Move in day at Winona State. Great service. Good food. Reasonable prices. We did lunch.

Not impressed!! Salad bar was only ok. Soups were old and lacked flavor! I ordered a gluten-free bun with my hamburger, because I have a mild wheat allergy - the bun I got was delicious and when I asked where they got such an amazing gluten-free bun I was told at the local bakery. After dining, I promptly went to that local bakery and was told they do not make gluten free buns!! Like I said my allergy is very mild - BUT if they had made that mistake with someone that has a severe allergy they could have done serious damage or potentially killed them!! So I will never go there again!! BIG MISTAKE!!!

Meat and potatoes kind of place. Both of our steaks were overcooked and we received some random corn on the side that nobody ordered or ate before it looked terrible.

Their battered shrimp is the best in town. So tasty. Salad bar leaves something to be desired, but it's adequate. Good brunch, decent buffet when available.

Very reasonable prices and senior citizens love it here! It isn't a place a lot of people think to stop but I have never been disappointed. Breakfast and lunch are great. If you like battered shrimp it is very good here. I like the tenderloin myself/

On different occasions we had dinner and breakfast. My Tenderloin Tips was pretty good and the salad bar was adequate, together rating a "B-". My companions had mostly deep fried stuff which they reported as "C+". The one big negative aspect was the flies. Because few other diners were present we were probably the only target. Still, flies, ick. Breakfast items ordered were Biscuits and Gravy which earned a "C" and the Benedict Skillet, which was strangely greasy and has an unrecognizable taste not masked by the not good hollandaise sauce, should be avoided rating a "D-". I don't recall flies being an issue at breakfast.

We were looking for breakfast near our hotel, and this was the nearest likely-looking place to acquire some calories prior to hitting the road. If you're not really concerned about the quality of your morning caloric content, this might be the place for you. The breakfast selection was okay at best and appeared to feature lots of butter in their preparation; my eggs and hash browns were in no danger of sticking ot the plate, thanks to all the butter they were cooked in. Their sausage patties weren't so much patties as they were medium-sized throwing discs -- they must have been around 5" diameter. I had two of those beasts as part of my breakfast. The meat wasn't bad but I now know where the bar is set for too much meat in my morning meal. A recent reviewer mentioned the fly problem. It's now at least a third-generation fly problem because they were annoying the heck out of me whie I was trying to finish breakfast. Wish I could give more stars, but the breakfast chow wouldn't rate more than three stars and the fly problem was a big turnoff -- I've eaten at some pretty rustic places, but even the greasiest of the spoons didn't have problems keeping flies out of the dining area. We spent the next couple of days going out of our way to not eat here.

We ate here on a Sunday morning. We were seated and served immediately; the food was good and the prices were reasonable. There's a hunting-lodge decor at Timbers, and they also have what looked like a very elaborate buffet. We ordered from the menu, and we were happy with the meals. The coffee was delicious. The breakfast menu offers some selections for the health-conscious patron, but these aren't "egg beaters with fruit". Oh no: it's elk-burger with eggs, and a similar carnivore-friendly option. Which I guess is really healthy, if you're a tiger. Timbers is a good choice for a basic, decent meal that won't break the bank, and the place was hopping. We weren't rushed out, but it is not a place where you can really linger over coffee. Its popularity means they have to serve a lot of people, so the tables were a bit close together and conversation carried. I would definitely eat here again. And I will probably order the elk burger--it does sound appealing.

We ate here on a Friday afternoon. Had chicken fried steak & beef stroganoff. Both were excellent! We saw no evidence of flies as mentioned by other reviewers. Salad bar was OK, nothing special, but not bad either.
