I've been a long-time customer of the Hunt club. I remember when it was an old location just across the parking lot and the move to the new location. I was always a huge fan of the chips and cheese and chicken fingers and nacho cheese. A large handful of years ago they changed their nacho cheese two cheddar cheese, as customers were complaining that the nacho cheese was too spicy. Needless to say that the love of the nacho cheese meal dissipated. I recently had the chips and cheese while watching the football game and it has not improved. The cheese was thin and tasted like cheddar cheese with a mix of Tabasco sauce. While it was edible it was definitely not a typical nacho cheese. Also it had about twice the amount of chips for my cheese container and I only did one vertical dip per chip. On a positive note the waitstaff at the game bar was great. And the Buffalo chicken roles were fantastic. Also a huge fan of the steak bites as well. I still like this location for drinks and watching games. The atmosphere is comfy but not super loud like other locations.

I would have expected prime rib like this at Denny's, but not here. Super thin no marbeling, grilled on both sides, and I asked for rare. I would guess these are frozen slices from costco

We had just completed a walkthrough of the Jackson Underground haunted house and felt like we could use a tasty drink. The parking lot attendant recommended the Hunt Club and so we went. I personally liked the lodge-style interior with the large fireplace. And I am always a fan of long bars, so I was pleased with the recommendation. We ordered a glass of wine, a cider, and a beer. They were moderately priced and served quickly. We didn't order any food, nor did we look at a menu so I am not able to speak to their offerings. But we felt comfortable enough to stay for a couple of rounds and enjoyed our time. If we find ourselves in that nook of Jackson again, we very well may stop in again.

Nice interior but very cold inside, it must be hard to heat, with the tall ceilings. Ordered the burrito, not so good. The burger would have been a better choice. The onion rings were yummy. Soft drinks are $3 bucks yikes. Won't be back. Might be nice on the patio in the summer.

I went here a few times because it was so highly suggested when I moved to Jackson, but the food was average and the servers were awfully slow. My steak was brought well done and I ordered it medium rare, and another time my fries came out cold.

Nothing really to say the food is pretty good. No drink specials but I must say the staff is very friendly and attentive. I like it because of the game machines.

Huge family place. Bring the kids, expect cheap food, long waits for drinks and to spot your waitress, bad service and your kids to bug the crap out of you for quarters to use in the game room. The location is down the street from the Cascade falls and across the street from The Parlour ice cream shop. I think the choice of Hunt Club was more for the location than the food. Gosh I hope we don't have to go back there for another family birthday for a very long time if ever. No healthy options on the menu. Eat before you go if you are watching macros.

Home of the Wiley Potato! What more need I say? Hamburger, melted cheese, mushrooms, onions, special secret seasonings, all in one (1pound) Idaho potato! Now tell me that isn't mouth-watering goodness! Best chicken tenders on this side of the Mississippi. Myself, I tend to head towards the buffalo chicken rolls - which are fantastic! How could I also forget to mention? They have an arcade. I repeat, they have an arcade. Overall, if you enjoy multitasking by playing skeeball and eating stuffed potatoes, the Hunt Club is for you!!!!!!!

I've been here for drinks and for dinner a few times. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders were nice. There is a small arcade with a basketball hoop, which could make a drinking night a little interesting. Now for the food...it's all around fairly good. You can't go wrong when you make decent burgers and have specialties like the Wiley Potato, which was quite enjoyable. There are some things I'll need to try and then reevaluate my rating. I do recommend this place for hanging out with some brews and chowing down on some good American pub food.

This place has really gone downhill over the past few years. The quality of food isn't up to par. The last two times I've been, my meal arrived lukewarm at best. Even when the place is nearly empty, it takes FOREVER for your food to get served. I don't know if the kitchen is the hold up or the wait staff or both. The service is dreadful. Takes ages to get your food, refills, to get checked on, and especially to get your bill and cash out. Do not come here if you have any sort of time constraint!

