They have the most perfectly cooked burger in Michigan. They refilled my son's drink several times, so I disagree with a previous review. The only problem was dessert. I ordered an ice cream sundae, and it was brought to me in a hot bowl with a hot spoon. It was melted by the second bite.

Great neighborhood restaurant and bar! Burgers are great, lots of TVs, and a wide selection of Michigan beers. Service was great- thanks, Sam! We'll definitely be back!

Average place, nice people, good beer selection. Nice average place. However, the monte cristo earns this place a 4th star! Outrageously good. Bowl of French onion soup and the monte cristo and you will take some of it home. Also, the sandwich is not a greasy mess like the be migrants monte cristo was.

Stopped in here recently for a few beers and an app (also had a birthday party here several years ago) and was more than satisfied with their selection of Michigan taps plus the shrimp cargot was awesome! We sat at the bar but the place was relatively sparse for a 4-5 PM visitation on a Sunday afternoon and we were promptly greeted as well as informed of the great beers and limited time offerings they currently carried. Thoroughly appreciate when the 'tender has some tastes that he/ she mentions that might be out of season/ out of stock soon so get it while you can. I'm a bit of a beer adventurer so I was eager to get a taste, which I was easily provided for. I ended up going the IPA route, having the Flying Monkey Smashbomb which was excellent and moving on to the Bell's Hopsoulution IPA, which was also very good. The food, while only shared an app, was very good as well and I would recommend the Shrimp Cargot to anyone. Its like this little, holed platter, six of them, with shrimp sitting in a buttery garlic sauce, covered with cheese and scallions, with a half loaf of bread for dipping. It was real good. Atmosphere is also very cool, very chill. Not pretentious or overbearing and they have a jukebox as well. Would recommend for anyone!

Good, filling entrees served by exceptional wait staff in an environment that is comfortable and lively. We really enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip served with perfectly salted and crunchy tortilla chips. We shared the special of the day: chicken gyro wrap with fries. It is tasty. The iced tea hit the spot on a warm summer day. Good choice for a sports bar. The staff are attentive and friendly. Kudos to the training they receive. Perfect for this type of restaurant. We will be back to try a wider variety of entrees.

4 stars because I'm a fan of their delicious pizza. Its a must try. Everything else on the menu gets a 3 stars. Its ok, nothing special. Wait staff is usually very attentive, nice and knowledgeable on the beer selection.

The sandwich was good - I ordered a 5-Flight of 5 oz beers of basic Founders and Lagunitas and they charged me almost $17. No there was no backstage series or KBS. And then $7 for a snifter of Equinox by Lagunitas. It's $4.99 a 22 oz in the store. I don't mind paying high prices for good beer, I do all the time that's for sure, but their prices were way high we thought for what we got. Cool atmosphere but probably will choose another place to have a few beers when we go out in Oxford.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! The Ox is our go-to place to eat. We are there consistently every Thursday night ordering pizza! I've also taken my girl friends here on a rare girls night out! It's the kind of place where the owner remembers us and goes out of his way to say hi, and where we always request to sit in a certain waitresses section. Great food and great service!

This is really more of a 2.5 star place, but we were there with a big party and our waitress was fabulous so I rounded up. The menu offers a pretty big variety. Here's something you don't see on the menu every day: German potato salad. I didn't have it but someone in our party did. While the food was good, I wasn't blown away by anything. The chicken tortilla soup was very tasty and comforting for a cold winter's day after walking around a Christmas tree farm. Some of the meal choices at our table - pizza (given 2 thumbs up by the kids), fish tacos, a Reuben, steak fajitas, chicken kebabs, and a pasta dish. Like I said, a wide variety of food, and everyone was satisfied but nobody raved about anything. Would I go back - yes, for sure. The waitress was super attentive and everyone was very friendly. It's just not a place that I would crave a certain dish from.

The food is, in a word, heavy. The clam chowder was really nice, but the salad was not fresh, the garnish for the fish and chips was grossly wilted, and the fried food was very greasy (needs to be drained better). I had the fish tacos, which were bland and would be better if the fish were marinated rather than breaded and deep-fried. The beers are on the pricey side, but they have a good selection. There is a nice atmosphere, although it was a little weird that a sports bar had an infomercial for an anti-wrinkle cream on the big screen rather than a game of some sort. Our server was rushed and didn't pay much attention to us. Overall, we found the place mediocre but would be willing to give it another try.

We were all very pleased without selections. I had the panko crusted whitefish, which was on the sweeter side but i really liked it. My meal started with New England clam chowder and was accompanied by zucchini. My wife had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and she seemed pleased. We also had a couple items from the kids menu. Chicken tenders enough said and pizza which was good enough to make us think that next time in we will have to try their wood fired pizza. We will be back to enjoy some more.

Food 4 stars - Service 4 stars Very nice and clean location in Downtown Oxford. We ate the typical Pub food Hamburger and Pizza. Both was really good. We didn't expect that quality and taste. They also have a huge wine and beer selection from extraordinary quality. That's perfect. We are very happy to have a quality Pub like that in our hometown. Ne we will go there much more often.

