This place is extremely tasty. The service is great. Atmosphere typical upscale. For what we paid (see the Prentice website for a coupon for buy one dinner get one free up to 28.00) it was easily a five and a total steal. If I were ponying up the big prices for it, it would only be a four because of two reasons. 1- I am just cheap as hell. 2- The menu is fairly predictable. If I had more money I might make this a regular-ish stop and be less picky but that is just not my reality. You need to get the morel mushroom bisque here, period. Creamy, earthy, rich and evil. My fungi hater husband equally enjoyed the crab and brie bisque, very nice stuff but I much preferred mine. They are seven and eight bucks respectively but are better than a two buck add on salad in my opinion. You won't regret it. The menu here is pretty standard upscale steakhouse. Nothing too out there or innovative, strictly classic or merely tweaked a bit. There are no ingredient combinations that will wow you enough to force you to order them. I think they could punch it up a notch or two for the rates they charge. I do need to come in sometime with my mom though and get some rarely seen steak tartare prepared tableside (damn you Wayne C for starting that craving LOL). Do not get me wrong though, what they do offer here, they do very well indeed. My husband is wise and ordered the 14oz strip steak medium rare. Steaks here are incredible. The strip is great as is but also happy with the chosen bearnaise (you can also opt for zip or horseradish). Spendy at 39 bucks but enjoyed at any rate. I liked my 32 dollar 8oz medium rare filet but not nearly as much as his strip. I preferred my morel mushroom sauce add on though. My steak was more tender but his had much better flavor. His surprisingly also seemed a bit more consistently cooked than mine. We split a side of gorgonzola au gratins which were very tasty but serious overkill after the rich soups. I let James eat most of them. At this point my arteries were begging for mercy, careful of that here. Deliciousness through copious amounts of fat, mmmm fabulous. The idea of dessert was laughable. We were too stuffed. I will be back but probably on someone else's dime or with another coupon as this is out of my usual price range. I must reserve my splurges for trying new spendy places as they are a rare-ish treat.

I would like to tell you all about an amazing night I had recently while exploring the culinary taste of Novi' finest dining. However that would not be the truth, in fact far from it. I made the mistake of assuming the amount of $$$$ listed by a restaurants name granted me the wisdom of a five star experience. I now realize this is a fantasy that I will no longer indulge in thanks to the Novi Chophouse or should I say the Novi Slophouse!!! The $45 steak I had was shamefully over cooked and I was surprised at the salad that preceded it. We specifically asked the waiter about the cooking accuracy of the chef before deciding on the temp and we were assured the staff were spot on. This could not be further from the truth. In fact we were served a well done fillet at best. Seriously upset at waisting our time and money on such a disaster. So to my surprise when we expressed our frustration we were given you guessed it two free appetizer cards. As if we would ever come back to this sham of a steakhouse. I was so angry I left the insulting free gift cards for the waiter in hopes they would realize we intend to never repeat this mistake again. Went next door to a dance club and ordered a $20 steak that was far better than this mess...

The boy and I came here for dinner to celebrate his 25th birthday, before heading over to the Redford for "Jay & Silent Bob Get Old". We'd heard some wonderful things about the place and had been wanting to check it out. We also wised up and checked out the Frequent Diners Program ahead of time, and learned that, at No.VI Chophouse during the months of March & April, Frequent Diners got 25% off their bill on Fridays and Sundays! Being that it was a Friday we were dining there, we lucked out! The place was almost completely empty when we walked in. It was a little odd to get to because you walk in through outer doors that say "No.VI Chophouse," but then you're inside the hotel - then you go around a weird partition wall and into the restaurant. All the while, you're smelling chlorine from what I assume is an indoor pool. Luckily, the smell does not waft into the restaurant. Being a Californian, I LOVE that smell, but I don't think I want it intermingling with a fine dining experience! We were seated immediately for our 530pm reservations. The tables near the front are set up in an interesting manner - you're facing outward, no matter what (the boy said that the place must've been designed by someone in the mob, lol). The place is dimly lit, and rather pretty, I might add. I started with the crab & brie bisque (YUM YUM YUM), & the boy started with the spinach and bacon salad, which he loved. I went with the 8oz filet for my entree, and he went for the 14oz NY strip. We opted for the steamed broccoli, lobster mac & cheese, and garlic whipped potatoes for sides, since we couldn't narrow it down any further than that. Everything was DELICIOUS. My filet was cooked perfectly and was melt-in-your-mouth tender. For dessert, the boy had some sort of peanut butter mousse sort of thing which was served in a chocolate cup, which he adored. I had the chocolate lava cake. Both amazing. Definitely worth the trip for a special occasion dinner. The place is definitely spendy - I spent about $150 with tax/tip, after the 25% off (& that's WITHOUT alcohol). Loved the place, and we'll be back!

This place is now a favorite...especially for steak! From the time you pull up at valet the service is top notch. The server comes to the table just enough... The place itself is very elegant. It's intimate, with just the right lighting, and the seating is perfect. The U shaped booths are nice and comfortable...with plenty of room. It also has plenty of bar space with TVs. Pleasing music played the whole time. The food is superb...pricey, but well worth it. It's prepared perfectly. The sides are enough for 2-3 people. They had very fresh salads and a great variety of choices on the menu, including an extensive wine list. The steak melts in your mouth, is cooked to perfection according to your specification, and seasoned nicely. It's tender and juicy, some of the best I have ever had. The carrot cake is to die for...moist with creamy icing. Not too sweet...

Disappointing. Food was good, but not excellent - and for these prices, I expect better than good. Service was slow... which is normally not something I complain about... I enjoy a leisurely romantic meal with my husband, especially at an upscale restaurant like this. However, the staff didn't check on us to see if we needed anything. We wanted to order something else to drink, but never got that opportunity. Not to mention the fact that I "had to go" during the whole meal, so when they brought our food, we decided to skip the champagne and just eat and get out of their ASAP so that I could get some relief. Ambience was lacking. Apparently "black" is their motif. I didn't know black was a motif. But the restaurant was similar to being in a cave. In fact, it was so dark, that I saw two separate people on two separate occasions, walk right into a mirrored wall. Decor was cheesy. We were seated at a tiny with cheesy banquet chairs that were draped in fabric to cover them, because otherwise, they probably would have had to have been thrown out otherwise. Our table was right next to a doorway, and the traffic was annoying. It was too tight Several people stepped on our table cloth, nearly knocking down our drinks. A couple of people also stumbled over the fabric they had draped over our chairs. I was also disappointed that we'd made reservations and wanted a booth, but got stuck at this dinky little table crammed between a wall and a very narrow walkway. Bathroom?!?! Seriously?! You had to go out into the hotel to use the restroom. Which was a shocking experience, going from an extremely darkened room to a bright common hallway with drunken wedding guests screaming along to "Sweet Caroline." The bathroom was disgusting. Water(?) all over the floor. A toilet had overflowed. No sign warning me that there was a man in the bathroom before I went in. I rounded a corner and was shocked to find myself toe to toe with a guy replacing toilet paper -- which had run out in most of the stalls. It appeared that a toilet or two in the corner had overflowed, but nobody was attending to that. I chose to hold it for the rest of the meal and stop at a (much cleaner) gas station to relieve myself after dinner. Yes, it was THAT bad. I called to complain, but couldn't get a live person. I finally left a message, but nobody ever returned my call.

