This restaurant is my favorite for Indian food. When we lived in Maine, my family would come here about once a week. Their selection of dishes is phenomenal, and not overwhelming like some Indian restaurants. The staff are pleasant and patient (like when I can't decide what I want because it's all delicious). On a side-note, there isn't a baby-changing station in the restroom -- made changing a diaper difficult.

Make sure to ask less butter on naan. Curry was delicious. Not much decor or service.

Best Indian food I've found so far in Maine. Much better than any in Portland. Good sized portions, friendly service, and just the right amount of spices. Will be going back again and again! Tip if driving there, park in the big lot at the old mill and walk over if you can't find a spot in front or out back. The short walk was nice after stuffing my gut with curry goodness. Can't wait to dig into the leftovers and I'm still stuffed.

The food was great, service was fine. The water in the women's bathroom didn't work and the toilet was not working either. When my wife mentioned it to one of the people working there, he said he'd fix it later. We sat outside and it was nice. The lunch prices were very reasonable and again, the food was fantastic. I'll be going back soon!

Had a 50th surprise party for my wife. 14 people. Absolutely wonderful. Paul prepared an outstanding arrangement of appetizers, naan and main courses. We are regulars and you won't find better food or service anywhere else in the state. And yes, I've been all over.

I've eaten at dozens of high quality Indian restaurants in the UK, but this beats them all. Hands down the most delicious, exquisitely prepared and best value Indian food I've ever had the pleasure of ingesting. We had dinner here on vacation. I will never forget this meal. It was an amazing sensory experience! We shared an appetizer plate (Punjab Special Vegetarian), two naan breads and two entrees (Chana Masala & Aloo Gobhi). Everything was so incredibly tasty and perfectly prepared, we both ate twice what we normally would do! I can smell the spices now as I am recalling this delightful meal. I ate so much I didn't even have room for a Gelato Fiasco dessert (which is just a few yards down the road). Had we known the portions were so big, we would have shared an entree and cut back to 1 naan - and I'm sure we still would have left very full! Great, friendly service too. So very glad we found this place. Will be back! Thank you Shere Punjab for an unforgettable meal. UPDATE - three of us ate here again on 11/24/2013 for my girlfriend's birthday. We got the Pubjab Special Vegetarian appetizer to share, 3 naans, and Aloo Gobhi, Malai Kofta and Chicken Tikka Masala entrees. Everything was delectable and once again we ate way too much!! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fresh poppadoms that are served with every order. They come with 3 really yummy dipping sauces - a tamarind sauce, a red chili and onion "chutney" and delicious green sauce that I couldn't get enough of. I'm hoping some day to return and have enough room left for dessert! This restaurant gets everything right -- super friendly service, generous portions, exquisitely delicious food and very reasonable prices. Will be back every time we're in the area! Just wish they would open one in Burlington, VT!

There are two Indian restaurants in Brunswick, both run by brothers who had a falling out with one another and now compete for business. Shere Punjab is the superior of the two. We get takeout here about once a week, and while it's not the finest Indian food in the world, by Maine standards, it's very good. I've never had anything bad, and we order vegetarian and meat dishes pretty regularly. Whatever else you get, get the garlic naan.

I've been meaning to get around to writing this for a very long time. This is and continues to be the best Indian food I've eaten in the United States. The owner is unbelievably friendly and involved. I think I've eaten half their menu with my own customized spiciness level (14 on a 1-10 scale). The Chicken Tikka Masala is perfectly balanced and the Butter Chicken is its creamier cousin. Nevertheless, the Aloo Mutter is the perfect, heavier vegetarian dish with well-priced flatbreads on the side. The free papadan and chutney is awesome. The billing system is kind of a pain, but that's how smaller businesses work. I love Shere Punjab and come back as often as I can.

Very good Indian food. Fast, friendly service and fair prices. The Naan was excellent and fresh! Chicken Tikka Saag was very good. So was the chicken masala. We had takeout and it was very good. I couldn't stop eating it! Shere Punjab is highly recommended and we will be back for sure!!

