This is my go-to place for Sushi in the Billings area! I have to say that they make THE BEST Seaweed Salad I've ever had bar none. The sushi is fantastic, always fresh, and beautifully presented. You MUST try one of their rolls that comes with the honey wasabi sauce...or just ask for a side of it to have with another roll or sashimi. It is delish! Atmosphere is nice, they make some slammin' cocktails at the bar, and I have thus far have had good service even when they are really busy. Don't hesitate-check it out and enjoy!

The sushi was really good and I had the King Crab Ginger dish which was mediocre at best. But for being in the middle of Montana, the sushi was really good and the servers were friendly.

Yeah, not so much. I haven't gone to the hibachi side but I've gone sushi side twice. The calamari was pretty good both times. The sushi was just ok the first time, but the second time it made both of us sick. Strange considering how busy it was...but then I guess that's what you get when you use minute rice for sushi rolls. The wait staff was pretty unsociable both times as well. Maybe Billings just isn't a sushi place? In short, definitely not worth the time or the money.

This is a tough one for me... Spending the night in Billings and was seeking delivery. Called and had to repeat my order close to four times, in addition to repeating my address/phone number/room number/credit card number multiple times. I was quoted 45 minutes for delivery - which seemed long, but I was in no rush. I had to call back after an hour to check on my order, only to be told "the driver has been to the room two times and nobody was there." After repeating my room number multiple times, they had the wrong number down. And then promised to "be there in five minutes." At this point, I am assuming that my order was not made again for it to be fresh, so there's that... Based on the delivery/ordering experience alone, I cannot recommend this place. However, once the food arrived the delivery man nice enough and apologized for the inconvenience.

Holy cow is this sushi good! Some of the best I've had! We had the slider rolls, California rolls, and lobster tempura rolls. Great atmosphere, very good customer service too- they don't stalk you but are mindful of when drinks get low or dishes are empty. Damn good food for the price too.

Unexpected gem. I usually have low expectations for restaurants in strip malls and even more hesitant towards sushi restaurants in strip malls but yelp recommended it so we gave it a go. It was delicious and fresh and the service was amazing!

I love eating here. The waitress is always a delight and the majority of the rolls I really enjoy. I have not eaten on the hibachi side and don't really care to. The last 2 times I have eaten I ordered yellowtail tuna, 1 was sashimi the other a roll. Both times I was unpleasantly surprised by a bone. I have eaten a number of rolls here and it is unusual because every other roll I have eaten is very good. I enjoy a more traditional Japanese food and they really do a good job of that, rather than some of the hyped up trendy sushi restaurants that are common. The happy hour is a really good deal and I will usually plan around the happy hour when I eat there.

Did take out tonight. Took about twenty minutes, long enough to enjoy a soho lemon drop martini. The drink was just right not too sweet with enough lemon to be nicely balanced. I'd have it again and again. Had mango chicken tempora, it was fine. Nothing to rave over but I can't complain either. Had miso and brown rice both meet standards of most Asian cuisine. Order seafood fried rice, I wouldn't order it again. The scallops and shrimp were overlooked to the point of rubbery and rice was steamed more than fried. It obviously sat in a bulk warming tray and not made to order or even refried before dishing. I wouldn't recommend it, maybe the other fried rices are better. Possible the seafood in other dishes are prepared with the integrity of the seafood not being diminished. All and all it has a nice atmosphere and the bar is great. I'll try it again next time I'm in town.

A surprisingly good experience at the hibachi grill. Great service and good food. We were very early (5pm) on Thursday and called ahead. We were a party of 2 and seated immediately with another group. The waitress was taking their drink orders and took ours also. The waitress was attentive. The soup was standard miso. The grill chef was funny and low key and entertaining. The fried rice and noodles were good. I was impressed by the veggies - very good. We had the filet minion which was excellent. A recommended upgrade instead of the steak. I have been to other hibachi grill restaurants and this one is the best I have been to in years.

The food was good however, my phone was taken. My fiancé and I were the only 2 in there on Labor Day, which makes me believe it was internal theft. It takes an average of ten minutes for a hot sake to reach your table once ordered. It's microwaved.... Maybe upgrade to a machine? Our server was very slow. Twice was too much of a visit.

