We arrived there late evening. The host sat us in the outdoor dining area. The scenery was beautiful. Very romantic. The appetizer we ordered were the broccoli and cheese and bacon fritters ??? Amazing ! (We were debating between them and the fried pickle Spears) . Thank you to the waiter with the glasses who helped us make a choice. The pizza was very good. I ordered Jalapeño and pepperoni on half cheese on the other half. Usually I have other pizza places cook it an extra couple of minutes and when it arrived I noticed I forgot to tell the waiter to cook it for a longer amount of time; was it a problem ? No, the pizza was perfect. Not undercooked at all with a perfect texture. All in all, I was glad I came here. The waiter was also a delight. Very attentive.

Someone please tell the hostesses that they need to dress much more appropriately for a family style restaurant and not the club. The last 2 times I've been in, the fish has been undercooked. I had them both sent back, and both times they came back still under cooked. I never see a manager out on the floor checking up on things to ask whats going on. This most recent time I got food poisoning. Will not be back for awhile.

Got the Garlic Rosemary Chicken with red skin potatoes and subbed in the garlic mashed potatoes instead of vegetables. The mashed potatoes were the star of the plate. The chicken was a little tough. Also got the homemade potato chips...Great appetizer! A couple bucks overpriced. The burger is huge though with a nice thin bun.

BEST FOOD IN OXFORD!! Every meal has been wonderfully delicious. We especially like the wildcat burger. Occasionally the service leaves something to be desired but the food keeps us coming back. At typical peak times expect to wait.

Best thing is the bread. It took us 25 minutes for a waiter to come get our order and another 40 to get our food. Prices are way to expensive for what you get.

I'd say 3.5 stars. It's actually pretty good food--good pizza & really tasty bread. But the decor is a turnoff and it's oddly dark inside. Even on the sunniest of days. The low light contrasted with the blaring bright TVs every-which-where are an awkward bummer.

This is my second time to Red Knapps, not to be confused with Bill Knapps for all you people out there that weren't zygotes when BK existed. Friday I had a deer head glaring at me. I mean, he was pissed. Our service was great, friendly and it was quiet considering it was 5:30 on a Friday evening. My dinner companion had the deep fried pickles and was ready to do shots of the Ranch. He reported in as being satisfied and filled. He also had the 1 pound burger which he loved. I stuck with my standard small burger, swiss/mushroom combo. The hamburger buns are homemade and yum. It's worth a stop by, especially if you have kids or old people with you.

The hostess(es) were not extremely happy or helpful when we didn't jump at the chance to squeeze or 12 person group into 2 tables... 8 people at a 6 person table But the bartender was great and ended up being our waiter!!! Good was really good!

I've been here a couple times with my in-laws, and what can I remember from my very first visit to Red Knapps with them? That bun! It's homemade and might I say that it's heavenly?! I ordered the BBQ Burger and thought it was delicious, but that bun really sets their burger apart from other restaurants that do burgers. I don't know how else to explain it, you just need to try it for yourself. The food was good, service was good, and there wasn't a wait at all to get seated. It was pretty full inside but there's quite a bit of seating in the place. Definitely want to go back before I leave MI in 2 weeks, and know if that happens, I'm ordering a burger for that amazing bun!

I frequented the Red Knapps in Rochester for years. I love their cheeseburger, plain. The hamburger is always well seasoned and the bun is unlike any other. This one in Oxford does not disappoint. The burgers are just as good as the original plus they have a full menu of items including pizza, pasta, fish, and steaks. The atmosphere is lodge style with hunting trophies on the walls. While this isn't my style, it appeals to many. While I normally get the cheeseburger, I have also branched out into the pizza, steak, and ribs. All of which are nicely prepared. My wife generally prefers the fish or pasta. My kids get the Mac and cheese (my daughter's favorite, although it seems like Krafts to me) or chicken strips which seem to me to be a bit over breaded. All in all a nice local family place.

Very prompt and friendly service. A wide variety of choices and the pizza was outstanding. A slightly sweet sauce, a chewy crust and a nice cheese blend.

