The service has been marginal over the years but we put up with it cause we like the pizza....It has been getting steadily worse and our last time we waited over an hour for our order with only excuses from the staff. One of the waitresses went to check and never came back to us - we won't be going back to them.

Had a miserable experience here tonight. Service started out fine, drinks were ordered and delivered, then everything started going downhill. The waitress returned to take our orders. She doesn't use a notepad so I figured she was an expert at her craft, even though we had a large party of 8. She then returned 15 minutes later, with a notepad, saying she forgot her notepad the first time, and made everyone repeat their orders. At this point I was growing extremely skeptical of this establishment, and the oddly dressed headless mannequin behind me was really adding to my distress. Not being in a pizza mood, I had ordered the greek salad with chicken, and, since at this point I was really doubting our waitress's abilities, made sure to confirm that she had added chicken to my order before she disappeared again. After I asked her this simple query, she stared at me like I had asked her a question in an alien language...for about 5-7 whole seconds...before writing down that I wanted chicken on my salad. Then she walked away, leaving us all in a confused stupor. Several of us commented, jokingly, that something in our order would be wrong when it arrived. If only we know how wrong it would be. After a completely disproportionately long wait for 2 pizzas and a salad, the food arrived, and I was immediately horrified by my salad. The lettuce was wilted and soggy, drenched in some unidentifiable oily liquid, and the only vegetables besides the sad lettuce were some equally sad banana peppers, maybe 3 black olive pieces and a hunk of an unripe, wet tomato on the side of the plate. Don't even get me started on the chicken...I'm pretty sure it was canned. It gave the whole salad an unsettling cat food vibe. BOTH of the pizzas the rest of us ordered were wrong. Where green olives were requested there where black olives, and vice versa. One pizza was supposed to be deep dish and wasn't. I don't even know how one mixes up one entirely different crust from another. It's a sin, really. Then, when this was all pointed out to the waitress, she got defensive and said it was because she had to go help out in the kitchen, and then blamed my boyfriend for not repeating the order back to her again after she wrote it down. Okay? At this point, it was kind of an out of body experience because I never dreamed service could be so bad, anywhere. The incorrect pizza wasn't taken off the bill either. Upon arriving home with the correct, boxed up deep dish pizza we originally ordered, we opened the box AND... It was wrong too. Sorry Italian Pie Shoppe. You'll never see me or my credit card again.

We ordered stuffed pizza for delivery through a 3rd party service. I lived in Chicago for 8 years and I can say with confidence it would not survive there. The sauce tasted like Ragu... And the crust was equally as bad and hardly cooked through. Giving it one star for the comedy factor because my husband and I couldn't stop laughing over just how bad it was!

Sarah C saved me some words because we must have had the same pathetic waitress. From our party of six, five got their food after about 20 minutes. One person had received no food when everyone else was finishing. We tried to cancel the order, but the waitress brought us the order in a takeout box, not acceptable since we were staying in a hotel. Repeatedly one of us had to get up and walk to the service station to get a fork or napkin, etc. Getting our check took forever because she had not written down the orders and had to ask us all again, then had to ring everything up. The place was empty except for us, and she had plenty of time to prepare. Sometimes in a situation like this good food or value for the money will lessen the pain of bad service. Unfortunately the food was between ordinary and bad. This was our third experience in this area with waitresses who couldn't do their jobs. What gives?

Service was terrible and food was very unimpressive. We went there because of a coupon but wont make that mistake again.

Ordered a cheese deep dish and cheesy bread. Probably the worst pizza I've ever had. I had to smother in it hot sauce just to put it down. It's too bad because the old lady at the counter was no nice. I would recommend trying a new dough and sauce recipe out

What happened!? I hear this place was a fun hole in the wall. Now the service is ok at best, and I would rather buy a frozen pizza! Yuck! Too bad for them. The idea is something special but they do not live up to their name.

