Are you kidding me?? Did I catch this place on a bad day or something? I went to Cafe Aladdin in Fargo, North Dakota based on the reviews on YELP! and ordered a Gyros Plate. WOW! Utter disappointment! To begin with, the "cook" microwaved??@%#&! the Gyros meat for my plate. UGH! Bad beginning. Not even on the vertical rotisserie. I ordered 'to go'. Flash ahead to hotel room (I'm from out-of-town). First bite of meat was overly salty. Try the salad?? Shredded iceberg lettuce, a couple of pieces of tomato with oil (doubt it was olive) and mostly vinegar dressing with some flavorless herbs. WHERE'S THE feta cheese, Greek olives, cucumber, pepperoncinis, sliced onion and FLAVOR????? UGH!!! Tried some rice, mediocre flavor and overly oily, again -- doubt it was olive oil. Go back to gyros and some white, doughy, untoasted, pita bread that was only heated by the microwaved gyros meat. UGH!!! WHERE'S THE Tzatziki sauce?! Ate some more 'gyros' and got a bite that would make a salt lick envious. UGH!! Picked up another piece of pita dough and -- Eureka! (too bad I found it) -- The " Tzatziki sauce". Tasted the sauce and it was probably the worst part of this entire fiasco called a "Gyros Plate", watery, bitter and that sealed the deal. I threw 2/3 of the meal in the trash. Luckily?? the salt shrunk my stomach and I felt full. Half hour later and I'm enjoying the stomach ache. Gas-tly experience! Sorry, but this was awful.

They don't skimp on toppings! I ordered the gyro combo, 10 dollars which is pretty steep for a combo but I got it anyways. At least I got my money's worth, the gyro was covered in meat and toppings it was HUGE. So huge I could hardly hold it properly to take a bite. I ended up eating half and saving the other half for my husband in the evening. So with the fries we basically got two meals out of it. The taste was great, just like any gyro I've had, nothing outstanding but it didn't disappoint. Next time I am going to ask they just keep half the meat. I am not going to eat it anyways and I rather have a more manageable meal.

Very filling gyro..overloaded with meat. The fries were a lil over seasoned but the owner/cook was very nice which made it so much better...gyro was a lil over seasoned but overall a good very filling meal. Will be back to try more things

I havent been here in years but I used to frequent it quite a bit. I don't know if its the same style now but they used to have this skinned lamb-looking slab of meat that you could watch them slice off for your gyro and it was pretty cool. Not a topic to discuss if you're trying to entice someone to come with you for the first time probably but it's definitely worth trying. The good was always great and they have some of the best seasoned fries around.

I've been a fan of Cafe Aladdin for years. Great gyros and huge portions. The owner is also very polite and personable. Definitely someplace different to check out in Fargo!

Yummy yummy snack snack. It was SO good. Got to talk to the owner about his business and found out that he and his family have a few other locations as well. Which is always something I love to see. The atmosphere was what you would expect in store front restruant in ND. The food was the star! Great food, even better prices and friendly people that make it worth the drive from Bismarck.

If you like truly fantastic food more than a fancy atmosphere you MUST try this place! The gyros are out of control...I have no idea how they can pile that much divinely-seasoned meat on a fresh pita for the price. We also tried the fried vegetable appetizer...deep fried eggplant strips, zucchini slices, potatoes, and cauliflower sprinkled with this amazing paprika spice blend sprinkled on top and tzatziki for dipping. Divine! I could eat that every day! And the baklava....oh my! Not overly sweet like you get so many places. We tried 2 of their several types (next time I branch out & try the pine nut just because I've never seen it anywhere else) and both were fantastic. Additionally, they sell a few items like spices and olives. We got some of the olives to take home but I seriously doubt they would have made it home if we wouldn't have been absolutely stuffed. They certainly went fast when we got them home! I wish this place would have been here when I lived in Fargo instead of just coming in to visit family! As other reviewers have mentioned, it's just one guy doing everything (taking orders, cooking, bringing out food) but he's both remarkably fast AND friendly. The place is clean and nicer on the interior than I expected, though certainly nothing fancy.