Wow. What a disappointment. My friends had been talking about going to the Hunt Club and talked it up highly after going there for lunch a couple weeks ago. I was in town for the weekend, so we went on a Friday night for dinner - the atmosphere was great, but the food and service was AWFUL! Three of the four of our meals (all fish) were cold. My deep-fried cod was RAW. When we alerted our server to this, she took the meals back to the kitchen. Since we were seated by the kitchen, we watched the cook put our meals in the microwave to warm them. If you've ever had deep-fried fish before, you know that this is a no-no. The fish came back and was just a god-awful raw, rubbery and greasy mess. Unfortunately, our server put our plates down and dashed, never to be seen again. We had to ask a bus boy for a manager. The manager gave us 25% off of our meals and offered free dessert. I told her that we weren't ready for dessert when our meals had been inedible. She offered nothing other than the 25% off and that she'd "talk to her cooks about the preparation of the meal." Unfortunately, even after the discount, our bill still came to $60 for inedible food. What a waste. I won't be visiting the Hunt Club in Jackson again.

Fries were slightly warm. Wiley chips lacked the cheese compared to a year ago. Chips were not fresh. Not sure if I'll return soon.

Terrible food and service. Last two times there food was awful. Had BLT and bacon was rubbery, tried the 'seafood' quesadilla, all imitation. Way overpriced. Don't plan on returning....ever.

Good food and service. This Hunt Club in Jackson has a neat interior that feels like a cabin with a large fireplace in the center. They also have a game room for the kids, or drinking adults. Kind of dark, but nice. The menu has not changed a lot over the years, so they still have many of my favorites. I like the Wiley Potato which is a large over-stuffed potato with ground beef, mushrooms, onion, and cheese. I also like going there for lunch because they have good daily specials. Overall this is a great place for cocktails after work, or for a good lunch or dinner in a casual atmosphere.

Definitely will be back. I had the lunch special with my boyfriend. Chicken-spinach salad and black-bean chili. He had a turkey pretzel sandwich (it was a little heavy). But all was good and well-priced. Their appetizer bread was also very tasty. The service was good-but it should be as there was not a crowd in there at the time. We will be back...I think their lunch specials are the way to go. The atmosphere is also pretty enjoyable with animal heads on the wall, a large fireplace and nice light fixtures. A very mountain cabin feel.

Great place to eat. We had a party of 12 and were seated and served quickly. The Cuban sandwich is incredible! The Reuben is also a great choice. You can't go wrong.

I have been here a couple of times. I have had the Dagwood sandwich once before and it is A LOT of sandwich. Only order this is your are prepared to eat it and take a while to digest. You may want to share it with more than one person if you are that eager to try it. It is definitely worth trying. The Dale's Dills are a must. (Beer Battered Deep Fried Pickles....enough said). There is not a huge beer selection, but you have your choice between a large or small glass....the small glass, in the end, is a better deal. There is a full bar. The servers are great. Jen & Rhonda have been fantastic and attentive. They make my dining experience here a whole lot of fun every time! They also have Club Keno on TVs which appears to be popular with the locals.

I have visited the Hunt Club on several occasions now and am always severely underwhelmed. The food is okay. Very standard sandwiches and burgers. the sandwiches are in general very large, but they should be for their average $9.99 a sandwich price. In my opinion everything in there is priced a little too high for what it is. Its typical bar and grill food, there are no real standouts or twists. Everything I've had here has been good but nothing has been great. The by far low point is, as someone else said, the waitstaff. The last time I was there was with a large group and out waitress was completely MIA. There were many times that someone in our group wanted to order something and she was no where to be found. I can only imagine the amount of money lost by the missed drink refilling. My husband even joked at one point that we could have easily walked out on out $60 bill and know one would have even noticed. The place is lucky we are honest people or we very well could have. I will probably end up there again, as the options for large groups in Jackson are limited, but I doubt it will ever be somewhere I will be super excited to go to.

  • Doug B.

Food is always good, but would like to see add-ons such as salsa come fresh and not a pre-packaged container on the side of my place touching my food. From a factory somewhere to touching my food is a turn off.

  • Michael B.

This is an oversized yuppie 30-something singles bar. Even with two bars this is not family friendly. Service is awful and there is never a supervisor present. Extremely expensive for mediocre food. Unless you need to hang out with other singles pretending you have money then drive away!

