Food is just okay. Salsa is good, but the chips are horrible. Thick and old. Better try the Mexican restaurant on the other side of town.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is fun but they just do not know how to make good mexican food! The chips were blah, rice was blah, and even the refried beans were blah. Their queso was horrible. I ordered the chicken flautas and they were just okay. Papitos needs to visit Texas or California and do some taste testing research on what real US Mexican food should be.

The serivice is just bad. Had a waistress who was just in a horrible mood to the point we were worried if we asked her to do anything extra she would spit in our food. I mean I understand having a bad day, but being that rude to customers is unexceptable. Go home if you are going to treat people like that. Then only when we got our checks she was super sweet in some effort to still get a good tip. Food is decent but sometimes you might get undercooked food so be aware...

Not the best Mexican I've ever had, but it is the best in town. This was my spot to get my fill on chicken, cheese, and rice in college. Good food and friendly staff. You won't find anything earth shattering here, but it's good.

RAW FOOD. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I have went to Papitos many times. The service is usually not the best at all and when you get take out something is bound to be wrong. One time before I ordered their burrito asado which was my normal dish until they sent me home with raw chicken. I called and complained and they only wanted to give me another one and they were reluctant about that much. I live 15 minutes away. That's not cool. It's barely excusable but after a call to the health department I assumed they would get it together and not serve raw food. Wrong. I ordered a simple dish for take out. Beef and cheese nachos. First of all they didn't give me the extra tortilla shells or the chips that I ordered. The fajitas that I ordered the extra tortilla shells for had shrimp in them. They left the tails on them! They also served me raw beef. I called to complain and after the woman arguing with me I was put on hold and I could hear them talking in the background. I was then put on the phone with the manager. He simply told me that his people told him we were very confusing and changed our minds multiple times. No. She couldn't understand our order. So when I told him that it was the second time is gotten raw food from them he just asked what I wanted him to do. So I told him to sort their crap out because raw food is not cool. So he told me to if we come back change our minds less and then he said and I quote "Well there's two other Mexican restaurants in town. Order from them." And then hung up. Needless to say I will not be back. Ever.

The chips and salsa, cheese dip, and entree were all pretty tasty, as was the margarita on the rocks that I ordered. Unfortunately what brought their rating down was the service and atmosphere. I was in Oxford on business and came in to dine solo a good hour before they closed. The hostess barely looked at me, just hollered for someone else to seat me. A young man came up to lead me to my table. When we got to the booth (way in the back of the restaurant by the kitchen, even though the place was nearly empty), he tossed the menu down on the table and kept on walking. No "here is your table" or anything. My cheese dip came well before I had any chips. While eating, I was treated to music blaring from 3 different locations within the restaurant, all different songs. It felt like I was eating in a carnival. The wait staff busied themselves with vacuuming, sweeping, and moving around tables and chairs directly next to my booth. I understand they were due to close in about half an hour, but the place is HUGE....surely there was another part of the restaurant that be tended to while I finished eating. Upon paying my bill, I asked the hostess if I could have an itemized receipt, as I needed to expense the meal. She told me she couldn't do that. Overall it was good food, but the service and attitude of the employees was sorely lacking.

I ate lunch here on Memorial Day, as I had just arrived in town for a workshop and nothing was open. The food was .... ok. I ordered Huevos Rancheros, and it was serviceable. The chips were freshly fried and the salsa was nice and spicy. I even ordered a margarita - it was a tad sweet - but I was expecting as much. The disturbing part was my server. He hovered, leering at me while I attempted to eat. His english was not good, and my spanish is worse - but I got the distinct feeling he was attempting to proposition me. I attempted to ignore him and read my magazine, but that failed rather spectacularly. I eventually gave up, pushed my plate back and paid. I've eaten in many many many places, but have never felt that uncomfortable.

There are lots of things I can't get used to about the South. Like the way people immediately rush to "fag" as a general pejorative term for anything they dislike, rather than being specific about why they don't like it. Or, more to the point, the way that many Southerners totally lack the ability to imagine that people from other parts of the country might arrange their lives differently, and are therefore totally unable to comprehend why I don't immediately understand the full implications of some random fact that they offer as an explanation without bothering to explain why it's relevant. I tried to order a beer with dinner. "It's Sunday," the host told me. "So ... margaritas are on sale, and I should get one of those?" I asked. Now, rather than explaining why the day of the week was relevant, he just shook his head and waited for me to try again. "So you didn't get your delivery today, and I should order a different kind of beer?" Again, he just shook his head. I had to guess five times why the fact that it was Sunday was relevant before he gave up and explained that there is no alcohol service in Oxford on Sunday, and then he walked off, muttering under his breath, presumably about what stupid fucking people these Yankees are, what with thinking you can order beer on Sunday in a restaurant, a practice that Jesus Christ himself labeled as immoral on multiple occasions. Or, at least, that's what I presume he was muttering about. He didn't have the cojones to tell me, himself, what his problem was. Moreover, despite the fact that the restaurant was entirely empty aside from one other table, the host seated me RIGHT NEXT TO the other group of patrons -- a table of six fourteen-year-old girls, who spent the hour I was having dinner discussing their passionate attachment to the music of Justin Bieber at a volume that prevented me from concentrating on the book I was trying to read. With an entire empty restaurant, why would he put me next to them? My guess is that, being a typical Southerner, he totally lacks the ability to see anything from anyone else's point of view that differs in any way from his own ... and that he can't imagine, therefore, that I might not be attracted to fourteen-year-old girls. Service was awful in other ways, too. Despite being one of two tables at the restaurant, it took the waiter fifteen minutes even to appear at my table and ask whether I was ready to order (and I had been, for about twelve minutes). The food came out quickly, and I didn't see the waiter again for twenty minutes, after which he asked me five times in the next ten minutes whether everything was OK. Then he disappeared again just as I was finishing my dinner, and I didn't see him again for the rest of the night. Half an hour later, I had to get up and ask the cashier to have someone bring me my check. When the check came, I was asked for the first time since my food arrived if I wanted a refill on my iced tea -- which I'd been hoping for for about twenty-five minutes at that point. A bullshit truism says that you can judge the quality of food in a Mexican restaurant by the quality of chips and salsa that arrive at your table when you sit down. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa here were the best part of the meal -- they were excellent, while the rest of the food was mediocre at best. At least the portion size was decent and the price was reasonable, though.

Food is not awful, but the service on my latest visit was terrible. Had to ask for the waiter multiple times. There are much better Mexican options in Oxford.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate.
