Wow! What a difference three years makes! I gave it another shot for a business meal after having bad experiences in the past I was overwhelmed at how great our meal was. From the outstanding service and friendliness of the staff to an absolutely wonderful 3 Jumbo Prawns, BBQ Style ( YUM! ) w/ a spaghetti side! My dream combo of food! And both were outstanding. And three shrimp were plenty! I was stuffed afterwards. A member of our group ordered the Halibut and Chips (which I thought were too high priced until I tasted the fish) and oh man was that bite of fish pure heaven! Everyone at our table loved their meal and we were glad to arrive just as they were opening because as we left, people were stacked everywhere trying to get in. One of my pet peeves when dining out are filthy restrooms and these were impeccable. Kudos Windmill! I can't wait to go back and take my family!

Great food!! We chose the Windmill due to restaurant intimacy and ability to have conversation we could hear!!! Nope, music SO LOUD from the bar we couldn't hear each other or think straight. We asked the waitress if they could turn it down. This wasn't an unusual request for her to hear as she said I will ask them again!!! Come on guys are you serving your employee desires or customers!!! We won't be back unless we want to head bang!!!

Had the Mill Burger and it was divine! Prompt service, warm and friendly service and a fantastic atmosphere, love the outdoor dining patio next to the river. My only complaint was the hostess/manager seems incompetent and rude, but otherwise perfect.

Love the breaded prawns, they are Awesome & juicy. The staff is very friendly. The onion rings are to die for you get a heaping plate full.

Went here for a business dinner. The walnut crusted halibut was amazing! The pre dinner cocktail, Moscow Mule (they have about 10 different flavors) was also great. Service was excellent and our waitress Shirley's beautiful singing voice certainly added to the experience!!

5 stars for more reasons than just the food and drink. You can tell that the people that work at this place truly care about it by way of totally taking care of the guest. In all my travels I have never had a bartender (server) as good as Miguel. I learned here that while in Montana ask and everyone is so nice and does their best to accommodate you. Miguel custom made me a beverage (since I was tired of usual beverage), prime rib was one of the best I have had. I strongly recommend this place. Was going to go to Rex but I am 100% glad I did not.

Waitress Denise was outstanding. Restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was real nice. These are the primary reasons for the high rating. That and most of the food was real good. I had the ribeye and it was not good. Quality of the cut was poor. Not juicy and it seemed like my steak was boiled in water rather than cooked at a high heat. This is the one meal I order everywhere I go and I probably won't be back until I hear they change this.

Ambience: A++++ Service: Very friendly, but not intrusive, waitress Bathroom Cleanliness: Unimpeachable I would have liked to have given windmill more stars, because of the above, but when it comes right down to it the food was not speaking to me at a more than 3 stars level. My greens were very white and sad. All the toppings that the menu promised for my salad were not on my salad. There was a truly frightening mound of blue cheese on its side, and I LOVE blue cheese so it takes a lot to frighten me. It was served with a mysterious side of plain white toast with a strange herb butter. The chicken was seared and dry. I took a bite of my sister's pulled pork sandwich, which was MUCH better. Maybe I should have stuck with a meat-centric entree! Even though I didn't love my dish, I think I would go back: The menu was large and the tastiness of the pulled pork is promising. It's so restful inside that it would be worth it to go back for another lunch and try another dish.

Solid steak. Atmosphere was ok. Pricey for what it was. For some reason every restaurant in Montana has a waterfall it seems....weird.

Dined here on a snowy(ish) Thursday night. It's a gorgeous building, nice big fireplace. Plenty of seating, and we opted for a nice comfortable booth. The waitstaff was great, and the food (for the most part - again, it's all relative here in Billings) was fabulous. The crab and cream cheese wontons were yum!, and good presentation to them, too. My boyfriend's filet mignon and shrimp - excellent. I ordered the king crab legs, and they were mighty tasty. Only negative - the broccoli was oversalted. Have to admit: I was a bit mystified as to why the fire pit was blazing away when it was snowing out.

I have been going to the Windmill my whole life...mostly for special occasions. I always order the ribs and prawns. I do miss the dark, cramped old location with its one-of-a-kind womens' restroom where you had to cross through one stall to get into the other. (Yes..it was odd.) The new location is beautiful, but has caused the prices to rise significantly. That just means I don't get there as often, but when I get my rib & prawn craving I'm there. They also have a very convenient take-out option where they'll bring the food out to your car.

Well prepared grilled steaks with good flavor and nicely prepared seafood. Top spot in town for both.

Loud and echoey as a school cafeteria and the food isn't much better either. While the waitresses run their butts off, there is but far too few of them and you will wait.. oh boy will you wait. Pretty popular though with the older folks in Billings.

Best place for a special night out. Price is high but worth every penny. Service is astounding, had server named Shirley. Attentive and kind, fast but not obnoxious. The steak was perfect, and my date's fish was divine. Beautiful high ceiling, but it's still intimate. Love the atmosphere because it's open and you aren't trying to talk over other guests' conversations, etc. Have a drink by the firepit outside. Want a waterfall like theirs in my living room!

My family and I went to The Windmill to celebrate a special occasion expecting great things based upon recommendations from friends. We were sorely disappointed, however. Atmosphere One thing the Windmill has going for it is the atmosphere. Tall ceilings with large, wooden rafters, a grey stone fireplace, and an outdoor patio with fire contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. Service We arrived to the restaurant around 7:20. Our waitress did not come by to take our drink order until about 20 minutes later. Then, the drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive. Ok, a bit slow at first, but it will pick up, right? No. We ordered our meal when our drinks arrived and it didn't make it to the table until 8:50 - an hour and a half after we arrived. Our waitress later apologized for the slow service, claiming that we arrived when they were absolutely "slammed", which was hard to believe given the fact that the place was never more than half full the whole night. Food Bottom line: not worth the wait. The rack of ribs was enjoyable, save for the plastic platter on which it was served (not exactly what you expect for a $26 plate). My wife rated the sauteed prawns she ordered about a 5 out of 10. Like many American establishments these days, however, the lack of quality was compensated by an abundance of quantity. So if that's your thing, enjoy. Overall, a very unsatisfying experience. If you're looking for a nice night out in Billings, go to Walkers Grill downtown. You'll pay less, the atmosphere is better, and the food is far superior.