I worked there as a kid and moved to Cal since then and definitely can't find half decent pizza there since I guess they're 'green', health conscious and stuff. The pizza sauce has a bite to it that I like and the sausage in the pizza or patties for the sandwiches are spicy. I'd consider it bold in flavor. The Italian fries are one of a kind still. The crust is soft and I add pepperoni, sausage, and smother the crust with the butter, garlic salt and oregano. I wish I could have it delivered to Cal.

We gut in promptly and were courteously served. I was underwhelmed by the calzone, though. The sauce lacked much of any sort of blended flavor and the crust was bland. Not sure I'd hustle to go back.

Not a fan. The crust of the pizza is very tasteless and dull. I ordered a Margherita pizza and was truly disappointing. It was a standard pizza with mozzarella and some slimy canned tomatoes and dried basil sprinkled over top. I can do that at home with a Jacks Pizza. To be fair ordered another time, deep dish and it was just tasteless and dull. Nothing is special about this place. Should have gone to Pizza Hut.

OMG their deep dish pizza is a burst of flavor in your mouth. Its sooo good. Not kidding you, the pizzas are huge with a amazing crust that isn't greasy like what you would expect from the typical deep dish. They aren't cheap on their toppings or skimp on them every bites gives you a mouthful of food. The meat lovers is my favorite so far. If you sign up for their newsletter online they have coupon deals. They also have a freezer right in the front that has some frozen pizzas for you to take home and bake if you are the grab and go kind of person. and Takeout they make their pizza's fresh so give them a call ahead of time so you don't have to wait around because the strip mall they are located in doesn't have much other than a fantastic sams and a mexican restaurant next door. The service was down to earth and friendly one of my favorite pizza places to eat at.

Their pizza crust has very, very little flavor and the sauce is very canned tasting. The toppings themselves were all right (I did enjoy the unusual additions like fresh chopped garlic) but they weren't good enough to elevate the overall experience. The service was slow and the waitress seemed generally disinterested. None of us had our drinks refilled the entire time we were there. After eating there, all of us felt vaguely ill and had stomach issues. I'm almost entirely positive we won't be returning... it wasn't a particularly good first impression. The only reason this place got a two star rating is due to their relatively large selection of unusual toppings and the atmosphere.

Working in Eagan I tend to find myself eating at the same few restaurants. I don't live around the area, so I don't venture out try new places as I am usually on my lunch break and want to make sure I like what I am eating. My co-worker has eaten here numerous times, and decided to take me this time. It is not a large space so it is perfect for people looking to get seated, order their food and leave. I would not suggest this as a hang out spot for dinner. It is the medium between fast food and a higher end sit down restaurant. The food was good, I got the white pizza and my co worker got the Chicago Torpedo and a slice of sausage. We both we very satisfied, nothing to authentic about it, but good nonetheless. Service was a little slow, but I got the vibe that they seat you and give you some time so they can get the whole order at once. The menu isn't to elaborate, so a couple minutes and you should be set. I will now add this to my regular spots for lunch! A many a dinner since there is a good selection of wine available to!

Best pizza in St Paul. I took my extended family to celebrate a birthday and I discreetly brought a cake with me. Italian Pie Shop staff refrigerated the cake while we ate our delicious pizza, put lighted candles on the cake and brought it to the table singing - made it a really special evening for us. I cannot thank the staff enough for the fabulous job they did. Privately owned by very warm, family friendly people!!

I have eaten here a few times in the past and found the deep dish to be decent. But when the 6 of us sat down for dinner a few weeks ago. We were amazed at the dry garlic toast served without sauce. And the fact that both pizzas were down right terrible! I've honestly had better frozen pizza! I'm not sure what happened to this restaurant but I will not be back anytime soon.

