Cute restaurant in a cute town. We went with my 7-friend party to get brunch before heading back to New York. We all order different things from the full breakfast, the French toasts or the chicken sandwich... Everything was very tasty and affordable, and the service was fast. Just one tip: if you order the packages or French toasts, ask the waitress for the kitchen maple syrup, because the syrup on the dining tables are just... tasteless.

It's a tiny place, with large portions. The staff was excellent. They gave us very good recommendations and mixed an very good Cosmo. We were dazzled by the decor and lighting. It made for a cozy, almost magical experience. Parking? Yeah, that's a challenge.

Nice cosy place with good breakfast/brunch options: they make use of good produces and dishes are well executed. Please ask for the real mapple syrup for your pancakes, by default they will not offer it and will serve you a horrendous corn syrup for substitute (honestly, this is an absolute shame in a state so close to Quebec).

This was very good!! I got the eggs Florentine Benedict and the Hollandaise sauce is homemade. The only complaint was the spinach was clearly frozen and not fresh but still yummy. My boyfriend got the sausage breakfast quesadilla and that was delicious too. The only complaint from him is that his girlfriend is yelp reviewing during breakfast!

One of the best breakfasts I've had in Maine. The food is excellent quality, home cooked by mom and pop in the back, often served by the daughter up front. Awesome family operation; they will take care of you. I've gone back again and again. Not only is the quality higher than almost any place in the Biddeford/Saco area, but the prices are just a bit cheaper, too. Go there!

I had my usual breakfast of eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. Tom had an omelette and toast. Excellent food, fast service, nice staff. Restaurant is very clean and cheerful. I'll be back.

Excellent Breakfast spot! Good Bloody Mary and great breakfast Quesadilla! Parking was tricky, right in town. Small seating area, but great service and awesome cooked to order food! Good pricing and huge portions! We'll go again for sure!

We had a very nice breakfast at the new moon this morning. Service was excellent and the food equally excellent. I had a the full moon breakfast which was a hearty two eggs, two slices of bacon, a huge , thick slice of country ham, and 2 fat sausage links, and three pancakes. What a tasty man-sized meal for this good ol' boy from Pennsyltucky!! The coffee was good enough, but less than what I would expect from a trendy eatery like The New Moon Restaurant! My wife had the Eggs Florentine and I had a bite- oh my word what a delight! (I'm poet and didn't know it). Parking was not easy, had to make a u-turn and then go around the block while waiting for a gaggle of locals to say goodbye and leave in 3 separate cars! Be prepared to park around the corner. No worries, the walk is worth it.

Hidden gem!! Thank the Lord for Yelp! Without it, we never would have found this place! My absolute favorite was the biscuits and gravy! Monty Carlo was delish! Our waiter, although very busy, kept his cool and was very personable. All the food was made from scratch and so so good. It's a small, clean, quaint place. It was like eating at your nana's house on your birthday when she makes all your favorites!

This is a great local place to get some good breakfast! The service was friendly and the food great!

What a great place! Bright and clean....pleasant staff...and great food (sampled only breakfast). Doing what restaurants are supposed to do, and doing it well. A pleasure to stop there, only wish it was closer to our home, or on a route we used more often!

I am a huge fan of breakfast foods and just moved to the saco area recently. I've been trying different breakfast joints and by far half-moon is the best. It's a quaint little place that reminds you of grandma's breakfast. I tried the Spanish omelet. It had the right amount of spice and was filling. The home fries were just like the ones my grandma cooked me when I was little. I was suprised by how cheap they are and the great customer service. You must check them out!

We were looking for a nice place for breakfast before heading home after a great vacation and we saw some good reviews for here and man were they right. Everything was great! If you go for breakfast get the hash and the beans... So good!! Pancakes were awesome, my Greek omelette was perfect. Service was wonderful and they are great with kids as well. The lunch and dinner menus looked great as well. Next time we are passing through we will definitely be stopping in!

  • Melissa C.

Love the chipotle sauce on the Spanish omelette. I've been here several times and the food is always great. The Bloody Mary needs some work, every time I get it it's watered down for some reason. The home fries are bomb, you have to try them. Love the fact that on a Saturday they serve brunch until 1

I was the first customer of the day. I have no idea why. The restaurant is on the smaller side, maybe 30 seats. Prices are average, and worth every penny. By far, this was the best breakfast I've ever had. I ordered the garden omelette. EXCELLENT!! Omelette was light and fluffy, veggies were cooked to perfection. Home fries were real potatoes, not the shredded kind. I didn't have the coffee, but if the meal was any indication, it was delicious, too. I highly recommend a visit!!

