Tasty stuff here! Awesome shawarma with great garlic flavor, and its healthy food too! It was crowded but I got my stuff fast and the staff's attitude was pleasant. Great prices too. The Detroit-style customer service is Not as bad as I have read on other Yelp postings, but I can see where that can become a problem if the management is not tuned into the problems.

We couldn't ignore this place if we tried cause the whiffs of grilled-deliciousness will get to you as you cruise across Michigan Ave! At less than $5 a wrap, your hunger will cease to exist after only eating half a portion. The meat always has a grilled and juicy taste, the lettuce, tomato and pickles are crisp and the garlic sauce is pungent. There are some bar stools to sit on if you choose to dine in but it seems to be more of a take-out/delivery place (whenever we go, there are always tons of workers but no customers). It's great to see businesses on Michigan Ave!!!

The same great quality, absolutely delicious and fresh food for the same great prices as the downtown location. MUCH easier parking, and, for me, just a few blocks from my home. Awesome! The not so awesome is that it manages to stay just as congested as the downtown one, and even less friendly. The girls who work the counter speak in such a dry tone, and have no objective other than to get you rung up and out of their face. Over the phone is even more difficult. With all the background noise it's hard to tell when they're talking to you or if it's the person next to them taking a different order that I'm overhearing. Plus when I have called in my order they have gotten it wrong more than once. They're so fast though, that if I want my chicken schawarma I'll just run in rather than call ahead. I find I only have to wait a few minutes anyway. Overall, the food and prices are so good, it's worth tolerating the other stuff!

BEST shawarma around. Flavorful, filling and can't beat the price.

This is a great place for a pita in the Corktown neighborhood. It is apparently a branch of a shop that is in Midtown/Downtown. The food is excellent, the service is good and the prices are more than fair. It is one of the better bargains in Detroit. I was bringing my son and his girlfriend home from the airport and he suggested we make a stop at this place. Since it was on the way, it was no trouble. The diminutive building was attractive and well-lit. There was plenty of parking in the lot beside it. The interior was very small and was a walk-up-and-order format. It was quite busy when we visited in spite of the fact that it was 9 PM on a Sunday night. We found the servers to be reasonably friendly and efficient. We placed our order and waited for about 8 or 10 minutes for it to be filled. It was a little crowded but we decided to eat our food there in the shop. There were five stools around a very narrow counter on the perimeter of the waiting area. It was tight but we managed. It was clear the majority of their business was takeout. We ordered two Beef Shawarmas and a Chicken Shawarma. The latter was mine and it was absolutely delicious. I was quite happy with it while my son and his girlfriend were also happy with theirs. The prices were more than fair as our total for the three sandwiches was $15.87 with tax. The base price was $4.99 per pita. It was a great bargain as they were more than sufficient for a meal. Overall, this is a terrific spot to get an inexpensive and filling sandwich. The food is great, the service is good and the prices are outstanding. It's one of the best bargains around. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Tired of taco trucks and looking for something new? Stop by a Bucharest Grill for inexpensive and filling Mediterranean. With Schwarmas priced from $4-$6 and delicious and generous portions of curly fries, this spot is definitely a must for visitors to Detroit. My favorite thing is that their Schwarma is probably 3/4 meat and 1/4 veggies so eveb though it looks small, it fills you up quite a bit. This location in Corktown has very limited seating but has a parking lot. The downtown location has more seating but parking is more difficult. Service and customer service is definitely not the greatest here. The food is so good that they realize that they can get away with poorer service. During peak lunch and dinner hours, always call ahead if you want to avoid 30 minute long waits.

Absolutely excellent! We picked up a carry out for lunch and i got the Chicken Shawarma Salad w/ chicken, lettuce, cucumbers and peppers - skipped the tomato, onion and pita chips. It was delicious. The dressing is an olive oil and vinegar based mix so for those fitness fans, it is a perfect meal. I added a side of garlic for some fat and a side of the home-style potatoes. They were sauteed potatoes with carrots and peppers and onions. So good... a perfect starch for lunch. The food was ready when we got there and they have online ordering which is extremely convenient. This is a new favorite!

Greeeeeeeaaaatttt food. Greaaaat price too. Great visit in Detroit. Wish the fries were more on point. Made fresh. Other than that, the place is on point.

I have had the hot dogs before, but would stick to their original Bucharest shawarma. This location does have parking but is carryout only. Overall, you cannot beat the fresh quality of ingredients and the quick service - definitely a Detroit staple!

