We came here for dinner after a recommendation from the innkeeper that it was a good place for a casual dinner. The atmosphere was rustic and nautical with a lovely view of the harbor. The food was good. My husband had the lobster roll (with nearly every establishment boasting they have the best :) ). I had the salmon with a sesame ginger sauce (barely there--however). The table where we were seated was directly in the glare of the setting sun. We wanted to move--as there were plenty of open tables but was told the sun would be out of our eyes in a few minutes. No. Didn't happen. I would probably give this another try--the location is great and there were other items on the menu that looked promising.

Don't expect the best food, expect fun. The food as always been average and that is that. The prices refect that. Just have fun. For drinks, this pace rocks in the warm seaon(s) and usually open in april through the fall.. Best place in town to sit outside and take in the locals and the tourists and the boats, water. It's just plain fun. Lots of seating in comfy adirondack chairs as well as tables if you want to chow. Just chill here, don't judge. Have fun and take it easy! And take a cab if you have too many dark n stormys. The bartender will let you know and for $22 with Coastal Cab you'll save $7,000+ in legal fees, potential job loss and plain old embarassment or bring a dd with you who truly is a Designated Driver.

We stopped here for lunch: lobster roll, chowder and steamed mussels. I'm surprised at all the rave reviews as we found it all quite ordinary. Nothing wrong, but nothing really special about any of it.

I just wanted a glass of wine. Pretty simple. After standing on each side of the bar for a few minutes and couldn't even get a hello, I asked the hostess if I could sit in the many empty chairs on the deck. Was told those are for bar patrons. Well now I know why they were empty-we can't get drinks. Gave up after about 10 minutes of waiting. What a waste of a lovely view and what looked like a nice menu. Again, not one simple hello or what can I get you.

I've been patronizing Arundel Wharf for a few years with friends who visit Maine. Everyone used to love it, but sadly the Wharf is off to a lackluster start for 2011. We went for lunch on the holiday weekend and were seriously underwhelmed. The service was slow and unattentive. Food portions have dramatically downsized from last year even though all the prices have increased. The food quality was just okay, definitely nothing special. Friends had lobster rolls -- the portion was adequate but everyone said it had no flavor. I had a cheeseburger, which used to be generously sized and very tasty. Regrettably that's no longer true .... the burger was about same size as a $3 McD's or Wendys, but at the Wharf it was a whopping $9. French fries accompanied our sandwiches .... in child-sized portions of literally 12 small french fries apiece. The location is great -- it would be difficult to screw up the water view from the deck. But it is possible to diminish the pleasure of the experience, and they seem to have done that.

Dining this close to the water was worth the trip alone. We visited for dinner n a busy Friday evening and they honored our reservation to the minute. We each ordered a garden salad and our entrees were Cajun baked haddock, the lobster roll, and Mac and cheese for our daughter. The Cajun baked haddock came with green beans and mashed potatoes. The lobster roll was average compared to others in the area. The baked haddock meal was delicious. The cornbread in the beginning was very good but the rolls were a bit hard. The salads were good and a decent size. The service was excellent throughout. The portions were acceptable for the price we paid. We would go back.

I rarely write dining reviews but this deserves a huge thumbs down. A pretty spot with tent-by-the-water spot but ohmygod what a dining nightmare. Menu is lackluster at best and quality was beyond horrible, even for a tourist-spot. Chowder was only so-so, cobb salad came with oxidized brown avocado and rotting lettuce and "house-made" pie came in what was a terrible-tasting pre-fab crust. Drink came in a paper cup and was never refilled. Service was friendly enough but woefully inattentive. The only good thing about this restaurant is the free parking. This is dining for the lowest common denominator of tourist crowd, but even tourists deserve better. Ick.

I live in the area and this is a favorite of mine. 5 star outdoor patio with excellent views. 5 star drinks and bartenders. 2 star food. 2 star service. If you're looking for a great spot to have drinks outside in Kennebunkport, this is your spot. If you're looking for a dinner or lunch spot you can find much better fare elsewhere in town.

I have only had dinner here a few times and you really can't go wrong with fried seafood, clam chowder and lobster in this area and they do a good job. But! what I like most about the Arundel Wharf is the deck. After a long day of working at the Inn, I enjoy catching a drink on the deck with the last bit of sun of the day, right on the water. You cannot beat the location right on the river in the late afternoon on a hot summer day.

