Yes, I haven't venture out to the general public for a long long long... (gulp)... long time. Between buying a house, remodeled, deck work and 3 month old baby.. eating out and leasure time is really a luxury these days. It does require pre-planning and I am totally not good at that. Somehow baby decided to give us a break and we finally venture out to this place with our neighbors. Anyways, it is a small narrow restaurant and not very baby friendly as far as carseat. ( yes, I am reviewing from now on if the place is baby/carseat friendly!!) We were in a booth closer to the back of the restaurant where the traffic is usually hectic from drink and food orders. Somehow the waitress was very forgetful even though there wasn't a really busy crowd. Maybe it was just tired? IDK.. regardless the food came out good but La Marsa in Farmington hills still the best. Don't get me wrong, the beef /chicken kabobs and the hammus were excellent. Portions were enough for 2 people, but it just didn't hit the spot. I wasn't dissappointed, but wasn't "ZOMGBBQ" feeling either. Maybe because I was holding a droolin baby and trying to eat with a fork. I dont know, maybe that was it! lol Seriously- Everything was perfectly made the way it is suppose to, it just wasn't there for me.

Wow...ever since my other favorite Mediterranean restaurant closed down in Livonia, this is my new favorite and the food is amazing!!! Their house dressing is so yummy and I cannot get enough of their homemade bread, hummus and even the rice is unbelievable. if you like Mediterranean food, you cannot pass this place up! Now if only they had one in LA, my life would be complete!!

Better than average and probably the best Middle Eastern around the Livonia area. Lunch portions are pretty good and on the cheap side. Dinners are a little on the pricey side but the portions are ginormous. Pretty cozy atmosphere for a strip mall joint. Open flame oven adds to the mood and really simple but delicious crispy on the outside chewy on the inside rolls with some salsa type stuff to dip them in are served before your meal for lunch and dinner. They are strangely addictive. Zesty chicken Ghalaba is my favorite with a delightfully tangy spicy sauce smothered in roasted almonds. Shish Kabob and Tawook have also been good. The lamb chili is very interesting and has a semi sweet mole kinda of thing going on. I never ate at the other La Shish locations which were said to be much better but I always thought the location at 6 and Newburgh sucked and always bowed out of invites to dine there Sheesh is light years ahead of that place and I go back often.

In the last few years I've been to several mediterranean places and always love the food. Today I wanted to try this place after reading the good reviews. I've ordered a Chicken Shawarma, my favorite. Pita bread wrap was hard and the chicken inside is rubbery and tasteless. Wondering how this place got such good ratings. It could be that just my experience was bad, but I'm not going to go there ever again and recommend you stay away as well.

I go here at least once a week for lunch. Never disappointed, wish it was closer to Canton! They do need more seating but that is a testament to their great food.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. It is a cute little place with friendly staff and the food was delicious. We also had plenty of food to take home with us which was awesome and the price was decent as well

LOVE THIS PLACE. We were one of the first customers when it opened a few years ago and continue to go on a very regular basis. Happy to see it thriving :) SHish tawook sandwich is my favorite quick lunch... salad/dressing is soooo yummy... tenderloin saji is unique and very tasty for a dinner...fried kibbee is delish... and kids love hummus with chicken stuffed into some of their FABULOUSLY addicting fresh bread. I want one of those bread ovens because of this place :) Garlic sauce is THE BEST around... they put a bit of jalapeno in there and it's really got a nice zip.

Best Arabic food outside of Dearborn. Sandwiches and salads are great for carry out meals. Love the warm pita bread and garlic spread (getting hungry just writing this review).

This is a frequented lunch spot for me since I work in Livonia. It's a further drive for me compared to other Lebanese stops in the area - but the bread keeps me coming back. The bread is homemade as you order it in a brick oven and words can't even describe how amazing it is. Their Hummus is the absolute best I've ever had - which is somewhat bad since now I compare all other hummus to Sheesh's. The reason for the 4 stars...I always have to ask for drink refills and more bread from the wait staff. I feel like they should really be on top of this in order to receive 5 stars. I only order the Chicken Schwarma because I feel bad just eating the bread...and it is sub-par at best. Go for the bread and hummus :)

Their lunch special can't be beat. A choice of sandwich and two sides for $7 - $8 is a steal for their quality of food they give. Their bread is out of this world and always in excess. The staff is great and they are always so accomodating. I would just recommend getting it to go because there is always a line at lunch time.

I was very happy with the addition of Sheesh to the Livonia area. It is my go to place for middle eastern food and the benefit is we don't have to drive to Dearborn to get a good fix. Their food and service are very good and prices are inline with other places. I enjoy their lunch combo for carryout and dinner portions are HUGE. The pita bread and garlic paste can't be beat and are a great addition to everyone's meal. Every time I pick up carry out or dine in the place is crowded. That's a good sign to me of the quality you are getting. I encourage people in the area to check out Sheesh!

Anytime I am in mood for Mediterranean food this is the place I go. Great place to sit down for a nice dinner and also a great place for a quick carryout for lunch. Falafel sandwhich is under $5 which is what I order for lunch quite often. Dinner can be a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

This my favorite Lashish type restaurant!! They have a great lunch menu with nice size portions. You will not be disappointed!!

The fresh pita bread is hot, delicious and has delicious dips served w/it. Notice two uses of the word of delicious in one sentence! The lamb and chicken are spiced perfectly. The appetizer size is big Waitstaff is nice and efficient. It's not too noisy. We are not Mediterranean food experts, but this place makes us want to be! Prices are very reasonable, too!

