High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Without question, Burch is deserving of the accolades it is receiving. I need to go back and try other items on the menu, but I've seen and experienced enough already to give it two thumbs up. To me it is nothing short of amazing that this classy establishment sits on the same location as once did a forgotten-about relic of a drugstore. With Sebastian Joe's across the street and Liqour Lyle's kitty corner, this space deserved a tenant that paid homage to the history of the intersection, and Burch does that and then some. The atmosphere is one that has you saying "I love it" immediately after entering. I ate downstairs, which had its own cozy, comfortable feel (it initially looked crowded when descending the stairs, but then after sitting down I never felt crammed in). The pizza I ordered was cooked just right with the sauce, cheese and toppings blending together flawlessly. Prior to that, we had dumplings (lamb stroganoff, amazing), brussel sprouts (a definite winner), and drinks. Being a fan of manhattans, I ordered a couple of those, and wow. They are made with Makers and taste just like a manhattan should, strong but not overpowering. The service is perhaps Burch's best attribute. I could tell the server was legitimately proud of the menu and his opportunity to work there. He gladly gave us the menu tour and offered us recommendations based on our personal preferences. He was attentive throughout our visit but not overbearing. I have a feeling this place will be around a long time. A+.

Great food! Pizza and dumplings!!! However, be prepared the wonderful food is overshadowed by a really loud environment which took away from the overall experience. I won't go back for dinner, rather more of a happy hour stop. And be prepared to confirm your reservation the day of...which was annoying.

Our party of 5 ate in the downstairs pizza bar last night. 2 pizzas, 2 sides and 2 desserts.... Loved the Funghi pizza best! The lobster claw pizza was good too. Would get them both again. The sides we tried: 1) asparagus with poached egg : I was surprised both were chilled as the menu says grilled. Also strongly flavored with anchovies. Would not get again as the asparagus was thin and limp and gloppy with too much dressing. 2) shrimp, green beans and potatoes: this was room temp and had a zing of spice to it. Really pretty too! We all enjoyed the coconut cake and the rhubarb polenta cake. They are small though so we got one bite of each.... I liked the modern look of the pizza bar, but the noise that others mention is definitely an issue. Even though we were in a booth with a little higher sides, we had to shout to be heard. Not pleasant. Also, the service is on the slow side, so don't come starving or without plenty of time to spare.

Went to the steak house so I cannot comment on the pizza noise level. Great food but horribly loud. He cannot hear yourself much less the people next to you without yelling. I will never return. With both IPhone and Samsung measured between 84-87 dB throughout the meal. At 87 dB UK OSHA requires hearing protection. hse.gov.uk/Noise/employe… Do not go for business meeting.

This place was really good. I'm not even a big meat person, but we had a seafood entree that was amazing. It's certainly a little spendy, but there were reasonable options on the wine list & even some adorable little dessert bites for (I think) only like 25 or 50 cents - and seriously who needs more than a bite after a big delicious meal like that? We had one of the nicest date nights we've had since moving from Chicago. Our server was very nice as well. It seemed trendy without being pretentious in terms of the atmosphere. It was comfortable and classy. I really liked the interior decor & would definitely go again. I'm gluten intolerant & they were knowledgeable and helpful with that as well.

In the words of Ice Cube, "If ya scared, go to Burch." This is a great spot when you're looking to get a little fancy. Some of the clientele is a little too "Real Housewives of Minneapolis" (can someone start that show? I'm picturing a huge cat fight at Patina) for me and the menu is maybe a little snobby, but dayyyumn, the food is good. The atmosphere too- warehouse-y and hipster with a great soundtrack (Fugees... Oh yes). Let's start out with the drinks: I had some kind of tequila absinthe craziness suggested by my server and then an old fashioned that had been infused with apples. They were obviously good, in that they tasted delicious for being straight alcohol and got me tipsy. On par with Marvel, Icehouse, Parlour. The food was great, too. We started out with the dumplings. Schupfnudel, walnut, and Gorgonzola. My date was vegetarian which is usually a huge buzzkill for me... But surprisingly not at this spot. Melt in your mouth goodness. Reminded me a bit of the gnocchi at Bar La Grassa (another Isaac Becker institution that I'm an even bigger fan of). My steak was delicious, especially since it came with pickled mushrooms and a perfect Bearnaise sauce that I would happily swim in a pool of, like that lady's last dying spaghetti wish in Patch Adams. The pizza was good but nothing out of the ordinary, but maybe it was the toppings- arugula, goat cheese... (Stuff white people like). Pretty much tasted like something from Punch, and for a lot more. For dessert we got the pear galette with foie gras ice cream, which is completely unnecessary for ice cream but extremely delicious and decadent as desserts should be. Overall- I'm impressed! It's pricey, yes, and it definitely isn't going to become a spot I'm a regular at. But for a celebration or just to treat yo self? All in for Burch as an option. I do think I prefer BLG though- better service, better food, and a better atmosphere. One last tip: when making a reservation, request to sit upstairs. They serve both menus and the space is a lot cooler. Enjoy!

The meat is unreal Trendy - exposed brick, I like Marry me please Burch -Katie M., master haiku writer, January 2014 In all seriousness, I couldn't fit everything I love about Burch in 5-7-5 format so let me elaborate. 1. Atmosphere - you can really dress this place up or down. The main floor has exposed brick and lights that are reminiscent of crystal balls. I have yet to see the basement's decor. Burch feels like a classy establishment when you walk in, but it's not one of those places where you second guess your outfit choice (unless you look like a total scrub...then...I'm not responsible for your poor choices). 2. Food (OBVI) - Here's what I've tried: -Grass fed Hanger steak - YES. Just YES. -Charred brussels sprout salad with frisee, pancetta, chevre, sherry vinaigrette - I never wanted this to end, nor did I want to share it. We split it between 3 of us, but I would suggest only splitting between 2. -Belgian endives, buttermilk, blue cheese, bacon - only tried a bite and the endives were admittedly bitter, but our waiter did warn us of that :) -Grilled button mushrooms, bacon, herbs - perfectly grilled in some world-changing sauce with a dusting of bacon that adds the perfect crunch -Roasted carrots, thyme, chevre - Do you love goat cheese? Because I love goat cheese. Order this. -Flourless chocolate torte - gluten free and served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream -$0.25 "treats" - For a quarter you can order a small dessert like a macaroon or chocolate 3. Service - attentive, charming, and informed Because it was my birthday my dad asked that my chocolate torte be brought out with a candle. When it was presented sans candle (not by our server) he returned and said he would be comping for the mistake - which wasn't necessary but a very kind gesture. Also, being that we hit nearly record lows (-45 or something crazy?) I cracked the joke "Mother Nature gave me the best present of all!" insinuating that the shitty weather was my present. He politely laughed and 10 minutes later came back and told me he originally thought I had been referencing my looks. Since when is Mother Nature about genetics and not weather?! Funny misunderstanding; even though he thought I was some pompous birthday snob, he played along ;) Don't crack any jokes about your looks, just to be safe. This is a long review but Burch deserves it - A+!

Visited Burch Steak on a Tuesday evening with visiting family looking for a good steak because in her words "Australian restaurants do an appalling job at cooking not very good steak." Our table of 4 shared the 32oz. grass fed and corn finished Ribeye from Niman Ranch and sides including Rapini Risotto, Schupfnudel dumplings, Potato Pierogi, Cheese Dumplings with Lamb stroganoff, Roasted Cauliflower and the Roasted Carrots with Thyme and Chevre. We finished our meal with Lemon tart and Flourless Chocolate Cake. I'll start with the outstanding. The steak was a beautiful piece of meat, perfectly cooked to medium rare and well seasoned. The sauces served with the steak were unnecessary and forgettable except for the very sour pickled mushrooms which do not belong with steak at all. The Schupfnudel and Rapini Risotto and Carrots were truly delicious. I would be happy to eat them on their own every day of my life. A quality that is all too rare in steak house sides. Dessert was very good but not outstanding. The food got four stars The Potato Pierogi was judged too sweet to go with anything else on the table, the roasted cauliflower was fine but forgettable and the Cheese dumplings with Lamb Stroganoff were not very appealing. The whole dish tastes very neutral and non-specific with no hint that the crumbly pieces of brown in the sauce is lamb. Service was just right, attentive but not intrusive and our waiter was helpful in navigating the menu for the vegetarian at the table. I also liked the great ffood in a less formal atmosphere. We had an 11 year old with us and she was not out of place nor the only child in the restaurant. Now for the bad. Burch Steak is so loud I could not hear my daughter speaking to me across the table and really could only converse with the person sitting next to me. I am aware that ultra-loud restaurants where it is not possible to speak to each other over dinner is the trend but it is a trend that must end.

We had dined here once upstairs a few years ago and it was a memorable meal. This last time, at 5pm on a saturday was more "meh." Got there right at 5pm, we did not have a reservation: the upstairs (both sides) were basically empty. The hostess told us they had no room...It's hard to believe they leave no room for walk-ins upstairs at 5pm. At 7pm, I would agree. So we went downstairs into the freezing cold basement. Our server saved the day. He was really nice, knowledgable and made our meal special. The food was not as delicious as the previous time but it was pretty good. Again, acknowledging the difference between 5pm at the dot when they open on a saturday and later, you can't expect customers to completely buy that you are fully committed at that time when the restaurant is actually empty.

Superb food in a classy yet casual atmosphere. I haven't had better steak. I wanted a smaller steak and the waiter recommended the Prime Beef Hanger steak. It was simply done, with olive oil and salt and pepper. However the quality and texture of the meat was unsurpassed and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a good char on the outside, something that is difficult to impossible to duplicate at home. It was fun to watch them cook the steaks above the open fire and lower and raise the grill on a pulley system. We also shared the Schupfnudel Dumplings, SO good, My boyfriend had the Tallegio stuffed chicken. He said it was good, but nothing like my steak. I had the Lemon Tart for desert. I don't usually order a lemon desert, but I had already eaten rich things so anything else was sounding too rich. It came with a meringue topping that I loved and I usually hate meringue. He had the bread pudding, which was warm and delicately spiced with a custard like texture. We went to celebrate our one year dating anniversary and I was going to relegate the place to special occasion only, however, after we ate, we discovered that there is a basement eating area, where they cook the pizza. It looks very cave, like in an inviting kind of way. It was full of locals and had a more casual atmosphere, but you can still order the full menu. We will definitely be back and most likely try their pizza and more varieties of dumplings. They also have a seed salad that sounds interesting. I really don't have anything negative to say, the service was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. The only think I would change in the future is the pacing of our starters and entrees as they came out a little to close to one another. But that is easily fixed, next time I will ask for a slower pace.

Yesterday was my guy's birthday and when I asked him what he wanted to do about his birthday dinner, he immediately said: "Steak." It was between Burch and Butcher & the Boar but ultimately Burch won because by the time we went to make reservations, Butcher & the Boar was booked up and Burch still had room. Neither of us had been yet so we were both excited to check it out and of course I looked on Yelp as well as talked to my mom and others who had been in order to get the scoop on what we should try! Burch offers $7 valet parking but we were able to find our own free parking spot on the street just across from the door. We showed up for our 7PM reservations (on a Thursday evening) and the place was PACKED. The restaurant itself is pretty enormous (and we didn't even check out the downstairs), but we literally sat at one of two vacant tables. Glad we made the reservations! After reading about the drinks on Yelp, I went with a Manhattan and my guy ordered an Old Fashioned. We traded sips and both were good, but the second round of drinks (which came much later) were even better: I had a Spicy Margarita made with grapefruit juice...it had a great punch and I love grapefruit in margaritas as it cuts some of the overbearing sweetness that often occurs. Birthday boy had a cocktail made with absinthe and served in a martini glass. I don't recall the name but it was spectacular! For an appetizer, we took my mom's recommendation and split the Antipasti Board. For $15, we got an array of delicious samples: mushroom pate, candied nuts, chevre-stuffed pepper, deviled egg, bloody beer oyster shooters (2), cheese, and steak tartare. This was served with crackers and there was already a small plate of assorted breads brought out with our drinks so I sampled the mushroom pate on both bread and crackers. The tartare was disappointingly bland according to my guy, but everything else was superb! I risked a stomach ache and tried some of the chevre-stuffed pepper - absolutely worth it. If you are looking for an appetizer here, I seriously suggest getting this to share. Burch started out with rules about where you could order pizza versus where you could order steak, but they've since lifted those restrictions so my birthday guy was able to order his two favorite foods in one sitting: a steak AND a pizza. He went with a more modest cut (both in size and in price/quality) but said it was cooked perfectly medium-rare as he'd requested. It came with three different sauces, one of which had mushrooms, garlic, and olive oil - which I put on some of my pizza because he is not a mushroom fan and it was absolutely to die for! My pizza, by the way, was the "Tonno Diavolo: spicy raw ahi tuna, endive, cilantro" - and was okay, but a bit bland and thus disappointing considering it is the most expensive pizza on the menu. I did not notice any real spice to the tuna and it benefitted greatly from the mushroom/garlic/oil. My guy's pizza was a "Calabrese: calabrian pepperoni, hot peppers, mozzarella" but he chose to have bufala mozzarella instead of traditional (for a fee). He ate the steak first (as the kitchens are separate so timing is different) and by the time his pizza arrived, he was only able to make room for two slices and packed up the rest. He did say the slices were fantastic, though. We had gone to happy hour elsewhere prior to dinner and were too stuffed for dessert (plus, I baked him cupcakes that were waiting at home anyway) but their selection sounded great. Overall, we left happy and stuffed! It is absolutely a splurge location (unless you're JUST coming for pizza and avoiding steak/drinks) but it's a worthwhile location to head if you're looking to drop some dough on a celebratory meal.

This review is a bit mixed. The server was good, if a but over-descriptive of the menu for the most foodie of our group (me). Others might have needed it, but I wouldn't describe grass fed beef as more "gamey." Still, attentive and engaged is good. As for the food, the sea bean salad with crab was delicious. As were the sides of mushrooms and cauliflower with buratta. My grass fed strip was perfectly medium rare and delicious too, even if the cut did not really look "New York". Well conceived and well executed. Unfortunately, the two filets, one grass fed and one standard, both came out well under the requested temp. They would have been great for me, but you can't serve rare/medium rare to customers who order medium. And as much as you want to, you can't re-fire a rare steak to get it to medium without way overdoing the outside of the steak. To their credit, they recognized the error and tried to compensate. But if you are a steak house, your main job is to get the temperature right. They did not for two out of three steaks. And it was not at all cheap. We may try it again, because there were things to like, but they need to do better, especially for the steep price.

Had an absolute lovely dinner at Burch last night. I had the Niman Sirloin and hubby had Creekstone Ribeye. They were both divine! The Pommes Poutine was perfect silky savory side. I will be dreaming of this food. Our waitress was graceful and informative in her suggestions & descriptions. Such a wonderful experience!

Ordered the ribeye for two and also the Schupfnudel dumplings and they were both super delicious. The steak was superb (we've asked for medium rare and it was cooked perfectly). Our dumpling was equally as delicious and has a nice bite/texture to it. I would skip the kale next time since it was just alright. Service was excellent! We were quite stuffed but managed to order a couple of tiny truffle desserts for just a quarter each! They were just a perfect ending to our meal. We went on a Saturday evening and the place was really busy and a tad loud so it was a bit difficult to hear conversations. But overall, still a very enjoyable dining experience and we will be back for the steak and dumplings.

I love the concept of Burch - steak up top and pizza in the basement. The atmosphere on both levels is great, very modern and minimalist, yet inviting. The basement has purposeful unfinished touches (exposed ceiling, concrete floors), but in no way feels like a scary basement. The layout upstairs is open and spacious, modern with clean lines; the view near the window are great for people-watching, but you kind of feel like you are in a fish bowl with passersby peeking in. The Pizza - (I'd rate closer to 4 stars) - Ordered 2 pies and a few appetizers (bone marrow and marinated prawns). I'd never had bone marrow before, but loved the flavor - very earthy like mushrooms, yet fatty and delicious. The prawn was tasty, but maybe a bit steep in price ($3 for one). The pizzas served are thin crust, doughy and chewy. Never had a crust quite like it before. Ordered the Coppa Cotta and the Funghi pizza. Great toppings, but I'm always left wanting more on thin crust pizzas and Burch was no exception. Maybe a tad bit overpriced for a pie, but worth giving a shot. The Steak (5 stars!) - If you're not a steak connoisseur, the steak menu can be confusing. They offer a variety of types of steak (ribeye, sirloin, etc...). And if deciding which type to order isn't difficult enough, they also offer three different quality levels: grass fed, natural, and prime. Ask your server for a recommendation. Ordered the natural beef sirloin, which was tender and delicious, but was surprised by the presentation, or should I say lack thereof. You get a steak by itself on a plate. It comes with dipping sauces and "palate-cleansing" marinated mushrooms on the side though (loved the Bearnaise sauce, hated the mushrooms and the steak sauce, which had an overpowering molasses taste). Also ordered the broiled prawns; so good! Loved the brown butter sauce they were drizzled in (also made for an excellent steak-dipping sauce). And the grilled button mushrooms? Fantastic! Some of the best mushrooms I've ever eaten and further proof that bacon makes everything better.

Pricey. I would expect the steak (ribeye) to be cooked to perfection, but ended up being under seasoned and undercooked. Med rare is what I ordered. Came rare. Everything else was good. Steak was a tiny bit tough as well. Not what I was expecting.

Everything we ate was incredible. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, was mediocre or bad. Just incredible food, every course was better than the next. I highly recommend the spaetzle, it was off the hook.

This place was just great, we love BLG and this is clearly another awesome restaurant. Ordered the shrimp/pork dumplings to start, we both had steaks (6 oz prime flat iron and 6 oz prime hanger) and then had the pommes puree and carrots with chevre as sides. The steaks come with a nice steak sauce and a great bearnaise along with some pickled mushrooms. The steaks and carrots were the clear standouts of the meal (also the great pretzel bread they give you to start!) Would highly recommend checking this place out as soon as possible!

Mushroom Pate is all I can think about! I've dined here a few times since it opened and each time have been blow away. The service, cocktails, wine list, pizza, and steal are all worth it! The garlic butter pizza changed the way I think of simple pizzas with just a few ingredients on an impeccable crust the chefs at Burch are able to satisfy in the most simple and straight forward way. Steaks were all cooked perfectly and served with complimentary sides worthy of the meat.

Previously had eaten downstairs last time I was here and that was exceptional. Last night we were in the main dining room and again this was an amazing meal. The starters were so good- ahi-ahi and the lamb tartare...man! The meal amazing including a great wait staff

Busy! Burch is a bustling place, and I can taste why. Apps, pizza, drinks, sides to share, it was all very good to great. If you love Lola, you'll love Burch's pizza. Very similar crust but very different toppings. The spicy raw ahi tuna, endive, and cilantro pizza was a big hit with my group. I highly recommend the house cured meats. It's just excellent. Ask for the buttered toast that normally goes with the bone marrow. I know, it sounds excessive, but it's a meat board. We're not going for clean eating here. Speaking of bone marrow, Burch does a very good one. All the sides/contorni we had were great. Hooray for roasted fresh veggies in olive oil! Sounds simple, but Burch knows how to step it up with savory and sweet pops from herbs, aioli, chevre, figs, and all manner of yum. The drinks are the same or similar to Bar La Grassa, clean with a slight alcohol/medicinal taste is the best way I can describe it. Service was also very good and incredibly accommodating to families with babies. By the end of the night, we were stuffed, so no one was tempted by dessert. But before you leave, get a "Small Treat." It's the best 25 cents(!) you can spend at the end of a meal.

It took us a while to get to Burch. Not because we didn't want to go there or hadn't heard great things; it was just always packed. "Sorry, no reservations this week!" It seemed like it just wasn't destined to happen. But then... In September, it did! It DID happen. I went to Burch for dinner with my Dad (who lives out of town but was visiting) and my husband. My Dad is an obnoxiously picky eater. He doesn't like things that are too spicy, too ethnic or too "weird" (basically any food trend, like runny eggs on top of dishes or kale or anything like that - I mean World Street Kitchen is probably his greatest nightmare). Meanwhile, my husband and I are annoyingly on the opposite end of the spectrum. That being said, we ALL loved this meal. We shared a beautiful bottle of wine, recommended by our helpful, heartbreakingly hip waitress. Then shared a giant steak and three sides, but not before trying one of their famous dumplings. YUM. YUM. YUM. I could not tell you which was my favorite part. It all worked together in this beautiful way that just doesn't make sense. Red wine and a dumpling and a steak? PERFECTION. We also had the corn with bacon in it (my Dad's pick), some veggies and cornbread. We left this restaurant so happy and satisfied and just on a complete food high. We are going back again this Friday for my best friend's birthday dinner and I can't stop thinking about it. I'm salivating as I write this...yum!

This is a review of the pizza bar. I've been to Burch several times now and I cannot rave enough about this place. First the cons: It can be VERY loud in the pizza bar. Sometimes it feels like wait staff is trying to rush you along at the end of your meal. Pros: THE PIZZA. Seriously. I was a die-hard Fugazza fan (chevre, shaved onions, oregano, arugula) from the first time I tasted it and still am but last night (oh why did it take this long!) I also had the Funghi (creamed leeks, mushrooms, truffled boschetto) and I don't think I'll taste a better pizza in the midwest. I've also tried the Margherita (good but compared to the other vegetarian options not my favorite choice). Not pizza wise - I had the carrots once and those were also good. I definitely recommend ordering AT LEAST two pizzas just so you can share with your tables mate (if there are two of you) and have some leftover. Also, pro tip: reheat the pizza in a skillet on your stove top. Keeps the crust crisp.

I'd give this restaurant a solid 3.5. I went here on an early Tuesday evening as a belated Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend. My reservations were unnecessary, as the place was mostly empty, but they were easy to make on the website, so I wouldn't discourage people from doing so. Tuesdays aren't exactly peak business time for me to judge how necessary reservations are. There's no parking lot, so the only option at the actual restaurant is paid valet. We found street parking fairly easily, but I would imagine during a busier time, it would be a huge pain. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is much more casual than the prices of the food would lead you to believe. I was expecting something a little more formal. I was surprised to see many of the wait-staff wearing jeans. I know this isn't a super upscale place, but it's fairly pricey, and some of them seemed to be dressed more for working at a TGI Fridays. Except I don't think they can wear jeans there. (Note: The previous sentence was not a jab at anyone who works at a TGI Fridays. I work at a chain-salon. I know how it is.) The wait-staff was fine. Just fine. Not particularly personable, but any questions were answered knowledgeably and the service was prompt. We were in and out in a little over an hour. We were seated facing the cooks, which can be a good or bad thing, I suppose. For the most part everything was fine but there was one thing I saw happen that, if I were a different person, may have bothered me. All I'll say is I think they need to keep in mind that we can see everything they're doing. So far I've only mentioned negative and neutral things, which makes it a wonder that I'm giving this place 3.5 stars, but the food makes up for those things. I ordered the Barramundi from the Raw Bar, the Soup du Jour (which was Cream of Mushroom). I was about the order the scallop dish, and our server explained that it was actually one large scallop and one piece of foie gras sausage, which didn't seem so evident in its menu description (the way I interpreted it, it was scallops with some foie gras sausage on top), so I was grateful she warned me. I ended up ordering the daily special, which was Skatefish (I think that's what she said) atop a butternut squash puree with a brown butter sauce. My dining companion ordered the Salmon Tartare for the raw bar and a rare Sirloin with a side of roasted cauliflower. The Barramundi was described as "cinnamon smoked" and was topped with riced cauliflower and laid atop some bacon aioli. The smokiness of it was perfect. While the salmon tartare was good (it had a nice citrusy kick to it), the barramundi was fantastic. These plates were very small, as I had anticipated. They did come with bread-chip-things which would have made for a bigger plate, but we don't eat bread. The Cream of Mushroom soup was creamy (of course) and had a nice bisque-like taste and texture (I think she said it was made with sherry, which makes sense), and the portion of it was a lot bigger than I had expected. The main entree was just plain fantastic. My only gripe is that it was very lightly breaded, which I don't *think* was mentioned when she described it. I generally don't eat breaded anything. It was light, though, and honestly it was so good, I didn't care. I'd never had that kind of fish before, and its texture was phenomenal. The sauce, the squash puree... everything combined... I was about to burst at the seams but I didn't want to leave any of it on my plate. My boyfriend said his steak was great. It looked perfectly cooked (very red and tender), and he said the sauce (I'll spare you my diatribe about steak sauce) and mushrooms on the side were delicious. For the two of us it ended up being ~$100 before tax and tip (we didn't drink anything but water), which is by no means cheap, but we were both stuffed and satisfied. I can't afford to eat like this on a regular basis, but I would likely return for a special occasion. Or when my parents are paying.

My BFF and I went to Burch last week to celebrate me getting into grad school and our experience was pretty near perfect. Our waiter (can't recall his name, but he was great) was there when we needed him and gave us privacy when we didn't. It makes me so happy to see restaurants supporting great companies like Creekstone. I got the 16 oz ribeye to medium which ended up being just the slightest bit overcooked. That being said, it was still probably the best steak I've ever had. It was buttery and had a great sear on the outside. It was served with a house made A1, bernaise sauce (which was incredible), and pickled mushrooms (which I didn't care for). For our side, we shared the rapini risotto which had great flavor from the lemon. For dessert, I highly recommend the lemon tart or the coconut cake! I will definitely be back again.