I have been living in Novi for 7 years and did not hear about this place until I saw a groupon about 6 months ago. This is the best steakhouse I have dined at. I had the Beef Wellington and my girlfriend had the Filet. Both were cooked exactly how we ordered and had great flavor. Those were good but not the reason for the 5 stars. That honour goes to the Crab Brie Bisque, is by far the best Bisque I have ever eaten to date. The only negative is the cost, even with the groupon i think $50 to spend. Our bill was north of $100. With that said, I have been back there and will be back again without a groupon.

I have been going to the Novi Chop House for years, from its original location inside the Hotel Barronette to its current location inside the new Crown Plaza Hotel. The atmosphere is dark and classy. The staff is friendly and professional to the highest degree. Some colleagues and I went to the chop house on Monday night and had another excellent meal. The bread is hot, fresh and served with your drinks. Speaking of drinks, they pour a nice glass - not watered down or stingy. The bar area is long with comfy stools and also a seating area for smokers. The rest of the place is nicely appointed with glass separating the smoking/bar area from the main part of the restaurant. My personal picks: get the fresh Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Sashimi appetizer to start with. Also, the prawns are HUGE and super delish, don't miss ordering a few of them as they are sold by the piece. Then the cowboy steak with their awesome onion rings and sautéed mushrooms - I don't know that I've ever had a tastier steak than their cowboy steak. A side of asparagus with parmesan is always nice and they sure make a mean Manhattan :). I've never had a bad meal here. In fact, I don't think I've ever experienced any disappointment here at all. The cuts of meat are awesome and every dinner that we have ordered has been superb. I recommend the Novi Chop House to anyone looking for a night to remember or to enjoy fine dining for any occasion.

I liked the social friendly crowd. The food was good. It is a bit quiet and dark but well worth trying.

Getting a reservation for a weekday dinner was very easily done through open table on the day of the meal. Dim lighting makes for a very fancy atmosphere to dine in. Waiter that served my table was very friendly and personable. Calamari Frites were the appetizer of choice. These looked like chicken fingers but were just fried calamari with options of cocktail sauce and some iteration of horseradish sauce. Would definitely recommend this option. Order 3 sides with my main course: Au Gratin, Broccoli Trees, and Mac and Cheese. These are large sides, would not recommend more than two for a two person dine-in. In fact with an average appetite, I would say a main course with appetizer was more than enough. That being said, my friend and I were ambitious so it is certainly not for the faint of heart (our waiter was impressed). The broccoli trees were quite large, two large stalks were plated for us. The au gratin was OK, but the mac and cheese was the most delicious of the three we got. The main course selected for me was the Steak Au Poivre. Personally I did not prefer the sauce on the steak, but I had it cooked rare and with a little salt and pepper, it tasted fantastic. More than filling, especially with all the sides and appetizer we ordered. Overall, fantastic and high quality establishment.

Best steakhouse in the area. Nice relaxing atmosphere. High quality meets and great service. I had to hold off on the five star since the restaurant is the first floor of a hotel. I would recommend this place to my friends.

Very disappointing experience, cannot believe this place is still in business, first had to tolerate a screaming kid, had to send back my filet 2 times as I guess a high end place cannot cook a steak well done, dining companion had to send his steak back 3 times! Unacceptable at this caliber. They are unable to cook a steak well done unless u order it butterfly. This has happened several times. Much cheaper and better alternatives that won't empty your whole bank account for dinner.

Elegant yet subdued atmosphere. Always wonderful food. There was a negative comment regarding the dim lighting. We think the lighting is perfect for a relaxing dinner.

My husband and I went to Novi Chophouse last night for our Anniversary. The filet was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Cooked medium-rare to perfection. Honestly I can't understand why someone would order a filet any other way. We had whipped potatoes and the fried sprouts as sides which were both very very good. I've seen some negative postings about the dim lighting but I really liked the atmosphere! It gave it a more intimate feel. We'll be back!

Really wanted to love this place, but I didn't Would have rated it 2.5 stars if I could, but the Morel Mushroom Bisque pushed my review to a 3 stars. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel the restaurant is located in is a little run down. Fine on the inside, but looks sketchy on the outside. Restaurant decor is circa 1990. Dark wood, turquoise lamps and glass tiles. Service was good, not great. Attentive, but a little flaky. Food was also good, not great. I started with the Morel Mushroom Bisque which was delicious. Highly recommended. Was the highlight of the night. Entree was the Steak au Poivre. Preparation and cognac & mushroom sauce was quite tasty. Meat was ordered medium and came out as such. What detracted from the dish was the fact the steak was luke warm and the quality of the mean was sub-par. If people are raving about the quality of the beef here, they don't know quality. The New York Strip was fatty and tough. Not sure I will be back.

This continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in our area. Mushroom bisque to die for. Steaks always tender and very good. The sourdough bread rivals the best of San Francisco. Great wine list. Wait staff with an excellent attitude and service to match!

Decided to try a new place for Father's Day, so tried Novi Chop House. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The service was slow and arrogant. The Merlot and Cabernet were clearly outdated. My son's filet had to be sent back twice. (This is a high-end steak restaurant!) The worst part is that our server never once apologized. On the positive side, the salmon, foie gras and salad was good. If one wishes to spend this amount of money for a destination dinner, there are clearly better options in the area.

Good....not great. In all honesty, the price does affect the rating. I don't mind paying these prices for extraordinary food but this was not it. The filet was good, not great. I've had a filet just as good at Outback for a third of the price. The Caesar salad was a no frills, mass produced salad that you could get at a coney island. I disagree with previous posters about the ambiance......it is perfect, the small sections, dark lighting is intimate and simple in today's world where restaurants are loud, themed carnivals. The two things that stood out were the scallops that accompanied the filet; they were amazing, some of the best I've ever had. The other was the wine list, which was expansive and interesting. Again, it's not that this place wasn't good.....it just wasn't great, which it needs to be at these prices.

My boyfriend and I came in for dinner tonight and had a fantastic experience. Our server Sam was exceptional with vast knowledge of the menu, and took very good care of us. Relaxing atmosphere. Best steakhouse around.

Soooooo stuffed!!! Went for a steak and devoured it like a true carnivore . Burp!!! We sat in a half moon booth, not our fave way to dine together-- we like to stare across the table. So, I would ask for a reg. booth next time. Also, it's awkward to stare across the aisle at another couple staring back at you. Lol Mushroom soup was delish!!! Soooo yummy. Ny strip was cooked to perfection. Nice crisp flavorful crust on the outside and perfectly warm red on the inside. It cut like butter and melted in you mouth. Once the steak came, I didn't say another word to my husband... Just mmmm'd and ooohhhh's over every bite . I didn't care for the zip sauce but the horseradish sauce was perfect. Ordered Mac cheese and roasted asparagus as our sides, but I barely touched the because I was into the steak. Lol. The sides are enough for 3-4. Hubs filet was as good as the NY. Hubs also had the Caesar salad and toughly enjoyed it. Next time I would get a steak and Caesar salad. We got a creme brûlée and our sides to go and rolled ourselves out of there. Service was great from start to end. Brent, our server, was old school waiter and we truly appreciated his laid back relaxed, yet attention to detail personality.