An unexpected experience in Lavonia, MI. I had the baked Kibbee. I was served a large salad that came with the meal. The dressing was amazing. Simple olive oil, vinegar and a hint of lemon juice. The salad was very fresh and very tasty. The Kibbee was served as a very large portion. Two people could split this plate and walk away full. The restaurant was clean and the people were friendly. What more could you ask for?

Colorful tapestry, rich fabrics, and bright paintings adorn the walls. Music played softly in the background. The basket of oven-fresh pita bread was a nice welcome to this ornately decorated restaurant. Warm and flavorful, the pita bread was a nice delivery system for the baba ghanoush. I happen to be a huge fan of the smoky and chunky eggplant taste. The puffed pita bread was also nice with the garlic paste sauce that had a deliciously distinctive bite. I could have made a meal solely of that bread basket. For entrée, I had the shawarma combo, which included both chicken and beef. This was served with a choice of soup and salad, and fries, rice, or grilled vegetables. I selected the latter - the carrots and green peppers had a nice charred taste, but I was not fond of the onions. There was just too much of it. The salad was cold, fresh, and vinegary, working well with the various flavors and spices of the meal. Portion wise, there was so much food that I ended up with 3 evenings worth of leftovers which made dinner very affordable and me very happy. Service was friendly and quick.

This is my go to place for a quick dinner or a take out when in Livonia. All food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is homous lamb with fatoush salad. If you are ordering out make sure to ask for the garlic spread that they serve at the restaurant with the bread.

First time, great food, nice interior, clean bathrooms, slower service but they were busy, served the deboned still pink and had to go back, better after it was sent back

How many freaking times can a place mess up a take out order - well this place can do it A LOT!! )the first few times we would call, and return the food- BTW SAME FREAKING GIRL MAKING THE MISTAKE- but I've already spent time and gas getting there then home that we stopped doing it. When we called to inform of the error the girl would get an attitude about it and act like its our fault that she's too busy chatting with other employees or checking her phone that she doesn't check the bag before handing it to the customer. I'm done. Their food is good, but so are other places in the area - and cheaper

I go to Sheesh at least once a week for carry out. This place is always packed when I go in, because it's some of the best Mediterranean food out there. I usually stick with the chicken fattoush salad, but I have had their shawarma wraps and meals and they are great too. Their bread is awesome, because it's baked fresh right in the brick oven in the front. Haven't had a bad experience yet!

  • Jim G.

This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the area. It's as good as the old La Shish used to be. Their hummous is absolutely fantastic, along with the freshly baked bread served hot from the oven. Portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. This place was so busy they had to double their size in order to handle all of the business. The artwork on the walls adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. If you want the best Mediterranean food, this is where you need to go.

  • Amanda K.

Love their food.. delicious and fresh. Love tvr i just which fatoosh and the chicken sajji which is hard to find. I just wish they didn't charge $2.50 to add a tablespoon of feta to yiur salad.

The hardest part about moving away from Metro Detroit wasn't leaving family/friends, it's saying goodbye to quality Lebanese food. Sheesh's ghallaba with hummus is top notch. So good, it'd be my last meal request. Like most Arabic places, the grapeleaves and falafel are hit and miss. Other fav include the veggie combo, raw kibbie, and crushed lentil soup. Service is spotty, especially when the aren't busy.

  • Linlin J.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! I've been coming here for years and it feels like the food gets better and better every time! My coworker and I have weeks where to go there for lunch even up to 3 times ! Bet Arabic restaurant :)

  • M C.

Don't know what kind of nasty mystery meat they use! But I found all kinds of bones , ligaments in my shawarma . Disguisting ! Will never return to this restaurant

  • Jason S.

Excellent food! And great service! We always order the chicken tawooks, shawarmas and the deboned chicken. Can't go wrong with any of these. Ask for Lana!

    (5)
  • Lisa W.

Good food. Decent portions. I love the bread. The pita bread here I'd a little thicker and doughy which I love. The only reason the get four stars instead of 5 is lemon oregano needs to be given with more sauce. They up charge $1.00 for lemon oregano and I feel I scrape the plate to get sauce on my chicken. Also, once when I went in on a Sunday evening and walked in to do a carry out, he took two orders on the phone and I had to wait to continue to place my order so he could get the phone orders. I was in the middle of giving my order and had to pause. I do realize the get busy, but it was strange. But, I love their food and will return.

Best Mediterranean around. The salads are fresh and tasty and I love their dressing. The sheesh tawook- lemon oregano style is my favorite meal. I always ask for extra garlic, yum! The spicy hummous is delish. They always give too much bread, but I can't complain about that! I also love the crushed lentil soup. I could eat there everyday! Make sure you give an extra 5-10 minutes on take-out orders. They are always jam packed!

June 5 - Tried Sheesh again today.... inconsistency continues. How do you make a chicken schwarma sandwich and forget the garlic sauce? Also, they've cheapened the pickles. I guess my only option left is to start driving back to Dearborn. Totally inconsistent and disappointing. I would say two times out of ten am I actually satisfied with a meal from Sheesh. This keeps me coming back but not any longer. I just received a chicken Schwarma sandwich that was disgusting... Not toasted on the outside, cold in the center, bland chicken and cheap pickles... It was basically falling apart as I tried to eat it. Very disappointing. When they're on, Sheesh can go up against restaurants in Dearborn but they are incredibly inconsistent. Its a total roll of the dice if you're meal is good.

Service was poor. Bread was cold and half cooked. Had lamb and Hummus appetizer. Lamb was tough and very greasy. Will not return.

Best zesty chicken galaba! I always order carry out from here. The chicken is always flavorful, they give you huge portions where two people can split a meal and the food is always hot and fresh!

