This place is a nostalgic favorite for the locals. Alas I am not one! My objective opinion is that red pepper is mediocre at best. The salsa is unremarkable, the chips are very bland (how can you not even get chips right?). I had the fajita. It wasn't horrible but without great salsa I didn't even finish the shells I had. So unless you are a local pass it by!

Red Pepper III is a purveyor of a specialty type of "mexican" I have only experienced in the Port Huron area. To start off tables get homemade chips and salsa. The salsa is served in clear ketchup squirt bottle and comes in a mild and hot. Neither which are all that hot, but both are tasty. Try both and usually the fresher bottle is better. The other hallmark of Port Huron Mexican food is the jumbo burrito. The jumbo is a huge loosely rolled burrito of iceberg, cheese, meat, tomatoes and beans. Being vegan I get it with beans & rice, no meat no cheese. Jumbos usually come with sauce and sour cream. Hold the sour cream for vegan but you can still have the sauce which is a weird concoction of spices and oil. It's not the worlds greatest food but it gets you buy when in the area, and I am sure you will come to love it as the locals do.

the Wadhams restaurant is the best! The food is tasty and not expensive. They could work on their salsa...make it a little tastier, but it is a lot better than other Mexican places.

Simply gross. I ordered beef and chicken enchiladas and I couldn't even eat them and I'm not too picky. They were literally microwaved on a plastic plate with the enchilada sauce burned along the edges of the plate from being microwaved too long. To confirm, I asked if they microwaved my food and she said yes. How disgusting!! Plastic in the microwave!?! Really!?! I would at least take the time to microwave the sauce separately, stir it and then place over the food. My mother dined with me. She ordered the chicken fajita. I took a bite of hers and the chicken they use is just cheap frozen strips they heat in the microwave also. Not my idea of good food. My mother of course did not complain. I'm doing it for her. I have been to many good Mexican resturants and this place is far from good. It's simply gross.

Hometown nostalgia. There are several Red Pepper locations now, but I always go to this one since it's near my Mom's house. It is impossible to top Taco Tuesday - 50 cent corn and 70 cent flour tortilla tacos with free chips and salsa. The kicker is that it's absolutely delicious as well!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