Been coming to this restaurant since it's inception. I always try to enjoy the food, it is a dark atmosphere so it is hard to really enjoy the area and your companions. The food is hit or miss on its quality. For the price, I would say average. The items should be more above average to excellent based on the location and pricing. Service seems to always disappoint and to quote another review, the staff seems stuffy. They could get so much more repeat business if they made all patrons feel more welcome. Unless of course that is their strategy, average food with average service. Success then!

  • Crystal C.

Me and my husband have been here a few times before before we realized that; we keep coming back for a reason. Well because they are very generous with their sides that accompany the meal and the fact you order any of the a la cart sides which also can be shared it's plenty. The food is good sides are all really good ( yes we have tried them all) but mac and cheese is awful not creamy and cheesy very bland , however the au gratin potatoes are the best I do agree roasted Brussel sprouts are a bit to burnt tasting, steaks are good lamb was delicious short ribs were great! They also make this lobster pot pie a must try very tasty

Staff had a slight stuck up attitude--perhaps they think it is a five star establishment in Paris. Only one menu was provided for two patrons. Waiter was visibly upset that I did not order a drink. Food was fine--nothing special and definitely not reflective of the high price. Menu leads one to believe the entre does not have accompanying starch or vegetables. Hence one orders side dishes only to discover starch and vegetables do come with the entre--deceptive. Atmosphere was subdued and quite relaxing.

I stayed at the hotel one night and wanted a small snack and quick drink before going to bed. We sat at the bar which was open till 10:30 pm on a weeknight which was nice. The ambience of the restaurant is dark and quiet but the dim lighting is intimate. The Foie Grois starter is absolutely amazing. One of the best pieces of food I ever tasted. The mushroom bisque was also flavorful and filling. I had a cherry berry sparkler to drink which was a little pricey but gave me enough alcohol content for the price. I recommend it for a nice night cap. Very delicious and classy.

Worst experienced ever! My group of friends and I had the worst server JEFF. He wasn't intuitive and lack customer service. On top of bad experience our food wasn't good. He didn't even care to ask how our food taste. Overall we didn't enjoy the restaurant food and service.

The wine list has been vastly improved! Some wonderful domestic and international selections to pair with month watering entrees. So are you foie gras lover? The foie gras fig appetizer will blow your mind! If a Monet painting had a taste, it would taste like this.

It was a last-minute decision to come here, after a visit to Twelve Oaks Mall. Located in the Crowne Plaza hotel, the parking lot and hotel surroundings were well-worn. Clearly, the hotel had seen its better days. Within the restaurant, the hostess and waitstaff were warm and accommodating. The restaurant was filled with regulars; loud conversations and hearty laughter added a happy vibe. The restaurant featured typical steakhouse fare, although with a few clever, creative twists. I went old school with Beef Wellington for my entrée. Who serves Beef Wellington anymore? So happy! A small filet, medium, and mushrooms were wrapped in pastry dough and sat in (and became soggy from) a delicious port wine demi-glace that was rich with flavor. Mushroom caps with pearl onions, carrots, cauliflower, and green beans were an unfortunate bland accompaniment to the meal. The baked potato with sour cream, grated white cheddar, bacon, and green onions was below average. For dessert, I tried the 7-layer vanilla layer cake with chocolate Bavarian cream (similar to marjolaine) - it was amazing although we could not figure out the underlying flavor. Almond? The bread was tangy and came with whipped butter served in a chilled bowl. It was a wonderful detail that created a favorable impression. In all, the meal was uneven. There were definite high-points but also surprising low-points from a feted restaurateur and restaurant group known for bringing forth innovation in Michigan.

Wife and have lived in Northville for 12 years and this is out first experience at the No Vi Chophouse. Upon arrival there is valet, which I don't use as we were in my 662 HP Mustang. Parking and the overall appeal of the restaurant is not good and the lot and road leading in is a mess and restaurant is located in a hotel. When you get to the actual restaurant the feel quickly changes and feels extremely high class! They tried seating us in the back, which would typically be fine but the wall backed up to the hotel pool area and you could hear kids screaming. We have three kids and this was a rare night without them, we did not want to hear kids! So they moved us, which was greatly appreciated. On to the food. All can say is wow, just delightful! We had the sea scallops appetizer which was cooked to perfection. Then Morel soup, this truly was the best soup I've ever had! We shared the chiefs special, 8 oz filet and lobster, it was again cooked to perfection and delicious. To end, our waiter was professional, attentive and polite. No Vi chophouse is what a steak house should feel like, that is after you get in the door :)

Let me start by writing that I am a fan of the Epicurean Chain of restaurants and expected to be blown away by wonderful prime steaks. It was my son's birthday and we brought in a cake to celebrate. The food was "uneven". The deconstructed wedge salad was ok but the crab bisque was excellent. The steakhouse sides were not very good; spinach drowning in cream, asparagus well steamed but with a congealed topping of cheese? and a baked potato with something on the skin that made it taste odd. The steaks were fine. My father thought that his fillet was not as tender as the one he had at Outback but my son loved his New York strip. My Cowboy Ribeye was just a touch over-cooked for medium rare but was very well seasoned. The zip sauce was very good. The restaurant is expensive and I thought it rather unseemly that, after spending $250 on a meal, that I was charged $10 to plate the cake. Really? Overall, the meal was good. But, why return when there are many better steakhouses in the area?

Wonderful upscale restaurant in the Greater Detroit area! No VI Chophouse is one of those places I've heard about because of their steak, so I thought I'd give it a try. The place itself is very warm and reservations are absolutely impossible to come by. (Yelp tip - Make reservations days in advance!) The wait staff was great but they were a bit serious. It's all business for them. The place is very warm and is ideal for birthdays, dates, and special occasions. Their menu has many options but the prices are a tad high, though I get its upscale. After hearing about the steaks, I knew I had to order one. I ordered up the King of Steaks, the 14oz NY Strip ($39). The girlfriend ordered the Duck Breast ($35), and we ordered an appetizer of Petite Lobster Tails. The Lobster tails were a nice little appetizer. The petitie lobster tails were taken out of their shell and were sauteed and lightly fried. The chunks of lobster meat were extremely tasty, though the portion was a tad small for the price ($20). It was served on a bed of whipped potatoes that complemented it much better than I thought. The potatoes themselves were very good. The NY Strip was absolutely wonderful. Perfection on a plate. I had it cooked a cool medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The steak melted along the knife as you cut through it and the taste was incredible. The sheer size of the steak was a sight and it really fills you. (What else should I expect from a nearly 1 pound piece of meat?) The steak comes accompanied with a zip sauce that reminds me of a chimichurri sauce (olive oil, spices, peppers, and such) but much more mild. The steak was easily the best part. The duck breast was nice but it was a tad dry. Duck Breast is wonderful when it is cooked medium rare, but my girlfriend was skeptical of having poultry cooked that way so she got it medium-well. (Probably why it was so dry). The meat was tasty and it worked really well with the sauce in which accompanied it. The skin was crisp and the thin layer of fat really helped it as well. Wonderful restaurant. Definitely worth going to if you haven't yet. The prices are a bit high but there's not denying the quality of the food.

