I haven't actually dined in a Ponderosa in years. But when I am hosting a party or get together I always dial up Ponderosa for the wings. I believe you get 50 wings for $20 bucks. Yeah I could buy a bag of wings and do it myself but why bother for the same money. And the wings are actually good! They have a touch of spice and they aren't heavily breaded. I advise calling in your order at least an hour and a half before you need them. While it only takes 20 minutes to cook them this place is normally packed and your call in gets pushed to the back. The wings are good hot or room temperature. Straight from the bag to the serving tray. Easy!

My first time here and it was bad! Food taste was to salty and very dry! Not expensive only $25.00 for two people! Will not return!

Food was way over priced for what you get. Steak was flat and small. My kids got buffet, but the food was lunch line quality. Seats had holes in them, and were duct taped up. Think twice about going there. I NEVER week again!

This place sucks. They are charging you way to much for the quality of food there putting in front of you. I ordered Ribeye steak I asked for it Medium Well and was way overdone, the baked potato was not fresh, you can tell it was old. My brother ordered the French fries and he said they were bad, so I tryed one and he was right. When you bite into the fry the inside falls apart, it's suppose to stick together. The service was average. Waitress didn't say hi or hello. I had to ask her for butter for my baked potato and she looked like I was troubling her. I also asked her to break a $20 and she seemed like she was upset by it. Overall food sucked, service average, way over priced. The place wasn't that clean either.

One of the worst Ponderosa I have ever been. I would not consider this location accesible. No properly sized parking spots, extremely heavy doors and no womans accessible parking. The food was cold and look like it was from the day before.

Horrible. Mass-produced food out of the box or bag, dirty dishes (food still stuck on them!), not a wide selection of food. I asked for my damn money back. I mean, how hard is it to clean dishes? Just nasty. The Board of Health should shut this place down.

Should be renamed Pondergrosa. It was a dark and stormy night. Snow and Ice all over and we were sliding on the road. Myself, my wife, my mother-in-law, and her friend were on the search for something to eat that wouldn't take 40mins to wait to get seated. Someone suggested Ponderosa and since I was in Southfield I decided why not. We got there and the Handicapper parking was all off to the very side. I let off the ladies while I tried to find a decent spot, I did not see the Handicapper spots (my MIL cannot move around too well so hence the need for Handicapper parking). When I got in I walked the round about way to where my group was at the register. The First thing I noticed was the prices. Everything was more expensive than the last time I remember going to a Ponderosa. To get just the Buffet was $10. And that did not include a drink. Drinks were $2.25 with free refills. We each ordered a drink and the Buffet. My MIL who does not walk to well on her own needed an arm. I offered my arm and we slowly walked across the restaurant to a table near a window. The Second thing I noticed was All Eyes were on me. I wasn't to sure why at the time, But I soon learned the reason... I'm White and EVERYONE there was Black. SO I guess that Ponderosa wasn't used to White folks. It was disconcerting to me. I am used to being stared at because My wife is Black and I am White. Anyway I wasn't there to start a Race War, all We wanted was to eat. My wife had already went up to the buffet and I was next to last to go up. I walked up to her and leaned in and asked if she was finding everything ok? Well another Customer heard me asking my wife, and the guy looked over at me and said to me out loud "Yeah do ya'll have any cole slaw?" I was a little taken aback. I told the guy I don't work here. I went on my way to look for a plate. Well as another reviewer stated, this Ponderosa apparently doesn't have normal Plates only Salad Plates which are tiny and don't hold much. I can only assume the reason is they want to save on washing. Drinks finally came and I had ordered Unsweetened Raspberry Ice Tea. One sip and I about near fell over it was so sweet It was barely drinkable. The Waitress came over and I asked her about the Tea she said they only had SWEET Ice Tea and Raspberry Ice Tea. I scratch my head because it tasted like someone dumped a bucket of sugar in it. I asked for a glass of Ice water which I used to dilute my drink. The Food was very lackluster on the Buffet. there was a Salad Bar, 2 Hot Food Bars, and allegedly a Dessert Bar. The Salad Bar was the only part of the Buffet with any variety and thats not saying much. The 1st hot bar was all essentially Potato's in various styles... cheesy, mashed, deep fried. and couple different bread rolls. the 2nd hot bar was deep fried chicken wings, then some baked chicken thighs, greens, black eye peas, and some sort of "meat" balls in some goo gravy, and then some sort of seasoned beef mix with greasy oily "mexican" goop floating on top. The Dessert bar was green jello, tan pudding, and broken vanilla wafers. ugh. Even though I did not pay for dinner, my MIL's friend paid for dinner, I was not impressed with the food. The atmosphere of this Ponderosa was akin to a dive bar. I really did not like feeling singled out by other customers and I hated that my MIL's friend paid over $45 for us to eat some wilted lettuce buffet that had food not even worthy for the sleaziest Dive bar. The fun part was 24hrs later I was sick in the bathroom. I knew it was from the Pondergrosa. Yelp asks if the place is good for Lunch or Dinner or... well I don't recommend anyone eating there. I will never go back to that location again.

We were new to the area and when I saw the Ponderosa, I was eager to try it since I hadn't eaten in one since I was a kid. Well, let me tell you, thanks to this one, I never will again! There is only one good thing I can say about this place -- the server who brought our drinks and food to the table was nice. Everything else was horrible, horrible, horrible. The entire place is filthy. Not merely dirty -- filthy! The cashier who took our order was extremely rude, bordering on hostile. There is a drink station near the register and, having never been there before, I asked my husband if we got our own drinks. The cashier overheard me and berated me for asking!! Apparently, she'd given my husband the info while I was helping my son decide what to eat. I nearly walked out right then and there, but my husband hates to be embarrassed or complain in situations like this, so I stuck it out. As if that wasn't bad enough, the food was overcooked, the buffet bar was sloppy with dirty spoons and spills all over the place. On top of that, everything is over-priced. I could never in good conscience recommend this place to ANYONE. Go anywhere else but here!!!

It's an inside joke in my family about Ponderosa because when I was a kid my mom would take me here thinking I would only eat the buffet. She thought Ponderosa was a cheap option for taking me and my sister out to eat because the buffet is pretty extensive and is fairly inexpensive. Well, a rude awakening came when I was approaching 7 years old and I asked for Steak instead of the buffet. Since then, Ponderosa quickly became less frequented. This Ponderosa has been around for years (clearly) but it's still bustling and seriously has good food. I suggest coming out here during the weekday for a quiet dinner because the weekends become packed (with families). You order your food first, and the sit and wait for the server to bring it to you. Because most people order the buffet, usually you don't have to wait around.

i am on business, working in michigan. i havent been in a ponderosa in over 15 years, myself and my wife order 2 RIBEYES one with a buffet the other just with the potato, both steaks were just plain grissly, embedded into the meat. very fatty, it was the worse steak i have ever had. that dinning experience was back on 8/19/13. i contacted ponderosa and no one from there corporate office ever, responded back. so this is my way to tell the world. stay away from PONDEROSA. also there washroom was in need of attention asa well.