  • Amanda L.

Usually come here and have good service but this time just rubbed me the wrong way. Ordered a chicken hummus appetizer and was given 6 small pieces of break, no garlic sauce and no plastic wear for my take out order. When I asked for the garlic sauce that always come with my $12 appetizer I got an attitude from the pregnant woman behind the counter. I was then told it was going to $0.99 for a freakin side of garlic sauce. That should have been included in the first place like EVERY other restaurant provides. Seriously what is hummus or anything Mediterranean without garlic sauce. I then asked for a couple more bread since my bad was empty and it wouldn't be enough to finish my appetizer with. She told me that would be extra too. I paid an additional $3 for garlic sauce and a couple pitas. I wish I would have taken my tip back for the girls nasty attitude and the arm and a leg I just laid for, for some cheap and quick Mediterranean food. I will not be back and will take my business elsewhere. What an awful experience.

I've changed my mind about this place after trying their chicken shawarma. They use dark meat chicken which I am not accustomed to... (It's usually made with white meat at other places). I felt like I was given a bunch of chicken scraps with tons of grizzle on top of my salad. Ugh. When I complained about it, the waitress did nothing to resolve the issue. So I returned the chicken uneaten and was only able to eat the salad portion. So, between this incident, and the inconsistent quality (see previous review), I have chosen to take away one star. Beware of the chicken shawarma!

I grew with Middle Eastern food made by my grandmother (who is from the old country) and my mother. It is easy to find good Middle Eastern in Dearborn, but I don't live in Dearborn! This place is terrific. The food is really excellent, and I've really enjoyed the wait staff, also. Many of them remember me and know what I want to order when I walk in the door (a statement about how often I go, I'm sure). I've had kibbee (raw and cooked), fatayeh (not sure on spelling, also known as meat pies), grape leaves, shish kata, hummus, fattoush salad, dinner (lebanese) salad, falafel, and perhaps a few other things (including the baklava). I'm guessing I've been here over 50 times and I've never had a bad meal or experience. A while back it was difficult to get a seat and there were long lines. They expanded into the space next door, which I think tripled their seating capacity, and now that isn't a problem. But they still seem to fill the place up -- a testament to the great food and service.

Best Mediterranean food in Metro Detroit... I go here or get take out at least once or twice a week. Their Zesty Chicken Gallahba will seriously make you weak in the knees if the tall hot waitress doesn't do it for you when you first walk in. Also, another good choice is their Chicken Fattoush salad. The owner Mike is a really nice guy, but there is a guy Abe that works there that is a total Chicken Fa-Douche Bag... If you can ignore him, you will have an awesome experience with amazing food!

    * Lamb Combo $13.99 Sheesh kafta, 2 meat pies, 2 fried kibbee & 4 lamb grapeleaves. ---------the lamb was a little dry--------- my true disappointment was my salad appeared 5 days old in the morning

    (3)
  • Jo J.

I will never be able to say anything bad about this place. The service is always excellent and the quality and taste of the food is always consistent. Their grape leaves are moist, the hummus is perfect and their garlic paste is top notch. It's got a kick to it, but I could put that on anything. Their bread is made fresh throughout the day and is incredibly fluffy. It can get busy, but it's well worth the wait. I refer to their fattoush tawook as my "crack." My favorite restaurant around!

Twice I ate here and both times Horrible. Wish I can give it NO stars!!! 1.Waitress needs more training. 2.Need to wash there greens better (my tabouli salad had dirt/sand) 3.Lamb kabob sandwich was cold, tasteless and hard like a rock( wouldn't feed it to my dog) 4.Bread was just raw and horrible. 5.Dirty..The waitress told me hold on don't sit yet... I need to clean the table and chairs!!! she cleaned the booth and left it wet...I had to ask her to dry it so I CAN sit down and she gave me a dirty look!!!! WOW!!! If you want GREAT Lebanese food GO to Dearborn!!!! For now on IF I WANT Lebanese food ill drive to Dearborn at Hamido 13251 W Warren its worth the drive. Food is VERY GOOD!! small restaurant, sometimes need to wait for a table.

Second time I give sheesh a try, and it was still awful. The chicken was cold, like last time, hard and lacked taste. The shwarma wrap was hard, stale and disgusting. I eat arabic food all the time and this place sucks, never again

  • Carlos T.

My sister-in-law has been raving about this place for awhile. Well today; I had the privilege of dinning there. As soon as you walk in the staff greets you, which for me is a plus, the dinning area is small compared to most of your Mediterranean style restaurants. But very clean and quiet, my food was fresh and the bread is to die for 10 out of 10 warm and freshly baked, the hummus was 7 out of 10. I would definitely dine here again. The overall experience 8 out of 10.

I have to say I do frequently visit Sheesh to get my garlic fix. Recently I have noticed things have been going downhill. I find their food to be very tasty. Once La Shish exited the market, I was looking for the next best. La Marsa (the location in Farmington Hills) is probably the best around, but too far for me to visit when I crave a schwarma sammy on my lunch break, so Sheesh gets my business. It must be popular, because the other middle eastern restaurant, less than 1 mile away, recently went out of business, and there is ALWAYS a line out the door at lunch. (Note to fellow yelpers: Allow extra time on your lunch break for dining in. Service is mediocre). Carry out is always speedy. In my last 3 visits, I've been disappointed. Small portion of chicken on my salad (which cost nearly $10), forgetting dressing for my carryout order, and very cheap on the pita bread (only 2 slices this last time!). I hope Sheesh can turn it around, because it definitely has seen better days. Regardless of the disappointments, I will return. Their lamb is baaaaa-d ass, (yes I just made that joke) and spicy hummus hits the spot.

