We are first time visitors to Saugatuck ( which is a fantastic family vacation destination) and chose Wicks for our night out on the last night of our vacation. We were glad we did. First, the details--- eight adults, four children ages 4,3,2,1. Our six PM reservations were honors as we we were swiftly taken to our table. The restaurant has an open feel even when dining inside with a beautiful location directly across from a park on the inlet. Our server ( Nicole )was terrific as was the food. We shared crab dip, buffalo chicken rolls and lettuce wraps which were all excellent and accompanied our drinks very well. Speaking of drinks, we mostly enjoyed their extensive selection of draft beers, most of which were excellent local brews. Our main courses tended to the simple like terrific fish tacos, pizza and burgers since we were dining with young children---- all were excellent. Of special note were the two pasta dishes we ordered, particularly the carbonara which was as good as any I've ever had. Note: the small half order was more than enough. My advise--- include Wicks in your dinner plans when visiting Saugatuck.

This is one of those places you walk by that has a nice setting and an interesting menu with many offerings and you are like...yeah let's try here. Unfortunately the food doesn't turn out to be what you hope for. A beet salad that's swimming in dressing, fish tacos with nothing in them no avocado or guacamole available and a veggie burger on a stale bun were the highlights of the meal. Our server apologized about our food taking so long and coming out incorrectly and said the kitchen was crazy. After saying that we looking around and the restaurant was empty on a Sunday nite. Umm crazy doing what??? Disappointing meal and probably would not come back.

The following details are relevant because this review is geared toward one or two particular individuals; the host and the bartender. We went to this establishment Saturday night, 9/6 at approx 7pm. The only way to describe the host was that he reminded me of Boy George from the 80's version of Culture Club. We stood at the host stand for at least 5-6 minutes before he even showed up to help us. Rather than greet us, the first thing he did was reach for his cell phone plugged into the wall and do some texting. THEN he turned to us and put our name on the waiting list. We were told it would be approx 30-35 minute wait and he asked us to sit at the bar where it would be easy to find us. Fine. We were facing the door and watched another group of 3 come in and put their name on the waiting list approximately 10 minutes after we did. They ended up sitting next to us at the bar. They apparently knew the band members that were setting up and the 6 of them were talking at the bar. Soon after, the host approached this group and said they should have a table ready for them in about 5 minutes. The woman was very surprised and even said "really, that was quick, I thought it was going to be a wait." That table SHOULD have gone to those of us ahead of them on the waiting list. When the bartender overheard us complaining he said they were a group of 6 that could not be seated at a table for 4. Well that would be a fine reason if they were a group of 6 but they were a group of 3 and we watched them taken back to their 4 person table. Soon after that, a two person high top table became open behind which we thought might be ours. However, while we were still seated at the bar watching the door, two gentlemen (likely of his same sexual orientation) came in and began talking to the host rather covertly as if they also knew him. The host glanced around and appeared to be trying to find an open table and pointed to the recent two person table that was being cleaned as well as another table. After these gentlemen, and then yet another party that came in after us were seated BEFORE us, we walked out of the restaurant. Never in my life have I witnessed such an appalling restaurant employee and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone going to the area.

Great place to go for dinner! They had live music and let our kids walk around so they could dance. Amazing fish tacos and burgers.

Fish Tacos are a must! We sat outside with beautiful weather. Waiter was very polite and very responsive. Would recommend while in Saugatuck.

Took a day trip to SW Michigan this past weekend and stopped in Saugatuck. The weather was great for mid-October and downtown was crowded, but not jammed packed...minimal parking if you're familiar with the area. On the walk back to the car My Mom and I decided we were hungry and should just eat there before heading off to our next stop. This place was on the walk back to the car. Formally known as Billy's Boat House my mom remembers eating there at some point. Me, never been. We were greeted promptly when we arrived, there was no wait and a little past 12:30 in the afternoon. Everything was smooth till after we placed our order then we waited...and waited...and waited at least a half hour or more for our food. This restaurant was not at all near capacity at this time and we were ready to get up and leave when I said we should wait a few more minutes. We did, and our food arrived a few short minutes later. If it wasn't for the long wait, I would have rated this place with an additional star. I ordered the buffalo chicken rolls which were an appetizer for a meal, an my mom ordered a veggie burger (this came with chips) so nothing spectacular that warranted such a long wait.

