Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

If you are familiar with Douglas and Saugatuck, you'lll know that there are NO chain restaurants here, but there are alot of places to try. We normally order pizza from another pizza joint in town, but we decided to give PIzza Mambo a try. We ordered carry out, and were very pleased. Pizza is thin crust (FYI). Our pizza was mushroon and pepperoni - the mushrooms were think, generously sized. The pepperoni was average (not exceptional but not bad). The bread sticks are also thin - not like the ones that come from Pizza Hut, but they were yummy!! Pizza was ready in a timely manner. we will definitely eat here again.

Nothing mind-blowing, but exactly what I wanted: good ol' fashioned pizza pie. The crust was light and chewy, the cheese melty and gooey, the toppings fresh! I ordered a house salad and breadsticks as well, both were tasty. Oh, and the best part--they deliver! Everything came piping hot (except the salad of course.) Would order again from Pizza Mambo for sure!

Visiting here from out if town and we ordered from here. Pizza was thin and crispy which is just how we like it. Our kids loved it too--said it was the best pizza ever. Breadsticks with marinara were good choice too-- also a hit with the kids.

Great pizza. Much better than some of the other pizza places in the area. The people working there could be a lot more friendly but it's a good place nonetheless. Carry-out only.

Very, very delicious. We ate our pizza, but it was so good we could have easily eaten another. I think this pizza was even better than our local favorite in Chicago. The Greek salad was very flavorful as well and was large enough for two to share. Our kids ate every bit of pizza too and they are picky.

Ate here July 12 for dinner. Had the carnivore I think it's called and bread sticks. We could have done without the bread sticks, they were just so so. The pizza was really good. Great crust, plenty of topping. They need a bigger eating area for folks that are in hotels. It was nice to have the area outside to eat. Would have to pizza again if in the area.

I had a custom pizza - the white base with broccoli and prosciutto. Mine was scrumptious! My husband and kids had the standard cheese and pepperoni and it was so-so. The sauce just wasn't very tasty and none of them cared for it. The breadsticks were unanimously delicious :). One note - this isn't an eat in place. There are three patio tables outside and that's it.

I was pleasantly surprised. Great pizza from fresh ingredients. It will be a new staple when visiting.

While I was in this resort area buying pastries and bread from Caravanserai in Saugatuck (see my review), I met my friend Lark and his son Julian for lunch at Wild Dog in Douglas. He raved about the pizza and the two of them are reliable sources of food advice, so ... after a delicious salad and a visit to our favorite Old Farmhouse antique shop, i headed back to Blue Stary Highway to try it ... because while my first love is good pastry and bread, my second is pizza! As one who enjoys unusual but unique and certainly tasteful pizza - eg, Pequod's on Clybourn - I found this to be one of the best in the coastal area of southwestern Michigan. Their crust is thin and chewy and fresh. Their ingredients are myriad from the usual to the quirky and the service is great. So next time you are visiting the resorts around Holland and Saugatuck-Douglas, get off the main street and indulge!

I'm not a 5-star giver. There is always room for improvement. Pizza Mambo took four stars, kicked its crust, rolled it, topped it with first rate fresh, imaginative ingredients and made room for FIVE STARS. Great pizza. Carry out only. (Mostly) nice people. Wish there was one near my home. Visited on vacation...now longingly daydream for another pizza mambo....just another slice...with a salad topped with homemade gorgonzola dressing...breadsticks...mmmmamboooo!

Good food at a good price. Loved the thinner crust and the Chicken/Bacon pizza was clearly the hit among the 7 of us. Next time we will order two. We also appreciated the honesty as they were running behind and let us know it could be up to 90 minutes (but it took just under an hour)

Great Thin crust pizza, quaint "Old World Italian" atmosphere, Superior Service. It's primarily a take out place with 2 indoor tables and 5-ish outdoor tables with umbrellas. Menu was great, we will be back!

We were craving pizza, and searched Yelp for places to go. Darkling S's review pointed us to Pizza Mambo. The menu, with ingredients like roasted garlic and gorgonzola, enticed us to go. The pizza is fantastic -- as good as we've had anywhere. The crust is thin and delicious, and the balance of ingredients is perfect. Having big roasted garlic bulbs on my pizza made me want to weep. Be forewarned that if you want to eat in, the space is small and in a generic strip mall. There is also no liquor. But these are not complaints -- the pizza is the star of show (the salads, with gorgonzola dressing, were great, too!).