  • Monique S.

I got a chicken shawarma, chicken shawarma salad and stuffed pepper. They aren't stingy on flavor. Everything was great i usually go to the other location but I called ahead and didn't have to wait at the Michigan location which had a line out the door. The chicken shawarma sandwich was good as always, I didn't like the salad dressing but other than that it was good per usual.

Work gets Bucharest atleast once a week, as long as orders are in by 11:10a we get our food by 12ish. With the large order we call in, I'm glad that they are able to get everything and correctly. Because my number is in the system, I don't have to provide any info except my number and the ppl there are great. The delivery guys are awesome too! Food never disappoints and orders ranges from sliders to shawarma to salads. Thanks Mucho. -Kat

This place gets 6 stars for their food, and 1 for their horrible customer service. They are arrogant, and not accommodating to loyal customers. You can't order ahead for pickup, and delivery takes hours. The food isn't good enough to be treated like shit. Bucharest is now on my boycott list.

the best non-traditional Chicken Shawarma sandwich. To me, much better then a traditional shawarma sandwich. The char-grill taste in the chicken mixed with the garlic sauce is incredible. Great prices, great place to visit when going to a game.

Don't waste your time. Go to the original location. The quality of food service is much better. I came here for the first time and I ordered my usual chicken shwarma and it was cold. I took it back and the guy behind the counter tried to tell me it wasn't cold. I'm not coming back to this location, and I highly recommend that no one else does either.

    (1)
  • Hannah W.

The food is made fast and is delicious! They have about 20 people working in the kitchen at once so there is never a long wait. This place gets super packed on game days.

    (5)
  • Jeremy A.

I love that they put a Bucharest in Corktown. Was never willing to wait at the downtown location. If you call ahead they are right on the money. The shawarma sandwiches are fantastic and great size for $5. Must be why they're so busy.

If it want a takeaway i prefer ordering from this place as it has parking and i can order in advance. The food quality is always good. I keep coming back for more!!

Cool place. The kitchen is open and to the left from the entrance. You order at the kitchen and they give you a number to put on your table. The number of workers in the kitchen is incredible. I have never seen so many people in such a small kitchen. The food flies out of there but it is very good. We had our food in under 5 mins. We had two Beef Shawarma sandwiches and it was really really good. Maybe a little too much sauce on it. Next time I will order it on the side. We also shared the hummus and chicken. Really good as well. All of this for under $20 for two of us and it is a lot of food. The seating area in the bar is pretty cool too. They had Tiger baseball on but the TV's are all around the center of the bar area but not on the walls. I like that you can see the building without having TV's on every wall. We will be back.

Excellent place to grab a shwarma sandwich. As soon as I got off the plane I was directed straight to this place to grab some food and I was not disappointed.

Their Chicken Schwarma Sandwich is one of the best food items on this planet!!! Their other food is so-so. Their hummus is terrible. Don't go here for middle eastern food, unless it's the chicken schwarma sandwich. The chicken is fresh grilled heavily marinated white meat, diced, and piled high on the best pita bread in the D (Cedars bakery in Dearborn) smeared with garlic, with fresh romaine lettuce, and a pickle, and it's rolled in foil cus there is too much chicken to wrap in the pita. The service is dry, there's nowhere comfortable to stand as you wait, but the sandwich is so amazing, and only $5!!!

    (5)
  • Julian C.

I called ahead for a six pack of schwarmas. 3 beef and 3 chicken. It smelled great outside and truly Devine inside. There really isn't a dining area, maybe 2 tables. Order was ready when I got there. Parking lot was small. THESE SCHWARMA ARE FANTASTIC!!!

I have never found the the wait staff at either Bucharest Grill very welcoming but Idashia topped them all, no hello...no smile and no thank you. I've always enjoyed the food, and you can't beat the value but I don't know how much longer I'll go out of my way.

  • Bonnie G.

So excited the new location opened! Great new lunch spot for me, super close to my work. Same food as the the Park location along with easy parking....dreams do come true! It was not busy at the time, got my food fast. As there are only a few stools to sit at, I would recommend carry out. On this visit I got the chicken shawarma salad. Very large portion. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

  • Mazhar S.

the place does not have menus...so you cannot walk in and decide what you want. the room is extremely small and gets crowded and blistering hot very fast. the service is slow and the staff never give accurate time estimates. every single time we have ordered from here we were told to come in 15mins and we never get our food before 45mins. on top of that, every single time items have been missing or incorrect in our order. when we notify the staff of this they are extremely uncooperative and show us attitude. even the original branch is small and disorganized but the Michigan ave branch is especially bad. one may think I was pissed off at them hence the bad review however this has been a recurring theme from this establishment and I felt obligated to voice my dissatisfaction so people can choose other options than waste their time standing in this claustrophobic place waiting for 45mins for their food.