We were in town celebrating our one-year anniversary and staying in downtown Saugatuck. We spent Saturday afternoon wandering around checking out all the great shops and restaurants. We stopped in Wicks Park on a whim and found a seat at the bar. We had a couple drinks and decided to order an appetizer - the buffalo chicken egg rolls were fantastic...although a little pricey for what you got. Drinks were affordable and the other food being served around us looked great as well. Worth a visit!

We've been coming to Saugatuck for 30 yrs and used to come here for Perch every year when previously owned. They had good strong drinks, fresh perch and a very nice portion, good bar food, and absolutely the best live bands in town. (Saugatuck really needs more good live music) When we tried under this ownership we were very disappointed. The fish portion was very small, no music, spacey service, and weak drinks. -probably won't go back

We happened upon Wick's after leaving another establishment in Saugatuck because their staff was rude. Not the case here, we were greated pleasantly and seated right away at a table in the front along their open windows. It was a great place to watch the rest of Saugatuck stroll by. Our server was also very friendly and nice. We ordered cocktails and several sandwiches from the menu. I had the Wick's Park Burger - very good - juicy on a nice fluffy bun with crisp, hot fries on the side. Two others in our party had the Fish Tacos and really enjoyed them. The last item we tried was the Steak & Cheese Sandwich and my friend raved about it. The only downside to our meal is that the tacos came out fairly soon and we waited for the other two sandwiches..and waited..and waited. The waitress came over and apologized - they had given our burger and steak sandwich to another table!! Fortunately, both were good enough to wait for once we finally got them. We ordered the Key Lime Pie for dessert and split it...I would come back to Wick's Park for that dessert alone - it was one of the best we've ever had.

Aces to this place for the great service and atmosphere. The drinks were spot on and the food was delicious. The key lime pie made my mouth water for more. I almost didn't get it for the $8 bucks but they give you quite a large piece. I wanted to come back for one last meal, but will have to save it for another trip.

So happy we discovered this place on our way back from Grand Rapids to Chicago Friendly staff (Brian, our bartender was funny and extremely helpful), good food (we had lettuce wrap, gumbo and shared the rib eye steak) and drinks as well as nice casual atmosphere, lots of regulars which is always a good sign

Been here before and had good food and service, so took the family back in during this years trip to Saugatuck. Sadly, there were no similarities today with our prior visit. Service was painfully slow though only a few tables were occupied. Ordered beverages, but had to ask three times for sweetener for the iced tea. Once meals were ordered the server comes back a few minutes later to inform us that there were no beets for the beet salad and no ribs. Understandable given the holiday weekend, but being informed of these things before ordering would have been helpful. Waited long after we'd finished our appetizers for our entrees to arrive only to see the table next to us served their entrees even though they were seated at least 15 minutes after us. Food finally arrives but my chicken salad sandwich is not on the croissant as advertised on the menu. Instead it arrives on a hamburger bun! Send it back and just ordered soup since everyone else is already eating. Figures that is quick to serve. Wrong. Takes at least another 5-10 minutes for that to come out. Poor brother in law meanwhile is still waiting on his mustard and nearly finishes his dry burger by time the server returns and he's asks again. Save yourself the disappointment of overpriced tasteless salads, out of stock items and poor service and head elsewhere.

So glad we finally tried out Wicks! Great meals, drinks and atmosphere. The location rocks too! Everyone in our large party enjoyed their dish and we covered just about every portion of the menu! Bloody Mary's are fantastic - loved the spicy!

Been here in Saugatuck for a few days now and this is the best meal we've had so far. Enjoying a beautiful evening on the patio. Our waitress Kylie was amazing. Very friendly. She also answered tons of questions we had about the city. It was our best experience yet.. High recommend

We had the fish tacos and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were very very good! The curly fries were of course a favorite too lol. Great for groups or with a date.

O.K tried it again. This Was the last time. Fish taco's were better and a lot cheaper from drive ins along PCH #1 when I lived in s. Cali. There are better restaurants in Saugatuck than this place. Don't waste your time.