Comfortable relaxed dining for adults and some children. Basic, nothing fancy menu items, nothing you couldn't make at home if you had the time and the ingredients. Dessert crisp obviously made ahead and refrigerated- no crisp, little fruit. But for a simple dinner out, it's ok. Enjoy the Adirondack chairs on the deck.

Wait Wait Wait.....oh, Hold on and Wait!!!! the food was OK, nothing great....the garden salad (cheapest thing on the menu) was great!... got the fried clam po-boy...came with fries... food came out warm not hot.... pretty typical for Maine.... put it this way they have a good view of the water and .... did I mention, BE PREPAIRED TO WAIT....

This restaurant gave me very good beer, and very good lobster, which is exactly what I went in for. I was with a group of about 15, and the wait staff did an excellent job keeping up with us. Local beer was fresh and flowing, and the big chairs out on the deck are an ideal place to go out and soak up a summer evening. For dinner, I had the clambake with a nice fat steamed lobster on top. The lobster was fresh, though I can't claim to have a great basis for comparison coming from California. All of the clams and mussels in the pot were great, though a sales associate of mine brought up that there should have been some broth at the bottom of the pot, and I agree. For places in this price point (Kennebunkport reasonable, not regular world reasonable) it was great for a good sit-down, sociable dinner.

We were there this past memorial day weekend. There was no wait for the inside seating and the ambiance was good. The avacado stuffed with lobster appetizer was delicious!! I had the halibut dinner special and bf had the swordfish. Both were good. Our waitress was friendly but seems inexperienced and messed up our orders (dinner and drink). I would go there again just for the lobster stuffed avacado appetizer!! It's much better than the lobster roll at the famous Clam Shack, hands down.

We've been coming to Maine for 7 years and each year we go here for the reason KH stated...a great deck. There will not be an 8th year...even for the deck. They are absolutely not interested in being family friendly. There is only a kid's menu for dinner...doesn't make a bit of sense. Don't waste your time.

I came up from NY with a recommendation to eat here. Appitizer was great then came my lazy lobster...with a dead pincher bug in it. Calmly I asked to speak to a manager and the woman look at my plate and quickly took it away, without apology. After offering me a free drink, which I refused, she went the the bar and ate her own dinner. In the end they didn't charge us for our meals, drinks included, but the lack of apology leads me to this disappointing review.

I give this place three stars based soley on the location. A gorgeous deck sitting right on the water, surrounded by boats and a view of the "port". It is a good place to get a drink before dinner or apres beach. Food is just bad though. Syco's finest warmed up. Bartender is rude & drinks watered down/sugared up with sour. Try Stripers down the road for better food, service, & drinks served in glasses.

  • Mike M.

Not bad but not great. Fantastic view on the deck but when tho bugs come out its unbearable. Salad was great as was the lobsterpasta but the fish special was a bit cold. Well give it another shot sometime and avoid bug hours.

BEST LOBSTER STEW anywhere... and wicked good Lobster Rolls! We have been making the pilgrimage to Arundel Wharf every summer for about a decade. One thing you can always count on is the Lobster Stew. Think of it as the best bisque you've ever had - but even creamer AND amazingly fresh. No tiny pieces of lobster here... think entire claws and large, delicious, sweet, tender pieces of juicy locally-caught fresh-from-the-sea Lobster! The Lobster Rolls are probably the best in Kennebunkport. That's saying a lot for a place that is full of lobster rolls. Plenty of tender lobster in the perfect Maine roll bun that is perfectly toasted and just enough mayo to hold it together (seriously... like maybe 1/4 of a teaspoon? It's a nice menu and there are other great items to choose from, including outstanding New England Clam Chowder and even some non-seafood fare. The atmosphere comes in many varieties... Outdoor deck with locally-made Adirondack-style chairs or Umbrella Tables or a more traditional tent-covered / open sided deck. There is also an outdoor stand-up bar and a more traditional wood-heavy dining room for those very hot days or cold nights. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that the receptionists / management there isn't the nicest (everybody seems to say that about the Arundel Wharf). They act a little like they are doing you a favor just to seat you... and they aren't flexible about giving you a specific table after about 6:30pm. It's not the type of place where they express appreciation for your dining there as you walk by them to leave (sometimes they even stand in your way). That all being said - the food is outstanding and the choice of environments offers something for everybody. I would definitely recommend lunch or dinner at Arundel Wharf.