Here I go again, hating on a well-loved new restaurant in the city. I honestly can't give this place a good review. My friends and I made reservations to Burch for a get together dinner since we were all coming back into town at the same time after moving away. We picked on this place because it was one of the few restaurants on some top-10 list that had just been published. I came in with such high expectation because everything looked so good! We were basing this off of the good public reviews and even on the personal recommendations one of my friends that ate with us. We, and even she, was extremely disappointed by our food that night. We all ordered a little bit of everything from different parts of the menu, from steak, to seafood, to various sides. EVERYTHING we had was a salt-lick. I'm picky about my food but there's been few times where I've wanted to send things back...let alone probably my entire meal. Everything was so salty that I had to drink after each bite. The steak came out with a thick layer of salt. The mushroom side we ordered was marinated into something salty, cooked with bacon and then sprinkled with sea salt on top. We could still see the little salt particles on the dish and feel it as we ate. I sent one or two of the dishes back and they still came back salty. Less salty than before but still salty. My scallops were salty. The other sides were salty. You get the drift. The space was beautiful! Well designed. Bright and airy. I loved the dessert table, but unfortunately since dinner was so bad we all passed on trying the dessert. If you're looking to eat salt, please go here.

Interesting, eclectic menu like sea beans, prawns, etc. Waiter was aloof - more eager to take our order than to tell us about the menu. Very incorrectly stated that a wine from Italy was from Spain (complete ignorance of the wine list). Could provide very little info on the steak - what the cut was like, sourcing. I ordered an espresso for dessert with another guest and was verbally acknowledged. When I asked for it again he had the audacity to say "what coffee?" Food was great don't get me wrong. Elegant, plated nicely. Ambience is great - open kitchen, open windows, bright clean colors and lines. Many, many wait staff came by throughout the meal. Our main server seemed to be the problem. He threw off that hipster, "I'm going to treat you like crap because that's modern fine dining" type of vibe that was very off-putting. Tab ran to $500 including two bottles of wine (I had a gift certificate for that amount). Would love to try one of Isaac Becker's other restaurants to see what he's all about.

This is a place that I'll keep going back to, again and again. I've been to both the steakhouse and the pizza bar downstairs and I'm torn on my preference - I'm going to say that I prefer Burch's steak vs. pizza, but the vibe in the pizza bar just works for me. Wait - what's that? You say I can have BOTH menus downstairs? Bonus points and a "Thank You!" high-five for Chef Becker and Co. Let's break this mammoth of a review down: Sides: First, let's just talk about the carrots. I can't say I've ever gone to a restaurant on a repeat visit with the intention of ordering carrots - until Burch, that is. I don't know what they're doing to these things, but it is magic. Thyme, chevre, and probably a whole lot of olive oil combine into a beautiful roasted plate that needs to be a part of your order. We also tried the butternut squash with fig cheese and maple syrup, which was so-so, but I found myself longingly looking at other tables' roasted cauliflower and burrata side dish...there's always next time. Dumplings: my northern Minnesotan spirit was jumping for joy that a dumpling menu could actually be a real thing. The veal and pork kinkhali, bone marrow dumplings in star anise-flavored broth, and schupfnudel are all solid choices. Steak: I ordered the Prime hanger steak in the smaller of the two sizes of portions offered. it was perfectly medium rare, perfectly seared on the outside, and just, well, perfect. Each steak comes with personal-sized accoutrements - homemade steak sauce, Bearnaise, and a little container of sauteed mushrooms. Although this is a great concept and the condiment freak in me was pretty excited about it, I have to admit that I thought the steak was better off on its own. Pizza: I've only tried one of their pizza offerings, the coppa cotta (seriously - how many Yelp reviewers have recommended this thing?!). Roasted red peppers, smoked pork shoulder, hazelnuts, and mozzarella make for a really tasty and unique combination. BUT - old habits die hard, and I'm going to have to wave the Punch Pizza flag and say that I prefer theirs to Burch's. That said, I'm excited to try the marinated octopus and olive pizza next time around - I'm pretty sure that's not on Punch's menu. The design in the upstairs space is absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to second Ellen R.'s description of "Midwest luxury" - navy blue and white, streamlined, and industrial. The open kitchen is such a bonus - I like to see how my food is made - and I love, LOVE the wall of windows facing Hennepin Ave. As for the pizza bar: the basement level is definitely cramped quarters, in the best "I'm having dinner in a classy cave" kind of way. The ceiling is low; the tables are close together; the music is loud. But I'm not sure I can think of a more fun place to eat a ridiculous meal, sip on a cocktail (or bourbon on the rocks like I did...bourbon and pizza might be my new thing), and eye up the beautiful people of Lowry Hill. As others have said, service is spot on. No complaints here. On each visit, order delivering, check-ins, and bussing were impeccably timed. Clearly the servers know how to do their job well. Congrats on making it all the way to the end of this review! In short, Burch does a whole lot of things exactly right, and you should just get there. Bonus tips: valet service is available, but if you'd like to, say, order another cocktail instead of paying for parking, there's plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. GET A RESERVATION if you're planning to come on a weekend. And don't miss out on the $0.25 desserts at the end of the meal!

Great, consistent food. Excellent service. This is my neighborhood "go-to", so I dine here at least once per week... To drink: Ask your bartender/server for recommendations. They've steered me to some pretty neat offerings. They have a Rickshaw Pinot Noir on tap right now that's pretty tasty. To eat: Start with their Raw Oysters. Chef Danny has the oysters flown in daily, so the selection is always fresh and changes often. Their Lamb Tartare and Escargot (with chanterelle mushroom & sorrel butter) are must-haves. My guy and I can't leave without ordering at least one plate of their Schupfnudel--house-made dumplings smothered in gorgonzola. (It's so good, we've talked about naming our first-born after it... not joking.) When choosing your steak, I recommend their Niman Ranch Natural Prime. With the Prime cut, the cow is fed an all grass-diet up until its last 3 months, the diet changes to corn and molasses. Check it out!

Took some time to stop in at this local spot and I'm very glad I did. The staff was very helpful in the able to decide from the varied menu. I took it upon myself to eat at the pizza bar near the brick oven and I am glad I did. The chèvre and arugula pizza was exquisite and reasonably priced not that it would've mattered I would've paid just to have that level of quality. I will definitely be returning and will most likely find myself back in the pizza grotto once again.

After hitting up the traditional steak houses in minneapolis my wife and I met some friends here for dinner on a weekend night. The menu was good with a lot of options. And we shared a ton of pierogis and a pizza as apps. The steak menu was decent with a number of options based on your liking. The ribeye was mighty tasty and the filet and rich and flavorful. The only complaint I have is that there are no potato dishes on the menu. I want hash browns or mashed potatoes with my steak! That and the super high prices will probably make this a not so common destination. Mannys still has the best ribeye in town and Ruth's Chris has the best filet. Stick with those.

Absolutely loved Burch! We dined at Burch Steak Saturday of opening weekend. We were very impressed with our attentive and knowledgeable server. Our group loved the grilled prawns, lamb tartar, and sunchoke & goat cheese gratinata. We ordered 3 different cuts of meat and everyone was very happy with what they ordered. I would highly recommend a visit to Burch Steak. Can't wait to try out Burch Pizza!

We went here on the opening week, no reservations but we were able to be seating downstairs in the Pizza Bar. We actually ordered off the steak menu which was great. Pizzas looked good too. Grass feed beef....Yummy! For sides we got grilled bottom mushrooms, herb salad, Roasted carrots, thyme, chevre, and Sautéed kale, dried peppers, ricotta salata, all were very good!!! I made reservations for another day on the way out it was so good.

Anyone who lived in Uptown/Kenwood (or South Minneapolis, for that matter) in the past 30 years must have fond memories of one of the last "mom & pop" pharmacies, Burch Pharmacy, on the corner of Hennepin and Franklin. It was an icon. If you loved Burch Pharmacy as I did, you will not be disappointed with the transformation of the space. The owners have respected the space and its history, paying homage to its previous function by naming the restaurant after the pharmacy. Don't be tempted to dismiss this place as a "trend." It has enough substance to become a new classic. First, the decor is absolutely breathtaking, the food is fresh and innovative, the staff (mainly veteran service industry folk) are knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable, and the vibe, while (yes) "trendy," is cool without being out of reach. We've even stopped in with our gym shoes and yoga pants on after walking around Lake of the Isles. While I wouldn't generally recommend wearing your workout gear to a classy joint like this, there was nary an eyelash batted. We were treated with friendly, very attentive service and had a wonderful time. On that visit we tried the oysters, salmon tartar (was a bit salty on the first attempt and the chef sent a new order out right away), and butternut squash soup which was heavenly. Since that first visit, I have been back several times - with girlfriends, clients, and just with my hubby. We have had a blast every time. We had fun trying the wood fire pizza downstairs in the "grotto" on one particular stop. Steak is a definite must of course if you have the time and the ching. I think it's safe to say this corner of Uptown has a new icon.

I think Burch will convert some diehard Manny's fans. The steaks are cooked perfectly & the sides are a lot more interesting. I got the hanger steak on my last visit - only $13 for the small portion & I had leftovers. Steaks come with homemade steak sauce, béarnaise & marinated shrooms. The dumplings are fun to try, although some are fantastic & others are just okay. This visit, I shared the shr(insert German word)noodle which paired nicely with the steak. I've also been to the pizza place in the basement. My friend got a classic & I got a unique pie...both were great. The atmosphere is less interesting down there; I'd guess cozier in the winter. I never leave much room for dessert but the choices all sound fantastic. I stole a bite (or 3) of my friend's carrot cake and it was SO tasty. Smooth & flavorful. Oh, and they have pretty one-bite 25 cent desserts. Get those too because why wouldn't you?!

My husband and I celebrated my birthday here, over the weekend. We had great service, wonderful food, and loved the lively atmosphere, though it was just a little too loud for us to converse comfortably, and the table spacing was a little too tight. I'd recommend almost everything we ate, though the sea bean/dungeness crab salad and my boulevardier cocktail were exceptional. Steve especially enjoyed his bavette-cut steak and pineapple galette. I still can't believe this used to be the pharmacy around the corner from my old apartment. The space conversion looks great!

I love it when my expectations are astronomically high, and a restaurant still just hits it out of the park. That's what happened last night at Burch! I was eagerly awaiting a trip here ever since reading a Minnesota Mag article describing the menu (steakhouse + raw + pizza??) and noting that the restaurant was created by the people that did Bar La Grassa. Some goooood eats at La Grassa. I think Burch might be better, though. Everything was amazing. Great decor. Amazing service. Nice wine selection. Good volume level. Wouldn't have changed a thing. We split: 1. Marinated prawns with porcini aioli. The aioli is totally addictive. I will try to make it at home and fail, but maybe it will still be half as delicious, which would mean it was still awesome. Prawns are $3 a pop - just get one and then order a bunch more as needed. 2. Bone marrow dumpling. Like the best matzo ball soup you've ever had. In a consomme with star anise. Noms. 3. Mussels with sausage. A steal at $8 - tons of big mussels, with amazing broth and lots of garlicky bread to sop it up, natch. 4. Lobster and mint pizza - also a steal at $15. Easily big enough for two. Sounds like a weird combo, but it totally worked. 5. Baba rhum - rum-soaked bready/croissanty thing with vanilla bean anglaise. Delish. I'll be back again and again to this place. New favorite restaurant in the TC. Not even that pricey, too, considering how awesome it is. HURRAH.

Delicious food, great service and interesting ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyed my steak and sides. The appetizers were awesome. Sorry, I'm not a foodie, but I know what I like. I mean what other fancy restaurants have Dio playing while you eat? They have valet parking or if your lucky enough to drive a compact car, there's a little parking lot just up the street you can park in after 5PM.

Steak and pizza... Sounds like a strange combo but at this old pharmacy location they pull it off beautifully. Great meat selection and I split a prime bone in ribeye for 2. Perfect choice. We started with pizzas and they were creative and authentic (which is rare). Nice borolo to top it off. Setting is modern and lively and service was on point. I will be back.

I was looking for a new place to have dinner with our daughter before she returned to school. I couldn't get excited about a lot of places we've been to before. Something on here reminded me about Burch, which we've been wanting to try for a while. And what's not to like about a place that offers steak and pizza? So glad we did - fantastic meal all around! Excellent steaks, schupfnudel is amazing (don't ask, just order it!), the mushroom side dish was the best mushroom dish I've ever had. Desserts were worth saving room for. Our server Anthony (hope I got the name right) was great, friendly and very helpful with menu questions. A tip for the budget conscious, the steaks can be pricey but the hanger steak is delicious and a great value. My daughter and I thought it was more flavorful than my husband's filet, and at a fraction of the price. A great send off for our daughter - we will definitely go back.

OMGY. So, I've been here three times now. And this is my first review. Oops. Sorry 'bout it. Sooo, the Bone Marrow. Let's just say. UMM, YEAH! The mint just makes the dish pop. It's like butter. Well, duh. It's all fat. But who cares. It's winter, and that's my excuse. The dumplings?!? I had the Cheese Dumpling with Lamb Stroganoff, and the Veal & Pork Kinkhali! Soooo good! Some of the best I've ever had! Dumplings were cooked perfectly, as well as seasoned! Let's talk about the Funghi Pizza. Holy creamed leeks, mushrooms and truffled boschetto! Literally melts in your mouth. No need for Sriracha. Or ranch. :) Oysters? Shucked perfectly. I'm sorry, but I've had some other places - and I ate... Shell. Not good! I'm still an oyster newbie! I'm learning :) Oh, and the Pork Tenderloin. Cooked to perfection. Atop a delicious pillow of polenta, and apple cider jus. Perfect balance! The endives on top add the perfect crunch! No, not done yet. We also had the Belgian Endives salad. It was topped with big chunks of bacon, bleu cheese and a buttermilk dressing. PERFECT apéritif or digestif! The service was phenomenal. Thank you, Robert, and Amy for a wonderful experience! Robert was very delightful. Engaging and sweet. He may or may not be one of my new fave bartenders! I wish I could have remembered the cook's name! He was sitting with us, explaining the dishes in depth. It was the best experience. :) Let's just say, I heart BURCH! *cues emoji heart*

Being a big fan of 112 and BLG, I was looking forward to going here, waiting the mandatory four months while they worked out the kinks. We sat on the main floor. The server took a while to come by and take our drink order; he was very apologetic which we appreciated saying he had a big table that just paid, but he was then pretty scarce most of the evening which diminished the apology. Upon ordering drinks, scurried away with the wine list while I said (wait! we were....going...to...order...) That said - I suppose this is where you go if you want a steak that isn't old school (Murray's), testosterone driven (Manny's), a chain (Ruth's or Capital Grille). And if you want unique sides like dumplings. Also, the wine list if affordable which makes up for the steak prices. But for the overall experience, I'm not sure why you would make this your go-to either. There is $8 valet, so parking is as tough as the downtown places as well. That said - thank you to the owners for investing in a prominant location in uptown that could have quickly been an eyesore. For that reason alone - we need to support it as the owners respond to what is working and what isn't. They have a track record for getting it right!

This place is one of the best new restaurants or restaurants period in town. I had the best steak I've ever eaten here. A porterhouse that was to die for. This is coming from a guy who is a true Midwesterner and eaten mucho steak in my day. The wait staff are attentive yet not intrusive. Our waiter made recommendations that were exactly for what we were looking. Wine selection is great and the cocktails are craft style and delicious. The place is not quiet, so be ready for a lively evening.

There is no denying the fact that the food is fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant with fantastic service and knowledgeable wait staff. Burch's has all the makings of being one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. Here is the problem: the noise. The restaurant has hard floors, hard walls and the wrong type of sound deadening panels on the ceiling. I measured a consistent 85 to 90 dB of ambient noise from the customers and the "music", which couldn't even be identified. 90 dB is the volume at which prolonged exposure can cause permanent hearing loss. I worry about the wait staff in that regard, not to mention having a conversation with my girlfriend was pretty much impossible. Frankly, it killed the mood and the atmosphere. The waiter said that it was always like that on weekends. I would love to come back, but until they fix the noise, it's going to need to be on a weekday, if at all.

Stopped in on a weekday evening shortly after opening. The place is spacious and airy with large windows overlooking Hennepin Ave. The decor is quite modern with the entrance greeting you with large black tile and wood flooring. The high ceilings also give the place an air of expanse. The four of us were seated close to the center of the restaurant. three of us settled in on having the hanger steak (from two different farms - there are four different farms to choose from). My wife had the sea bass special. We all ordered various sides and starters which we all shared. They were expensive and nothing stood out to us. Then the steaks came. They were tender, perfectly cooked and delicious. They certainly were the hit of the night. The hanger steak was the cheapest cut, but it tasted like a more expensive cut. Great job! Overall, the steaks were terrific, the sides were pretty mediocre, the service was good and the noise level was a little to loud. With all the hard surfaces, the noise can be too much. It was all pretty good but we still prefer Bar La Grassa over Burch.

Downstairs pizza bar was AMAZING! Copa cotta was great. Funghi with creamed leeks was incredible. Drinks were superb. I had the gimlet and my friend had the whiskey sour. Both were some of the best drinks I've had in minneapolis. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This is the best restaurant in Minnesota. I first found this place because we love Bar La Grassa and found out that this was a sister restaurant. I have dined here 6 times now and have sat in just about every section. Our favorite is right by the kitchen, I suggest requesting it on the reservation. Think of the place as two restraint in one. Their are two kitchen, the one downstairs is for items requiring the wood oven mainly pizza. the dining room is cool and dark it has a feel of an modern underground speakeasy. The main dining room upstairs has just a beautiful modern design that is separated by a wall in the center. Two kitchen means they have two menus. This can create a small delay when you table orders from both menus. The most we waited was 5 min. Now when it comes to the food we love to start with the Escargot, Seared foie gras, and the soup du jour very seasonal - winter has a amazing butternut squash soup. For entrées we get Prime beef Flat Iron Steak 12oz. This seriously one of the best steaks I have ever had. Their is no need to order any other steaks. Steaks do not come with sides so you need to order them. We love the dumplings, especially the Potato Pierogi. We always try another item every time and none have been disappointing. Now for desert you have to get the Earl Grey Tea Cram Brule. This desert is just breathtaking. I love this place I continue to go back.

Nicely remodeled drug store. The steaks were very well prepared. My concerns are that they are way over the top on prices. This will keep me from being a regular customer. They also need to do something about the sound level in the Pizza ( old basement) restaurant.

Move over 112 Eatery and Heidi's, Burch has taken over as my new favorite restaurant in town. I had been anxiously awaiting the opening of Burch since I heard the 112 guys would be opening a steakhouse and oh man was it worth the wait! The bf and I had dinner on Friday and were both more than satisfied with everything served. Being a paleo lady I was 100% happy with the full selection of 100% grass-fed beef on the menu. Although I really wanted the ribeye it was a bit pricey for a random Friday night so I decided on the 12oz hanger steak after a recommendation from our waitress. Awesome choice, I highly recommend it if you like rare or medium rare as it was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The steaks come with the most delicious bearnaise sauce and homemade steak sauce which has a much stronger tangy flavor than any I have ever had. You also get a little pickled mushrooms which I loved and the bf wasn't too fond of. We chose the Chocolate Rabbit appetizer which was small but really tasty. Next time I want to try some of the raw menu items. The thing that blew me away during our meal was the side of mushrooms with bacon. I LITERALLY couldn't get enough. You know how you save the most delicious thing to have as your last bite? Yeah, it wasn't steak. It was the mushrooms smothered in the accompanying sauce with little bits of pancetta... dear Lord they are addicting. One really cool thing about Burch is the "treats" on the dessert menu. These days I normally don't order dessert because I eat really big dinners and don't need/have room for dessert. Burch, however, provides rotating small treats for a quarter so we couldn't pass them up. The two we had were chili chocolate truffles (spicy and yummy) and the best treat I have had in awhile, salted chocolate bites. So so good. The service was wonderful, it was a bit noisy, but I don't mind that. I will absolutely be going back to Burch as soon as possible. Probably in the next few days because the market fish that I passed on (almost ordered actually) was rainbow trout stuffed with dungeness crab and wrapped in proscuitto... gah.

One of the few places in Minneapolis to get a wagyu steak. It was fantastic. All of their steaks were spectacular, the dumplings were outstanding, and the service made a busy, loud, fun atmosphere feel very intimate. Consider it for any special occasion, but leave your silk dress at home - - jeans and a solid wine list make for a great combo with the steaks.

They serve steak and pizza. Let me say that again, they serve steak and pizza! How is it that no one else thought to put my two favorite food groups together? Both are just as good or better than you will find anywhere else. I've been here a number of times and the food and service are always top notch. Next time you can't decide between steak and pizza, just go here. Trust me. (PS - they have other food that I'm told was good too).

We went last night and really enjoyed the meal. My husband loved his spicy margarita and the dumplings to start. I was in the mood for a burger and I was not disappointed. The others at the table had lamb, sides and steak. The small truffles after dinner were great as well. I like the atmosphere, however a little loud at times. Now that I have been downstairs and up, I would have to say that I like the upstairs experience better. A tad expensive, but still very good and I would go back.

The food here is delicious. For pizza, you have to be seated downstairs. The cheese dumplings with lamb stroganoff were very good as was the sirloin wagyu. It's also hard to go wrong with the foie gras torchon. Mmmm.

Oh, Burch Pizza. You just make me so happy to be alive. What's that you say, Isaac? You'd like me to list all the many reasons? Yes. I can do that. 1) The perfect, pull-y, pillowy yet thin, chewy, blackened crust. Holy geez. I would make a blanket out of one giant one and cuddle in it forever. Or, as long as it took me to eat my way through it. 2) THAT TURMERIC BUTTER DRENCHED BROCCOLINI. CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT YOUR FACE WITH HOW GOOD THAT STUFF IS. OMG. 3) Super tasty topping combinations - especially those mushrooms. Love. 4) The romaine salad is crazy good too. Super refreshing, in a world where salads just get more and more bogged down. DONE RIGHT. 5) Really fun ambiance. Not the cozy vibe I usually go for, but I really like the stark black and white and the subway tiles. 6) I mean, I don't know. It's just...awesome.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. I ordered the 6 oz Domestic Wagyu Sirloin and he ordered the Prime Beef New York - his was much better! Both were excellent. We also ordered the Rapini Risotto. It was pretty good, my only complaint is that it was too heavy on the lemon for me. I would not order it again, mostly because there are so many other good options It took us about 10 minutes for our waitress to actually greet us, but she apologized saying she got caught up with a table and their wine selections. She was wonderful and service was excellent! The dress code says dressy, but the wait staff are all in jeans. There was a wide range of customers wearing jeans, khakis, sports coats, dresses. So..."Minnesota Dressy".

So far the best pizza I've had in Minneapolis. As close to NJ/NY pizza so far. Sit at the pizza bar and enjoy or if you prefer a little more formal make a resy for a table.

Yuppies. Everywhere. Ever been to a place where you feel everyone is watching you? Yup. This is your typical Wayzata/Minnetonka parents saying, "oh, let's go to the city tonight...." So they end up coming to Burch since it's right off the highway and in a safe area where they still feel comfortable outside. Food = 3 stars. For the price, I've had a lot better other places. Service = 3 stars. Felt like I was being judged the whole time I was there Tips = don't convince yourself that this is anything other someplace for yuppies - even though they have dencient Za.

BLG and 112 are a couple of our favorite restaurants in town and Burch lives up to its predecessors. The atmosphere is great. Kind of dressy, kind of casual. It was busy and a little loud, but not so loud that you couldn't hear each other. Perfect. For drinks, my wife got the Cucumber Press and I got the Burch Manhattan. My wife said her drink was fine, but was instantly jealous of my Manhattan after trying it. Brussels sprout salad and fried semolina dumplings for starters. Both were amazing! For our mains, I ordered a grass fed, 12 oz sirloin medium rare and my wife ordered the scallop dish. Our sides were the pommes purée and roasted cauliflower. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. And you have to do the small treats for dessert.

I chose Burch for my birthday dinner with my parents this year...and I'm glad I did. I love the ambiance and design, the space is gorgeous. Valet parking is a must in this neighborhood. We ordered off of the steak and pizza menus - didn't know you can do that! But good to know. We had an early reservation and I didn't realize when making the reservation I wasn't given a choice, so we were in the steak part. The only possible downside of ordering off of both menus is timing. My Dad ordered off of the pizza menu and had an amazing looking appetizer with brussel sprouts and a cold poached egg. I had (and loved) seabeans and dungeness crab as my appetizer, highly recommend this one! My parents also shared a Schupfnudel off the dumpling menu which I did not try. They have different categories of steak - grass fed, prime beef, domestic wagyu, certified Japanese wagyu. I had a grass fed sirloin perfectly medium rare. I want to come back to try other steaks in other categories. Coppa Cotta pizza was an interesting combo - I love hazelnuts so I was in love with the flavors. There are some other interesting flavor combinations - I want to try some more of their pizzas, especially the Polpo. The crust is chewy and one of my favorites (that I've found in Minnesota). I also love that lobster claw is an option as an additional topping. Wine list for by the bottle choices is quite extensive, however reds by the glass could be expanded. I stuck with Saintsbury Pinot Noir the whole evening which was easy to drink.