    (1)
  • Mark F.

Get the Bucharest schwarma...the regular chicken schwarma is ok but if want to know the reason you were told to go here by your friends it's for the Bucharest version. Also the Niki salad is a delight!

    (4)
  • Mark P.

Delivery took over 2 hours. Food was very cold and was poorly seasoned. The pita for the Bucharest shwarma was soggy and congealed with the fries. Overall, very poor experience. I honestly don't even know how they stay in business. Is it possible to leave 0 stars?

    (1)
  • Eaton B.

The food is ok, not great, not bad either, the service on the other hand is horid. We stopped doing take outs because every order if it's online, or on the phone is messed up. Now when we go, we have to look through each order and verify that this is what we ordered. Our office now will not order from here anymore.

I absolutely LOVE the food! My family, friends and coworkers order from the restaurant at leat 3-4 times week! We have all recently had a discussion and I noticed that we all have similar experiences. I would give them 5 stars but I cannot get around the the wait staff and the constant issues with my orders. I chose to write the review today because I'm sitting here with my delicious chicken schwarma salad but I can't enjoy it because they forgot to give me the vinegar and oil dressing that comes with it. I asked for a side of garlic but I was not expecting them not to give me vinegar and oil and charge me for the garlic! Last week while at work I placed an order and asked for light chicken I was given extra chicken. The week before that I ordered a salad which had 3 pieces of lettuce, 20 bell peppers and massive amount of chicken! And I asked for the pita chips on the side and they charged for that. That same week they forgot to add feta to my order twice. As an FYI, I switched from ordering the chicken schwarma wrap because there was no consistency with it. I had it done the right way a couple of times. All my other orders were either way too much garlic sauce or not enough or to much chicken not enough lettuce. A couple of times there were no tomatoes or lettuce just chicken. Now about the service, I don't know if it is because they are kids or if they smoke to much pot or maybe they don't know anything about customer service but it can be lousy most times. You walk in and there is always a conversation going on that has nothing to do with taking orders (I can hear them) and when they ask you who's next after waiting for them to finish giggling it's like you have interrupted them. When I fist started going to the restaurant it was the one downtown on park street and it was after 9 so I assumed the attitudes that I encountered was just the wait staff at night. Nope! Tried going during normal business hours same thing! And the park location is where I first ordered the wrap and had issues. So I said I wouldn't go back to that one and switched to Michigan ave. The first couple of times were pleasant but my food was consistently wrong. I understand that I could call there EVERYTIME and ask for a manager but I don't have time for the attitudes of the wait staff when I know I'm not going to take the 17 minute drive back to the restaurant. The last time i ordered from work the delivery guy was nice and APPROACHABLE so I was comfortable talking to him about my order that was wrong. He promptly called the manager and they took off the extra i was charged for something I didnt order. I will give them a couple more times before I say I'm done and then ask my family, friends and coworkers to no longer go to the restaurant. The only reason im still a customer is because of the driver that came to my work and how he handled the issue with the order. I will continue to order but only when I am at work and pray they get it right!

I would love love love to give them 5 stars! I make a point to eat here whenever we're home to visit. I normally send someone else for the carry out. Well today I made the trip myself and the customer service is AWFUL. The young ladies that take the orders and hand out the orders are BEYOND RUDE! No smile, no greeting, no thank you! Loud talking and language not fit for the work place.

We eat here almost every time we are in the neighborhood. Its so much more convenient than the greektown location. There's parking!! I know it may not sound impressive but no more running down the street it the snow ;) My go to is the chicken shwarma my hubby likes the beef. We LOVE the garlic spread!!

This place has pissed me off several times now. Hours of operation on the building, website, google, and on their printed menus? Open until 2 AM. Go there at 11 PM on Wednesday? Closed. Oh, they must've changed their week hours. Go there at 11 on Friday and Saturday? Closed. What gives? If you aren't open until 11, 12, 1, or 2, don't advertise being open at 2 in the damn morning. This has caused me to waste my time three times now, and now, I don't want to go there. I wont contribute to a business that is obviously making a killing that wont do something so simple as to change their business hours. How lame . . . I'm also convinced I caught a girl in the middle of skimming cash, or trying to at least. She gives me $25 extra dollars, no receipt, and takes a long time to do math in her head which didn't work out. As I count my change, I return the $25, doing the right thing. She looks at me and literally only says "ok." Like nothing happened. TACTLESS. Bucharest has shitty business ethic. Step up your game for the love of god.