Once again this was my maiden voyage to this establishment. The atmosphere here is very light and up beat with people eating dinner and others just stopping by the bar to hang out and enjoy the view. Service was very good and our plates moved on and off the table at a good pace. The food was another plus. The clam chowder was great, but was a little on the creamy side. I had the Pasta Malange (seafood pasta). The sauce was a creamy cherry type sauce and had a nice taste to it. Great place if your here on vavaction or live in the area.

The Arundel Wharf Restaurant is walking distance to the square, overlooking the docks. It's got a great location... so I think they feel they'll get a crowd whether the restaurant is terribly good or not. They have 3 seating options: out on the deck under the sun with a bar and limited menu, out on the deck under a tent with a full menu, and inside with a full menu. Sarah and I sat inside as it was getting rather cool, and the outside options were rather loud when we arrived (about 7 on a Saturday night). First the food: to start, Sarah and I shared the garden salad (garden variety), the New England clam chowder (very rich, needed pepper), the mussels (very garlicky good), and the soft-shelled clams (good in their hard-shelled ways, but kind of funny looking). We then had the seafood pasta (they have another name for it, but it's the one with lobster, shrimp, and scallops over linguine and a cream sauce). It was the highlight, and outstanding. Speaking of which, our waiter, who Sarah asks that we keep nameless, talked us out of their special of the night, the lobster pasta, for this one. He did this funny thing where he bent down, and looked both ways for any eavesdroppers before telling us the lobster pasta was $10 more but you get just as much lobster with the seafood pasta. We appreciated that. On the other hand, our waiter brought us Chardonnay instead of the Prosecco we ordered, and he was challenged with clearing our plates before bringing us more plates. So overall, an OK experience. 3 stars for the great views and seafood pasta. Meh for everything else.

Adirondack chair heaven! Overlooking the docks, their light fare late lunch hit the spot but the location was where it was really at. Watch out for the sea gulls though, there is one in particular. I call him snacker, that stalks food, one look away and half your sandwich may be gone!

Charming place to sit outside and relax after walking around Kennebukport. The clam chowder was above average, with sufficient clams and potatoes. The steamed clams were tender and cooked just right. The turkey sandwich special with cranberry, sprouts, on toasted sourdough was super tasty. Not an extensive menu, but for what we ordered it was a decent place to spend lunch time.

Loved this place!!! My boyfriend and I stopped here one afternoon after browsing the shops in dock square. We did drive and park our car in the lot behind the restaurant but you could easily walk from the square. We sat on the deck over looking the ocean. It was a great atmosphere and quite busy for 3:00 in the afternoon. We ordered frozen drinks and cheese and crackers plate which came with three types of cheeses, apple slices, grapes and strawberries. I wish there was a little more variety on the crackers which were just wrapped plain butter crackers. The service was excellent, we were checked on frequently but not too much. I would absolutely go here again and again!!! In fact I am bringing my mom next month!

Went here for dinner. My wife an I both had the lobster bisque. Finally we found a place that put chunks of lobster in the bisque. It was really good. I had the crab rangoons. It was ok. My wife had the stuffed avacado with lobster. It was lobster over avacodo. It was 2 stars.

It surprises me that this restaurant has gotten such low reviews, everyone I know loves this place. I have brought friends from out of town, and now when they visit in the summer they asked to be taken back. Nothing can beat a lunch at the Wharf and a seat on the deck. It's a beautiful location with good food to boot. Because I like the outside seating, I usually go for lunch, and I am never disappointed with the chicken bacon ranch wrap and the clam chowder. For the price, there is no better place to grab a bite to eat on the water.

  • Arthur K.

It is the kind of seaside resort place that you would want to hang out and have a beer. You can't beat its location...it sits along the river that runs through Kennebunkport. The food is typical Maine bar food - assorted fried seafood and lobster, burgers, etc. We sat outside under the tent and it was the perfect spot for a late afternoon lunch. The beer selection could have been better, however. That's why I gave them 3 stars.

