Looks can be deceiving! I had initially judged this restaurant by the slightly kitschy exterior but it received a glowing recommendation from our host. We were pleasantly surprised by the good food and ambience and great prices! The Bloody Mary was surprisingly delicious and spicy - topped with a hot pickle - and way boozier than expected. The chicken salad - which I got with their delicious pulled pork instead - had a tasty dressing and generous amounts of avocado! Our waitress was funny and helpful and accommodating. Great family joint!

Dry rub ribs doesn't mean dried out ribs. This is not a good time to drive away your old customer base. The new CEO should eat at Minnetonka location to get some insight why sales are declining.

BBQ just calls my name! I seriously crave ribs! There are only 2 places I would go in the TC's for ribs...famous Dave's and the other one that starts with an R. The only issue I have with this location is the consistency. The ribs can be out of this world, but they can also be dry. Minnetonka you need to figure this out... Please! Service is good, and a friendly family atmosphere. I would like to see a step up in wine, but I can always order something else.

Loved the ribs, cornbread and fries. Brisket was dry. Service was good, nice atmosphere.

Had an early Father's Day dinner at Famous Dave's off Hwy 7 in Minnetonka. We were seated immediately and service was prompt and courteous. My mom and I shared a half rack of baby back ribs and it came with two sides and corn bread (yum!). My hubby got a half rack of St. Louis style ribs (meatier than the baby backs), brisket, 2 sides and corn bread. My daughter ordered the kids meal cheeseburger with corn on the cob and my son ordered the mac and cheese kids meal with a side of grilled pineapple. I love that they have so many choices for their sides. Especially on the kids meal menu. Some of the sides include fresh veggies, fruit, corn on the cob and the obligatory French fries. Total bill with tip came up to $60, so it's not the best value in town, but for a chain BBQ place, it ain't bad.

So I've been living under a rock. I'm sure I've seen signs for Famous Dave's but for some reason nothing ever spark me to ever go. Well, when I was in Minnesota my friends had suggested checking this place since it was close to their home and with a toddler in tow, driving far in the evening probably wasn't the wisest thing to do since it was going to past his bedtime. I wanted Minnesota local food and since it was founded here in Minnesota I was game. Was also intrigued to also learn from my friends that Famous Dave is actually Native American and I had to support since how many Native American business do you know of? Parking was easy and the wait was only 10 minutes. Staff was very friendly (Minnesota norm) and helpful. My friend's 2 year loves the corn bread muffins and they don't disappoint. As an appetizer we ordered the Burnt Ends, which were tender but my favorite was the Southside Rib Tips, so juicy and flavorful and I really like their pickled red onions. The ribs were okay but I tried all of their sauces but my favorite was the classic Rich and Sassy. Our two sides was Wilbur beans and Dave's Cheesy Mac & Cheese, which were decent. Do wish they gave more. And I didn't find the Mac and Cheese spicy at all. Definitely, will get some rib tips for the fam now that this clueless one knows there's one in my hometown. Hopefully their staff is just like the staff here, I know wishful thinking.

We're from Chicago, the food capital of the Midwest, so we go out to eat A LOT. Nicole's service blew all the Chicago servers we've had out of the water. So attentive, sweet and gave great recommendations. Thanks Nicole! We know where to come next time were in town.

I have been to other Famous Dave's many times but this is my first visit to this location. Our waiter had several other tables (some high maintenance) but he gave us excellent service! The food was great, as it always is, and the service made the experience that much better.