Was traveling in the area for work and got takeout from Sheesh. Ordered the Shish Tawook with classic chicken and a small hummus, and it was fantastic. The chicken was extremely tender and the portions were huge! Will definitely come back.

A co worker and myself are her on business from California. I pepped this on yelp and decided upon it. From the outside it is unassuming. On the inside the decor really does set the tone for the nationality of the cuisine offered. We arrived around 3 pm, after lunch and before dinner so the activity was low. A waiter arrived after about two minutes and showed us to our seat. He was a bit slow considering the low customer activity. He was courteous though. The food arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered. My only compliant was that the temperature of the food was just barley warm; I prefer my food to be quite hot as this is an indication of how long it has been sitting after it was finished cooking. The food itself was great. The chicken was well seasoned, juicy, and tender. The roasted veggies were nearly perfect, sweet with a bit of crunch left in them. The lamb soup was perfectly executed in my opinion. I wish that I could take some back home or at least order some via internet. I would recommend this place and I will eat here again upon my return to Michigan.

  • Neil T.

Good service but the food took so long to come out. I was almost full on bread and salad by the time my entree arrived, and when it did I was served with a high mountain of meat (they give you big portions). The food was good although I would've liked pita bread instead of the bread they serve.

  • Matt A.

Great food, most the time. Service is usually above average and since they've expanded their is rarely a wait anymore, which is great since I have small kids. For some real Arabic food give it a try, you will not regret it

  • Dan O.

Absolutely love this menu and food. I'm in Colorado now, so I look for ways to get to Michigan to dine at this restaurant. I dream about their shish tawook and if/when I'm on death row, I'll pick their food for my final meal. The place is tucked away in a strip mall and the menu is derived from the old La Shish restaurant chain (which, sadly is closed). And it's near the business traveler hotels. Just go, you'll love it.

Nice atmosphere its clean but im so disapointed in the food. Prices are on the higher end for middle eastern food.

Oh, Sheesh! Not Shish (because I tried searching for that unsuccessfully - sheesh!) I'll start out by admitting I've never dined in. I love take-out Middle Eastern food - it reheats so nicely and after your breath is laden with that much garlic you don't really want to be out in public anyway. This is one of the closest to my house and easily the most consistent and delicious in the area. I love the Shish-tawook lemon oregano and chicken shawarma. The tabbouli is pretty great too. The hummus is sometimes a little too runny for my taste, but always flavorful. The house salad is great too - I hope it's homemade dressing, and if not I want to know where to buy it! They've always been great about taking my order quickly and efficiently, getting it right every time (which is a big deal when getting take out in the middle of a polar vortex), and having it ready when I get there. I'm a fan and will continue to go back. Bring on the garlic sauce!

  • Al R.

This place has very good food. I dined a few times here but I mostly get carry out. I definitely recommend it. My favorite is the chicken with rice and fattoush salad. Oh, also the fresh bread dipped in garlic is always something you don't want to miss. I have only on complaint: occasionally, they messed up my carry out orders, so make sure you always check it before you leave.

We have lunch at work from this place once or twice a week. They always take care of us. Everything is very delicious!

My favorite middle eastern place in the area. They bake their bread. The garlic sauce is great. I almost always get the same thing. Shish tawook sandwich w extra pickles and a small side of hummus & tabouli. Extra garlic sauce on the side. It doesn't do a thing for your breath, but it is so good!

Absolutely horrible customer service from the manager Abe and carryout always forgets something. While you are reading this consider the fact that I used to go here frequently because it was by my house. I recently went in and picked up carryout from them and they forgot an entire meal. I happened to be eating 20 minutes away this time so by the time I got home it was to late. I was also entertaining a group of people so you can imagine the inconvenience when someone does not have food. This is not the first time they forgot something by the way it was just the firs time I complained. I originally called and spoke with Mike (owner) who at the time was polite and helpful. He told me he would replace the meal and throw in "a few appetizers". "A few appetizers is actually more than a single meal if you add the cost up. I explained to him that next time we come in I would just want two orders of Galabba and I would be all set. I said this because that was what we usually order. I do not want them to replace a meal that someone else ordered and I do not like. I figured since the value in $ was the same it was fair. He said to make sure I call him directly next time I order. When I preceded to call the next time I was given to a guy named Abe. Abe accused me of lying because he only saw one receipt in front of him. What he failed to realize was that myself and friend ordered separately 30 seconds apart so we could pay separate. So while I was trying to explain that to him he was again rude. He abruptly said "have a nice day" and hung up on me a minute into the conversation. I will now be taking my review to every single place online. Not only did I personally go here, I used to take customers here because of its close proximity to my work. In fact I ate dinner here with my entire family the day my dad died. I will make sure to spread the word to everyone I know in the area. Its to bad Mike did not answer the phone that day because he would have kept a lifelong customer. We had been going to Sheesh for 5 years now. Oh and by the way if any of you carryout girls read this, I am the one who would always tip you 20%. Abe---If you have a chance to see this why don't you look at the receipts that day. Notice that there were two almost identical orders within 30 seconds of each other. That is why you only saw the one that Mike signed. Sure got a little frustrated on the phone but your reaction was no way to treat a customer. I drove 20 minutes to pick up this food and ended up having a house guest with no meal. I did not think I would be treated like that when I called back.