Ordered the lasagne w italian sausage. The salad that comes with meal was lame. The lettuce was brown and served with a soggy tomato. The sausage in the lasagne was cheap. Tasted gamey. The sauce was exactly like tomato paste. The lasagne was cold inside and noodles were hard. Service was average. Not overly friendly. I think ill stick w the cheese pizza if I ever come here again. Just not good at all

I had high expectations for this place but my recent dining experience was, for the most part, lousy. And I'm not hard to impress when it comes to pizza. I just can't say anything good about my meal. Maybe I ordered the wrong crust, who knows, nothing on their menu mentions anything about which crust is their original/famous/recommended crust. I'm pretty sure my crust was not handmade, if it was it was either pre-made or bought frozen. It doesn't matter in the end, there was so much sauce oozing out of the pizza that I couldn't taste anything else. The sauce wasn't terrible but I'd like to be able to at least taste the toppings and the crust. The salad was oily and just looked tired. I can't in good conscience recommend someone try their pizza, it just wasn't good. I wouldn't mind paying their prices if the meal was good however I would expect something a few steps above Little Caesars. The service was decent but I won't be back.

Last night I wanted spaghetti and meatballs, period. DiGidio's was packed to the gills. So we just keep driving down W.Seventh and I was just moved to hop on 35South. This has moved from the end of the strip mall to right next to El Loro. I remembered how much I loved the spagetts when it was where Brasa now is home. I hate the one on Grand, even though it was a great move for them and all the Mac walk in traffic. First of all this one isn't ass backward and the takeout is in the FRONT. For $25. we got 2 dinners and 2 drinks. I love it that they aren't cheap, as in generous with 2 good sized meatballs. They're super moist, yet packed solid. Which makes it easy for cutting. The noodles left a little puddle which absorbed all the sauce. We asked for extra and they didn't have an attitude or even charge us for the extra. It was better than I remembered. I imagine it's the same story that the deep dish is better than the flat.. Basil enjoyed the chocolate gelato. I don't think the bread was homemade, but I liked it just the same. I was so stuffed, I just enjoyed half for lunch today.

Had the six topping special, which was fabulous old-style pizza. Expect the preparation (cooking, really) to take longer than a chain pizza - the toppings are that generous. Great pizza. Friendly staff. Quaint family owned atmosphere. I shall return.

In doing my review of Savoy's yesterday, it reminded me of this little restaurant in Eagan. I've only eaten on location once or twice. One of the times was the day Paul Wellstone was killed, so I remember the place well. The restaurant is long and narrow, but not too loud. There are few TVs strewn about to distract you from who you're eating with and decorated with lots of old pictures, newspapers, and trinkets. Very nice atmosphere. I've only been there during the day and I'm not much of a drinker, so I can't speak to the winery aspect of their restaurant. The pizza is comparable to other pizzerias in The Cities. It's a bit greasy, but you don't eat pizza for health reasons. I wouldn't necessarily choose the Itailian Pie Shoppe over other local pizza joints, but it's definitely one of the places we consider whenever the crew at work wants pizza.

My husband and I went here last night because we were in the area and felt like pizza. We normally go to the Grand Ave location (SO much better IMO!!). Our experience was pleasant to begin with. We ordered a large deep dish Italian sausage pizza with cheese bread and a soda and beer. In a timely manner, our drinks were served and the cheese bread was brought out. We finished the cheese bread and waited and waited..it felt like an eternity. Especially since we were sitting in between two tables of couples, the couple on the right they were arguing (loudly I might add) and the couple to our left...lets just say she was crying and leave it at that. Finally, our waitress comes to our table and says the cook dropped our pizza when it was coming out of the oven. She says she's sorry and that the pizza will be free. By now, EVERYONE that came after us has received their food. Finally our pizza comes out, we eat two pieces each and both just want to leave! "We'll eat more at home...let's just get outta here!", were my husband's exact words. So, we get the bill and the pizza is NOT free like she said! She took $9 off the pizza and $3.95 off for my husbands beer. Now why would she do that..? Why not just take the $17.74 off for the actual pizza to make it free (like she said she would)? Maybe because what she actually did was CHEAPER than just making the pizza free? That was the straw that broke the camels back, as they say! If you say you're going to do something, please do it! The wool was not pulled over my eyes by your 'creative' math. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN!

