Oahu Hawaiian BBQ and Sushi Bar Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The service was good and the waiters seemed authentically Hawaiian. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the BBQ pork, which I thought would have a sauce. But it was nicely seasoned. The miso was under seasoned; that was a low point. But the rest of the meal was good.

Almost 5 dollars for One Piece of spam Misubi?! Food is on point but seriously overpriced. Chicken katsu is also good but again for the price I paid back in California I should have enough food for 3 meals.

Enticed by promises of Thai food, I found only a couple standards, so ordered the teriyaki chicken... was a flavorless (unsalted, unseared. Microwaved?) cut of breast on a hot plate with teriyaki poured over top. Teriyaki also tasted straight from Cisco, and to top it off the "dipping sauce" for the chicken was... 1000 Island salad dressing. Two stars.

Went here with my boyfriend and we were really impressed! Lots of delicious food for cheap and the service is great. I recommend the salmon tartar, five way sashimi, and tuna tataki. Very light and flavorful!

Very solidly good food and good service. We were on a road trip and stopped here for dinner based on yelp reviews. This is the first time I have Hawaiian food so I am not an expert but our meal was difinitely very flavorful. For Hawaiian food, we ordered the BBQ chicken salad, beef kabob, buffalo chicken empanadas and pineapple fried rice,. They are all very good although I wish the BBQ had a more intense flavor. As for Japanese we ordered the valentine roll but asked for salmon instead of tuna, which they did substitute for no extra charge. The fish was fresh and creamy and the rice was properly cooked without being over-handled. All in all a very good meal.

Went here for dinner mid road trip. Our server was excellent and very attentive. We were able to get immediate seating. We had the buffalo chicken empanadas appetizer, garlic shrimp entree and a spicy crab crunchy roll. It was all good and edible but nothing to write home about. It seems like everything off the menu comes from Sysco. The plum sake tasted like those flavored antibiotics they give you when you're a kid and have an ear infection. But the hot sake was good. If you're more of a farm to table, cook my food fresh, keep it out of the freezer kind of gal than this probably isn't for you. But if you like well prepared Sysco products than eat to your hearts content!

I'm gonna go with four stars here. I ate brunch here with a couple of friends. We all had the loco moco. It was OK, but not quite as "comforty" as I'm used to. It was just a little too fancy for me, I guess I'm used to eating Hawaiian food at hole in the wall places. I recently grabbed a few spam musubis to go. When I arrived to pick up the order, I was surprised to see the sushi guy assembling the musubis. I'm accustomed to the pre-made variety. Nice. The musubis were very tasty. This is Hawaiian cuisine prepared with more care than I'm accustomed to. I'll definitely return to try the katsu and/or the pad thai. Take a chance and give this spot a try!

I eat a lot of sashimi. Well... let's just say when I do go out to a restaurant that serves sushi, I almost always order the sashimi dinner. I have not, repeat NOT had sashimi as good as the sashimi served at Oahu Hawaiian BBQ and Sushi Bar! I first went on a Sunday. The sashimi dinner presentation is spectacular. It is a work of art. The menu explained the dinner would have 14 pieces of sashimi. It arrived with five different types of sashimi and a total of 18 pieces. The tuna was the least interesting of the bunch, but still very good. With the right amount of soy and wasabi, the tuna was tasty. The hamachi was juicy and melted in my mouth. The star of the dish, however, was the salmon. I seriously had forgotten how good salmon sashimi can be. All pieces were sliced perfectly, were the right size and all melted in my mouth. No unnecessary chewing, just a delicious burst of flavor that had me making yummy sounds at my table for one. I didn't notice anyone staring, thank goodness. I was in Bismarck four nights. Three of those nights I dined at Oahu Hawaiian BBQ and Sushi Bar. I could not convince myself to eat anything but the sashimi dinner. Each night the sashimi was just as delicious as the night before. Perfect consistency. That's SO important when it come to raw fish. The wait staff was so nice. I mean really nice. The ambience is pretty good for a place that was obviously a fast food joint in a prior life. I think it's fair to say when I go back to Bismarck, considering I went three times in one week, I will most definitely be back!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I decided we were hungry at 9:30 pm and I love thai so we decided to try Oahu since they were the only restaurant in Bismarck we knew that had thai. Lucky for us it was delicious!! They served us salad with a delicious ginger sauce and I got Phad Thai, very very good! It was a large size and had lots of flavor. The waiter was super nice even though it was late and we had a fabulous late night date!!

