I'm a Livonia resident by marriage and Dale Yee's is a Livonia resident staple. We order carryout maybe twice a month. The food is hot, fresh, and tasty. Our order is always correct. We order because it's local and convenient. I grew up on Kim's Garden in Novi and no one beats their egg rolls to me. I give 4 stars because egg rolls are my favorite part and they are missing something here.

When I used to live in the area as a little kid this was the place my family got Chinese food from. Now that I am older it is awful. First of all the decor NEEDS an update. Even though I was not born yet, I am positive this place was last updated in the 1970's. It even smells old and dirty. The inside smells at least bare able. I don't think I could stand in the lobby for more than a couple of minutes. The 70's carpet you see in every " Red booth" Chinese restaurant is there as well as the usual pictures, table, chairs, lighting etc. Was this the design of all Chinese restaurants in the 70's? Also there is absolutely no natural light. The won ton soup was decent. I've definitely had better but that's not the problem. I love Vegetable Lo Mein so when I went today I decided to try it from here. They serve it on these silver tray's you open it and it's slimy. It smelled terrible to begin with but when I took a bite it was disgusting. Mushy, slimy sauce that had a strange distinct taste. Awful! I was not a fan of the noodles either. The texture was not Lo Mein noodles, it reminded me of Ramon Noodles. So NOT high quality. I have never had worse Lo Mein anywhere. Just terrible. The poultry dishes are decent. If it wasn't for the Lo Mein I may have given this place 3 Stars and that's being generous. At the end of the terrible meal of Lo Mein, we got fortune cookies. Mine had no fortune. Looking back today's dining experience was a little funny. Considering I had no fortune and after we ordered our waitress ( Most likely the owner) screamed our order at the top of her lungs in the kitchen. You could hear her from the dining room. Things to remember: - Slimy and Mushy Lo Mein. - Lobby smells terrible. - In desperate need of an update.

First I would say make sure you read the filtered reviews!!! I live near Dales Yees and multiple other Chinese restaurants in the Livonia area. Now, I have to admit it's not the best area for Chinese even though there a numerous restaurants within a few miles. I get CARRY OUT from Dale Yees about once a month. I'm a big fan of the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the egg rolls. I could care less about the Hawaiian rolls they server. I admit im not very adventourous when it comes to Chinese food but I have had a few other dishes here and they were good. I also admit that I have never eaten inside Dale Yees. It does have the typical Chinese food smell when you walk in and im not a big fan of that. The inside is dated but is decorated in the typical Chinese theme. If your looking for a PF Change type restaurant this is not for you. This is your typical carboard box (or styrofoam here) Chinese restaurant that is less than $10 for a lot of food that puts you in a carb coma if you eat the entire meal! Wish I had some right now!

This is one of those places you have to have been going to since you were a little kid. I have friend's and neighbor's that just rave about how great it is. ????? For what? it is not good at all. What's with the rolls? Yes I know the elderly customers love the rolls. But great Chinese restaurants don't serve rolls. And the food is just not very good. The decor is dingy and hasn't been updated since the early 70's. But the place is filled with people so I'm just not sure what to think. With all of the great choices for Chinese in the area, I won't be going back.

I usually only order carry out but, I agree with the other reviewers about the decor, It's pretty bad. The food is decent enough for the price / quantity.

What a night! This place was hilarious. The waitress we had may have been the owner and I wouldn't have been surprised if she was shot gunning red bulls behind the rice paper wall. She was barking orders at us like we were in the military and demanding orders. Although we were all nervous to make a mistake while ordering the food we did end up with was great. Not the best chinese I've ever had but it was standard "red booth" chinese. Not many people get the red booth chinese restaurant reference but it seems like when you go into a classic chinese restaurant with the little pond, archway, golden doors...etc they have red booths. Either way it was a great dinner and I would go back.

ok, it's true the decor is dated and that they serve rolls-but, the food is good, sort of "comfort food" chinese. and I happen to like the server people speak of--gives the place character. as to the place that other person spoke of down the street-- just your opinion, because mine is the total opposite. so, jump in your hot tub time machine and try this place.

I'm going to have to go ahead and respectfully disagree with Nathan L. "Red booth" or not, this is simply the best Chinese food I've had (although, I must admit I've never been to China). And that's all, folks!

Being a noob to the area, my wife and I have been looking for a staple Chinese food resturaunt that we could rely on for good take out, and a nice and clean location to go to. Well, we have been able to test Dale Yee's out, and so far, I am very impressed. One night we decided to give it a go, and ended up just picking up some carry out. The food was super fresh, the portions were pretty generous, and the flavor that was in all of the food made it very hard to put down. I look forward to trying this place out in person so that I can sample their soup!

My husband and I love love Asian food, so we were excited to try this place. We typically order take-out which is what we did here. Placing the order was a little difficult, there was no online menu so we kind of winged it and ordered popular food items that any place of this kind might have. The lady taking our order over the telephone was fairly rude and impatient with me as I tried to make my order. The price was average. We ordered enough food for the both of us to last a few days and it came to about $30. When I went in to pick it up the lady who helped me was super kind and friendly which made up for the rudeness I experienced from the other employee. We were really disappointed by the food. Actually so disappointed that we threw away the majority of it. Things were under and over cooked, and the lo mein was just not normal lo mein. We wouldn't eat here again, such a waste of money and we were really disappointed.

Awful food, chicken still tasted uncooked and frozen inside, dingy and dirty inside, older nasty bathrooms, disappointing experience

My wife and I just love this place. We use to live close and we would eat here almost every week, I moved a little distance away and still try to grab a carryout at least once a month. There are not any Chinese restaurants that are any good by new house. So we will continue to make the almost 30 mile drive to Dale Yees!

I've been eating here for years and never had any issues. Sanitary issues is a big thing for me when I eat out, and nothing like that has been an issue here. Food is always soo good. I love the sweet n sour chicken and their won ton soup. Also they have really good chicken fried rice. Definitely five stars

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Livonia area. The food is consistent and fantastic. They also have quick service for carry outs. My only critique would be the decor which is a little outdated.

My sister, daughter, and I picked up take out last Saturday night. We ordered two orders of almond chicken and an order of cashew chicken, it was horrific. We had to throw everything away. If there was a way to give it zero stars we would!!!

Excellent general chicken, not to much breading and the sauce was spiced just right. The egg rolls were good too. Service was fast and the waitress was always nearby to offer refills and our water and tea.

I give them one star because of the flavors it's to strongly over done. (over seasoning). It just not for me even though I love Asian cuisines. As far the price it's fair and very relaxing place. Love the atmosphere.

I have been getting food here since I was a child. This is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurants. Since moving out of the area I have not found a almond chicken that comes close to comparing. If I am having a really strong craving I will still make the 45min drive. I see everyone complaining about the decor. What old school Chinese restaurant have you walked into and said, "hey this place is really nicely decorated." Yes it is dated but it is really not that bad. The hot mustard is the best around and I have never had a better plum sauce. Most of the wait staff do not speak great English so they are to the point and don't hang around to chat, but they have never made the dining experience negative. I wish I lived closer so I could get Dale Yees more often!

I will drive out of my way to get their food. I have been eating at Dale Yee's since I was a kid and it's still the best Chinese food in the area. Too many places are the strip mall, frozen tasting, overly breaded Chinese places now and I hate that. This is your basic Chinese restaurant style food..and they do it really well! I usually do carry out and the order is always correct and the portions are large. I've tried so many things on the menu I can't even review each menu item. The décor is outdated but exactly what you would expect at an old school Chinese restaurant. I can't wait until the next time I get carry out dinner from them!!! It's my special carry out treat!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
