We stumbled upon this place while traveling for a few days in Fargo, ND. When I pulled up I was a bit concerned but the food was excellent. The omelettes were great and they had impressive cajun options on the menu. The service was great and they were extremely friendly. They do not accept AMEX - just a FYI.

Not a fan. We decided to try this place based on the reviews here. Order the Louisiana planner and my partner had one of the Po Boys. Platter not worth the $12 Buffalo sausage in the Po Boy was tasty but nothing spectacular. Would not return.

Probably my favorite place for breakfast in this town, the Cajun Cafe offers more interesting twists on omelettes and pancakes than your average diner. Game meats, andouille, gator, etc. liven up the menu and make it truly unique. Because let's face it: while breakfast can be tasty, most places that do it are pretty boring. Cajun Cafe manages to offer breakfasts that escape being labeled prosaic, without being being uppity/vegan/"sustainable", etc. It's a down-home feel with a truly unique menu, and that's a tough combination to find! Not as potent as other Cajun dining I've had, it's still my favorite place for going out to breakfast in Fargo.

If you are ever in Fargo and need breakfast, GO HERE! That's an order. I've only ever had the omelettes, because they are so good I dare not order anything else. Mountain man, crawfish, or whatever else- no matter which you order, it will be delicious. I *highly* recommend getting a sweet potato pancake. All of the omelettes come with toast, but you can sub a sweet potato pancake for a small extra charge, which could not be more worth it. One is enough- it's the size of a plate, and very very thick. They come with an amazing cane sugar syrup which is just.... YUUUUUUM. Top it off with a chicory coffee for the world's most perfect breakfast (or at the very least, the best in Fargo!!). Highest recommendation. Go on Mondays for a deal on the omelette too.

It's a super random place on the outskirts of Fargo. I was not impressed when I saw the outside or when I sat down inside. The decorations are super cheap/cheesy and probably from the dollar store. I judged a little and wasn't expecting good food. I was wrong. This place is more than meets the eye. I tried the crawfish omelet and sweet potato pancake. The omelet came with this red sauce which was so flavorful. The hash browns were mediocre. I needed to add salt to them, and I never add salt to my food. The sweet potato pancake deserves its own paragraph. It was sooo good! The waitress gave me sugarcane syrup and said it goes really well with the sweet potato pancake. She also gave me maple syrup, but I didn't use it because I was obsessed with the sugarcane and kept pouring it on. I was full but still fantasized about the pancake for the rest of the day. I already want to go back for those pancakes!!

I have never had breakfast here at the Cajun Caffe I can tell you this I was not disappointed, however I'm picky about my syrup I like it warm I'm sure if I asked they may of warmed it up but I did not ask. For my breakfast I had one pancake and some grits. Let me tell you what my 1 pancake filled me up it it covered the whole plate, however I am puzzled as to how they cooked it. It was light and fluffy at times it almost tasted as though it had a deep fried taste. Nevertheless it still was very delicious. I'm a grit snob "LOL" I'm sure they were from a box and not made from scratch but they tasted like heaven to me I would have to say this would be my second place runner up for grits in the FM area. They we're light fluffy and airy and smooth to the taste buds. I don't get coffee to often unless I need a pick me up the coffee here is for good and doesn't need any doctoring up but I still need to have my cream.

Best hole-in-the-wall in Fargo. Great, authentic Cajun food. Fried everything, Po Boys, and fantastic breakfast items. The Sweet Potato pancakes and biscuits are both to die for. The atmosphere is super laid back, so I'm comfortable every time I go. They do get busy on Sundays, especially for holidays. There is a bar with darts and pool in the basement. They also serve food downstairs.

I adore this place. I used to come here regularly when they were downtown. Now that they have moved, I don't go as often as I would like. My loss. This place has the best and most interesting breakfasts in town. I would recommend the Cajun omelette. The service is efficient and friendly. The only downside is the location. The parking lot is a little awkward and small too.

I was expecting more cajun flavor. I had the crawfish ettouffe and was very disappointed. The roux was sweet (I was expecting savory) and I could not taste the crawfish at all. Definitely not worth the price (around $17). The biscuit that came with the dish was so perfect that it really makes me want to come back for breakfast (which they serve all day).