I came here with a party of four. Let's start off with the fact that my friends medium rare steak was over-cooked. This would have spelled doom in the ratings department for a pricey steakhouse. What they did next was superb, they took back my friends steak, cooked them a new one, and bought us all a round of drinks. I was impressed. It made me forget that I was spending over $60 for a steak. The manager, server, and even a chef came out to apologize and assure us that the next one would be up to their normally high standards. I enjoyed my Rib-eye immensely. My friends all enjoyed their Filet Mignon. It was loud here, so not the most romantic setting for a Friday night dinner for two. Very good energy in this place, good lighting, and great food. I would also recommend the poutine.

I LOVE THE PIZZA BAR! It is maybe my favorite place to go in the city right now. Every pizza is incredible, and whats more you can order the full steak menu, which to me means that you can eat dumplings before pizza, which obviously is a good thing. For pizza, the margharita and the copa cotta are standouts! Ads for dumplings just order a ton of the fried semolina! The wine list is also really crushes it! I really enjoy sitting at the actual bar downstairs, and love how small and cozy this space feels, especially in relation to the open spaciousness of the steakhouse upstairs. Also the valet service is great on snowy nights! I just love it.

From the moment I walked into Burch, I was impressed. The decor is trendy and the restaurant is divided into three parts. On the main floor there is a bar on the right with plenty of table seating and on the left is the steak house. In the basement is the pizza place. The steak/bar level has an open floor plan with wall-to-wall windows that let in the great light and sights of Hennepin Ave. The open kitchen concept is quite prominent and makes for an entertaining show. You can literally see every facial expression of the cooks. Great idea as long as they continue to have meticulously clean and professional chefs on the line! The menu of the Steak house is nicely varied and every item is a-la-carte. Appetizers, salads, dumplings, steaks, seafood, and side dishes. As others have mentioned, putting a lonely steak on a plate without anything else makes for poor presentation. Can a girl get a drizzle of oil, a fleck of parsley, anything? LOL. The steaks were served with two sauce options and mushroom on a separate plate for the table. One sauce was their version of A-1 that had a definite orange component and I forget the other. I found it strange that they would choose to create sauces for their steaks because I've found that the really good steak restaurants tend to trust in the well-seasoned and cooked meats on their own. Our steaks were cooked well but I have to admit that I did find myself reaching for the sauces. Had some great sides and dessert in this meal though. I would highly recommend the Schupfnudel Dumplings (kinda like gnocchi) and Caneles dessert. Service was great and our waitress seemed well informed when we had questions. Looking forward to trying the pizza in the basement restaurant on the next visit!

This place is fabulous. Three of us split three different steaks, all rare, and each was exceptional. Atmosphere is great, beer selection is incredible, and my wife is still talking about the desserts.

Went here for a special occasion dinner. It's a sticky neighborhood to navigate through, particularly at the time of our reservations--6:30pm. Valet parking ($8+tip) was efficient and attentive--so don't be afraid of that aspect. The dishes are predominantly ala-carte. So each selection adds it's own to the tab. The sides we had of fresh oysters (starters), roasted beets, and candied carrots were all superb. We tasted sea-beans. Disappointed in the Risotto, but the House-made Dumplings were REALLY exceptional!!! Choose your flavor and enjoy! Unique to Burch's. Our table focused on the beef part of the menu. Steaks were all wonderful, flavorful and very well cooked. Tri-tip was great and my 12 oz. prortion was plentiful while my wife's 6 oz cut looked under-portioned. Very nice desserts and one's they are proud of. Right down to the 25-cent hand made chocolate truffles. (Recommended: the Chocolate truffle with chili powder.)

Two out of three if us were disappointed with our meals last night. The one hit was the steak eater so - note to self - order steak the next time. The pork flat iron was dry though the accompanying fried oysters and grilled potatoes were tasty. My son's pizza came swimming in cheese and overwhelmed by prosciutto. He thinks Punch wins in this category. The bright spot for us disappointed diners was the plum and fig streusel. Flaky pastry, fruit filling not overly sweet. Well done. Next time I'll order steak and dessert.

Food was reasonably good, but service has a LONG way to go to compete with the other great restaurants in town. Very disappointing given the relatively high prices. We recently dined at the steakhouse with a group of 8. The number of service issues we experienced during our meal was downright comical. - Asked for server rec on what steaks to order, and ordered accordingly - 25 minutes later were told the cut she recommended was unavailable that evening - Asked what she would recommend as a comparable, and she chose something $25 more expensive, but said they could not cover any of the difference despite the inconvenience; did not have an alternative comp near the same price point - Told me I needed to choose right away because they would only start cooking once all orders were in! - We requested 2 orders of dumplings, but asked one be held as main for one of us - They brought both during apps, and when we asked one be brought back with the mains, it never came - Steaks were not cooked as ordered - Never received 2 other ordered items - Were charged for 2 items we never ordered (one of which we received, one of which we did not) - At the end of our meal it took over 15 minutes from the time we requested the check and it arrived at our table, then at least another 10 before they came back to collect our payment (then we had to deal with the incorrect charges) Mistakes happen, however the sheer number was unacceptable for this price-level of a restaurant. But what made it most unacceptable was that no one seemed apologetic for any of it. Worth noting, we did not experience the noise issues many others have cited. So I guess at least they must've given us a good seat!

This review is for the Steak only - haven't had a chance to check out the Pizza yet and so hence the 4-star. I went here for my birthday and really enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. Like all the other Becker locations, its got a lively energy to it and its very pretty. This wasn't our server's first rodeo and so he was professional, knowledgeable and definitely had his skills down. We each had our own salad, split some dumplings, a side and our ribeye, which they sliced before sending to us. It was DELICIOUS. And enough food for the both of us. I've been craving that steak for awhile, and that was 6 months ago. Probably time to head back.

It's Isaac Becker, so my expectations were high as a kite and the food still manages to exceed those great expectations. I've been to the pizza bar twice now and I'm a big fan of the food and the service. Big. Standout starters have been the mussels made with a sausage broth and the roasted broccolini with tumeric, chili flakes and mint. We fought the bussers off so that we could sop up the extra sauce on both these dishes using our pizza crusts. Right when they first opened, there was also a tasty radicchio salad on the menu but I don't think it's available anymore. For pizzas, I was fond of the Coppa Cotta (wood roasted red peppers, smoked pork shoulder, mozzarella, hazelnuts) and the Aragosta (lobster claw, mint, chili flakes, taleggio) but be warned that the Aragosta is pungent. Taleggio cheese is no joke. I'd definitely order the Coppa Cotta again (I did, in fact, eat it twice already), but maybe skip the Aragosta to try something new next time. Perhaps the speck and mornay? Aside from the one with lobster on it, these pizzas are comparable to Punch in size and price. In other words, a STEAL. I've also tried the Earl grey creme brûlée for dessert, which was excellent. I liked that the tea tones were prominent but not overpowering. For cocktails, do not balk at the simple stuff. They have a great menu of classic and more inventive drinks (also a nice wine list), but I like the cucumber collins. No, I don't just like it---I love it. It admittedly doesn't pair perfectly with pizza nor steak, but no matter. The food? Incredible. The cocktails? Don't even. However, the atmosphere in the pizza bar isn't quite on par with the upstairs. The upstairs is so bright, open and classy. It's one of THE most beautiful restaurant spaces in the city. The downstairs, in contrast, is a little stark with low ceilings and bad lighting. It's still has the industrial chic thing going and in fairness it IS a basement, but I think it's something about the lighting doesn't jive with me. It makes it feel cold when a simple change in lighting could make the space seem cozy. Anyway, luckily now you can eat upstairs or down and still order from both menus so it's not really a big deal. (And I realize not everyone is as weird about lighting as I am.) Lastly, I have to dole out some tough love about the signage, logo, branding and website. Frankly, it looks like amateur hour and the food and the vibe is anything but. Please, for the love of Pete, hire a reputable graphic designer to make you look as good as you taste. In other words, like a million bucks. I only say this because I care. Other Tips: -Reservations are a must Thurs-Sat -Valet is available

My husband and I decided to make a reservation at Burch for our anniversary, instead of our usual Bar La Grassa (still our #1, although for quite a different fare). I am so glad we did! Super delicious. I had really high expectations and was probably setting them up to fail a little bit...but Burch met and exceeded them all. It was absolutely divine. We started with the potato pierogi. I could have made a meal out of just those! amazing. The raisins added the perfect amount of sweet. Just...the right combo. Get it. The pommes puree were over the top with the poutine sauce and horseradish, and we had the ribeye for two (as this is my husband's favorite cut), cooked to a perfect medium rare. Ribeyes can be a little fatty for me; this one had the right amount of fat to flavor ratio...you know what I'm talking about. We left feeling stuffed and satisfied and will definitely be returning to Burch. Now to try the pizza...

My wife and I had dinner with friends at the end of our New Years weekend. The restaurant was very busy, but it was primetime on a Friday night. When my friend described the idea of the restaurant I was a bit concerned: crudo/dumplings/steak/pizza? That seems like a recipe for disaster--jack of many trades, master of none sort of thing. I ate crow on that and had a GREAT meal. We started at the bar with a glass of wine--I love that more and more restaurants are beginning to have a tap wine program. The Gruner Veltliner on tap was perfect--mineral rich and steely with a present acidity. We moved to our table and started with Crudo of Marlin, Sea Beans, and Oysters, all of which were terrific. We moved on to Lamb dumplings--their texture was...different, but they were absolutely delicious. Our pulpo (octopus) pizza was spicy and tasty, but the octopus was not as present as I would have liked. Altogether, our meal was outstanding and dessert was tasty. While the restaurant was busy, I was a bit put of by how brusque our server was, but she was certainly efficient, so I cannot really complain. I would definitely return.

One of the best meals in a longtime. It's a beautiful place, very crowded but we sat by Franklin ST window. Our server was a pro and friendly. There were five of us, we all loved our meals. I had walleye on a bed of wild rice and a velvety pool of butternut squash purée - it was sublime perfection!

Best. Meal. Ever. Made a resie here for an anniversary dinner. I was a little nervous, since we hadn't been and hubs has a pretty simple North Dakotan palette. I took a chance since we had a babysitter and boy were we happy I took that chance. We were greeted by a friendly server that wished us a happy anniversary right away (that didn't hurt his tip). He helped us navigate the menu and gave us his recommendations through each of the sections. He was confident and incredible accommodating. We decided we wanted to try a little of everything (starter, steak, dumplings, sides and of course drinks). I kicked off the palette party with a Knob Creek Autumn. I am typically not a bourbon kinda girl but it was really good. The Knob Creek was infused with honeycrisp apples, cinnamon and vanilla on ice. It gave me the warm and fuzzies. Now let's get to the food....let me tell you about the Foie Gras Creme Brulee. I've tried foie gras at restaurants and by no means am I a connoisseur or do I seek it out, but after tasting this magnificent dish, I will be seeking this out every time I come to Burch. The Foie Gras was caramelized in a ramekin just like a creme brulee would, it was paired with perfectly with toasted brioche, orange marmalade, and cinnamon crumbles. It was salty, sweet, crunchy, and savory. So much goodness in every bite. Even after the first bite, hubs said it was the best thing he had EVER eaten. The experience was perfection after the first dish - way to go Burch!! Next we got the Coppa Cotta Pizza. Another winner. The pizza had wood roasted red peppers, smoked pork shoulder, mozzarella, hazelnuts. The pizza's crust and size are quite similar to Punch Pizza (along with the price). It had great flavors and loved that it was topped with the crunch of the hazelnuts. Yum. Next came the Schupfnudel dumplings. Goodness gracious, this was amazing. I didn't think I liked dumplings, but the server described them as stretched out gnocci, so I was in. The owners are the same folks that own Bar La Grassa, so you know it's the shiz. Walnuts and gorgonzola topped these dumplings, 'nough said. Next our Wagya Zabuton steak (paired with homemade steak sauce, bearnaise, pickled mushrooms). The steak wasn't the most attractive steak I've seen, but it was incredible! It had a perfect crust (without using all the seasonings) with a gummy, tender center (it was medium rare). Just enough marbling without feeling like you are chewing on bubbles of fat. This was paired with a side of roasted broccolini. The roasted gave it a crunchier, smokey texture and the tumeric gave it a nice twist. Just when we thought we were done, the server brought us a plate of small treats lit with a candle to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely. The food was amazing, the service was over the top good (I forgot to mention when we started to order all this food, the server made an effort to talk through the order and the pacing of the food). I loved that between the two menus, you can find food on the entire spectrum of prices. You can certainly make this just a special occasion meal but you can also make it into a casual dinner with friends as well. This night has gone down as the Best. Meal. Ever. for hubs and I (and funny enough, hubs wanted to go back a few days later).

What an excellent place this has turned out to be. I once lived a couple of blocks from this place when it was a pharmacy. I never would have imagined that such a great restaurant could fit that space. Everything about this place is well done. The ambiance is top notch and comfortable, while still maintaining a stylish edge. The food is unique in some respects but about what one is expect in this style of New American cuisine. The novelty of the dumpling offerings is lost on me, but the rest of menu from the amazing oysters to the perfectly cooked and seasoned steak are top notch. What really sets this place apart is the downstairs. The lower level wood-fired oven offers a mesmerizing viewing experience. Watching the cooks work the fire and make delicious food come out is one of the entertaining things I have even seen while eating, much better than a muted TV showing ESPN. The pizzas are great. Chewy crust and fresh ingredients. Try the bone-marrow its excellent.

I've been hard twice... The service is impeccable!! The food was amazing!! The service really stood out! They worked as a team environment! It's rare to see this. I never had to wait more than 5 seconds to tell someone what I needed. The filet was delicious! I got blue cheese on top of my steak. Yum!! It's a little loud here but hey it is uptown and it fits perfectly into the neighborhood! Love love love this place!!!!!

We were looking for a place to meet out of town visitors for dinner, a group that included our teenage/young adult sons. I am a big fan of 112 from way back but thought some of the group would be confused by the menu. Considered a few newer places but liked the solid, "established" idea of this place...we'd always wanted to try Burch (I've been downstairs for family birthdays - fun). It didn't disappoint. Waiter was appropriately friendly and helpful without taking over - she "got" our group, which is a wonderful skill. Atmosphere was perfect and it was not overly loud at our table. We ate and drank and talked and had a great time. Standouts included, of course, the steak. We had a wide range at our table and all were excellent. Other things we loved were the beef and veal dumpling (even with the steak - get it, have a bite at least). The krewetka, shrimp, salted pork, green onion dumpling disappeared before it got to me - but great reviews, wished we'd ordered more as our server tried to get us to do! I would go anytime and have the sea bean and dungeness salad for lunch, with a glass of wine. Perfect. The seven seed salad doesn't sound exciting but is also a perfect blend of flavors and textures. In comparison, the carrots and cauliflower sides seemed heavy and overly sweet - maybe best saved for a winter day. We all preferred the kale and the lovely mashed potatoes. For dessert we tried only the earl grey creme brulee, which was amazing. The bill was not cheap, but we didn't come for cheap. We came for plentiful, delicious, not - too - fussy food and a good experience, and we made a great choice.

Solid place with great service but overpriced. We started with the veal and pork dumpling. It's one large dumpling per order. Tasty but not all that exciting. The filling has a tomatoey taste. Couldn't tell that there was veal in it. Good but wouldn't get it again. The bread basket was yummy. It includes slices of a French baguette, pretzel rolls and beet/caraway seed bread. I asked the server for more of the pretzel rolls but she forgot to bring them. My husband and I shared the 32 oz ribeye for two. The menu doesn't specify that it's bone-in. Our server told us the bone was about 4 oz so we would each get a solid 14 oz of steak. She was very wrong. The bone was huge and we easily finished the steak and were not full at all. For $75, we were disappointed. Having said that, the steak was cooked well, was tender and came with a housemade steak sauce, bearnaise sauce, and mushrooms, which were too pickled for my tastes. This was the most over priced item in our meal. For our side, we got the steak fries. I don't normally care for steak fries but these were very crispy since they are triple fried. Cake with ketchup and mayo. For dessert, we took our server's recommendation and got the flourless chocolate torte. It was a small wedge with the tiniest scoop of vanilla ice cream ever. Unnecessarily skimpy IMHO. It also came with something crumbly on the side which added a nice crunch. Our server was polite and attentive and knowledgeable. My only complaint was that she forgot my pretzel rolls but she probably did me a favor by not bringing them seeing as I already had two. I would return if someone invited me there for a birthday or special occasion. But I wouldn't go back on my own since I think there are better steak options here.

The night started out with backdoor valet, which isn't free, but I can't figure out where to park in that neighborhood without walking too far in the cold Minnesota weather. Reservations are recommended on the weekend as it can get busy and loud! The service was great and the food from the steak menu had great flavor. The pizza had good flavor, Coppa Cotta, but it was a little too flimsy for me. I liked the marlin crudo, the simplicity, and it was a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors of the other dishes we ordered. I love raw fish, so I am a little biased, my fiance wasn't as impressed as me. The cucumber collins, drink was strong, not taste-wise, but it really just tasted like cucumber water to me. I probably wouldn't order it again. My favorite for the night was the gorgonzola dumplings! So good! I loved the flavors of the dinner that night and we will be back!

My fiance and I have been going on a bit of a food tour since moving to Minnesota a few months ago. There are so many amazing restaurants here and we are feeling very spoiled as we've been trying out different joints. Burch Steak and Pizza Bar kept coming up on our list of places to try out so last Saturday night we finally took the plunge and made a reservation. We were celebrating three years of dating so when my fiance made the reservation he let them know that when they asked. As soon as we arrived for our reservation, they said welcome and Happy Anniversary. That was a nice touch by them actually knowing that information and saying it to us. A lot of places ask for the info, but never actually use it, so Burch definitely gets points for this. We were seated right by the window which was pretty neat. We could people watch to our hearts content during dinner. Overall, the atmosphere was pretty great. We arrived for a pretty early dinner so it wasn't too loud. As the night went on and more people arrived, it got much louder. The best word to describe the atmosphere is probably boisterous. I appreciated the distance between the tables. It made our dinner feel a little more private even though there were so many people at the restaurant. The other room that we weren't in also had clear lines of view right into the kitchen which I love. There is something about watching the cooking go on while waiting for your food which has always been very appealing to me. Overall, the food was very good, although there were a few things that fell short for me. My fiance and I both got starters. I ordered the Charred Brussels sprout salad with frisee and pancetta. It was a good salad. It was chilled (which was surprising to me for some reason), with a sweet dressing. The frisee and pancetta paired well with the brussel sprouts. Additionally there was some sort of goat cheese mixed in which cut the bitterness of the frisee perfectly. It was definitely good, if not just a little bit boring. I think I was looking for a little more complexity in this dish. My fiance ordered the Seared foie gras with cornbread, plum, and kelp. I was totally skeptical about this dish, but tried a bite and it was delightful. The salty and sweet flavors paired perfectly together and everything just melted in my mouth. For our main meal my fiance and I shared the 32 oz prime ribeye for two, the roasted carrots, and the rapini risotto with grilled lemon and mascarpone. We ordered the ribeye Rare+ (between rare and medium rare). It came out and was pre-sliced, which I wasn't expecting. The flavor and cooking were spot on. However, the steak was pretty cold. Don't get me wrong, I know when you order something between rare and medium rare you're most likely getting close to a cool-red center, but the outside of the steak was pretty cold as well. It honestly seemed like it had been sitting waiting for us for quite some time before it made it's way to our table. My fiance and I considered sending it back (it was that cold), but since it was cooked correctly and pre-sliced we were hesitant to do this. We didn't want to send it back and have it returned to us overcooked because they put it back on the grill. For us eating it cold was less offensive than eating it cooked incorrectly. The sides were decent overall. The carrots were outstanding while the risotto was just okay. The carrots were some of the best roasted carrots I had ever have. They were obviously roasted a very long time and had a rich, sweet flavor. They came with some goat cheese on top that added a great element to the dish. Meanwhile, the rapini risotto was a little bitter for me. The risotto was cooked well and had decent flavor but the overall bitterness of the dish was just too much for me. For desert, my fiance and I ordered two deserts to share, the flourless chocolate torte and the coconut cake. When they came out, there was a lit candle on one of the plates and our waitress said happy anniversary to us. It was a nice touch, if not a little odd. Normally I think of a candle for a birthday, not an anniversary. Both deserts were great. The flourless chocolate torte was absolutely sinful. It was melt in your mouth rich, chocolate decadence. The coconut cake was also fantastic. It had a fantastic bright flavor and was very refreshing. As someone who is not normally a coconut person, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Overall, it was a good dinner, but for the price I did expect a little more. I feel bad giving Burch only 3 stars, but I just can't fathom giving it more with the dinner that I had. While the ribeye was good, I have had better, specifically because of the temperature. Some of the other dishes were fantastic, while others fell flat. I definitely will give Burch a try again in the future, but really hope for a slightly better experience next time.

The food was absolutely incredible. This place gives Manny's steaks a run for their money, and that's saying something. I got the grass-fed filet and it was perfectly cooked, moist and tender, the perfect amount of salty and seasoned, just absolutely delicious. Try the house-made steak sauce, it's yummy (but has a little kick to it, so don't use too much right away). We got the roasted carrots and pomme puree (really just mashed potatoes) as sides. I liked the carrots alright, but my boyfriend thought they were the best vegetable he had ever eaten (which is saying something, because he normally doesn't love carrots). I really enjoyed the potatoes. My only problem with the entire experience is that we asked for no gravy on the potatoes (I don't like gravy) and they came with it anyway. It was easy enough to scoop out parts without gravy, but it was a little annoying. For dessert we got the "small treats," which that night were chai truffles, and the Earl Grey Creme Brulee. Whoever thought to flavor creme brulee with tea was a genius. The flavor was incredible. And the presentation was adorable - it was served in a tea cup on a saucer with a tea cookie on the side. I will definitely be getting the creme brulee every time we come back.

What a great place!! I definitely recommend this place. Food and service is perfect. I had the best pizza in the Twin Cities. The wine menu is also interesting. I really want to go back

We went here for our anniversary and were very impressed with the food and atmosphere. The pierogie dumpling was heavenly, as was the endive salad. My steak was perfectly cooked. Was it worth $40? The jury is still out. The potato puree and corn/bacon hash were wonderful as side items. We had a brown sugar cake for dessert, also yummy. With my mouth full of food, I kept saying, "This is my new favorite restaurant, ever." But after such a rich and heavy meal with so much bacon, butter, cream, red meat, etc. I was sick the whole next day! And this girl can usually EAT. So I'm going to say this restaurant was uh-mazing, but there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing."

The concept here seems to be well-conceived. A steakhouse sans stuffy atmosphere and won't require a dinner jacket or the entirety of your last paycheck to cover the bill. The ribeye was good, but I'd have preferred a cut at a similar price point from Murray's, Manny's, Ruth's, Capital, etc. We ordered a handful of sides, but unfortunately most of which were unmemorable. The exception to this rule was the carrots - or sweet potato fries, I'm not really sure. The menu claimed carrots, but between the aesthetic and the taste I couldn't really tell. A+ either way. I had caught hearsay of service kinks, but did not experience any in the slightest. Not a bad place at all, but next time I'm in the market for a steak splurge I'll take my appetite to the established old guard.

This is for the pizza pub. Great food selection, cool bar and fun atmosphere. The fungi pizza was really good. The cheese plate appetizer was good but underwhelming. Nice reasonably priced wine selection.

We had been wanting to try Burch for a while, and decided to celebrate my husband's birthday there this year. It was a fantastic meal-- the steak (He had the Wagyu sirloin and I had the prime beef sirloin) was done exactly the way we ordered and delicious, but the shining star were the sides we shared. We ordered the mushrooms with bacon (best mushrooms I've ever had!) and the lemon risotto. Next time we'll skip the salad and order another side. Dessert was tasty (Chocolate Hazelnut Cake) but a very small slice. We went right at 5 and by the time we left at 6:45 the noise level was quite loud, so go early if you're going with a crowd and want to hear each other. The music isn't my fav, but I'll listen to have a great meal. Love the feel of the interior and the service was great. Looking forward to going back again!

Vistited Burch for the first time and was very impressed. The food was amazing! I think of myself as a very good cook, but could never make a steak taste that good. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the different cuts of meat and what the best way to order them were. One negative is that there were literally 20 servers/bussers just standing up by the counter and they were very overzealous (water glasses do not need to be refilled every time I take a sip nor do plates still being eaten off of need to be cleared). But the food was great and the staff was knowledgable.

