St. Paul Baglery really delivers on execution of their food in an unassuming but pleasant store and very affordable prices. I was raised on Brueggers (one of the very first shops is in my hometown), but St. Paul Baglery really takes it up a notch. Their bagels are well cooked - hard outside, soft inside- and taste very clearly like the advertised flavor. Their cream cheese incredibly flavorful and smooth with lots of interesting choices. Apricot almond cream cheese, where have you been all my life?? Bacon chive is another favorite. I also just had an amazing fresh, gooey, rich cookie from them. We used them for a series of work breakfasts (~100 people/day) and they were extremely friendly to deal with, reasonable prices, everything was ready on time, and they even did some 'extras' (like pre-slicing) for free.

"Luther vandross" on a garlic bagel - 3.5 stars pizza bagel for the kid - 4 stars according to him if it has sausage on it, order it without. the sausage isn't that great, but the pother proteins are good! the garlic bagel was excellent! not burnt like a lot of other garlic bagels I've had. the best part about this place is the eggs. real cracked fried eggs, not the rubbery yellow circles at breuggers or mcds.

We love this place. I HIGHLY recommend the St. paulie. Always spinning interesting vinyl. Have tried not tried smoothies bet they are great. The iced tea is different and good. Yummy scones.

I'm sure the cafe is great - we've never been there. This review is purely to state how disappointed we were that the bagels purchased from Whole Foods were covered in mold spots in less than 48 hours. No expiration or best by date either. What a waste of money.

You're a shinning star, a guiding light my love fantasy. There's not an hour minute day or night that I don't want a Luther Vandross breakfast bagel. A million star review is never too much.

They have excellent bagels here. Perfect texture of both chewy and fluffy. In a world of chain establishments, it's nice to find a locally owned bagel shop!

It's a great shop. Their breakfast bagels are wonderful. The only reason for a four star is sometimes the place smells odd. Love the names of the sandwiches!

I have been here twice now. The wifi connection is strong and fast. The food is good, the service is upbeat, friendly and fast. Nice music too! It's not much to look at from the outside, but once you open the cover the story is a gem.

Stop in for a bagel sandwich once in a while. Bagels are excellent, and the best part is the owner always has vinyl playing. Joe Cocker was on the turntable yesterday, time before that was Aretha. For that reason I am giving 5 stars.

I was there on Saturday for the first time. I must have driven past this place a million times, and never new it was there! It is truly a hidden gem. The sandwiches are delicious, fresh, and inexpensive. They have lots of options, too. I got a mocha-banana smoothie with my bagel, and it was to die for! The service was good too. Very friendly girl behind the register, and an older gentleman was sitting down (owner, perhaps) when we walked in, and he gave us the run-down of the business. Very personable! I'm very excited to try their breakfast items!

Quick stop to get breakfast was worth it. Simple place simple people great bagels. Had a freshly made egg and cheese on a garlic bagel with Kona medium roast coffee. Awesome start to my day. Great find in the area. They deliver for a minimum order too.

  • Krystal S.

The bagels and the cream cheese are THE BEST in the Twin Cities...hands down! You'll never go to Bruegger's again after trying this place. The cream cheese is to DIE FOR.

Its a great bagel shop. It has many selections of bagels and cream cheeses. Good smoothie and coffee as well.

My husband and I love this place because of how comfortable it is to hang out for long periods and do work, the delicious smoothies, the hawaiian coffee, the actual espresso machine, and their awesome bagel creations. They always let us suspend our transaction so that we can go eat, work for a while, and come back up to the counter and get refills or whatever else, then pay when we're done working. The employees are great and friendly. They are always playing interesting music or a local sports team's game in the background. They have a turntable hooked up and play classic rock or funk much of the time, as well. Delightful place.

A tiki bar bagel shop? Hilarious. Simply one of the best bagels I've had outside of New York/New Jersey.

