La Bonita is awesome. Loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere! A pretty great Mexican restaurant in the middle of nowhere-Midwest-USA. When I was going to college there, my grandparents came up from Texas and said that it rivals Tex-Mex, which is impressive.

Get the Maria. Substitute the tomatos for mushrooms. Thank me later.

Solidly decent Mexican food. Pretty much the standard things you can get at any Americanized Mexican restaurant, so I have no complaints; they just didn't really wow me either. Not particularly memorable, but good. My friends and I got our pictures taken with sombreros, though, and that was fun. :)

What the hell is it with people in this area serving dry red wines fucking ice cold!?!?!? So I was looking to La Bonita to redeem my faith in, not only humanity as a whole, but Mexican food in the North Western Missouri area. It did not fully achieve this unfortunately. I'll start with the good, since my attitude lately has been less than positive. Service was good for being busy, and the menu actually reads like a decent Mexican menu should. Chips were good...I'll get to the salsa during my negative rant later. Guac was actually guac! Go figure. Food came quick, was hot, and not absolutely terrible...flavor was present. Ok, I am done with all the niceties... The salsa, despite it's good flavor, had no consistency. I was able to substitute flour torillas with corn on my dish? Why? It's just dumb. Oh, and did I mention the wine? ;) So, I guess all and all not a terrible review. It's a mediocre spot, but from the looks of your choices here in Maryville, might be one of the better spots.

Colored shirts. I LOVE how all the waiters wear matching colored shirts! It's so cute! It makes me want to go to a FIESTA! Right when we sit down, we get menus and chips and salsa. Their chips are good, but their salsa was disappointing. I like my salsa chunky so I know it's actually salsa rather than water with food coloring and flavoring. Their salsa is flat. Kind of reminds me of ketchup... but that's not important cause it was free. I am a big fan of cheese dip. Cheese dip never disappoints, but I have to admit, I've had better cheese dip. Their beans were kind of salty, but I mixed it up with my enchilada and cheese sauce and it was all good. Their enchilada wasn't as good as I expected, but it was edible. I'll probably order a chicken quesadilla next time. That meal looked tastier. KEEP ROCKING THE COLORED SHIRTS!

Service is fast yes,BUT food is mediocre. Ordered a quesadilla, cheese was on the outside, tortilla was not cooked and full of grease. Second order was chix with shrimp with a cgeese sause and onions. Cheese sauce was watery, chinken was a big blob they put on plate that was covered with a couple shrim and onions. Bill was 38 for 2 people, WE WERE CHARGED FOR TORTILLAS!! What place, mexican place does that?? Extra??? Ridiculous!! Went once and that. Will. Be it.

I grew up on la Bonita's! The service is fast and good. They have the best margaritas and the white cheese is what sets this dime apart from other Mexican style restaurants. It's also a good place to spend a birthday. The employees are a great group of people. They are always smiling and are always helpful. I recommend the burrito tapatio.

This place is not bad at all. First off you notice all the happy and pretty Maryville customers with sombreros in pictures on the wall. I like happy. Happy is good. Second thing you notice is the menu is way too big. I like it simple so I ordered tacos al pastor. They were tasty, but not the traditional pineapple and pork and paprika combination I am used to. But still good. The meat was also fajita cut, so it was better eaten with a fork. Squeeze the tortilla around chunks that big and they go flying! Nice service and props for the table sauces... Yucateca has long been one of my favorites, and they had the green and the red.

I wish I could give no stars. In town visiting my boyfriends family. Wanted to try Mexican food from Missouri. The waiter greeted us and was friendly but then this happened. My boyfriend handed him the menu and the waiter smiled slyly and said, "Thank you, Guero!" I was shocked and couldn't believe what he said. He called my boyfriend in Spanish a "honkey." I had to make sure he said what he said and then I hear him call out to another customer, "hey, guero". What the heck! The waiter assumed these people don't know Spanish. He brought our food out I thanked him in Spanish. He was shocked and asked if I knew Spanish. I told him in Spanish,"a little", with a look that told him him I knew what he said. We were leaving and I confronted him and told him that it was wrong to be calling these people that word and that it was derogatory. He said no it was okay then patted me on my shoulder. I then spoke to the manager and he was less than helpful so we left. The food wasn't great I've had better. If you want to eat in this establishment, learn some Spanish. I am disappointed with the lack of the respect that these servers have for their customers.

Everyone loves La Bonita. I've eaten there many times and do enjoy the food. I did find a hair in my food on one visit. When I let the waiter know, he got me a new plate immediately. It's your basic Mexican restaurant.

Pre-made/store bought taco shells! That alone will keep me from coming back here. Salsa tastes like it came from a can. Just no reason whatsoever to go back.

Oh how I miss my La Bonita! This place has the most yummy cheese dip and nachos oh and margaritas! I could eat here everyday if I wouldn't get fat and if I hadn't have moved away! The chips and salsa are also yummy. I learned I loved of guac from this establishment! Priceless! The service is always a little slow but it is always busy in here! Especially after football games and during homecoming! But the food is well worth it! They accommodate large crowds well.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