  • Jack B.

This resturant was amazing i had a ham and cheese omelete, with French toast and it may have been the best breakfast i have ever had and I'm gluten free. If I could give over five stars i would have, go there for breakfast whenever possible.

  • Michael B.

The only downfall of this place is it is small so usually you have to wait a few minutes. That of course is also a good sign of the quality. Service is good and the food is great! They work to please their customers and it's a great way to start your day!

  • Paula B.

I'ld love to be able to rate the food here but sadly we never made it thru the door. I opened the door and there was a wait and the hostess looked over and I said, we are 4 are you taking names and she said, no and shut the door!! So I did and we left.. How rude can you get!!! That killed it for me. Also may I add that it wasn't cold outside!!

The food was delicious (the breakfast burrito is huge and tasty), and the service was quick and friendly! I would definitely come back if I'm back in the area!

Wonderful breakfast. Eggs florentine and a new moon breakfast. Food came out fast. Homemade. Delicious. We were not disappointed.

I've been to the New Moon a couple of times and have been pretty pleased. Their sausage gravy and biscuits are great. Their waffles leave something to be desired. My husband also had the crepes and said they were good. I think I'll return again if I happen to be in the area at breakfast time again.

Great homemade corn beef hash. Clean and friendly. No complaints here! Crescent breakfast sandwich was great. Home fries were delicious!

I will start by saying that I have needed to review this amazing place for weeks! Since moving to the area I have been a bit underwhelmed by the "good" breakfast places. After living in the Portland area for such a long time I have become spoiled and well versed in amazing brunch selections. Needless to say New Moon has successfully filled this void. The bright yellow building is hard to miss and as soon as you step into the door it is overly welcoming. The interior of the restaurant changes seasonally and has an "at home" welcoming feel. As you walk in you are welcomed by a very friendly and welcoming staff! Not only can you watch them smile and chit chat with regulars and newcomers alike, but watching their teamwork to keep the whole restaurant flowing smoothing, is not only amazing, but reassuring. Although it isn't a big restaurant and is usually busy, I have never waited longer than 10 minutes for a table! This might change as the popularity of it grows, but for now, it's nice not to wait a long time for a great breakfast! If you do go, and I highly suggest you do, please get the pancakes! I don't know what they do at this establishment but I have decided to refer to them as "crack-cakes" because they are overly addicting and sooo fluffy! For some reason they always have this light burnt sugar crust around the outside that just takes a simple, everyday pancake, to new heights! I will say, I am not overly fancy with my breakfast. I usually want a plate that has an egg or two (with some hollandaise on the side), some homefries, a piece of toast (for the eggs) and a pancake. All that I have ordered here has been fabulous! The eggs are always cooked exactly how I want them, the white toast they have is fresh, and buttery and their homefries are great! They have everything from omelets, to benedicts, to crepes, to fresh muffins, to biscuits and gravy and even a Bellini or Bloody Mary if you wish! All I can say is Thank You to New Moon for being another "Go-To" place within the area!!

My boyfriend and I love this place. We discovered it a year ago while visiting from Portland, Oregon. We ate here three days out of seven during our visit to Saco. The food is great! Coffee is good. My only complaint is that they stop serving breakfast at 11am. The breakfast is too good to stop serving that early. We'll be back but only if we can make it for breakfast.

You'll see from my check-in trail that I'm a regular here (sadly not as often as I'd like). This place is reliably excellent at delivering what I want in a breakfast place. It's clean, has solid menu of reasonably priced breakfast classics (especially hollandaise!!), excellent service and prompt delivery of the food (I'm a work-week patron). And it's got a completely comfortable, unpretentious atmosphere. Cathy the chef does a great job with all the breakfast standards, and happily she doesn't seem to mind patrons like me who prefer to customize the menu to their own liking. Cathy's daughter Charlotte is my regular server, and she's the bomb, a real pro. Just attentive enough to be sure that coffee or juice is never empty, but never hovering or intrusive. And just the right amount of wit and personality for 7:30 in the morning - none of that overbearing uber-cheerfulness that bombards you in some breakfast places. This is a 4.5 star place for me, only because I rarely if ever give out 5 stars. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.