The bread basket they bring here is amazing. Everything I've tried on the menu has been high quality, fresh and homemade tasting. Their ranch is the best around. All around great restaurant.

Service was horrible. Fries were cold. Had to call the manager to get mustard and ketchup. Never got a refill on our sodas. No apologies. No more Red Knapp's. Too bad. Use to like the place.

Overall I am pleased with our experience at this restaurant. For anybody who doesn't know, they do not accept reservations. We went with a larger party and called ahead. They said they would try and save a table but it didn't work out. Good food. Great atmosphere. Saw reviews beforehand and saw a lot of mentions of the ranch. It's homemade ranch that tasted like you would expect. I got the fried fish and was pleased with it. We came at a busy time on a Friday night and service was pretty good for being so busy. Would definitely visit again.

On a positive note, they have great pizza and if you hit a night where the pizza is the special, then bonus. But if you're just looking for a burger or sandwich, keep walking down the street to Oxford Tap. None of the burgers or sandwiches at Red Knapp's come with fries, which is rather unheard of. So, if you want a handful of fries with your burger or sandwich, it will run you an additional $2.19...$3.99 if you'd rather have onion rings...on top of the $8-$9, or higher if you create your own, burger. The food was good, but not THAT good. Sorry, but I doubt that we will be back.

Love the burgers. I put 3 stars only because the service hasn't always been great when visiting but this time it was much better. The waitress was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed.

I don't understand why everyone loves place. The menu is very limited and if you don't get pizza or burger there's nothing left to choose.

First experience was a lunch date. We shared pizza. Sat surrounded by animal heads. Nothing spectacular. Except the rolls. Second experience was with a group from work in the back room. Not going to lie, we overstayed our welcome. Stayed until closing. However, our service ended way earlier. Our server was "cut" (restaurant lingo for: I want to get the F out of here so hurry up and pay ladies) shortly after we ordered our food. Our service was discontinued and our visit rushed. So we stayed, of course. We had to hunt for someone to refill our drinks. The manager kept adjusting the heat. The food was mediocre at best when you consider the total of my bill. Again, nothing spectacular. Except the rolls. The next time someone suggests Knapps, I'm going to recommend ordering a take out container of their rolls and cook at home.

We were passing through and stopped here on a Sunday for lunch. It was busy, nice atmosphere-a little dated, lots of animal heads. We had a burger and a Mac and cheese entree. Neither one was great. And the difficult thing was we watched our kids meal and burger sit in the open window (which is very visible to tables) for a LONG time before the Mac and cheese finally came out, and even then the food sat for way too long while our waitress and someone seeming to be the manager fiddled with the computer. It was frustrating and as a result the burger was no longer hot. The bun tasted stale, i did not finish it. I was underwhelmed.

We were visiting in the Oxford area and this place was recommended so we gave Red Knapps a try for a casual dinner. It had the potential to be great but it was just OK. I think they might have gotten a fourth star from this reviewer, but the burger I ordered medium rare was delivered well done. That killed that fourth star. I hate it when they precook the burgers and as an expedient to the preparer, and the customer's request gets completely ignored. Well tonight my request got ignored. The burger had nice fresh tomatoes and shredded lettuce and it tasted "OK", but it probably would have tasted a lot better if hadn't been cooked well done. I probably should have sent it back, but I didn't want to inconvenience the rest of the party. If we go back, and we might, I think I will need to make it absolutely clear when I order that a well done burger will be rejected on delivery. The cook had to know this was not as ordered and the waiter could have made sure I got what I ordered too. Should I have made this only two stars? But even with the burger issue, the sandwiches, onion rings and fries were pretty good. The onion rings were nice and hot and cut very thick. The service was fine as was the look and feel of the restaurant itself. Our server was friendly and attentive and it didn't take long to be waited on or served.

Okay so here's what I love about Red Knapps: 1. Their bread is amazing! Always fresh and tasty *** Please see #4 2. PIZZA!!! ***Please see #4 3. They have THE BEST BURGER EVER. Seriously anyone who complains about it must have just had it on an off night. I literally crave the Knapp Burger. 4. THEIR RANCH!!! Homemade and completely out of this world. I would call myself a ranch lover and I could literally dip anything in it. Especially *** their bread and their pizza.