Our family likes going to wicks every year we are in town. Wicks is a solid place for dinner with a fun light atmosphere with observant and responsive staff. I like their burgers and my kids like their kids menu.

Wicks is a beautiful restaurant with a nice outdoor area. We had a great waitress. My wife questioned her wine and the waitress immediately offered to change it out. The cheddar burger was good. It would have been great if the cheddar was melted!!! The veggie burger was tastless. All in all, I would go again. It merited a second try.

If you love local craft beers and friendly, helpful bartenders this bar is perfect...the best beer selection in town. The fish tacos are excellent, the pizzas are great and the conversation is always lively. Not sure what kind of beer you might like? Tell Nate what your tastes are and he will find the perfect match...I can almost guarantee it (its a gift). Brian and Chad are irreplaceable as well. I most certainly would recommend this place!

Horrible place if you're looking to eat. Perch was soggy and somewhat med temp. We ordered the deluxe pizza with several ingredients including pepperoni and sausage. Tasted like pure tomato paste was spread out on the pizza. No spices. Also - After showing the service there was no meat on the pizza by taking apart half the pizza we basically got a "too bad" and here's your check. NEVER AGAIN! Was very very very disappointed. I'm giving it 2 stars - it's a place to go for live bands on saturday night and if you stick with the beer. - Just don't order food.

I made reservations based on what I found on yelp, and I am so glad we came here! A group of about 14 of us came here for dinner for part of our bachelorette party, and everyone loved the food. I shared a pizza, which was delicious! The atmosphere was fun, and the staff was great. Our waitress rocked! I would definitely come back next time I visit MI.

Lovely big dining room, not a lengthy menu but something for everyone from perfectly cooked pasta to salmon burgers and hamburgers to bacon wrapped salmon. For lunch I had the fish tacos, which are made with blackened mahi mahi, creme fraiche, black beans, monterey jack, fresh pico de gallo, on flour tortillas. Delicious. Pasta comes in a half size portion but two members of our party had full size portions and no trouble finishing them. They were both delicious. Great list of interesting beers on tap, which is always a plus, and they were willing to give us several samples of beers we were unfamiliar with. The staff were really pleasant, and willing to change the TVs so we could watch the sports we were interested in, another plus!

went here on the 28th of june and got the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. we were walking around all day and decided to stop in here. We where given a menu and waited about 20 mins for our waiter. we order to root beer floats for a drink and then we're going to order a pizza for supper before we hit the sunset cruise on the boat right across the street. After we placed our drink order , he quickly grabed our menus before I could even say anything and huffed away. after trying to flag down multiple people to ask for some new menus and possibly a new waiter, we both went to the restroom and I have to tell you this was the most disgusting restroom I have ever been in. it stink like a dirty cat box in a sticky on the floor. that was the last straw with and waiting for 45 minutes for root beer floats.. so finally we see our waiter and he brings us our bill and I ask him what about our dinner we where going to order? he just called and said oh I thought you only wanted drinks.. wth? then the bill came and he expected a gratuity on this bill for walking away. I gave him 3 cents and walked out after my bill was payed.

Wick's Park is a great place for a drink, the ambiance is nice (love the modern yet cozy decor and they fireplace is lovely) but the food, while good, didn't really knock my socks off. We had a gift card here the weekend I was in Saugatuck for my birthday a few weeks ago so we grabbed dinner here on a Sunday night. I had been overindulging a bit to that point so I attempted to go a little healthier (ha!) by getting the grilled chicken sandwich (sans swiss cheese) with a side of the truffle mac and cheese. Now, the mac and cheese? Amazing. It was creamy and gooey, the way I like my m&c! I would go back there for that alone. The sandwich was pretty good too. The chicken was moist and marinated in something quite tasty. It came on a Texas-like toast, and I think I might have preferred a fancier bun of some sort instead but otherwise it did the trick. The beer menu is solid. A wide variety of bottled and draft beers. In fact, there are a TON of draft beers here and they all sounded great. The wine list is a little sparse compared to other places I've been to in the area but they do have a choice of a few reds, whites, and sparklings. Would have loved to see some specialty cocktails on the menu but alas there were none that I can recall. Since it was a Sunday night in off season it was pretty quiet in there which I appreciated. Save for a few belligerently drunk people that kept making a bit of a ruckus. I definitely got a kick out of how the bartender handled them, though. Overall, Wick's Park ain't bad, but with all the outstanding choices for eats in Saugatuck I'm not sure I'll be putting it into my regular dinner rotation when I'm only there for a weekend. But I sure would go back there for a lunch of mac and cheese and a beer!