What in the hell has happened to this place? I used to stop in and pick up a dozen for meetings, and was consistently impressed with their delicious bagels... the right crustiness, just the right bite. I could hardly believe I was getting such excellent bagels in St. Paul! It's been a few years, tho, so imagine my dismay when I walked in this morning. First, I find they've replaced Dunn Bros coffee with a pretty bland commercial blend professing to be Hawaiian. Then, I order a breakfast sandwich and a dozen to go. although the bagel was toasted, it was a doughy sodden mess! The dozen i picked up are all the same- no crust, just soft, doughy, gooey bread blobs! WHAT HAPPENED?!?! These are worse than those undercooked lumps they try to pass off as bagels at Einsteins or Big City. Incredibly disappointing!! On the plus side, tho, I will say the service was very friendly and efficient, so they can't be faulted for that. Maybe it was an off day- it was raining and super humid when i stopped in... but still. I'm beside myself, and it'll take a fair amount of self-talk to convince me to stop in again and give them another shot.

Stumbled onto the Bagelry during business trip -- after my breakfast meeting ended up as coffee-only -- and found the best bagels this side of NYC! The bagel & egg sandwich was awesome, with a perfectly fried egg on lightly toasted sesame bagel. Grabbed 2 bagels, with their homemade cream cheese, for the road. Those did not last long -- soft but with substance, chewy but not bready. They have obviously worked on the art of bagel-making. Hope I have time to pick up a dozen before heading back to Chicago.

I've gone to St Paul Bagelry a few times off of recommendations from friends. I would have to say that this place has the best bagels in the Twin Cities. The bagels here are light and flavorful, real NYC-style. They have a great selection and unique ones, like the pumpkin spiced bagels in the fall. The cream cheeses are homemade and the quality is far superior to Bruegger's or the other TC chains. Worth the drive from Minneapolis for quality bagels!

An amazing cup of Kona coffee (or Molokai if you like it a bit bolder and stronger) awaits you in this combination coffee shop/bagel bakery/smoothie shop. One thing you'll notice is that the bagels are generously covered both top and bottom with, well, sesame seeds...if you're getting a sesame seed bagel. Often times you just get your "everything" on the top side of the bagel. These bagels are great out of the fridge a few days later too. Can't say that about most other bagels I've tried. Cream cheese is DELISH and their other sweet treats are made from scratch as well. I recommend the Van Dross bagel breakfast sandwich. And if you're the sweet & savory breakfast combo person, try it on a cinnamon sugar bagel. Really! Their suggestion, and they were right. You will wonder if you came to the right place as you walk in the door, as they also sell Hawaiian smoothies and have the decor to prove it. I'll have to give one a try when our warmer Minnesota weather finally arrives. In the meantime, stop by...it's is more than worth it. And also important...don't be in a hurry to get in & out quickly. These folks aren't in a rush to crank out any "fast food" experience for you.

Really good bagels and cream cheese, good breakfast sandwiches. Coffee is average but good enough. My daughter loves the smoothies. Sometimes there is a wait, probably due to the 12" griddle, but never anything major. I love the old soul records they play, too. The neighborhood is lucky that the only bagels nearby are so good.

  • Mike H.

Food is good, however, they move at a snails pace! Long wait time even though they have 6 people working behind the counter.

Stopped in at St. Paul Bagelry yesterday late morning for a breakfast sandwich with my husband before we ran errands. This was our first time and we basically went because we had a coupon and I was curious about it. I got the "Al Green" and the boy got the "Luther Vandross" sandwich...mine was delicious. Whole wheat bagel, cheese, egg and a ton of veggies - tomato, olivies, pickles, jalopenos, lettuce, sprouts ... everything! My husbands was great as well he said - three meats, egg and cheese. Definitely not as healthy as mine, but tasty nevertheless. Appart from the yummy foods, this place is adorable. Its just a tiny place in a strip mall that can be a bit sketch, but when you walk in it's so light and relaxing looking. Plus, they have WiFi. Worth a stop...over and over again.

best bagels ever. Hard to find a better bagel outside NY. No kidding. They toast so nicely, a little crunch on the outside, soft on the inside. So glad I can get them at Mississippi market and now Whole Foods. I need to get up to the physical shop.

Best bagels in Twin Cities, especially like the Everything Bagel. Great selection of smears!