The good news for our evening out for 4: nice wine selection, tasty seared steaks, amazing ahi appetizer. The bad: most of the steaks are in the $50 range and come with nothing (compared to, say, Kincaids where veggies and potatoes come with it), the sides are tiny, the table for 4 was about 42" square - way, WAY too small to hold our stuff, the room near the food station was so loud my husband couldn't hear most of the conversation. Total bill for 1 appetizer, 4 steaks, 3 sides, 2 desserts, a bottle of Jordan ($115), 3 drinks and tip (so - we skipped salads and split everything but entrees): Just over $500. I wouldn't recommend for romantic dinner - way too busy and noisy. The 20-somethings in our group loved the vibe. The parents felt we could have a much better experience at many of the other fine restaurants in town.

Burch Steak hasn't been a quiet addition to the Twin Cities dining scene: it has the pedigree of Isaac Becker (112 Eatery/Bar La Grassa) and the bold location of the former Burch Pharmacy on the corner of Hennepin & Franklin. Expectations were going to be high going in. Strong opinions have formed. How does it stack up? From my experience, pretty good! Not perfect, but certainly worth another visit. The highlights are the "dumplings" (which vary greatly in style and ingredients), and the odd spot is actually the steak. Let's take a moment to dissect the experience: If you know the area, you know parking's a premium and, thankfully, the place does have valet (priced high for the Twin Cities at $8, but not outrageous). The decor is urban/industrial chic with exposed brick and beams, what appears to be the original tile floor (or what was saved from it) and open ceilings with giant windows open to the street. Despite the busy intersection I was told they haven't had serious problems with headlights blinding the dining room. The pizza portion of the restaurant is located in the basement, with a wood-fired oven. The staff is courteous and on their game. I'd read some people were unimpressed early on with their knowledge of the menu, but on my visit--a month and a half after opening--I was impressed with our server's command of every major area of the menu (and there's so many interesting items that there's plenty to ask about). For a cocktail I was tempted by the Burch Penicillin, which dared to use Laphroaig, the smokiest of the notoriously peaty Islay Scotches. This is like throwing the gauntlet at a cocktail lover, so I gave it a go--It worked! The smokey beast didn't wipe out all the other flavors and it was a pleasant experience. The table breads including two house-baked items: a solid pretzel bread and an interesting beet bread, alongside a baguette made elsewhere. I still have a personal bias towards the pretzel bread at Gianni's. As a starter I selected from the "Raw" section "Raw foie, hazelnuts, lemon". The staff person that delivered it said it was like foie gras ice cream--I'd say it was more like a decadent, thick mousse flavored like a slightly sweet, creamy foie gras. The portion size is generous and it's accompanied by a thin cracker that has just enough salt to compliment the incredible foie. Very pleased with this dish. I then tried three of the dumplings. These stick out on the menu because, well, they're unexpected at a restaurant with a steak and pizza theme. All three ranged from good to excellent. The "potato pierogi" (with golden raisins, poppy seeds) was the closest to a traditional dumpling. Shaped like a Cornish pasty, the potato was sweetened by the golden raisins and what seemed like just the ever so slightest hint of honey. Even better was the "cheese dumpling" with lamb stroganoff was even better: the lamb enamored my companion who is a connoisseur of cooked lamb. The dumplings in this dish were closer to being large cheese gnocchi. The star of the dumplings for me was the "Veal & pork kinkhali" (with melted butter and chili thread): Kinkhali is a Georgian (Caucuses) type of dumpling with a savory blend of veal, pork and spices. Magnificent, hearty, I would've been happy with three of just this one. The Dumplings may also be the best deal at the restaurant: at $6 each, you can easily fill on two or three of them, depending on your appetite, with room for dessert and appetizers. Now the steak... well, they're good. But there are problems. As any rancher will tell you, grain-fed tastes better than grass-fed so right to the categories of regular beef. I'm a fillet person, so the 8oz called my name. I asked the server if the kitchen erred towards rare or well done in their cooking--he wasn't sure so I went with medium rare. That was a mistake. My steak was medium with a step closer to medium-well. There was nothing even remotely rare about it. Interestingly, other notable reviewers have had the same unfortunate result. Whoever is in charge of cooking steaks back in the kitchen needs to cool it--literally. The steak itself was seasoned just a bit over the line into being slightly distracting. Alongside the steak came three accompaniments: a house-made Bearnaise, pickled mushrooms, and a house-made steak sauce. The Bearnaise and mushrooms were good though not exceptional. The steak sauce was close to being A1: I wouldn't use it unless I truly hated my steak and wanted to cover-up the taste. The steak portion of this menu is priced to square right up against Manny's, Murray's and the chain-expense account restaurants downtown. As such I did not feel the steaks were notable or competitive. In that category, Manny's (or even "Manny's Lite", aka Pittsburgh Blue) is a better option. The dessert bites are a nice light, sweet finish. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Dumplings, and order your steak undercooked from your normal preference. And I've run out of character

Great service. Great Minnesota feel to the restaurant. Great menu choices which are untraditional to steak houses in my opinion but I was not dissatisfied. I really like the quality and type of beef offered in different cuts (grass fed, all natural and prime). The risotto was delicious. The squash soup was amazing and the coconut cake was superb. The pricing wasn't too over board for the quality of food. A great contribution to the restaurant market in Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

Burch exceeded all expectations! My wife and I rolled the dice and dropped by on a Thursday night around 7:30 and were lucky enough to find two empty seats at the bar. The upstairs is a flurry of activity, but it didn't seem too loud and they also didn't seem to pack too many tables in, so it didn't seem like tables were on top of one another. The steaks were way better than what I have had at Manny's, and the prices for wine and steak are surprisingly reasonable. We also had the pierogi dumpling, which was delicious, but you only get one for $6, which seemed high given all the other reasonable prices - that said, it was incredible. Risotto as the side was done with a creative twist that was also really good - I can't wait to go back!

Out of this world! Oh my gosh - you must try this place. I've been here twice now, both times were amazing. The first time I had the bone marrow (not on the menu if you sit upstairs, but they will bring up from downstairs for you). I'd never had bone marrow before and will admit I was skeptical, but skepticism immediately vanished as soon as I took the first bite. No matter how scary this sounds, make sure you try this! We then shared a few of the dumpling offerings, my favorites being the shupfnudel (long, gnocchi textured potatoes in an amazing, creamy sauce), potato pierogis, and the friend semolina. AMAZING. For dinner we each ordered a steak. I like that you can order half sizes, as I want to try a lot of the sides and appetizers, so this allows me to do so and then I can order a less expensive steak at the perfect size. I ordered the 6 oz. grass fed sirloin and my friend ordered the prime ribeye and got sides of the cauliflower and the carrots. The steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious! I loved the roasted cauliflower and the carrots. When I thought things couldn't get any better, they brought out the dessert menu, where I saw my cake listed (coconut cake). Much to might delight, I discovered that not only do they serve my favorite type of cake, but this was the best coconut cake I'd ever eaten. If you're too full for the dessert though, they will let you buy a tiny cookie for a quarter. All in all, an excellent experience.

Do not be dissuaded by the $$$ designation. We had a party of 4 and drank (beer/cider) and ate for 160$ and got everything we wanted, and more. Five stars because.... Atmosphere: We choose the basement, no wait for a table, quieter than the main level, view of the pizza oven, more booths. Very well done for a basement, lighting and space wise. It looked very clean also. Food!: We had two people get steak, 2 get pizza. The pizzas were bigger than expected, about 12" with generous, but not extensive toppings. I had the Funghi and my friend the Salsiccia, both were excellent. The other guys both got Wagu Hangers which neither had any complaints of, but you could sense a slight envy about the fact my pizza was under 20$ and significantly more food. Clams Casino were great too. And as we were all stuffed and making "Wafer thin" Monty Python Jokes we all decided to get small treats. At 25 cents a piece who could resist! Everyone deserves dessert, even the full and frugal! Thats cheaper than getting some Moonstruck truffles , which they rivaled quite nicely. Service: I didn't catch our server's name, but he looked like a server from Portland, total hipster. It was oddly comforting to look up to that blond pomp and those thick black frames. He was on point, quick to greet, answer questions, return with beverages. Everything you want in a server. Most importantly, when we were all "I dunno" about dessert, he talked us in to the small treats, which made us very happy. Tonight we're going to Bar La Grassa, which is apparently the same chef. Can't wait.

Truly a 5-star experience. The grass-fed sirloin was probably one of the 2 or 3 best steaks I've had in my life, and although it was slightly more well-done than the medium-rare I ordered, it still blew my expectations. Our server was very helpful and friendly, but not intrusive, checking in regularly while still allowing us to enjoy our space and conversation. The ambiance was excellent, too. Really relaxing. Looking forward to returning. Driving or walking by on weekend nights, I always see this place full to bursting, so it was a treat to come in on a quieter Wednesday.

While traveling in Minneapolis, Yelp led me to this place (and a few others). Before I go any further, I've only eaten here once. Overall, it was a cool place. Parking looks like it may be a bummer (we found one small space in a lot near the restaurant.) Upon entering the restaurant, you are presented with the choice of eating upstairs or downstairs. We chose downstairs. (I'm not sure if the menus differ between the dining rooms.) The menu was pretty "hip," and offered selections like the foie gras creme brulee, which sounded quite interesting. (I didn't get it... I'll bet it's very rich.) Instead, I opted for something way more boring--the Margherita pizza with their BLG Italian sauage added to it, for a little protein kick. The pizza here is Neapolitan Style, and the oven is located downstairs. (It was a cold night--we were sitting in the table closest to the oven. We got to feel a little bit of heat coming our way from the oven.) The pizza was very good, and was a fine example of what a Neapolitan style pizza should be. My coworkers who were at the meal with me each ordered a cut of Wagyu Steak and were impressed with their selection. (They looked very good.) We decided to finish the meal with a dessert, which we all picked at. We tried ordering the Lemon Tart, with no success (they were out), and instead opted for the Flourless Chocolate Torte, which was probably the highlight of the meal, in my opinion. It was delicious, without being too rich and heavy. Additionally, the Ice Cream that came with it was fantastic. Overall, it appears to be a fairly "hip" place with quality food. It's a little loud for talking business, but it's a solid bet.

I went here with a big group for a friends birthday dinner. It was pretty packed when we were there, but we didn't wait too long since we had reservations. The group got a mix of cocktails and wine. The wine was surprisingly reasonably priced and I enjoyed what I got. As for the food, we got a mix of everything. The dumplings are delicious. I was really surprised at how addicting these were. Everybody got steak. I got domestic wagyu sirloin and it was pretty good. It was a little overlooked, but I did eat the whole thing. I have definitely had better steaks in my life, though. Others at the table got different steals though and they all got positive reviews. Our server was attentive and quick to refill drinks, so that was definitely a plus. Overall, I had a good experience. I will probably try a different steak or even the pizza next time I go.

Terrific meal here with the wife on 3/30/15. We started with the ahi tuna appetizer which was plated beautifully and was full of clean and distinct flavors. Next, we split the 38oz. porterhouse which was cooked to medium rare perfection and sliced off of the T-bone by the kitchen so that we wouldn't have to struggle with it at the table. Served with a bernaise sauce, a housemade steak sauce and pickled enoki mushrooms....perfect accompaniments. We finished the meal with a wonderful slice of chocolate hazelnut cake. Service was top notch and beer and wine lists were very nice as well!

Three words: gateway foie gras. Read on. We came here for a special occasion, with appetites, so we ordered a lot of small plates to share. The dining room (upstairs) typically is the steak half of Burch, and the lower level is the pizza half - however, you can ask for either menu in each location. The vibe is lively, loud, and dress-to-impress. The decor is very minimalist - and this owes to the loud atmosphere - lots of voices in a small space bouncing off of windows, brick and tile. Sit close if you want to hear your fellow table-mates and lean in to your server so they can hear you as well. The cinnamon smoked barramundi was light and flavorful. The cinnamon came through well, more so than the smoke flavor. The cauliflower was pureed very finely and didn't lend much of a flavor, more texture and appearance. It came in about 5 bite-size pieces. It was a great raw appetizer that went well with the sea beans and dungeness crab. This dish is light and refreshing, I highly recommend it. The sea beans are actually underwater greens, they have a nicely salted/oceanic and lemony flavor and are still crisp and crunchy. Goes well with the delicate crab - no fishy flavor here, fresh and inventive. We also had the endive salad, which was a unique twist on a steakhouse classic: the wedge. You get about 2-2.5 endives - they are definitely a slightly bitter lettuce varietal, but very crunchy and the thick cubes of bacon with rich blue cheese dressing help cut the bitterness. It is a savory salad, which ended up being a nice salad to have before the incredibly decadent and ethereal foie gras creme brulee. Now let me give you a rundown of my experience with foie gras: I always take one-bite of a FG dish, typically because the minerally taste can be overpowering to me - and if the FG is not in a puree/paste form, it is much more difficult for me to eat. Now this FG brulee dish is practically a dessert - it arrives with a burnt top as well (the foie is mixed with milk and egg), and it is creamy, fluffy, and light, you could easily fool someone into thinking this is a custard of some sort. There is a slight hint of minerality towards the end, but the orange marmalade and crystallized cinnamon flakes do a fantastic pairing job with the foie topped upon a toasty, crunchy piece of brioche bread. The texture combination is great - this dish should not be missed - I believe this is the foie for everyone, and may actually be the gateway foie for those who treat it with contempt. We ordered the dumplings because this was an intriguing and innovative portion of the menu. The lamb stroganoff dumplings were delicious, two servings of this and I could have made a meal. The dumplings in this dish are tiny, small meatball size, you get about 5-6. The stroganoff is creamy and rich, with pieces of lamb and onion. And the potato pierogi with golden raisins and poppy seeds is heavenly! The pierogi is shaped like a small empanada, and there is a fantastic brown sugar butter sauce. This is a bit of a sweeter dumpling, but not overly sweet - I definitely recommend this pierogi, have never had anything like it! For our main course, we ordered the 14 oz grass fed New York to share. We had it prepared so that the center was still very pink and warm, it was done just this way when delivered to our table. It was fantastic, not too much fat, flavorful and juicy. The steak comes with a homemade steak sauce (with a mild spice kick), homemade Bearnaise and pickled mushrooms. Our sides were the grilled button mushrooms and carrots. The mushrooms were not my favorite, which is shocking to admit as I love mushrooms, however these have an overpowering grill taste which I didn't care for. If you prefer a sauteed mushroom, don't let these fool you, they are most definitely grilled. The carrots were fantastic, buttery and soft, the thyme and chevre accompanied these perfectly. I must try to recreate these at home! All in all, a fantastic night out. The server was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The gentleman taking plates and pouring water noticed a crack in my boyfriend's glass and immediately took and returned with a new glass - we hadn't even noticed, it is nice to have staff that is so attentive of their tables. I highly recommend this spot. It could also work well for a casual night out, as there is a bar to sit at and order food from - but I advise making it a special occasion, come hungry and order and share many of the small plates! Now, I need to return to try the pizza portion of the menu!

PIZZA REVIEW: I'm extremely excited to have discovered this not so hidden gem of a Neapolitan pizza place, conveniently located at a steak house! I am a pizza fanatic. I don't screw around with my pizza. I've been known to travel seemingly crazy distances to find the perfect pie. Everywhere from Italy to Chicago, Miami, and Phoenix. Neapolitan is my absolute favorite and Burch clearly knows what's up. The selection is great. Everything from the standard Margherita to Taleggio, Goat Cheese, and Tuna. My pick of the bunch was the Coppa Cotta that has deliciously rich hazelnuts with pork shoulder. You will find a seafood inspired collection with octopus, lobster, and tuna if you are into that; unfortunately my wife is not. The pizza cornicione(lip) is perfectly charred in all of the right places, bubbles where you want them and air to keep it chewy and light. I could actually taste the beautifully burnt crunches of wood burned dough, and they were great. Burch may not be VPN certified quite yet, but they mine as well take the steps necessary because they are right up there with the game they have. The great news is that even though this is a fine pizza dining establishment, they also have other Isaac Becker(112 Eatery, Bar La Grassa) creations that are simply excellent. The starters, dumplings, and desserts are all excellent, as are the drinks. I had one of the best "Burch Manhattans" I have ever had, and it would have been easy to have about 5 more. Overall, holy crap this is a pizza lovers dream hidden in the basement(or main level now) of a fine steakhouse. Pizzaria Lola will always hold a special place in my heart with the Korean BBQ pie; but newcomer Burch might have just taken the torch for its breadth and depth.

This is my 3rd trip to Burch and honestly- this is the only time I would have given 4 instead of 5 stars. The night was a success- the food was great. It just was not perfect- as it otherwise has been. Night started with drinks in the bar. The bar is super friendly - great bar staff and great selection. Low key- fab crowd- it's fun. After drinks we scored a table by the window next to some friends who were randomly there. Goes to show its a great place. Our table of 4 decided to share apps and dumplings. The dumplings are ridiculous. We always get different ones. I mean seriously, let's be real, a dumpling section of a menu??? Yah- deluxe. I don't recall what we ordered... But I've never had a bad dumpling there. They're legit. Oh the apps- I forgot- overshadowed by the dumplings this time. We usually get the sweetbreads and foie gras but this time we only had the sweetbreads and had smoked scallops instead. My reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is the sweetbreads were overdone. I would have told the waitress but she never came back. They were still good but they were not nearly as good as usual- not as juicy. The sauce on them--- well.... The sauce on everything is ridiculous. These people know how to make a sauce. Steak. Yah. So last time we decided to do the legit wagyu. Smartest and stupidest thing we've ever done. I will never order anything else there for meat- ever. EVER. My husband and I split the 4 oz for 70$. We are wise. Do it. It's beyond delicious- I didn't know meat could taste like that. It's... It's nuts. It's literally crazy. Just order it and thank me later. No dessert this time as our dinner guests have dessert waiting at their house. Nice job Burch- see ya soon.

Will we go back? Absolutely. We arrived during a heavy downpour so street parking was not an option. The valet parking was right there, smiling and courteous a great welcome to our first visit to Burch Steak. The hostess greated us with a smile and 'Welcome'. We were seated by the window, a table for two, just right. The table wobbled and a server was right there to shim and level the wobble. A small bread basket was delivered and then a glass of water and then our server, Miho arrived and welcomed us, we told her it was our first visit and then she asked if we wanted a drink, we declined cocktails and ordered a bottle of Creta Roble Ribera del Douro, a Spanish red wine. She showed us the bottle and uncorked it, then she smelled the cork, smiled, and poured a sample, we both tasted it, a very good 100% Tempranillo. (The wines from the Iberian peninsula are often overlooked but there are some outstanding wines at affordable prices.) Then she told us about the specials. We had looked at the menu online and new what we wanted to try. Two hangar steaks 7oz , one prime beef from Niman Ranch, and the other 100% grass fed, cooked rare. Escargot and cheese dumplings to start and roasted cauliflower as a side. Six escargot, and five cheese dumplings with lamb stroganoff, just perfect for sharing and as a starter just enough, though I could have eaten more, they were very good, Miho stopped and asked how it was so far; the soft roll and crusty baguette slices were perfect for mopping up the garlicky-sorrel butter from the escargot and the sauce from the lamb stroganoff. Miho came and topped up our wine glasses. Then our empty plates were whisked away by another server. Miho delivered the steaks, sliced through and begging to be eaten. We shared the steaks. Oh my they were good, tender, succulent, perfectly cooked inside with a great sear. We prefered the Niman but only just, both were excellent. The roasted cauliflower was also good but over seasoned with a strong umami presence, and perhaps a tad too much salt. That being said we ate most of it. So far this is one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time; it is still not as good as a dinner we had in Ludlow several years ago, that is our benchmark dining experience. Miho was on hand again with the dessert menu. Here we were a little disappointed, the online menu had a Plum and fig strudel but it was not on the actual menu. Our other choice Earl Grey Creme Brulee was, so we had that and the profiteroles. Both were very good, and now the wine was almost gone, every drop delicious and lush. At our age we forgo coffee after dinner, but I was tempted to get a single espresso, I didn't but it was a temptation. Overall impression. Excellent. Location is convenient but parking is on street so use the valet parking. Friendly, attentive staff, our server, Miho, was wonderful. Decor is industrial chic. It was a bit noisy and hard to have a quite conversation as the main room filled up, perhaps some sound dampening baffles in the cavernous ceiling space would help. Prices are on the high side but for the food and service it is worth it. We will most definitely return.

Dessert: The chocolate hazelnut cake was certainly worthy, but the coconut cake was devine. No matter what, do not pass up on the dessert treats - they are exquisite bites to finish off a lovely meal, and they're practically free. Food: We all ordered cheeseburgers and agreed theirs are among the best. Other winners: lamb meatballs, Brussels sprouts and the mushrooms. THE MUSHROOMS! I found the coppa pizza to be interesting, not outstanding, but the rest of the table loved it. We ate in the pizza bar. And yes, It's LOUD. Service was excellent. We'll be back.

Service is a little slow BUT the food and cocktails were great! I had the grassfed filet and it was cooked just like I asked, also the strumfnudel dumpling was very delicious!

So what if we felt like senior citizens having dinner at 5 PM? At least we're senior citizens eating dinner at 5 PM at Burch, which deserves all the hype as the hot new restaurant with the magic Isaac Becker touch (I swear, I can eat at 112 Eatery all day, errrrday). The place is actually pretty big, with the steakhouse on the main floor and the pizza bar in the cavernous, gorgeously lit lower level. Our group of eight was seated right next to the big glass windows, which was nice for people watching, but it also felt a bit awkward having people looking in, especially from the 6 bus that passes by occasionally. God, do I look that tired when I'm on the bus? Yeeesh. Anywho, we were served by two lovely and very competent ladies, who were also very accommodating when I asked to switch out my "penicillin" drink for something that tasted a little less drug-y. It's definitely an acquired taste folks. I had it replaced with a well-executed dark & stormy. We all got a bunch of the different starters and dumplings to share, and they were all perfection. I pretty much stole my friend's schupfnudel with gorgonzola, and loved the veal and pork dumplings. I ordered the fried semolina with brown butter and sage, and the risotto with mascarpone. The semolina was served in these three discs fried in brown butter and topped with crispy sage. It smelled ridiculously delicious and tasted just as good. It's the kind of smell you want to always want to have in your kitchen, like in a jar that you could just open and take a whiff of. The risotto was beyond great. It was fluffy, creamy, a little acidity from the lemon, totally mouth-watering (even right now; DAMN YOU taste memory!). It went really well with the steak, which I ordered medium rare. The steak was yummy, but it also confirmed that I'm just not a steak kinda person. Not that I didn't slather that baby with bearnaise and mauled the whole thing down, because I did. Just next time, I'm sure I'll go for one of their very tempting main entrees. That is, if I don't get lured to the depths of their pizza bar. Or make a meal out of the other small plates that I haven't even tried yet. One thing I know for sure: I may have just found a new best friend.

Ordered the prime ribeye and it was good but I had higher expectations and it was very expensive. It was good just not mind blowing. Dumplings were awesome along with the Brussel sprout salad. Others in my party ordered fish and all were very tasty. I wish I would have ordered the fish! Staff was super friendly. Bartender downstairs was great. We could have talked with him all night. The atmosphere was very loud. Later in the evening as the room emptied it was easier to have a conversation. I liked it but I think my soul mate is Bar la grasa!

Great food. I've had many things on the menu but love the raw marlin and bone in rib eye. I will get in all my indulgences prior to my summer vegan diet... So I'll get back to Burch soon. Loud upstairs; I prefer dining at the bar downstairs.

For the price, go to Manny's. The steaks are coated with a charcoal rub that really doesn't belong there. Sides were good and service was excellent but for what your going to pay its just not worth the price.

I kept hearing how great this place was and couldn't wait to try it. It definitely lives up to the hype. The food was fresh and well seasoned. Sea beans with crab has such a light but powerful flavor. Marlin crudo and sauerkraut were good, but could not outshine other plates. I wanted to try every dumpling listed because they sound so good but we got the schupfnudel, which was rich and cheesy, I can't wait to get it again. Never heard of Zebuton Wagyu but it was delicious. The sear and crust were incredible, and cooked to perfect medium rare. Service was great and could answer every question with detail. I would never set foot in here without a reservation. Valet parking is the easiest parking solution for that area. It is very, very loud because the place stays packed all night but it's worth it. Now we need to go back to try the pizza!

Over priced and over rated. Atmosphere - loud and the cheapest furniture you could buy for a restaurant Food - not bad - very over priced. My steak was a great over salted piece of $ 50 beef which had no presentation and came out on a plate barely big enough to house it... Did Mention how wildly over salted it was? I could go on about how all the food was all par at best, but the pizza is good. if you really want to eat here grab a pizza to go. You'll be real happy about your decision. Minneapolis has some great steak houses. Never ever put burch's in the Same sentence as them

Consistently great food, cocktails and service! I have been to Burch about a dozen times and I normally order seafood or the mushroom pizza. The chocolate hazelnut cake is my favorite dessert in the Twin Cities now! They can also make an excellent French 75 just the way you like it. I prefer mine with St Germaine substituting the simple syrup. Unless you like sitting at the bar, I recommend reservations.