Ok, yes, it's not what you would expect in Bismarck, and I'm rating this for what it is, where it is. We were on a cross-country trip and wanted something fresh and light after a couple days of burgers. The outside of the restaurant looks sketchy, but inside it's lively, if a bit cramped. We ordered edamame, green tea, and two of the specialty rolls. They weren't spectacular (and the whole multi-Asian cuisine thing is never really a great idea) but they weren't bad, and if you're stopping through and staying at one of the hotels clustered nearby, I would recommend this over the endless fast food and chain options in walking distance. Service was really friendly!

Pretty darn good. I had basic tuna avocado rolls and they could have used a bit more rice and tuna (plenty of avocado), but they were fresh and tasty. The star of my meal was the salmon sashimi. Ice cold, super fresh, and great flavor.

Started with sushi. It was so good we will go all sushi next time, especially if they have their 3 for the price of 2 deal. This time we ordered noodle dishes and liked these too. We really like this place. The servers are great And the beer list is better than most. The only thing missing was a spam dish. Shouldn't a Hawaiian restaurant have that! The sushi more than makes up for that.

Considering the variety of food on the menu, Oahu seems to do a good job of creating several specialties well. My party got sushi/sashimi, teriyaki, and Thai and we were all pleased with our meals. They did struggle with some of the mixed drink choices which was a little disappointing because they had a great drink menu but then didn't seem to be able to produce. The waitress was very pleasant but extremely shy and soft spoken and we had to repeat things several times/ask 'what was that?' to place our drink, dinner, and appetizer order. Also - not a criticism of the restaurant but the layout of the parking lot/connected strip of stores/varying restaurant entrances is extremely confusing/congested and could definitely be improved. Kind of a barrier to going to any of the restaurants connected there...

When I first drove up to Oahu Hawaiian BBQ & Sushi Bar I almost turned around to look for someplace else to eat. The building is a converted Burger King building so first impressions are not the greatest. I relaxed a bit more after I stepped through the door. Nicely decorated with an equally nice staff. Very friendly staff portraits a very welcome feeling. I opted for Sushi but the Hawaiian BBQ looks like something to try. My Sushi and Sashimi was well above what I would expect in North Dakota!

Everything here is always great! They have very interesting Hawaiian options that you won't find anywhere else in Bismarck. Very friendly staff and good service. Must try the sweet potato fries and chicken kabobs!

Food was ok but nothing to shout about. The servers fingernails were disgustingly dirty/long and the prices are really high for the quantity and type of food.

Fresh sushi oasis. Supposedly everything else is good but I cannot get past filling up with the sushi. The best special is to go at lunch time.

Seriously some of the best pad see ew and pad thai. This place has great food and great service. It really is a must try!

I've been about three times and it's always something. This last time, Saturday, the food was better than before but the timing was way off. One appetizer out...then the second...then soup no one ordered or wanted...then a different table's entrees tried to be presented to us. My entree took so long to come out after my family's meals did that we had to ask for it, and my no-pineapple fried rice came with pineapple. Our waiter stopped asking us if we wanted refills somewhere along the way as well. I'll give them one more chance to make it or break it.

This place would leave Hawaiians and Thais disappointed. The food is generally ok, and service isn't that bad, but this is some kind of PanAsian fusion with an identity crisis, although there's a large variety of adult beverages. Pass on the fried rice, trust me. The desert fruit roll is, SHUT UP! TAKE MY MONEY!, level of good.

My co-worker and I stopped in while going through on business. The service was poor (our server didn't appear too speak fluent English and walked away after we asked questions directly to her....on two different occasions). Hands down the worst part of the meal was the miso soup. My co-worker and I both thought that it seriously tasted like a fish carcass was boiled in the soup. Easily the worst miso soup I've had. I took two spoon fulls and couldn't touch it again. I ordered an extremely overpriced teriyaki chicken dish ($13.95) that was marginal at best. Honestly, I think I make better teriyaki chicken at home. It was just sliced/pan cooked chicken with teriyaki sauce poured over it at the table. It came with a small dish of rice which was the only bright spot of the meal. Next time, I'll go with fast food anywhere - this was very disappointing.

I was too hard on this place before. Came here again, of clear mind and hungry belly, had some hot sake and phat si io and just enjoyed it immensely. Great aromas, wonderful subtle flavors and just what I needed on this cold day.

I have now confirmed they have the best sushi and sashimi in town by conducting two head-to-head (bait-to-bait?) competitions and had a waitress at Kobe's agree with me. Because they are owned by the same people I assume both Kobe's and Ohau get their product delivered at the same time and from the same place, and if so, the management and chefs at Ohau are on their game.

You won't find better Sushi in North Dakota. I love everything on the menu. Speciality rolls are awesome. A great many to choose from. Tony the bartender is excellent and takes care of you. Great customer service.

