I was planning a date and wanted to try something new in Billings. Italian is always great so that narrowed the options. I read mixed reviews and decided I'd plunge in. I was not disappointed! The waitress was very friendly, the kitchen is next to a bar so you can see cleanliness and the process of your order, I thoroughly enjoyed Sinatra playing as well as a mix of other music, plus the price was reasonable. I ordered the manicotti and my boyfriend ordered the spaghetti. I expected a longer wait based on reviews but was impressed to have my meal within 20 minutes. The marinara was unbelievable! Neither of us could finish our plates especially with the fresh bread. I definitely will return, this time I must try dessert.

I have been here several times now and have never received good service, the wait staff is always snobby. Our food was cold and the hospitality poor. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Stopped over in Billings on cross country trip. It was the wife's birthday and she was looking for nice Italian dinner. Looking at reviews it appeared that food got high ratings but a few people were upset with noise and service. All I can say is food was fantastic and staff was excellent. I think some people should stay home and live there negative lives. From now on we will focus on positive reviews and ignore the negative people comments in Yelp.

Amazaballs!! Some of the best Italian I've ever had! Had the manicotti and it was awesome! They also customized a special dish for a person at my table! Something that isn't seen at most restaurants! Best service we've had in billings

Having recently moved here from Phoenix I've been trying to replicate the food I left behind. After weeks of trying with limited success I happened upon Ciao Mambo. I was so surprised to find this adorable gem! Good wine list, fresh ingredients and great sauce. I had penne ala vodka YUM! I was stuffed to the gills and will definitely be back!

I have been here several times. This place serves my favorite dish Pasta Revenna. Love it so much. So as for the food, I would give it a 5. Last night we went for my birthday. We walk in, my husband and I with a sleeping baby in a carseat. The lady says Oh! We will put you in a secluded quiet spot! Then another lady comes up. They are whispering, the other lady sits us. Right smack in the middle of the loudest part of the whole stupid restaurant! I kid you not, I have been in bars and crazy parties quieter than that!!!! The table behind us has 6 of the loudest people I have ever heard in my whole life. Now I am not angry with the crazy loud people ALL around us. They were having a good time. But what possessed that server lady to put us there instead of a quiet spot? Well probably my SLEEPING baby! This just makes me angry. He miraculously slept the whole time. But so much for a romantic birthday dinner with my husband. We couldn't even talk we had to yell to hear each other. I am so mad that I am not sure I will go back.....

Best Italian restaurant the food melts in your mouth. The service is excellent and the setting is romantic. They have the best raspberry cheese cake. Me and my husband have been here twice one of my favorite spots.

The service was sorely lacking & we were seated next to the wait station, forcing us to endure the entire wait staff talking about their tables, other servers, etc. The music was so loud everyone in the restaurant had to practically shout to be heard. For starters, we ordered the calamari as an appetizer, disgusting. It was tough, rubbery, and lacking in flavor. When our entrees finally arrived, they too were less than palatable. The lasagna was burned and the pesto was almost as flavorless as the calamari. We were very disappointed. If you like bland, over-Americanized, "Italian" food, then you might enjoy this place. Otherwise, avoid it.

Great food. Very noisy, if I eat here again I would ask to sit in the back of the restaurant. I felt like I was yelling when having a conversation with other members of our party. Service could have been better. We had to keep flagging the waitress down for drink refills and she failed to check on us.

Wellllll - it's a nice little addition to the Montana Avenue restaurant scene. Good atmosphere, although the alternation of bar tables and regular tables was a bit weird. Waitstaff attentive. The food wasn't much to write home about, unfortunately. Calamari was overbreaded. Spinach salad was all right. The pasta ravenna was a bit flavorless. But my linguini with clams white sauce was fairly tasty. We're not writing it off, though - probably try again in a couple months or so.

The food was very good here. I would definitely go back again. The only thing I didn't care for, was that we had several different girls as our servers and two of them were wearing shorts. It just seemed inappropriate and created a lower class ambiance. This place could have a classy feel if the girls had mandatory uniform attire and didn't just wear what ever black and white cloths they own.