Wow - I loved this place. I can't believe it's been here as long as it has and I hadn't heard about hit. I drive through town a lot and spend about a dozen nights a year in F/M and I'm going to be making this place a frequent stop. First, the service is outstanding. The waitress was cheerful and very helpful with the menu. When I asked about two dishes I didn't get the usual "oh, everything is VERY good" crap you usually get. Instead, she gave me a detailed run down of the the items I was interested in and added her personal preferences. My biggest dilemma was brought on by their special: Cranberry Pancakes. They looked too good to pass up but I HAD to try the Crawfish Omelet. So...I ordered both and wow - what a great decision as both dishes were outstanding. The pancakes were huge, light and perfectly cooked and the topping was like a warm blanket of love. The Crawfish Omelet was unlike any omelet I've ever had - a perfect blend of breakfast and cajun crawfish goodness. I was really sad that my stomach filled long before I was able to finish it. I think I had a tear in my eye as she took the unfinished portion away. I was stuffed but I can never resist a fresh Beignet so I got an order to go - also with cranberry topping. They were good but not great - certainly not Cafe du Monde level. And in this case the overly sweet cranberry topping was too much for the already sweet beignets. While I was eating I also a huge platter of appetizers and a plate of crawfish come out - both looked great. I think the table next to me ordered gumbo although I wouldn't have known by the looks - I don't know if I'd try that. Food wise I probably would have awarded a 4 star review - this isn't true, finger lickin' good cajun food but it is pretty damn good for Fargo ND. The service, however, tilted my score up to a five. I'll definitely be back - keep that pot of chicory coffee fresh for me!

I went here for breakfast with a friend. I had doubts going in that it would measure up to my beloved Lucile's restaurant in Fort Collins, CO (also Cajun-themed), and it didn't. The beignets were good and the best part of the meal. They were four good-sized beignets for a reasonable price. Chicory coffee was fine, sausage gravy was fine, my friend's Cajun omelet was fine. The biscuit that came with my gravy was NOT fine. It seemed like it came from a tube, and compared to the incredible biscuits at Lucile's it was a major disappointment. The service was good, and I liked that the water glasses were actually glass, not plastic. Ambience was okay. We may go back for the beignets, but otherwise I was hoping for more based on some other reviews. That said, the people sitting next to us were raving about their shrimp and grits, and pictures of the po'boys with a side of rice looked good.

Breakfast is pretty good with generous portions. The biscuits and gravy is a big meal. The gravy isn't over spicy like a lot of places. The biscuits are pretty good. They aren't dry like some people like and they aren't hard like other places serve- they're closer to fresh bread. I prefer real light and flakey biscuits, but these were very good. This was the first time I had breakfast here, but it still lived up to the standard that it sets with its sandwich bar at lunch.

I have been here once so far and, while I didn't get anything that would be considered Cajun, what I got was pretty tasty. I came here for breakfast on my day off. I was craving Biscuits & Gravy and was feeling too lazy to make my own. So, I did a quick Yelp search, and this place came up. When I showed up, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get in. The small parking lot was packed. When I walked in there were plenty of open tables though. That seemed strange, until I grabbed a table along the right side of the room. I have to say I love the architecture of this place. It's an A-frame building with a small main dining room (maybe 8 to 10 tables in the main room). But, the cool thing is that off to the right as you look into the room, there are stairs down to a lower-level room made for groups. On this day, the large table was filled with an equally large party. The main dining room looks over this room. I think if I was sitting down below I would feel a bit self-conscious having the people sitting up above, but from the upper room it just seemed cool to look down into that room. Not sure why. Call me weird. Anyway, the biscuits and gravy... They were good. Pretty basic sausage gravy but, unlike other places in the area, the gravy actually has sausage in it. It could do with a little seasoning, but overall, it was good. The biscuits were fresh and tender (if biscuits can be tender). The two biscuits with the ton of gravy were more than enough to eatt, especially with the side of hash browns, which were also done well - they were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Service was top notch. The waitress was friendly and very quick. My drink was never empty, and she talked comfortably with the regulars in for their Friday breakfast. I don't remember how much it cost, but I know it wasn't much. I would definitely come here again, and I likely will soon.

My husband and I wanted some jambalaya soup so we decided to check out this place. Walking in it was quick to see that the place wasn't really kept up well. The decor was dated with beads and face masks. The floors were dirty, it smelled a little funny too. My husband and I both had a Po-Boy and jambalaya soup. Our Po-Boys were filling but the bread wasn't the traditional stuff. We couldn't taste anything in the jambalaya but tomato... WAY too much tomato. We both only had a couple bites of it. The restaurant is also overpriced-- over $9 for a grilled ham and Swiss or BLT! There was only one waitress who worked very hard cleaning tables and waiting on all the customers. The lunch time sandwich bar looked unappetizing. Overall, we felt the restaurant was a total bust. We won't be going back there.