Wow! This place is amazing! They seriously make the best steak in metro Detroit. I'm a filet kind of guy and I've never had a better one. Actually, it was so good I asked our waiter to send out the chef so I could let him know to keep up the great work. Chef Andy is now my favorite chef in town!

Our group very much enjoyed our food; all steaks. The sides were also very good, especially the Gorgonzola Au Gratin Potatoes. The Fried Brussel Sprouts were very over-cooked, though... So pretty much tasted burnt. We also enjoyed our drinks from the bar and the wine selection was reasonable. The ambiance was a bit too dark for my preference... I actually felt it difficult to see well!

Sold 4 stars - teetering on 5. Decided to try this place as I had been to it's location years past at it's old location and wanted to sample more adventurous wares. I had a cold, so I knew I wasn't going to waste my time ordering a steak when I probably couldn't get it's "full flavor" due to congestion and all the other wonderful things thtat come with being sick. My waiter, Matt, was professional yet fun. He helped "talk me into" the pork belly appetizer that I was a bit afraid to take the plunge on when there were so many great options like crab cakes available - but I did... and it was phenomenal. Thanks for putting a new "favorite" on my foodie-list. I selected the Morel Bisque soup which is thick and filling but tasted delicious and unlike anything I've had prior. I strongly suggest opting for the soups over a side-salad even with the difference in price-points as (speaking from the soup end) they appear to be well worth it. For my main course, I chose the gnocchi dish. It was filling without being a HUGE portion. Just what I was looking for. I was glad to see that a steak house took as much pride in their NON-STEAK dishes. The wine selection here is nice as well and I was able to select a malbec I enjoyed before I left as I was seriously too stuffed for dessert. I do hope to come back to sample a steak dinner in the near future, I predict it will not disappoint and will result in a 5 star experience. P.S. Some have noted how the location is located inside of a hotel - yes, it is. I look at it from a different perspective. Rather than being upset that I have to spend a 20 second forgettable walk through a "lobby" area, I am excited to see a nice place attached to a hotel. I stay too many places where the hotels have not-so-great dining experiences because they assume guests will still come there anyways out of convenience. I would come here even as NOT a guest.

Mt first visit to this establishment and I was not impressed. Had the Maryland lump crab cakes which were small and not much taste. I also had the Mac and cheese with candied bacon. Had to send it back not hot. .. barely warm, was not creamy, very liquidy and the only cheese treated was what was on top. . The place was too dark, I guess in purpose so you can't see the quality of food coming out. Upon my next at the Crown Plaza I hope I not too tired to go elsewhere. .. Was not really impressed.

Pros: Outstanding service. Just what I would expect from a (former) Prentice restaurant. Sam was our server and he was just great. Very personal and pleasant. Informative and attentive. Party ordered two filet mignon and one braised ribs. We had a hot plate special for appetizer and I had the lobster and brie bisque. EVERYTHING was perfect. The hot plate appetizer included 1 crab, lobster mashed taters and portobello mushrooms. Both steaks cooked exactly to order and very flavorful. Sides of potatoes were very good. The lobster and brie bisque was by far the best soup I have ever had, Lots of flavor and it came out very hot. Loved the entire meal. Cons: This is where you have to decide just how much a meal is worth. I say this place is way overpriced for dinners. I do not plan on going back in the near future simply because I cannot afford it. The happy hour menu in the bar looks like it could be affordable so that may be an option.

Ooooh .... this place makes me happy. I don't come here very often, but when I do the place never disappoints. Don't skip the mushroom bisque. It's lovely. It's more mushroomy than creamy, but completely worth the $7. I also enjoy the caesar salad. It's a bargain at $2. The dressing is homemade and delicious, but the one lonely sardine sitting on top of the salad in kind of pathetic. If you like sardines (and I do), say so up front. Last time I was there, I ordered Pan Roasted Sea Scallops. When I saw how caramelized and brown the outside of the scallops were, I figured they had to be overcooked. Boy, was I wrong. The scallops were PERFECTLY cooked and absolutely delicious. The scallops were nestled in a sweet pea risotto with house-made pancetta.. In my humble opinion, the risotto was a bit too salty, but otherwise, the dish was delicious. The service is solidly, dependably good. The atmosphere is sophisticated. It's a great place for a romantic evening. (Here's hoping my hubby is reading this!)

One of the top upscale restaurant in Novi. It's known for its steak and prime rib, but the dinner sides are extras ordinary. The scalope potatoes with garganzo cheese, lobster rossitto with black truffles, and pan roast brussel sprouts with goat cheese were all wonderful. I also had salmon, it was cooked well, but the sides were better. I also start with the morel bisque and as advertised it was worth having. The place is a little dark, lots of drapes, and for a Thursday night, I think there was 5-6 groups of people dining. Bring your credit cards and make sure you have available credit. Btw - a very nice wine selection.

Food was incredible. I had the Steak Au Poivre and the boyfriend had the Duck Breast. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and the brussel sprouts. All was delish, except for the duck was a bit too salty for me...but he liked it so ain't no big thang. The ONLY gripe I had about this place (the reason it gets three stars) is the freaking location. You get all cute and ready for a fancy schmancy dinner and immediately after entering the door, you get slapped in the face with chlorine fumes. You sit down and can hear children in the hotel lobby running around. It brought the scale of this restaurant down a couple notches in my book. That's the last thing I want to encounter when we're spending $200 on a date night dinner. I will probably go back if Groupon offers another deal (that I missed out on the first time), but other than that, I will probably find myself somewhere else.

This is an excellent steakhouse. I had 2 recent uninspiring experiences at Capital Grille and J.Alexander's and this was incredibly redeeming for my love of steak. The petite lobster tails for an appetizer were delicate and delicious. The filet mignon - I felt like it was the best steak I ever ate. Every bite I was like "oh my god" - my husband had the beef wellington and while his was good I could tell I made him more than a little jealous. The service was impeccable. We came with a groupon and I was a bit nervous that we might encounter some rudeness (this happened at the Melting Pot). Instead, our server, was more than friendly, polite, professional, knowledgeable, and all around an impressive representative of the service industry! He was a classic old school waiter who took immense pride in his work and I wanted to shake his hand. I do see some negative reviews on service from other yelpers - ours was actually very good, so maybe there is some variation depending on when you come and who you get. I agree with other yelpers re: making reservations in advance!

We were lucky enough to have a private 6 course dinner for 4 cooked by the head chef. It wasn't out first meal here but it was the most memorable. Each course was delightful and thoughtfully put together. Wine pairings were exquisite. First course was an oyster on the half shell with a Mignette sauce. I of coarse had to get the recipe! We had everything from surf and turf, to duck and foie gras sliders. (A MUST have) A beautifully put together. The service is always spot on and the food is to die for. If you can get the chef to make you something that is "off" the menu, I would suggest it!