I Gave it a shot. Still hungover from a culinary your of #Sicily, I was desperate to find a comparable #Sicilian meal in the #USA. I was promptly seated on a 1 topper next to the greeter's station one Sat nite in #Billings #MT. The staff was friendly, even Amanda. The table wobbled but after 2 glasses of white (IT/Tuscan), it didn't matter. The 2nd glass was nicer & chilled -- no idea why. I ordered the calamari -- it was over breaded & soaked in grease. I had to ask for lemon which came quick. The marinara sauce was weak; it was heavy in tomato sauce but weak in paste to hold it together. Flavorless. I ordered the Gambieri fra diavola over linguini for the main course. It was nicely spicy w 6 frozen shrimp. Once again, weak watery marinara. The place was extremely NOISY!!! As in #ChuckeeCheeseNoisy. In the end, I spotted #cannoli on the dessert menu & I went for it. What? No coffee? Only served drip coffee. Weak! But what kinda #Italian ristorante doesn't have Cappuccino or espresso? Overall, the menu was respectable. Good selection of IT/US wines -- none from Sicily though; a lot came from Tuscany. About the 2 cannolis: they were presented nicely. The shells were rather thick and ricotta only at the ends. Overall, Ciao Mambo gets a pass. See for yourself. #TTOT #TTOR #Foodie #FoodNation #FineWines

This place is ridiculous. How do you offer a gift certificate through restaurant.com and not honor it because you didn't provide a printed version. Nowhere in the terms and conditions does it say you need a printed version, the mobile version should be just fine! I went there only because I had this certificate and they couldn't help us and TURNED US AWAY! I called restaurant.com because that's ridiculous and they agreed that restaurants are not allowed to turn customers away for having the online certificate. Complete waste of my time!

I was in last night with my family to enjoy a night out and we had a good time. We come in every so often and I always enjoy the atmosphere and the food is always good but that is not why I am giving you 5 stars. Every time I am in there, you have an employee who clearly loves her job, she is always smiling and engaging in conversation with your guests and makes sure they are well taken care of. I pay a lot of attention to restaurants and their staff and this employee, Brianna, always is working hard, harder than most I've seen in any restaurant I've been to or worked in. If she is not a manager I do think y'all should look into making her one! She appears to have the drive to be one and any business would be lucky to have an employee like her. Her spirit and love for her job and making sure everybody is having a good time every time I am in there is the reason I am giving you a 5 star rating. I hope you share this with her and recognize the great employee you have!

The food isn't bad here but the place is always excessively noisy even when there aren't that many people there. Make a reservation for a large group and you'll find that they don't have a room for you ... you'll be out there with the mob and the noise will REALLY be bad.

I absolutely love this place! Our server was amazing. I had my bridal dinner here and it was the best time! Great food and good prices for the amount you get :)

So, this place is fairly good. I think I'd like it better had I ordered something different. A bonus? They give you crayons to draw on the table covers. LOL. Don't let that fool you though - the inside is very upscale and has a lot of ambiance. It is NOT a kid friendly establishment, meaning its not a cafeteria type place - despite the paper table covers and crayons (which was quite fun, btw). My date ordered lasagna, which is made to order. The waitress warned us that it would take longer for this reason. I don't think it took too long, and it was delicious when he got it, I ordered ravioli, which I believe were NOT homemade and lacked a lot of flavor. The sauce was pretty good. I probably wouldn't get the ravioli again, but we will definitely visit here again.

Pretty great Italian food. The bread is amazing, some of the best I've had. Crunchy crust with big chunks of garlic on top, along with Parmesan cheese. I tried the Tootsie Roll appetizer. I was eating alone, and they very kindly add me a half portion. It was pretty good, though I was expecting more pesto. Also I'd recommend getting the marinara on the side because they set it on top and it gets a bit soggy. House salad was decent, spring mix lettuce. Had huge mushrooms, olives, and cucumbers in it, but they were also all large enough to pick out of you didn't like any of them. I also had the pasta Ravenna (bow tie pasta with chicken, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes). The sauce was "garlic cream sauce", but it was part cream sauce and part red sauce, which I wouldn't have gotten from the description. It was delicious. Also a large portion, I couldn't finish it all. Wine list was fairly extensive, with several items by the glass. Too full to try dessert. I'd definitely eat here again and recommend to a friend.

Charming yet upscale, Ciao Bella, gave us fabulous service and tasty food. Crusty bread was great accompaniment to our pasta choices. The menu is a la carte. The pasta Lubella had a rich cream sauce that was not as bland as other eateries so I was pleased. Prosciutto and vegetables were tiny, but flavorful. Our waitress was helpful and playful without being intrusive. Nice variety of wines plus a variety of local beers. Next time I will try the dessert I saw others order-some type of sweet bread pieces served in a cone with skewers and chocolate dipping sauces.

