars bc the food is average & the servers need more training but the place has potential. i can see us going back for happy hour and just sitting at the bar instead of at a table.

The food is so beyond yummy that I ate past full and made myself sick. The rice and beans are served family style which allowed me to dip my chips in the bowl of black beans. The fried chips that come with the guac really took it over the top. My margarita was a bit weak but all in all, it was worth it. A Negra Modela washed things down nicely. FTW!

This place is great!!! Great food, great drink, great service. Found the place about 2 weeks ago and have been there four times. Chips and salsa are homemade and are super tasty. Dinner is great and my wife suggests getting your fajitas spicy!

Just discovered this place and was very pleasantly surprised. Not your standard tacos, tamales etc. Menu is limited but that is a good thing. Food is good and plentiful. Had the fajitas and they were hot and delicious. Service was excellent and the decor is beautiful. Looking forward to going back.

The food was good so I'm giving this place 2 stars. We went Thursday evening & the hostess was the WORST we've ever experienced & my husband & I dine out a lot. We went with our toddler who is used to dining out with us so he is well behaved. We were told the wait was 20 minutes.. One hour and an increasingly inpatient & very hungry toddler later, she said our table was about to become unoccupied. There seemed to be a section where mostly families were sat & she pointed to a nice wooden corner table there that was clearing out. I was already annoyed with her because she sat a couple that came in after us at a table for 4 that we could have had, but was glad when this other table finally cleared. Then we still waited while that table sat empty & she stood at her station cleaning menus. I have no idea what she was waiting for! Finally another 10-minutes later she called us & took us to the bar section, sat us and our toddler at a glass table directly under the speaker in the dark bar area. That nice table by other families - still unoccupied. Then she walked away. when she returned I had to ask for a high chair that she never offered.. did she expect i was going to eat with my child on my lap??? The waiters were nice although the female waitstaff seemed to be overwhelmed because they walked in one direction then another looking confused the whole time we observed while we waited for our table. all the waiters that took care of us were really nice though. We said we'll never go back just because of that dumb hostess. She was really clueless to the needs of the patrons & seemed so indifferent it was really frustrating. I have never given a place a review at all never mind a bad one but after the experience with this hostess I just had to post my review. Its a shame too, the place was cool & the food was enjoyable but she just left us not wanting ever to return. The Red Cadillac would benefit from getting rid of her.

I went to this place last night because my fiancée had a craving for some tacos and we didn't feel like going too far for some Mexican food. We had passed by it many times but never had the opportunity to try it out. We are both very glad we did!!! First of all, the combination of a lounge and restaurant atmosphere is great. But since we were really there for some good Mexican food we were hoping it wouldn't disappoint. We started with a pitcher or red sangria and I had a pork tamale for an appetizer...both very good. For her meal, my fiancée ordered the beef tacos, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had a bite or two and agree that they were pretty good. I ordered the spicy pork fajitas and I can honestly say that it may have been the best fajita dish I have ever had. The meat was so tender that it fell apart as soon as the fork touched it and the seasoning was perfect. For dessert we had the churros with chocolate sauce...another good choice. Overall, I would highly recommend The Red Cadillac. The place has a good vibe, the food was incredible and the prices were not through the roof. It was also very cool that the owner, Joe, came by to socialize with us. He even offered us each a shot of infused tequila. I had mango and she had pear. I would say our first experience here was a great one so I am sure we will be back again very soon.

Great food. Even better drinks. The live music is very cool and sets the atmosphere but it is incredibly loud which makes it difficult to talk. But I always have a great time.

This review is solely based on not eating here. Why? Here's our experience, called on Saturday night to make reservation. A gentleman answered the phone and said they were busy but he could squeeze 3 of us in, come on in. We arrive 30 minutes later, approach desk and young lady tells us it's a 1 hour wait, hearing my story acts like I have just hit her across the head with a 2x4. Next, owners wife apparently takes charge , hears my story and promptly tells us it's an hour and a half wait and that there is no gentleman that answers the phone. I appreciate that this place is having success but you really need to all be on the same page with reservations. Please don't act like I am scamming you to just get a seat and that I lied to you. At a certain point in time things will slow down and the customers you are insulting won't be coming back.

