Oh man. Such good food. Whatever else you order, make sure you get fish tacos. There's two to an order. They are a little bit of magic. Whether I stop by for lunch or right before they close for the day, the fish is hot, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, juicy, uh.... I'll stop right here. Squeeze on a bit of lime, and you're good to go. They do take their time making food. I call about 5-10 minutes ahead with my order to avoid a really long wait. Parking can be tough right outside the restaurant, so don't forget the Whole Foods/Duane Reade lot across River road.

Hole in the wall take-out with generous portions and some tasty, reasonably authentic flavors. The cook seems to maintain general good quality with a tiny kitchen and steady incoming phone orders. Three of us pulled two tables together and sat down for a quick dinner before shopping across the street in the Whole Foods Plaza. Next time, think I'll just order what I want and doctor it up to my liking at home. Guacamole was fresh and thick, needed more tomato, salsa and lime, which we had to ask for with the chips, which were unremarkable but crisp. The chicken burrito bowl was actually a platter piled with food. Accompanying rice and black beans were tasty with good texture. Tacos advertise as two in a serving, but the meat filling was generous and an extra tortilla is provided anyway. The soft corn tortillas were fresh and thin. I had the Al Pastor tacos, which would have benefitted from some pineapple flavor, but where else nearby can you even order Al Pastor... Salsa was served as an afterthought, the versions were fresh and delicious, but there were only three chips left when we got them. Why wasn't it on the table right away? Mexican coke (or at least that's the claim) was served warm in the bottle. Expect an update when I order delivery....

Great tasting food with huge portions. Delivery was also quick. I was stuck home during a snow storm and didn't feel like driving out to grab food. Did a little search for a Mexican spot that delivers and found this little gem! The person on the phone and the delivery guy are always friendly.

I've ordered from this place three times. All three times they had good customer service, delivery man was punctual/polite, and the food was delicious. The portions are large and they make sure to separate the greens from the actual taco/burrito so the ingredients don't get soggy. Out of all the things I've ordered so far, I would recommend the Steak & Onion tacos. Good experience.

3.5 stars! Let's spell it out.... Al Pastor Tacos ( spicy pork, cubed ) - The meat was quite tender and very well seasoned. I would guess the seasoned sauce is a blend of different chiles with onion and garlic. Not just an adobo seasoning you would purchase from a Spanish supermarket. The pork had a bit of an orange hue and the spice level was highly pleasing! These tacos were served on soft tortillas and included chopped cilantro as a garnish. You can add shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions and squeeze lime juice. Once you do, there is Mexican fiesta happening in your mouth! ÓRALE! Mini Gripe - Missed chopped jalapeño and crumbled queso fresco. Enchiladas de Mole (shredded chicken thighs) - Once upon a time ago, I was very fortunate enough to learn there are several types of moles. I hate myself for not asking the young lady but I believe what I ate was a Mole Poblano style- It was very dark in color, with hint of chocolate flavor but not as spicy as I remembered it. Anyway, it was enjoyable. No yellow cheese ( thank god ) instead it appeared to be a shredded Mexican Mozzarella with zig zag line of sour cream top with white onion rings. This entree was paired with refried beans and rice. HIJOLE, it was very good! Homemade Guacamole and Homemade Tortilla Chips - Simple and fresh. I did see finely chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro and jalapeños ( I requested jalapeños, otherwise, it would have been left out ) Mini gripe- not as spicy as requested. Ni modo! Chorizo Tacos ( crumbled chorizo ) - Least favorite. Less flavorsome when comparing it to Al Pastor Tacos. It's really seasoned with Paprika, Cayenne and Salt / Pepper. These tacos are were also served on soft tortillas and shared the same garnishes and add-ons as Al Pastor Tacos. Mini Gripe - Missed chopped jalapeño and crumbled queso fresco. Because the smaller things in life make me smile, I must say this place offers Mexican Coke Bottles ( not american coke )! This is Smooth and Rich! Me encanta every time! I won't forget to mention. Upon ordering over the phone, service was prompt and friendly. Lastly, this place is a very casual eatery serving Mexican classics such as burritos, tacos, tostadas & handmade tortillas. Great for a quick lunch or dinner.