Great deck for having cocktails during the sunset. BUT skip the dining room, my husband ordered the lobster pasta (one of the specials) it was $38 and literally had 5 small pieces of lobster, way overpriced. We asked why and the waiter said the lobster rolls use FROZEN lobster, the dinners use fresh which is pricier and the pasta supposedly had a decent portion of fresh lobster, also got calamari and haddock, both mediocre. . The lobster rolls are good but would go to the Ramp on Cape Porpoise to get my lobster roll fix next time.

  • John C.

I'll defer to and recommend that you read all of the reviews - some very insightful observations (and I'm not talking about "I went there and didn't like it.") - to be explicit, this is 5-star on the food, lunch or dinner, even without the deck. Never mind it's George Herbert Walker Bush's favorite - and he's a class guy. The usual for me is a bowl of clam chowder, maybe onion rings and the lobster club - it is a homerun! Why isn't it 5-star is simple - it's not kid friendly and anytime I've gone it's been with a large group and while they try like heck, their staff never quite seems to be able to hit the curve ball. Not like Barnacle Billy's in Ogunquit by contrast. Add in that it's not cheap and it loses the elusive 5th star. But damn, you've gotta try that lobster club!

Really nice view of the river and great margarita! Food was good, but the lazy lobster was definitely over priced. It's a really nice place to go when you're on vacation. Great view, good food and nice service. Server was attentive and we did not feed rushed at all, even though it was busy.

If you're looking for quality food this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a nice place to have a drink or two and look at some great scenery this is a great place. I came here for lunch with my wife and kids during the week. The restaurant wasn't very busy and we were able to get a table on the deck with ease. I'm not sure what was up with the hostess. She barely grumbled three words to me and ignored my request for a high chair. Thankfully I was able to find one on my own. We started out with the fried clam appetizer. I'm not sure where the clams came from but they were the smallest fried clams I have ever had. They were completely devoid of any taste as well. These were not even close to fresh clams. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out of a can. At $23.00 stay away from the fried clam appetizer. My lobster roll was okay. Their was a generous amount of lobster meat. Too bad it was slathered with too much watery mayo. Our server was great. He was a bit overwhelmed getting 4 or 5 tables at once. He came through with a great effort and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food here is mediocre at best. The scenery is top notch. I'll be back but not for a meal.

  • Mike C.

Place is good if you are into mediocre restaurant quality food. Think chili's or tgi Fridays. Only difference is it's about three times more expensive. My shoreman's pie came out cold and tasted of regret. My wife ordered an overdressed ceaser salad and bagged lobster soup. Weight staff was bad mouthing another employee the entire time. We both left the place with an overall feeling of disappointment and slightly ripped off. Don't go here.

We went Sat. for lunch. Great place right on the river. Large outdoor deck. Covered bar and seating area. A perfect day. Waited about 45 min. Got a beer at the bar and waited on the deck in some nice chairs. Got seated our server was Jenn-36. She was great and very busy. GF got the Pulled pork sandwich. I got the burger. Burger was better than I thought it would be. Cooked perfectly, GF liked her sandwich. Great weather and company and good food.

The atmosphere is what gets the three stars here. Unfortunately, the food was 2 stars. We ordered the asian inspired crab rangoon dip. The first few bites seemed good but then it was kind of sickening. We also ordered the fried clam sandwich which was soggy and lip (yuck). My fiancé ordered the crab quesadilla and it was pretty horrible. KEY POINT** Just go there to drink..don't eat the food.

Great food and location. The servings are very nice. I had the lobster bisque bowl and the avocado with crab. Both were fantastic. The server was funny and very pleasant. I recommend it highly! Try to sit outside.

I go here several times every summer. If you get the right bartender they have great margarita's. Their fish and chips and Lobster Club sandwich are really, really good. I love sitting in the Adirondack chairs with a margarita. The con: the parking lot is too small.

  • Libbie A.