I've been to Red Knapps a handful of times in the past year, and it's decent. No wow factor to write about though. The food is decent at best. I haven't had the burgers everyone is raving about, but I have had their white fish dinner a couple of times and it was pretty good. The service has been good, and the hot bread they bring to the table for dinner is good as well. Maybe next time I'll get one of their burgers. I wouldn't not go here, it just didn't have any umphf.....I like umphf :)

I hadn't been to Red Knapps in a long time. I'm not from the area. I went on a Friday night and while the place was packed, it didn't take long to be seated. Our order was taken promptly and the home made bread is as good as advertised. I got the Bar-B-Q Burger. Great Fries and the burger was very good and very big. The others in my party got the Fettuccine and all were very happy. Our waitress Carly was great, not an empty glass at our table throughout the service. Great decor unless you are a PETA card carrying member. Well worth the trip.

If you are looking for pizza or hamburgers this is the place to go. They have lots of other good stuff too. They have been there a long time. The owners go back to the 1930s.

I went to Knapps growing up my whole life and I have to say they have a very wide variety. The burgers and sandwiches are served on this weird kind of hybrid bun/eglish muffin, but somehow it works. The cajun one with ranch dressing is really good. OH, and speaking of their Ranch Dressing....HOMEMADE and SO good. It takes a lot for me to like ranch, and this place has it down. Their other dishes are hit or miss I feel. The pasta is sometimes good, sometimes no so. The bred is always delicious though. The wait can get really crazy, even though they have a ton of tables. The parking area is out back and pretty small, so if you can't find a spot chances are you won't get a table....

It took us Three times of dining in here to realize that every time was either a waste of calorie intake or we left hungry. It reminds me of a phrase a friend has said about the people in hollywood,"Try hard Retards" Yeah that may offend you, but there food offended me more than that phrase could ever offend. It is so sad that can not get there act together, but I would rather eat at a fast food chain or starve then to bother with this place. I hope you don't waste your time here. Or maybe they will read this and want to improve on the food and service. On example is they had gazpacho soup this last summer (Aug'08) it had chopped tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers with canned tomato sauce and loads of awful Italian dressing. very odd indeed.

Even though we now live in California, we still miss visiting Red Knapp's. The burgers are about the best I have ever had. They bake all their bread products, including the giant burger buns. Each burger seems to have been hand-pressed and cooked with individual attention. Add some fries and a chocolate shake and you are all set. The waitstaff is excellent. So excellent, in fact, that I married one of the waitresses who worked there. Rustic decor but a homey feel. Eat alone or bring a big group. Wish we could visit regularly!

My parents are huge fans of this place, but I only get to go when I come home from Seattle for a visit. With my limited experience, I can confidently say that the Knapps burger is the dish of choice. It's one of the best burgers I've had, and I've eaten all the way from one coast of the country to the other.

Mmmm. I think my family has been coming here all my life. But for some reason as a child I never wanted to come here. I think I was probably frightened by the decor, animal heads everywhere..Yikes. It still kind of turns me off. But the food here is amazing. Pizza is awesome, probably some of the best you will find in the area. You can't go wrong with any of the pasta dishes either, they are very tasty. They are famous for their burgers , but I don't think I've ever tried one. The absolute best part about thing about this place is the bread. Fresh baked garlic bread served to your table right from the oven. It comes with most entrees but if you don't order something that comes with it I would highly recommend putting in an order. One thing that I always forget about every time I come here is that their water tastes really weird. I always forget until I take a sip and then have to order a soda to get the strange salty taste out of my mouth. Overall I think this is probably one of the best restaurants in Oxford.

Burger is o.k. If you want good cooking keep going. Just about the only place in town except for fast food, chinese and a couple of bars.

If you've not had a Red Knapp's burger, then you deserve to treat yourself to the best treat Oxford has to offer. It's a huge, moist, well seasoned burger served on a flat sour-dough type bun. Mmmm, mmmm good! Well stocked bar to keep your spirts up too.
