Usually enjoy coming here with my family. Tonight though service was terrible!! Not really sure if we'll go back. My food had a mistake. Waitress came around while I was in the restroom and my husband mentioned it to her. She took it away. I did not get a replacement AND it was still on my bill. I realized I was charged after she cashed me out. Waited a bit too ask her about it and she never came back around. I just have up because the mistake is causing me severe digestion problems... Yeah, usually this is a good place to go, though after tonight I think we're staying away for a while... I'll second guess myself if we ever come back here again...

1 star is a stretch. Just don't care for this place. Have ordered several things on the menu & never cared for any of it. I have a friend in Toledo & this is their favorite mexican Restaurant. She always wants to eat @ this place when we go out. I actually did not eat the last 2 times we went. Hope she gets the hint & finds another favorite, because I would never have to go back :-(

Your average run of the mill gringo restaurant. Decent portions but taste was very bland. My friend in Toledo ranted and raved about this place but only thing I can rave about is the salsa and fried ice cream. Food is not very authentic. The margaritas were pricey and not authentic either. Having lived in so-cal and been to Mexico, I would not say this place impressed me. Service was slow but expected on a weekend night. Please turn up the heat and the flavors atleast!

My Husband and I stopped in for dinner this evening on our way home from Toledo. The restaurant has lovely curb appeal and it seemed to be quite crowded which would be normal for a Saturday evening. We went in and gave our name and were quickly seated. The servers were polite, prompt and very personable. The brought us a bow of chips and salsa...seriously? it was like a tiny little ice cream dish with maybe 15 chips in it. Not that we were looking to eat a lot but i've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't send a basket. Either way, the chips were fresh & warm and the salsa was pretty tasty. We'd later come to realize that the chips and salsa would be the best part of our meal. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas and my husband ordered the beef enchiladas. Food came out quickly and we realized why. My Fajitas came on a dish ..(again...i've never been to a Mexican restaurant...even Applebees...where the Fajitas don't come on a sizzling plate). It had a glop..and well honestly? that is the best way to describe it...a glop of cold, coagulated, refired beans that clearly came from a can...a miniscule amount of lettuce and super dry, bland rice. The chicken itself was tough and rubbery (as were the tortillas)...the chicken tasted like it was the tyson type chicken fajita strips) with some seasoning and warmed in the microwave...I literally ate one piece of the chicken and made my husband take a bit and he also said "it was horrible". ......and he is not picky usually. He ordered the beef enchiladas which came I think three to a plate? couldn't tell because the plate was overflowing with enchilada sauce and what looked to be velveeta/american type cheese because it didn't coagulate much.Good mexican restaurants usually use Queso Fresco etc. His enchiladas were dry on the inside and the shredded type beef was very tough to chew. I think there is tons of room for improvement...as soon as we left we both said "Gordon Ramsay would not be happy".... Mexican food should be flavorful, exciting and well...a party in your mouth...for us? it was more like a funeral. We will stick to El Vaqueros in Monroe...it is much better and well authentic.

I will probably not come back unless there is another water emergency in Toledo . The margs were really weak and I got a "long pour" the seats were uncomfortable and too close. However the food was average . I've had better .

Beyond Terrible in every way. Food was completely bland except for an overload of pepper. "Salsa" was tasteless tomato paste with-you guessed it-loads of black pepper and served in a syrup dispenser. Service was terrible and food orders were wrong and missing vital ingredients (no taco meat on taco salad). Margaritas were overpriced and disgusting. Food quality and appearance can only be described as disgusting. To top off the experience I met a young teenage girl shortly after my visit who shared with me that she interviewed for a hostess position and was told by the manager she didn't meet the "physical" requirements for the position. Seems as if management quality is on par with food quality. This place looks very nice from the exterior and has some good reviews so we tried it. Save your time and money and trust the negative reviews, they are spot on! After our experience I am certain the "positive" reviews are contrived. I have ate at 100's of Mexican restaurants in this Country and in Mexico and have never experienced such a disaster claiming to be a Mexican restaurant!

People are crazy. This place is fantastic, from the unlimited fresh, hot chips and salsa to the authentic enchiladas. Service is always fast, food is always hot and good. I have been coming here (and the old location) for 30 years and I've never once had a poor experience.

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food in general, so I'm not the one to listen to if you love it. But, for what it's worth, I've been here a few times now and I find everything mushy and similar. Everything seems almost soggy. I stick to mostly chicken dishes, but it's seemed the same for beef. Only a couple of beers on tap, Dos Equis and one of the standard American beers that I can't remember. Beer was reasonably priced. Seems like you wait a while here for a table, but once your seated, you see empty tables all around. I've been there each time on a Friday night, so that's obviously a busy night and probably not the norm. I'd give it 1 star for myself, but my friends really like it, so there must be some reason for that, and my bias against Mexican food isn't the restaurant's fault.

