I used to work right near here and would go weekly for the lunch buffet. It's not a huge buffet, but the items were routinely flavorful. You have to be expecting Mainer-chinese: greasy and not authentic. But it'll fill you up for not much money.

The food wasn't very good. Pork fried rice was the worst I've had, chicken lo mein wasn't much better. Scallion pancake lacked scallions.

Don't go here! It's not good. Everything tastes like a freezer and is overcooked/reheated. All the chicken is VERY DRY! All the beef is VERY FATTY. Don't even think about getting any other type of meat cause you might end up getting sick. It is a well known joke in Bath that the meat they use is sea gull. It's that bad. Don't believe what the other reviews say about there not being better options in town. If you're craving Chinese food just drive to Asian Garden in Brunswick. It is further but a million times better and they don't use any MSG. I don't trust this restaurant, you shouldn't either. Also.. I can't tell you how many times they get in trouble for poor kitchen cleanliness. I had a few friends who worked here in the past and warned me to NEVER eat here because of that... Pretty bad when an employee tells you to not eat at their own restaurant.

Questionable food safety practices, affirmed by a recent closure by the health department, have kept me away permanently. The best Chinese in the area is in Topsham.

Stop.... turn around.... Go to Amatos. I finally was brave enough to try Yum Mee when I was on a project in Bath, ME after a few weeks of eating pizza/sandwiches daily. Service was slow... and I'm pretty sure the guy charged me twice because he couldn't get the credit card machine working. The buffet off to the side looked okay, I probably would have had a better bet with this but I didn't have time to sit down. The food I did get was chicken lo-mein with pork fried rice (lunch special) and crab rangoons. I figured this would be ok.... and it was barely that. Everything was just so-so if not bad. The rice was cold due to it being made in advance and it was mushy. Crab rangoons were very generic "fast food" crab rangoons that don't actually contain any crab. Also... no fortune cookie or chopsticks. On a positive note: the guy made sure to ask if I wanted any sauces and the place overall looked very clean and well maintained (inside).

While not an authentic Chinese restaurant, the place is solidly mediocre and decent enough to share a couple dishes among friends. The kids loved the plain lo mein noodles, the rice, and the fried shrimp, and the waitress was pleasant, if unable to understand most of our English. One of the dishes was acceptable, the other -- garlic pork -- just simply bland. The spring rolls were greasy. The hot and sour soup was tasty, but too much "sour" and not enough "hot." The wonton soup was decent, with a flavorful broth. While not awful, this restaurant isn't truly "good," either. Still, if you need a local Chinese food fix, it's an acceptable locale.

Not good, typical "Chinese in a non-Chinese" area food. Unfortunately I got food poisoning and ended up on prescription meds. I can't even look at Chinese food now without reliving that vomiting week. :-*(

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