We love Oahu! Every time the staff is friendly, and service is great. We enjoy the sashimi and the sushi. My friend orders the sashimi pretty much every time we go there he loves it! The Hawaiian food is tasty. I like the green mussel Thai dish. Last time had the sushi the edamame and it was all good. They have a Japanese green sencha type tea that I cannot get enough of! I love going here and could eat here every day if I had the money!

Ok first off im no stranger to Hawaiian food. I was a resident of Oahu for 8 yrs. With that said a lot of this food is just your run of the mill (and tasty) knock offs, with a few exceptions. The sushi is some of the better ive had in ND (aside from Basil). The musabi isn't too shabby either. The Loco Moco was good but they tampered with it too much, it was disassembled, with fried rice, and sparse gravy. The establishment seems to have an identity issue with conflicting decor.

Would like to take a minute to call Bob out on giving those of us from SoCal a bad name... Thanks jerk! Last time I checked we aren't all bitter and illiterate. Obviously Los Angeles has more to offer, obviously they are going to have more variety and mexican food around every corner (because again, last time I checked that's where a majority of Mexican people live compared to Bismarck, my husband being one of them). Get a life dude, either get over it or get out. Rant over Okay I loved this place. You can kind of see where it was once a Burger King but they've really up'd the atmosphere and the service is top notch. I've never drank so much at one sitting. Andrew was our server and he was fantastic. I had a beef plate and it was wonderful (and to be clear Bob I've been to hawaii -even staying with natives- a few times too). Also had some of the non-fish sushi rolls and those were fantastic. How they are owned by Kobe and better than Kobe is not clear but I don't really care to find out. I just love that there is a place close by to get some good "asian" food.

Have been driving by this place for months, decided to give it a try. Glad I did!! Recommend the Tom Yum Soup and Edamame. Both were excellent. On tap beers are great and cold. The bar is stock with all the great alcohols and a very knowledgable bartender. Next time will come in hungry, to try the sushi - looked fresh and yummy.

This place is a diamond in the ruff, best sushi in North Dakota by far. Was given choice to sit where I wanted and decided on the bar. Tony was the bartender/ server for me. Gave me great food options and conversation. All the food was top notch had the spicy tuna roll and Hawaiian BBQ. Service and food was the best I had in Bismarck my only complaint was the bar window needed some binders or something because the sun was shining right in. While defiantly come back.

Very busy restaurant. Friendly staff. Not real impressed with the food. My shrimp was greasy and the batter was not very tasty. My daughter loved her chicken teriyaki. It came to the table sizzling hot. I could tell by the constant crowd this is a local favorite. The California roll was great.

The Korean short ribs are really good. They have a ton of flavor and are juicy. Sushi was a miss, it tasted frozen.

My wife and I ate here for the first time tonite loved the place. We ordered the pad Thai, chicken and shrimp. This is the first time we have seen pad Thai on any menu in Bismarck and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. Excellent presentation and the waiter did a great job. I would highly recommend the Oahu.

I'm going to have to disagree with Bob, which isn't difficult since he gives everything one star then proceeds to trash the people of North Dakota. For the record, I am NOT a native North Dakotan. I've been here about two years, and am most recently from Orlando (grew up in Cleveland but have lived in Atlanta, Miami, DC, to name a few). That said, this place was awesome. I went for dinner last night and had the Oahu king crunchy sushi (something like that). It was delicious!!! Reminded me of a dragon roll I used to get in Atlanta. In fact, it was so good that I went back today with some friends for lunch. I had more sushi, philly roll and kani roll, and picked some BBQ off of two friends plates, also very good!! I will definitely be back!!!!

Bob's clearly a wingnut--this place is quite good, and the people of Bismarck are awesome! He must be hanging with the wrong crowds. I thoroughly enjoyed the specialty rolls at Oahu, particularly the Twister. My only complaint was that the miso had very little tofu and seaweed in it, but otherwise this place is very good--fresh fish, excellent mango sauce, everything I hope for when I look for sushi on the road.

I had the avocado sushi. It was perfect. The nori was placed just rignt and they added just enough sugar to the rice. When i put it in my mouth it was juicy and perfect. I think that Oahu it the best sushi bar in history. I think that Oahu deserves a five star rating

If you like bland food, this is the place for you. I tried the garlic shrimp lunch. It's not a bad lunch portion size: you get 6 breaded shrimp, a side of fried rice, and a side of macaroni salad. But there was no flavor to any of it. At the very least, they could have added some salt. I also tried the spicy tuna roll. Again, no flavor at all, certainly wasn't spicy. And the sushi roll pieces were tiny.

I'm not a huge fan of sushi but my husband is and we both loved the food! It was amazing. The only downsize was there is not a lot of room in the restaurant and if you go in on a Friday or Saturday night its going to be quite a bit of a wait. Great service and great food we will be going back!