Totally uninspired. Microwaved yellow cheese is not authentic Mexican food. The wait is longer than it should be, and the prices are high for what you're getting. The plates all come out looking like mud puddles and the flavor profile is generally flat and boring. I have to laugh when someone who's obviously never been out of Monroe County starts claiming where the best Mexican food can be had. If you've ever enjoyed real Mexican food, like from a street vendor in Mexico or even a restaurant in the American Southwest, there's not going to be a lot of love for this sort of freezer-to-microwave white-bread imitation Chi-Chi's kaka.

This is my fav local Mexican restaurant in Monroe County. Place is in a totally obscure location, however, it is always packed when we go. Sign of a great place. Chips and salsa are amazing, that could be my entire meal. I normally get meals with shrimp, and had the most amazing shrimp quesadillas last night. Service is always super friendly and fast, and the decor is fun. Highly recommend eating here. Oh, and the margaritas are incredible!

I remember when this place was at the original location! I haven't been there since i was maybe 11 or so... Stopped in for a quick workday lunch meeting earlier this week. Service was accurate and quick, we were seated promptly, the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, the food was pretty middle-of-the-road mexican fare; not bad, but nothing mind-blowing either. The chips and salsas were a solid 3 out of 5 stars-- unless you mixed the two salsas together-- then we're talking tasty! Opted for tamales and a cup of the house creamy chicken soup. Both were yummy. Another member of my party ordered the small taco salad, which she said was the perfect size and very tasty. The third member of our party ordered fajitas and seemed satisfied with them. Like I said, not bad food, just nothing that will knock your socks off, either. I'd like to come back and try a different dish to see if that would change my opinion......

Food was okay. Your basic, cheesy, beany, mexican fare. The portions were a decent amount. Our waiter was attentive and he got the orders right. A good place for families and small children. I thought the wait was a bit excessive. We were a party of six and it took us over 30 minutes to be seated. Most other folks were seated in about 5 minutes. They seemed to have difficulty seating groups larger than 4. To be fair, it was a Friday evening and perhaps that was the issue.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! For anyone who gave this place over 1 star you are crazy!!! If you think this is good Mexican food you need to get out more! I've ate at tons and tons of Mexican restaurants from the hardcore authentic in SW Detroit to the suburbanite places catering to those who prefer dumbed down versions of Mexican food. The best two words I can use to describe this place are not Good or Tasty like some of you others think here. I have to say this is the worst Mexican food I've ever tried, the portions are tiny and the price is insane! For 2 enchiladas with beans and rice it cost over 11 dollars . . are you serious??? My plate came scalding hot and food barely warm . . . how in the hell does that happen? Then when they bring it back it is literally boiling on my plate . . very funny losers! I told the waitress when she took it to warm it up everything was very bad so I'm sure she said something. Instead of telling the manager this place is a joke I left the boiling hot plate on the table untouched and we left ASAP. I think they got the hint. My girlfriend ordered the small nachos and let me tell you it should be called tiny nachos. She got 6 nachos . . yes you saw that right 6 nachos but she did get a half a head of lettuce covering her entire plate. With a side of guac and sour cream it costs . . are you ready for this . . . 9 bucks!!! 2.19 of it was for a tablespoon of guac and sour cream! I can go to Mexican Village on Bagley in Detroit and get a taco, chimi, enchilada and burrito with beans and rice for about 9 bucks! I go to a place in Plymouth near my office and get 3 enchiladas with beans and rice that are fantastic for like 8 bucks! The waitress was very good but the place was dirty . . food all garbage left over from previous diners all over the floor. The Salsa was a wonderful blend of ketchup, pepper and maybe something else.

The worst Mexican food i had in my life!! the salsa tasted like tomato sauce from a can enchiladas were covered with lettuce and tomato with cheddar cheese never had enchiladas or ever seen them like this the chicken in all the food was so disgusting! every dish had cheddar cheese. I ordered a drink it was so sour i returned it and told them i didn't like it i didn't even drink it just took a sip they took the drink and still added it on my bill the manager came out and argues with me about it just so you know if you don't like your food or drinks here and you return it at this restaurant they will still charge you for it i guess they must really need the money at this restaurant! The waitress and people here were unfriendly the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my life!!!

Not much (good) can be said about La Fiesta. Pricey, small portions, boring menu, mediocre food at best. The truth is Taco Bell is better than this place, and you'll at least get your moneys worth. The name should be changed to Blah Fiesta.

Very enjoyable super friendly staff and good food. The draft ran out as they were filling my glass. I know most restaurants would have never said anything and let me think the 2 inch head on my beer was intentional. They brought me, once the new keg was in place, a second glass to make up for the foam on the first glass. Very impressive. We will go again.