Friendly hostess seated us on the deck promptly for Sunday lunch. Lobster club was stuffed with delicious lobster and the haddock sandwich was cooked perfectly. Soup special was a cold watermelon ginger. Weird but actually very good. Fast service. Alisha waited on us and she kept up the friendly and efficient service even after dealing with a high maintenance, crabby customer. Some folks need to chill out and relax.

May I preface this review by noting that I am a native-born Massachusetts gal and that means I've grown up on a steady diet of New England fare. That being said, my visit last month to Arundel Wharf was truly my favorite New England/seafood experience ever! From start to finish, everything we ordered was amazing. (I will note the one disappointment, which was that the caesar salad was quite over-dressed, but as it wasn't my entree, I can overlook the single flaw.) I had the fish & chips, which were just lightly dusted with cornmeal vs. batter-fried, giving them a light and crispy texture and allowing the fresh fish to be enjoyed. The fries were perfect and I was so pleased that the coleslaw was also perfect! I am almost always disappointed by the overly mayo-dressed, tasteless coleslaws served alongside fried seafood at most places. Theirs was sweet/tangy while still including mayo, the traditional way. My companions enjoyed steamers, the lobster chowder and lobsters which they too, thoroughly enjoyed and proclaimed the best of anywhere they'd tried (also native New Englanders, like myself). They REALLY raved about the lobster chowder.. I truly recommend this place and especially to sit outside while the weather's still nice. Nothing pairs better with fresh New England seafood than the pleasant ocean air and view. :) Kudos to whoever is responsible for this place!

We recently had dinner here while vacationing. A few days before our trip I called and made a reservation. A very sweet lady assisted me on the phone and was very eager to help. I mentioned to her that it was for a special occasion and she recommended their lovely window seat. The view was amazing!!! We arrived about 30 minutes early and enjoyed a drink on the deck. One of our drinks accidentally spilled and they were kind enough to immediately replace it, on the house. Once seated we were greeted by our friendly waiter, BJ. He was great! We enjoyed a couple of cups of clam chowder which was excellent. Next up, stuffed lobster and lobster pasta. The stuffed lobster was very rich and filling while the lobster pasta had a ton of lobster meat and also delicious. The price was moderate and somewhere we would visit again.

We had a pleasant dinner there a week ago and returned for lunch with friends yesterday. Regretfully, it was a poor experience as the food was mediocre. The mussels were tiny and overcooked, the crab stuffed avocado had no flavor (suspect it had been frozen instead of fresh). My husband said his haddock sandwich wasn't good either. We ordered some rolls which were hard, literally. For effect I dropped one on the table which landed with a clunk. Hopefully this was an off day because it is a lovely place to dine but I shall not hurry back.

We had a superb meal here recently, when the Labor Day crowds had departed. Excellent food, wonderful, attentive service, and the setting outdoors on the deck can't get any better. Almost missed the old days, with the big drinking crowd, but the food is so much better now, it's still wonderful. You can't go wrong!

  • Lynn A.

Pricey for the quality food you get. Don't mind paying the high price but when a salad cost $9 and what you get is a layer of lettuce with croutons on top, not worth it.

Went for lunch which was delicious. The lobster BLT is definitely worth coming for and if you can get a table outside it's a great view.

Such a wonderful restaurant. I work in Arundel, and went there for the first time about two months ago. The laid back atmosphere, the food, the Adirondack deck seating- all bring together a truly exceptional experience. I would highly recommend coming here for a drink, or food or both. You will not be disappointed.

Great place for lunch out on the deck. Inside seating not worth it since food is just okay. Go grab a drink and sit by the river!

Glad we tried this place before we left Kennebunkport. Best meal of our memorial day weekend. Stuffed lobster was awesome and scallops were perfect. Sit on the deck. Watch the sunset and order a mojito. I thought a lobster was a lobster but this was better than the rest.

We visit Arundel Wharf once a year on our family vacation. It is usually our go-to place because we have two children under five. Usually, the volume at our table is unpleasant for other diner's so we head for their deck outside so we can feed oyster crackers to the ducks and let our kids be themselves. This visit reaffirmed that we really ONLY go for the outdoor deck... the food just isn't what it should be. For over $200 worth of fried food and drinks, it should be the best we have ever had. It just wasn't. Fried chicken fingers and fries for the kids, fried clams for my Mom were okay. 2 orders of Lazy Man's Lobster was fresh and delicious but our sides were cold. Actually, all of our dishes were. I had to wait over fifteen minutes for my margarita, which strangely came in a martini glass, while the rest of my table had their beverages ahead of mine. The only saving grace was our server who was super friendly and even stopped what he was doing to take an annoying family picture of us. Friendly atmosphere but I would make it more of a drink-on-the-water destination than a dining experience.