Spending the night in Billings before heading out for an international trip, I decided to order delivery. Placing my order over the phone was simple. The delivery man was extremely professional and arrived promptly with piping hot food. Included in my package, in addition to my food order, were sturdy paper plates, cutlery, napkins, and condiments. This was nice, since I was staying in a hotel. The best part of my meal was the lettuce wrap appetizer. They give a generous portion of iceberg lettuce and the chicken filling was delicious! I was smacking my lips and oooohhhing and aaaahhhing. I also tried some chicken and corn soup. The flavor was good, but it was a bit too gelatinous in texture for my liking. For my main entree, I was enticed by other Yelp reviews to try the General Tso's Chicken. Usually I prefer stir fries with lots of vegetables as opposed to deep fried Chinese dishes. I wish I had stuck to my usual preference. The sauce was good, not too sweet with a nice amount of kick, but the breading was too heavy for me and the chicken pieces were greasy.

My husband and I have tried this restaurant several times. Each time, the sushi has been dry and falling apart and the service has been bad. The most recent visit, we came in about 45 minutes before closing. We stood in the waiting area for several minutes before anyone spoke to us, even though there were two waiters having a conversation right in front of us. When the waitress came to seat us, she seemed peeved that we were there and consistently reminded us that they were closing soon, both when we came in and after we were seated. We ate our mediocre sushi and left well before closing. I don't think they'll need to worry about us keeping them past closing again.

Great service and really fresh sashimi. Pretty impressive for Montana. Would love to try the rest of their menu items if I had the chance. I could only assume their sushi is as good.

  • Polly B.

A great waitress really made this meal, a good martini, & really good sashimi! It's worth it to order the 16 piece sashimi plate compared to ordering a la carte. It sounds like a lot but I was almost able to finish it by myself along with a rather large seaweed salad. My only complaints are that my seaweed salad was not cold due to a hot plate, and a kind of dirty plate appeared at one point... It wasn't a big deal because everything else in sight was clean, even our view through the kitchen doors. I would normally have made a bigger spat about it... We first stopped at Fancy Sushi-- another sushi restaurant in town-- but after not even being acknowledged after waiting at the door for 5-6 minutes (just enough to observe food and trash all over the floor and finger prints all over the tables...) we came here as the backup option. Glad we did!

When I went to this place they were a little busy. The 6 of us had a great time. The only gripe that I have is the kids menu was very limited and the wait staff that we had seemed to be a little frazzled. The prices were about what I expected. There was a good selection of sake... And a large selection of sushi. Even if it was a little bland. I'll come back again... But my hopes will not be so high. I'll hold back the fourth star till I try again.

Although the food was excellent the service left a lot to be desired. We here on the hibachi side with a full seating. No drinks or waitress for some time. Finally brought a full tray of water and dumped it right in front of me. Brief apology from manager and someone gave me a nonabsorbing napkin to sop up 8 glasses of water dumped on me. Hard to enjoy food when you are soaking wet. Gave us 20% off bill.

The fish doesn't look very fresh at the sushi bar so I was a little frightened. Tasted pretty good but reminded me a little of grocery-store sushi. Very slow service!!! Not much else to say here. Hard to give 3 stars when the noodles were good and the fish tasted okay, but Sushi is usually fantastic, so if it's not fantastic and it's sushi there's something wrong.

  • Rick G.

The food was excellent. The lettuce wraps were great. Happy to find a good sushi place in billings. I will eat here again on my next business trip.

The hibatchi grill is AMAZING!!! The food is so delicious, perfectly cooked, and they know how to prepare special requests including vegetarian dishes. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the wine & sake. If you can, request Andrew as your chef, he is HILARIOUS and a wonderful chef! You definitely get your money's worth & then some!

  • Randi N.

My man and I have eaten here a few times and enjoy it very much! We are actually skeptical to try some place new. I have maybe been disappointed with one or two rolls out of like 20. If you go for lunch there is one waitress who is the best and keeps it interesting, wish I could remember her name. My man and I moved her from Huntington Beach California and we thought for sure sushi out here couldn't compare. No offense to this restaurant, it doesn't but it sure did exceed our expectations!

  • Buzz G.

I sat in the bar area, sushi rolls were ordered and they came out quick and enjoyable. Bartender was the reason this place did not receive a 5 star. Racist remarks, drinking on the job, didn't help his case. I was not impressed.

  • Bud F.

I ate at the Asian Grill a second time and ate in the dining room. Same hibachi grill menu only it is cooked in the kitchen. It was still very good. The steak is tender and flavorful, the scallops are the best and cooked perfectly. My wife loves the sea weed salad.

  • Amanda L.