Excellent breakfast, coffee and service. Our server was so nice and attentive, we will be back! Update - Came back for breakfast the very next day. Lovely again! This time I had the cinnamon bun pancakes which were out of this world.

Cute little restaurant. For breakfast there was quite a few options. I got a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. My boyfriend got an eggs Benedict. The hollindaise sauce wasn't all that flavorful. It was lacking acidity. Probably the best tasting thing we had were the beans which you could choose to have as a side. There were nice big chunks of bacon in them and sauce that the beans were in was very flavorful. If I were to go back I would have tried one of their waffle or pancake options that the table next to us got. It looked and smelled delicious.

Update: 9/7. Fourth time here. Horrendously long wait. Only two waitstaff on duty. One looked as if she might have still been training. The understaffing created a situation where the waiter and waitress had to do too much at one, forgetting simple rules of safe food handling such as handling money and clearing/cleaning tables (touching dirty plates, wiping down tables) but not washing hands before resetting the table, touching/putting out clean silverware, and serving food prepared in the kitchen. Gross and unsafe. They are better than this based on my previous experience.

We've always liked New Moon for Breakfast and I had high hopes for dinner, but it didn't work out. The problem was the abysmal service. We walked in, sat down, I ordered a drink, and then it was like we didn't exist. We eventually flagged someone down and ordered, but it was ridiculous. The food was slow in coming out but when it finally arrived, it was delicious. Fortunately we didn't need anything because they didn't have any interest in coming back to our table. There were two of them and they were busy chatting with their friends (one waitress has a daughter with a torn ACL and amazingly, the other one complains that good help is hard to find.) We almost had to throw something at one of them to get our check. I don't think we smelled, we were just two old white people in a sea of old white people and I don't know what their problem was. I'd still give them 5 stars for breakfast, but for dinner it's barely two stars because of the total lack of service. It averages out to 3.5 but I'm rounding down because I don't even want to go back for breakfast. It's great, but I never want to run into either of those two clowns again. For what it's worth, our experience may be unusual. My wife has already talked to some friends about it and they were surprised. This is especially sad because my wife and I have been big fans. I was the first person to review New Moon here and so far I'm the only one to post pictures. I'm pretty sure the owners don't recognize me and I try to be anonymous, but it's disheartening to be treated badly after doing what I could to help a small local business. There have been reports of servers getting fired as a result of bad Yelp reviews and so I typically don't mention the names when there are problems. But if the owners want to know the names of this dynamic duo, I encourage them to send me a message (hint: their initials are C and T.) At the very least, these two need to be talked to and watched very closely.

I really enjoy a good breakfast place but this one is wonderful. Lots of great options on the menu and everything was delicious. We have creeps, French toast, blueberry pancakes and a grill cranberry muffin! All was great. My friends from we're away were very impressed. We also had mimosas.

  • Bonnie M.

Great breakfast. Have been here a few times now and love it every time! Get the grilled muffin, any flavor but we prefer blueberry, it is so worth it! I always get the spinach and feta omelette with home fries and a side of hash and I always take home half and have breakfast the next day. The decor could use some help, and the interior is small and cramped but the food makes up for it. Go early to avoid crowds!

Love this place on the Square. One of the best places for Sunday morning breakfast. wish it was a little bigger though

Had a great breakfast here with two spicy and delicious bloody Mary's! I had the special: Maine crab and spinach omelette with home fries and toast, my hubby had home made beef hash. Service was quick and friendly and we spent a total of $36 w/ tip.

I came in for a Sunday morning brunch last weekend with my girlfriend to meet my Mother who drove up from Berwick. We had a lovely meal that included a round of drinks to start us off. I had the bloody mary which was good, but nothing special, it came with 3 olives and celery. My Mother had a Mimosa, and my girlfriend had the orange marmalade margarita, these drinks were about what you would expect, generously served. I had a standard 2 egg breakfast with their homemade hash which was very good, we also shared a half order of the biscuits and gravy, which I tried due to the other reviews, and I'm glad I did as it was exceptional. Service was friendly and attentive enough although the coffee could have come around just a tad more often. The wait was short for Sunday brunch and we all left very full and happy.

