Great selection, family run place. Quiet atmosphere, lovely place. Come here often with my mom.

My wife and I returned here after really enjoying it a month prior. This time we went on a Sunday at noon. The price was about $2.00 higher (over $10 this time+tax each). I had rated it a 4 last time, this time I have to give it a 3 due to extra 25% price, less flavor/unique items as previous. Again, my wife chose a lot of the Sushi and still loved the selection of that. However this time I was much more disappointed in the selection on the warm buffet, as well as the flavoring. The previous time we had some unique items compared to other local buffets, this time there was fewer unique things, other than the Squid (yuck :( ). But what there was really wasn't overly well flavored and everything was relatively bland, a definite difference from a month earlier. We still had a good enough lunch but for the extra price, it would have been better heading to the King House instead in downtown Fargo for a better more flavorful meal, but at the admitted lack of sushi selection that the China Buffet definitely excels at compared to all of the other buffets in town.

Came here because I had a coupon and I was feeling too lazy to cook. The coupon also included the words sushi and I thought "yum" I will give it a try. Decor was sad and falling down in spots but come on, dives can have some great food so lets give it a go. Food was typical of a Chinese buffet, but not anything special and in some cases pretty gross looking. For example the "sushi" was really just California style rolls that looked like they had been out for more then a day. The dessert section included a chocolate fountain...sounds good but there was some hygiene issues that kept me from that as well as the ice cream cooler. Weird right?! No soft-serve ice cream, they want you to dip your own ice cream from a cooler. That to me (hygiene-wise) is worse then sharing a bowl of peanuts at a bar with strangers. No Thanks and I won't go back.

This buffet was horrible! The food was barely warm. I seriously think it was a health hazard. I tried a wide variety and nothing, I repeat, NOTHING was freshly cooked. It was all barely warm. And there was 10 to 12 tables in the restaurant eating too. I mean it wasn't like I was alone. I will not be going back. Not I actually installed yelp on my phone to write this review. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!! FOR YOUR HEALTH!!! Just my opinion. But seriously, there are rules for a reason. And I know that food was not being kept hot so they could leave it out longer and save money. But someone is going to get hurt. And you don't want it to be you. Or your kids. So stay away.

5-19-13 8:50 p.m. I MENT TO POST & FORGOT. SORRY :-) Arrived 80 minutes before closing. 1/2 the buffet food was gone or dried up. I paid FULL price yet I'm only offered 1/2 of what I paid for. 5 minutes after we arrived they took down the dessert & sushi bar. They were vacumming, cleaning too. 30 minutes before closing they took down the buffet lines & while my daughter was away from our table an employee come over & took her plate of food without asking if she was finished, which she wasn't. We left 30 minutes before the China Buffet closed. I feel that if you advertise being open till 10 p.m. you should have the same amount of food & be set up the same as any other time during the day. You DO NOT take down the buffet's untill closing time! It's disrespectful to the customers & very unprofessional. Julie S.

Probably the last Chinese buffet we've tried...and apparently for good reason. I walked in and took a look at the buffet months ago and gave it a pass. Finally, we gave it a try and that'll probably never happen again. There is a very small variety of food. Most other buffets have probably a dozen more items than this place. The food itself was very, very cold. I'm not one to usually even complain if the food is luckwarm or room temperature...but this stuff was legit cold. Perhaps it's when we went??...at 5PM? On top of being cold, the food simply wasn't good. I wasn't even sure if the sweet and sour chicken was chicken because it was overcooked and tasted like a sloppy mush. The other items had been sitting there for quite a while and became absolutely tasteless. The pineapple was orange and flavorless. Even the ice cream had no flavor. On our way out we grabbed a fortune cookie...which was old as well. On the bright side, our 11 month old loved the stale fortune cookies...so there's that...

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