Girl at the front smiled today and was helpful- big change from before, so kudos to you. The place is hot inside, so I would recommend taking the food togo on hot summer days. Not only that but, there's only street parking available, and that doesn't come easy on this small uphill area. Otherwise, there's 3 tables- 2 small 2 seaters, and 1 larger 4 seater. Not bad. The tacos are BOMBBBBB!!! Had the grilled chicken for the first time today- awesomeeee. Tender meat with good salad side to add onto your taco, and the fish taco is just as good as ever- juicy with awesome chipotle sauce. Yummmmm. Word of advice- if you can't handle spice, don't go for the hottest sauce. You can ask for extra and we ended up buying 4 extra sauces for no reason- turned out the one container each per dish was enough.

Eh. Decent (beef) tacos and nachos (w/o beef). IMO, the taste isn't very authentic, meaning, I'm not immediately transported to Tijuana. They are very filling, however. I'll definitely go back to try the burritos and fish tacos, as other Yelpers recommend.

It was our first time ordering from The Great Burrito and we were starving. My wife and I were prepared to wait a bit since some reviews noted the slow service. The restaurant accepts online orders. You place your order through a third-party site called BeyondMenu. Within seconds of placing the order, we received a confirmation e-mail. Everything seemed to be on track. Forty five minutes came and went, but no food arrived. We remained calm. At the one hour mark, I decided to call the restaurant. At this point, I wanted to confirm that they even got the order in the first place. A woman picked up. I explained that we had been waiting an hour for our food and that it was our first time ordering. She seemed put off and finally inquired if I ordered using BeyondMenu. Then she matter-of-factly told me that the food was on its way. No timetable, further explanation or apology. Finally, an hour and twenty minutes after the initial order was placed the food arrived. I felt a sense of relief. My wife answered the door. She handed the driver a two dollar tip. He asked where the rest of the money was. My wife explained that we had ordered online. The driver claimed he was unaware of this. Our food was finally released to us after my wife showed the driver the confirmation e-mail on her phone. The food itself was not bad, but pricey. I had a Cochinita Pibil Burrito (braised pork). My wife had the Grilled Chicken Burrito. The burritos were humongous. You get a choice of tortilla and salsa. My wife enjoyed the salsa. They also included sour cream. In addition, we ordered a side of guacamole. The portion of guacamole was minuscule for the price. The incredibly long wait time and bad customer service marred our lunch delivery. We don't plan to order from this place again.

We're a huge fan of the fish tacos and guacamole at The Great Burrito! We usually ask for the creamy sauce on the side (sometimes it's a little too much). One downside is that the delivery takes forever and a day. I would recommend just swinging by and picking it up!

At first glance, the eye may wander past this tiny joint. But dont let the size of it loose your interest. The Great Burrito is right to the point, has a very modest but filling menu. Tacos, burritos, soups, salsas and a few other traditional Mexican Tastes. I suggest getting the fish tacos for $10. Once the waitress brings over the dish, you'll probably think these two overfilled tacos wont be enough. But be surprised, they will hit the spot. Theyre perfectly deep fried ( who the hell doesnt love deep fried ), with a soft and juicy inside. The chipotle cream sauce is like crack to me, really good and the high doesnt last long--i was tempted to ask for another helping of it. Other things that may tickle your fancy--the guac, pastor anything (taco, burrito,etc.). Apparently the el pastor is the shining star here--many people have claimed to love it. P.S. the burritos are fucking huge, how can one consume it in one sitting?! Theres about 8 seats so if i were you, id be a lazy glutton and stay home and get some delivery. i must try that flan..flan is so good...its the only dessert here but it will be attacked by me next time.

Cool little hole in the wall Mexican place. I was skeptical at first when I read the name, but I enjoyed this spot much more than my last hole in the wall Mexican joint. It doesn't have much seating, looks much more like a takeout place. I had the pastor tacos and beef burrito. The pastor tacos were very good. The pork was well seasoned and cooked well. They were garnished with cilantro and lime, but they did lack onions. They were bigger than I had expected, I didn't really need the burrito. The burrito was absolutely massive. It suffered from poor assembly, one end was left open and half the contents spilled out onto my plate. Might as well have ordered a burrito bowl. My only gripe is it's a bit pricey for what it is and that it took a lot longer to prepare than I had expected.

