Wasabi is one of my favorite sushi places in Saint Louis. I've always had fresh fish and while I know it's unconventional I love the mushrooms in the miso! I'm not a fan of the staff. Since the management change a few years ago I've been disappointed by my Wasabi visits. The hostess is sulky and really doesn't dress appropriately for her job. The manager is also grouchy and rarely interacts with or checks on customers. The servers are just okay. I love the food, just not the service at this location. The good news is there are other Wasabis in Saint Louis to visit.

Went with a group of seven from work for lunch. They put us at a round table that would have better seated 4 or 5. But the lunch menu was good. I had the Shrimp Tempura with a small side salad and the fried rice. The dressing on the salad was really good! The Shrimp were also very good. The rice was a little different from what I'm used to but I liked it. Overall, a good place. A little small but if you're looking for cozy it would probably be fine.

I thought all hopes is lost for decent sushi in St. Louis after dining at Nobu on Olive Blvd. Luckily, I found Wasabi. I had better before but their rolls definitely hit the spot whenever I have craving for sushi. My favorite is the Clayton Roll something about that smoky seared tuna and the crunchy fried bits on top!

I keep hearing good things, and have yet to figure it out. Sushi is OK. Nothing special, and with so many choices in this area I doubt I will give it a third try unless one of my friends INSISTS on it.

My fiancé & I were craving sushi and we had a great experience the last time we came here, so we decided to come back...big mistake. 1. We had been seated for about 5-10 minutes & no one had come to our table yet. I would of understood if they were super busy, but there were only a few other tables that were occupied. Then of course a couple that was seated after us were asked for their drink order & we were still ignored for a few more minutes. 2. After we finally got our drinks, the server asked if we would like any appetizers & as I was saying no she walked away. Wow. Okay. - My fiancé was ready to walk out after that, but I convinced him to stay & I regret that. 3. We ordered 4 pieces of Unagi, the Caterpillar roll, & the M&B II roll...and when the server brought our sushi, we were missing the Unagi. I informed her a couple minutes later we were missing an item & she was nice about it, apologized, & placed the order for us. Overall: The sushi this time around was pretty bland & we did not really care for it. And the service was terrible. We should of just went to Oishi or Drunken Fish...that's what we get for wanting to stay close to our house. Oh well. We will not be returning.

We went for a late lunch, and were the only customers at the time, so we were seated promptly and the servers were fairly attentive (but don't expect super friendly or fantastic service). We ordered 3 rolls, Alaskan, Windy City and Fox. The Alaskan roll (California roll topped with Salmon) was really mediocre--the salmon was by no means fresh and had a loose texture. The Windy City roll (scallop and cucumber) was drizzled with a sauce so sweet and strong that it completely overwhelmed the mild taste of the scallop. The Fox roll (tempura shrimp, cucumber, avocado) was good, and the tempura shrimp tasted like it had just been made. But again, there was a fairly strong, sweet sauce on it. We parked in the (paid) garage about a block down. There is some street parking in front of the restaurant, but it is a busy area. If there was parking closer by, I would consider getting takeout, but probably wouldn't if I had to pay for parking.

Wow, seriously best sushi ever. You walk in and see their awards for being dubbed the best sushi restaurant in St. Louis, and you question how good sushi can be when it's just fish rolled up in rice. My group sat down and we immediately ordered drinks. The menu was hard to navigate through at first. But once we figured it out, everything sounded and looked so appetizing. Most sushi places don't include realistic pictures of their rolls, but just by looking at them you could tell they were authentic. Each roll sounded so extravagant and tempting to try, that I ended up getting a combination that offers three rolls and an appetizer or either miso soup or a salad. I had a crunch roll, tuna rolls, and shrimp tempura roll. Their rolls were so large that I got full halfway through, but I kept on eating because it was too good to resist. I tried their fried rice, which is also one of the most impressive styles I had. Most places just take brown rice, dab some soy sauce on it, and call it fried. This place used normal white rice and the texture of it just crumbles in your mouth. It was so delicious! The only reason why I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was almost finished with my dish by the time they brought out the drinks.

There was a time when good sushi came from Wasabi. I'm sad to say that time is long gone. There was a management change a few years ago and since then the quality and service of Wasabi in Clayton plummeted. The hostess at the front desk is hot and cold -- mostly cold -- and on most days seems inconvenienced to be working there. Also, the sushi chefs are stingy with their items; expect to see smaller rolls that are heavy on the rice, which in general makes them not good. Also expect poor service. My husband and I primarily have ordered takeout and a couple times have had an item missing -- though we were still charged for it. The last time this happened, I called the restaurant and, instead of crediting my bill for the amount of the item, the manager essentially pleaded that I just get the item for free at my next visit. It was strange. I haven't gone back. Long story short, my family has given up on Wasabi. We can still get our sushi fix at Tani, which is down the street, and has superior food and service.

They use more rice on their sushi than grocery store takeout and all you can eat sushi bars. I would not recommend anything but the Nigori Saki and edamame. We spent over $120 for our meal and left a large portion of it on the table. The scallops were not fresh. The "smoked eel" was disgusting in the roll we ordered. After that the Salmon Avocado, which is usually a decent roll anywhere you go was not edible. And it just continued to get worse.... Our order included edamame, zaru soba, white tuna, salmon, crab, ami ebi (raw shrimp), scallops, octopus, salmon avocado roll, st. louis roll, and some smoked eel roll. I'm pretty sure we paid for a negi toro roll and never got it. This was our second bad experience here and we will not return.

There was such a big selection! We ended up getting the yummy roll, unagi, kamikaze, and crazy roll. If you go during happy hour, you can get buy one get one free!! We used a groupon and I'm glad it took us here. The food tasted fresh and the service was great. I'd definitely want to go again

I went here regularly when I was in St. Louis for school and still return whenever I get the chance. I have been to many sushi bars and this one is as good as any. Everything from the presentation of the sushi to the fresh tasting starter salad with orange peel dressing (really good!) make the meal exciting. There are a variety of rolls, sashimis, and noodle dishes to choose from. I also enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant - a trendy look with a casual feel. If you are looking for a place to eat on a Friday night, definitely check this place out!

Stopped in after a 6 mile run...I knew exactly what I wanted the Chirashi bowl (protein packed perfection). A low maintenance type visit so there's not much ado about this one. The presentation was beautiful and everything tasted delicious. I also decided to try the new Mermaid Roll which was advertised at the door. A delight! Very filling roll topped with octopus. I sat in the back bar top area solo; I like to eat in solitude sometimes. My server was a nice young lady. The sushi chef smiled and thanked me for coming in once I got up to leave. Ladies room was nice, neat & decorated accordingly. I'll be back.

Sushi was great! One of the sake glasses was dirty, but they brought me a new shot of top shelf sake in a clean glass. Excellent customer service.

We started with the jalapeño poppers that were on special. Not too bad. Crisp jalapeño, decent filling, lightly fried. All of the rolls were delicious, though. Mr. Kim's was the favorite, but the Alaska and Spider rolls were just as well made. A little expensive for a Monday night, but I would go back again. Service was quick and attentive, even considering it was pretty busy. I was never without a drink, and the rolls got there quickly.

Wasabi is my go to for sushi in Clayton. I have learned how to order. The best thing there is the crazy roll (crazy #1 and #2). It's, well, crazy. Check it out. I also like the basic sashimi and nigiri. They have excellent salmon. The seaweed salad is excellent. Handrolls are also a good way to go. The service is very friendly, and they do a nice job of getting food in front of you quickly. Many sushi spots have come and gone in Clayton, and this one is old faithful!