My fiancee and I dined at No. VI Chop House last night to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and talk about our upcoming wedding. Everything was spot on perfect. Service was impeccable, our meals were wonderfully prepared and you could tell the chefs hands were all over the plates as the presentation was beautiful. The morel mushroom bisque was simply amazing, you have to try it. We also enjoyed a delightful foie gras and fresh oysters on the half shell as appetizers. My fiancee had the Caesar salad and I, being a staunch believer that every food can be made better through the addition of bacon, had the spinach and bacon salad, both were excellent. I had a 24 ounce Porterhouse cooked to a beautiful medium rare while my fiance had an 8 ounce Filet cooked to a beautiful rare. We tried each others steaks and agreed they were both perfect. I added 3/4 lb of Alaskan King crab legs and topped my steak with bleu cheese and we split sides of sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, and a Gorgonzola Au gratin all were great additions and we had a ton of food. They have a nice wine list here and the staff is quite knowledgeable about the wine list and proper wine service. We enjoyed a wonderful Bordeaux which we both loved. Next time we hope to save room for desert, they looked great but we were too stuffed by the end of the meal. I can't wait to go back and stuff myself like a gluttonous pig again soon!

So incredibly disappointed with the food here. Fortunately I bought a groupon!! Firstly, you walk in from the hotel lobby entrance and the over powering smell of chlorine is so strong its down right offensive. The smell did not get any weaker as we made our way to the restaurant and sat at our table. Our waiter was quite nice and polite. But the food was tasteless and ordinary. We had steak and fish, both horribly bland and luke warm on top of it! We still managed to spend well over $150 not including our groupon. We were really looking forward to date night at Chop House VI and we were thoroughly disappointed.

Really had a nice evening. The food was great, even if my medium rare steak was rare, easily fixed. Service was very good, class and friendly and knew the menu and most importantly everything tasted great. Very similar to Coach Insignia, for obvious reasons, but has a touch of being different. The room is a little chopped up, but not bad, and dark, so prepare. Bathrooms are outside the restaraunt in hotel, you will get lost Best part was when the table next to us, about 10 people, ordered their steaks well done and asked for A1 sauce and the server said they do not have that. You could tell they take some pride in the food and are not ashamed of it.

Highly overrated. Service was slow. I ordered the beef wellington. Outside was a golden brown....Inside cold. Dining companions had pretty much same experience. We complained to manager who did not really care all that much about it. Told us we were the first to ever complain. Will not go back.

Another gift card, another return visit to No. VI. Neither Mustard Cured Hot Smoked Salmon nor Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cheesecake on the menu for this visit though. Bummer. Rosemary crusty bread is brought to the table to start your meal - very good. Officially, we started with the Duck Empanadas this time. Duck confit in an empanada with salsa and creme fraiche on top (we skipped the creme fraiche). They were yummy and the salsa provided a little heat. We were a little surprised that the appetizer was only two empanadas. Sure they are decent size, but $5 each? A little pricey in my mind. House salad supposed to be the same as noted in my previous review, according to the menu, but chick peas were conspicuously missing. Interestingly, the house salad is $5 on the menu, but our bill said "Add House - $2". We both had the NY Strip (still $39) this time and were both very pleased. Their steaks are still seasoned with a "No. VI seasoning" which is more than just salt and pepper so if you have any allergies you will want to check with your waiter/waitress. Waiter did not offer us a choice of sauce with steak, and we forgot to specify, so they both arrived with the default = zip sauce. Steak still arrives with "garnish" of two onion rings and a handful of green beans. A sliver or two of red pepper on top of the green beans. Onion rings no longer on the menu, but your waiter can order you a side for $4. Do it. Big side of mushrooms ($7) included shallots and was probably enough to serve 5 people. Bread pudding with chocolate and peanut butter for dessert ($8). Nothing to write home about, but not bad. Scoop of vanilla ice cream accompanied the bread pudding and was worth every fat gram/calorie. Online menu now matches in-restaurant menu. Service was good, but not as great as you expect for a $100+ meal.

In my opinion, nothing beats a night out at NoVI Chop House! We have been dining here for close to 6 years, and always enjoy our food. I can't review much except the filet, because they are so good here I can't bring myself to try anything else! The new location's atmosphere is lacking something, however. I did like the atmosphere when the restaurant was located at Hotel Baronette. Join the frequent diner club to earn points and rewards as you dine. Their Creme Brulee is one of the best I've had.

This place is so good! I went on a Tuesday night, so not every busy. The food was delicious, I got the NY Strip and my boyfriend got the Lamb. We also split the mashed potatoes and asparagus, however the sides are HUGE. We didn't finish them both only about half, even after sharing. The only complaint about the food would have to be the sauces they use. The lamb came served on top of some sort of white sauce, white neither my boyfriend or I cared for. Not a huge deal, but it said nothing about the sauce on the menu. So make sure to ask if you're picky like me! The dessert was small, but oh so good! We got the chocolate bomb - coconut crust with chocolate mousse, covered in chocolate cake, covered in chocolate gounache, with caramel drizzle! The place is nice, private, and had a bar/lounge area that would have been nice to visit if I were old enough! The staff was friendly and very attentive, possibly because it was pretty slow while we were there, but good service is always a plus as far as I am concerned. They do give you 25% off your bill(food only) when you sign up for their free members club. No one brings this to your attention, so you have to ask. It made out $100 bill a nice $75! Also, the card is actually a good value when I looked over it at home, if you go there with two people and spend around a $100 dollars each time you will get a reward every time! I will definitely be going back, totally worth the cost, and the portions are quite big so I will have lunch again tomorrow! Overall perfect place for a date night, celebration, or work dinner. Great food, good value, friendly staff, good rewards program/discount if you know about it!

A pricey restaurant but good for events and special occasions. The food is PERFECT. Steaks are wonderful, sides are great as are drinks and desserts. I constantly am craving Novi Chophouse but we can't afford to go but a few times a year. I would recommend to anyone!

This place is soooo good. I was here for belated Christmas dinner with my family. We ordered the chef special which was an 8oz filet with lobster claw meat. We also got the lobster mac and cheese. The meat was cooked to perfection. Meaning, I ordered rare and got the proper cool center and not the usual medium rare that you see other cowardly steakhouses make. Service here was great. They even have a guy who scrapes the crumbs off your table. My only complaint is that they play their ambient music a bit too loud and the soundtrack sucks. It sounds like 80s yacht rock jazz that you might here in a 1980s elevator. Great place. Probably one of the best steak and lobster places in the Novi area.

