Rainbow Chinese Restaurant, a very good food choice on the Brewer side of the river! Large menu, with all of the American/Chinese regular choices. Not a corporate chain, a family run store, ask politely for the "secret" real Chinese menu options. Small, only three tables and it can be a little chilly in, so ask for extra spicy!

I love this place! The food has never been a disappointment and the people are so nice! It is only the family that works there which is great because I know them so they are awesome and make 99. Percent of it in house! They love what they do and they show that in the food! I highly recommend this place! You really won't regret it!

Have to agree with some other reviews, this place in Brewer is really the best and most authentic place in town for regular Chinese take-out joint. Only real complaint is on the lack of a Singapore Mei Fun but the other stuff makes up for it. I've had 8 different dishes and all good. Doesn't get any better, especially around these parts.

We were traveling, so we needed food in a hurry, yet with a location to eat it. This three-table-usually-takeout place did the trick. We ordered over the phone 10 minutes before we arrived, and they began bring the steaming food out as we arrived. We are vegetarian, and we were absolutely impressed with the diversity of options and flavor a. It was obvious that each dish was being made from extremely fresh Vegas just for us! The broccoli was crisp steamed, the scallions just eight....the tofu soup and dish were both distinct and tasty. We were completely satisfied when we were done, AND also very satisfied with the modest price tag.

After reading the yelp reviews on Rainbow, I decided to forego my regular Chinese restaurant to see if I was missing something. Short answer- I wasn't. My husband and I tried a variety of items, appetizers, General Tso chicken, pepper steak and pork fried rice. The portions were large and the price was quite low. The food was greasy (I had grease running down my fingers when eating some appetizers) and some items (egg roll in particular) tasted stale. The pepper steak was ok, but the meat was a bit fatty. The General Tso was flavorless and the chicken pieces were small and seemed like scrap pieces that had been breaded and fried. The fried rice was ok. The place was clean and the service was efficient. Overall I was quite disappointed with my experience and I won't be going back to Rainbow. For fresh and authentic Chinese food, try Panda Garden on Franklin Street in Bangor. It is the best around.

Amazing! Brewer holds the hidden pot of gold at this Rainbow Chinese food establishment. With the large menu, I ordered a bunch of stuff for my family and I and it was all fantastic. The place was super clean and you could see your food being made as you waited at the tables. The staff was very friendly and helpful (suggested some tasty stuff). Best part of it was it was cheap. I felt like I under paid as I sampled everything. If you are in bangor, head over the bridge and pick your order up, if you're in Brewer, nice job- eat here often.

We had 20 people who chomped through most of our $120 order and everyone thought their dinner was at least two cuts above the usual Chinese restaurant. And 8 of those people live in San Fran!! I finished the leftovers and they were still good four days later.

Rainbow is easily my favorite Chinese food in the Bangor area. So much of their food is the best out of all the other places, and it's inexplicably cheap. I can get a meal that will fill me up for about $6 there. The lo mein and the pork fried rice are the best I've ever had. The sesame and General Tso's chicken are quite good, and the beef and shrimp are good quality. It's a small place. There are only three tables, and it's just the family that works there (I assume they are all related). If you expect someone to come out and ask how everything is, you're not going to like this place, but if you don't care then I can't imagine someone not liking this place. It also gets a little cold in the building in the winter, but it's usually only when the door is open, and it's more of a takeout place than anything.

Very good food and reasonably priced. Food is made to order and usually ready by the time you get there.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