Without a doubt, one of the very best Italian restaurants. The best meatballs ever. A super place. Don't miss it.

So happy I gave this place a try. Food isn't the " to die for " Italian at pricey joints but it is pretty dang good and well priced. What I was most impressed with was the service I received. Very attentive. If my server was busy, there was always another ready to pick up my plate, bring me the entree or fill my glass. I watched as the chefs prepared fresh pizzas and if things didn't turn out just right they tossed it and started over. I would come here again and again. What a little gem here in Billings!

EXCEPTIONAL! This is our favorite restaurant in Eastern Montana! My husband, being raised in an Italian family, finds this food as close to his Nona's cooking as ever! We have been here 5 times and always request the same server, Cierra. As a former restaurant manager, when you find good service you keep it. My husband loves the amount of garlic on the bread. He says if you don't walk away with garlic burps then it wasn't made right! Every single pasta dish he's tried he's raved about. My pizza crust is the perfect Neapolitan style and it was so yummy! We end our visits ALWAYS with a piece of amazing cheesecake with huckleberry sauce. It's not a menu option but we can't live in Montana without huckleberry! Love this place and can't wait to return!

The environment is too noisy. Our server agreed that numerous complaints are given about the noise level. The food is over priced for the environment. Antipasti of cheeses and meats was very good but I won't be coming back due to the noise level. Draperies need to be added to the walls for sound reduction. Cushions on the chairs and benches would help. Even sound dampening materials could be added to the tall ceiling.

Went with a group of 7. Sat at a tall table where we had appetizers and cocktails then ordered dinner. The Chicken was delicious, but can't figure out why they served it with potatoes. ? The zeppoles were as hard as a rock and who dips them in sauces? It was a fun evening but the food was just ok.

Totally NOT impressed. Like, totally. I think I fell into 1983 when Julie from Valley Girl says: Like, it's all this stuff that tastes like nothing and it's supposed to be so good for you. Why couldn't they, like, open a Pizza Hut or something? We called ahead to make a reservation since there were 7 of us. "Oh, we only, like take reservations for parties of 8 or more. But it's not busy so the wait shouldn't be long." We get down there and of course, there is a 45-minute wait. But my pansy brother wanted to eat there so we went and had a drink nearby while we waited. The aroma from our garlic bread appetizers has probably killed vampires three countries away. I couldn't wash the stench off me for days (one star for keeping vampires away from me). My caprese was not impressive. The tomatoes were quite flavorless. Like, no flavor. My main course was the Gamberi al Burro e Limone (Shrimp scampi, roasted peppers and linguini tossed in a lemon herb butter broth). I will give them one star for that. It had a nice flavor but it didn't knock my socks off. Like, our server was all like taking forever to refill beverages. You'd think if my parents ordered three bottles of (very good) wine a server would actually make a point to ensure they had enough glasses. My mom was drinking out of her water glass like she was drinking boxed wine or something. Tip it, mom!! A $300 bill for dinner in Billings should get better service than this. $60 for a tip (which my dad was gracious enough to leave because I would've left her $10 and a nasty note) was not worth the gum-chomping, hair-in-her-eyes server. Like hire some real servers.

I always get excited when I come home to Billings and there's a new restaurant to try! The garlic bread that they bring right away is amazing. VERY garlicky, but so delicious. We also got calamari...it was average. Good, not great. I enjoyed my dinner here a lot! Had the penne with vodka sauce and chicken....delicious! Very fresh and yummy. Portions are HUGE. Had a lot to take home. Definitely worth trying!! I enjoyed my experience here.

This was my first restaurant experience in Billings, recommended to me by the woman who runs the bead shop a few blocks away. They started me off with a diet soda and a chunk of their (hopefully) homemade garlic bread. SO GOOD. Ask for a knife with it. I started out with their Bocconcini Fritti (fried mozzarella balls in spicy maranara sauce). The dish had such potential, but they missed one major thing. Setting crispy food in maranara sauce makes for soggy food. If I went again I'd ask for the sauce to be on the side as a dipping sauce instead of a crispy-killer. Great flavors though. My main dish was the basic Spaghetti and Meatballs. I was already stuffed at this point so I didn't enjoy it as much as I may have otherwise. The meatballs were great. They put too much pasta sauce on the linguini noodles. I would've prefered something like Angel Hair pasta. Ambience is really nice. I was in jeans and a hoodie and only felt slightly underdressed. Lights are down low in most of the diningroom. You can also sit while watching the chefs. I'd give them a 3.5 if it was possible. Not quite a 4 but 3 seems too low. I'd give them a second chance. Appetizer + Pasta + Soda + Tip = $29.