Combine the best Middle Eastern food in the area and a location that is conveniently a quick jog off the beaten commuting path for both my husband and myself and you get an idea how often we get carry out from Sheesh. My husband loves the Shawarma. I swear by the Mjadra. The Homous is great, the pitas are fresh, the crushed lentil soup outstanding. I have gotten a couple different salads (Fatoush is my favorite - the dressing is so yummy) and they've all been really good. The only downside (and I give this place five stars) is it is so good that it is EXTREMELY busy after work. I'm not sure what it is like during the week at lunch, but after work for dinner, every time we've been there, there's been a line at the door for tables. The food is worth the wait, but sometimes after work, you just want to get home. So while we've dined in a few times, we tend to just get carry out. The good news is, Sheesh looks to be expanding into the space next door.

My favorite middle eastern restaurant near work! Nice, strong garlic, good bread, delicious salads and tender chicken shawarma. The atmosphere is even better than before since they expanded. You can't go wrong eating here!

  • Grace L.

The food was very generously portioned! We were given some pita and a tomato and herb type of dip. I ordered the Lamb Combo which came with a good amount of fries, 2 kibbee, 1 kafta, 4 grape leaves and 2 meat pies along with a crushed lentil soup. My boyfriend ordered the Lamb Ghalahb which was basically a spicy stir fry with a HUGE helping of rice. There was enough to feed at least 3 people and he got a pretty big house salad with that. The food was tasty and my favorite was the grape leaves - so juicy! At the end the waitress gave both of us a bag of five pita loaves to take home - that in itself is like 4$ on the menu! The downside was that our waitress seemed to have forgotten our table and we waited about half an hour after we finished our meal to receive our check. Our waters weren't offered to be filled until after we received our check and the food came out pretty slowly. I didn't mind as much as my boyfriend because I wasn't in a rush to be anywhere but service was slow and sparse. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we were served - both of us walked away with enough for lunch tomorrow.

This place never disappoints. The food is always good and plentiful. The service is top notch as well! The newly expanded space tells you that others would agree. I love the warm bread that you get with your meal!

We've been eating here almost once a week for 3 years! It is good, fresh, savory food. Portions are large, bread and garlic is the best. We are vegan and there are many options for us to choose from. I have noticed the service has gone down since the expansion...I think the kitchen is having a difficult time keeping up?! Give them time and they will be right back were they were. I don't recommend carryout, which as a rule we NEVER order from anywhere. It is always less than if you were to dine in.

OH MY GOSH... 2nd BEST garlic butter I've ever had. Some of the menu items are a hit or miss but generally pretty good. In fact, I think I'm on my way there after writing this review. Hummus is to die for, and the rice is DEEEElish! The wait staff are pretty good. Dinner is busier than lunch in my experience.

Have eaten there 3 times. Service is little slow, due to so many people there every time I have been there. Dinner salad, lentil soup and garlic sauce and fresh hot bread is great! Just like the old La Shish! Wish we had one in Lansing!

I decided to try this place after reading the reviews. I love Middle Eastern food. I ordered a carry out. Chicken Shawarma Plate, which I was told came with rice or fries and soup or salad. So, I said I would take rice and fattoush and asked for a small side of hummus. I went to pick it up and thought the price was high at $21.18 but since I had been craving it for days, I hoped it would be worth it. When I got home and opened up the bag, the hummus had been put in carelessly and was all over the inside of the bag. It was very thin and that made it worse. I tasted it and it was very bitter. I opened the other two containers and was disappointed at the salad, which soggy. The chicken shawarma was a pile of fatty, dried out dark meat on top of rice that looked like it might be good. The bread was warm and fresh, but the rest of the meal looked so bad that I put it all back in the bag and took it back.

Great food This sounds very weird but their french fries are awesome so creamy not what you expect from Mediterranean cuisine And their chicken and steak are great but the steak is a little salty I would go with the chicken and make sure to ask for garlic sauce with the chicken And their best soup would be lamb chili And huge portions if you're on a diet make sure you split a meal Of course I'm not on a diet very awesome food

If you are coming here today I suggest you call. They are really slammed. Takeout is a 20 minute wait but well worth it the food is great but the Mothers and their families are in full force.

Place still impresses. They have doubled the size of the restaurant and brought in more staff. The food is consistently very good am I am very happy Sheesh is near my house as I eat there at least once a week.

I have been eaten here since their grand opening. There is a reason why they rent next door space and expand... the food is absolutely fantastic, from the free garlic paste and bread to grill meats, to vegetarian dishes, I tired many times there and every time I was satisfied. My favorites are chicken tawook sandwich, stuffed grape leaves with or without lamb, grilled chicken anything, lamb chop!!

We ordered from sheesh many times but it seems that quality is going down hill . Last order lamb in lamb shawarma was so tough and grizzly could not eat, normally lamb should just melt in your mouth, also same order falafel was not done and we found hair in rice. Called manager his reply was thank you for let me know. Been in retail business so many yrs I would never give this answer to a complain but I will do my best to correct the problem. Not sure if we will order from this place again but it's close to us we might give them 1 more chance

We go here for shawarma sometimes and it's always very good. We've never had a problem with the meat being overly dry or fatty which is usually my biggest gripe with shawarma. I love how fresh the pitas are - they're always piping hot out of the oven. Recently we've asked for extra garlic sauce with our take out orders, we get charged for it, and then they didn't give it to us, even when we asked to make sure and were promised it was in the bag. That's happened twice, so next time we'll have to actually go through and make sure for ourselves... Overall though this is a really good place for middle eastern food and I'd definitely recommend it.

The first time I came here they did fine .... I always placed to go orders on every order here. After that they messed up the last four times I came here . Twice forgetting my garlic, then giving me pita bread which wasn't even cooked it was pretty much dough then giving me soggy salad with big chunks of lettuce ... I think I've had my fill of disappointment with this place I'll take the drive and shawarma palace in livonia or drive to canton ...