We order chicken chipotle, avocado salad, soft steak tacos and guacamole with chips. Everything was delicious , the only downside was the surprise bone inside the tacos which thankfully we saw in time :) Small place but very tasty and authentic food. Will definitely return and order take out .

Ordered from the place a few times and are in once. The food is good. It's about $10 for two tacos. The place is small and only has room for 4-6 people at tables inside. The television is usually on showing programing in Spanish. Staff is nice. When I could eat gluten, my favorite item on the menu was the tortilla soup. It is a tomato broth with melted cheese and avocados. The cooked and uncooked ingredients mix well together. If you order it to go, the container is much smaller than the portion when eating in. When I get the soup, I prefer to eat in for the full experience. The fish tacos are a big hit there. Recommended.

Tacos were alright, but not worth the wait. Girl at the counter was really the reason for the poor review. Told her I was allergic to fish, and to keep the fish tacos separate from the other food. She said they probably shouldn't be touching... I had to ask her three times to make sure before she was willing to go to the back and let them know.

Im not a big fan of Mexican food and yet I've now ordered from this place 2 days in a row. The only thing I have ordered is the fish tacos but I don't think I would order anything else because it's just so good. The fish tacos are def made to order, the fish is fresh and juicy (not dried at all) and the cabbage and tomato mix they put on top covered with chipotle mayo is delicious. They also have a great option for many different meat tacos, burritos and quesadillas. There is also the option to order a bunch of different Mexican sodas. The place is tiny but comfortable enough if you want to sit and eat (I have only done takeout) and the girl up front is nice and always ask if there are any questions, but does not try to be overly friendly. Definitely worth the trip if your in the mood for Mexican.

Very good, a little pricey, but authentic and sizeable portions. I always pick-up, since I've heard their delivery services isn't great.

Been living in North Jersey my whole life. Recently moved to Edgewater and tried this place out for delivery. Delivery was quick and the food was delicious. Ordered twice since and the food has been just as good each time. It's pretty much exactly what Chipotle should be.

First time ordering from The Great Burrito. Food was pretty good. Price is on par with other Mexican places in the area and the portions were pretty good. I had enough for 2 meals. I had Tortilla soup and Enchilada de Mole. The soup was excellent. I am taking 1 star away for the delivery time. I ordered after the lunch rush and it took over an hour for my food. When I called the person who answered the phone wasn't sure about my address. But it took me calling and asking where my food was at. I would suggest this place if you can go pick up - not the delivery.

I could give 3 stars, can't say that was a service business, no discussing no talking, cold service, The food is just ok with not cheap prices !

I tried the spicy pork taco, the chipotle taco and the fish taco. The first two were alright... a bit on the salty side. But my main reason for going there was to try the fish tacos... and yeah - these are pretty GOOD. Finally, i was able to find a good fish taco place around my neighborhood. Will try their burritos next, and have it delivered this time to see how they fair in that area. Expect $7-10 for two tacos. I had three, should have probably stopped at two, as far as serving sizes go.

Beats all the commercial crap! Ever since Chipotle lowered their standards it has been hard for me to find an authentic mexican place that doesn't get me sick to my stomach. Not so long ago, i found this little gem. There is nothing better in the area, you can taste the freshness! I've tried the tacos, burritos, fish tacos are delish! Each plate comes with baby lettuce and pico de gallo. Guacamole is excellent, although I've never received tortilla chips with my orders, salsa and lemon slices should also be added.. Delivery is fast. Definitely recommend this place to someone looking for the closest thing to a home cooked meal.

  • Jin C.

Places like this really don't need a lengthy review. If you are in the area and in the mood for some Mexican- or some great food- check this place out. Not so much of a sit down place so keep that in mind... But the food will make up for any inconvenience you felt with not being able to sit down, or to find parking...