Great food, my family has been going here for as long as I remember (before they moved from Monroe St to Telegraph). I don't think they kept the large wooden parrots, but the food is good. I'd describe it as more TexMex (heck, even possibly a bit more like MidwestMex on non-Texas-style items) than Authentic, but it is definitely flavorful, reasonably priced, and with complementary chips and salsa while you're waiting to get your food.

My favorite Mexican restaurant! I've tried the other options in Monroe County and Toledo but nothing comes close. The atmosphere is fun without being cheesy like some Mexican restaurants. Warm, thin and crispy chips and fresh made salsa keep coming while you wait for your meal. Margaritas are refreshing and there are specials some nights. Personally I always come back to the chicken chimichanga. Save room for the fried ice cream!! Not sure how other reviewers say this place isn't authentic. It's owned and operated by the Canales family. Very authentic.

Went there for my birthday and the entrees ruined my whole night for my family and I. Way too much cumin in the steak fajitas and chicken fajitas, not even edible! The queso and chorizo was just ok, nothing to rave about. Salsa and chips ok certainly not fresh, but they do have warm chips. Friend purchased a peach mango margarita and tasted like a slushy and hardly any alcohol. We couldn't take anymore just had to leave, worst Mexican food that I have ever tasted!! Needless to say won't be back as Taco Bell would be a better option!

We were just traveling through on our way home to Indiana and decided to make a stop. It was a little out of the way off the highway, but holy cow, was it worth it! Great fajitas, chips, mild and hot salsa and queso! Definitely a great find! If you want quiet, sit outside....very secluded and peaceful. Inside Is nice as well! 5 stars!

I don't think I have ever had such terrible Mexican food! The guacamole was absolutely disgusting, we had to add salsa and pickled jalapeño just to make it tolerable. The salsa tasted like ketchup, and my burrito was so bad I would not have served it to my dog. Do yourself a favor and just go to Taco Bell, the food will be better and it will cost you less money!!! From where we could sit we could see into the kitchen and it looked dirty and disgusting as well!

We looked at the reviews. Some are bad, some are good. We decided to come here and decide for ourselves. I have not been able to write a bad review in quite a while and though this might be the opportunity. We have been spoiled on good service and tasty dishes so maybe we got got complacent. We came here open minded and ready for good or bad. Even though my rating shows 4 stars, I am calling it 3 1/2. It was OK average. Nothing terrible and nothing spectacular. The building from the outside looks Grande in a Southwest Hacienda kind of way. BEWARE, there is only one drive in and out and it is deceiving at night as to location. It is not directly in front of the building when looking in from Telegraph Road. Look for the signage and enter there, then follow the long drive. Inside... it looks like you think it does, like a collage of Mexican places you have been to in the past. Bathrooms clean, and the usual Mexican music playing from the sound system. At least these songs did not have an Accordion in them, thank God. Wednesday has $1 Margaritas, $3 Jumbo Margs, $1 drafts with Dos Equis. We tried all flavors and they were OK. My wife's Chicken Chimichanga was good, and my Chicken Fajitas were good too. The chips and salsa were in little bowls, but they kept them coming so no big deal. They did not have any bottles of Hot Sauces, just their Mild or Hot salsa for chips. The chips were light, warm, and crispy and thew Salsa was smooth rather than chunky. They probably had no bottles of Hot Sauces due to theft problems in the past, or they were just being cheap if they never had them to begin with, or they were confidant that their Salsas would suffice any taste. I don't know. They are out in the sticks.... but on Telegraph Road. If you are in Toledo there is no reason to come out here, you already have plenty to choose from in T-Town. For the money we spent this place is ... Ok.

From the outside it appears to be a funeral home. And it is. A funeral for your tastebuds. What a big let down. Ordered the steak and chicken fajita plate. Nothing to write home about. The veggies were mush. Meat chewy. Too chewy. Tendonitis in jaw chewy. Date ordered a taco plate. To our surprise they arrived "smothered"...not eat with your hands taco. Melted cheese bedding eat with a fork taco. Was not described accurately in description. The place smelled like a dirty clogged kitchen sink. The table was sticky. The salsa was kept at the table unrefrigerated in a cloudy crusty dispenser. Totally gross. We live for chips and salsa unlimited at these establishments. How can you possibly mess that up? The prices were reasonable. The food and ambiance sucks however. Margaritas are superb. I grant you 2 stars.

We went here for lunch and loved it! We both ordered the lunch specials, chimi with beans and a taco salad, tostada with beans and taco salad. First off the chips and salsa were REALLY good and the taco salad was delicious. Everything that came out was really really good! We will be back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