Our visit to the NoVI chop house left us disappointed even though we were really looking forward to our first time dining there. The wine selection was extensive, and the wines were decent for the price range we selected. Our waiter was friendly, but when we were ready to order he said "Oh! You're ready to order? I just need to go say hi to someone first, be right back." It was very odd, but not as odd as the waiter for the table next to us who kept arguing - literally for 5 minutes - with the lady patron that she ordered the potatoes as a side (not after the food was delivered, during the order process still) even though she said spinach. The first loaf of bread delivered to the table was very good, and the butter wasn't rock hard cold but we asked for some more bread for our group and the second loaf was rock hard, as was the refrigerated butter. I ordered the heirloom tomato salad, which consisted of approximately 1 teaspoon of pesto, 4 quarters of 4 different cherry-sized tomatoes (so, at least there was variety even though it totaled one cherry tomato), three 1-inch in diameter, thinly sliced pieces of mozzarella and a wilted piece of lettuce. The steaks that were ordered got good reviews from everyone. The broccoli, however, was undercooked and 2/3 hard inedible stem, and the au gratin potatoes were very undercooked and crunchy. The au gratin potatoes did have good flavor, so I'm sure if they were cooked through it would have been a great side. The scallop entree had 5 good-sized scallops, but very little pea risotto and the scallops were dry from being significantly overcooked and were gritty with sand. The pea risotto was on the salty side but I like salty foods so it worked for me. We ordered two of the lava cakes to share for the table, and the cakes were flavorless and dry, and there was very little "lava" center. The pecan tuile that accompanied the cake was 3 times thicker than it should have been, making it difficult to eat because it was painful to chew. Our waiter did not ask how the food was, otherwise I would have said something at the table but only asked if we needed anything when he stopped by. I doubt we'll be back.

Easily one of the top steakhouses in the Detroit burbs, No VI delivers. Although pricey, you get what you pay for. Awesome appetizers (sautéed lobster rocks) and well portioned entrees are cooked to perfection. Snappy and upscale, the wait staff is attentive and knowledgable. The only thing lacking is a top notch reception staff, but once past them you are clear sailing for an enjoyable and relaxing evening.

For the price, this is not worthwhile. We used a groupon and even then, I felt like we paid too much for what we got. Will not return.

Consistently excellent steaks, the best in the area. The manager, Tony, is a class act and always makes you feel welcome. Whenever we are craving a good steak (besides one that comes off our own grill) this is where we go.

Love this place! It's out of the way, but worth it for special occasions. I had to take a star though, because as amazing as the food is, it's really laden in butter and oil. Even the salads (which I ordered to have something lighter between the super heavy mushroom bisque and a steak) was so oily It was more oil than spinach. I always get a bit overwhelmed halfway through the meal with all the rich food. Its delicious, amazing and high quality, but some balance/lightness IS needed. Green beans were the only side on my enormous steak platter- (which was great and perfectly cooked) but 12 tiny green beans coated in oil were not the best choice. The deserts are a miss.

I had a steak and it it was quite good. The biggest drawback of the restaurant is location, I would expect that restaurant of this class would have its own dedicated building. At this price I expect not to be distracted by children having fun in the hotel pool.

Wow, second time here after using a Groupon to give it a first try. Came here with 4 people total and we were the second group in the restaurant early on a Sunday evening. First part went along great, with wine, appetizers, soup, and salad. And then we waited, waited, and waited for the main course! An hour after we finished salad, our main course arrived. BUT the kicker was that only 2 of us ordered a main course, the other 2 ordered sides only! Only saw our waiter once to tell us our food will be out soon! Huh, what is soon? My wife even nodded off once while we were waiting! Other tables had come and gone! Was it the lobster mac & cheese that was the problem?? Curious minds want to know. The food was OK, my filet was cooked medium to medium rare, the lamb shank was in a pasta, so it looked pretty good but was a little on the cool side. Not cold, just not hot! You know, not enough to send it back, but enough to make a comment! The problem is that this isn't what you expect when you shell out $200 for dinner. So, go forewarned, I hope you had a better experience than we did.

My wife and I have been going to this place since they were in the original location. I must give credit where it's due. This place always throws down solid and consistent food and service. The food is great, the steak's are prime and the seafood is fresh. The Caesar salad, lobster bisque, foie gras are all excellent choices but I doubt anything on the menu will disappoint, All in all a fine restaurant for a fantastic meal.

Just tried them for take-out (actually the deliver to nearby hotels)... Had the cowboy ribeye - perfectly cooked... a tad more char, and a bit less fat. Could've gone the other way too :) . Also had a great salad - spinach, pears, cheese and dressing. Bonus is that they delivered, and with real no-kidding steak knives and linens :) Co-workers from the area swear by it - will have to check out the place in-person next time.

Our experience was very average. I have eaten much better food at other steakhouses at fairly cheaper price. We ordered the Porterhouse Steak (Medium) and it came out WELL DONE and Chewy. My wife ordered the Lamb Shank and it was kinda sweet, so she wasn't too pleased with that. The only thing what tasted really good was the lobster bisque soup. Our server was pleasant and the service was quick. We were In and out of the place within 40 minutes. Not sure if I would go back again anytime soon even with a Groupon.

I had great Filet Mignon and amazing sides here. Our server was T.J. and he is eloquent, knowledgeable and proud of his art. The chop house has a great selection of Michigan beers which is great since we are from Cali. I had 4 different types of IPA's in one sitting awesome! I had a 10 oz filet and friends had just about everything else. The Potatoes Au Gratin were AMAZING and I had a size of sauteed mushrooms and onions to die for. i had a great time and our server was really top notch happy guy! Our hostess was Candy and she was great! We had a large group and were seated quick in the back. Food came out hot and delicious and all together!

This was my second visit, the first being stellar. Unfortunately, this second visit was far from it; the wait staff was non existent, we sent both of our steaks back with my replacement steak being tasteless and incredibly tough. I've never had a ribeye/delmonico that was tough or tasteless before. I must say that they did the right thing and took our food off the bill. I'll be hesitant to give them another opportunity. Too bad as I was very excited about going there again.

I had the full experience last Saturday night after working the golf show. Smart to make a reservation even at 9pm on a Saturday night. Had a beer in the bar and sat behind a poll for a couple minutes before I got served. If you don't like smoke, don't go into the bar. I couldn't have lasted in there for more than 15 minutes. Lighting was spotlight style on the middle of the tables and ours was actually shinning right on my head, thought I was getting interrogated all throughout dinner but whatever the food made up for it. Our server was distant at times but the water guy earned a good game slap on the back even though I didn't follow through and give him one. Filet was cooked perfectly and I love onion rings as toppers so high five for that one chef. Mashed potatoes were perfect and corn was great too. I met some friends in the bar after dinner and told them I only have 3 words for you after that dinner, "Chocolate Molten Cake." It was everything a dessert should be and more and I'll remember it forever. It was pricey and even though there were lots of guys with jackets on and ladies with dresses on I felt comfortable in dressy jeans and a button down shirt. Side note on service: My colleague left his CC on the table after dinner and they immediately found me and were in the process of tracking him down as well. Good to see they were more concerned than he was about it.

Work was springing for Dinner. So we picked the most expensive place we could find. Turns out I enjoyed it more than the usual Cameron's, Ruth Chris, Capitol Grille etc... The Hotel looks a little outdated from the outside. But once you enter...total class. I went with the Steak Au Poivre. A 14 oz. New York Strip rubbed in peppercorns and cooked with Cognac and Mushrooms. Simply outstanding. We had a late guest arrive as dinner was being served. He promptly placed his order and received his food along with the rest of us. Very cool. If you are looking for an upscale place where most diners have no idea a recession is going on...Check this place out. Oh yeah...the Chocolate Bomb dessert. Order it.

