Few places specialize in chartruese, frambois, aged scotch and relatively high quality draught beers all at once. The Blue Fugue is known for their generous portions of all above-mentioned items and their bottled beer selection is one of the best in town. If you've never had Chartreuse, I recommend taking an evening and putting down a couple of these to supplement your drinking. Its dark and dingy and is indeed a total dive. The happy hour specials are usually really good. The only downside is they typically feature bands on friday and Saturday nights which means you have to pay a cover to get in. The bands are usually pretty good though. This bar has a bit of a new orleans dive bar atmosphere. If you go in early in the evening it's guaranteed to be quiet and comforting. This is a great spot for a beer after work or class.

I've always wanted to open up a fugitive hideaway bar called "The Blue Fuge." It'd basically be "The Blue Fugue," except with a functional lock on the unisex bathroom door.

Good bar for live music and drinks. I'd go back.

This is my favorite bar so far in Columbia. It has a really laid back vibe. It's not that big of a bar. There's a small stage set-up and they have music some nights. The bar tenders are really good, and they have a great selection of atypical liqueurs and beers. I got a 21 yr old Glenfarclas myself. It is definitely worth checking out on Tuesday nights. They have FREE drinks every hour on the half-hour. FREE, yes I said free drinks. They might not be super strong, but you can grab more than one, unless they're grabbed up quickly. Just stay and drink all night on Tuesdays. Check this place out.

A nice dive for friends to share pitchers. A haven safe from Yuppies and Frat Boys on 9th Street. The music is nothing to rave about usually. Formerly known as The Music Cafe, where I got my first pitcher. It was notorious for serving underage patrons. A couple years later (2006?) it reopened as The Blue Fugue. Probably a safe bet that this place will reopen again. Best Dive Bar in Columbia. (thanks to Kristin F. for helping me correct the old name of this great bar)

I like it. I've been to columbia a good number of times over the last year and Ive always enjoyed my time at The Blue Fugue. I was walking down the street last night and I could hear the music through the large open windows...which reminded me Memphis so I snuck in for a few beers and to listen to some crappy local band. Its a good place.