Stopped by the Bagelry for lunch to meet an old roommate. This restaurant is nothing fancy, but it's great for a quick lunch. The bagels are always fresh and they have a great variety of cream cheese. I had the chicken tortilla soup and a multi-grain bagel with apricot almond cream cheese. Next time, I will pass on the soup. It was mostly broth and reminded me of a can of Campbell's soup, definitely not homemade. But the warm, soft bagel made up for the subpar soup. I heard that they also have tasty desserts, though I haven't tried one yet.

  • Noelle H.

Loving the bagel/coffee/smoothie shop so close to my new house! The bagels are delicious - they stay soft and yummy days after you buy them. You can actually see someone in the back making the bagels so you know how fresh they are. The cream cheese is finger lickin good - try the honey walnut. And the hawaiian coffee (in my case ICED coffee) is slurplicious. Haven't tried a smoothie yet but I'm sure my stomach will lead me their as an alternative to jamba juice. Love supporting the local buisness!

  • Colin C.

I'm only giving it 4 stars because I haven't tried lunch yet. But I can say that their breakfast food is great (cream cheese and bagels are awesome!), the service is friendly, and very fast. Just woofed down a plain bagel with egg, swiss, and ham. Definitely hit the spot.

    (4)
  • Ra M.

OK. So I'm guilty of being a bagel fan. And while these bagels *are delicious, I'm taking the time to update my review to four stars because it just hit me when I stopped in for a sandwich recently, that a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with mayo and lettuce should NOT cost $8.xx in MN!!!!!!!!!! Really? Seriously? Come on! I thought we had something, St. Paul Bagelry? I can't afford you even once a week at that price! For a bagel sandwich...? Can I find coupons anywhere? ='( I'm not above shopping with coupons...!

    (4)
  • S M.

I don't like Panera's bagels (they don't put the cream cheese on it and they're just not that great) and do not live near Bruegger's (although their bagels are too small for the price), so when I discovered this place the other day on Yelp, I was very happy. I was satisfied with everything that I got - breakfast bagel & bagel and cream cheese. I will definitely be going back.

    (5)
  • Noelle B.

Great bagels, love their breakfast sandwiches. The Isaac Hayes is as delicious as it is unhealthy. The reason I don't give 5 stars is their operating hours - they close at 2pm. With the constant hum of vinyl records and good coffee (and proximity to my house), it would have been my top choice of places to hunker down and get some work done, but my preferential coffee place working hours are in the afternoon or evening, unfortunately.

    (4)
  • Sue M.

Great food! The day-old bagels are fantastic and the best deal in town. $2.50 for a pack of six which is sort of amazing given how great the quality is. I grab a couple of packs and stick them in the freezer at work- my little bagel hoard from St. Paul Bagelry provides tasty breakfasts every day of the week!

    (5)
  • Katie O.

I've been there a few times and love it! The pizza bagel is the best and the Pina cola da smoothie is my favorite The only complaint I really have is that the online ordering needs to be updated.

  • Jennifer C.

Don't go here in a hurry in the morning if you want coffee, they are CONSISTENTLY out. I keep coming back anyway... good vibes.

  • Lee P.

Very good bagel sandwiches with excellent mild lox and homemade cream cheese. Not having egg bagels made me very sad, however, as it's hard for me to take a bagelry seriously without them. There must not be enough Jewish people in the area I guess. Otherwise a very good choice.

This little storefront would be easy to miss. Indeed, I've driven by the shopping center in which it is located several times. But I only noticed it for the first time the other day. I'd heard good things about the St. Paul Bagelry and decided to stop in. I got four bagels and a tub of bacon and chive cream cheese to go. Even in the afternoon, the bagels were delicious -- moist on the inside, crunchy on the outside, with great flavor and toothsomeness (mmmm). My husband went wild over the garlic bagel I brought him. Garlic bagels are typically his favorite and this one came crusted with an abundance of little garlic crystals. My everything bagel was equally as good with toppings sprinkled on both sides of the bagel. Yum! The bacon and chive cream cheese was both unique and delicious. Great for the bacon lover in your life! I did see that the bagelry offers your normal variety of bagel sandwiches, soups and lunch options. But for me, bagel and cream cheese is the best test, and they passed with flying colors. I doubt we'll make many special trips up to Roseville for this shop but if we are in the area, you can bet we'll be stopping by.