Great homemade pizza in a classic pizza parlor. Brought me back to childhood when I walked in there as it's just like the small town pizza place I grew up with. We only had the deep dish pizza - on the high end of cost given the size, but good flavor & deep dish crust was cooked just right.

We don't eat in often, mostly because there are places with a better atmosphere and service, but you can't knock this place that really just makes fabulous pizza! We try everyone's pizza and this is the one we get as our standard. Have some good friends over and order the large deep dish spinach pizza and get a really nice bottle of red wine. I guarantee it will be a great, casual and inexpensive evening. We have been getting this pizza for over 20 years and have introduced it to many of our friends and family. Our family comes from out of town and asks for this pizza as one of the "musts" while visiting! Our other favorite is the build your own deep dish. We do their italian sausage (which is great italian sausage!), pepperoni and green pepper. That's it! It's so yummy! The south of the border pizza is fabulous too! Be sure to print off their online coupon which never expires, and they will let you use it on more than one large pizza. Get on their mailing list and get even more discounts like a $25 gift card for $19.

First, the salad, limp iceberg lettuce and some croutons, next, their garlic bread has no garlic, and is on white bread, and their spaghetti is overcooked, the sauce obviously canned--not jarred, canned, and the meatballs taste like cardboard. The service was incredibly slow. The only positive is that we were able to get a table on a Friday night, I wish we hadn't.

I went here with my family on Super Bowl Sunday because we figured we would have the place to ourselves. The first waitress we had seemed very distracted and forgot our drink order and had to take it again. Then she brought the wrong one. We ordered a large deep dish with sausage and pepperoni. The crust was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, but had no taste. The toppings were good. But it must have been too rich or something because both my wife and I had upset stomachs after we got home. It has a nice old-time decor. Lots of Americana and old wood furnishings. We probably won't be going back since the pizza didn't agree with us and now we have an aversion to it. But I'm giving them three stars because it may have been an isolated incident.

We went here a few years ago, and after having to wait for nearly an hour for our pizza, we vowed never to go back. Well, tonight we had a craving for deep dish, and thought we'd give them another try. My husband called and ordered a deep dish (I was standing there and heard him), but when he went to pick it up... thin crust. He pointed out the mistake, but they didn't offer to fix it. Fool me once...

We had some picky eaters with us, and the variety was more then enough to ensure everybody got something that they wanted. The beer list is VERY small, but there is a variety from cheap stuff to local micro brews, so this worked out as well. We got a deep dish pizza and a thin crust pizza. Both were very good. We arrived as a party of eight, which they are not set up to immediately seat. The hostess asked if we would be OK with two booths, and I told her that we would not. She took this in stride and made it all work out in just a minute. She ended up asking a couple that was dining if they could move over a table (Thanks to this mystery couple.) If you a large group, I might call ahead to give them a heads up. We will go here again.

We come here every once in a while for pizza and a dipper. The dipper is good - cheese bread with marinara sauce, as is the pizza. The waitresses are friendly and prices are reasonable. Good place. Reasonably busy but we've never had to wait for a table. They have at least one TV but it's not super distracting or anything.

The twin cities offers better pizza joints such as luce, phyco Suzie's, and savoy but if I lived in Eagen or closer then north east Minneapolis I would for sure frequent here if the others shops weren't available. There isn't a chain pizza joint that could beat it!!! Negatives *A bit on the greasy side *No delivery

OK restaurant in a strip mall location. They make pretty good pizza - they started long, long, long ago as Carbone's franchisees in another location, before the owners decided to start the Italian Pie Shoppe.. Busy place for lunch as many of the local folks stop for the very reasonable and substantial offerings. Not just pizza, either. The have mostacciolli, spaghetti, sandwiches and salads. reasonable prices and efficient servers make this a nice, if not overly exciting, place to eat.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