Place is Ok and that's being kind. First they charge for extra chips as you wait for your food. The drinks are premade, my wife who is pregnant was craving strawberry daiquiri but they couldn't make Virgin. Plus the drinks were overpriced. Food was OK , they gave us a small bowl of rice for 4 of us to share and when we asked for more that came in an even smaller bowl, did the price of rice go up? Definitely wont be back.

Oh man, tacos are great, service is awesome, and so are their home-made tequilas. Yup! homemade!! Don't believe me, just ask the NY Jets coach who frequents here.

When I go to a restaurant, I look at a few things to decide whether or not I should revisit it in the future. Service, atmosphere, price of food versus quality and of course taste. Generally, restaurants will only pass on two of those categories, with a few maybe sneaking in for three. Red Cadillac destroyed my grading criteria. You are welcomed promptly and even offered drinks and chips in the event that you need to wait for a table; the decor is very New Jersey(except that it's clean!:p), it's cool enough to draw the collegiate crowd, yet warm enough to be a great family spot, the auto shop motif that permeates the Red Cadillac also reflects perfectly the personality of the affable workman owner (not to mention chef!) Joe Montes who, despite being exceptionally busy, still takes time out of the kitchen to roam the dining area and check on his guests. As far as the food goes, well, I've had pretty much everything on the menu and have enjoyed it! From the spectacular mussel appetizer to the delicious pork burrito, you really can't go wrong. However, while the regular menu is great, the specials are greater! Two weeks ago they had a paella that kicked the ass of every other paella I've ever come across, the week before that Joe offered up chicken-fried pork cutlet with jalepeno mashed potatoes, sausage gravy and street corn. I can't explain how awesome it was. As far as price is concerned, it's cheaper than Friday's and, surprisingly, actually gives you really substantial portions, not to mention the free chips and salsa & the endless family-style rice and black beans. If there were a sixth star on yelp I'd give it to Red Cadillac without hesitation, my only complaint is that Joe needs to expand and build both a burger joint and an Italian restaurant so we can give him more cash!

Had a late lunch there on Saturday 6/8. Originally planned on going there for dinner mid-weed, but the reviews about the crowds and parking situation scared me off. Was pretty empty at 3pm. The decor was exactly what I was expecting (though the water being served from gas cans was a nice surprise). The servers were both helpful and hot. I ordered the fish tacos (based off the reviews on Yelp) and loved them. Not a huge fried fish fan but combined with the slaw and sauce they were very good. Wife had the chimichanga which she loved. More than enough food for the both of us, we were stuffed! Each meal starts with chips and salsa and they were awesome (tons of cilantro!), though next time I'll spring for the home made guacamole. Wife had one of their frozen margaritas and assures me she was satisfied. We will be going back again!

Did not enjoy much about our meal. The Chrome margaritas were way too sweet. We have had much better fish tacos at 1/3 the price, and the shrimp fajitas could have easily doubled as the spicy shrimp from Panda Express. That said, service was great and atmosphere was solid. But the kitchen could stand some improvement.

Interesting decor, very loud, had some good live music their tonight, crappy service, crappy bland food. They do have a nice gentlemen at the door to open it for you as you enter and leave. Don;t forget to make sure you drink the water, they serve it from empty plastic gasoline cans, guaranteed to be against the law and a health code violation, but it looks cool as the PCB leach in to the water. Do not waste your money. Do your self a favor, go to the mall and order to go from Qdoda, yes the chain Mexican restaurant, then get yourself some beer from the liquor store and away you go. Way better than the over priced crap they sell there..

  • Chris R.

Really not worth it - much better elsewhere! Food: Average at best. The burrito meat was disappointing - I've had much better at Qdoba's for HALF the cost. The basket of chips was tasty - but the salsa was lacking in any real flavor. Didn't want to venture into dessert for fear of additional regret! - 1.5/5 Service: Service was friendly and attentive, and aside from repeatedly being served warm water through a gas can, we were satisfied with the waitstaff - 4/5 Location: They fail with this location. I'm sure that this location has played a big part in the failure of all the restaurants that have occupied this space. One way in/out parking and not nearly enough parking on site. They'd be wise to negotiate with nearby businesses (bank/7/11/CVS etc.) to share a lot (legally) and have someone valet there instead of the nightmare that is their parking lot. - 0/5

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