$22 for 9 very small, over-cooked fried clams as an appetizer? Need I say more? If you are a 'local', you definitely get better service, attention. What these people don't realize is that the tourists keep this business alive....although I don't know why.

This place is a great place to stop by and get a quick bite. Good food and great location combine to form a wonderful place to visit while visiting Dock Square. I recommend sitting on the outdoor deck, particularly where the umbrellas are not under the tent. Overall it is a great place, especially kid friendly.

Beautiful view and venue. Decent service. Not so decent food. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon and opted to not wait for an outdoor table. The outdoor area is great if you want to enjoy drinks and the view but not worth the wait if you were planning to eat anything substantial. The Maine-style lobster stew was great (a cup gets you the simple stew with a whole de-shelled lobster claw). Everything else... kinda sucks. The fried calamari came hot but mushy (c'mon, mushy batter?), the steamers came with so much sand and so little clam juice to wash them with, and the fish sandwich was.... ok. Worth the 25 MPH speed limit drive through Kennebunkport? No. In the amount of time it takes you to navigate through KP, you might as well drive to Portland where you can get the a better venue, better food, and better prices.

Upped their game this year. Been there twice this year and the food has been improved. Wife agrees as well. The location plus the improved food make this a top destination in the area.

So.....here's the thing. We came to Kennebunkport knowing that this is a seafood town and finding vegan food would be a challenge but we wanted to give it a shot anyway. We went on a schooner tour and this restaurant was next door so we decided to take a look at the menu to see if there was anything reasonable to eat. They have a "vegetarian dish of the day" So i asked what it was and the woman said it was this stuffed eggplant with a bunch of veggies and feta cheese. She said its made to order so we could go without the cheese. Awesome! This is where we were going to eat tonight! So we get there for dinner and tell our waitress about the convo we had with the woman earlier and just wanted to confirm that it was true. She went and talked to the chef and unfortunately.....not so much made to order and full o cheese. Me being the non-vegan decided to get it anyway but now we had to figure out what to get the boy. The server was so incredibly helpful and talked to the chef and they came up with not only a suitable option but something so delicious and filling. It was a pasta dish with a bunch of vegetables...sounds kinda boring but it was really good. The service was beyond what we could hope for and we hate being "difficult veggies" We would have never made a fuss if it wasnt for the conversation we had with the other server earlier in the day...which is why I took 1 star off. She gave false information and that was sort of stressful.

Solid option for mussels and a lobster roll with great outdoor seating. Lobster Pasta is hit or miss.

This is a review based purely on food and not on service. Our waitress was actually really great. We were not that hungry to begin with so we ordered clam chowder, lobster stew and the lobster pasta special. Let me start by saying that they were all below average to say the least. Clam chowder and lobster stew were nothing special but the lobster pasta special was what really disappointed us. This dish cost $33 and the taste was really awful. Pasta was soaked in what appeared to be lemon oil water and the lobster wasn't even that good. Did we order noodle soup? The dish tasted so citrusy, we couldn't finish it. What a disappointment. You are better off going somewhere else in town.

Get the lobster club and you won't be disappointed. Been here 3 years in a row and know my lobster rolls. Lot of mayo (ask to not add it on the bread) but fun experience to hang out on the patio for a date with your hubby.

  • Tiffany L.

The food has gotten much better. The menu is rather limited, but portions are generous. It's pricey, but this is all about location. The patio is lovely and a great place to relax and watch the boats pass by. Kids had fish n chips, two large pieces of fresh haddock fried perfectly. My husband had the salmon filet and he really enjoyed it. I had the New York strip (not a seafood fan) and it was juicy and very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were very creamy, I was not crazy about the veggie mix. Overall, a great evening at a great place.