It was okay. They were out of beef grape leaves, so I settled for vegetarian. They came out cold and the rice was disgusting and undercooked. I won't go here again.

Excellent food, excellent quantity, excellent price! On my most recent visit to Sheesh I was there for a family dinner, so my party was quite large... The owners were very accommodating to our party, pretty much rearranging the restaurant so that we could all sit together. Thank you for being so accommodating and serving consistently great food! Well done, Sheesh!

Not sure how much experience the other reviewers have had with middle eastern cuisine, but this place's food can be summed up in 3 words: bland, bland and bland! Ive never had such tasteless schwarma and my lunch mate, a Lebanese woman, had an equally tasteless shif kafta. Disappointing ng food and nearly nonexistent service. Don't waste your money.

Great food, great atmosphere. You'd barely know it was here, waaay down at the end of the strip mall.

Went here for an early dinner. I had the chicken Tawook salad and my husband had the chicken shawarma. My salad was fresh and topped with a large chicken breast. It was pretty good and I would order it again. My husband, on the other hand, was not so thrilled with his meal. It was quite a large plate of rice and chicken. Not visually appealing at all but definitely large enough for 2 or 3 meals. The chicken was dry and kind of on the bland side. The rice was good. His meal came with a salad which he never got until he was half way through eating. We had to remind the server 2x to bring it. The pita bread was fresh. The garlic sauce was strong but good. There was a steady steam of people coming in to to sit down and for carry out. We might go back again but would rather go to Le George's in downtown Northville.

I have been a loyal Sheesh customer since it opened in 2008. The food has always been delicious. The shish tawook with lemon oregano marinade, shish kafta sandwich, lentil soup, fattoush, and everything I have ever tried has been consistently excellent. The bread and garlic is like heaven on earth. Unfortunately, after regularly dining in and getting take out from here for several years, my past few visits have not left a good impression. Visit 1: I went to pick up takeout. Upon entering the restaurant, a female customer was standing there and looking uncomfortable. She literally ended up standing, waiting to be acknowledged and seated, for almost 5 minutes, even though there were staff members all over the place who could plainly see her. The girl at the takeout counter seemed to be very busy, and she tried to flag down a waitress to help the female customer. The waitress replied rudely, "CAN'T YOU SEE MY HANDS ARE FULL?" and didn't help. Meanwhile, I ended up waiting almost a half hour beyond pickup time for my food, and there was no apology for the wait. Visit 2: I go in here at a not too busy time, (probably about 2pm), with a friend to eat in. The girls at the counter took their time having a conversation right in front of us before acknowledging us. Once we were seated, it took about 5 minutes for a server to come to the table. It was like pulling teeth to get anything from the server. We ordered two sandwiches, which normally don't take long. We waited at least thirty minutes for our sandwiches, and no more bread was offered despite the empty bread basket at the edge of the table. Staff members could clearly be seen goofing off in the back area. Visit 3: This was the last straw. Everything started out fine. We were seated, and service was prompt. The meal was great, as usual. We asked the server for boxes. He took at least 10 minutes doing so, and did not bring the check (one would think that the customer would want the check if asking for a takeout box). Next, we asked for the check, and it took another 10 minutes to get that. Meanwhile, our waiter was in the back area texting or playing on his phone. Considering that cell phones are disgustingly dirty, it was gross to see. We had our money set on the table, we had our jackets on, and we were ready to leave, and it was another 8 minutes or so before he came back. We were about to get up and pay at the counter, but he caught us just in time. I am not sure what the problem is, but I love Sheesh and would really like to continue coming in. I think the solution might be to train counter staff better, and to have more staff at the front counter. The man who I believe is the owner seems to be very involved, and can always be seen in the back of the restaurant. I know that things get busy, but there needs to be a manager or something out on the floor to make sure that everything is going smoothly. Waitstaff does not seem to have any guidance or supervision. If I have had negative experiences on my past 3 visits, there is no doubt that other people have been experiencing the same thing. Sheesh is incredibly popular, and I want it to stay that way! The food is wonderful, but the service needs to match!

Their food is excellent, but do you know what's not excellent? The service. Went there tonight and our waitress -- a young blond woman -- looked like she was in completely over her head. Can I get more iced tea? Sure. It never came. Can I get bread? Sure. It never came. Can I get garlic spread? Sure. It never came.

Really, Really, sorry about this rating... I tries Sheesh based off of the raving reviews of this place, and because its closer to my home. I have to say that if my human garbage disposal was not impressed (the hubs), then I know the food was not 'All That'. We ordered out, so maybe that was our mistake, he had the Zesty Almond Ghallaba and I had the Fattoush and Lentil. I DEFINITELY was not impressed with my meal, although the Hubs' meal smelled wonderful!! I can not really comment on his food... but the pita in my salad was soggy... I thought the pita made the salad... oh well, mistake numero uno. Maybe I have been spoiled by the lentil soup made by Al Oumara (see that review) but the Lentil at Sheesh just did not hit the spot for me! It was just... meh... Bread was hard as a freakin'rock! Mistake number tres!! Definitely will not go back. Two stars for: It's affordability and the nice staff... None for anything else. :)

