I am not buffet kinda guy but this place was impressive we had lunch on a Sunday morning and all I can say was bring me another Mimosa! The food was excellent. The staff was a well oiled machine. Would definitely visit again when we go back to Natchez.

I had lunch in this restaurant several years ago and it was delicious. It seemed like the perfect place to take our family who were visiting from Utah. Boy was I ever wrong!! We got to the restaurant at 1:45 and waited to be seated for about 10 minutes and finally a waitress pointed to a table and rudely commented "We close at 2". We sat there for another couple of minutes and another waitress walked up to the table and said "I'm confused I have to go check the time". Needless to say at this point we did not feel very welcome. If a restaurant says they close at a certain time does that mean they stop serving 20 minutes before they close?!! I don't think I've ever been treated so badly in a restaurant, not to mention how embarrassing it was to have out of town visitors witness such rude and unacceptable behavior. We will not return to this restaurant.

My family and I ate here our first day at Natchez, Friday, December 5th it was so good. They only serve lunch between the hours of 11-3 I think, I had the Soup of the Day which was Turtle Soup with Sherry, and the Blue Plate Special 12 Hour Roasted Sirloin Steak with Spinach and Artichoke Casserole and these Potato Fries, they weren't really fries I don't know what you call them. But Oh that Sirloin was so good and tender and that Spinach and Artichoke Casserole was amazing. And the Turtle soup, that was my first time ever having Turtle Soup, and if you didn't know it was Turtle you would think it was beef. The only reason I can't give it 5 Stars is because of the service, I understand we got there like 30 minutes before it closed but the waitress was a little rude and my step dad did have to wave her down to order. But I think the food made up for it. As for the Decor, it was a little outdated, but its Natchez, they pride themselves on Antebellum homes and things like that so they try to have that feel of a Centuries old restaurant.

Food was just ok - fried chicken, as recommended by our totally disinterested waitress, was pretty good, but wife's triple salad plate was only 1/2 eaten, for good (or 'bad') reason. Service? Not really. Upon entering and waiting and being ignored by staff, another customer suggested we seat ourselves (as he had to do). Only the beginning of a disappointing lunch experience - our first in Natchez, but fortunately the only disappointment in Natchez.

I have been here a few times and seem to have the same problem nearly every time. I try to purchase the Sunday special to go but, for some reason they won't sell what I'm willing to pay for. You can buy the side items on the buffet but no chicken, or chicken but without the sides. The chef "needs them for the buffet" is what they tell me. What difference does it make where you consume the meal? It you're in the business of selling food, then you should sell it to whom ever is willing to pay for it. I will not go to a restaurant and feel like I have to BEG them to sell me food. I should mention the chicken and grits are really the only thing decent in the entire place. I have never been one for caned vegetables. I'm not sure I will go back to this place again. Perhaps one day they will learn that it's better to sell the food rather than throw it away, or go out of business.

I have always enjoyed this place. I must say though that it is no longer the secret gem it used to be years ago. We went in around 12:15. I'd say about 1/2 of the tables were occupied. I could tell almost immediately we had made a mistake. The service was simply awful. It took 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. It didn't get much better from there. I asked our server what the soup of the day was to which she replied, "uh it's some kind of shrimp and cheese type soup." I later found out that it was a shrimp and corn bisque. Needless to say, I did not have a cup! From there it got progressively worse. Our chicken liver appetizer was room temperature by the time it came out. Our meals, or I should say everyone's but mine arrived around 30 minutes later. When the server brought everything out but my plate she asked, "what you had to eat?". I will not be returning. All in all Carriage House is an unfortunate PASS.

Disappointing. Read menu online before going, very few of those items were on the menu. I understand the fried chicken is awesome, but avoid this restaurant if you want something not fried. My waiter checked on the table adjacent to ours repeatedly, but I had to flag him down for more water. Decor is very dated and place needs updating.

I wish I could give a review of the food but I wasn't able to get that far! So here's my experience....after a 2-1/2 drive into Natchez and research of their website and Facebook page, I was surprised to find it hosting a $50 a plate food event. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and even let us know what was going on! I get that special event are part of the biz but make people aware through your social media...or even a sign at the door would of been nice. My recommendation is enjoy the beautiful grounds at the restaurant and then hop in the car to Biscuits and Blues...they took good care of us :)

Dress nice! Up scale feel though no one looked down on me walking in with jeans lol. House salad was very good! The fried fish had a great flavor/crunch. Loved it. I wasn't personally a fan of the sirloin of beef. A must try is the crunchy tamales! Soooo amazing! I'd come back.