One of my all time favorite places for breakfast and dinner. I have only had lunch there once but it was excellent. Very intimate, quaint restaurant with a staff that is eager to please. They can get very busy at dinner time so I suggest making reservations. Get there early for breakfast too! Just all around great food and staff.

Went here on a whim coming back from Portland. We walked in and the service was immediately accommodating and sat us (we were a party of five). I ordered the blueberry pancakes and cheese omelette. It was phenomenal. Pancakes were perfectly buttery. Definitely recommend this place.

4.5 out of 5 for this little gem. We decided to try this place for Mother's Day breakfast. We went early because I knew the place was cozy. Sat down right away, service was prompt with coffee and milk for the kids within minutes. Now let's talk about the food. Hubby had pancakes- delicious, fluffy with a crispy, sugary tasting edge. I had the crepes which were amazing, the fruit toppings were fresh (have had the displeasure of thick almost jelly like crepe toppings in the past YUCK). The kids enjoyed the fresh muffins. We sat near the kitchen so I could see the plates being carries out to other patrons....it all looked amazing. We timed it right, by 8:15 there were people waiting- it's a small place so I'm not sure how they handle the crowds- there is surely no space to wait. This is where my half a star went; I wish it was a bit bigger. Overall, we had a lovely experience. Great food and great service. Thanks New Moon.

Decided to try a breakfast place close to our hotel instead of hitting a "trendy" place in Portland. We were tourists who were disappointed in the usual recommendations (ie; places that had been written about in magazines). What an amazing find! The corned beef hash was the highlight of our trip (almost better then the lobster rolls!!). Not from a can as I've had before but homemade using unbrined beef (it was so good that my teenage son ate two orders of the breakfast special that included it and would have had a third but they were closing for the day!!). I even talked to the chef and got the recipe!! Great, friendly people and awesome service. Wish we lived closer as this would be a weekend go to hands down!!! It's the small places that have the best food.

Excellent breakfast! Food was outstanding (We had Irish eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, sausage gravy/biscuits) as was the Irish coffee. Service was quick and very friendly also. Prices were reasonable, especially given the quality of food served. Bright, inviting atmosphere. We will definitely be back again next time we are in town. There was no waiting, but even if there was, I definitely would!

Just had the spinach and feta omelette with tomato hollandaise sauce. The meal was delicious. The bacon was cooked perfectly for those who like it crispy. The waitstaff was prompt and very friendly. The coffee was good as well. I highly recommend New Moon for breakfast.

Roger and Cathy are back! We were so sad when Roger and Cathy closed Lilly Moon and moved away. That left a big gap in choices for breakfast and lunch in the area. Now that they're back there's balance in the universe. Cathy cooks breakfast and lunch and Roger will be doing dinners (call ahead for dinner hours). I love soft poached eggs on top of sausage gravy and biscuits and nobody in the area does it better than Cathy. Eggs, home fries, pancakes, bacon - it's all outstanding.

My husband and I stopped in once for breakfast on a Sunday, when it was packed, which is usually a sign of a good meal coming. Needing lunch when the folks were visiting from Upstate New York, we stopped in just before closing on a Tuesday. I wasn't sure what to expect, as there weren't many reviews for lunch. This was one risk definitely worth taking. The food was wonderful - fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. The seafood chowder and squash soup were hearty and delicious. The sandwiches (crab with spinach on multi-grain and Reuben) were homemade, rightsized and seasoned perfectly. The service was both quick and friendly. The pumpkin creme brulee had amazing flavor and surprisingly good texture. The restaurant is located in a small town square, is petite and cozy, and is charmingly decorated based on the season. The prices were completely reasonable. Summary: a cute and cozy place to eat with excellent food, freshly made; reasonably priced; home-cooked with a gourmet twist. This stop is well worth your time and money.

Ate here with my parents and children. We all ordered different things and we all really liked what we ordered. The Irish EB was delicious- tasty, well prepared hash was a treat. The blintz and crepes- I had a bite- were excellent. We will definitely be back.

sounded like a great restaurant. called yesterday at 12:15pm to see how late they were open on Sunday for brunch. Person answering the phone said they close at 1pm. Since we were already on our way, and 20 minutes out I asked for clarification about what the latest time they would be willing to seat and serve us. The person on the phone hung up on us. I didn't want to waste my time driving to get there before 1pm to have them not be willing to seat us so I don't think my request for clarification was too much to ask. Apparently the person on the phone thought so. I'm hoping the service to the tables is a little more helpful than that.