Sorry Pizza Mambo, I really hate to do this, especially since I'm all about trying to increase traffic to local businesses, however, my recent experience with Pizza Mambo was just plain disappointing. Granted, I've not had pizza from here before since it's always seemed a bit expensive for me to justify ordering for just myself. A friend was coming over for dinner, so I called in an order for a medium pizza with four regular toppings (no snooty, rooty snooty or whatever they call the premium toppings) and a house salad. Was told 20 mins and it would be ready. I took my time leaving work so I wouldn't have to sit out in my cold car waiting for the pizza to be done. Arrived in about 15 mins, and my pizza was already done and sitting there. When I was rung up my total was $27... I thought to myself, ok, guess I must have read the menu wrong as far as pricing went, or maybe I accidentally ordered the wrong thing. I was starving, so I just took the pizza home to eat before I passed out. My friend and I opened the box and right away were disappointed. It was definitely a medium sized pizza (I was anticipating they mistakenly made and charged me for a large on accident due to the price), that was half burned and barely luke warm. Now, I know this winter has been COLD, but I live very, very close to the restaurant so it's not like it was exposed to the outside for very long at all. The crust was extremely hard and took quite the effort to chew through, also partly charred as I mentioned earlier, so I ended up breaking off a lot of burnt edges. It was lacking almost any sauce and couldn't hardly taste the toppings! Pizza is pizza to me for the most part, but I was just not satisfied with this one. Not to mention, my $5.50 house salad was tiny! The lady said it was enough for two people, and I barely got one bowl out for myself. On the positive side, they do have excellent gorgonzola dressing. So now that I've eaten this disappointing meal, I'm super bothered by the $27 price tag. I called and identified my order and just asked them to clarify why I was charged the amount I was... well, turns out I had ordered a medium, but they did charge me for a large with four large toppings... so we're looking at almost a $7 overcharge. I waited for a response to remedy the situation, and got nothing. I finally had to ask the person on the phone what they were going to do... they told me they weren't sure what to do, but could write down a credit for me to use next time... I got a quick apology and goodbye. So, you didn't take my name or number or any identifying information, but I'll have a credit to use next time I come in? Makes sense... Not sure if I want to order again after a less than great meal and a definite lack of customer service. I honestly feel a bit robbed. I'll order something one more time so I can have my money/credit back and give you one more chance to redeem yourself. My advice would be to just make sure you check your order and receipt before you leave the building.

The best meatballs and red sauce I have eaten outside of New Jersey ever!

  • Marcus T.

We were hoping for a dine-in place, but they're more of a carryout place. There's one table inside near the beverage cooler and a small patio outside -- pretty spartan though. The pizza was very average. I expected a little better, given the lack of focus on ambience. Our pepperoni thincrust was no better than the store bought pizza we make at home. The chicken-artichoke-pesto pizza was fine. Very plain crust. Service was mixed. Two workers were friendly; one was less so. No guest restroom.

  • Michael Y.

The pizza is awesome! I am stating this as someone of Italian heritage and who grew up in New Jersey, so that compliment does not come easily. The choice of toppings is extensive and high quality. I love that there are vegetarian meat substitutes! Everyone in our group of 10 enjoyed the pizzas we ordered. We ordered delivery and the restaurant was kind enough to let us know that they were overwhelmed at the time, and that delivery might take up to 50 minutes. We were in no hurry (as should anyone be when visiting this area), and I expressed that we were patient and not to stress out. The pizzas arrived sooner than predicted, hot, and crispy. I will definitely order from them every time I visit the Saugatuck/Douglas area.

No way is this pizza "the best!" Average. And absolutely no beer in sight. Service can be good and bad. Take out only. You can eat on their patio but you'll need to take it out. A bit pricy. Not quite three stars. Salad was decent. Within 2 miles of a beach. Good delivery guys. Good branding.

Found this terrific gem almost by accident! The food was delicious and hearty (Italian beef sandwich, antipasto salad), the space was charming, and the owners could not have been nicer and more gracious! Looking forward to returning the next time I am here!

Upscale and authentic. Healthy and top notch ingredients. Homemade sauces and dressings. Bountiful salads. Crisp homemade thin crust, not greasy. The place has got a great vibe with very friendly owners. All the food is made with love. Mostly carry out but they have a lovely patio if you choose to dine in. There are also a few tables inside. The decor is modern. The place is meticulous. Great music, space, people and food add up to a great choice!!!!!