    (2)
  • MS. K.

Slow unorganized, do not expect fast service even with a call in. The young ladies don't wear hair nets or gather their hair up, the quality of food is not the same. Ive recieved hard char-dried shawarmas twice.

  • Steffie K.

My first experience was great at this restaurant, loved the chicken shawarma ! I have since then recommended my friend's and family to eat at this establishment . Looking forward to trying more things on their menu !

This joint is what happens when a whole city has such low expectations, they become easily met. For the love of God change the oil in your vats already, I could smell it from a block away. The closer I got, the worse it smelled. The food was the same, not worthy of the full single star.

Always the best food! Chicken Shawarma is the best I've had, anywhere!

  • Jorge P.

I came along this place while in Detroit visiting, staying in Corktown. It's located right across the street from the old Stadium in an area that is a bit barren, although it has a couple of gems. Bucharest Grill is definitely one of them. It has a tiny, corner storefront and is not good for groups, but if you're hungry and just want to get a quick bite - this is the place for you. The staff was friendly and the wait time was short, which is always a great start. And the food was ridiculously inexpensive. Each of their Shawarmas are under $5, and the portions are pretty huge. It's definitely not gourmet dining and there is very limited seating in the restaurant (only a handful of stools), but it's a whole lot better than anything else you can get for that little money in that little time. I will be sure to visit them again next time I go back to Hitsville, USA or to Movement. ;)

    (4)
  • Monica E.

The only good thing about this location is that there's parking and its not crowded. The people are very rude on the phone. Last time I got a shawerma here it was cold. I recommend going to the Downtown location (which has indoor seating although it's always packed!!) if you have the time.

    (3)
  • Ferris B.

Generally, Bucharest Grill has great food! Just recently through customer service has taken a hit and caused some issues lately. I order from this place frequently, especially because they deliver until 11 pm. Though recently, I placed an order and ordered the homestyle chicken salad, which was described to be similar to a potato salad. No such thing!! I got a mix of oily vegetables, NO CHICKEN and nothing like potato salad. I tried to call right away, but I guess they were avoiding the phone since it was getting late despite still being open. It's a shame :(

I waited 20 minutes for a shwarma and fries. When i asked if it was ready yet they said the foregot the fries even though about 10 people came after me and got their food already

Had a lunch meeting in Detroit and they ordered from Bucharest shawarma sandwiches. I've eaten a ton of shawarma sandwiches in my lifetime, even in the middle east. None like Bucharest!! They have a yummy spicy sauce and the sandwich was FULL of chicken. They didn't skimp at all on the meat. Super flavorful and unbelievably filling. And the Michigan Ave location delivers!

    (5)
  • Todd L.

Best sandwiches on Michigan Ave. My office staff cannot get enough of their food. The building should be enlarged though, it is crowded in the entrance. Winter is going to cause problems for parking and standing inside.

I was skeptical, we normally head to Dearborn for Middle Eastern food. Well we live in the neighborhood, and its great for a quick in and out. I'll be going back. Garlic spread was awesome

    (3)
  • frank K.

I'm in love with the food. Yes it's a full fledged love affair however, the layout of this place doesn't work. The area for customers is way too small and there is no place to wait for your food and forget about eating in. They obviously don't want u to eat there since they don't have a trash can for u to put your wrappers in. I will Staff are hard workers. Great food poor layout of a restaurant.

    (4)
  • L. Z.

Placed an order and waited for 2 hrs and had to call back twice before being told the order got missed! Very poor service- I believe the food to be good but don't order deliveries!

    (1)
  • Roy W.

Called in order and female on phone was playing games and kept saying other food items when I was speaking in plain kings English of what I desired to order... I only believe was an attempt I assume to be funny and really piss me off... Which they did a great job. Everyone in the background seemed to be having a really good time laughing it up. When I arrived there were about 20 people behind the counter who from their attire I assumed were not on the job or even worked there because all the goofing off going on. Spending $40.00 on a carry out order I checked to make sure the order was right and they forgot my Pita Bread, instead giving me Pita Chips and charging me. Then nickeled and dime'd me for two whole pita breads. This location has beyond horrific customer service and all the classless fools they have working here are sure to doom this location if this is how they do business.