Only in Detroit... I mean Livonia... Lebanese food isn't a 'thing' in Washington DC, where I currently live so when I travel home to Michigan, the first thing I do is get some Lebanese food. I've traveled a lot and I'm convinced the Detroit area has the most yelp-worthy middle eastern outside of the middle east itself. When in the Detroit area, make sure you try one of these restaurants. I know that their are MANY delish Shwarma houses in the area but I enjoyed the hell out of my meal at Sheesh in Livonia. Like the other reviewers, I grew up on La Shish and I'm happy to find a place that holds a candle to that restaurant (minus shady business practices). The restaurant is located in a strip mall off of 96, and is pretty small but impressive when you walk in and see a blazing fire-oven. We were seated and ordered drinks. My sprite tasted a little flat and syrup-y but that really NBD to me. We got started with hot pita bread which was served with salsa. I have no idea why. I didn't care for it but it was free and so I will not deduct a star for it. We ordered hummus and tabbouleh to share and the hummus was great: very creamy and flavorful. The tabbouleh was fabulous, though. I could taste tons of fresh parsley and it was just so fresh and crisp. Our table ordered a Fattoush salad, a Fattoush with chicken shwarma, and pickles/turnips. All of it was incredible, the fattoush was packed with cucumbers, tomatoes, and tons of warm and crispy fattoush. SO fresh and tasty. The fattoush with chicken was COVERED in chicken and so large that I ate the rest for breakfast today (yep middle eastern food for breakfast is how I do). When you eat lots of middle eastern food, two things start to really matter: the garlic sauce and the turnips. If those items aren't right or unavailable then you know that you're in the wrong place. The turnips at Sheesh were my favorite ever, they were spicy and crunchy and YUM! I really appreciated the spicy-ness to the turnips. I was honestly geeking out about how good they were. The garlic was just as good (and free). I definitely reco this place as the best go-to middle eastern food in the area.

Wow, dinner here was fantastic. We tried it on a visit back to Detroit, still mourning the demise of La Shish. I didn't expect to say that it's just as good as La Shish was. Being a carb lover, a big highlight was the fresh pita delivered hot to the table. I am a big hummus snob and can say unabashedly that Sheesh's hummus was fantastic, creamy and succulent. I got the fattoush tawook--the grilled checken was tender, the fattoush tangy and fresh. Even the service was excellent. Very impressed. We will be back!

I really like this establishment, and the fact that it is really close to where I live! This is definitely a favorite of ours for take out dinners. We prefer to take out, as the dining room is typically full (good sign!) and we are not much for waiting when hungry..lol. Their fresh, oven baked (pita) breads are warm and inviting little pillows of deliciousness. Order a side of their homemade hummus and you have the perfect appetizer (or snack!). The kafta dish with rice (or fries) and a salad is really quite yummy. Think ground lamb with exotic spices grilled to perfection served with almond rice pilaf. I always upgrade my salad to a small fattoush. This salad is a delicious green salad with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and an "oily" dressing, topped with crisp pita strips. My husband enjoys their falafel sandwiches a lot.

I just tried this restaurant for the first time last month and I love it!!!! I have only ordered carry-outs a few times but it has been excellent and they give you a lot of food for the price. The pita bread is baked hot and fresh from the oven all day long and their Fattoush salad is the best!!! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fresh, healthy, wholesome meal!

This used to be my very favorite place to go, until this happened. My best friend who had just delivered ordered one of their salads and got it home and found a cockroach in it!!! What was worse was that when she called they made no apology for it and refused to refund her! I will never ever go here again!! Disgusting!

A co worker introduced me to mediterranean food with this restaurant, and I've been obsessed ever since. They have vegan dishes that are just divine. I LOVE their falafel and hummus. Oddly their french fries are pretty delicious as well, especially dipped into the hummus!! They are VERY busy around lunch time, for good reason, but are always on time with your pick ups (and friendly!). The pita bread is fired up right in front of you, and the smell will drive you crazy with excitement. They give you a crap ton of it when you're dining in or picking up an order. It's such a great price for the quality and the quantity. I have yet to find anywhere better than this restaurant for mediterranean food.

Best arabic food outside of dearborn. Actually it's better than a lot of places in dearborn. Go when they're not busy and the food is 10x better. Try the lentil soup---maybe skip the tabbouleh, which is just ok.

My go to place for Fatoush and Homous with fresh baked pita bread, especially when I'm alone for dinner. Ken likes Mediterranean food, but not as much or often as I do. Bright, fresh dressing and crispy pita chips on the salad. A small, not on the menu, is under $5, and that includes fresh pita if you ask nicely. Tangy, creamy homous doesn't need lemon to make it zing. I've eaten in but feel more comfortable taking my dinner home, snacking on hot, hot bread as I drive. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant. Delish garlic sauce!

Went here for the first time today. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine who used to waitress here. I've had a La Shish craving ever since I left Michigan 5 years ago. Sheesh didn't disappoint. It was the closest to La Shish that I've had in a long time. I had the Tenderloin Sajji. It was delicious! It was a big portion too so I have enough for lunch tomorrow. I'm not a fan of rice so I ordered the french fries instead. They were ok...they were the frozen zesty type. While they were edible, I would have preferred the home fries that La Shish used to make. Other than that, I was more than satisfied. So happy to find this place for great Lebanese food.

I was not happy that the manager, owner, or any staff members apologized when they gave me the wrong carryout order. Not only did they not apologize, they failed to remake my original order that had been sitting on the counter for at least 45 minutes especially after a guy told me that he would get me fresh bread and shawarma sandwiches (the same guy who took my original order). It's unfortunate that I won't be coming back here because I really like the food and the restaurant after the remodel. The staff wasn't always friendly, but until this incident, they were tolerable.

I think this is the bottom of the barrel of any middle eastern food place. Wifey brought home some tawook sandwichs and some hummus with a salad. Everything sucked. The bread was like old and crumbly. There hummus tastes dry and old. My wife didn't get any feta in here salad. We won't be eating here again.