Absolutely terrible! Serving sucks! Barely came to our table and check on us... Wouldn't even feel disappointed if the food is good. Have not tried their sushi yet, but that grill was absolutely the worst i've ever had! Steak wasn't even tasted fresh...and it was over cooked, veggies were raw...never gonna go back to the place again!

It's great that Billings, MT has hibachi grill but the food is not as great as I wanted it to be. Our portions were small at the grill and the wait can be very long (even with reservations). Suggest requesting the tables in the grill area but not at the grill itself - faster seating and more food if you don't need the show.

  • Matt K.

Always have a good time here. Bit pricey but sushi rolls require skill so it's worth it. The atmosphere is very sheik. Don't feel like you are in billings, if you are local. They just added a Hibachi bar so it has all the flare you would want in a stylish sushi bar. Enjoy!

    (5)
  • Bruce B.

Very fresh and well presented sashimi and sushi. Tad expensive but this is far from everything I would expect it would be. The chef is Chinese and prepares sushi traditional Japanese style.

Excellent sushi. Great selection and delicious food. Attentive service. Fair prices. If we lived closer we'd be regulars!

  • Susan R.

The hibachi rice on the sushi bar side is premade and horrid!!! The scallops were great, salad good but have to specify the creamy dressing, and the vegs can be good...depends how you like them..I like them but sometimes it is a bunch of undercooked onion slices. The appetizer shrimp were cold..so all in all..will NOT be back. Oh and the suggestion to sit on the "entertainment side" is a joke...you feel like you are in a brothel .......yeah...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great sushi plan on about $25-35ea if you want to fill your self up. But it is worth it good miso soup as well.

For those traveling through Billings, this restaurant is located off Exit 446 on I90, turn north and look for Texas Roadhouse (Asian Sea is across the street in a mini-mall) Lunch special: Three different Sushi rolls for $16. Too much money? Hardly!!! This single lunch special feeds two easy and if you throw in the soup that comes with the meal, depending on how hungry the group is, this special could feed three. The decor is awesome!!! Only been once but so far I love it. Going again tomorrow!!!! ------------- Ok, it's tomorrow =] Yesterdays sushi rolls were fantastic. Today was even better. They've got a $7.95 Lunch special with somewhere around 20 different choices. I ordered the Basil Chicken (Thai Dish) and my wife ordered Broccoli Chicken (Chineseish). Both lunch specials came with soup, salad, white or brown rice along with the entree. Quick Warning: If the dish has the HOT indicator next to it (little pepper) it is really spicy. Which I love! But just wanted to warn you all. So, less than $8 for a four course lunch and we were stuffed and couldn't finish everything. My Basil Chicken was spicy and delicious. A touch of sweet mixed with the spicy was very good. My wife's dish was also delicious. Very mild, but very good and both dishes felt like the food was "fresh". Service was outstanding once again. We were in and out in 35 minutes. Leaving the 5-Star Rating.

Scallops and steak were outstanding, fantastic service. They really put on a show, definitely try some sake. I can't wait to come back.

Sushi here is always great! However, we went to try the new Japanese steakhouse for the first time and the service was horrible! Had a reservation for 7:45, didn't get seated for 1.5 hours, when we finally did, we waited another 15 minutes to get drinks. After receiving our drinks, waited another 15 minutes and didn't see our Hibachi chef yet, and no salad or soup was even brought out yet. It was 9:15 by then and all of were so hungry we just decided to leave. Maybe we will try it out again and hope we have a better experience, after they get it figured out.

Love the Jalapeño Roll ! Pricey, but the fish was all fresh - even on a Monday

This was an average restaurant. I sat at the sushi bar and had to endure the conversations between the wait staff and the chefs. A bit annoying. Sashimi was fresh but the "ginger" salad dressing was the worst I had ever tasted. Fancy sushi was much better and less expensive.

  • Carol M.

EXPENSIVE!!! THE ROLLS ARE MORE $$$ THAN WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN SEATTLE, DENVER, LAS VEGAS, OR BOISE...For a new place the miso soup is a rather disgusting dry mix. The soup bowls appear worn and shabby. I requested chopsticks and it took 10 minutes and a phone conversation before they arrived...oh well the spicy tuna roll arrived as a paste of questionable ingredients... it appears that they want to disguise poor quality fish by chopping it to death and placing ingredients and then charging $14.95 for the roll. .SKIP THIS PLACE UNTIL THEY GET THE QUALITY TO MATCH THEIR FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS.

  • John G.