I was never a fan of Mexican food until I met my boyfriend. Throughout the years, we've tried many places - some hits, some misses. This place - a definite hit. I've had take out a couple of times (and eaten there once) - ordered the fresh guacamole every time. It's got fresh chunks of tomato and onion - a guac of substance. And the tortilla chips served with it come piping hot and crispy. I haven't ventured beyond the al pastor quesadillas - only because they are so freaking good. The spicy pork is tender with some heat, and drowns in cheesy goodness. My boyfriend has had their burritos (chicken and braised pork). I tried the braised pork one - so flavorful and tender. And the size of their burritos are huge - definitely shareable. I know nowadays that we should be careful of all the sugary drinks. But, I do recommend the Jarritos fruity sodas, and the iced horchata. The place is not spacious, so it can't really accommodate large groups (they've got four tables for two, which they can combine for you if need be). There is no rest room (I'm sure there is one for employees in the back somewhere). But, there isn't one visible, and I've never asked...

Ordered delivery countless times from this tiny place, tried almost everything and trust me you won't be disappointed. My favorites are fish tacos, tacos al pastor and shrimp burrito. BTW they don't skimp on ingredients.

Awesome little authentic place. Living in CA for several years I've really struggled to find some good Mexican food on the East Coast. This place is small and nothing fancy but the food is fresh, tasty and authentic. You know its going to be good when telemundo soap operas are playing on the TV. The guac was so fresh, the chips straight out the oven and the spicy pork tacos were amazing. Will definitely be back soon.

Food is awesome. Not much of a place for a sit down meal, but we order often, and the food is always fresh and tasty and in the burritos are huge! Definitely recommend!

We ordered 2 al pastor burritos for delivery on a Sunday afternoon. We live only 5 minutes away, but it took 1.5 hours for our salty, mediocre burritos to arrive at room temperature. This place was a huge disappointment, especially in light of of the positive reviews from others.

Great place for Mexican food. Guacamole and chip are awesome! Chicken quesadilla is the bomb. Delivery is a bit slow but well worth it.

  • Sam M.

This place is super small, almost uncomfortable to eat. Our table was dirty when we arrived. Service was mediocre at best. Food was OK nothing great, wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. Maybe i would order take out if nothing else was open? Guac was delicious but thats honestly about it. Really this place is a bare bones delivery place.

  • Dhara B.

I came here during summer on a busy night but the wait was not that long and we got a table pretty fast. The food was pretty amazing, which is why it was so busy. The place is kind of small, so not ideal for large group. I feel like the environment of the restaurant is set up for couples. I would definitely come back. There are plenty of options for vegetarians which is a plus. There is no parking available, only street parking which can be hard to find. The serving size is pretty large so come in with a large appetite. Overall, if you are craving pretty good quality Mexican food this is the place.

Super expensive place. it was 8 dollars with tax from TWO tacos. I know edgewater is an expensive area to live in but doesn't mean the food has to be. This establishment isn't a place to sit and eat. It's extremely small. Food is decent just way over priced.

    (2)
  • Erik Z.

Excellent food! We had the chicken mole tacos and braised pork burrito delivered. The price is reasonable given the portion. The burrito was literally almost twice the size of a chipotle burrito. The mole sauce is deep, rich and flavorful... The braised pork is tender and pull apart goodness. If you order from here, be aware of the wait time. It took nearly an hour for the food to arrive, but it was well worth the wait.

  • Gaby C.

I have to confess and say this is my favorite place to order food in the whole neighborhood - I probably order from here no less than 2-3 times a month. The flavors are extremely rich and authentic and the portions are amazing - it reminds me of my mothers cooking :) My fiance, whom is a huge Chipotle fan, had never tasted authentic Mexican food, and though it is pricier to order from here I convinced him that it was well worth it. Immediately, after his first bite, he was blown away - he really never tasted real Mexican food before. We are both vegans, who LOVE spicy food. The spicy sauce is SOOO good we would literally buy it if it was for sale. In all, I love the Great Burrito and highly recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood.

  • Piri X.

Really good Mexican food! This place is hidden off a street on river road, so it's easy to miss. The price is a little more than your average Mexican place. It is also very tiny with very limited seating. I got really great service from the girl at the cash register. Now for the food.. I ordered the fish and steak taco. The steak taco was delicious and a decently sized meal. The fish taco was okay, not my personal favorite. I didn't like the texture of how they made the fish crispy and they put too much of the sauce.. My co-worker had the chicken burrito, and he said it was really good. He ate the whole thing, so I'm guessing it was :)

    (4)
  • Mike Y.