Not the best falafel I've ever had, though tasty, but probably the biggest I've ever had. Friendly service and generous portions make this a great stop for lunch or dinner. Give it a try, it's a great heathy alternative to the normal restaurant fare.

Big menu with plenty of choice! Good and friendly service. We ordered the chicken platter and the falafel appetizer. I've had falafel at many places in the mid-west; but the falafel served here is the best i've ever had!! Highly recommend this place.

Stopped at the 32nd avenue location. I was looking for some good vegetarian options and this place was perfect. You walk up to the counter to order, so definitely a casual place, but the food was great. The vegetable wrap had great flavor and was huge. We also had the hummus which tasted extremely fresh. This is authentic Mediterranean. When I'm in the area I definitely will be coming back!

A little hole in the wall place, wouldn't see it if you didn't try. The guy working is quiet but efficient and makes some damn good food! The gyros here are nuts! The shish kabob had great spice and the sauce here is tangy and satisfying. The spanikopita, though a little greasy was sent by the gods themselves. It's a little run down and unkempt, and I did hear a microwave going so that's why I gave it 4 stars but it was worth the try!!

Mediocre Middle Eastern food at best. I love Middle Eastern, but this place always disappoints me when I get the craving.

first place i ever tried falafel. Cafe aladdin hit the spot after that. only bad thing: i remember reeking like cafe aladdin for the rest of the day following a dine-in lunch there. Great food, and deserts though!

Plato was from Greece I wish I was from Greece too They made damn good food (I'm actually impressed with the food at this local Greek restaurant. If you are looking for Greek food in Fargo, but want something quicker than Santa Lucia, give Aladdin a try. They have quite a deep menu, with many choices of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Keep in mind that it is a cafe... you order at the counter, then sit down to eat. If you're going out on a date, try Santa Lucia instead. If you're going out to eat good food, however, swing on by this place and give it a try. Recommended.)

I have been going here for 10 years. Gyros, hummus, baklava, baba ghanoush, falafel, etc. Good food, good service. The price is moderate which is expected business isn't always booming when you serve Mediterranean food in the heartland).

I have been going to this restaurant for at least 12 years. Never had a bad experience yet. I am not a world traveler but this family knows how to cook their national foods! I asked the, to consider selling the spices they put on the fries as they are fantastic. One cannot go wrong with the gyros!

This place is great for lunch. They have some good options for vegetarians like falafel and lentil rice. Not a place to take a date simply because of the bodega-like atmosphere. If your looking for some Greek food to cook with at home, they have olives, feta cheese, and more.

They have an impressive selection on the menu and even offer vegetarian-friendly options (try the falafel!). For the less adventurous eater they have options like French Fries and salad. It has the feel of an eat-in deli and is not terribly atmospheric.

The owner was super nice. We hit this place at the lunch rush or something because we had to wait a surprisingly long time for our meals. My friend suggested that it was due to one person ordering the Kabobs which are apparently always made fresh. My gyro was amazing! It was a little expensive though. I couldn't finish it because it was so large but there had not been a smaller option. I would go back to curb my gyro craving.

Easily the best gyros in town. Make sure to get the fries with seasoning on them. The owner is very friendly and will remember you if you are a regular. Desserts are good too, especially the baklava. This is a must eat in Fargo!

Delicious! Just as good as the 13th Ave location. Awesome falafel! The pita is so soft when you get it and just stuffed with falafel and veggies. To everyone saying it's expensive, remember, this isn't fast food. It's simply fast service due to the nature of Mediterranean cuisine. Think along the lines of JL Beers or Grand Junction. The food is made fresh, so it's not really fast food, it just doesn't take very long. You pay for fresh!

Every time I go here I am impressed! Food is hot and fresh. They cook lamb so well and the seasoning is spot on! I recommend the beef and lamb gyro with fries. So good!! Also, you can't beat the price.