I had the Irish Benedict and it was definitely one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. It was so delicious! The place was quaint and nice. The server was very nice. I will definitely go back again if I"m ever back in Maine!

Im sorry to say this was one of the worst experiences I have had in Maine. The service was terrible. Our server was rude and seemed annoyed that any customers were there. my sandwich was so bad. I ordered the crab and spinach and it was frozen soggy spinach and foul smelling crab. completely inedible. I would have liked to tell our server but I was afraid she might yell at me or throw a plate my way! I was really looking forward to breakfast here but I wil never go back.

My friends and I were looking for a brunch spot after our long, fun and exhausting weekend camping at Old Orchard Beach - and so so glad we found this place. The servers were extremely accommodating and friendly - we were an un-reserved party of 7 during rush brunch - even though we had to split up it was fine, the wait was barely 20 minutes long. My partner and I sat in the sunny corner and both had a breakfast cocktail. I had the peach bellini which was absolutely divine and refreshing, and my partner had the Dark Side of the Moon, which was kahlua and dark rum blended with coffee with cool whip on top. So good and really gave us a nice kick for the day :-) Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Spanish Omelet and my partner had the Irish Eggs Benedict (Benedict with corned beef hash instead of ham) and we also shared a half order of Sausage and gravy biscuits. Everything was DELICIOUS - I loved my Spanish omelet because it was actually spicy (lots of jalapeños) and had a really yummy chipotle aioli on top. The sausage gravy was to die for - and so was my partners Benedict. So happy to have stopped by - I will definitely be coming again next time we are up on vacation

Delightful and delicious find while traveling back to Boston from a weekend getaway in Maine. Irish Benedict and Italian omelet were perfect - sausage biscuits and gravy 1/2 order, da bomb. Thanks Yelpers for your reviews which guided us here - great breakfast spot and extremely friendly and efficient wait staff too!

I visited this place with some friends for brunch and it was delicious! the service was pretty good, the food was EXCELLENT and the prices were reasonable! I had pancakes and my friends had an omelet and eggs benedict. The toast with the omelet was pretty burned and the servers provided new bread for us quickly! I will return!

One of the best breakfasts I've had anywhere. The dining room is kind of cramped, but clean and tastefully decorated. The food was impeccable - biscuits and gravy -- among the best I've had anywhere, even in the south. Had a terrific ratio of sausage to gravy and the gravy wasn't bland like some places -- had a nice peppery kick - breakfast burrito -- made with chorizo and had a medium spicy salsa painted on top - omelets -- very fluffly and had a lot of eggs. Prices were very reasonable. Will be sure to visit again on our next trip to Maine.

Delicious food. Friendly staff. TERRIBLY SLOW service. We have been there multiple times. We understand they were packed. But it is not acceptable that customers have to wait half hr just to order, then another 45 min till food is served. If you know you are gonna be packed, hire another server!! Reinvent your work flow for a more efficient service! It makes NO sense that they would let one server run around for all those tables. Last time we went, we sat at the table for 20 min without anybody taking the order from us and had to leave. Yes, they were packed but it doesn't make sense to run a restaurant to a capacity if you can't handle the number of customers/tables that fit in your restaurant. Either limit the # of tables you can handle or you serve who you commit to. Hire another server. Very simple.

I have eaten at New Moon a few times since it opened. I remember enjoying Lilly Moon so I was happy to see the same owners back (although sad to see Mia's go). Breakfast is outstanding. The eggs florentine are wonderful and the home fries are just that, made at home. A friend had the sausage and biscuits and although I dot eat meat, it looks and I was told it was delicious. Most recently I walked over for lunch and had a gorgonzola salad and the French onion soup. Both were outstanding. The dressing for the salad was their house Caesar which was a little untraditional with its slight mustardy flavor, but different was good in this case! The soup was incredibly flavorful and stands to be the best French onion I've ever had. Hands down the price and quality of food makes this soon to be a frequent spot for me! Try it and you won't be disappointed!
