Unless you are staying in Warrenton or passing through town, this place is easily missed. Warrenton is a small town but it is part of the winery scene. I believe you can get to Augusta Winery through Warrenton. Brewskies is one of the few if any nicer independent restaurants in Warrenton. The food is comfort food, green beans, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, that sort of stuff. I had chicken wings which were done well. They have quality beer and wine selections. There is outdoor seating and a musician was playing. The outdoor seating is fun because it is in an alley and shaded. It is family owned and operated and the service is friendly.

Service is utterly slow. Place is a little aged, but it does have character. Came on a Friday evening and the restaurant was not busy. That did not prevent them from moving at a snail's pace for service and food. Had the Brewskies' Special, which was pretty good. No matter, as the horrible service takes away from any positive they have.

The service is horrible. Atmosphere for a bar is good. Food is good for bar food. However I just can't get over the lack of service. I have went back numerous times because I want to like the place but they fail every time.

I give credit for the nicely displayed Cobb salad. Basic: iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cheese, etc. Not impressed with the broccoli soup, which tasted like it was from a mix. Old decor, smelled of smoke. White washcloths for napkins. Owner came out dressed in jeans and chambray shirt, beard. Very nice and positive, but I just wanted to tell him he could do so much better by changing with just $100. I expected just a little more from a B&B. Guys, use mixed lettuce, not iceberg. Make homemade soup with flavor and chunks of broccoli. And get rid of indoor smoking! Only smokers like it. Good luck in the future.

Place was recommended by a couple of locals as a good local non-chain restaurant in town. Ok it is a little rundown and dated. Don't expect anything other than comfort food. The food is good, not great and a whole lot better that the chain fast food places found throughout the community. Have a very large beer selection and the wine list looked good. I had the Grilled Chicken with Mushrooms. Was a little dry for my taste, however the veggies were spot on still crisp and full of flavor. I would say that it is kind of an oasis from the rest of the fast food desert that is in town.

A good bargain and a great treat! The Saturday night prime rib is excellent, and so is the Alaskan salmon entree; don't expect too much in visible crab meat in the salmon dish's sauce, but the flavor more than makes up for that. The house "Brewsky's" dressing is very nice, somewhere between Italian and Thousand Island. They sell it by the bottle. We tried the French onion soup in a bread bowl, and it was very tasty. The chocolate torte was light and intensely chocolatey all at the same time, and homemade cobbler was blackberry with a very good vanilla ice cream on the night we visited. Both were great. Had to stop ourselves from licking the plates! I would go back and order all the same things, except I want to try some of the other entrees. We had a glass of house merlot and house chardonnay. Keep in mind I'm not a gourmet drink expert, but both seemed perfectly acceptable. The only drawback for me was the coffee, which was pretty average, and for which they don't serve half and half--fair warning! But I don't usually drink coffee except at breakfast, so that doesn't seem like a big drawback, to me. And they were nice enough to bring whole milk. Others may differ!

Warrenton is a prime example of a once prosperous yet quaint country town with charm and industry, and everything that goes with it. Today the historic downtown area is mostly closed, and aside from a BBQ shack, Brewskies is the only non fast food chain in town. You can thank conglomerate food chains and mega stores for ruining your towns folks ;) I brought my grandfather and his best friend from way back into town to see the Historical Society Museum, and afterwards we grabbed lunch. I wanted to bring them somewhere that wasn't a chain, so Brewskies looked like the only candidate. It is also in the same building that was once my grandfathers dentist. I could tell that the restaurant was sort of half thought out. Aside from waiting a good 5 minutes to be seated when we were the only people there, and the people working there seemingly not interested in providing quality service, I noticed a lot of things that you shouldn't see at a restaurant. My grandfather commented on how dirty the place looked, and I noticed that the salt and pepper shakers (though they were actually grinders) were the kind you get in the spice section at the store, and still had labels on them, instead of getting nicer ones that you refill, and other little things like that. I also didn't like having a TV on distracting us, and someone was messing with a bunch of ice and making a ton of noise while we were trying to have a conversation (remember, old people speak low and can't hear well). Well, my grandfather ordered a grilled cheese and a cream of asparagus soup (very "old man" order! haha), his friend ordered a chicken sandwich, and I ordered the grilled mushroom sandwich with a side salad. All our sandwiches were buttered and toasted, perhaps with a bit too much butter, which my grandfather complained about, as well as having too much cheese in his sandwich, which kept oozing out and getting his hands all greasy. He liked his soup though. The chicken sandwich looked good, and had a grilled chicken breast in it. He didn't complain, as he seldom does. My mushroom sandwich was absolutely great minus the buttery bread. No mayo on it, didn't have to make a custom order. The only thing is that it came with a pickle in the basket, which no one had mentioned before. So it soaked up into my sandwich, and I had to remove the bread in order to not taste the foul nastiness of the pickle juice. None of our sandwiches came with sides, which I thought was a little odd. Usually they will come with a choice of fries or a side salad, which brings me to my side salad: All iceberg lettuce, and it had cheese on it. Not exactly up there in the healthy salad department. At least my dressing came on the side, which allowed me to dose it appropriately. Overall I was underwealmed with the joint, and think they could really try harder. They have the advantage of not being a fast food chain, so they will have a lot of draw from people who want real food if they just up their game a little. -3 stars for lack of attention to detail/sides, service, and the surprise pickle.