Coming from Miami, Florida we have lots of restaurants to choose from. I can honestly say the food is well worth the price here. If you're looking for a new and fun place to go, here it is. Very full restaurant so make reservation FAR in advance. Even though known for their steak, I went with the salmon entree and it was to die for. Chef recommends it medium rare, but I ordered it medium. My family and I split the oysters, I'm not a huge fan but these were just so smooth and tasteful. I had the Belgian endives, buttermilk, blue cheese, bacon salad as a starter and it was TO DIE FOR. We ordered the side of mash potatoes and grilled mushrooms with bacon and herbs. So so good. And of course, can't forget about the best part - dessert. Earl gray creme brûlée. Our waiter was Rick, very nice, great suggestions as well. Never had to wait for my water glass refilled, and everything lived up to my expectations!

I had an incredible meal at Burch Steak and Pizza Bar. We were a group of 30 and ate in the basement. We had some excellent appetizers that warmed up the taste buds. I had the Rib-Eye which was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Large portion and cooked exactly as a medium rare cut should be. The sides were full of flavor (I recommend the carrots). The best thing on my table was the endive salad. Save room for desert. The lemon tart was great but I sampled the carrot cake and liked it more. The bread and pizza had incredible taste and texture.

One of the new hot (super trendy) spots in the twin cities to get a steak. We went on a Sunday night which was great because this place has a reputation as SUPER noisy - so much so that you have a hard time talking to your dinner companions. On this cold January night, they were only about half full and since I had requested a quieter table when making the reservation (mandatory - even on a Sunday), we were seated well off to one side. As you would expect from one of the most expensive steak houses in the twin cities, the service was outstanding with water glasses kept full (something lacking at most places), fresh silverware arrived when necessary (including some really fancy steak knives) and just the right amount of attention from the excellent serving staff throughout the meal. There were 5 of us and 4 had steak and 1 fish. They have 3 levels of steak Prime (expensive), grass-fed (very expensive) and Kobe (obscenely expensive). We had some Prime and one grass-fed and couldn't really tell a difference in taste or appearance. Each was in the $50 range - for just the steak - doesn't come with anything (except the abundant ice water mentioned earlier and a bread basked) so you will need to order some sides and maybe salads. We had the "chips" - essentially large steak fries but very crispy; poutine like mashed potatoes - very yummy; grilled carrots - super, super sweet and good - so 3 sides, all of which are pretty small - I'd recommend at least 1 side per person to be safe. One other note - ALL of the steaks were about one category BELOW our ordered temperature - so the medium were really medium-rare, the medium-well closer to medium so keep that in mind if springing for the beef. We also had a couple of salads - very good, a couple of drinks and a bottle of wine and the final tab was nearly $500. At these prices, this place is bound to devolve into a special occasion only restaurant like so many others in the twin cities.

Came here on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I were just catching up over wine so no food reviews yet, but wanted to a glimpse of this new buzz place. Glad we did! It's a lively scene both upstairs and down. Upstairs is a bit more formal but we found a couple of bar stools and enjoyed a bottle. The wine selection is varied and there are options for "cheap" to "expensive" . Downstairs appeared to be a bit more casual and we're told from running into friends there, that the wood fire pizza/flatbread is quite good. Ran into another couple while there who said they beef was great. I noticed Burch has three options for beef: natural, regular or grass-fed. The prices did look reasonable for the various cuts. I look forward to trying some grass fed beef soon!

ADDICTED & OBSSESSED. My favorites: marlin crudo, veal & pork dumplings, ribeye (I'm not a huge meat eater but will finish the 40oz ribeye on my own), had a few other sides which were good but could do w/out. Also love the mini dessert platter for a variety of sweets! I already have 2 res set over next 2 weeks. I would be eating here every night if I could. Driving by makes me salivate. Writing this makes me salivate. Need I say more?

I try to visit a restaurant a few times before writing a review. This will be my exception. I can say without a doubt, this review would be replicated every time I would visit Burch (but being that it's price range meets my special-occasions-only, it probably won't be as much as I wish it would). The service was awesome..again, just like you'd hope/expect at a place like Burch. And the vibe is chic and vibrant. Loud at first, but you quickly adjust and take it all in. We had the veal dumplings for an appetizer. Sososo good. The chili thread was a nice touch. Not too spicy but tons of flavor. My lovely date chose the New York prime beef steak (I can speak for a bite of it and it was delicious). I chose the hanger prime beef stake. Gotta say: for a $13 steak, it knocked my socks off. I didn't need that much steak, but the serving amount was impressive and it tasted delicious, too. Our sides were the carrots (chosen by our gut, confirmed by recommendation by the waitress) and puree potatoes. My favorite was the carrots, my date's was the potatoes. That should tell you both were phenomenal. Burch is clever in offering a side bite of truffle for a quarter on its dessert menu. Had to do it. Would do it again.

My first five star review ever . What's not to love about Burch ! Food to die for, Ambience cozy and modern, service was above par . Dumplings , crudo, pizza and Baba rum cake ended a much needed enjoyable eat out. Not to miss the grand finale the little coconut chocolate macaroon. A bite of heaven. It's a classic Issac Becker restaurant! BLG, 112 eatery and now Burch.

Steak is fantastic, perfectly done and great quality. All of the sides/salads/starters were delightful, even to those at our table who don't typically enjoy vegetables! None of us were particularly excited about our wines, but that was okay because the steak is really the main attraction. The seafood is also expertly made- fresh and with just enough seasoning to make it shine. We were too full for dessert so I opted for a cappuccino instead- possibly one of the best I've had at a restaurant. As for the restaurant itself, the open kitchen adds to the experience. Valet is available if you can't find street parking. It was consistently busy the entire time I was there, which was off-peak hours, so I imagine reservations are strongly recommended. Dress nice but no need to overdo it. Overall it's a great place and one I wouldn't hesitate to bring guests to!

Summary for the Pizza Bar in the basement PRO Good price Excellent crust with limited sogginess Exciting flavor combinations CON Weird mozzarella When Burch steak opened up in the old Burch Pharmacy space, I was kind of mourning the loss. It didn't seem like a high end steakhouse would have been a useful thing to have in the neighborhood. Though, when I learned that they had a reasonably priced wood fire pizza bar in the basement, I was ecstatic Their prices are REALLY reasonable for the pizza, with set pies starting a 9 and going up to 25 for fancy lobster pizza. Though, most of the pies are between 9-12 dollars. They have lots of other toppings that are extra. I have so far tried the Margherita, the Fughazza (goat cheese and arrugula), the Pulpo (octopus salad) and the Coppa Cotta (red sauce with smoked ham, roasted pepper and hazelnuts). All of them have been so delicious and come highly recommended. They prescribe to the Neapolitan style of pizza and do an excellent of The crust on their pies are magnificent, perfectly leopard spotted on the outside, soft and yielding on the inside. Unlike Punch Pizza, their pizza doesn't get inedibly soggy in the middle. The soupy middle is a trademark of Naples pizza, but for my tastes, I would much rather do without it, if it can be helped. Burch pizza gets soft in the middle but it's still good. The cornicione (outer rim of crust) is absolutely perfect and I try to save room to eat every inch of it. My one beef is that the mozzarella that comes standard on their pies is strange. Usually on a good Margarita pizza, I expect the mozzarella to melt into milky pools. Burch's mozzarella kind melt into little coins that turn solid within minutes of leaving the oven. They have the texture of string cheese and by halfway through my pizza, I just take them off. The cheese doesn't really add anything to the pie. I don't know what kind of cheese they use, but it really needs to sliced thinner so that it melts better in the oven.

I'm torn on Burch. The steaks are top notch, but very pricey. The location is good, yet the entrance is weirdly on a side street. The interior is nice, but noisy. Trendy. Lots of attractive female clientele. This is a third date place, where a man takes a girl to do things right and ensure a good night.

Recommended by a colleague of mine while out in Minneapolis for business. She hyped it up so I was expecting a great experience and food. I really liked the atmosphere but the food didn't blow my socks off especially considering the price. I was with two other colleagues and they agreed with me as well. I ordered the New York steak which was quite average and did not really do it's job. I loved my IPA though! I would probably not be back.

I was here for a private party and we only had the pizza and salad, but it was delicious and it wasn't even the kind of pizza's I'd order normally. I would like to go back at some point and try the steak. Nice new trendy restaurant in Minneapolis.

Happy to have Isaac Becker in the neighborhood. Love the grass fed steaks (porterhouse for 2 a must), the dungeness and sea bean salad, and the specials. I like the ambience though many complain of the noise. Caveat -- I only do this place on business where I'm not paying. The #2 dessert in the Twin Cities is found here -- Baba Rhum Cake (#1 is the Tres Leches at 112).

The food was amazing. The service left a lot to be desired. Do you ever feel like you're on an awkward first date where there is no chemistry and zero ways to get out of it politely - that's what dealing with our server was like. No sense of humor, no grace. Cold stares. Zero apologies when my drink took 20 minutes to come from the bar, long after everyone else's drink came. There were seven of us crowded around a tiny table while there were tables in abundance that we could've used. The tiny table was then cluttered with all matter of single use dishes, and awkward cutting boards. I'm not saying I don't like their table service program, but if you're going to bring out 32 dishes for seven people, have the good sense to give them enough room to put all of the dishes down. At one point, after dinner was brought out, the waiter stood there as I held two dishes aloft, asking where I should put them....he just looked at me like I was from Mars, and walked away. Don't worry, Burch! We figured it out! The service aside, I have to say that all of the drinks and food were outstanding, thus the 4 star review. The steaks were perfect, juicy, seared to perfection, the insides pink and warm and buttery. The dumplings were all masterpieces, from the walnut gorgonzola to the Krewetka. If you want to know what heaven tastes like, order the fried semolina with brown butter and sage. Finally, a note about the atmosphere. The music came on and off sporadically, throughout the night. It varied from Breakfast Machine from the Pee Wee's Big Adventure Soundtrack to Pomp & Circumstance, which seemed to play for a half hour. Then silence. Is there a jukebox somewhere in there just in need of some quarters? The place already suffers from acoustical issues due to it's gorgeous, simple design, figure out how to make music that accompanies the experience, not brings it to a stop at random 17 minute intervals. I'll be back, as I am now set to crave those semolina dumplings, but I'll be leary of the service until I have an experience that doesn't leave me feeling like I just dropped $600 + tip to experience the cringe of a Nixon/Frost interview.

Not familiar with the Minni scene, went on a friends recommendation, and was very impressed. Great locally sourced foods, and beers, smart, well thought out tasty dishes, including some kind of giant dumpling with a name I can't pronounce that was bomb. I would go again and definitely recommend it.

My wife is the greatest wife. She knows the way to my heart. And that's with a stiff drink and a big steak. Burch delivers on both in a big way. Burch did it well to create a lively, warm restaurant. Big windows, white trim throughout (if I recall right), and thus attracts the young, yuppie crowd. Forget the dark cherry and stodgy service. This is how to do it. We had a lot of great things on the menu, except the dumplings. Given that I'm chinese, I don't remember dumplings being balls of dough. Oh what's that? Other cultures' have dumplings too? Well call them balls of dough, because they weren't dumplings. Anyways, what I loved about Burch is their very reasonable steak menu. They had half portions, grass fed and local options, something for everyone. But not me, I went after the 16 oz Rib Eye. Nom. It was cooked nicely, medium rare, solid crust, although a little salty. No matter, as my aviation cut through that salt well. I liked walking out of the Burch spending less than $150 (even though it was my Berfday! Thanks Mrs. G! just kidding, we're married so it all goes towards a dark hole called Little G's college tuition in 2030).

We went here for our anniversary dinner, and it was amazing. There was such a large range of steak options, and sides to share. We had so much fun trying the small plates and sides, and each ordered a delicious steak. My favorite thing on the menu, was the 25 cent small bite desserts, so you could try out a few. We went to the bar in the restaurant after dinner, and tried a cocktail, which was amazing. The staff and service was wonderful. The ambiance is so cool, not your average stuffy steak restaurant, but very trendy and upscale still.

I took my sister there for her birthday, the food was amazing, not to mention our waiter was fabulous also. The Ahi tuna appetizer was better than any other, the hangar steak was out of this world, and the salad with blue cheese and bacon was mouth watering.... I cannot wait to go back!!

Burch Steak and Pizza Bar is my new favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. This was our third visit since it has opened and we are wowed every time we go. The dumplings are pure genius. Our favorites are the Schupfnudel with walnut, gorgonzola and the Veal & pork kinkhali. The Prime beef hanger steak and sirloin rival any traditional steak house and they serve their steaks with a fabulous Bearnaise, homemade steak sauce and pickled mushrooms. I ordered the Bacon wrapped chicken with pea purée and roasted mushrooms. It was the most tender chicken I've ever had and the pea puree and bacon were a perfect combo. We finished with a Coconut cake which put the entire meal over-the-top. Our server--Allison was exceptional.

I really wanted to like this place more than I actually did, but the whole experience just didn't live up to my expectations. I'm a HUGE fan of Bar La Grassa - it's one of my absolute faves in the Twin Cities, but I guess that playful cuisine that works so well for pasta, didn't play the same for me when it came to steak. I ordered the filet. I asked for it medium to medium well. The chef butterflied it (as asked), but it still came on the very pink side of medium. It had a nice crust with good seasoning, but it was just too pink for my tastes. I much prefer the steaks at Murray's. If that makes me old school, so be it. I didn't try the sauces (I think a good steak - especially a $47 one - should stand on its own). Husband said they were OK. There is a homemade steak sauce and a bearnaise that accompanies the steaks, along with a bowl of mushrooms. We ordered the potato puree with poutine gravy and cheese (bold, vibrant flavors with a soupy mashed potato consistency) and the grilled corn and bacon hash. The flavors didn't meld well for me on the second dish. I get that the sweet of the corn was supposed to marry with the smoky bacon, but I didn't care for it. The chocolate hazelnut cake was fine, if a bit too subtle. The space itself is like Bar La Grassa's warehouse vibe, but with far less character. Big picture windows provide good people watching on a busy corner. Volume level is loud. It's hard to have a conversation when the place is packed (which I understand to be most of the time). Tables are squeezed together tight (even some of the servers were having trouble getting through) so expect to be good friends with your neighbors. Valet ($8) is a must or you're in for a hunt for parking and then a good walk. I don't think I'd come back for the steaks (honestly, there are plenty of other places that do it much better) but I'm still interested in the pizza bar. Until next time...

My wife's birthday... hmmm, what to do, what to do? Why, let's get a bunch of her best friends together for a beautiful Sunday afternoon culminated by dinner at the highly-anticipated Burch Steak & Pizza Bar in Uptown. The ambiance of the place is very cool, and it's entertaining to watch all the (I'll say) distinctive cars on Hennepin coming into Uptown from the highway and downtown (google image search: "donk"). I didn't venture down, but apparently the pizzeria in the basement is fun too. Our waitress was an enjoyable mixture of delightfully friendly and endearing scatterbrain. My wife and I split a medium-rare Hangar steak with mashed potatoes, and a Coppa Cotta pizza. The steak and potatoes were exceptional and the pizza, while being a bit soggy, was still pretty tasty. I was able to try some heart of palm salad as well, which was excellent. At the end of the meal I very much appreciated the 25¢ mini-desserts when my stomach was close to full. And when all was said and done, we paid $69 for food, numerous drinks, tax, and tip. Not too shabby!

Dumplings are the best around. We got 2 pizzas- one margherita and one Speck. It was more than enough food for two folks. I liked the margherita better but can't go wrong with either. Great ambiance (we sat upstairs at the steak section)

I've eaten upstairs once and downstairs twice. Upstairs - Two main points to make about this experience. 1) I had the Prime Beef large flat iron steak. It was an amazing cut of meat for $28. In my opinion, you'd pay at least $10 more for a comparable cut at other TC steak houses. 2) The service was a bit off. I won't go into details, but the multiple people serving our party of 8 never really seemed to be on the same page. Without one primary server to deal with, things just got confused. But I'll chalk this one up to a bad day. Downstairs - The pizza is downstairs! And recently, they started serving the upstairs menu down here. The one thing to note down here is that the pizza is an incredible deal. Amazing neapolitan style pizzas for one or to share for around $10. Get a salad or some apps and you're all set. The pulpo, coppa cotta, and margherita are some of my favorites. The apps are also pretty amazng...particularly the marinated prawns, so you'll want to save some room for these as well.

Been here twice, last time on 20 July. First time was ok (tried the duck, which was on the menu and is no longer there, for good reason). Wife had trout, which she loved. Dumplings were very good. Most recent time, this was a huge disappointment. Went there with another couple, 2 of us ordered steak, 2 ordered the trout. Once again, the trout was raved about. Unfortunately, my steak was a disaster. I ordered the prime filet. First time it came out, it literally was the end of the tenderloin and looked like a lump of meat. Besides the atrocious appearance, it was way overcooked from the medrare I ordered. I sent back the steak and about 5 minutes later, someone else brought back my steak with it cut in half, wanting to verify if the deep middle was med-rare. No apologies whatsoever, and it rather felt like a confrontation. After 20 minutes (I timed it), during which time the rest of the table ate their food, my filet was finally returned. No apologies. Nothing. This time half of it was cooked med-rare perfectly, but literally the other half was bone dry and well done. During the wait, the server never bothered to check up on us. It was like he was avoiding us. When my steak came back out, I requested for my mushroom side dish to be reheated, which was hastily taken and returned in 2 minutes, again with no comments. For the price of the steak, I was very disappointed. I can see maybe once overcooking a steak, but serving a customer a lump of meat (seriously, it looked like they cut the very end of the tenderloin and tried to pass it off to me) way overcooked, then taking 20 minutes for the replacement, with no apologies or verification if the replacement was ok, seems to be very unacceptable. Questions to ask: Why was such a sub-prime appearing piece of meat served, passed off at $ 51? Why was it overcooked? Why did it take 20 minutes for a replacement? Why were there no apologies? Where is the quality of service we should expect for the prices paid? We got the bill, with nothing removed. Heck, even a free cup of coffee would have been an effort, a gesture, to make up for the experience. Nothing. My advice--go to Burch, but don't have the steak. Their ability to cook it correctly, as well as their service and follow up is not worth the $ 51 paid for a sub-prime filet.

My new favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities area. The sweet breads, Schupfnudel, brussels sprouts, and curried lamb entree were all out of this world. I would say just go and order a ton of appetizers & dumplings to get the best sampling, but then you'd miss out on the amazing meats of their entrees. My actual recommendation is to just go there a bunch of times in order to keep trying new things. The atmosphere and cocktails round out the experience. I recommend the Burch Penicillin for a cocktail, very scotch-ey but not so much that you have to sip it slow.

Excellent steak joint (have yet to try the pizza). I love their list of starters and sides (and not to mention the awesome dumplings). My wife started with the ahi tuna (which was really interesting with the celery mixed in.) I started with the roasted beets, pistachios and mascarpone (really delicious, stacks up against some of the best beets I've had - and I get them every chance I get.) Our waitress (who was incredibly knowledgable and helpful) recommended the veal & pork dumpling and it certainly did not disappoint. My vote for best item of the night. For my main, I did the Niman Ranch sirloin (medium rare of course) and it was great. Well prepared and as expected from a great steakhouse. Great place. You will not be disappointed.

My wife took me here for my birthday and I am glad she did. We have eaten at many of the steak houses in town and this is by far my favorite. While dinner isn't cheap its comparative to fine steak houses and the quality doesn't disappoint. Everyone is going with grass fed and free range and all that but they must have fed this cow some amazing grass because the filet was the best I've ever had. I also enjoyed the roasted carrots and the mashed potatoes. The atmosphere isn't to bad either because of the high ceilings and windows you actually can see what your food looks like vs the dark drab steakhouses around town. Overall if you want an excellent cut of beef and some delicious sides this is the place. Well done!

Great atmosphere and staff. There are much better places to have pizza whether traditional or artisan. The pizza too was bready and not memorable. The beet salad was and bibb lettuce salad was ok - again not memorable. The dumplings were pretty good but probably not my tables thing. To sum it up - great staff, great atmosphere, food.....average.

Burch Steak was fantastic. Manny's will have it's hands full keeping up with Burch. Steak was cooked perfectly, we opted to split the double Porterhouse which was a great choice, then you get both the strip and the fillet and 12 oz more than individual steaks ala carte. Drinks were great (Manhattan) outstanding! One of our favorite wines was on the wine list for $33, (cheapest we have seen) The Pedronchelli cab. All in all great! Ordered: sides, cocktails, wine, 2 steaks, one fish, and walkout with a $260 tab with a 23% tip. really Nice! I would look just north of Burch for parking we got a great spot, they also have a lot just north as well.

Burch is a very trending place, and Im glad they are working out in this space because I was a little worried for them pre open. I did not get to try out the main dining room, but a friend and myself went down to the basement for the pizza. Trying to get in to the restaurant on a friday night was a little different in the sense that we cut through the main dining area to get directed to the basement. Had I known the door was actually around the building and to the back area, we would have had an easier time. No worries though, it gave us the opportunity to see all the action from the kitchen throughout...bustling. After making our way to the basement we expectedly were told it would be a 45-1hr wait. No problem, we get drinks at Lyles for cheap (of course). While we wait and catch the Wolves game on the big projector, I get a call from the nice host saying our seats will be ready in 10 min, awesome service on her part, and she even says we can choose to sit up by the front right where the pizza oven is or at an actual table. Why would I not want to sit where I can see the magic happen? So we take our bar seats and order a couple drinks (old fashioned, side car), and then a couple more...they were delicious, what can I say? On to food, I try to get the most random things when I go out that many people would pass on, its a must when you cook in the industry. They cooked everything with a cook staff of 3, but mostly 2 people. I imagine they are prep heavy before the doors open. And the guy slinging the pizzas is pretty quick and good about what he does, I just feel sorry for his back at the rate he is going. Anyway in order 1.Sweetbreads- The taste was good, with a texture like a really good chicken nugget. The bacon completed this dish. 2. Polpo- Marinated octopus, delicious! Balance in flavors, sweet, salt, acidity, and a little bitterness from the olives, not overpowering, just right. Try it, and you can't go wrong. 3. Aragosta-The lobster, or lack of anyway. It was lacking in lobster portion. For $25 I want some more chunk on there! It would have been perfect done in the same manner as the octopus pie. A little lemon would have gone a long way. All and all, this place hit on levels of service, taste, and aesthetic (Eazy E hanging out in the corner). The crowd really ranges from twenties-60's. Great for business and people with extra cash to throw, just not like that guy at the Mall Of America from the 3rd floor.

I'm giving this a 3 for poor people that want their few times spending more to be only at the very best. Filet Mignon was delicious, Sirloin was meh, and the prices probably warranted a little bit more than meh. 40 bucks for decent is probably not the best way to bring people back. I'm willing to splurge occasionally but will think a little bit before doing it here. Service was excellent though, if I am really not wanting to go far, I would consider coming here again when celebrating something. I think you're paying for the location. We had a homeless person wander in and start poking around by the cakes. Which doesn't effect my review whatsoever, I just felt like sharing the story. Ha!

I went to Burch with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday, and it was a really lovely experience. The service was fantastic and the wine and food were pretty amazing. We shared the following for dinner: 1. Lamb tartar with grilled sheep's milk yogurt - I was pleasantly surprised with this dish. The lamb had a nice texture; it was more tender than beef tartar but not quite to the level of tuna tartar. There were spices mixed in and it was easy to pick out the oregano, which added a nice earthy flavor to it. The yogurt was awesome, but there was barely any on the plate so that was a bit of a let down. For tartar it was pretty good. 2. Charred brussels sprout salad, frisée, pancetta, sherry - I really loved this salad. Rather than the salad being made up of chopped brussels sprouts, which I would have expected, it seemed as if the individually charred leaves of the brussels sprouts were pulled off and added to the salad. This gave it more of a salad feel and was really lovely. The whole thing was served cold, and it was nice and refreshing. 3. Veal & pork kinkhal dumpling - This was the oddest dish we tried all night. The dumpling was apple-shaped (and sized) and was basically filled with a high end chili. It was somewhat difficult to cut into, because the meat and sauce poured out of the dumpling as soon as you cut into it. It had a nice flavor, but we just couldn't get over feeling like we were eating a more liquidy version of chili. 4. 40 oz ribeye (natural beed) cooked rare - Our awesome server explained the differences between all three types of beef and recommended we get the natural beef over the grassfed if we were ordering a ribeye, because there would be more marbling (aka fat) due to the cows being fed grain to plump them up during the last month. I don't understand the complaints surrounding the presentation of the steak. Burch is a steakhouse...and like other steakhouses that serve prime cuts of beef, all you get is the steak on the plate (without garnishes) because the steak is amazing enough to stand on its own. The ribeye we had that night had a magnificent char on the outside and was perfectly rare on the inside. I've had some great steaks in my life, but this was on of the best ribeyes. It was thick, properly marbled, juicy, and so tender it literally melted in your mouth. 5. Roasted cauliflower, anchovies, burrata - We chose this side dish to accompany the steak and it was the second best dish of the night (after the steak of course). There was amazing flavor to the cauliflower, brought on by the hint of anchovies and from being roasted. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the so-called burrata. There were negligible pieces of mozzarella on top of the cauliflower that perhaps at some point were part of a barrata, but calling it that was misleading. Otherwise, combined with the steak, this was one of the best sides of veggies I've had in a long time. 6. Babe Rhum Cake - Our server recommended this for dessert, and I'm glad we listened because I probably wouldn't have selected it on my own. The rum sauce you poured over the cake was to die for, the portion size was perfect for the two of us to share, and it wasn't too heavy. It was refreshing and sweet and the perfect end to a really delightful meal. *Our server Sarah was incredibly pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. Her recommendations were pretty spot on, and she made the experience enjoyable. It was the type of service you would expect at a place like Burch. We will definitely be back. The only drawback, which others have mentioned, was that it was super loud inside. Once we got past that we were able to enjoy our dinner. We sat right by the windows, and I loved it; I never once felt like I was in a fishbowl.