For our area, I think this is a great Italian restaurant. I had the Frutti de Mare, & it was superb! I ordered the sauce spicy, and the heat was just right. The favors were incredible, the service was very good, our food arrived quickly, and the prices reasonable.

I was pretty excited when they opened that we had our first fine Italian dining spot. The decor is quite nice but the service is slow and the food is not even as good as Olive Garden which is odd since unlike the garden they actually make it there. If you don't get your expectations too high.. you wont be too disappointed.. Also.. they so ripped off the writing upside down on the table in crayon thing from Macaroni Grill.

Ate dinner here a few weeks ago with my 3 sisters-in-law. We all loved it! Garlic bread was great and my spicy spaghetti was fantastic. The other 3 girls loved their meals as well. The atmosphere was loud and fun. Ended the night with Zeppolis for dessert. They are like little doughnuts and came with fudge, caramel, and rasberry dipping sauces. Wow! All 4 of us agreed that we will be coming again and bringing the husbands next time.

the atmosphere is nice. You can see in the kitchen which is just like macaroni grill and write on the tables. Yay not! ....... We were sat in a back room, which started the meal off depressing. Our waitress was nice. We ordered a bottle of wine and wanted to relax and enjoy it. But our waitress kept asking if we were ready to order and so we did and expected to maybe have an extra 20 min or so. NOT our food came out within 5-7 min, not joking, It did not taste good or look good. The noodles are not handmade I was expecting better. if we wanted fast food we would have not gone to a restaurant. Terrible terrible. Also very overpriced! just for me and splitting the bottle of wine was 40$ what a rip! Go to Cafe italia- FRESH PASTA!

This was the first resteraunt that my fiancé and I went to getting into Billings. Walked in and first site of the main entrance seeing all the "stars" that had been here before us, leaving their photo behind was very cool! Then meeting our waitress and her giving us the knowlage of the specials, what her favorite was and just making us feel very comfortable with ordering was so nice, felt like we had been to Ciao Mambo's before. Then our food came and yeah! Very well displayed the presentation of food beautiful! Our waitress was on top of any drinks need more bread for our bread basket all in all making sure we were having a great time. We will be returning to Ciao Mambo's!

You will love this place. There is *a lot* of garlic in the dishes. The eggplant parmigiana was very good. If you go, though, do not sit at the 'high top' tables - they are barely big enough for two people and their plates.

Our family has tried to eat here a couple of times when in town. Mysteriously each time they were closed on a random night. We forged ahead this time, called to make sure someone was there and showed up. Glad we did. The service was super and we made sure our waitress knew it. The food was really good, hot and flavorful. Just a word, do not leave without ordering the pillow puffs of powdered sugar what-ever-they-are-called desert. There are three dipping sauces to choose from and oddly enough they charge extra if you order all three - but go for it! These things are yummy.

Yummy yummo says it all. Excellent food and service. Had a group of 12, and we all tried just about everything. Eggplant Parmesan was one of the best I've ever had. Many people in our group enjoyed the Fettuccini alla Rustica (Shrimp, grilled chicken, prosciutto and peas in aged parmesan cream sauce). Calamari was the weakest link, but not bad (just good, not great). The bread is wonderful. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.

My wife and I have had numerous meals here and at the Missoula store and their flagship store Mambo Italiano in Kalispell, Mt. Never a bad meal and we have had at least two dozen feasts over 7 years at the three. Good service, good atmosphere and excellent desserts.

Food was ok, service was excellent. Ordered calamari as an app and received maybe 15 pieces, pretty weak. Pizza was good and so was garlic bread. Ask for Christene as a server.

Didn't know where to eat but Ciao Mambo's had the highest ranking italian restaurant in Billings so we gave it a try. There was quite a line but the food was definitely worth the wait and the atmosphere was awesome. Loved the canvas wraps of glasses of wine all over the place. As we left, my wife mentioned that she never thinks of Billings as a city but this restaurant made her feel as if she was in one. Highly recommended.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