This casual waterside restaurant was possibly the best restaurant we visited on a fairly long East Coast visit. The service was great. Our waiter suggested the perfect glass of wine for me when I let on that my tastes and drinking capacity were that of a 16 year old girl. When we showed him our California licenses, I commented that I'm actually a native New Englander. "Well, that's good, at least," he quipped. Compare that to what a Pensacola, Florida deli owner said a few days earlier when we said we were from California: "Really? Why would you come here, then?" Love that New England pride. My boyfriend was on a mission to try a lobster roll in every Maine town (and one New Hampshire town) we visited--Arundel Wharf's was the clear winner. My crab roll was also great--they key was that (as the waiter promised us beforehand) the lobster and crab rolls had only enough mayonnaise to bind them together. Arundel Wharf's greatest strength is its location--it sits right on the water. I can't imagine a nicer way to spend a sunny summer's afternoon or early evening than to sit on the deck with a drink and some seafood and enjoy the view.

Went there for lobster roll last weekend. ended up ordering a cup of lobster stew and a lobster roll. cup of stew was classic, with claww and knucle meat. excellent. lobster roll had to eat in 2 steps because of the almost pound of meat in the hot dog roll. excellent. I like to pickit up and eat it like a hotdog so I had to eat the other meat with fries . Wash it down with an IPA and Bob's your uncle done. Wife doesn't eat seafood so had a very nice ceasar salad. The inside dining room is small , but the wharf deck is where it's at. The inside dining room has 3 old school half circle booth tables looking out at marina , very nice. Classic Maine .

The Arundel Wharf is a great place to grab drinks, especially if your group can snag some of the adirondack chairs in the sun on a nice day. The setting on the dock and atmosphere is what you expect from Waspy Kennebunkport. Unfortunately that WASP character is apparent in the food. Stick to the strong G&Ts and avoid the Costco Calamari. Still, it's nice to see a place in the port that hasn't been redecorated to look like some California idea of New England (David's down the street)

Five of us ate at Arundel Wharf and watched the sun set on a Friday night at the height of tourist season. All meals were delicious, though all of the lobster in my Pasta Melange was claw meat. Service was very good, despite the kitchen seeming (not surprisingly) to be a little backed up. Our server was Michelle, who was very familiar with the menu and made great suggestions. Entrees, drinks, tax, and tip came to about $40/person. Not cheap but not excessive. Parking wasn't great with the lot being too small and cars parked haphazardly by amateurs. I'd gladly go back, but maybe not until most of the tourists have gone home.

Best lobster roll EVER Not only did we go there for lunch but we returned for dinner. The food was a very generous portion and the staff was great. This was our favorite place by far.

We ate at Arundel last night despite the mediocre reviews on Yelp because my wife wanted to watch the sunset. When we arrived, the patio was already full, but we were hungry so we took an inside table and hoped for the best. Both the food and service exceeded our expectations. Our waiter recommended the stuffed haddock, which I ordered and which was delicious. My wife's veggie ravioli was also great by her, and the cornbread was a great accompaniment. Our waiter was both prompt and helpful. The wine list was not overly extensive but sufficient for our purposes. In short, the food and service more than made up for the lack of view, and I would recommend the place to Kennebunkport visitors.

It's no secret to those who know me that my FAVORITE meal out is lunch, and if you're in the Kennebunkport area, this is the PERFECT place for lunch! They have an outdoor patio with big umbrellas to keep you covered that sits right on the water so you can relax and watch the boats go by. It can get windy, but I thought it felt great to have the breeze on a warm day! The service wasn't stellar, but I don't have any specific complaints either. It wasn't very full when we got there which makes me wonder if it would have been worse on a busy day, but for us it was standard. FOOD HIGHLIGHTS: -Lobster Stew (Bisque? Not sure exactly what they called it.) - creamy, full of lobster, piping hot, and delicious. -Some kind of chicken pesto sandwich w/fries - excellent sandwich, moist chicken, tasty sauce, and the fries were the perfect amount of crispy and not too oily. Literally, to me they were perfect. -Cheese steak - wasn't my dish, but was thoroughly enjoyed by my father-in-law and husband. Don't know that I would make this a dinner place, but it met my lunch criteria which are actually more stringent, so try it out for lunch and enjoy the view and yummy food!!!
