I spent 3 weeks in Helena, MT in 2012 on business. It took me 3 days to hear about this place, then 1 day to decide this is where I will eat the rest of my meals. Their hot foot bar changes daily, there is an awesome salad bar, and of course my favorite....a fresh juice bar. Some of the best salads I've ever had, has been from here. They are also a grocery store, so you can get everything you need in one place. I love my fresh juices and after the first few days, the guys at the juice bar gave me a huge container of juice, so I could keep a days worth in my hotel room The people are so nice and friendly, but that is also Montana. :) .

One of the best health food groceries I visited. Pricing is pretty fair, and the service is very nice. Wide selection of cold and hot items (yup, they even have a small deli inside). I would definitely visit again

The deli here is the most fresh and delicious organic food you will find in Helena, I promise you: I have been coming to Helena for 3 years, weekly, for business, and this is the best food you will find, if you are searching for healthy vegan fare. Their salad bar is top notch and always offers a vegan soup and tofu in a tasty way. If the salad bar lacks something, you can always grab some fresh produce or other tasty food to tickle your fancy. Highly recommended. I come her for lunch and dinner, same day, all the time.

They generally have interesting choices, but invariably the food is overlooked, particularly the chicken

On the plus side, they are the only place in town with an extensive bulk food selection, and their customer service has improved marginally. Other than that, I can't think of many reasons to like this place. The buffet foods are alternately too dry or too soggy, and always bland... I don't think the whole grain selection stands up well to the warming table treatment. Price-gouging is rampant, even compared to other organic food stores-they don't seem to have realized that cheaper competition has moved into town. I also agree with another reviewer that they always seem to be out of basic staple foods and spices. Any other town and this place would die a slow death, but it will probably hang to enough loyal-to-a-fault customers to keep going.

I am a loyal customer to this place. They have always been eager to help and when I have wanted products that they don't normally carry they have got right on it and ordered them for me. The Deli is amazing. I will continue to go here for all of my Healthy needs and wants. Thank you Real Foods for Providing Helena with Healthy quality products!!!

I consistently am disappointed with real foods. Up until recently it was that they are constantly out of basic items like milk, flour, our brand of coffee but recently I was aghast at their customer service. A box of blueberries fell out of my cart and of course I picked them all up off the floor and intended to still buy them... I stood up and two of the employees were just standing there staring at me, with no offer to help. Couldn't believe it. Will never shop there again.

One of the best restaurants in Helena. Healthy (as far as I know) but also so Yummy!!! You know... They're not usually compatible ;))

This is a review for the deli, where I recently ate lunch. I ordered a soup (beef and barley) which was completely bland and tasteless, and a small pasta salad, which was soggy and had way too much vinegar in it. The salad bar looked nice, but their prices seem very high. I won't be going back.

Very nice place- I rate it 4 and a half stars- clean aisles, eating area, and restrooms- Mostly friendly and helpful staff- (there's a few that seem to have an "upscale" attitude, if you know what I mean- there's been more than one time where I had to wait for a checker to begin because she was chatting with another employee about non-business related matters- if you're in a hurry, it can be a bit frustrating, so I knock off half a star for that) Otherwise: unique selection of groceries not available anywhere else in town, and the deli is very good to excellent- some of the deli dishes are an acquired taste, so if you're used to standard restaurant fare, this may take some getting used to. They also have some homemade items wrapped and ready to grab-and-go. Good homemade cookies, and a nice selection of coffees that you fill yourself so you don't have to wait in line whilst a barista makes a mucho-mongo-mocho-la-tee-da-latte for someone else- the price is right, and you get one free refill good for the rest of the day, so save your cup if you think you might be passing through the neighborhood later on! In general prices are on the higher side, but they have great sales that run all month, so stock up on non-perishables when the price drops. They're always willing to try new products, so if what you want is not on the shelf, they'll try to order it. They also mark the shelves when an item is new, so the new goods stand out and you don't have to spend all day perusing the aisles. Glad this place is in town! -------------------------- Just an update in response to some that have experienced poor service: I shop here a lot, and I notice a frequent influx of new hires, some of which this is evidently their first job- I agree that the service can sometimes be lacking- it would be nice if the management would train new hires in customer relations and etiquette in addition to general job skills- having said that, I've also noticed, not just here but anywhere, that if I as a customer put a smile on and happily greet the work staff, I'll get the same in return. (Smiles seem to be getting in short supply anymore!)

I love this place. They have the best deli sandwiches in town! Definitely the place to go if you're looking for a Whole Foods/Coop type store.

Wow I'm in love with this place. I finally found Helena's culture! You can't buy any ethnic foods in restaurants in Helena but this place gives you any ingredient you could ever ask for to make your own! Being from CA I have been searching and searching for food with flavor (a little spice never hurt anyone). I was so happy to find this place. I went because I was looking for quinoa and safeway didn't have it. This place has like 2 whole isles of bin bulk food, like any nut, seed, grain, flour you name it. They have jar your own peanut butter and even honey too! The coolest thing I think though was that they have a spice bar. You can get any spice you want by weight. They also have anything you could need to make sushi or Indian food, or really anything. I was really impressed. Also, if you have celiac they label everything that is Gluten free in there bin items. They also have a large selection of gluten free products like chocolate cake and pizza dough. The prices were on the high side though but I noticed they had good sales. I did not try any of their ready made or to order food so I can't rate that.

This is like a Whole Foods. I think they were around before Whole Foods. Expensive like their compition but seems more local...