What hasn't yet been said about Burch? Well, I will echo that I took the advice of other reviewers and asked for recommendations from our server about what type of steak to order. Good thing: our server Jackie is the smartest person in the world. Thanks to Jackie's recommendation, we ordered the grass-fed hanger steak and, for someone who wasn't even planning on ordering steak, I can honestly say it was the best steak I've ever had. This next part is dictated to me by my husband, Adam R: "My wife is generally tired of steak after sampling her first bite. We ordered the 22 oz. hanger steak to share, expecting that I would eat about 20 oz. Not the case. She matched me bite for bite. And every bite was a reminder that there was one less bite remaining." This was a near perfect meal. We tried things we'd never tried before. Some we liked and some we loved. The wine was delicious, the atmosphere was buzzing, and I left a happy woman. Isn't this what we love about going to restaurants?

After first bite, shoulders hunched, head down, peripheral vision in play and I am gonna eat ALL these donuts before these other kids realize what is going on. If you're quiet Oliver I'll give you crumbs. Sorry, flashback. Start over. After first bite of NY strip-prime, knife and fork never left my fists. Seriously.Sea bean and crab, lovely marriage. Whatever sea bean is. Steak, superb. Breads, excellent, very tasty and varied nicely. Gimlets so smooth I asked after the vodkas name. Gin? Oh, yeah. Per other comments/reviews, Love the windows, if you need privacy, bring a folding screen. Love salt. Just love it. Hah. So there. Potentially very noisy yes. That's probably all the hard surfaces around. Not a problem if you talk just loud enough, but then the alcohol. What can you do. Folding screen?

very mediocre steak and food.. especially for the price. not sure I'll be back. their homemade steak sauce was very odd. the ribeye tasted like they squeezed lemon all over it. my medium rare filet was over cooked. the steaks definitely did not have enough seasoning. after reading the reviews I had high expectations and I was extremely disappointed. I would not go back when craving steak... however, I do want to go back and try the pizza.

I went there last night for a dinner. Being someone who doesn't eat steak that much, I ordered the grass fed sirloin and it was tasty, but didn't really blew my mind away. We ordered 4 sides --- The Cheese dumpling, the Potato pierogi, mushrooms and the cauliflower. They were all delicious. My favorite were the mushrooms and the cheese dumplings. We also ordered the lobster pizza to share as an appetizer (you can order from downstairs pizza bar and visa versa). It was good but nothing special. Overall, I liked the food and restaurant but wasn't extraordinary. The menu was bit pricey.

Burch is a very good new steakhouse that lives up to its early rave reviews. Very convenient valet parking too. The upstairs dining room is the place for steak served in a variety of portion sizes at a price for everyone's budget.

MARCH 2013 - See below for an update!! Great location, ambiance, etc - I was very excited to go to Burch.... The wait was 45 minutes for a walk up but there was space at the communal tables at the bar area so we nabbed it right away. The menu looked fantastic, ordered a few oysters, some cocktails, the dumpling soup and the butternut squash escargot to start. I asked the waiter to explain the steak differences and he said "the cuts are different." I countered that, for example there is a sirloin on each section of the menu so what is the difference between grass fed, natural and prime and he said the prime it better because of the price difference. I started to wonder if he'd ever eaten at the restaurant before.... Cocktails came, the manhattan was ok and the Prado was bitter in a bad way. Not like a digestif, just bad. Oysters were fantastic, dumpings were tasty, butternut was really delicious but the escargot was lost in the flavor and should have been left out. We ordered 12oz sirloin prime and 6oz sirloin natural. The presentation was AWFUL, the 6oz looked like a charred lump on the plate all by itself and the 12oz filled out the plate nicely but was still just plane looking. I was so put off that tasting it - it was wonderful! - was marred by the presentation. When the waiter stopped by and asked how it was, I commented that the grass fed was more tender than the prime, he said, "it's because they are different cuts of meat." No - they were both the sirloin. He maintained that they were different cuts and walked away. Finally we got the risotto which was bitter with too much lemon rind, but otherwise very tasty. Overall, it was overpriced with a staff that had no knowledge of the menu. The drinks were not good and I have no desire to go back. Too bad, I was hoping for more. UPDATE: December 2013 I went back with a group and sample many different small plates, dumplings, entrees, etc and I am still underwhelmed. Drinks were better, service was better, the place is still cool - but it was only fine. It was good. No complaints. But you know that experience when you try a dish and it's so amazing that you want everyone else at your table to try it? That didn't happen. Not to me and not to anyone else in our group. It still seems expensive for the experience. The quality is good but the execution isn't special. I gave it a second chance and I went in with a positive attitude. I had a great time because I have great friends, and yet I have no interest in giving it a third chance.

Celebrated my birthday with friends at Burch steak. Great service with all of our courses timed out nicely. We started with the marlin crudo, sprout salad, Bibb lettuce with ranch, semolina dumpling, pierogi and butternut squash soup. Entrees we had the natural sirloin, pork shoulder, natural 28oz ribeye for 2, risotto, carrots and cauliflower. For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate and earl grey creme brûlée. Ambiance is nice with lots of mirrors along the brick walls and big windows overlooking Hennipen avenue. Lots of energy in the place. We dined from 530 to 8 and didn't notice it being too loud.

Went on a Monday, wasn't very busy. Service - Great Food - Pretty darn good. We got a pizza (BLG sausage - yum) and bunch of sides: Corn & Bacon hash (awesome), Pierogi (awesome), Semolina (awesome), the salad with ranch (ok). I still prefer a punch pizza, the crust on this one was slightly more chewy, but would definitely order again. Valet - is there another option to park around here? great idea I'll have to try a steak next time!

Alright Isaac Becker, you win again! Another fabulous place helmed by the chef-owner of 112 Eatery and Bar la Grassa. I have to admit that when a new place garners this much early praise, part of me wants to find things wrong with it. This is hard to do at Burch. I should start out by saying that this review is for Burch Steak - I have not had the pleasure of meeting their pizzas yet. I had the good sense to make reservations about 3 weeks in advance, which secured me the coveted 7pm dinner slot on a Friday night. They have valet, which is amazing considering the parking in the neighborhood is not exactly easy. We were seated promptly, right next to the huge floor to ceiling windows along Hennepin. The restaurant is kind of split into two - one half showcasing the open kitchen, while the other half houses a large bar and more seating. Our waiter came over right away and took drink orders - they have what looks to be a fantastic cocktail menu, although we stuck with beer and wine. The menu looks quite small, but looks are deceiving. It is split into sections, including raw bar, salads, appetizers, dumplings (!!!), sides, steaks, and entrees. Now, I'll just go ahead and say that everything we had was amazing, but some of the highlights were the salmon tartare - a-may-zing, the krinkhali dumpling (sp? but so so good), the pierogi - don't miss this, it's delish and floating in brown butter. The steaks were all great, high quality, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I tried not to compare to Murray's (I know, I know, two totally different places) but it was hard not to. The wine list was so well put together, great options and great prices. The desserts were pretty good, I liked mine the best. I had the madeleines, which were great but dusted with powdered sugar, which I'm not a huge fan of. The madeleines were light, and fluffy and just the right amount of sweet once I shook the powdered sugar off. And here is my only complaint (which isn't enough to dock any stars) the restaurant was SO loud. I mean, loud. I went to a bowling alley the next night that had bad 90's music blaring and it wasn't as loud as this restaurant. I'm fairly certain my voice was hoarse at the end of the night. Maybe once the buzz dies down a bit it won't be quite as bad? Get yourself here, just know that you'll probably need a reservation to do so!

This review is for the pizza section only - might up the stars once I get to try the steak side! Bottom line - this place is so so loud. So loud. My friends and I could barely here eachother and were all talking about how sore our throats were on the way home. The pizza is good but, like another Yelper mentioned, is similar to Punch but double (almost) the price. The service was fantastic besides the fact that each person's pizza arrived 3 minutes after the last person. Weird and not ideal but not the server's fault. He had great wine recommendations and was attentive with the water (never refilling waters is a huge pet peeve of mine). Besides the noise level downstairs, the atmosphere was really fun and hip and the place was crowded even on a Tuesday night. I think a lot of the issues are still due to how new the place is and they will hopefully be worked out to make Burch even better!

This review is for the Pizza Bar only...will go back to try the Steak portion another time. We tried to Funghi (our favorite) and the Coppa Cotta and shared both. PLENTY of pizza for 2 people and super delicious....not to mention cost effective (about $12 for each of us, didn't have drinks) Atmosphere was fun...a bit loud but not horrendous. Great, attentive service and super fast as well. No complaints at all! Will definitely go back!

I love Burch, I really do. I love their upstairs menu, with it's odd matrix of steak options (size versus relative happiness of the cow, if I interpret what they ate that way) and variety of dumplings with surprisingly hot, incredibly delicious centers, as well as their expertly made pizzas in the lower level. I love that I can go out to dinner with the kids in the lower level without worry, but order off the upstairs menu. But I find the noise level shocking. It's not as if there's live music playing; that would help explain the cacophony in that room. I can not hear what anyone is saying - at all - on the main level at prime dinner time. Go for the food, but if you want the option of smart dinner conversation without yelling, go to the basement and order off the upstairs menu.

We had a great time at Burch tonight. Three of us stopped in to get a drink and some appetizers upstairs at Burch Steak. The restaurant is huge and the open expo kitchen is pretty marvelous. I can't wait to return and try the pizza downstairs. An extended review is on my blog!

This may be my new favorite location for steak. We started with a drink at the bar downstairs in the Pizza Bar while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Since we were eating upstairs in the main dining room, we didn't order anything, but the pizzas looked delicious and smelled even better. As other diners have said, it was quite loud. Once we were seated in the dining room, which is beautiful, we ordered the raw blue shrimp and a dumpling to start. Both were outstanding. I had never ordered raw shrimp before, but I am glad that I did. It came with a citrus sauce that was the perfect compliment. For dinner, my husband and I split a small grassfed steak and the scallop and boudin sausage to share. Blown away. Best scallop I have ever had and the boudin was melt in your mouth. The steak was perfectly cooked and rich and buttery. The brussels sprout salad we ordered came out late, but it was the perfect accompaniment to our main course, so we didn't mind. The couple we were dining with also shared a steak, the market fish which was alaskan cod with a celery root puree as well as the grilled mushroom side dish. We all shared and tasted each others meals and I can honestly say that EVERYTHING was fantastic!!!!!!!! For dessert, we ordered the small treat which were chocolate dipped coconut macaroons. The perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Highly recommend a visit! We can't wait to go back. There was so much on the menu we wanted to try!

This is going to be a mixed review, anchored by an unusual complaint. Namely, that Burch is just "too much." The first impression when entering this steakhouse is a sense that the space is overly large; the ceilings are quite tall, and the floor plan is so open as to feel a little overwhelming. The music playing when my girlfriend and I walked in was "This is Hardcore," by Pulp. A personal favorite, but not really appropriate for a place that charges as much as $90 for a single piece of meat. The ensuing (loud) musical playlist ranged from Black Sabbath, to DJ Shadow, to Nirvana, and detracted somewhat from the enjoyment of the meal. The two of us were seated at a four-top table that could have fit six, reinforcing the exposed and unromantic vibe. Our food was pretty good, but again, quite... overpowering. Our oysters were of high quality, but dwarfed by their flavorful companion sauces. My starter was fantastic, a cold-smoked barramundi served with an intricately minced cauliflower garnish that gave the impression of coleslaw, and a tangy-smokey aioli. Great tastes and presentation, if a bit difficult to eat (a serrated knife would have come in handy). My gal's foie gras creme brulee deserved its numerous Yelp raves, hitting a fat/salt/sweet trifecta, but she felt overloaded after eating only half of it. My grass-fed NY steak was a perfectly prepared medium rare. However, the accompanying sauces and pickled mushrooms were so intensely flavored that I began to feel like I'd been gargling with salt-water. Her side of cauliflower was nicely roasted, but swimming in oily juices, while my tasty lamb and cheese dumplings were so rich that I struggled to finish a modest portion. (I pulled it off, though. I'm a trouper.) There was ample, dedicated parking adjacent to the restaurant, and the host station was well-staffed. Our server was friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive. He fulfilled my girlfriend's reservation note suggestion to include a birthday candle with my dessert. I mention this as a positive, as it is depressingly common for our Cities' finer establishments to ignore such directives. The gingerbread cake in question was one of the unqualified highlights of the meal; basically a deconstructed, soft gingerbread man (with spiced icing on the side), served with a tasty pumpkin ice cream. Perfectly sized, good mix of light and heavy elements, and subtly flavored. It seems weird to complain about a restaurant's food being too flavorful, or too richly prepared, but there it is. Having had a similar experience at another "alternative" steakhouse recently, I wonder if I just don't GET something about steakhouses? The menu at Burch Steak and Pizza Bar clearly encourages multiple small plates, yet complying even modestly (3 -- 4 dishes apiece) left us feeling somewhat pummeled. Despite having enjoyed some standout flavors and presentations, I spent the remainder of the evening checking my heart rate and babying a leaden, fat-laden stomach. This is a shame; given a bit more restraint/balance, Burch could be a real winner.

When I was told that one of my favorite chefs, Ian Becker, was opening another restaurant I was anxious to try. And when I discovered that he was dedicating the cuisine to two of my favorites, pizza and steak, I knew I needed to go as soon as I came back to the twin cities. I secured a single reservation on a slow Tuesday evening and drove through normal rush hour traffic to Burch, the newest addition to the growing list of great restaurants in Minneapolis. The parking is difficult and valet for $8 seemed a bit high, but well worth the price. Once you enter the restaurant you see a large dining area directly in front of you that seats 50+ overlooking the open kitchen, a la BLG, and to the right is another large dining area with a bar that seats 20 and table seating for another 50+. The spaces are quite large, yet the use of woods, soft lighting and large windows gives the feel of romantic meets hip, they did a great job on creating a cool, yet intimate dining environment. The menu is typical Becker-eclectic, combinations of flavors that you would never expect; his genius in combining flavors and textures shine with every dish. I am a huge carnivore and the list of grass-fed steaks was amazing. You can choose either 100% grass-fed to grass-fed or grain finished Niman Ranch Natural (Choice of Prime); then various cuts within each category; then you choose a medium or large sized chop. A steak is great but I wanted to taste the combinations of flavors I have grown to love at 112 and BLG. I designed a personal 3-course adventure, starting with the "Lamb meatballs" with carrot slaw, followed by the "Spicy soft shell crab" with lime and yogurt and for my main course I chose the "Coppa Cotta" pizza made with wood roasted red peppers, smoked pork shoulder, mozzarella, and hazelnuts and I added some BLG sausage (I thought it needed a kick). As I waited, the server (who was fantastic) brought a basket of three breads, slices of a baguette, a slice of beet bread and a pretzel roll. They were warmed, which I always appreciate. A bite of each was very disappointing. There was all flavorless, and even the beet bread was boring. The good news was that I would not fill myself on the breads. The meatballs arrived, five skewered meatballs, each slightly larger than an inch, plus a mound of slaw. I would not characterize the slaw as carrot slaw, but a delicious and slightly spicy combination of red cabbage, arugula, red pepper and carrot, accented with just a hint of cilantro. The meatballs were seasoned with Middle Eastern spices, with rich earthy spices. The meatballs and the slaw were each delicious on their own and together the spiciness of the slaw perfectly complemented the richness of the lamb; and the addition of the cilantro was delightfully subtle. The soft shell crab was a single small- medium-sized crab dusted with a slightly spicy coating and fried. Sitting atop the crab was another mound of a different slaw from the meatball version, this one tinged with a citrusy lime background. The crab was nestled in a yogurt dressing which was further accented by a circle of olive oil. The slice spiciness of the crab, combined with the citrus slaw was a great combination and then both were cooled by the yogurt. Another fantastic dish. The pizza arrived. The first item I noticed was the color of the crust, it was more blonde than I expected and had a few circles of char, indicating the oven was piping hot. I first tasted the crust and it had a great flavor, one of the best I have ever tasted. The kitchen was not shy with the topping and I think they removed the pizza about 30 seconds too soon, since the dough at the center was not crisped enough to handle the topping. I was required to use a knife and fork for the first tastes of the center. The tastes were perfect. And the key differentiator to the pizza was the addition of the hazelnuts, yes the hazelnuts. How this idea came to be is unknown, but the addition created a level of flavor and texture I have never tasted. In addition the mozzarella cheese, the peppers and the sausage were great. The smoked pork shoulder was sliced in the manner of prosciutto and was the least flavorful of the toppings. Since I added the sausage I wanted to taste the pizza as designed, so I removed the sausage from one of the slices. The taste profile of the "as designed" pizza was more mild in flavor and still delicious. But I think adding the sausage created a much more flavorful choice. I had no room for dessert, but wandered over to the cake display and almost wished I ate one less slice of pizza to leave room for one of these options. They looked fantastic. Overall this is a go-to restaurant only weeks after opening. I only wish Becker would consider expanding his geographic reach and bring these flavors to Connecticut. His food would be incredibly well received.

This is the hip new spot in Minneapolis to be seen. I literally had 5 valets tripping over each other to open the door for me. I went before they had even officially opened, so they were still working out a lot of the small details. So I will have to go back later and revise my review accordingly. The ambiance of this place is spot on. It doesn't feel like Minneapolis. I'm not big on steak, so I ordered the pizza. It was quite good. They said it would be Italian style and thin, it wasn't as thin as I expected based on that comment but it was thinner than some places. My biggest problem, as another reviewer mentioned, was salt. They used way too much of it. My pizza was a little salty. Still edible, but it definitely was noticeable and took away from the experience. They had an amazing dessert table with lots of great options, but not sure why one small dessert costs as much as my entire pizza. I will definitely need to go back once they've figured everything out and check it out again.

Ambiance is nice, the service is okay at best, the drinks are awesome! But the totally ruined my birthday, my friends bought me $100 in awesome cupcakes, upon arrival we were told that we could not serve the cupcakes at my bday dinner...I have never heard such a thing.

I was really looking forward to eating at Burch, and expectations were high after consistently appreciating Bar La Grassa and 112 Eatery. Burch did not live up to my expectations, and in fact was a major dissapointment. When we arrived on a Saturday evening for reservations at 7pm, the restaurant was full. There were many people standing by the front desk. After a while we finally were able to speak to the attendant, who told us to wait in the bar. I asked him how he would let us know when our table was ready, and he said he would call my cell phone! We went to the bar, which was so crowded that everyone was standing on top of each other, and the waiter at the bar could not get through for orders. At 7:15 (reservations were at 7pmm) I walked back to the front desk attendant, who said he had a table. If I had not sought him out, I'm not sure how much more late we would have been to our table. The restaurant is very open and noisy. We sat down at our table and could hardly hear each other. Noise is a real issue. The tables are close together, and it all feels real crowded. We also sat next to the window, and it was really cold! Poor ambiance. The waitress was with us shortly after we sat, and she was nice. The appetizers and wine were served in an expeditious manner. The pacing for the entrees was poor, and it took a LONG time to receive our entree's. Our friends ordered steak, and the presentation of the steak was terrible. Just a steak on a white plate. No creativity in presentation at all. My Ahi Tuna was small portion, and tasted pretty bland. The pricing of the food was high in relation to the taste, presentation, and quantity of food. A big disappointment. The restaurant feels like it is designed more for profit (ie seating as many people as you can in a noisy warehouse) than it does for quality food, great service, and fantastic ambiance, as none of those were present.

At first glance it looks hip and modern; however, seated in the dining room reveals it to be a loud (we actually asked to have the music turned down so we could hear each other across the table) obnoxious place where you obviously come to be seen and NOT heard. As for the food, we ordered the tuna as a starter and it came without the lime a sea salt -- so it was rather tasteless. In their defense, when we told them, they did have it made 'the right way,' and it was much better and much more fitting with the expectation. For our main course, we ordered steaks (what else?) and were horribly disappointed. I could cook a better steak at home. Everyone I know that has visited has said the same thing: a better steak can be had at home. I don't think we'll ever go back.

I needed a few days to recover from my Burch'ing last Saturday night, and all I can still say is "Oh. My. God." It was the phrase of the night when my family and I dined on oysters, fish, steak, libations, and desserts in a night of indulgence - a true dining experience. #FTW Atmosphere: Warm, inviting, bustling with energy with a hint of Midwest luxury. Drink: The wine list is EXTENSIVE. Our table split a bottle of merlot, but I decided to cocktail it for the night. The cucumber cocktail is light and refreshing, as is the white wine sangria with lavender. Food: Per suggestion of our server, we started with the schupfnudel, walnut, gorgonzola dumplings, and thus began our evening of "Oh. My. God." Gnocchi-like in taste and texture, these rolled noodles live in a buttery, rich pool of gorgonzola that will have you licking the plate in front of the Twin Cities' finest. No shame. For entrees, our table savored the scallop/foie bouin blanc/carrot puree, salmon/braised artichokes/parmesan broth, speck wrapped trout/crab salad, marcona almond yogurt, and grass fed New York steak. The three seafood dishes were fantastic, full of exciting flavors, and rich. I never order steak for myself, but thoroughly enjoyed trying a multiple pieces along with the tangy sweet house-made steak sauce and pickled mushroom accompaniments. We ordered the sautéed kale and grilled mushrooms as sides; both were excellent, but I'd be willing to try other sides the next time around. For dessert, which we rarely have room for, we shared the lemon tart - which makes my mouth water just thinking about it - and the caneles with taleggio honey - petite spongy pastries with custard centers. The entrée portions are not typical steakhouse, over-the-top, large-and-in-charge sizes. They're perfectly sized and allow you to save room for ordering starters, sides, and dessert. Crowd favorites: schupfnudel, braised artichokes (from salmon entree), foie bouin blanc, pickled mushrooms (accompaniment to steak). Service: Our server was incredibly helpful and excited to recommend dishes to us as we, at times, were overwhelmed by indecision and sheer joy - a deadly combo in the restaurant realm. We left Burch feeling completely satisfied in body and soul. Our experience was nothing short of top-notch in every way. We used to be a Manny's family, but I have feeling that we're now a Burch family when it comes to special occasion outings. If you're looking for an adventurous steakhouse experience (seafood lovers included), ring your bell at Burch!

I wanted to love it but left wanting more. The space is great and location is just at the beginning of awful Uptown. Parking was easy--one can park themselves on the street or there is $8 valet, who accept cash or credit. I just love the loud, open space and the crowd, ranging from newborn to grannies. The service was very good, friendly and attentive but not too attentive. We started with two starters (le-appetizer) of foie gras and a shrimp dumplings. The duck was mild, delicious, buttery. Even though we didn't understand the ingredients, the final dish was great. The dumps were the best part of the meal. Oh my...very good! I got a prime sirloin and the mushrooms for my main. The mush had bacon, herbs and was nice/hearty. My steak had a nice char and appeared to be just slightly over cooked. It was tough to cut but I thought the first few bites were good. Needs salt. More tough cutting (to be fair, part was due to the knife). More salt. Try the bernaisse and housemade sauce. More salt again. I'd go back again but only for a drink and some of the dumplings.

Steak (4 stars): I eat steak about once a year, and when I do I want it cooked well and 100% grass fed. I got that at Burch, and more. These folks always do a great job with their restaurants and the Burch is no exception. Our entire experience was top notch. What I liked more than my steaks was the appetizer and sides, yum. Our waitress was great. Our table was perfect - right across from the kitchen, which we always enjoy. Everything was well done, nothing felt stuffy - more casual (perfect!). We would come back. Pizza (3 stars); We also ate at the Pizza Bar downstairs. They did a great job with the remodel, you don't feel like you are in some scary old basement, but a hip hideaway. Service was good. Pizza was okay - we weren't wowed. Choices are a bit odd, not in a good way. Everything we ate was good, but we don't feel the need to rush back.

Steak great! Rabbit appetizer great! Bread great! Decor great! Sunchoke side okay. Risotto okay. Service sub par. Acoustics....a bit too loud.

From the call for our pre-Guthrie reservations, until the check was paid- EXCELLENT. The Salmon Tartare, the Tempura, the Flatiron steak & Monkfish were absolutely delicious... however: it's true, the presentation of the steak was surprisingly bad. Not even a sprig of parsley or a carved radish :( The service was fabulous, prices reasonable, TWO THUMBS UP !! I'm so glad this place is at Henn/Franklin and NOT Uptown ! Hat's off !

This is for the pizza bar downstairs. We went a couple weeks ago and sampled a few pies and some sides as well. I have to say I actually thought the sides were the best part. The pizzas were good as well and the room is nice. It was loud. Good drink selection. The parking situation is probably my only complaint.

