We stopped in the other day and had a breakfast special. Everything was made to order, the food was served in quick order. The only drawback is the server also has to collect for the bill. Usually not a bother, but this time it was a bit of a bother. Other than that, everything was good!

Good service (Lisa was prompt and polite), but 1/2 the old menu is gone.... Hummus? Really? This is a National Coney Island, right? Where's the cole slaw? Can't even make a Chicago Style dog any more..... Go back to the "old" Coney menu please, whoever is in charge. Don't reinvent the wheel, do what you're good at. Will be back to see if old menu items return.

What happened! !!!!????? The classics have changed. Our waitress just informed us why everything tastes different...in a bad way. Hani is a staple to your name.....dont change anything. Owner passes...son takes over....has bad ideas....sorry to see the demise of this iconic place. Gross! I will not be back...ever. And a good farewell is seeing the manager.... standing with the cooks...wiping his nose on his arm... "I filled those bitches up and walked the line like this!"

The food is really good!?! If you are looking for national Coney food! But the service is poor to put it nicely. I am sure there are some very good young energetic go-getter service staff there. But unfortunately my last three visits I have yet to see that. I mean let's be honest if it wasn't for those beautifully delicious disgusting at the same time chili cheese fries!! I would never come back!!! So back to the service staff!! If you hate your job that much just quit! Don't take it out on others especially patrons of the restaurant you work for! So the two stars solely go to the food and I wish I could give it more stars but the service has just crushed me!! Because I hate giving bad reviews!!! : (

Just got carry out... Got home, the chicken lemon rice tasted and smelled EXACTLY a like cigarettes. I can't explain how disgusting it was. I literally poured it out slowly to look for a cigarette butt. So gross. Won't be back. Hours later update... Just went up to my kitchen and had to empty my garbage because the cigarette stench from the soup container that I emptied hours ago was so intense. I would assume a worker either ashed in my soup, or the whole batch has cigarette butts in it.

We don't usually get good from this location but, now that the 11&gratiot one is closed (late night), we have to go here by default. I would like to say it was comparable, or even good but, it was not. The hot dogs tasted stale, they no longer served spinach pie, we got cheese fries instead of cheese sticks...I'm pretty sure something else went wrong but, I can't recall at the moment..ugh! Never again!

The food is solid and consistent. My faves are the breakfasts and the hanis. Service is usually spot-on. If the sun is down the joint is likely to be filled with drunk idiots which can be annoying, entertaining or both.

I come to this place at least once a week, and I have never had a server I didn't like. About 2am the night following sweetest day, it was ridiculously packed and busy. My server, Jessica, was insanely busy, but was still and absolute sweetheart and got me everything I needed. Left 100% tip at the end of the meal, and if I see her working again, I will Deff be requesting her.

I'm not from the area but I see coney stuff everywhere. The food was okay but the place is way over priced. I wouldn't spend 35 bucks this way again. The chili was so so but honestly Steak 'n Shake is better and cheaper. Not sure if they are around here or not. Not A lot of value here

This location needs an overhaul. The booths are from the 80's and sure show their wear and tear. Odd as the Corp office is a mile away!? Service and mgmt is solid and the food is what you expect, but not a "must have" anymore. Too bad. Leo's is taking their market share quickly.

Terrible. They had no oyster crackers and only told me after I had already ordered my chili. They ended up giving us stale saltines that tasted like they had been sitting on their shelf for 20 years. I also thought this place was dirty and needed a good cleaning. I recommend going to a different Coney Island.

Anyone that can give this place 5 stars knows nothing about food. Sorry.

This location is one of the better ones in the area. I like they have beer here, makes it better than the one on 11 mile. The inside is kinda small but still nice. The food always comes out hot and fresh. Just wish they had more than just beer. I'm more of a liquor fan. But that's okay I guess.

I have been coming here for years. The food is good and pretty consistently prepared which is important to me. I cannot say the same for some of the other National locations. The breakfast is good here and the Chicken Hani is surprisingly good. Some of my bigger friends that I have dined there with complained that the portions were not large enough, but I am normal size and overall very happy.

This is Coney Island that I go to for good Coney. The smoked turkey & bacon sandwich is amazing with its grilled sourdough bread. And the portions are very generous.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite Coney. But this is where most of my high school nights, and Panera Bread paycheck, were spent growing up in Warren. It's not even about the food. The food is "good" in the sense that it's exactly what you expect, well-portioned, and cheap. Coney, to me, is the location of our winter formal pre-dinner. Friday night post-movie dates before curfew. Split hot fudge sundaes (two spoons, please!) and milkshakes in big silver cups. A gathering place after play practice, football games, speech tournaments, spirit week. Fries shared between friends and family. An after-school snack. The place my high-school sweetheart and I called it quits after a wonderful relationship. Coney is a place where the waitstaff knows your name and you'll run into an old friend, or new acquaintance, over a hani. The place where you realize you're dating the line cook. It's one of the first restaurants I remember eating, and the last food I wanted before leaving Detroit's airport for Cairo or my new life in DC. It's a Detroit institution. One that I usually wish I had on my block in DC.

National Coney Island is iconic in Metro Detroit. I have frequent various National Coney Island locations since I was a kid. This location severed my friends and I well while in high school and beyond. Thankfully, all restaurants in Michigan are now nonsmoking. This change greatly improved the atmosphere of this National location. The restaurant is no frills with tasty diner food and quick service. The Coney dogs are still excellent bringing back nostalgic memories with each bite. If Coney dogs or chili are not your thing, the Hani Special is always a solid choice. I look forward to my next visit to Metro Detroit to get my Coney fix!

my favorite national coney island location; relatively mid sized chain of 'diners' unreproducable chili cheese fries, hotdogs, and hani sandwiches. needs to become a franchise so locations can open across the US.

Pretty much all National Coney Island locations are the same, and that includes the service. I've eaten at this location numerous times and it is spacious and presents the average National experience. Pricing stays consistent here and you know what you're going to get, be it cheese fries or sandwiches. The fountain soda at National's seem to always taste better than soda at other chains, but maybe that's just me. Carry out is pretty quick as well. I waited less than five minutes for an order of chili cheese fries, and they provided silverware, a bunch of napkins, pepper and ketchup packets with my order. They never really mess an order up.

Decent coney and fries at reasonable prices. The service is fast and friendly. You don't go here to eat healthy. It's more of a I'm drunk at 3am and need something to coat my stomach type of establishment. It's fun to see what comes through the door after the bars let out.