Have to give The Ox an update. They really deserve great ratings. Their food and service are always top notch. You can tell that the chef and kitchen staff really care about the quality of the food they send out. I eat here with my family at least once a month and the kids love it too. Their bread sticks are wonderful and make a great starter. They also have great apps. Agree with Rachel's assessment of the Spinach & Artichoke dip...but we love the Chili con Queso. The Chicken Rajun Cajun is one of my favorites with their strange but wonderful, sweet then spicy Diablo sauce. But my absolute fave are the fajitas. Funny to say, but their fajitas are so much better than the mexican restaurant next door (Casa Real), which has really gone down hill. In my opinion, the top spot in downtown Oxford. Which is saying a lot because of many great establishments like Red Knapps, 24th Street Tavern (yes, food not as high end but a fun place), Montana's Rib & Chop House, and the great new Burning Oak Smokehouse.

I'm from nowhere near Oxford, but luckily, my BF is and he took me here for a date night. They have an awesome craft beer selection! The menu is rather large and, again, somewhat confusing for a bar/restaurant. They have the standard pub fare, but the specials are trying to go gourmet. Why can't a place stick to one genre and just nail it?? I"ll never understand it. I got a french dip sandwich and fries, and it was very good, albeit the jus was a tad on the salty side (for me). The BF decided to go gourmet and got scallops with some orange sauce and asparagus. The scallops were actually really well cooked, but it just wasn't even enough to fill up a grown man's appetite and the entree was pretty pricey at $17.00. No complaints about the staff, the waitress we had was very sweet and attentive. The bar itself is very large, and we didn't have to wait, even on a Saturday evening, and there is ample parking around so we didn't have to walk far either. Both huge pluses in my book!! I would definitely go back, but really more for that bar feel, not necessarily for a gourmet dinner. /Pubby!!

My husband eats here a lot for lunch during the week, so he thought it would be great place for date night. 5 stars for the hubby! This place from beginning to end was great! The wait for a table was minimal, the food was awesome and our waitress was a sweetheart. We ordered drinks & an appetizer to start. Plus we both got soup with our order and breadsticks too. By the time our dinner came we were already stuffed! I highly recommend the Spinach & Artichoke dip, Chicken Dumpling Soup and the Guinness Stew -- everything was so flavorful and delicious! Dinner was wonderful and I saw a lot of things on the menu that I'd like to come back and try. It didn't hurt that the waitress was really nice, very attentive and hustled! Also, the ambiance is really great for a pub/sports bar type atmosphere. I'd recommend this place to all of my friends - I can't wait to go back! (And that's saying a lot because I live 35 minutes away!)

Nice place. I've only been here once on a date with my wife but the food was great. The service was a bit on the slow side but our meal made up for it. We will be back

The Ox took the place of Jon Marx, an upscale restaurant that was doomed in Oxford. A lot of the decor is left over and it is very inviting. It is now a bar and grill but also very family friendly. The menu is typical fare of burgers and sandwiches, but also has dishes like chicken marsala and rib eye steak. They have a larbe selection of craft beers that change regularly. They also have a decent wine xelection, and I must say thier house wine is very good for a house selection. The food is good. My husband loves the tuna melt. I enjoy the chicken marsala and the penne arrabiata. the staff is always friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable. if you want a decent meal in a great atmosphere at a good price, this is the place for you.

In a little town like Oxford, there's not many places to go to. This place is the place fo sho. The atmosphere is great, they have a lot of these blown glass light fixtures, I totally want one. The bartender, I wished I had gotten her name, very personable and friendly, loved her. They have Final Absolution beer (for those that don't know, my fave). Me and the hubby got the nachos. Really good, but I was not a fan of the chili on them. The bottom chips were all soggy and stuff, but I still ate em. The portion was huge, we didn't even get halfway through. The prices were the norm and it seems as if it's a stop for those to get a pre-drink before they move on elsewhere. I will for sure come back to sample the other goods on the menu. Num-Num!

Great beer selection. Food is typical bar fare but everything we had was excellent. The service was fast, friendly, and excellent as well. The place was busy but it is large. Definitely will stop here again when I am out this way!

I had a one-star experience, but I've only been there once and am hopeful that I caught them on a bad night. Also, it's only fair to point out that the 2 people with me thought there food was ok (but still "not great") Meal: Needs improvement. They put a club sandwich on some fancy bread, added Avocado, and call it 'Club America.' If it has Avocado, it's obviously 'Club California!' :) The ham was so salty I couldn't eat it, and removing the ham did not help the flavor, somehow. The garlic in the mashed potatoes I had on the side was overpowering. Service: Also needs improvement. Our waiter vanished after bringing our food, leaving me with an empty drink for most of the meal! When he came back, I asked for a refill that he promptly got BUT the ice had melted in my glass and he didn't dump it so my Coke was warm and diluted. On the upside, the place was very clean and roomy. There's good parking out back, but I'd use it to visit one of the other establishments nearby!

Great beer choices and decent food. Will go back again for sure. A nice, friendly, sports bar located in the heart of a small town. Great service all around.