I'm very new to the fine dinning scene. Burch is probably way out of my league but I decided to give it a try anyways. I'm glad I had someone with me that knew the menu but the servers were very knowledgeable and answered any question I had with ease. I ate in the upstairs dinning room and loved that I could people watch through the many windows facing Hennepin Ave. We started with a few appetizers, the marlin crudo and the potato pierogi dumpling. The marlin was great but the pierogi was just too sweet for my liking. For our main courses we ordered the 6oz wagyu sirloin steak and Tonno Diavolo pizza. The pizza was very spicy, just the way I like it. Being from farm country its hard for me to justify spending $20+ on a steak, but I was pleased with what I got. I ordered it medium well and it was cooked perfectly with great flavor. We didn't have room to fit dessert but I hear its fantastic. Overall I was happy with my first "fine dinning" experience. My hats off to the staff.

Had a great meal here a few days after Christmas, paired with an annual trip with my cousins to the British Ad Awards at the Walker. The ad awards ran later than we expected so we were late for our reservation and our table had been released. However, the staff worked hard to figure out an alternative on a busy Friday night, and we ended up at the communal table, which worked fine. I honestly can't remember which of the steaks I had, but it was amazing, and our server was great at walking us through the options and providing ideas for wine pairings. Our table also shared some apps/sides - the roasted beets and the carrots were good but didn't blow me away, and the salmon tartare was great. The standout, however, were the mushrooms, which we all agreed we could eat a bowl of as an entree. Look no further if you need a high-end dining experience in Minneapolis!

This is my second time here and I gotta tell ya..I hope it's not my last. The food was beyond just good, it was excellent. My Wagyu Hanger steak was the tastiest I've ever had. Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. That is until I had a taste of my son's (birthday boy) Bone-in Ribeye for Two...Yikes, it melted in my mouth and had awesome flavor and texture also. Side dishes where just as creative and delicious. Not only does this place have great steaks...you can order Pizza's also..We didn't do the pizza's this time, but I have had then in the past and there awesome..No negative aspects of the experience other then my stomach couldn't handle anymore food. :)

Had dinner there last night with some friends and had a very nice time. The owners sank a lot of money into the build out and it was quite nice inside. High ceilings huge windows beautiful. The food was good but it's very much a meat place so I just had a bunch of small dishes and they were very tasty. The portions were a little on the small side but the food was good. Nice bar we had a couple of beers and it was a great selection and the staff was friendly. The service was excellent and very attentive. The only reason why I am going four here is because the prices are high and the portions are small. Also, the pizza was not cooked well very doughy.

I love BLG. Let met say that in caps, so you really understand: I LOVE BLG. When I heard that the extremely talented Isaac Becker was opening another restaurant (and one with pizza AND steak) I was beyond excited! I received a gift card for Burch for my birthday and literally made a reservation the minute I opened the card. My expectations were very high, as I think very highly of the other 2 Becker establishments. And I have to say, every single expectation was met and then some. It was nothing short of superbly beautiful scrumptousness. We made reservations for a Saturday evening dinner around 6:00pm (do not think you can just walk into this place, its reputation precedes it... tremendously - make a reservation and look forward to that glorious day). We sat downstairs in the pizza area. Do not be discouraged when you call to make a reservation and they ask you if you want to sit downstairs or upstairs, you get the same menu in both places. Downstairs is more casual and upstairs is more formal. Our server was attentive and very patiently walked us through the menu since we had not been there before. We started with some cocktails - I had the Knob Creek cocktail (apple, cinnamon fabulousness) and Bob had the Corpse Reviver (I do not know what was in it - but it had some ZIP). We started with the pierogis. HOLY GOD. They were AMAZING! Served with brown butter, chestnuts and golden raisins... it took a significant amount of restraint not to lick the plate clean. Then we decided to order one pizza and one steak. We figured we can easily take the pizza home and enjoy it the next day. We went with the Coppa Cola (our server recommended it) and for the steak we had the Manhattan (from the domestic Wagyu menu). The pizza is thin, crispy, coal fired and wonderful! The sauce was amazing, the toppings perfect and the crust that perfect balance of crispy and chewy. The steak was literally the best steak I have ever had (this is including Mannys, Capital Grille, Pittsburgh Blue). We ordered it rare plus and it was perfect. It was literally like butter. It had a nice salty charred crust on the outside and was simply perfection. We ordered the roasted cauliflower with anchovies as a side and I had no clue cauliflower could taste that good! Naturally, we ended with dessert - Bob had the Baba Rhum and I had the caneles with Taleggio honey. OMFG. They were both life-changing. Seriously. The caneles were perfect - that dark mahogany crust and the ooey gooey center with fabulous honey (with real honeycomb in there) and some cream. The Baba Rhum was buttery and dense, soaked with a rum simple syrup. For price, you are looking at what you would pay at either 112 or BLG. Personally, I think for the food and service, it is a steal. I had such an amazing experience at this restaurant I made a reservation to come back BEFORE we left for the night. Isaac Becker does it again. And let's hope (for all of the Twin Cities' sake) he keeps going!

I wanted to love this restaurant because Isaac Becker and his team do restaurants so well. I didn't love it- but I liked it and would go back. I started with the brussel sprout salad which was very good. Then I had the salmon which was very good but the flavor profile was a bit bland. For a side we had the cauliflower- again good not great. I think that is how I felt about the whole meal- good not amazing and not incredibly tasty. It didn't leave me craving the restaurant but I would definitely go back. I do recommend the lemon drop martini but maybe not two of them. They were very strong. For dessert we ordered the .25 small and I emphasize small truffle. It was a perfect to end the meal with.

Burch sits on the edge of the Lowry Hill neighborhood, set in a space that combines historic brick surfaces with a modern sheen. Mirrors along the wall opposite the open kitchen allow a view from those facing away. There's a separate bar area that includes plenty of table seating. Entry is off of the west (Colfax) side of the building. Valet parking ($7) is available and basically required in this neighborhood, unless you plan to arrive early and walk for blocks. We were seated promptly for our Thursday 7PM reservation. The restaurant was nearly full at that time. The drinks menu has a pretty complete selection of wine by the glass and a solid craft beer selection. Based on other Yelp reviews, we selected the charred Brussels sprouts salad and the cheese dumpling with lamb stroganoff as starters. Both were outstanding. The sprouts had great flavor -- balancing the char with the earthy flavor of the sprouts, and the pancetta was an excellent accompaniment.. The dumpling dish was equally as good -- the cheese dumplings were steamed, and each were about two bites, and the drizzling of the lamb stroganoff provided a counterpoint to the cheese flavor without overwhelming it. Our server described the categories of steak as progressing from less to more marbling as you move from the grass fed beef to the Waygu. While it would be interesting at some point to order a four oz. steak that costs $70, we instead decided to select from the grass fed section of the menu -- one small and one large Sirloin. I ordered medium rare, and the steak arrived as requested, with a tasty char on the outside that was not overpowering. The only criticism I'd have on the steak preparation is that there was quite a bit of medium well meat near the outside edges of the steak. Next time I think I'll order the prime sirloin. We had the Chocolate Hazelnut cake for dessert. This was adequate for two people, but if you're used to steakhouse dessert portions this will be smaller. The cake was moist and flavorful, and the hazelnut filling was tasty without being too sweet. Our server was friendly and was able to answer our questions about the menu. The only minor service issue was that twice we had food delivered to the table but didn't have forks to eat it with. Otherwise the service was well executed, and I felt we got the right amount of attention without being bugged too often by the server. A person that I took for a supervisor or manager stopped at the table to check on our meal after the entre was delivered. This is a really good restaurant, and I'm looking forward to returning to it soon.

I could not wait to sit down and write this review for what now is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis! Highlights were the lamb, the brussel sprouts salad, the lobster spaetzle "sprechen sie YES!" and the dungeness crab with sea beans. Great non generic wines as well. I can't wait to try the ribeye and some more of the fish entrees. Gorgeous space, it is super loud but I love the open kitchen and the windows.

I would give 5 stars, but the noise level took one away. Other than that, the food was amazing. We started with a soft shell crab that was a nightly special and it had a chili sauce with cilantro and lime. Super delicious and cut into 4 portions so we didn't have to try to cut it at the table (nice touch!) We ordered the sea beans and dungeness crab appetizer and we all loved it. It was just a bit too salty, but sea beans are rather salty on their own being from the sea and all... Steaks, what can I say about the steaks? They were simply amazing. Cooked perfectly. Seasoned perfectly. Three of us ordered steaks and they all came out exactly as we ordered them. They are kind of plain looking on the plate (just steak on a white plate), but as it turns out, the steak speaks for itself. Add a few sides (we ordered the carrots and the mushrooms) and all of a sudden the meal is complete. I would go back for sure next time I am in the area!

I've been here 20 times now and the steak has been consistently delicious, albeit on the pricey side. A dinner for two can climb into the triple digits with a quickness. The best so far was a Bone-In Ribeye for two, which comes pre-sliced with mushrooms, a house-made A1esk sauce that is a little on the sweet side and béarnaise. They use a flake salt that puts kosher salt to shame and the wine selection is excellent, which makes my wife happy. It's close enough to walk to from anywhere in the Lowry Hill area, which is a good thing because Valet is 9 dollars plus tip when it should probably be free. I haven't tried the pizza bar yet but I doubt I will so I can neither confirm nor deny the reports that it feels like a second class experience, although I'm guessing that the fact that its literally under you supports them. I have to say that I'm really happy that the neighborhood has had two great new restaurants pop in such a short time. It was a huge culture shock to move here from the bay area and fine dining definitely helps to ease that blow. If only Alice Waters would open a Chez Panisse in Minneapolis...but until then Burch is probably the heavy weight champ.

I am not sure I would recommend trying this Restaurant. We went there the first time last night and admittedly our expectations were high. The atmosphere is fun to watch but extremely annoying because it was so loud and we could barely see the menu. My husband had the New York strip steak and it was prepared correctly and very good; I had the flank steak based on the high recommendation of our server.. it was terrible. I had to send it back because it was very rare and even when they brought it back it was still not prepa red correctly. it was still very rare and my plate was soaked with blood protein. The roasted carrots were roasted a bit much, meaning charcoal and crunchy ; the broccoli risotto was good but great; the dumplings were very nice but after leaving the restaurant and dropping over $130 ( yes we had an excellent bottle of wine for $50) I had to think how ridiculous it was that I just wasted so much money. I will give it one more try for the other foods besides the meat selection but I prefer the other two restaurants by the same chef; this one just didn't work for me. I also resented the fact that I had to leave a large tip for a server who clearly was not interested in our table.

Burch blew us away. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it actually. We sat in the Pizza area, downstairs, because my partner is a vegetarian. The ambiance made it feel like we were in a cave, way cool. We loved the brightness of the tiles behind the line and the jagged concrete walls which surrounded the dining area. I had the bone marrow...and oh.my .god. It was exceptional. Probably the best thing I've ever eaten. The mint partnered with the salty goodness of the marrow which created the perfect marriage. My partner had the broccolini which had a turmeric seasoning. She could not get enough of it. So much delicious flavor. We shared a pizza. The crust so was thin and crispy with fresh ingredients. The sauce was killer. You could taste the fresh tomatoes as if they were still on the vine. I'm not sure what they did to it but it is working. The manager on duty was exceptional and sweet. She came over to see how dinner was going, we couldn't help but gush about how amazing everything was almost to the point of embarrassment. My partner asked of her opinion on a couple of wines. She was incredibly knowledgeable on both wines, giving us basic key points of each one. She gave her opinion on which one was her fave, which I always appreciate, as well as offered a tasting of the other wine, too. Super cool. Service was great. We were always able to find our server and he didn't stop by too much if you know what I mean. We decided that Burch was our new favorite restaurant. We haven't had an experience like this in a long time. We can't wait to go back!

Have you ever had a beautiful dinner? We did last night. There are a lot of staff, so there's always someone around. We were overdue for a steak dinner. The service from Chris was spectacular. I asked if they had a lemonade type non alcoholic beverage. He had them make one up special for me, with lime added. The bread is great, and they are generous with the butter. We shared bibb lettuce with ranch. They aren't skimpy with the salad dressing which is a food trend I loathe. It's very unusual for us to get the same thing especially at a new place, but the Niman ribeye just sounded too awesome. Not only do you get to choose your steak, you get to choose your beef. How crazy is that? It was as perfect as it gets. With all the extras an 8oz. was just right. We shared a pomme puree. It was really good, but lukewarm, and they comped us for it, without asking. Scott, one of the managers came around, and was happy I spoke up. Someone was always filling your water glass, almost annoyingly so. I like it at least 3/4 of the way down before having to deal with a water pitcher. I got a heavenly earl gray creme brulee. When I walked in at 5 I told them we wanted the second floor for the steak. They replied you are on the second floor. We were able to add the valet parking to our bill because we were cash poor, no problem. If you sit in the room facing the corner, every seat has a view. If you want a laugh, watch the valet parking going on, and the traffic tie up. If you don't arrive at 5 reservations are a must. It was full when we left.

The service was great, very knowledgeable. I am a fan of the beers they had on tap, however the list was surprisingly not that extensive. We had a couple of steaks that were great, however it was the small plates we had that were the highlight. The lamb stroganoff dumplings we had were excellent, as was the chocolate braised rabbit bridie. However, I will be returning to Burch Steak simply for the Blue Marlin Crudo; this sashimi-esque dish was simple and mild yet incredibly refreshing. Highly recommended for anyone that enjoys raw plates.

Burch was great!! We were back in town for an anniversary dinner. The staff and service were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic -- oysters, salads, steaks, fish, coffee, dessert. All were great. I wish we lived closer as this place is a gem.

Went to Burch recently and had really high expectations based on the other restaurants by chef Isaac Becker (Bar La Grassa and 112 Eatery). We really enjoyed it but it wasn't our favorite place in Minneapolis. Especially for how expensive it was. If we go back soon it will be to try the pizza as we didn't get a chance to on our first visit. Listen to the other reviews about the dumplings (they are very good) and avoid the monk fish unless you love tartar sauce.

Had a great dinner here and was pleasantly surprised when the bill came around. We're in town for business and I wanted to get outside of downtown Minneapolis since that's where I was all day for work. I don't like going to chains I can have anywhere when I'm in a new city and found Burch on a list of recommended restaurants online. Initially I was confused b/c the address on Yelp was different than the address listed on their site, once I got there it all made sense: it's on a corner and there are two entrances, one on each street. We decided to eat downstairs b/c you can order off of both menus there, plus it was a little more casual. Kicked it off w/ a Summerfest brew from a local brewery and ended up ordering two over the course of the meal What we got: - spicy soft shell crab, was half of a crab, so really only good for one person or two to share, not really spicy and the yogurt sauce was nice - shupfnudel dumplings w/ walnut & gorganzola, it was like long penne shaped gnocchi in a great gorganzola sauce, perfect for sharing - roasted bone marrow, the bones were HUGE and I got a lot more out of it than usual, perfectly roasted to have that crispy top and stayed hot and jelly-like, served w/ delicious roasted bread and mint/parsley sprinkled on top - roasted cauliflower, anchovy & burrata, this was really good, perfectly cooked and seasoned - Arogosta pizza, this was the lobster & mint pizza, the lobster was real chunks and delicious but I doubt I'd order it again, I wish I'd gotten the steak instead - brown sugar steam cake, great summertime dessert w/ fruit and fresh whipped cream - sweet treats, little bites for $0.25 each, it changes each night and it was macaroons and salted dark chocolates, we got 4 :) Everyone was really nice and how can you not love a place that has a picture of EazyE on their wall? Oh, and better yet, the bill w/ the food above, 2 beers and a mojito was just over $85 for two, definitely less than what I expected.

Sat March 2, 2013 It was D's Bday yesterday and thank Vishnu she axed me at 6pm if we were "...going to Burch tonight....?", Um, NO, we were going to the same old same old Al Vento (interior monologue), then I made an excuse about needing coffee immediately, asked Siri to find Birch, she was useless as usual, then I found Burch - just opened, big buzz - reservations Sat night in 2 hours? Oh yeah, we don't live in Boston anymore and were seated at 8:55: I heart MSP! Valet parking: check. But wait, it's Minnesnowta and here's street parking right in front. First impressions: elegant, modern and energized, Burch looks legit. We were greeted right away and whisked to our table in dining room deux which I think was the better room. Seating is comfortable and spacious and you won't be spilling into your neighbor's space a lá mode de Travail, Tilia, et cetera. The few posted yelps all reported that the service was excellent and I can confirm that it was truly a pleasure: professional, friendly, competent, personable, earnest, helpful- I am serious, of all the new places I've visited during the past year this joint was overall first class and by that I mean world class (Allison was our gal). Get to the food, Dude: One to the early Yelpers reported that the word Steak should have been omitted from the name. After seeing "grass fed" throughout the menu, I too had doubts, but more on that L8R. B-day girl ordered the starters which I would classify as "weird", meaning not Caesar salad, NE clam chowder and shrimp cocktail. Good thing I'm not in charge because the kale, rapinii risotto and frisée were dee-luscious. Main course: We decided the Niman Prime ribeye was the One True path for us: 16oz to share MR. I have to say that when it arrived, the first thought that came to mind was that it resembled one of those sad sirloins from an IHOP-Denny's steak 'n eggs: rather under-nourished compared to the monster cutz from the usual suspects (Manny's, Morton's Et al.). Well looks did deceive because this rib-eye was str8 up exquisite and one of the best I've had in recent memory with the exception of the B & the Boar: expertly grilled, exceptional flavor (step off Wagu)- I loved it and so did the Mrs. Plus the 16oz was plenty to share if your plan is to enjoy 4 courses - you will not depart dissatisfied. Mud pie & tiramisu for D-sert? Oh, sorry, that was when INXS was blaring from everyone's in-dash cassette player. Why not be here now and try the Earl Grey brûlée? That instantly became my current favorite and I was fully prepared to not love it. So head to Burch Steak, and if my experience was the rule, you'll want to add it to your Twin Cities restaurant rotation. Several discerning bros have reported that Burch Pizza on the lower level is also unreal so maybe check it out - I will soon. PS: I did not comment on price b/c I lived in Boston until last year so compared to the east coast, menu prices here seem to be about half of what they are in the south end. Check out the menu on-line and decide for yourself but all in I think this was well worth it and you won't wonder "what just happened?" and eye T-Bell's drive-through window on your way home...

The MOST approachable and affordable wine list I have seen around here in a long time!! We had the lamb tartarre and charred brussel sprout salad upstairs and then ventured downstairs for the speck pizza. LOVED all of it. The service was fantastic!! I am so very excited for this place!!

Went here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday last night. Just chiming in on what others have already said: - ask to be seated away from the windows as there are too many drivers looking in. - the place is extremely loud, so be prepared to shout We had the oysters, bone marrow dumplings, pommes puree, cauliflower, and the natural ribeye for two. The oysters were fresh and I appreciated the homemade sauces. The dumplings were fine but probably not worth the price (and not something I'd go to a nice restaurant to order again). The pommes puree and cauliflower sides were fantastic although a bit heavy handed on the salt. And of course, the piece de resistance, the steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and was more than enough for my boyfriend (who can eat) and myself to share. I really enjoyed both of the sauces that came with it, as well as the pickled mushrooms (really nice contrast to the savory steak). Definitely great steak. - Minus half a star for the fact that the bread basket was not impressive at all. The pretzel roll was stale, and the other slices were room temperature. Also that both of our sides were pretty salty. - Minus 1.5 stars because I had made the reservation stating that it was a surprise birthday dinner. The hostess called me back and confirmed that she would note the special occasion. I wasn't expecting a cake or anything, but I expected something, anything. Our waitress was horribly slow and hardly attentive. For example, we were finished eating at 9:10pm (I remember this because I checked my phone to see what movies we could catch), and we didn't actually leave until 9:50pm. We were stuffed from dinner but opted to get a few of the 25 cent chocolates anyway. It wasn't until after we had our chocolates and were ready to pay that the waitress finally brings out a plate with a candle and ONE of the 25 cent chocolates on the house (which we already had). It obviously was an afterthought and did not feel special at all. I usually rate my yelp scores based solely on the food, but the poor service really affected our experience in such a negative way. I hope Burch will do a better job of screening their wait staff...

A great follow up to 112 eatery. Food was terrific. Our server was right in recommending the Kale. My only gripe would be that we sat by the window and you feel a bit like you are in a fish bowl with every car on Hennepin stopping and looking at you. I suggest they frost the window about half way up to keep the light but give the dinners a greater sense of privacy. Other than that, thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to trying the downstairs pizza bar.

Great service and beautiful space. The cauliflower was a master stroke. The Bibb lettuce salad was passable. The potato chips were unremarkable, and can't compete with Salut's fries or even smash burgers. The steak was cooked acceptably. Very loud environment, although spacious and clean.

Was disappointed... I think the hype doesn't match the actual experience. The food was good, but for the price, I can think of many other steak restaurants I'd rather patronize in the Twin Cities. It was hard to carry on a conversation because of the noise and bad acoustics. I sort of felt like the waiter (and some in the crowd) were just trying too hard to be "hip, now, and wow". It wasn't comfortable and we won't be going back.

Saturday Date Night with my wife. Called Burch in the afternoon and no reservations available downstairs. We wanted downstairs as both upstairs and downstairs menus are available (upstairs menu only available upstairs). But the very attentive hostess said they had seats at the bar and always kept a few table for walk ins. Yea, right, I thought to myself. The wife said let's try and off we went. Walked in around 730pm to a very busy restaurant (upstairs & downstairs). Lo and behold, a couple of tables were open. A welcome blow to my well endowed skepticism. Anyway, we ordered three appetizers; asparagus and soft boiled egg, lamb meatballs and bib lettuce salad (from the upstairs kitchen). We shared the Fugazza pizza (mozzarella, shaved onions, oregano, arugula). Service: Outstanding. Very alert and attentive without being obsessive. Food: Outstanding. This is no cookie cutter kitchen. Our appetizers were simply delicious. Nothing excessive, nothing dripping and nothing left on the plate. Each ingredient and spice served a purpose. Atmosphere: If there's one chink in the armor it's the noise level and the furnishings/surroundings downstairs. (the noise level upstairs is also a major issue but the surroundings are far more appealing.) It's not just loud. It's shouting-to-be-heard-at-a-heavy-metal-performance-loud. It actually crossed my mind the the noise level might leave the place vulnerable to an OSHA violation. Furthermore, the downstairs restaurant area is on the extreme minimalist side -- dark, clunky, and, my wife adds, not somewhere you go for ambiance. We skipped dessert as lingering wasn't appealing. Table and chairs were comfortable. And the bar itself looked very attractive but entirely lost and virtually unnoticeable in those surrounding. The clientele this Saturday night was diverse; families, a couple tables of older folks, couples and singles. Value: three appetizers, one pizza entree and one glass of wine -- $41+tip. It wasn't the huge portions we Americans love to overeat (I'm talking about me!) but it was the right amount and we certainly didn't leave hungry. I dare say it was a cheap date! Yes, the food and service are so good that we'd go again. But it's a pity that the noise and surroundings detract prominently from the experience.

We sat in the basement pizza bar in a booth. Ordered sea beans with dungeoness crab, the triple cooked chips, and the dumplings with lamb gravy. They had Bell's Two-Hearted on tap, that was a no brainer. Chips were the best we have ever had, and believe me, that means a lot. The appetizer lamb dumpling dish was delectable. The sea beans and crab was phenomenal. We then ordered the coppa cotta pizza. I am a pizza nut and this is my tops pie so far. Subtle flavors mingle expertly on the palate, I did not want it to end. This is real pizza, from an essentially super-hot oven, with top tier elements employed. The best....yet.

Delicious. Love the natural and locally sourced ingredients. The endive apple salad with yogurt vinaigrette is a must have! As is the hazelnut chocolate cake. Steaks are served with house made Bearnaise and steak sauce (fancy A1) and wild mushrooms, very nice touch. The interior is a mix of wood, stone and part of the natural flooring is left in tact. If you are noise sensitive, I found the left side (the one with the open kitchen) to be softer and better for groups to converse. Parking is the only bummer, there's valet otherwise you'll have to hunt for a spot in the residential area.

This is a cool place. Upstairs is loud and bustling, with windows wrapped around the dinning area and bar. The food is very good. Our service was great. Three different "levels" of steaks based on how the cow was fed. (Grass vs Corn). Although I didn't go, there's a Pizza Bar downstairs. Sebastian Joes is right across too.

We had a dinner for 18 planned for out of town guests arriving for our wedding. The staff was easy to work with and accommodated us with a great family style table along the window on Hennepin. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Everything was excellent! Everyone commented on how the meal from appetizers, sides, entrees and desserts was great from start to finish. The servers were very attentive and the management was right there making sure everything was to our liking. The one downside is it's a little on the loud side. I personally don't mind it, some might. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a group outing that will go off without a hitch.

We went to Burch on Friday night after Tilia's great endorsement. We didn't have a reservation but were able to sit at a communal table in the bar area and had drinks and an appetizer while we waited about 45 for our table for dinner. We loved the decor; large windows, wood beams and old brick. The energy at the restaurant was high. The servers were experienced and very helpful. We had the grilled cauliflower, beet salad , pickled tomatoes and a hanger steak. Everything was amazing.