We came here for the lunch special. Was nothing special. I heard this place was over priced for what you get but saw the special seemed like a good deal. The rolls were very mediocre. Smaller than I thought and nothing about them stood out. Wasn't too much better than grocery store sushi. Hopefully Billings has better than this.

Good service. Good friends. Good times. However the edamame was a little scarce.

  • Michelle C.

Way overpriced and freshness of fish was iffy at best, the tuna in the tuna roll was almost black. Great decor and friendly service, just would not recommend for sushi.

A hidden treasure. We love sushi.. Have been to sushi hana in Missoula and Wasabi in Whitefish.... They both are very good, but the Asian Sea Grill is in a league of there own. Not just good or great... It's extremely good, fresh and tasty. Great value , lots to choose from... No longer do I need to drive of fly to vegas for great sushi....

Excellent food and good service. I love it that they do not have a buffet. Sushi is first rate. The. seafood birdnest entre is fabulous. Without a doubt this is the best asian restaurant in Billings.

Good service. Nice atmosphere. Extensive menu. Best variety of sushi in town. Sushi was fresh and nicely presented.

Went here today for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I moved to San Francisco a couple years ago and have since had my pallet opened up to the wonderful world of sushi. I was skeptical about getting any kind of seafood in Billings, MT, but I couldn't have been more satisfied. The atmosphere is nice, the service was top notch and the two rolls we ordered were both as delicious as most of what I've had in the bay area. We ordered the Sumo and Sweetheart rolls which I would highly recommend. I look forward to returning and trying out some more of the menu before I get to go back to California for more wonderful culinary adventures.

This place is very nice but very expensive! At least $30 and up for a special roll.

I was looking for some good oriental food as I viewed the online menu I couldn't believe what a large selection they had. There were 5 of us for dinner we had a couple appetizers, drinks, and a main course for about $25 per person. ( that includes one person eating steak &lobster) the food was flavorful, temp. Hot, plenty of left overs. Our waitress was exceptional could not have asked for better. The sushi rolls were about twice as big as you would find else where. Will definitely go back.

  • Jay F.

I've been there 3 times, twice for sushi. I just had lunch there and changed it up to their sesame chicken lunch meal. Their sesame chicken was outstanding. Better than Grand Garden which I think is my favorite for Chinese food in town. My buddy had bento box that he really liked as well. While their sushi isn't as good as Nara, it's on par with Sweet Ginger. They're a bit overpriced for the size you get in my opinion and their rice to fish ratio doesn't seem the best (too little rice- imagine that!). The fish both times hasn't tasted the freshest but certainly not old by any means. The atmosphere is nice be it a business lunch or friends over dinner. I'll probably frequent this place since it's close to my house. It would be a 3 star place except that sesame chicken was awesome so they get 4 stars.

  • D M.

You get what you pay for! SLightly more expensive, but fantastic quality and flavor. Try their lettus wraps and spicy chicken wings as an app, and move on to the jalapeno roll, MDF roll, or the christmas-- all delicious!

  • L M.

The wait staff is extremely good. The food is great-I especially like going there for dinner b/c the portions are much bigger but I get enough at lunch too. Décor is really nice. Prices seem reasonable to me.

    (4)
  • Kim B.

Wonderful Asian/Asian-inspired entrees - some of the best we have had anywhere; good service; and decent atmosphere. This rating would be 5 stars if they brought the sushi quality up just a bit. For now, Nara is where we go if we want sushi only.

  • Brooke G.

In search of Pho we decided to check this place out. I am a sushi novice but a foodie with a great palate from a foodie city - the selection was SO impressive!! We happened to arrive at Happy Hour time and tried the special martini of the day Watermelon Sake-Tini and got the lettuce cups for $3.99!!! Generous helping, piping hot, delicious and 1/2 the menu price. Drink was awesome. We followed with hot and sour soup - very good and I ordered basic California rolls. Avocado not quite firm as I prefer but was still very good and fresh. Hubbie had his all time favorite General Tso's Chicken. Sweet and spicy, lightly tempura breaded and all white tender tender chicken. Not how it's usually done. My husband said hands down the BEST he's ever had. Goofy name. Incredible decor for Billings. Service EXCELLENT. Billings your missing out if you don't try this Pan Asian/fusion place. A gem! Can't wait to go back.

We have had very enjoyable experiences here. The rolls are tasty and the staff is friendly, but still seem to be finding their footing. The decor is fantastic, great date night ambience.