After my first review of this restaurant and speaking with the assistant general manager, I'm compelled to add to my initial comments. The gazpacho we ordered was fermenting. The asst GM told me on the phone that she was asked about the soup after we sent it back. She told me they make their gazpacho differently than everyone else and that it was fine. My question is, if she was there the night we dined and had issues with the food, why didn't she come tell us that herself that night? She implied I was not correct that we didn't see our waiter after we ordered...what happened to the customer being right? I guess if we had seen her or our waiter that night and had the opportunity to discuss our concerns we may have considered going back. No chance of that happening now...

Four of us went to a chop house last night and we all had fish... and it was excellent. The other 3 had the halibut special and they all liked it. I had the scallops from the menu and it was wonderful! I can't say enough about the dish. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a nice color, the spring pea risotto was the most flavorful that I have had in a long time and the balsamic vinegar brought all the flavors together. The extra touch was the Italian salami (?) cooked crisp and standing between each scallop. Nice job Chef Jeremy! My husband and I split the orange layer cake for dessert and we all went home happy. Our server did a nice job as well. We will be back.

RUDE & DISCOURTEOUS STAFF. THE WEBSITE IS INNACCURATE...NO HAPPY HOUR! If you are not planning on dropping a severe dime eating here and just want to have a drink and an app, be prepared to be treated "less than". We have spent a couple occasions here and really enjoyed it but after being treated by both the bartender and the server like "non-people" because we asked for a happy hour menu that the web says they have but the bartender said they no longer have but then handed me a menu with the words HAPPY HOUR across the top...HUH??? Frankly, I don't have the patience to have to think that much when I'm out for a good time after a long day at work. I have changed my mind about this place. Food may still be good but after being treated that way, you may as well be serving crap pie. Considering they are constantly offering Groupons, it seems that they may not want to be turning off good patrons such as ourselves. We may not have been spending a lot that evening but now we will spend our bigger occasions elsewhere. You lose....not us!

Expensive but hey, I'm worth it! The atmosphere is incredible and my friend and I had a fabulous meal. Definitely not somewhere to rush through dinner and head to another stop in the same evening. Stay and make a night of it. Service is second to none. Great wine list.

I am a fan of NoVI chophouse and so is everyone else in the local area. I have tried many items on the menu and there has never been a bad meal. I am a little disappointed at the fact I ordered some of there mushroom bisque soup to go, The soup is very thick and contains a variety of different mushrooms. I didn't pay just 3 bucks for the soup. I paid more because of the quality, but I would have expected them to include crackers or bread with it. Overall I just know know to order soup to go just make sure I have it with a entree when I have time to sit down.

We are sitting here at a table at da chophouse. There are four of us and of the four only one steak was cooked as ordered. Three of the four were at least one "temp" overdone and one of our companions ordered his med rare and it was served med well. I ordered steak au whatever and for 42 bucks, no thanks. We ordered creme brule and it was carmelized on top, but runny and cold inside. Come on, now! The place was amazingly loud, the waiter next to us was even louder and had this annoying "schtick". We eat out a higher end restaurants often and this place was a huge disappointment. Went to la bistecca last night and it was great as always. Went to Flemings a week ago and it was solid as always. Save your money and don't go to NO. VI chop house. For what you spend vs the quality of the food the management should embarrased. Really.

No one has 'yelped' this place yet? Surprising... Well, I can't speak for the dinner or the steaks or the desserts. What I can speak for is this.. Seared Ahi Tuna app (see my pics - the one they provide for the Ahi is nothing like what I got) was 4 healthy slices of tasty tuna on a bed of seaweed salad, with ginger, in a sesame sauce, and 2 slices of not too tart grapefruit for about 17$. The online menu shows the shrimp cocktail at 5$ a shrimp, but tonight they were $3.50 (the 5$ ones are 6-8 count, 3.50 for what they had was 8-12 count). Very healthy in size and very good, about three bites per shrimp. And a Ketel One Martini up with 3 olives. After a 20% tip, I was 50$ into them without dinner, dessert, salad, or another drink. So, needless to say, this place is pricey. They advertise they are top 10 Zagat rated in Michigan, and at about 6:30-7pm on a Saturday before Valentine's they were starting to get crowded, but the bar was still pretty open. Very nice atmosphere, classy, but being that it's attached to the Crowne Plaza there were some nicely dressed and some just nice casual. I was in jeans and Timberlands with a button down and they didn't give me second look. I usually don't pay exorbitant prices for steaks since I can grill like nobody's business. Note that if you are staying here, you can get wireless in there but your cell may get bad signal. I have Sprint and barely got a signal, and it went in and out. Seems like a nice place to take a date and impress. They have a pretty good looking menu, and a good wine list. I'm only giving 3 stars because I could go down to Bonefish Grill and pay less and the apps and martini would be just as good. Maybe someone else will 'yelp' this place and rave about the steaks and lobster tails. Just look for the Crowne Plaza and you'll find it.

I love everything about No.VI Chophouse and I do prefer the newer location. My faves? Tuna tartare appetizer, beef wellington and the morel mushroom bisque. I swear I dream about this food! The chef is amazing and his specials are always awesome! He prepared this pork belly app with truffled popcorn once. OMG. To die for. Go! Soon! You won't be disappointed!

I thought this was one of the most over-priced, sub-par meals that I've had in a loooong time. The service was marginal. They stuck us in the room facing the hotel pool (pretty trashy ambiance) and were kind of forgotten about. Food presentation was par at best. EVERYTHING was over-seasoned. Quality of meat was average. Their use of shredded, flavorless lobster in various dishes just to jack the price up was almost comical (lobster macaroni and cheese?). With a couple of drinks each, our party of 5 paid over $300 and were pretty disappointed. I won't be going back...

Still good after all these years. The move down the street has not effected either the service or the menu. Both excellent. Wine prices are OK, but if you look closely (and don't chase big name labels) there are some very good values. And honestly, I like the new location better. The dining room is more intimate, and the lounge is nice quiet place to have a drink or dinner at the bar. One suggestion... lose the giant table lamps on the bar.

4 of us ate here recently with the aid of a recent groupon deal- $85 for 2 appetizers and 4 entrees. For the groupon price, I would easily give this five stars, but at retail price, which is what will be useful to yelpers looking for a place to eat, it gets 4 stars, which is still worthy of a re-visit in my book. Being new to the area, I dont know of many steakhouses that serve USDA Prime steak, but this is one of them. The best/most important question when writing a dining a review? How is the food? The steaks definitely meet the highest of standards, and were correctly cooked and well-flavored. The non-steak entrees (we had scallops and duck confit) were at a quality one would expect for entrees in the mid-$30 range (or even low $40 range). I definitely have no questions about the entrees and appetizers we had, they were all done correctly with good ingredients. As one other reviewer had mentioned, the food is traditional faire for an upscale steakhouse, nothing terribly adventurous, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. My only knock: the side salads (just an extra $2 when added to an entree) quality was not consistent with the rest of the meal- sure, it's just $2, but I could have gotten better at Wendy's. I would have gladly paid $5 or $6 for a side salad that was as good as the rest of the meal. The 2 reasons I would give it 4 stars instead of five: the location leaves something to be expected, it's kind of an odd space in the ground floor of a hotel. Overall the ambience is nice but it has some holes in it. When you walk in, you can smell chlorine from the pool. And you have to leave the restaurant to go to the bathroom. They used the restaurant space the best they could, but we were seated by a thin black curtain where we could see through it and notice a barren corridor with warehouse lighting. Service was polite and well-intentioned but was a little understaffed. Had we paid full price, I would have felt that the service was slightly below expectations. Regardless though, I give a heavier emphasis on the food quality when it comes to the final score, and for that, I applaud No. VI.

