Nice Chinese restaurant. Food was good overall. The wonton soup was delicious and the General Tso's was good, a little spicier than most places, which is nice. It was a huge portion. For some reason I didn't like the egg roll, either the wrapper wasn't good or the fryer oil needed to be changed. The hot mustard was really good and strong. Unfortunately they don't have brown rice. The waitress takes your order with a mini iPad and later swipes your credit card at your table so the service was really quick.

This is my favorite Chinese food place in Michigan! I live in Metro Detroit and there's tons of Chinese places and Yen King beats them all! Every time I come to Jackson I usually go straight to Yen King.

Not bad. Better than your average Americanized Chinese restaurant. My buddy swears by their Mongolian beef, and even took a few orders to-go. I had the Singapore rice noodles, which was very good and similar to others I've had elsewhere. Clean place, attentive service, ok prices. If you're Jonesing for Chinese food in this area, Yen King is a safe bet. Some GPS's will place Yen King at 2100 Bondsteel Dr.

We took a chance and stopped here for lunch. Great place. Food was top notch. I had the Mongolian beef and it was super. I would certainly stop here again. There was a nice choice between regular dishes and a hot selection. My husband and I like it hot so we chose that.

Our experience was good, we ordered take out a few times and the food was always really nice. Good portion sizes, good taste. Always on time, no mistakes. Never ate inside so can't comment on the service. Happy to have found the place.

I have never been disappointed with my experience. I always call ahead and it's ready for me when I get there. The orange chicken is my favorite

Absolutely the worst Chinese food we've have eaten so far. As we were being seated the table next to us were mad and paid for there drinks and left that should of been out que to follow. I asked our server a few questions about a item on the menu since it was our first time there and all he said was yes or no very rude like I was bothering him or something. Service was horrible waited 45 min for our food to come and it was COLD. I was nervous to give it back I didn't now how long it would take to come back to me My Husband watch him put it in the microwave and walk away from it. We timed it 8 mins later and it was warm. The eggroll was disgusting and on the verge of being burnt. The portion size of the food are super small for the price. Needless to say I was sick all night long. I wouldn't feed these food to Rats!! YUCK

Great American Chinese food. Classic 70's decor, come in and rub the Giant Buddha's belly. Best chinese food you will ever have in a old Bill Knapp's building.

A very pleasant surprise. Friendly service and excellent good. The WonTon soup was very tasty with lots of meat. Definitely better then most of the other ones I've had. Chicken curry same: generous portion of meat. The bowl of rice was good too but a little too small. Overall a great place to eat some good Chinese food.

Yen King still has the best Chinese food in Jackson but the value for the dollar has gotten less in recent years. The high prices used to be justified by the large portions that were served. While some items still give you this value most portion sizes have been cut drastically. The worst value is the kids meal, $5 for two tiny pices of chicken and a tiny portion of fries. I won't be ordering for my kids from the kids meals again, instead will order dinner items to share.

Burped up the food all night. Whatever is going on in the kitchen is not fresh. Prices are high for what you get.

This is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to and that includes restaurants in Chicago's Chinatown. It's all cooked to order and they also have a full bar. I'm not going to lie, the prices are high for Chinese but in my opinion it's well worth it. I've never had a bad meal here. I definitely recommend it.

Best Chinese in town. Crab rangoons are amazing and the general tso chicken is to die for. Everything is made fresh and the owner is really nice.

I think this is the best place for chinese food in jackson. I have only had the take-away food, but each time it has been a consistent and tasty meal. I have had the potstickers and princess chicken. I do not care for the egg rolls though.

I've eaten here one before and wasn't impressed but I thought I'd give it another chance... First of all, the prices are ridiculous. I ordered the sweet & sour shrimp with white rice and an egg roll and an order of crab rangoon and paid almost$20! I assumed it came with rice and an egg roll, as most Chinese meals do; but I was wrong. They charged me for a tiny egg roll that tarred like it was freezer burned and was awful. It tasted like all the ingredients, including way too many spices, had been good process and stuffed. It was awful. The crab rangoons were a joke. There were 4, bite sized pieces with cream cheese and nothing else inside and I paid $4 for them. The entree was a little better, but not overly impressive. The portion size was mediocre as far as Chinese restaurants go. The sauce was so sugary and tart it was almost too rich to eat and the shrimp was almost all batter with tiny shrimp that were a joke. I've had worse, but not much; and for the price, it was unacceptable. I gave them a second chance and will not give them a third.

Yenking is a restaurant near where my parents used to work. I have fond memories of meeting them here for lunch or picking up lunch here and taking it to their offices. This wasn't the first place I've had chinese food, or the closest to where I lived, but I still think this is the best chinese food I've had in Michigan or anywhere. Yenking is in an old Bill Knapps building, but has since been painted red. Interestingly enough, Bill Knapps wanted a larger space so they built a new Bill Knapps right next to the old Bill Knapps. But now Bill Knapps is no longer, but there are two Bill Knappsian buildings right next to each other. I think that Yenking has the most delicious food. I often enjoyed the different dishes. They have excellent sauces and flavors. The food is always fresh and very tasty. I really like the egg drop soup. The egg rolls are pretty standard. The menu has the full range of a traditional American Chinese menu. I have never been disappointed by a meal here and I can't wait to get back and have it again sometime.

Food is not very good. You get the feeling that they have a huge amount of precooked chicken and about eight different sauces in the back. Nothing unique, nothing worth making the trip for.

Yenking is simply the best Chinese food in the area. I've been eating there since 1999 and the food and service is excellent; the owners are very nice people. I recommend the Princess Chicken!

I read the yelp reviews and gave this place a try while traveling. Probably should have left right away when the odor of garbage hit us at the door. Also, ice water was very bleach-tasting but that might be how it is in Jackson. Menu was promising. Inside of crab Rangoon was good-had green onion so that was a plus. Sweet and sour sauce was good. Yen king lo-mein was fine. Rice seemed cheap. Yen king cocktail was fine. Yen king chicken was adequate but there has to have been a better choice. The sesame beef was really where things went south-had to send it back bc the meat tasted too old and reheated. Egg roll had more meat than cabbage so that was different and decent. Since I'm not from Jackson, I don't know if this town has a better option for Chinese but I would seek it out.

They offer inexpensive combination meals along with a full menu. Place was packed with regulars. I started out with a Hot and Sour soup. Very lovely taste. Pleasantly spicy. Egg Roll Served with a spicy mustard. Too much mustard will clear your sinuses. Garlic Chicken for the main course. Everything served smoking hot. Food is good boarder line great. I give them a 4.5. Service spot on. Fast and friendly. Clean facility. Nice decor.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