Fish tacos and spicy pork burrito is a must (4 stars). The food is great but the girl who takes the order never says hello, thank you, or good bye (minus 1). I've been to this place at least 7 times because of my wife's desire for fish tacos. If it was up to me, I would prefer to go somewhere where the staff appreciates my business.

"The Great Burrito? Sounds lame. I'll just order from the closer Mexican restaurant." -That was me for the past year. What an idiot. Try the guacamole.

The menu from the Great Burrito showed up in my building. What a great alternative to all the blah Chinese deliveries available in the area. I ordered the Enchilada Verde, my friend got the Enchilada Mole. We also got guacamole and chips to share. Our dinner arrived hot, fresh and ready to be devoured! My Enchilada Verde was flavorful, a bit spicy, cheesy, saucy. The rice and refried beans that came with the enchilada are flavorful as well. It was a wonderful dinner. My friend's Enchilada Mole was good as well. The chips that accompanied their guacamole tasted like it was made from scratch. My friend also got flan and horchata (a traditional Mexican drink), she was happy with both. I've ordered the same enchilada as well as guacamole and chips from them multiple times and the food quality is consistently good. Because they are busy, it takes some time for delivery to show up. So don't wait until you are starved when you call for delivery. Call them before you are at a point when you need a sneaker's bar to not be a diva!

  • Giselle G.

I had the grilled chicken burrito, nice size with a small salad on the side.. food was really good!!!!!!! wasn't very happy that the girl on the phone gave me a hard time because the min for delivery is $15 and my order was $14.49 and i am down the block literally.....otherwise i totally recommend the food and will be ordering from there again for sure.

Legit authentic Mexican place! Not super cheap but worth it. The wife had the al pastor tacos and I had the braised pork burrito (its the size of a toddler diaper). Definitely left satisfied. Muy rico! They have cool drinks too like horchata and local Mexican sodas. Definitely recommend this place Tip: there is parking down the alley next to it

Spend $28.66 on enchiladas verdes , chips and salsa a bottle of water and a flan, plus tiping the delivery guy around $32-$33 everything was good enchiladas were great and the flan good , the only bad thing was my salsa for the chips I couldn't eat any of my chips with it the salsa was literally like a watery salsa flavor , the chip would get wet but no salsa on it , alil disappointed with that and spending $33 just on my self not sure if it was a delivery charge but the guy did not left no bill. The enchiladas were really good tho .

Really poor quality ingredients. Slow service too. Too much grease, and i've had better nachos at movie theaters. if you wanna be a cheapo authentic peasant mexican food place, fine, but don't charge these prices. I don't understand how people give this five stars, really? five stars? you've never had better food of it' kind. Please. I couldn't even dare eating the fish tacos here from fear of illness.

Good food but service is not good at all. Sat there for ten minutes and no one offered us help or said anything. When we went to counter to ask a question the response was short and very nasty! Won't be coming back- for this reason. Should tell staff to be kind to customers.

By far the best Burrito. It takes a lot for me to write a review on a restaurant. This was the best burrito I had in a long time IF NOT EVER !! . The tacos were equally as good. I will not hesitate to order from them again !! The portions are very big , you can easily share this with someone else and have more than enough. The tacos they do not skimp on the meat, the ground beef was very good too just the right amount of seasoning not dry or over done. The food was 5 stars hands down. I only gave them 4 stars for the following reasons and this is really just being picky. 1. They have a min of 15.00 for delivery , I totally get it that they want to make it worth there while but for 1 person that is a bit much. Maybe drop it down to 10$ that might help a little bit. 2. The delivery time was 45 min to deliver it with in the same town. In retrospect, I should not have been lazy and gone to pick it up. Overall very impressed. As long as they can maintain the quality I am a fan !!

let me just say, the great burrito is really just that i weighed my black bean burrito and it came in at 1lb 12oz, wuuuuuuuuut?!?!?!? nonetheless, i was determined to put this small baby in my belly! the chips and guacamole were pretty good as well i would skip the salsa...tasted like watered down taco bell style sauce