Had the chicken shawarma sandwitch full of flavor sometimes short on chicken but as long as it is good so what

  • Jess R.

This is seriously the best place ever! You get SO much for your money! I wish I lived closer, because I would eat here every day. The chicken shwarma is AMAZING.

    (5)
  • Stacy M.

I love the convenience of this place, and have generally found everyone that works there to be friendly. My plea to the owners is PLEASE CUT the AMOUNT of SALT in your recipes. This was my third visit since they opened. I kept going back in the hopes that they were tweaking recipes and listening to customer feedback. My faves: chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and hummus are too salty to enjoy. Please let me know if you adjust your recipe, until then, I'm unfortunately out.

    (2)
  • Shaun P.

The sandwiches that I ordered were good and no complaints. The place itself reminded me of a dirty frat house. Where everyone is joking around and just having a good old time. I notice people playing with there long hair and serving guest. The cooks taking there hats off scratching the back of there heads and going back to preparing and making the food. I almost forgot about the attitude that I received when asking for simple requests. I know this isn't a one time occurrence, if I would happen to go right now the same things would be happening. The sandwiches are defiantly solid and that is why the solid three stars. The beef I notice though was a little tuff. This place is best visited when you have had a few soda pops and your since of caring goes out the window.

    (3)
  • Aaron R.

I have not tried the downtown location and from what I am reading on here its actually better. I thought the chicken Shwarma is pretty good but I don't have anything to compare it to. I will have to try the downtown location one day. It is pretty crowded every time I go in there and you can never tell who is in line. I have not got an order messed up there yet but I was surprised that they don't offer cheese for their burger. I do like the convince of it because I live only a few blocks away and it makes me happy to see new things pop up on Michigan Ave, but I think they are going to have to step up their game a little more.

    (3)
  • Heather J.

Love what they have done to this place but the staff is not very friendly. It is all business all the time and they have a ton of people working there. Their wraps are amazing and their salads are pretty good size. I ordered the stuffed grape leaves for my mom and their were only too. Wasn't to happy about that. Also ordered the stuffed pepper and their is literally only one. Still worth the price.

    (4)
  • Lauren S.

I've been to the Bucharest downtown and it was always fine. Not great, not terrible. But I just went to this new one and was not satisfied with the food I got. I thought they had a Greek salad at the one downtown but maybe not because they don't have one here. So I got a house salad and when I got home realized there was no lettuce. It was just a sad looking little pile of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and green peppers with some feta on top. I ended up adding some spinach from my fridge to spruce it up. My boyfriend got the stuffed pepper and it was somewhere between good and ok. Kind of bland.

    (2)
  • Leila C.

Just as tasty as the original! Stay with the chicken shwarma wrap, the pickles and garlicky thoom sauce are to die for. The ladies who work the registers seem miserable and put out.

    (4)
  • Brigitte B.

Just as good as the original. Usually a shorter wait time and free parking. Need I say more? This is my go to for schwarmas and curly fries in metro Detroit.

    (5)
  • Kimberly K.

Shwarmas not nearly as good as original location (on Park St). Bad customer service. Waited an hour for delivery, they lost my order and could not tell me where or when it would show up. Very rude on the phone. Shwarmas used to be good but not worth the trouble anymore!

    (1)
  • Pete D.

So like most things in life there is a good and bad. The same is true with restaurant s and in the case of Bucharest Grill it could not be more true. I think there may be two locations ( Cork Town) in the Detroit area but I have only gone to the one on Michigan Ave. Let's start with the good, Nice place, clean, easy parking and a good looking menu. But the type is too small and make it hard to read and see the prices. The prices are a fare value for the food that you get and the service is quick. These are a great start for any restaurant but now the real test the quality of the food. I found the Chicken "Bucharest Shawarmas way too salty which covered the taste of everything and make it very hard to enjoy the food. Like every consumer I want to get the most for my money but the price is only second to the taste of the food. It could be that I got the wrong item, but i don't think so. If I come back I won't get the same item, if I come back.

    (2)
  • Cor C.

Not just bad but AWFUL! I just wasted $10.55 for a park burger which was over cooked and completely dry served on what resembled a sub bun which was as dry as the Saraha and falling apart plus an order of straight fries. Never ever again!