Good breakfast or lunch spot. Full menu served all day. I'm from Louisiana and I def give their Po Boys a 3 star. Good flavor despite lacking spice. Also needs to be on a French baguette instead of a hoagie bc the bread can get soggy if you let it sit for long. Best part of the visit was our server! She was working the floor. She was quick, nice and very patient.

Wow! This will place be able to afford their rent you won't it's overpriced. While they have the flavors and close to it. If it were popular enough we could pick up most entries in frozen section at grocery store. Seems to be all packaged and frozen. The benzes come on really? Frozen pucks thrown in fryer! Not close in sweetness or flakey ness . Having those and a good cup of coffee is a real reason to go to New Orleans folks wait all night and 3-4 hours in line to get them fresh here save your money they are frozen pucks The travel association in Louisiana should be charging this place a fee for losing travel sales if people actually think this is real! This is heated package food. Not home made. Tasty not close to real good! Hornbackers Andouille sausage is way way better! Service friendly. Because I believe their sausage is weak at best that effects so many of the other dishes their poor boy buffet lunch then is greatly effected because both of their traditional soups Are weak at best iv had better gumbo in Missouri Tennessee with name of Cajun cafe soups should be the ultimate the Mississippi River is not far. Travel south on it you'll have better gumbo in two states and not yet close to Louisiana yet Therefore name does not come close to matching Creole or Cajun food. As expensive as this place is save your cash do travel to New Orleans go down to French quarter to taste it right! I really wish this place did it right. Go homemade go fresh your insulting true Cajun cooking. Basic red beans and rice not good. Again the sausage creates the problem. Dry heat sear that andouille before cooking beans When it should be a meal in it self! Place is in need of repair and dirty. If this place was in New Orleans even as high priced as they are they would not make rent. Folks would turn their nose. Too many good food choices. This place would be gone due to lack of interest! When beans and gumbo aren't the best forget about it. As far as there breakfast again New Orleans has great southern breakfast. You want good breakfast go to the Shack

There's nothing fancy about this place, but the food is so solid, you can't go wrong. Went for breakfast while passing through town and loved the raspberry pancakes. Warning, they are huge plate-size pancakes. I foolishly ordered two and barely made a dent. Husband had the crawfish omelet - perhaps a strange choice for breakfast, but he loved it. In retrospect, I wish I would have had the room to try the beignets but it's a good reason to go back.

Ate there with my husband and it was okay. My husband had the crawfish étouffée and he was not impressed, too saucy not enough flavor. I had the pecan crusted chicken and it was okay. The server was friendly & polite and were the only two there so our server was very attentive. I think there's a bar below because they were very rambunctious, I guess it's supposed to give it a mardi gras feeling. We probably will give their breakfast a try.

Love this place. I go out for breakfast sometimes twice a week and have been to all the hotspots in Fargo. This is by far my favorite. It is very different, in a good way. The southeastern sauce is to die for, and so are the sweet potato pancakes! The service is always great and the food is consistently delicious. Highly recommend!

Pretty good food, as close to Cajun as you can get without being in Louisiana. Red beans and rice were awesome!

We had the beignets, the biscuits & gravy, and the cajun scramble. Everything was very good, and I would rate this place as having one of the best breakfasts in Fargo - Moorhead.

Hands-down our family's favorite place to eat in all of Fargo-Moorhead. I've had about every Po'Boy you can order, every single one of them was delicious! Our kids (2 & 5) love the popcorn crawfish and gobble it up every single time. The sweet potato biscuits & cane syrup make me drool just thinking about them. My husband loves the jambalaya, I'm not sure I have a favorite - everything I've eaten there is yummy!! Their wait staff is always fabulous, atmosphere is nice (family-friendly too!) prices are great, and you get lots of food - if you leave hungry, it's your own dang fault! Bar in the basement is fun too - nice, quieter place to visit with friends or watch a ball game.

I love this place. It used to be downtown in Fargo but has moved to south Fargo. Not to be confused with the place in the mall... this place has THE BEST BREAKFAST in Fargo/Moorhead. I highly recommend getting the sweet potato pancakes. Great burgers and other standards. I am not a huge fan of frog legs or gator bites, but if you are I hear they are good. My buddy gets them with a bucket of beer.
