The margaritas, beans, rice and fish tacos were all pretty tasty. I don't think our fish tacos were called fish tacos on the menu, but they sounded more like fish tacos than the fish tacos actually listed on the menu. They were fresh and seasoned just right. The red sauce on the burrito & enchilada was pretty bland. The service was fast & friendly, no complaints. There was a decent crowd there on a Saturday night. I would recommend La Fuente over a chain restaurant any day.

Most of the combos are generic fast food mexican; kind of bland. I've been several times and wasn't that impressed. Someone suggested the Tacos Al Pastor so I tried it for something different. These were amazing. Like street tacos with very spicy pastor sauce. I'll be back, and I know what I'm ordering when I do!

We eat here almost every Friday night. It is good Mexican food and they have great drink specials. The fajitas La Fuente are my favorite item but I haven't been disappointed in anything I have tried. My husband gets the chicken chalupa mostly and it is a full meal for under $5. (Yes, a small meal. But come on, you will be full by then on chips and salsa anyway.) Our favorite waiter Oscar is a big bonus to this place as well.

Went to la fuente tonight and once again had poor sevice. Half way through dinner my daughter found a hair in her food. When we told the waiter and asked for the entree to be removed from the bill or replaced we were told they could not do that. We were told to come back tomorrow and MAYBE the manager would refund my money. We were charged half price for a dinner entree with a hair in it. Disgusting. We will not be returning. We used to eat here at least once a week but not if this is how they treat people.

Loved La Fuente. The food here was a tad more Americanized than my favorite Mexican restaurant in KC (Ixtapa off of Barry Road), but La Fuente is my new favorite American Mexican restaurant. This is a very bold statement, but here is why: 1. The SHRIMP CHIMICHANGA. For only $8.99 they gave me a generous batch of juicy shrimp (not dried out!!) wrapped in a cheesy deep fried tortilla. This was incredible. It was flaky on the outside and oozy cheesy and dough-y on the inside. The fiance and I agreed that I won with my order. It also came with rice, beans and guacamole. SO GOOD. This is a meal I would eat after a marathon.. my ultimate reward meal. 2. The Shrimp Nachos. You rarely see shrimp nachos on the menu. We got a half order and it was more than enough for 2 people. Lots of white cheese, on juicy shrimp (they cook the shrimp perfectly here) and green peppers and tomatoes and onions. Really good. 3. We also got an appetizer of guacamole. It was definitely made fresh and in-house. A good serving for the price of $4.99 (maybe it was $3.99). 4. Margaritas were good. Good price, but nothing else truly noteworthy. 5. The fiance got the fish tacos. He really enjoyed them. Said he would order again. I tried them and the fish actually tasted really fresh and it was grilled not deep fried or too greasy. However, I can't say much more about them because I was too busy in my shrimp chimichanga dream bubble to really give 2 shiz about his stupid tacos. So, in conclusion, I love La Fuente. Americanized Mexican food with very well-prepared seafood, a large menu with tons of options and a better price than On the Border. Service was also fast and friendly, but it was 3pm on a Saturday... so there wasn't a crowd to compete with.

    - for starters don't ask Siri to find this place. You will go around in circles... Stupid Apple. The restaurant is on the East side of 69 and in a strip mall. - chips are light and crisp and the guacamole tastes very fresh - atmosphere is friendly and coz

So I've lived north of smithville for 8 years now and am just now trying this place...... Call me chicken. Well this was a Sunday that we were in hurry and decided to try it out. Less than 10 minutes our food was in front of us!! I must say their chips and salsa were great, but my chimichanga(a safe choice in my mind) was flavorless. If you happen to be in smithville and just NEED Mexican food- try them out. The margaritas looked amazing! If you're used to el magueys , el cerro and pretty much every other Mexican restaurant save a few .... You'll feel right at home.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