The steaks were the best I have had in the Twin Cities. The dumplings in bone marrow broth were sublime and a completely unexpected find. Our server was knowledgeable and there when we needed anything. The decor was a modern, organic delight.

Went to Burch Steak and Pizza Bar for the first time and will definitely go back. The hangar steak came in 3 different choices - based on how much marbling one wants in a steak. I chose the one with the least fat, which was surprising as it was melt in your mouth yummy. The sauteed kale had a subtle, smoky taste. The mushrooms were a bit over the top - too much butter and salt. A little went a long way and we had most of it boxed up to take home. The flourless chocolate torte was delicious, as was the decaf. Am definitely a fan.

My wife, two kids and I went to Yelp for our anniversary. We are 'downstairs' in the main restaurant, not the pizza bar. Service was great. The entrees were all good but it's the appetizers and side dishes that I will go back for. We especially liked the roasted cauliflower.

Celebrated my birthday here with my wife and daughter. The food was great. The service was perfect. The decor is fun. They could have done better with the raw concrete floor. It looks like it is not quite done. The prices make this a special occasion and not a regular neighborhood joint. There is no parking. You have to spend $8 and wait a long time for your car. We are looking forward to trying the pizza.

Food was great. Amazing 6 oz. NY strip! The side dishes are okay; nothing stood out. Mushrooms were plain. Cauliflower was too salty. Kale...yuk. We kindly ordered the kale at the suggestion of our server. We tried the cheese dumplings. After my husband pointed out that the cheese dumpling dish tasted like a Big Mac...I put my fork down. He was right! It felt and tasted so wrong. It was a pretty good laugh though! Awesome service, minus the other server who dropped a tray of plates on the floor. Also, this place is very loud and crowded. Don't go here if you are expecting a nice intimate dinner. My husband and I were practically yelling across the table...on a Sunday.

I have to say I have a very big problem when the sauce - listed as Parmesan - for the grilled salmon, is heavy with veal stock. How do you not mention that on the dish's description of ingredients? Of all foods, veal is something that many people have a problem with on an ethical/moral level and i would appreciate knowing about it before I ordered. The gazpacho was really good as were the wines.

They take reservations and walk-ins: great! Cocktails: great except he didn't give me the stuffed olives. Dumplings: great! Ahi Tuna: boring Steaks: inconsistently cooked, mushy meat Monkfish: small and somewhat bland, loved the spinach bed Server: arrogant, snide, not helpful. Ambiance: appealing and lively except for the view of rushing cars outside We are likely to try it again; seems like a good concept.

Been here a few times and I think it's just better than OK. I was actually very excited for this place to open. The first time I went I had a bunch of small plates and this was my best experience. The dumplings are some of the best things I've ever tasted in MN. There's an assortment of them and I recommend trying them all. If you just stop in for a drink and order 2 or 3 dumplings you will give this place 4 to 5 stars. On to the steaks. First of all I'm not a big fan of steak houses. Steak is something I am quit capable of doing at home. One of the keys to a great steak is a great cut of meat, and this place has better cuts if not the best in MN steakhouses. The second key is a great sear on the steak. And here is where this place fails. Most steakhouses have extremely high temperature broilers and this place cooked their steak over a grill top. Just like cooking over a grill at home. When my ribeye came out it was much cooler than I would like and it tasted just like something I would make at home. The sauces that came with it almost ruined the steak for me. I may be nit-picking over how the steak is cooked, but one thing I do enjoy about steak houses like Manny's and Murray's is that their steak is cooked in a broiler. Anyone who is saying that this place has the best steak they've ever had needs to get out more.

When my husband and I realized it was Isaac Becker's new spot, we had to go immediately. Had a sampling of several dumplings--pierogi, schupfnudel, fried semolina--all were fantastic. Pommes puree and Sauteed Kale for sides. Both good. Also had the triple cooked chips (thick cut fries, essentially). This was the only thing we had that we didn't finish. Perhaps it was a bad batch. For entrees we shared the foie boudin blanc, salmon, pork shoulder and natural beef ribeye, medium rare. They were all great, but the beef really stood out. yumyumyum. We'll definitely be back to see if the pizza menu is as good as the steak menu! Oh and we had 2 other people with us, we're not THAT piggy. :D

Oh yum. The pizza downstairs is fantastic. The service was excellent as well. My pizza seemed a little undercooked, but that may just be a matter of personal preference. The flavor and quality was spot on. Will definitely be back to try more.

Just to get it out of the way - the veal breast in aspic starter, I found personally challenging. Essentially, it's cold veal fat in meat jelly. Sweetbreads, monkfish liver, boudin noir, etc. - I'm down with all of it. This dish though stretched my palate to its limit.... Everything else was close to perfect. The Niman Ranch prime ribeye was the best steak I've had in a long time and the sides of cauliflower with anchovy, kale and true french mashed potatoes (more of an aligot) were insanely good. Atmosphere is beautiful and upbeat. There just isn't anything to not like about Burch and what a great use of that space. I doubt anyone else in Minnesota could have turned that building into a success except this team. Really well done.

One of the best meals I've had in Minneapolis. Usually the words "steak" and "house" make me nervous when they appear together. But the menu at Burch is much more adventurous than your prototypical steak joint, and its look comes closer to that of an old fashioned Parisian brasserie. The service is knowledgable, prompt, and professional. I had the sneaking suspicion our waitress was a vegetarian, yet she knew about each cut of meat and where it came from on the cow. The flat iron steak was cooked to perfection, one of the best I've ever had. The dumplings were also great, though I'd go easy there if you plan to enjoy a dessert. One of the top points to this restaurant's credit is its fabulous dessert table, staffed by a nice lady who will patiently and enthusiastically tell you about every one. My dream! Like every damn restaurant in the states they can't get the names and accents on French desserts right, but the Baba au rhum was nice - even if they called it a Baba Rhum... (See also, the oddly accented "Crème brulee." Google exists! Use it before printing out the menus, folks! Do justice to your immaculate desserts!*) I vacillated between a 4 and a 5 here because the prices verge toward the outrageous. Nevertheless, the pizzas and burger are very well priced. Plus, it's more of a special occasion place. Did I mention the cocktails were spectacular too?? Try the spicy gimlet. Oh, how I want to go back! *One qualm. The whipped cream on the babu au rhum should be lighter, more billowy. But the cake part? A plus.

Solid. It's not the most amazing steak - but it's good. The prices are a bit steep, but that's to be expected. It's not my favorite steakhouse in the area, but I'd definitely go back.

I had not been out to a nice dinner for a long time so I was really enjoying the experience. My friend had the New York Strip, small but excellent. I had the special which was Ahi tuna, it was fantastic. The Sauvignon-blanc I ordered was so good I am on the hunt to find out where I can buy it. It was about $15 a glass....memorable. Enjoyed every sip! The service was good. However, in the beginning I had the feeling my main server was having a bad night but as dinner progressed she became more personable. I asked a different server that delivered one of our courses for another glass of wine and she replied "that's not really my job". While it might not have been her job, I think she could have expressed it in a more professional manner. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with the food and wine. The service was acceptable.

I've been to Burch Steak once before about a year ago and had a perfectly enjoyable dinner, but I had not been back until tonight. My boyfriend and I were in the mood for pizza, so we decided to go try out the basement at Burch. The last time we were there, we went the steak and dumpling route, but tonight we sat downstairs at the pizza bar for salad and pizza. it is nice that you can order anything from the steak menu downstairs (and the pizza menu upstairs), because if that would not have been the case, I wouldn't have tried the sea bean and crab salad. Our server (who was attentive, descriptive, and friendly) recommended this salad when I asked for a suggestion of a lighter salad. The sea beans were similar to skinny green beans, and the dungeoness crab was plentiful. The dish was topped with crispy garlic. The flavors were AMAZING!! I highly recommend this dish and will be getting it every time I go back to Burch. As my boyfriend isn't always super adventurous, we kept it simple with a margherita pizza and added BLG italian sausage. The edges of the crust were airy and crispy, and the sauce was sweet and delicious. I paired my meal with a light cucumber vodka press. Prices were reasonable and exceptional in some cases (I got a $0.25 chai truffle - sweet treat of the night- for dessert). I'll be back.

Everything - from the service, to the ambiance, to the location - is incredible. But best of all is the food. The lobster entree is realistically one of the best plates of food I've ever been served in my life. My wife and I are both vegetarians (plus fish) and we were extremely happy with how many options were available for us at a supposed "steak" house. Definitely lived up to the hype of following 112 and Bar La Grassa.

I'd go back but will try the Steak menu instead. We went for pizza in the basement and while it was good, you can get something very similar at Punch Pizza at a much cheaper price. We ordered a margarita and a lobster/artichoke pizza. There were small pieces of lobster. Not enough to justify the cost for the Neapolitan, wood fired style pizza. $8 for valet parking to consider as well.

In a word...phenomenal! The service, the ambiance, the FOOD! Downsides included the prices - BUT you get what you pay for! - which make this a special occasion sort of place; and the noise level - we ate in the basement and it was a strain to hear the conversation between the three of us. But the food...the glorious food...the delectable "want to eat it" (and gain 50 pounds) food! I believe the menu downstairs is essentially the same as upstairs, but includes Pizza. There was a separate menu for it on the table as well as the full menu. The Pierogi's (under the Dumping menu) were mouth-wateringly delicious, and I guess it doesn't matter if you eat one or ten (which you couldn't) because you're going to get FAT if you do. But happy...and that's the important part. We shared a Panzanella Salad (I think that's what it was!) - I and a dining companion each had a "Manhattan" steak that was simply superb - Carrots with thyme and chevre too. Husband had a Margherita pizza to which he added prosciutto. Beautiful thin crispy crust and they did not skimp on the prosciutto. He had an Endive, Blue Cheese, and Bacon salad. We were all blown away by the food. Truly. Maybe the BEST meal of 2015, and it's only January so we've screwed ourselves already. Husband had a soda (designated driver) but friend and I had a Manhattan - old fashioned, delicious, and sipped on it all night. I think our tab was about $170 but honestly, it was so good it didn't matter. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, I'd go back. Not often - but definitely going back!

This is a great place to have a fancy meal! The location doesn't have a lot of street parking available, but they do have a valet parking service. It's pretty convenient. The atmosphere is a bit fancier, so i did feel a bit out of place in my t-shirt and shorts. Business casual would be an appropriate minimum attire. There were plenty of people dressed up super fancy that night. There are two levels for dining. We were seated in the basement, aka "The Cave". It was a really nice space. The brick walls and lighting made it a pretty comfortable environment. We began our meal with several appetizers. First was the Beef Tartare, my friend loved it, I hated it. Not a fan of raw beef here... But the Salmon Tartare was great, the olives paired well with the salmon. We also had the Mussels with BLG sausage. They were delicious, and the toasted bread slices absorbed the sauce amazingly. None of our party of four ordered steak, so I can't comment on that, but they looked delicious based on what the people around us ordered. We decided to go for the wood roasted pizza's and a selection of dumplings. I personally enjoyed the pizza's for the extra flavor that firewood adds. All the dumplings were tasty as well. My favorite was the fried semolina. Overall, a very nice place. I'll have to go back and try out their steak!

Burch was an excellent pick for my boyfriend's birthday dinner because they combined his two favorite foods - pizza and steak. I had heard great reviews on the steak menu, but I was really blown away by the variety of their dishes and top notch flavors. We were seated upstairs in the main dining room which was has a great industrial design and a lot of warm lighting. My only complaint is that the acoustics weren't great making the room seriously loud to have a conversation. To start, we ended up ordering a few dishes to share including the Ahi Tuna, Pork Dumpling, and Wood Roasted Mussels. I found it a little confusing to order off both the pizza menu and the steak menu, but our waiter was really patient and explained everything to us. My favorite starter was the Ahi Tuna which was so bright and fresh, and served with the perfect complement of crusted bread. They also had Marlin Crudo on the menu but I wasn't adventurous enough to try it on this trip. My boyfriend ordered the Prime Beef Sirloin and we were both seriously impressed with the quality of the meat and the preparation in cooking. It was served with several dipping sauces and sauteed mushrooms which were delicious, but not even necessary on such a great steak. Everything was just so mouth-watering and beautifully plated. To top it all off, our server was kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert for the birthday celebration. We left happy and full and already talking about our next visit. Well done Burch!

This place is awesome. The location they are in is trendy, their downstairs seating feels like an underground cave restaurant, I liked it. Their dumplings are AMAZING! And their pizzas are very good. Highly recommend when in Minneapolis. They have these cute little dessert items that are only 25 cents. Super delicious!

I'm subtracting a star only for the fact that Burch is has a very expensive menu & their host stand could use some additional training. Everything there is on point: from the wait staff to the flavor profiles of the food to the ambiance to the construct of the menu. I believe there is a parking lot behind the restaurant available after 5pm - otherwise plan on a little extra time to find street parking in this busy area. I would highly recommend the carrot cake for dessert - just the right combination of moistness, creamy icing & sweetness.

I am torn about the review for tonight's visit. Our son wanted steak for his 19th birthday, he's been to Manny's a few times with his father and is a true carnivore. We wanted to try someplace new to us so my husband made reservations at Burch, making a note that it was our son's birthday, but the only recognition was a query from the hostess stand. We were seated immediately, our drink order was taken and served promptly. However, we needed some extra time with our menus as first-time customers and we're not ready to order when she stopped to get our order. After that, she didn't return to our table until we were halfway through the bread plate. I ordered the 6 oz. New York strip, med. rare, my husband and son had the larger portion Hanger steaks, also medium rare. We ordered the Pommes purée and the grilled mushrooms to share. My husband and I each ordered a glass of wine to go with our steaks. Our food came surprisingly fast, but our wine did not come at the same time, and our waitress had disappeared again. We finally asked one of the water servers about our missing wine, and he said he would find her. She made an excuse that they were supposed to come out with the food, but someone missed them. It was mildly irritating. However, looking at our bill when we got home we noticed that she did not charge us for the delayed glasses of wine. The steaks were done well, the sauces were amazing. I could've happily eaten the side of Mushrooms all on my own. However, calling the Pommes purée poutine is a joke; Poutine is made with cheese curds and gravy, what we had was mashed potatoes and gravy, nothing more. They were delicious mashed potatoes and gravy, but a Canadian would laugh wholeheartedly at this dish being called poutine. We expected a little recognition of our sons birthday, but none was offered. I am not sure if that is the restaurant or the server. She was not unpleasant, we just felt that she was inattentive. I am glad we experienced this restaurant, but I believe our son would choose Manny's next time.

This restaurant has ambiance, great service, an extensive wine list, and impressive food. We ordered two different dumplings (the pierogie was our favorite), the waygau sirloin and homemade sauerkraut and carrots for sides. Our waitress explained all the beef choices, voluntarily. She was so knowledgable about the menu. The carrots were candied and had thyme and chèvre on it - my favorite. All of this was $72 pre tax - the food and experience felt like it was at least $200. We will be back!

Yummy, yummy, yummy, is how I would describe their scrumptious dishes, treats, and drinks! Thumbs up: -Fun location, central -Good unique food, has a blue cheese theme to many dishes. Try the soft shell crab, salads, and steaks if you want some meat. The bone marrow is very filling. -Decent service -You get what you pay for -Fun open atmosphere -Cute small treats that are tasty for dessert, a must try. Thumbs down: -It can be loud due to logistics and warehouse like atmosphere -Service was great the first time I was there, OK the 2nd, and good the 3rd time, sooooo a little inconsistent as far as the attentiveness, knowledge, and friendliness goes. It doesn't rock my world Too badly it's still good food and ambience. -Parking can be tricky, I suggest valet Pizza and steak!

I would have to say this was one of the best steakhouses in the Twin Cities if not that the best. My steak was perfectly cooked with an amazing char on both sides and super juicy. I highly recommend this place over Manny's and Murrys steakhouse.

Our absolute favorite place in the Twin Cities! Hands down the best service - knowledgable, quick, and friendly. The cocktails are strong and delicious, good selection of wine and beers too. The food - ahhhhhmazzing! Quality ingredients, unique, perfect portions, always changing and overall perfection. We have tried almost every steak on the menu and our favorite is the Prime Flat Iron - one of the cheaper options too. Absolutely tender and flavorful. Mouth is watering thinking about this place. A must try!

The food here was simply elegant and delicious. We were very happy with all the appetizers we ordered. The steak I would say was probably the best I had in the Twin Cities, other than the infamous Manny Steakhouse, which I have not had the privilege to visit. The atmosphere was romantic and our server was attentive and polite. The chef in the kitchen was kind enough to give us some complimentary cookies when we asked about ordering them separately from the dessert that it came with. There were five of us so we had a great sample of desserts. We must have ordered everything on the menu. We liked them all, except I was not generally a fan of chocolate mousse cake. I like a rich, dark and dense chocolate cake, but you can leave the mousse at home. I was also not thrilled with the coffee-cup that the Earl Grey crème brulee was served in instead of the usual ramekin. It was sort of an unusual choice of presentation by the pastry chef. The taste was unique, but somehow it tasted too flowery for my liking. I think I will stick with a traditional crème brulee. Anyhow, what a gem in the neighborhood. I will be back again and again.

This place does it all has become my solid go-to place for dressing up a bit to impress out of towners and dressing down casually celebrating family events. It is a shining reminder of how lucky I am to live in a town of this size that has a great restaurant scene. Unlike the other big name steak joints in town (which are all excellent too) that are known for being old-school, clubby, massive portion expense account red meat and red wine places, Burch goes in many different directions. Its got a decent creative cocktail program, a respectable wine list that brings it home at every price point (bottle range of $23-425), cuts of meat that you love but can't find (Hanger, Flatiron, Zabuton, as well as the traditional cuts) and varieties to match (Grass fed, Prime, Domestic and Japanese A5 Wagyu). Sheer genius though is the concept to offer the steaks in 2 sizes so you can try smaller portions and share them around or save some room for some of the other great offerings. Even better is the fact that this place has so much more than great steaks. The basement pizza kitchen has a separate menu and is a casual environment where they will also serve the upstairs finer menu if you want. Two of my absolute favorite items on the menu are the bone marrow app (I think it is the best of this offering in the city with Libertine a very close 2nd) and the butter/parmesan pizza from the basement pizza kitchen...an absolute steal for $5. The house made dumplings are killer and I just had a soup du jour of spicy clam chowder that was almost a meal in itself. Where other steak restaurants have crushed velvet banquettes, this place is midwest modern with lots of exposed brick, cement and large upstairs windows. Service is friendly, more laid back than other steakhouses, there are no tuxedos here and they do not adhere to the male dominant steak serving mantra (thank God!) This place really has something for everyone and they pull it off really, really well. If you can't find something to love about the concept, the variety, the quality and the food, you might actually be expired.

Yes all around. There isn't much else to add. I was a little weary because I think a lot of people give places like Burch, BLG and 112 5 star reviews just because everyone else does, but they are 100% right when it comes to Burch. You can sift through the reviews and find people that say it's too loud or the service was too slow but in my humble opinion the food outweighs ALL of that. Every single bite of our meal was near perfection. What we had: Margherita Pizza Schupfnudel, walnut, gorgonzola dumplings Prime Beef Hanger Steak Prime Beef Sirloin Carrots My boyfriend was legit dancing while eating the dumplings and the sirloin. Highly recommend Burch if you're looking for a great date spot or fun night out.

The crab and sea bean salad is amazing! I've never had a sea bean before and I will definitely eat this again! The salad is cold, I don't know why I was expecting it to be hot, but I was. I was not disappointed in the least though. I highly recommend eating this! And for those of you who haven't had a sea bean... they are like mini asparagus but without the adverse effects, if you know what I mean :) I also had the scallops and they were really good too! They were cooked perfectly, which isn't exactly easy. They are usually undercooked and goopy... or overcooked and dry... they fall apart easily if they are overcooked or they can get a bit rubbery. I also like that they weren't super salty. I don't like when scallops are gritty. I don't know why that happens but if you've had mediocre scallops before, you know exactly what I mean. We also came here before a holiday show and our service was so fast! We had plenty of time. I also made reservations online and they send an email confirmation when I made them as well as calling me earlier in the day to confirm them. Excellent service. I don't know that the food really even mattered. It really was they way we were treated that makes this place stand out against the 100's of restaurants in the area.

We have friends that have raved about burch for the past few years. We finally made it here and we're not disappointed!! Started with a Burch Punch. Super delicious. Had one of their cheese dumplings, simply amazing. Service was wonderful! Professional and kind. I love my chicken dish that was wrapped in thin strips of bacon. My husband got a hanger steak and it was cooked perfectly. So glad we were able to eat here with our best of friends! Looking forward to our next trip here. Must try!! I can't believe it's here in Minnesota! delicious!

Great decor, excellent ambiance and service was very courteous and attentive. A lot of the menu items sound delicious and promising, but perhaps they are just overly ambitious because most actually didn't deliver. Every item that our table ordered was too salty, and our table likes salt more than your average customer. The gnocchi like dumpling was very good, but the Veal and Krewetka dumplings were too salty, as was the Brussel sprout salad - not sure I like the combination of the Brussels and the cheese used either. The escargot was delicious and the steak was cooked very well. I am just really disappointed in the execution on what seemed like a really promising menu of apps.

Came here on a work dinner and everyone had a great time and thought food was excellent. Ordered the oysters as an appetizer and they were delicious. Almost all of us ordered the prime Filet but they offer all steaks in prime or grass-fed. One of the best steaks I've had, perfectly cooked to medium rare. Also, order the dumplings for a side (maybe get 2) they are the best. Although we didn't get any wine, they have a great list and a solid list of local Minnesota microbrews.

Boom Clap! Burch, you are the sound of my heart! Every time I say your name, I start reminiscing about your menu. Is this what true love feels like? Those unbelievable dumplings, each one so beautiful and unique. Mouth-watering tomato soup, smooth and creamy with a lovely buttery finish. The perfectly rare bavette steak, different yet exciting, tender and peppery. Grilled mushrooms sauteed in bacon, you are unlike any mushroom I've ever experienced before. Your wine list makes me blush and your staff treats me like I'm the one and only. I don't know how long it'll be before I return, but you make my heart go all a flutter. I came here to celebrate a very special anniversary with my boyfriend but I'm now wondering, are you my soul mate?

Fantastic food, efficient service. Not the most romantic setting, but great for a memorable night out. Especially if you want to people watch out of their giant floor-to-ceiling windows.

Burch Steak's food is rich and heavy like Rick Ross, but its atmosphere is classy and fun like Pharrell. Friday Date Night continues on with my girlfriend, and Burch Steak helped keep the flames of love flickering despite this winter's deathly cold. #hungerreignssurpreme #kissmyasscold #cantdohashtagsonyelp We were met by a friendly host and were seated immediately. (*Note: Be sure to make reservations either on the phone or on the restaurant's website.) The menu is not overwhelmingly large, yet still provides a diversity of palatable noms to choose from. We ordered quite a few things: -Raw Oysters: I try to eat raw oysters whenever I can -since they're scarce in the Twin Cities- so I didn't hesitate to order them. They are solid, but if you're looking for the best raw oysters in the Twin Cities, this is not the place. -Lamb Tartare, milk yogurt, and Fresno peppers: In my opinion, I think this tartare is the dish that's the closest to sex. (Yes, even chocolate.) And if I were to characterize this hot and romantic plated lustfulness, it's like a threesome aka ménage à trois. The luscious lamb, sinful grilled sheep's milk yogurt, cowboyed with roasted Fresno peppers - all mess-around together to make a dish so deliciously wrong. #Ifeelsodirtywritingthis #sweatypalms -Fried semolina, brown butter, and sage: Soft? Check? Moist? Yup! Cheesy? Absolutely. But it was missing some kind of sweet or savory element to it and lacked some flavor. In addition, how does this fall underneath the sub-category of "Dumpling?" I wouldn't get it again. -Veal & pork kinkhali, butter, chili thread: Lots to love here, but just too much butter. I would def. consider getting it again and asking for a slight amendment to the dish. -Prime 16oz Ribeye: How could I dine at Burch and not have one of their steaks? That's like only ordering wings at a pizza joint. I like my steak still mooing (rare +) with a crispy outer texture, since a lot of places overcook a medium rare. Burch cooks it perfectly, and the sauces that come with it compliment it well. My biggest regret is not getting the grass-fed. It doesn't mean you won't enjoy your prime ribeye, though. Earl Grey Crème Brulee: I love Crème Brulee, and I liked the Early Grey twist. However, I don't think I would opt for it next time. Feel free to try it, though! Service: Friendly and attentive! What more could you want? There are lots of things to love about Burch Steak, and while I do want to give it a five, I think the dumplings were a bit overhyped. Nonetheless, if you opt for the apps and rip into one of their wonderful steaks, it'll make for an outstanding meal and awesome time.

Honestly , I would have given 3.5 stars only because our group sat downstairs and loved everything but couldn't hear a word that anyone was saying. Kind of weird cuz I luv low lighting and good energy but literally we couldn't have a conversation. Have had numerous dinners upstairs , and recommend sitting at the bar, and it has been a great experience. I would add that it is overpriced for what you get also.