We've been to Wicks Park three times and have been pleased The service is average to above average, and the food, very good. Pre-vegan days, we loved the Fish Tacos and the burgers. They have many other entrees to choose from. Now that we're vegans, we're very happy that they widened their menu for vegetarians/vegans. In addition to the usual salad, they also offer a great Veggie Burger, which this time was unfortunately served only warm and with lettuce, tomatoes, BBQ sauce and a chipotle ranch dressing, which we ordered on the side. We ordered a couple glasses of chardonnary (not the house which we don't recommend) and it was OK -- not great. They have a lively bar area which was really hopping and the night we were there, a band was starting up just as we left. Looks like a pretty popular place and we're looking forward to going back.

I'm sorry to say, this place was not so great. It was the second time I was there. It was freezing cold inside the restaurant. (Was indeed warmer outside) As we all mentioned it to our server, he acted as though we we're just fragile little ladies and did nothing about it. OK, no problem. Everyone else in the place looking cold as well. The food arrives. Eh. No one was really happy with it. The salad was bland and made up of ice berg lettuce. The pasta was oily and came with nothing to write home about. Sorry to say, I won't return to this place. It has potential but, there are a bunch of other places in the area with better food, cheaper prices and an overall warmer environment. Sorry Wicks, you're all wicked out.

We love Wicks Park! Great people--bartenders, especially, "Frosty" and Nate in particular--well-poured drinks, really good food that's better than most Saugatuck tourist places. Casual, fun, well above-average food. Favorites include the burgers, chicken sandwich, and fish tacos. Former Chicago residents agree the pizza is the best by far in the Saugatuck area. Weekends often see a live band performing. If so, expect a larger crowd and a higher overall decibel level. The place is located near the river channel across from the chain ferry, so it's never as crowded as some of the Butler Street places.. We've never once had a bad time at Wicks.

  • Jean M.

My family really enjoyed the salmon burgers and fish tacos that we tried based on Yelp recommendations. My daughter demolished nearly all of my curly fries before I could get to them! Service was friendly and the 70s/80s live band was very enjoyable. This is a restaurant/bar, so it gets busy and a bit noisy. However, I'd definitely go back for the sandwiches and friendly service. They accept reservations on the weekend, which was hard to find in the summer. One more thing... the home made desserts were phenomenal. And huge, even for 2 people to share. Both the key lime pie and Godiva brownie sundaes were great!

Wicks is a great place. We were a party of seven women and our waitress did not miss a beat. The food was delicious and it arrived quickly. The open air windows made it feel like we were on the beach. When the live entertainment started, we decided to stay longer and ended up dancing the night away. We had a great time!

We went there for lunch on a Saturday. ..it was incredible! ! Our server was super friendly and made great suggestions. The lettuce wraps were very unique and delicious! The fish tacos were outstanding! Highly recommend to anyone who visits the Saugatuck area.

Apologetically understaffed the day we had lunch at Wicks. It was okay though. The food is mildly overpriced and the place has little ambiance for late spring. I am sure it would be lovely in the summer months. Would not make it my first choice in the future.

Ok food with good local beer selection. Try the local great and maybe the pizza or fish tacos. Rest of the food is just OK. Too many bad fried options.

Best restaurant in Saugatuck. The food is quite good but honestly the service is what makes this place top notch. I'm from Los Angeles and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the Midwest.

We were visiting Saugatuck for the holiday and stopped in for just cocktails at the bar before the fireworks, so this has nothing to do with the food. Bar was not busy. Our drinks sat empty for some time, and it almost felt like the bartender serving us was avoiding us. Not even remotely pleasant attitude our entire stay. Tossed our receipt at us and didn't thank us. I'm a bar and FOH manager so I tend not to leave negative reviews because I understand how it can be, but this visit warranted one. It was awkward and unpleasant. No thanks.