After eating around in Brunswick it was about the same type of food so I wanted to eat something different. My friend and I came here before we had to get ready for the wedding we were going to attend. Forgot the specific names of the dishes we got but it was both vegetarian. It was good but wasn't very spicy. I did say "medium" but my friend said "hot' and both were kind of same levels of spiciness. Plus, we're both to spicier dishes but given, you can't ask for that kind of spice in Maine perhaps. Overall flavor was good though and naan was hot but a bit small. I'm used to larger portion of it back home. Service was nice and attentive and it was a good and filling meal for a good price. About 7.95 for lunch items

When we walked in it was fairly full and they told us they weren't taking anymore customers because the staff was taking a break. So we left.

Love this place. I come to Maine once a year and always have dinner her at least once. Food is terrific. Small, funky dining room with no pretense. Friendly service. Sur in the Windows up front for a good view of Main street

Excellent Indian food. malai kofta and tikka masala were both full of flavor and not too spicy for kids.

I reviewed Shere Punjab in 2011, almost 3 years ago now. I've been several times since, and went again last night and figured a 3 year lapse deserve an updated review. This place is still incredible. The lamb Naan bread was amazing, buttery and soft with great char on the outsides, perfect for dipping our entrees in - which in our party were the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and Lamb Vindaloo. All A+. Service was exceptional. This place is still one of my favorites!

I really want to like this place. I really do. It smells fantastic, and my boyfriend raved about it when we met last year. He lives out in the woods, so we stop here for takeout at least twice a month, and something has been wrong with every single order we've placed. The saag paneer was so over-salted, we couldn't eat it; ditto the malai kofta. We ordered shahi paneer and arrived home to find they'd given us navratan korma instead. They've given us the wrong dishes, the wrong spice level, the wrong naan - and because we usually don't eat till a few hours after picking up, there's no way for us to register a complaint or return the food to the kitchen. Would it be rude to open the containers and check before we leave the restaurant?

As I tell my friends, it's "Indian Approved". I'm far away from home with limited cooking skills. I go there when I get an Indian food craving. Everything I have tried has been great.

Have been a regular once-a-week diner here since the last 8 months. Consistently good North Indian food and good personalized service. A must if you are craving Indian in greater Portland area. The favorites include chana masala, saag paneer, shahjehani murg and garlic naan.

I have eaten twice now at Shere Punjab and been impressed. The food has come pretty quickly both times for us, and we like the ambience of the small space. They serve really spicy food unless you make it clear you don't want it, and that is really nice to find in Maine. I've had lamb saag and saag paneer, both rich and delicious, fish curry with a good spicy sauce, and really good pakora and samosa-type appetizers. The garlic naan is fantastic.

A friend brought me here for lunch one afternoon claiming that it was the best Indian food he'd ever had. We were the only people in the restaurant, and got the best seat in the house (on a ledge near the floor to ceiling window that overlooks Maine St.). And yes, the food was absolutely delicious (definitely NOT the best Indian I've had in the state of Maine, but still delicious) - I won't deny that, but I was a little disappointed with the portion size, the price, and the service (especially considering we were the only patrons there). I felt genuinely ignored by the staff. Our food looked like they had rationed out exactly a cup's worth/the naan was INCREDIBLY small. And I'm certainly glad I wasn't paying for lunch, because I would've felt a bit cheated. If I was craving Indian would I come here? If I was in the area maybe, but I don't know that I'd go out of my way for it.

My parents go to Shere Punjab every Friday night. The service is friendly and the food is authentic. They'll make it very spicy if you ask. Compared to other Indian foods, this is pretty good. If you're looking for tasty Indian, try here. I recommend: Don't pass on the naan. Be bold and try it hot.

Best Indian restaurant I have ever eaten at. Consistent for decades. Saag paneer is my favorite and the best with fresh spinach and lots of cheese cubes. The vegetarian appetizer assortment is a must. The fried cheese and samosas are awesome on the platter. There are so many breads to choose from. The garlic naan is hot and fresh. The owner is always there and so nice. The portions are enough for two. Prices are great. This is a must stop in Brunswick.

Delicious! I'm a lover of Indian cuisine (because duh) and this place left my husband and I very satisfied. We shared the mixed grill, along with samosas and garlic naan, and everything was superb. The mint chutney was so good we were practically licking the metal bowl. The portions were substantial but we still cleaned our plates. We went early on a Friday and were the only customers, but the place filled up around the time we left. The service was friendly and prompt.

Let me start off by saying that I am of indian decent and have enjoyed indian food my whole life. The food here is amazing! We LOVED the garlic naan especially. I aways make sure to order a mango lassi or shake along with my meal. It goes so well with the spices. Enjoy!
