The restaurant is very humble in size and decorations. But with one step into its doors, you are greeted by an incredible aroma of Yemeni food being cooked up in the kitchen. The gentleman who helped us, Abu Rayyan, was kind and suggested a few dishes. It was the first time that my husband and I had tried Yemeni food so we were glad that he was so helpful! We first started off with soup and salad. Both were fantastic! The flavor of the soup was savory yet light, and the salad had a homemade dressing unlike any I had tried before. Our first entree was the Fahsa. The meat was cooked off the bone and oh so tender. Because it was cooked in a clay pot, the dish was still simmering when it was served. We ate this with the fresh baked bread and by the end of our lunch, there was nothing left of it. We also ordered a half chicken plate and a lamb plate...both were fabulous as well!

On my pursuit of the Bizarre Foods Detroit episode reenactment, Sheeba was on my list to try out their Lamb Kidney Sub. If you've ever been to the Middle East, well, save the plane ticket. When you walk in, you're transported to a small restaurant that could be easily mistaken for an Middle Eastern authentic place. It has the music, the tv shows, the clientele, and the FOOD. I don't think there is any wasting of lamb in this place. If it's slaughtered for me to eat, why not eat it all right? We were not expecting to get Lamb Soup, just the Lamb Kidney Sub, but we easily were talked into soup by our server. How can I turn down Lamb Soup? It's one I've never tried nor heard. You can see that I can only imagine what parts of the Lamb are cooked in it, but it's definitely slowly simmered in the meat and bones. It has a deep meaty flavor of lamb, really to the point that you think you're cutting into a lamb shank. It's pretty oily, partly from the fat from the meat, but also I think olive oil. You can see from the picture, these wonderful pools of oil to add the heartiness of the soup. We also couldn't resist the pita bread to dip into the soup. It's huge, really huge. We had to include a hand in the picture just to get a point of comparison. It comes out HUGE and HOT. I'm not kidding on either point. It came directly out of the stone oven and almost burnt my fingers in trying to tear a piece off. Dip this right into your soup, oh so good. The Lamb Kidney Sub arrived. The initial inspection looks like the kidneys are finely chopped and sauteed well done. Not done well as it's perfect, but over cooked. It reminded me of when you cook bacon well done and break it up into bacon bits. They were very crunchy and some pieces were good presented this way, but most were too hard and tough to chew them. It's served on a nice toasted sub bun and mayo inside to elevate the sandwich a bit, but the star of the sandwich, the kidney, You only get a mediocre review. I would stick with the bread and soup. I'm interested in trying several other options there. They have items on the menu that are not found in most places, so it's definitely worth another visit.

Is heard they had liver and kidney sandwiches, and thought I likes me them parts. Popped down there and this fat Irish guy felt out of place. I tried to order the liver 'out" the kidney "out" and the heat "out" On one hand I'm disappointed but to their credit hey they are popular. I had a steak sub. It was good but want to go back for them there parts

This place is not worth trying! I've had good yemeni food before so i know wht im talking about! Such a pointless meal, stewed meat served seperately from the broth, white plain rice with scattered specks of red dye, unmemorable galaba and the driest least flavourful rotisserie chicken i've ever had! The only good thing was the bread! would never return! To be honest, the meat didnt taste bad, but how hard is it to stew some meat? It might be exotic for some i guess! When i think of yemeni food i think of mandi or zerbian or things that actually have some flavour and spice, yemen afterall is known for it's spices!

I have been here multiple times and love it. The place is a hole in the wall and the meals are made for sharing. They wait staff is real low key, which makes sharing slightly more comfortable, if you are not accustomed to eating that way. English is managed with difficulty, but they are friendly and eager to please. Saudi and Yemenite television plays while you dine. Most of the clients are Yemenites. Now on to the food. First and foremost is the tandoor bread. They use a clay oven to make large, beautiful, chewy and slightly charred bread that is a great accompaniment to any meat and rice dish. The meats are fall-off-the-bone succulent. LIke suck out the marrow succulent. Their beef and chicken are outstanding. Rice is made with saffron. The basmati is thus white with flecs of orange throughout, which means that they do not soak the saffron stands, first, but it works. The stews are great. I have tried the Seltah and Fattah and they are great and have a fennel seed foam on top. The lamb soup is outstanding. Be sure to order it. It is little more than broth, but oh what broth. It comes with a ledge of lemon - be sure to squeeze in a little lemon juice. Tumeric is used to create the broth, too. The sandwiches are a great to-go option. The meat is tasty and the bread is wonderful - it is a sesame bread. Only once was I disappointed in my sandwich, like the bread had been pressed. That is the only miss I have ever had on multiple visits. They have a tasty hot tea that you can serve yourself into styrofoam cups. Finally, if it is your first visit and you have a dining partner, I recommend you order the Sheeba Platter (there are two Sheeba Platters - although I am sure it is fine, order the platter which is not made up of kebabs). It is a huge plate of rice with tons and tons of differently prepared meats on top. Eat it up with your tandoor bread. Overall, I would say this is my favorite eatery in Detroit.

Great tea, great food. Hole in the wall place so make sure you don't have the wrong expectations when coming here.

Quite tasty. Pricing is higher than Dearborn but still reasonable. I'd put it at the middle of the pack. You won't go wrong by coming here, but you aren't likely to fall in love with the cuisine.

While the decor and service are humble, the food and experience is incredible. I have tried much of the menu, and everything I've had was delicious. Get a bean dish, soup and try the selteh or galabba, song with a few pieces of fresh tandoori bread, and you and your friends will be hooked.

Perhaps owing to its multi-ethnic makeup Hamtramck enjoys diplomatic immunity from the smoking ban. But, at 9 a.m. today, I was the only person here not having the cigarette and foul combo. Perhaps I should have gotten the foul, but I have had a craving for shakshuka for years. Well, what I got was not shakshuka, I'm quite sure. It was scrambled eggs. This tasted good enough, but I never order scrambled eggs at restaurants, because it is a ridiculous thing to do. The yemeni bread was good, and made me feel very silly for asking for a fork. It was also enjoyable watching the satellite news, which is all about Western conspiracies (like middle eastern tea partiers). Anyhow, for a all of your foul needs, this place will do. I don't think I will be returning, though.

In love with this place. The fool (mashed fava beans) is the best- tastes just like it would in the middle east. The lamb and chicken haneeth are also outstanding. Will definitely come back. I give Sheeba 5 stars for the tastiness of their food (will leave out location and ambience for now)

First time having yemenese food. It was delicious! We had Fahsa (smashed meat) and haneeth (lamb) Very nice staff, deliciously flavored hot food with big portions. A bit salty for our taste but still good. Ambiance wise, it could use some help...fluorescent lighting and dirty bathrooms, but I dig a dive meal every now and again.

Delicious haneeth as main course or agdah, fahsa (meat and tomato appetizer) with fresh bread, and margah soup. On point! But you have to be a meat eater. Don't get dressed up either, more of a casual place. Never had Yemeni food before today -- so delicious