    (2)
  • Britt N.

I would chose no stars. Horrible service. They will not hire anyone of color. Men working in the back and women serving. How very 30's of them. Anyway, food is awesome, but the service will most likely piss you off enough to not even like the food. Stay away from this place.

The Hunt Club has been the main bar/restaurant in Jackson for years. It has a large game room for kids. It is quite a large place so it can accomodate large groups. The food is good but not great. It's a typical midwest menu so if you're a vegetarian then go somewhere in Ann Arbor because there isn't much for you except maybe cheese pizza, a potato, soup, or a salad. I recommend the steak bites or the dagwood. Anyone from Jackson knows where this place is as it is also a popular nightlife spot. There is no dancing but there are several areas including a pizza parlour bar in the back. It's generally a decent crowd and the hoodlums don't really venture in here as much as they do other places. Service is sub par in my opinion. If you know the bartender then you'll get taken care of but other than that they are pretty slow. I've never had to wait too long for a meal at a table though. It's worth a visit. The atmosphere is good but the bar service is slow and the food is average.

OMG!!! The largest BLT I have ever tried to eat. Very good value for the money and a HUGE place. The only negative was the main course came out a minute after the appetizers arrived at the table...

  • Matt R.

I suppose by Jackson MI standards, this is an okay place. Kinda smoky & local-yocal-ish. Decent food, fairly cheap drinks, but poor service. Went here for a work holiday party last night. The room was dark 10 minutes before the party, heat was not even on. The servers were overworked for our group. The pizza & breadsticks were the lone shining star. Very good for sure. Probably not going to go out of my way to go here again, but if I am in the neighborhood...maybe.

The Hunt Club is a great place to come with friends, especially in groups and is certainly unique for Jackson. The interior is a lush hunting lounge, with games for the kiddies on one side and a rustic central fireplace to survive those cold winter nights in Michigan. Needless to say, this place is popular! That said, do not come here to eat if you are vegetarian or vegan. Likewise, do not eat here if you have anything against eating like a proud bachelor. Nearly every sauce is served in a single serving, factory sealed portion. They taste fine, but you will be peeling the lid off your salsa. The nacho cheese sauce is a close relative of nacho cheez-whiz, warmed and poured into a dip bowl. The butter and sour cream for your potato are all safely sealed in foil, too. Thus, it is proud bachelor food! Tasty, but not classy. Vegetarians, be warned that there are dead mounded animals and heads all around. After all, it's called The Hunt Club. Vegetarian options include a range of fried appetizers, or ... now I'm not kidding here... a baked potato or burrito filled with STIR FRY VEGGIES. It's as gross as it sounds; my spouse had the burrito and although it looked pretty, it is not fun to eat a tex-mex burrito filled with snow peas. I specifically asked for a potato with just cheese and broccoli and the waitress had to find out if they had broc. They do. I suggest that option if you are veg and must eat here. Please, Hunt Club, just buy a couple of boxes of Boca Burger's Prime Grillers and keep 'em in the freezer for the occasional, sad little vegetarian who comes in with their friends or family. I asked the waitress for help on veg items, and she did not mention the pizza that the other reviewer had...so we didn't try that or even notice it. Ok, so for the meat eaters, here is the word from the friends we dined with. The club sammies are HUGE and come in a basket with thick, tasty fries. The cheese sticks are yummy, but served in a huge basket that dwarfs them. Beer is a natural here, so drink up. Baked potatoes are kinda small, and fit for a small lunch. The Deer's Ears appetizers were disappointing as they are just scooped out tater halves, baked, with a cup of nacho cheez-whiz for dipping. Steak got the thumbs up. Generally service was great, although our large group (20+) overwhelmed our waitress. That said, I was shocked to learn we had no reservation but they were able to seat and serve our group without problems. Bathrooms are clean and attractive. The venue is very handicapped accessible, with tables near the restrooms to make it all the easier if you're on wheels. Long front ramp ensures easy entry, so no worries. Our chairs had no arms, so they're also suitable for larger customers. Booths are available, too, as are taller bistro style bar tables and chairs. Yes, this place is huge.