Simply the best Mexican in New Jersey. Have never actually eaten there, have had delivery 5 times, so delicious don't need to go. Nothing beats eating great Mexican delivered to your home, then eating while watching Yankee game. Ahhhhhh

I'm glad that there is a great Mexican place that I can support. I think I've eaten here 3 times this past week because of the snow and the food has been consistent all 3 times. My favorite item by far is the fish taco. The fish is fried just right, and the chipotle cream sauce has a nice mellow kick to it. They give you just enough without drowning the entire taco with it (happens at a lot of other establishments). Other items I've tried are the chicken chipotle tacos, Al Pastor burrito, chicken chipotle, and they did not disappoint. The taco portions are great for a nice comfortable meal, but if you're looking to eat a meal that will put your ass to sleep, go for the burritos. The Horchata and Jamaica are great drinks. The Jamaica is pretty sweet but it taste great. You can never go wrong with Mexican coke, and I've never had a bad apple soda so I'm glad they offer Sidral here. My wife just ordered again for dinner so I guess it's meal number 4 this week!

Had the fish tacos and the braised pork burrito. They were SO GOOD! Fish was meaty, crispy and fresh. The pork was flavorful and tender. The portions were a good size too. My boyfriend and I ate the tacos and half the burrito and took the rest home. They only lost a star because it is a little pricey for tacos/burritos, but definitely will be returning!

  • Sofia R.

The Great Burrito makes some good food, and has fairly quick free delivery, but I find them to be a bit overpriced for what they're serving compared to other places. Don't be fooled by their burritos huge size! While they charge $10+ dollars for each burrito! you're still only getting $5 of meat. They just overly stuff them with rice and beans to make them huge. I've had both the shrimp and al pastor burritos, and while they were tasty, finding a piece of pork or a shrimp in this giant log of rice was like going on a scavenger hunt.

  • Sue K.

Have only gotten delivery from here. As others have mentioned, delivery/wait time is slow. But the food is good. We've ordered the guacamole and chips (first time it was delicious, second time chips were stale, third time the guac didn't have onions), the steak and onion quesadilla (a little oily and very cheesy - yum), the fish tacos (nice portions of fish, very yum), beef hard tacos (good), chipotle chicken burrito (i didn't have this but it was big and basically meat, rice and beans - heard it was very good). Happy that they deliver; not happy about the NYC prices at an NJ hole in the wall. Overall, food is good, although it would probably taste better if it was delivered faster.

This place gets 1 star from me because of service. Three Strikes and you are out. 1st Strike - Ordered for take out about $44 worth. Most of the order just tasted wrong. Went back and some things were redone. No apology, no hey would you like a dessert on us, nothing but an excuse. 2nd Strike - I placed and order and was told to pick it up in 15 minutes. I get there and nothing. 20 minutes....30minutes... I get getting its coming right out.... 45 minutes later it comes out. This time I did get a quick sorry about that. 3rd Strike and while this might be a minor one, I ordered a quesadila. They always gave me sour cream and salsa. And I always said no thanks to the salsa as not to let things go to waste. Last time I came in and they just gave me salsa. I asked for sour cream instead and they said it will be $1 more. Now it's not about a $1 more but you should take care of your repeat customers especially the ones that had experience same bad service in the past. As to comment on their food, it is pretty good for this area. I personally think slighly over priced for the amounts you get. But the quality and taste is worth it. I would recommend an improvement in customer service and adjustment for price to match what you get.

I love this place. The delivery takes a while, so don't order if you're in a rush. But it's so worth the wait. The fish tacos are awesome. Flaky, tender fried battered with that chipotle sauce... killer. The shrimp tacos are great. Everything I've had has been good and is very fresh. I love the online ordering, too. In fact, I'll order some up right now.

Finally - a local Mexican spot with authentic food that's not Chipotle or Moe's! I've lived in the area for 8 years and have only now found out and tried this place. The portions are hearty and the flavors are really on point. I picked up a grilled chicken burritoo and a braised port burrito, along with some fresh guac. This will definitley be my go-to when I'm craving a burrito, taquito or real Mexican food.