I've heard of the No. VI chophouse for years In fact most of us call it the NOVI Chophouse. I just never really got around to going. What a mistake I made. Starting with the ambiance, this place is certainly the place to take a date. The booths face out so you are forced to comfy up to your companion to start a romantic evening in the dark candlelit atmosphere. I also appreciate the table side service. Wine is wheeled out on a cart and decanted table side making every bottle seems as much special as the last. We ordered the crab-cakes and to our delight of the flavors and roasted corn butter sauce, the dish was separated for us table side to enjoy the course on our own individual plate. Next I was presented with one of the best tasting Bisque type soups I have ever eaten. This Morel Mushroom Soup amazed both me and my companion. The Morels are understood to have a lot of effort in finding them in the wild and with each bite I can see why people hunt for this amazing tasting Mushroom, Pure flavors of light earthy undertones and brandy drops with a Creme-Freice'-swirl exquisite this bowl of delight. I ordered the Beef Wellington, Absolutely cooked to perfection. The mushroom duxelle and Cabernet sauce really brought out the flavors of every element to this dish. My companion ordered the Scallops. To my amazement theses were one of the biggest Sea Scallops I have ever seen. If you love scallops, this is the place to go. Because of the size it wasn't like you only got 3, no you were graced withsix giant scallops resting alongside a creamy mashed potato and andoule sausage. We were so full we had to pass on dessert, but the whole experience was a dessert in itself. I rate the No. VI Chophouse 5 outta 5 stars. It's nice to see a little old school fine dining with a modern flare twist around and also have the food to back it up!!

I've been a fan and customer of Matt Prentice's organization for years and years. He catered our wedding in 1994! However, the food at the No. VI Chophouse, at least on this visit, was only "good". Steaks were undercooked, and sides were prepared well but not spectacular. Perhaps we have been spoiled by previous experiences at his restaurants, but the food this time was just not great. The entire area where the banquet rooms, chophouse, and deli unique all are in has a distinct, strong smell of chlorine -- I'm guessing the hotel pool is nearby? Not sure that there is anything that they can do about that, but it certainly woke me up on the way in and out of the restaurant. Service, however, was excellent as always. Brent, our waiter, was fantastic!

This really was as good as it gets. Bartender started me off with a great Old Fashioned. My steak with blue cheese topper was amazing. I've had better mac and cheese as a side dish, but that's fine. Her scallop entree was equally as good.

So disappointing After planning to go with friends, checking out the menu and deciding to try the lobster tails, I had high expectations of a great meal and a nice evening. I did enjoy being with my friends, but honestly, could have had just as good a time with them at a chain restaurant across the parking lot for $200 less. Laughing and talking with friends and assuming my food was going to be great, I got too far into my meal before realizing that this was the most overcooked, over salted rubbery lobster I ever had and I should have sent it back. Couldn't get through the whole thing. Woke up this morning with the yucky taste of that horrible dish in my mouth. Other items were over salted and otherwise underwhelming. Still waiting for a good restaurant in Novi. Craig Common come out here and rescue us PLEASE we need a place like The Common Grill in Chelsea. All we've got is concrete parking lots and fake, fake, fake.

Got a gift certificate for Christmas and was excited to try "one of the top ten restaurants in Michigan according to Zagat's", which they proclaim on their website. I don't have a lot of regard for Zagat's and even less after dining here. Maybe I'm spoiled living in Ann Arbor but I don't think of most top Ann Arbor restaurants as the best, merely very good. The No. VI Chophouse, though, would not make Ann Arbor's top five and maybe not even top ten if I really think about it. The restaurant is in the Crowne Plaza hotel which is located in a parking lot so there's no view of anything. Atmosphere was dark and nice but nothing special. We had reservations but the two of us were seated side by side at a large booth designed for six. We really weren't interested in watching the table across from us. The food was good and priced at what you'd expect for a "top ten" restaurant. But the special, a surf and turf with a filet mignon and "6 oz. of lobster" was pretty light on the lobster. I didn't have my scale but it seemed to me it should be more than three modest sized bites. The steak was prepared exactly as ordered and was good, but again, not something you'd expect from a top ten steakhouse. The service was excellent but they didn't return any cash from the gift certificate nor did they indicate the tip could go on it. Maybe this is the best place in Novi but it's nowhere near the top ten in Michigan.

Went to the Chophouse on a Friday night. We has reservations, but probably did not need them. The lack of customers is probably due to the weak economy in the area. Between those of us on the table we ordered a 5 oz filet, a cowboy steak, the lobster tail. For sides we ordered the fried corn, garlic mashed potatoes, and sauteed asparagus. The Steaks here are all Prime and tasted fantastic. They were also cooked exactly as ordered. The service was very attentive. The only drawback here is the new location is not as elegant and is very dark. They do have a neat bar though.

We used to go here maybe 3-4 times per year. Normally, the food was good and the steaks were cooked really well. Last night was our last time going there unless they make some serious changes. The service was OK except it felt like I had to waive our server down anytime I needed anything. I ordered a house salad that I explicitly asked for no cheese on it but come out with cheese on it anyways. While we were still working on our salads, the entrees came out, which was awkward. I ordered an 8 oz. filet cooked medium that was more medium rare, which explains why it came out so fast. I also asked for a King Crab topper with the Bearnaise on top. The crab had shells in it as I bit down on it and had to awkwardly pull them out and discard them. Again, our server barely stopped by, didn't even really ask if everything was OK or not, I was losing my patience so I just wanted to pay and leave. If you might think that this was an isolated incident, a table of 8 next to me had sent back two of their steaks for being undercooked.

Made reservations a week in advance for my husband's 60th birthday. My son dad flown in from out of town to surprise him. While there were several empty tables - I was disappointed they took us to a table in a corner at the very back of the restaurant next to a door leading to the bar and kitchen area. Servers were coming in and out and it was so noisey we could not hear each other talk. Two serving stands were across from our table so we had constant traffic with servers coming and going with the food and dirty dishes. Server TJ was great, food was good although the truffle risotto had so much garlic it was not edible. I am so disappointed the evening did not go as I had hoped - the ambience sucked and the night that should have been so special was disappointing. We spent well over 300.00, I would not recommend this for a special event- there are too many other good restaurants out there.

I should start with the positives. The food was actually very good and the wine list is above average and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the restaurant moved from The Baronette Hotel to the Crown Plaza and the difference is clearly evident. There were two of us for a business dinner and it took three hours because the service was so bad. It was just salads followed by steaks. That was it. When thirty minutes expired between the time the check was presented and we went to the GM to pay, it was worth never returning. BTW, the "apology" from the GM was lame. I will never return.