We were walking past here and decided on a whim to give it a shot. First impressions can be everything and it appeared clean and well organized. Those of view expecting Chicago-Michigan Ave style food, service, and water may be in for disappointment almost anywhere you go in Saugatuck. (Yes, there are some exceptions) I enjoyed Wick's and would definitely recommend it to others. They've got solid food and it's a nice place to have lunch or dinner while waiting for the Star of Saugatuck to set sail or for when those munchies hit On the particular night we visited, they were able to open all of the front doors which gave the place a nice open air vibe and view of the surrounding area/street. Our service was attentive and everything we could ask for really. We just wanted to be checked up on from time to time and our waitress kept the drinks flowing to our satisfaction. My lake perch was fresh and really enjoyed it and curly fries were gone within minutes. Significant other got the Rib eye steak sandwich which she completely finished (that alone says A LOT!) Overall, a nice and relaxing (I can't forget filling experience too!) It set the tone for our 8pm sunset cruise on the Star of the Saugatuck.

We were having a most wonderful day in Saugatuck, shopping, watching people and decided to stop in for a drink. One of the bartenders was so entertaining we stayed longer. Frosty seems to be a favorite of all the locals and makes the stop into this bar more than worth it. Not to mention the fabulous happy hour prices! We will return as often as we can.

Rolled into downtown Saugatuck Sunday night (Valentines day) for a dinner with my wife. I have been coming to Saugatuck for dinner and entertainment for over 20 years and have eaten many times at virtually every restaurant in town, but had not been to Wicks Park for dinner (stopped by for drinks a month ago) since it's days as Billies Boathouse. Our default is usually Wally's or Chequers, but we decided to try something new. I ended up with the new restaurant remorse. I sensed impending doom when the very helpful and pleasant waiter brought a faux milk jug filled with warm water and no ice to fill our glasses. Perhaps in Arizona this nod to energy efficiency would be welcomed, however drill down 10 feet in this area and fresh drinkable water shoots out like a rat out of an aqueduct. My wife is the healthy one of us so after pursuing the limited entree options she decided on the fish. I felt the entree options were limited and overpriced, so not being overly hungry I choose the Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich ($11). A few minutes after ordering, the waiter returned to state they were out of the fish. My wife then decided on the fish tacos. When the dinner arrived I was more than underwhelmed by the size of the sandwich but anticipated it would make up for it with taste. Not so. I love salt, but the seasoned fries where enough to give me a heart condition. The shrimp where bland and rubbery, while the sauce consisted of what appeared to be mayonnaise and cayenne pepper. My wife's fish taco's where liquidy, causing the flour tortilla to dissolve into a doughy paste after a short period. It seems the proprietors concluded that a trendy and open interior could offset marginal, simplistic, and overpriced offerings. Here's a hint folks; lower prices, increase portions, or get a chef that knows what he is doing. Until then, there are a number of downwardly noble establishments in Saugatuck that will get my dollars. One noteworthy example is Wally's, where the wife and I retreated to after the Wicks debacle. We sat at the bar sipping our drinks while a patron was served an enviable dinner. When I told him about our experience that night, he smiled and said "You should have just come here, they have the best food!" I responded "We usually do, I won't make that mistake again."

Had a really nice birthday dinner at Wicks Park. From the outside, the place looks a bit rundown but your in for a pleasant surprise when you get in. Its warm, and cozy and we both really enjoyed our fish tacos and shrimp skewers. Unfortunately, I forgot our waitress' name but she was fantastic! I love Saugatuck and this place seems like a great addition.

For our wedding welcome party we rented a space for 50 people. We were given a flat rate price for open bar and appetizers for 2 hrs, and a private space. The space we had reserved had people seated for dinner for over an hour of the allotted 2 hrs. There was never a full buffet of food throughout, even after complaining 3 times. We ended up having 53 people (after getting accused of having way more than 50) I did an exact head count, and that was their reason for the lack of food. My guests were going up to the bar to buy their own drinks because the service was so slow. They only assigned 2 waitresses for our party, and we still ended up paying $1000 more than originally quoted. This was the worst part of our wedding weekend, and we defnitely won't be back. I've been coming to Saugatuck in the summertime for 30yrs, and thought we'd finally give this place a shot. Luckily everything else about our weekend was perfect, but wish it had included Wick's Park. There are tons of great places in Saugatuck, sometimes you have to stick to what you know. I'm sure The Butler could've pulled this off without a hitch. Only regret.