My wife and I caught their Sunday brunch after completing the Natchez Trace drive and it definitely met our expectations for what a traditional old-south buffet should be. The place itself has a plantation-style ambiance and being surrounded by nice older couples who were all dressed up for their after-church meal only added to that atmosphere. Some of our favorite items from the buffet were the brisket (smoky and tender), drum fish (well-cooked in a light butter-caper sauce), and chicken gumbo. One other highlight was the grits with grillades. We weren't familiar with grillades, but it is a savory red-colored beef gravy that is meant to be poured over the grits. I don't normally like grits, but these had a nice creamy consistency with a cheesy flavor that wasn't overpowering, and the grillades complimented them very well. But our favorite part of the Carriage House experience came after the brunch. The dessert offered that day was French croissant bread pudding and it's the reason I give this place 4 stars. As you can imagine, it was a decadent blend of sweetness from the light covering of praline sauce and butteriness from the croissants, which were baked to crispy perfection on the top layer. Unlike many other bread puddings, it wasn't too wet or too sweet, but had just enough of each characteristic to make it the perfect way finish off a proper southern brunch. All in all, I would highly recommend the Carriage House. The brunch buffet is a tad expensive at $17/person, but the food was tasty, the ambiance was nice and the price also included drinks and dessert (and we would have gladly paid $5 for just the bread pudding).

This place defines Southern cuisine. Upon entering I saw they were a multi year winner for fried chicken. So of course I got the fried chicken. Wow! They batter is thick, very crispy, and flavorful. Like my mom used to make in Mississippi, only better. The mashed potatoes were good, and skin-on if that is either important or threatening for you. Brown gravy served with the potatoes was very good and homemade (trust me, I know the difference - thanks, Mom). They also have a best biscuits award. And their tiny biscuits didn't disappoint. No worries on the biscuit size - they bring refills! Butter (lima) beans were cooked with flavor from ham hoc fat. They were good, but I was too full on chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes & gravy to care much about butter beans. My wife had smoked fried catfish. That's right, smoked and fried. Look, I was born and raised in Mississippi. I've had smoked food. I've had fried food. But I've never had smoked and fried food. They must have smoked the fish just enough to pick up a smoked flavor, then finished it with frying. The catfish wasn't overlooked. It had a smoky flavor and a light batter. Not the traditional cornmeal-heavy batter which may have competed with the smoke flavor. But a lighter batter with some amount of corn meal. It was great. Anyway, fried chicken or smoked fried catfish - you can't go wrong.

Staff friendly. Failed to bring utensil of any sort with desert, said would return, after lengthy wait, I finally took silverware off nearby table. Food good classic southern dishes- fried chicken, etc. We always eat here when we go to Natchez.

I just moved to Natchez a few months ago to become a Park Ranger at Natchez National Historical Par k, and when I asked about food this place kept coming up over and over again for having the best fried chicken, so I had to make room in my schedule and try it. First thing that came out was silver dollar sized biscuits they were pretty amazing. All the entrées come with soup or salad, and the day I went they had a Chicken and Sausage gumbo that was unbelievable,When i got the chicken it was a thigh and a breast, each could of been a meal on its own. The chicken was not real greasy either which I believe is a plus, the flavor was just okay, but the moistness was unparalleled, by any other fried chicken I have had.The mashed potatoes were good as well the had the skins still in them and the gravy was very flavorful. The vegetable of the day was turnip greens, which was something I had never had, and tried it and it wasn't for me. The service was excellent as well. This was also the first place in the south I have had good UNsweetened teas, I swear they don't know how to make tea down here and that is why it is masked in mountains of sugar. Definitely going to return and try something else, they had some amazing sounding daily specials that I hope I can try sometime.

This is what FIVE stars should taste like. We had the Sunday brunch. The selection was not HUGE like some buffets but every item was superb (although I did not care for the crawfish flavor so don't think I will try crawfish-anything from now on). The tables were appropriately set with table clothes and the service was very good. I would certainly eat here again.

Went to a friends rehearsal dinner here. Chef bingo hand delivered a wonderful 3 course meal -the main course being a wonderful duck-and I dint even like duck. It was a great evening, and by the time I polished off the fruit cobbler and coffee I was ready for a nice nap. Thanks chef bingo!

Over the past few years we have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed in the quality of the food or service. This place is top notch and all the selections are great. Don't miss this place should you visit Natchez. Should also mention that the prices are very reasonable as well. On Fridays you can get a Mint Julip, or other drink, for only $3. Now that is a deal!
