This review is rather long over do. I started frequenting the N Zone a few years ago when I first moved to Lincoln. The N Zone's unique location (not to withhold mention of the historic Haymarket) and obvious sports theme make it a great place to watch the game (Go 'Skers!) and devour wings til your heart's content. Their choices of wing sauces are deep and the rest of the food has been more than agreeable while consuming my favorite draft beer. However, a recent considerable run of bad experiences have forced me to remove a couple of stars from my rating. First, service on a given weekend night is very poor due to the fact that one (or possibly two) server(s) is/are responsible for covering the entire floor's booths and tables including the rear section with the couch. When the place packs out it is simply not efficient to rely on one server. Not only does the food take too long to arrive but you end up thirsty because it is a waiting game to get your pitcher filled. In addition, when you are looking to pay your check and leave you end up waiting around to pay your server as she struggles with every other table in the place. Lastly, the N Zone is also a popular destination to catch UFC events. On a recent UFC event night (BJ Penn vs. GSP) I and a number of friends were surprised and appalled to find out that a birthday party was taking place at the N Zone and that the party reserved ALL of the available table setting sans the booths on the perimeter. I have no objection to a customer wanting to have a party at the N Zone even on a Saturday night. But to have such a blanket reservation of all the table setting seemed a bit much especially since upon observation it did not seem as though all the seating was being used by the party goers. This left the bar area and side booth areas particularly crowded due to all the standing. So, for my group of friends, the prospect of having a few beers and possibly having some wings while watching UFC was a complete bust and left a bad taste in all our mouths. :-(

All I can say is lately it is going downhill. Back when I was in college you could go down to the Nzone and get these huge chicken wings that were fantastic. Now they look like these tiny little leftovers of years gone by. Besides the sub-par food I got the last time I was there the service was not much better. The poor bartender tried his best to help us out since the server was doing nothing more than texting on her phone or talking with an obvious group of friends that came in. I am not sure what happened here lately but it just wasn't the same. Looks like they tried to fix things up a little by redoing part of the floor but in looking at it all it was is the stuff you put on your garage floor with red, white and black speckles in it....maybe redo the 15 year old carpet while your at it might help a little to. Overall I would just have to say it appears to just slowly be turning into a dive. You would think with the lines of people I see there drinking on football Saturdays they could reinvest a little of that money made back into the place....just a thought.

No thanks. Loud frat boys, tons of TVs, bad service, and below average bar food. If you're looking for a sports bar go to Brewsky's down the street, or if it's bar food you want go to The Watering Hole.

Stopped in before the Husker game. It was a great place to stop in and have a couple beers before the game. Didn't try any of the food but a friend said the buffalo wings were great.

Not sure why this place gets such bad reviews, but I'll throw in my .02c Stopped in for a few drinks before the Nebraska/Northwestern game. A friend of mine ordered a Bloody Mary of some sort, and I had a Diet Coke with some sort of mixer (at this point, I can't remember what liquor I had that day - probably don't want to remember, either). The atmosphere was typical pre-game Lincoln - people getting liquored up before moseying on over to the stadium. Good atmosphere, a bunch of Iowa haters, my kinda crowd. I didn't get to try any of the food. Our bartender was very efficient and nice, considering the crowd. I would go back.

This is a perfect hole in the wall (or hole in the ground rather) that if you need to get away from the business of the downtown Lincoln area. Cheap drinks, good service, decent amount of TVs. If you're downtown and would rather be with some sports regulars, go here. And check out the pepper jack cheese bites!

Have stopped in for a few beers twice before Husker basketball games in the past two weeks. Biggest issue is lack of servers. We were given our first beer and not checked on again for over an hour. Went to bar to get two more drinks. I would avoid this bar on any event days as there are much better options close by

The N-Zone is pretty much your typical college sports bar. Lots of seats, lots of big screen TVs and average food. It's more about the camaraderie than the food anyway. And I'm sure that they have a fantastic selection of beers. Our table ordered chicken wings, pizza and nachos. No surprise here. The barbecue chicken pizza was good, with my only grip about it being the crust. I don't know if it wasn't fully cooked, or it was some strange combination of grains, but it just didn't have that pizza dough tastet and consistency that I expect. Wings were ordered both in the mild and hot varieties. The hot wings were "smokin" hot. (they still had another level of heat available) The wings were very tasty although I thought that some of the smaller ones were just slightly over cooked. I didn't try the nachos, but it was a good large order, covered with chicken all all the other prerequisites and looked appetizing. Although we were there around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant sure wasn't crowded but it was already summer break and there were no games happening that afternoon. Overall a nice place that I'd like to try out when it's really hopping.

First off, yes the service can be lacking, not that the wait staff are inattentive, there are just too few of them. The n-zone has taken over the crown of the best wings in Lincoln, since the watering hole cannot seem to realize that charging $2 for a single wing is robbery. I would also argue that the n-zone wings are every-bit as good, if not better than the watering hole, and much more reasonably priced.

If chickens could make lists of places to destroy when they take over the world, the N-zone is probably near the top of the list, simply because of the sheer number of chicken wings that are served on consumed here. The wing sauce combinations are top notch and unique. If you like buffalo chicken wings, this is your mecca. Oh, and the waitresses are lovely as well, many are so attractive you're suspicious of why they are in Lincoln working at a bar that serves wings.