I don't know I saw all the great reviews about this place and i could not wait to try it.. Well I ordered to go: Al Pastor Taco Cochinita Pibil Taco, Chorizo Quesadillas I ended up throwing half the food away because it was just not good. Meat in the tacos was just blend, tortillas were just too thick, a little better was the quesadilla but still nothing to be remembered. I want to support local business rather than going to chipotle or moes, but...

Service wasn't great but no big deal. The food's just okay and very pricey considering the quantity and quality of what you are given. Think they reheated my tacos in the microwave as the temp of the tortillas and filling all was piping hot. Got two tortillas on one taco and one tortilla on the other. Too bad cause I was hoping to have a good Mexican place close by my apt.

I ordered over an hour and a half ago. Two simple things chicken and beef quesadillas. When it finally gets here, I get two orders of shrimp and peppers quesadillas. When I called to ask them to bring me my right order. The girl begins telling me that she knows I didn't order chicken and steak and that I AM WRONG. So then she tells me if I want the chicken and steak I have to pay for them. This is horrible service, I mean they made a mistake and want me to pay for it! I've ordered from this place many times and I definitely will not be a returning customer after this.

Food: 4 Service: 4 Hole-in-the-wall place with A-OK Mexican food. My friend and I split the al pastor burrito and fish tacos. Another friend ordered the al pastor quesadilla, Al Pastor Burrito: It truly is great, and quite huge; the spicy pork was very tender and tasty. Fish Tacos: Yum! The creamy chipotle sauce is incredible. Al Pastor Quesadilla: Cheese was just ok, but the pork portions were generous and also very good. We also got chips with salsa and guacamole. Chips were solid. There were two types of salsa; the mild one was more flavorful than the spicy one. The guac was fresh and tasty, but IMO could have used a little more salt and cayenne. I've never really had horchata before, but I found theirs to be delicious! The two ladies at the counter were very friendly. Definitely recommend this place for a sit-down lunch with one or two others.

OMG I'm sooooo happy that we finally have a good Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Me and my friends ordered 3 menus. Fish Tacos- I've tried many fish tacos at different places, and their fish tacos are absolutely the best ones!!! The flavors of fish, cabbage, lime and chipotle sauce are perfectly balanced and it's just amazing! It's a must try menu. Al Pastor Quesadillas- The pastor is tender and the most flavorful I've ever had. I also enjoyed the crispy flour tortilla too! Steak Burrito- Their burrito is huge, and has lots of meat inside!! It really tastes good with sour cream. Staffs are very friendly and well knowledgeable. Also they really take care of the food before they serve. It's simply an amazing place.

This is how mexican food should be. Not glops of food just smothered in cheese. No, this food has clean, bright and fresh flavors. I have ordered from the restaurant on several occasions and am always thrilled with the quality and taste of the food. The Al Pastor taco is the most deliciously spicy pork taco you've eaten. I'm a huge fan of the Cochinita Pibil taco which is braised pork that is so flavorful and served with a bit of pickled onions on top which really brings the flavors together. The fish tacos are outstanding and quite the value - order with the sauce on the side to keep the fish as crispy as possible during delivery. We tried the steak and onion quesadillas on a different occasion and the meat was beautifully seasoned. Only con I found was the chips and guac to be a bit undersalted but that may be a personal preference.

Their shrimp burrito was great. The food is really fresh, service was very good. I would come here again in a heartbeat. More of a takeout place as it is tiny. My husband had chicken and steak tacos and they were delicious. They give Chipotle a run for their money.

The wife and I were trying to decide what to do for dinner. We landed on the great burrito. Let me tell you. This place is awesome!!!! Have ordered delivery now 4 times in the last 30 days. We have tried a few different things so far. Our favorite is the fish tacos. Amazing!! The chipotle quesadilla is really good as well as the chorizo tacos. We have also had two different burritos which we have liked both. We will continue to order from this place. Thanks for the great food.

We order from here regularly. Everything we had was fresh and really good. Then we discovered the fish tacos. AMAZING!!! Since then it's just about the only thing we order, except their guacamole which always tastes like they made it when you ordered it and a great addition to the meal... Fresh, fresh. But seriously, the fish tacos are fantastic.