During our much-needed long weekend away from the City with the Highest Sales Tax in the Nation ("Bitter, party of 1"), I am happy to say we began our trip with Wicks and we ended our trip with Wicks. And we all ordered the same exact thing both visits because we loved our food so much. Totally went there blindly - thus had no preconceived notions. Took the chain ferry over from across the river and Wicks was our first stop. Both times we had fabulous friendly service. "How are the fish tacos here?" to which the server replied "our #1 best seller." "And the fried perch sandwich?" "Our 2nd most popular." The 3 of us who ordered the fish tacos exclaimed with delight "BEST fish tacos EVER!" And me? "Great fried perch sandwich!" I did send mine back one of the two times I ordered it, only because I like my fried stuff crispier/darker than they prepared it. No worries. Save room for these two gems: homemade blueberry buckle (made using the berries from an employee's garden), served warm with vanilla ice cream; and the homemade Godiva Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream. Both are not to be missed!

This is my first review and written on my phone nonetheless, so bear with me... The visit started of with the hostess setting us between two TVs. Knowing my, and my son's, tendency to zone out when close to glowing electronics, my wife asked to be moved to a table next to the window. After a triple eye-roll the hostess moved us to a table in the back, nowhere close to the window seat requested. We should have recognized this omen and found a different restaurant. Why they even have TVs in restaurants I'll never understand. When our waitress eventuality showed up she must have seen the frustration on our faces, and asked what she could do to make our visit better. She quickly agreed to move us to the, still empty, table we'd originally asked for. This, unfortunately, I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich ($11), my wife ordered the "fresh lake perch" ($18) and we asked for the quesadilla ($10) off the appetizer menu and roasted red potatoes ($3) off the sides menu for our son. The steak on my sandwich had waaay to much salt, and there were not enough onions or peppers. The perch was decent, the highlight of the meal. The quesadilla, unfortunately due to a mis-spoken order, was dumbed down from cheese, corn, beans, sour cream, etc.. to just cheese, but still $10. By the time we realized our error a fourth of the quesadilla was eaten. The rest went untouched. Our son missed out. Bottom line, there are far to many other good options in town. I wish we had passed on by this one.

Great beers and fish tacos. Fresh and flavorful food and beers. Well above average. Solid service and calming atmosphere. We'll come back. Kids menu a plus as well.

Very loud live cover band that was below average. We (a couple) were seated at a table next to a table of 4 screaming children and 3 equally loud parents. We saw two groups of people ask to move tables due to this obnoxious group. Management had to know this table was ruining the evening for everyone (this is not a kids' restaurant-it is a bar/restaurant) yet said nothing. Our food was ok, nothing special. Craft beer and appetizer prices were high compared to Chicago.

I was in Saugatuck for two days, and stayed at the Bayside Inn, a block away from Wicks. We had lunch there, and the food, atmosphere and service were all great! My partner had a cup of the clam chowder w/ bacon, which was excellent. We ordered two appetizers to share: the lettuce wraps, which came with 4 peanut encrusted, grilled chicken strips, and two yummy sauces for dipping (sesame soy and peanut). I also ordered the chicken strips, which were not your ordinary, frozen variety. They're hand breaded, very crispy and tasted great. One warning - the appetizers are definitely intended for sharing, and are the size of a regular meal. So we ordered way too much food! This is a great place to hang out on a nice day, as the front wall of the restaurant can be opened up to the street.

Would definitely return! Ate here on a Saturday evening and enjoyed sitting near the open windows/doors at the front of the restaurant. Great wine and beer list. Chicken tenders were HUGE and delicious! Some of the best fish tacos we've had anywhere. Service was friendly and attentive.

Service was really good and so were the buffalo chicken wraps. I only stopped in to catch some of the game but I ended up staying until half time. My only gripe is that they serve the water warm...the old milk jars that it is presented in are cute!.... Just warm.