I am not happy with this restaurant. First off my wife had to wait over a half hour for our carry out. She saw people come in place their order and leave before she got hers. When she got home our salad was missing, so now I have to make a special trip back there to get it. The shawarmas were half the size of any other restaurant we have been too. The kibbee nayee was very small also. Again, half the size of any other restaurant we have been too, especially at 10.50 an order. No problem, we won't be back.

We've been coming here for years and LOVE the staff/service. So expensive for the quality, but if you're craving garlic and shwarma then it will meet your needs! If you're wanting to dump money on Mediterranean, then head to northville and eat at le George- better ambiance and amazing shish kabobs.

This was the second visit for my wife and I, and it was just okay. First problem was when my coffee arrived at the table, with coffee spilled onto the saucer. The waitress saw it but offered no napkins to soak up the spilled coffee. Okay now, let's pick up the cup and lean over the table so it doesn't drip on your shirt. When the orders made it out to us, the wife's chicken shawarma sandwich was dry, while my lamb kabob sandwich was alright. After eating and waiting for the dishes to be cleared, our waitress stopped by and dropped off the bill. Wait a minute (we said), we'd like to order a rice pudding to split. Well, the rice pudding was very good, but after the updated bill was dropped off, our waitress never stopped by to take it up. After several minutes (during which the waitress had gone by us a couple of times) my wife took the check up to the cash register and paid. So the waitress got a $3- tip on a $24- bill. When we get a bill in a restaurant, we're not only paying for good food, we're paying for good service as well. Sheesh falls short in the service end.

We have recently discovered Lebanese food and have ordered carryout from 3 joints in Livonia - Green Cedar, Fattoush Village and Sheesh. The pita bread at Sheesh far surpasses the other two (homemade, as opposed to being purchased from West Fenkell bakery) , but the menu prices are higher. We paid $39 for two chicken shwarma dinners, rice, fattoush salad & hummus. We'll be eating leftovers tomorrow night (and possibly the night after that!), but we'd have paid about $25 for a similar order at Fattoush Village or Green Cedar. Best pita bread - Sheesh Best garlic spread - Fattoush Village Best hummus, fattoush salad and chicken shwarma - Green Cedar

I grew up in Livonia, so naturally I was deeply in love with La Shish and was devastated when it closed. Thankfully, Sheesh came along and made everything alright again! Tastes just like La Shish, from the entrees to the "salsa" that they serve with their pita bread. Apparently a lot of the chefs are the ones that used to work at La Shish. Always large portions and excellent food. Ever since I was a little kid I've ordered the Houmous Chicken with lentil soup, and I've never been disappointed. Whenever I'm back in the Metro Detroit area I make a point to come by and get my Lebanese fix!

I love this place. From the lentil soup to the Mjadra, the food is so flavorful and the fresh pita with the salsa and garlic is great. I ordered takeout and when I got there the line was to the door, I guess I'm not the only one who thinks this place is #1. Whenever I visit Michigan, Sheesh, is a mandatory place for a meal.

I had been mad craving some Mediterranean ever since I wrote the review for Pita Pita, and thought I would give this place a try since it is so close to my house. I got carry out, which may be part of the low rating (I didn't have a server to help sell me on the place) and why this place did not impress me in the least. I ordered a chicken shwarma sandwich (no pickle), an order hummus and an order of tabbouleh. I figured this would give me a good sense of whether this was going to be my new go-to place or not. Here's what I got: the shwarma sandwich and a hummus and tabbouleh sandwich. Admittedly, my first tip-off should have been the amount I paid for the order- $7 something, but I thought maybe they had little baby servings of my two favorite med. foods. Carry out FAIL. I realized the misunderstanding when I received my bag and it contained two sandwiches but was so hungry I left without bringing the mistake to their attention. Being as ravished as I was, I devoured the hummus and tabbouleh sandwich on my way home. More t than h, I did enjoy this sandwich, but couldn't really taste the hummus well enough to decide if it was up to my standards (garlicy, creamy, a lil lemon, texture to die for). When I got home i tried what turned out to be the worst shwarma sandwich I have ever eaten. The chicken was dry, rubbery and nearly tasteless. The garlic sauce was nearly non existent- a big no-no for this garlic sauce loving girl. And that was all that the sandwich was- like a drop of garlic sauce, and pasty, yucky chicken. I made me wish I had gotten the pickle after all- just to have had a little moisture to help swallow. This was a total let down after craving some serious med/leb. food. Seriously, it was that bad. While this is quite a harsh review, I will say I intend to try this place one more time- possibly dining in on the next go. Maybe it was an off day, who knows. The true test of a bad restaurant is whether it is *consistently* bad.

Good food and nice staff. The bread there is fantastic! If you are calling in a take out order and the nice lady or the man on the phone tells you "15 minutes" give it more like 25. Very good food, diverse menu. The decor is so-so, kind of cheaply done, but the food and the wait staff make up for it. This place gets packed for lunch so get there early to late..dinner time waits are usually only a few minutes.

Took the entire family here for mother's day. It was the RIGHT choice. Every meal was perfect. This place has to be near the top of the best bang for the buck for all of western wayne county! However their quality is inconsistent lately.

Wow. we usually head over to Dearborn for Mid Eastern, but this evening decided to try Sheesh which is right down the street. I called and ordered a sampler and was far from disappointed in quantity and quality. I had expected everything to be in styrofoam containers and was pleasently surprised at the presentation. And I have to mention the bread, which was fresh and warm. VERY full and we have so much leftover...