Delicious! I ordered the Al pastor quesadillas (spicy pork) and guacamole. Quesadillas were by far the best I've had, meat was juicy, tender and flavorful and even the tortilla was soft and fresh. It comes with a little side of salad that is a perfect complement to the spicy quesadilla. Guacamole was so tasty and fresh! Portions are generous and delivery time is reasonable. I'm hooked! Will definitely keep this awesome new place in our take out rotation

I had the beef tacos and guacamole with chips. Hands down, BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER! The meat was fresh, juicy and so flavorful. I got hard tacos and they give you two shells per taco so you get an extra crunch. Prepare to make a mess! The guacamole was superb. So creamy and buttery! Price could definitely be lower but delivery was fast and basically this is now my new place for Mexican. It really is amazing, so delicious. Must try.

First day of the year over 80 degrees outside and I am feasting on a giant burrito in a small Mexican restaurant with no air conditioning. The burrito was enormous and very tasty. They do not have very hot sauce, but their 'hot' sauce was a flavorful addition to the burrito.

Finally a good taco place! I tried their chicken tacos and they were delicious! Very flavorful and good portions. We also got a side of their mexican rice which was pretty good. Their prices are also reasonable. Everything also tasted very fresh. My mouth is watering just thinking about this place! Can't wait to eat here again. Next time, I'll try the enchiladas & horchata!

Delicious! Had the chorizo tacos with guac. The burritos are insanely big. Restaurant is small but I think most people get delivery or take out.

Best mexican place in Edgewater. Recommend pickup or delivery as dining room is small. Burritos are huge. Al pastor tacos were great, beef burrito was good, and Cochinita Pibil burrito was very good. Delivery was fast (about 30 mins).

Best Mexican in the area! The fish tacos are amazing. Also highly recommend the enchiladas. Great service. Only a few tables but perfectly comfortable to eat in. We had also had delivery and everything was great. Chips are fresh and if you eat in they are served hot! Guacamole is to die for. Check it out. You won't regret it!

Great little find! They stayed open past their closing time to accommodate us. I had the chicken chipotle tacos and my wife had the steak and onion tacos, both very good. Although they have a few tables inside, it's more of a takeout place.

Fresh and tasty! The service was good....Small guac doesnt come with chips so u have to order the large and then ur too full to finish ur food #foodieproblems

I am unsure how this place got that great of reviews. I make a better burrito. For the money I'm spending I rather just go to chipolte-quicker and tastes better. I am not saying its awful, but I expected a lot more. I got the steak/onion burrito I just felt it was missing something.

We finally have a great Mexican place in the area!! I was so excited when I saw the Great Burrito pop up on GrubHub. The food was awesome. We ordered the vegetable burrito, bean tacos, guacamole, chips and salsa and everything was excellent. The Guacamole was so fresh and tasty. I loved the salsa as well. The tacos and burrito come with a little salad as well which was great. The food even arrived faster than I expected! I think the prices are good and the portions are generous. I have already ordered from here twice and I am officially hooked!!!

For a tiny hole in the wall on a modest side street in our little hamlet of Edgewater, which has many many food choices for such a small town, the Great Burrito looms large and has become our favorite "go to" when we want, nay NEED, a yummy and authentic Mexican meal to bring us right back to our great trips to a small seaside fishing village in the Quintana Roo. I had the soft fish tacos our first time to GB and haven't since been able to order any other main course from them (and we've ordered a dozen times since their recent opening) The fish is well cooked and flaky without being at all dry, the tacos are authentic and the lime chipotle sauce is perfectly cooling and revelatory. Delicious and addictive. Guacamole is perfectly seasoned and fresh, the steak in the steak and onion quesadillas is lightly charred and juicy, the tortilla soup is chickeny and limey and so good. Though it's more of a takeout or delivery place, that shouldn't deter you from making the trip and sitting at one of their few tables and eating the food hot out of the kitchen. It does feel like Mexico. One of these days I'll try something else on the menu, but when the craving for fish tacos creeps into the psyche, nothing else will do. Guess we will be going to Great Burrito tonight...!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