This place is wonderful. I love it. The records and the turntable are so cool. Yes I am over 50 but so what. The food is great. They even have whole grain and pumpernickel along with many other bagels, what more could you want? The food is just wonderful. Every chance we get we eat here. I do not eat bagels any where else.

  • Dan B.

I love a good bagel. Don't even care if you pronounce it wrong as long as it tastes great. Unfortunately, it is clear to me that not all bagels are created equal. It's difficult to create that slightly crisp, chewy outer shell with a doughy soft center. Too often I come across bagels that are hard as a rock, or so doughy they're stuck to the roof of your mouth for several days. I've tried bagels everywhere, and more often than not have been disappointed. Therefore, I have stopped trying. When I want a really good bagel I head straight to the Saint Paul Bagelry. There is no other bagel shop I've tried in the Twin Cities that is so consistently good. Perfectly baked bagels, made from scratch cream cheese, and even Maui Wauwi smoothies and coffee if you are so inclined. This has becomes a regular weekend stop for Sara and me, and I was appalled when I realized that I hadn't posted about it. The wife and I like to get out early on the weekend and do our grocery shopping before the store is full of knuckleheads, and every couple weeks I will have a craving - so a stop at Saint Paul Bagelry takes place. Like every bagel shop you've ever been too, Saint Paul Bagelry has all the traditional bagel flavors (Blueberry, Onion, Salt, Wheat, and my favorite: Everything), but they also have a couple unique offerings like Caramel Apple, Hawaiian, and Jalapeno Cheese. Same is true with the cream cheese. You can get plain or strawberry, but they also have Cherry Chocolate Chip and Spinach Cucumber Dill. There are tons of options, but my favorite items on the menu are the breakfast bagel sandwiches. They have a good selection of bagels sandwiches for any type of day, but I think their breakfast options are their "calling card". I love the apply named "Luther Vandross." Egg, bacon, sausage, ham, and cheddar on the bagel of your choice. This sandwich contributes to my fatness on a bi-weekly basis. If you are not into pork, pork, and pork you may enjoy the "Al Green." Egg, cheese, and every veggie they have. It's really tasty. Seriously, believe it or not, I did try it once! Finally, if you're looking for buttery, bacony goodness you have to get the "Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul." Egg, bacon, provolone, on a BUTTERED bagel. Wicked good. That's what I'm eating in the pictures (I added sausage - I'm such a fat kid). You make be thinking, "Why are all these sandwiches named after a great soul singer?" It's because the owner has great taste in music. They have a turntable in back - that's right I said turntable- and a crate of records they play through out the day. Sweet soul, tiki hut Polynesian, classic country, and even a little funk. It's all good stuff. The music is the biggest reason I never get my food to go. Now you may be thinking, "Most Ridic there is no way that bagel can compare to the one I get at The Wedge every Saturday morning!" And if that's the case you need to read the label, you Stoner Hippie. Saint Paul Bagelry supplies several Co-ops with bagels and cream cheese. Whole Foods, Mississippi Market, Eastside, Seward, Linden Hills, and of course The Wedge all get bagels from Saint Paul Bagelry. Bottom line: go there, eat and love their bagels because they are hands down the best in the Twin Cities. P.S. If anyone makes a comment about how good Breugger's Bagels are, I will de-friend you in every sense of the word, because you have horrible taste.

Brian R. and I want to love this place, but each time something holds us back. It's great for kids bc they offer board books and old school Duplo Legos for ur tot to stay entertained. Brian was in lalaland with the vinyl selection and had to peruse through to see what they had. The food and beverage is awesome. Their cream cheese is phenomenal. Fresh made right there. Tons of different bagel sandwich selections and buzzworthy coffee blends, plus smoothies. However, the storefront needs a deep cleaning. The staff half love their job, the others no so much. When we ordered our sandwiches the two men who took our order chatted with us and had an open discussion about modifications to our order. After this discussion tho the sandwich came out without any of the things we talked about. Different workers made it, but were right there as we spoke. Brian's sandwich contained one piece of green pepper and two onion slices. Not exactly what u expect to see and my coffee order was incorrect, but was still very good. With the dozen bagels we were asked if we wanted them sliced or not. Sliced please, so I don't have to, but when we went to eat them the next morning they were cut like a amateur. Crusty little bottom with over 3/4th of the bagel on top. Now, I worked at Bruegger's in high school so I know its not that hard, but does take the slightest attention to knife placement. All 13 bagels were cut like that. Lastly, we were sitting in a booth and I had Pheona between me and the wall. She's a toddler, and wiggles; a lot. Quickly she knocked a picture slightly above shoulder level, which immediately fell. To my surprise it broke open reveling a real glass cover and looking at the wall I see one little nail holding it up. Seriously guys, didn't u get the memo to bolt these things down like every other establishment. St. Paul bagelry, u have a good thing going, you just need to tighten some screws.