Tried it on a Saturday night around 7:00pm Not too busy. Excellent service from a knowledgeable waitress. Standard fare on the menu, nothing too exciting. One of us had the Cobb Salad and it was quite good. The other had the Summer Vegetable Pasta, and it was quite a disappointment. Barely covered the bottom of the bowl. We did mention our disappointment to the waitress who said she mentioned it to one of the owners, but nothing more forthcoming. Both items were quite expensive for what was offered. Saddest part was on our way out we were walking toward one of the owners (we were told) and he was walking toward us. Completely ignored us. They have a bit to learn.

Wicks Park beats the other contemporary American restaurants / Gastro-pubs in Saugatuck, even those with more history in the area. The veggie burger was by FAR the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant, and I have had a few. Great service as well, even on an epically busy Labor Day weekend Saturday night.

Nice atmosphere, good and friendly service, food is solid but not exceptional. I had the lake perch with fries and coleslaw. First I am a big fan of coleslaw and this was good slaw but it came in the same size cup that the tartar sauce came in. The lake perch tasted great but was a little bit soggy. My wife had the beet salad and an order of mussels. She thought the beet salad was great except for the candied walnuts which were too sweet. As for the mussels she thought they were "solid".

On last saturday night we were not able to get in at Phil's so thought we would give Wicks another chance. They were extremely understaffed and the waitress spent a full 10 minutes telling the people at the next table her life story before coming to our table. I ordered what I thought would be safe, pulled pork. It was completely tasteless, served on a Wonder bun and overpriced. My rather skimpy martini was $11 (better martinis are $8 - $8.50 anywhere in town). Bring back the Boathouse.

Nice new find in Saugatuck. Service was very good, food was solid -- not exceptional but tasty. I had the walleye special, & the portion was generous. Live music was very good but that combined w/ a busy Friday night made for a VERY noisy experience. It was just my husband & me, and we had to shout at each other throughout dinner. That was the biggest drawback.

Very nice restaurant. Didn't eat there but the service and margaritas were great.

What a pleasant surprise after not so good experiences at other "highly recommended" places in town. We weren't expecting much but really enjoyed the Fried Lake Perch Dinner (two of us) the house-made Veggie Burger and what were quite possibly the best-looking Chicken Tenders I've ever seen...real chicken breast beautifully battered and cooked to a dark golden brown, yet still moist. Our waitress was ok, but very friendly and obviously in town for the summer making some bucks as a first-timer. The restaurant itself is nicely laid out with large sliding doors with screens for the outside effect, minus the mosquitos. It's not too loud and ideal for groups because it's so big and has lots of large party options. They also accept reservations which is a nice touch.

Went here twice during my trip. The first time was late night b/c we wanted some ice cream and this was the only place open with dessert at 9:30/10pm. We split the brownie sundae, which was super yummy, it had raspberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, a godiva brownie, and sprig of mint, yum! The second time we went was for an early dinner. I got the fish tacos, which were really good. The salsa was smoky and yummy and the fish was blackened a bit spicy, but great. My friend got the veggie pasta, which he said was good, but the portion was much smaller than the half portion at Marro's and the same price. My other friend got the veggie burger, which she said was really good. She said that whenever a restaurant makes their own burger she always has to try it and was not disappointed this time. The service was eh, the waitress was a little short with us and didn't tend to us as much as we would've liked, but I would go back again. Large dining room and bar, modern decor and great for large groups.

First time customer and will definitely be returning next time in town. Awesome food and great conversation with staff...especially "Frosty". He was charming and entertaining. It's a key place to visit in Saugatuck.

A bit off the beaten path (which in Saugatuck means 1/2 a block), but a great find. The atmosphere is very nice, offering three very different niches including a comfortable couch and chair next to the fireplace, a well laid out and spacious bar area, and a "fine" dinning area. The crowd is amiable, the staff friendly, and the drinks are well poured. As far as the food, I only had an appetizer, clam strips. The bar tender Nate, explained that all their East Coast seafood is delivered fresh to Chicago and driven up the same day, and I believe him. They were a generous portion and my wife and I enjoyed them tremendously (did I mention I'm originally from Cape Cod?). The rest of the food looked good and I heard nothing but compliments from the other diners.