I really like Dave's, we usually make it here every few months, I agree with the other reviewers that the ribs can be hit and miss and the service is pretty good. We had a long day and we hit this place for Dinner in a great mood last monday eve at 7:55pm before they try to rush you out to close the place for the evening, our wonderful 'in other reviews' server ------ introduced herself and we ordered a couple tall beers and an app, as our app arrived we noticed we just missed happy hour pricing at 8:00 (we didn't need to save a dollar on a drink or app) our server did not tell us to wait a minute for a discount when we ordered, no problem though, so I asked if they still had HH appetizer specials, and our answer from ------ our server was A. sorry they stopped that a few months back or B. NO!!!!! answer is B. NO!!!! this answer kinda shocked us as we giggled as she walked away. we knew at this point we would not be eating dinner here this evening, she came back to take our dinner order and we told her we were ready for our check, also a former Mcdonalds executive has taken over as CEO of Dave's and a lot of the stuff on the walls is missing and the Blues music is gone as we heard The Who (my generation) as one of the background songs wow, we left and went to the Gold Nugget and had a great meal, our server at Dave's can do the math a $2.50 vs $12.00 tip.

The little known tip: try the nachos with pulled pork. Great!!! The two meat platter is large enough for two to split for an inexpensive dinner! We split the rip tips and brisket with two sides. Early dining menu in effect till 5:30p gives lunch pricing on meals you can enjoy for an early dinner at great prices!

My colleague and I were starving on our road trip up from the Twin Cities and saw this place, which neither of us had ever heard of. Although I've been a Californian for 20 years, I'm originally from Kansas City and so I can be a bit of a BBQ 'snob'. So I wasn't expecting much from the food but I have to say that we were both pleased. My colleague (from NYC) got the pulled pork sandwich and I got the St Louis RIbs plate with garlic mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. I thought it would only be so-so, but it was darn good, I have to say. Plus, the price was very reasonable. Apparently this is a chain so I'll have to keep my eyes out for these, which apparently are an upper Midwest chain. Not bad at all!

Great tasting food but a little expensive. I always remember their ribs as tasting better than they are and have a bit of "buyers remorse" after I eat them - not because of the health aspects, but more because their quality is so inconsistent - sometimes tender, sometimes not, sometimes over charred. And their sides are always a little bland. On top of the food - which is the same at all locations - it seems this location needs to work on a better system for tracking orders. We called to order carryout - "ready in 15 minutes" we were told - great I thought and headed right over. When I got there to the very busy, very crowded restaurant, I heard "not ready yet, should just be a couple of minutes" - no problem I thought, they are pretty busy. The server at the carryout counter was only too happy to take my credit card and get that out of the way. About 20 minutes later the young lady seemed to have forgotten all about me, so I re-approached her and she went back to check. She seemed to be on a scavenger hunt, searching for my order and after another 5 minutes or so, found the order among the pile of carryout orders - which was in the pile that had been sitting there the whole time. A feeble "sorry" just didn't seem to cut it after a 30-minute standing room only wait. Probably not heading back to see them anytime soon.

Finally serving decent corn on the cob, they have added a good HOT sauce too. It made the feast for four 4 stars, if they added smoked links to the feast it would be 5 stars

My friends and I just went to this Famous Dave's for the first time yesterday. We were celebrating two birthdays and liked that this location was a little out of the way and less busy than other FD's that I have been to. At about 10pm there weren't many other people, maybe only two or three other groups of people. Our group got a little loud, so it was nice not to have to worry about bothering too many customers. The waitresses were very nice. They greeted us and got our drink orders right away; however getting them to us took a bit longer. On the other hand they took out food orders when the drinks came and the food was out to us very quickly. Once the food was out they didn't check on us for refills until last call, so that could have been better. But when they did check on us they got us what we wanted right away. The food was done very well. My chicken was thoroughly cooked and the fries were crispy. Their cornbread muffins are some of the best that I have had and the rootbeer floats are huge! I had two vodka crans, the country roasted chicken with cornbread, fries and garlic mashed potatoes, corn and a rootbeer float. With about a 20% tip my meal was $36. As you can see, this is not an everyday meal. The price makes it better for special occasions or a once-in-a-while treat.

Pretty decent lunch, food was tasty, service was fast. Only problem that was resolved quickly was that I ordered a Dr. Pepper and received a Pepsi. Pricing was decent from the lunch part of the menu also.