I really like this place. I usually order their Club sandwich and I HAVE TO ORDER THEIR BANANA-MOCHA SMOOTHIE! TO DIE FOR! :) The place is known for their bagels and make sure you order their cream cheese-honey walnut. Fast service and friendly staffs. The only thing is they are kinda $$.

I Will Return to this place. I try to limit my bagel consumption to an every other month treat given how unhealthy they are (equivalent to 4 slices of bread, i read). This place was clean and had an excellent variety of bagels and spreads. Build your own bagel sandwich and ample dining space add to the appeal. I was in and out within 10 minutes....which might have to do with my ability to scarf a bagel in practically zero minutes. Seriously, I'm a pig...you don't wanna know.

They have delicious bagels and excellent home made cream cheese. The food is much better than bruegers. Service can be a little bit slow but it's not a problem.

Let me begin with this tidbit: I LOVE bagels. I have been known to eat three meals a day consisting of only bagels. Does that make me disgusting? Probably. Do I care? Not so much. St. Paul Bagelry's bagels are all natural, made daily, and are free of preservatives. Some people care about such things, but I just care about the texture, flavor and freshness of my bagels. Luckily, St. Paul Bagelry has their bagel down to a perfect science. The bagels have a nice, chewy outer layer filled with a soft, doughy, carbalicious center. PERFECT. If you order a bagel such as garlic, onion, or salt be prepared to encounter a messy bagel. They cram as much garlic, onion or salt on the top of the bagel as they can. It's delicious but you'll look pigish if you munch it n your way to work. Just dust yourself off before you clock in and you're good to go! Finally, their cream cheese is divine. I know, I am such a chunky monkey that I not only eat a gluttonous amount of bagels (My rump is lucky that I rarely buy bagels but when I do... yikes!) but I slather them with cream cheese as well. These fools make their own cream cheese and add REAL ingredients to them. Bacon and chive? YEAH, YEAH, real BACON and fresh chives. Answer me this: when was the last time that your chive cream cheese didn't have brownish "chives"? Prices are a tiny bit high. Big whoop when ya get such a great product. Go to the Bagelry if you're in need of a dozen bagels or a pre-work snack. Tip: They do have coupons in some flyers that come in the mail, too!

Bagels are great, prices are a little better than Brueggers. The kids loved it, and thought it was cool they were able to get a Mowi Wowi smoothie with their bagel sandwich! This is a busy place, but they do fairly well. We got our egg and bagel sandwiches and they were hot.

I am so happy I stumbled upon this hidden gem. I walked in and was immediately swept off my feet when I saw they had Kona coffee. I then was deeply in love and committed when I got my pumpernickel bagel sandwich w/ egg and a ton of veggies. This wasn't just one leaf of baby spinach and a sliver of tomato- No this was awesome- it was sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and olives. I have vowed to go back very very very soon!

Consistently on the top of Dara Moscowitz (of City Pages) list of bagels places in the cities for good reason: fresh made, authentic, home made cream cheeses, all in a family run joint that now serves Hawaiian coffee. I haven't bought a single bagel from anyplace else since we moved into the neighborhood. I don't plan on it any time soon.

    (4)
  • Marguerite S.

I omit the last star only because it seems on some days the bagels can be a little bit thin, but other than that, really consistently a-mazing. I never stray from my usual, garlic bagel(loaded with chopped crispy garlic as well as being filled with garlic) w/ garlic cream cheese. My breath smells forever afterwards but one must suffer for true deliciousness.
